Experiencia fantástica: I ordered a few fish from here and was worried about shipping because I know how hard it is to ship live fish. I called up they answered I don’t know which employee answered but he was awesome! you can tell he loved the hobby and we chatted for 15 minutes just about the fish. Unfortunately I did have a doa (it happens) but it was taken care of. over all despite the doa the service and fish quality is great. poor guy just got banged up during shipment.

Experiencia negativa: Arrived late and dead. 3 weeks and not return calls or contact and NO REFUND. My order Shipped with a heat pack in the middle of summer, 90 degree weather. Shipped next day UPS instead of overnight, why we have no idea. We bought enough product for free shipping and they seemed to cheap out on the packaging and shipping. Lost all of the corals, shrimp and more. They should not ship their livestock until they can do it reliably and safely for the livestock itself. Never Again!

Experiencia negativa: The Online business is a absolute joke. They used a thin card board box in winter with mismatched styrofoam that didn't cover the inside of the box and no heat packs in sub 20 degrees. Then the guy says he'll refund my money since I received actually Ice packs with fish in them. Only to turn around the next day and say no refund only storecredit. They didn't have the fish I wanted and he fought me for over a week but finally got my credit will never shop here again. Edit Just read the owner response to see how bad these people are to deal with. I also have no problem with store credit but the owner specifically told me on the phone they would refund my money then the next day said they wouldn't and I need to order again but didn't have the fish I wanted. You say you don't know who I am and have no record of my order yet at the end of your made up rant you make some crap up about me being cheap. Which is it you know my order or not. You sent this order out in January it's not hot in January and you sent it with insulation that didn't cover the whole box inside or even one heat pack your fault not ups you shouldn't be allowed to ship live animals!

We could not locate any order with this name. It summer and San Jose is hot now and during summer the box stays more than 10 hrs in San Jose and we don’t put heat pack during summer as it is very hot in San Jose and we cannot put heat pack. If we know the order number then we can go from there.

Now it happened to me......They take advantage of you with false lies, hanging up their cell phone and making fun of you.......Stay away from these fake sellers who only take your money easily.....There are many sellers out there who really do things right and are honest.....Keep on with your lies....the other thing is clarified....What you send is not what I paid for, you understand?idiot?

Customer placed order #19512 for a mummy eye coral for $29.99 and it was shipped out. The the customer placed another order of the same coral as store pick up and how can we combine that? I guess the customer didn't want to pay for shipping and we have to cancel that order which was for $29.99.
Customer was very difficult to deal with and we are better off without serving customers like this one. We will not ship this person anything who doesn't even have the knowledge to understand the qulaity provide.
If this customer places another order we will automatically cancel his order.
Please source your specimens from somewhere else.
He had left 42 google reviews for other places he did business with and most were negative that might reflect his personality in general and yes we agree we cant make everyone happy.

Experiencia negativa: Worst experience ever most unprofessional people I have ever dealt with. Sent me Styrofoam box no heat pack with a fish missing in his response on email is basically attacking me. Shipping was delayed a day ask them to Ship out Monday so I can have it for Tuesday. They shipped out Tuesday and I got it Thursday Fish were in rough shape still currently trying to fix them. They just kept telling me they shipped out the one fish. And never tried to resolve the situation. I called my bank and disputed it as I was not going to pay for something I didn’t receive . You can see the emailed back and forth. HORRIBLE PEOPLE. Trying to bash customer through email. You can see the ups photo, and emails going back and forth. And let me tell you, they don’t quarantine their fish at all. Second time Issues with them. First time fish arrived dead

This guy was unbelievably cheap to begin with. I mean we are talking "extremeley cheap" to a point where you are not even able to business with. Then this guy became a fraud and filed chargeback (meaning he called the credit card company and asked for the money back). We do not do business with frauds who file chargebacks. First he was cheap and when we didn't allow it, he became a fraud. Doesn't want to follow our store policy, but wants to create his own new one for our store. We do business with people who agree to our store policy. Please source your fish/corals from somewhere else. We don't operate UPS, we ship overnight via UPS at your request and keep that in mind. Yes, you lost a supplier like us, and we lost a customer like you (Glad we did) and that's ok!
I'm not one of the normal businesses that say "Sorry sir, next time we will do better sir," for your cheapness and frauds. You lost access to our high quality huge selection of our fish and corals........ I will simply kick you out, you got it? You better...

Person to Pickup a couple fish due to seeing a lot Bo making it in shipping w this store and wanted to try em out due to better prices bought a blue tang scopes and 2 fire fish the scopes tang looks really skinny and one the fire fish looked beat up when I placed them in my tank to examine them they both didn’t make it in my take more then 3 hours scopes was really skinny not eating anything n juts slow had him in low flow in my sump worse fish experience ever never geting another fish ever again from these guys I also called to try to let them now and they said it’s my fault n they can’t do anything about it

The is a walk-in customer order and the store policy mentioned below only applies to walk-in orders and not for orders that are shipped out.
The order number is: 18533
He walked in to the store inspected the fish and bought the following:
1- Tiny 1.5" blue tang for $59.99
2-Tiny 2" Scopas tang for $39.99
3- two firefish for $19.99 each
Total order was for $152
You want the tiny 1.5" fish to buldge up like a balloon? these are not plastic toys made in china to those specs but natural specimens sourced from ocean. We are known for the quality of the fish we sell.
You think because you leave a bad review we will come begginng to you and will give you what you want? You think you create a leverage with this type of falsified reviews to get what you want? Wrong!
We feed the fish in front of customers, and after they walk in to the store, inspect the fish, and pick up the fish of their choice, the assumption is they are satisfied with the quality of fish that they have chosen, and after they are satisfied with the fish there is no going back. The minute you walk out of our store, there is no more warranty after that point. After they have selected the fish, after they have inspected the fish we pack it for them. After they release the fish in their own tank it becomes part of their hobby. Did it suddenly stop eating in your tank after you released the fish? It is part of your hobby at that point. I know you mentioned becasue our prices are cheaper, yes we sell healthy fish at a reasonable cost. Are you cheaping out by not spending money on salt/ water change? Are you thinking you are saving money by not doing the needed water chages? Look at your tank first. As per the records the fish was purchased on march 1st and the fish died the same day once it entered the customers tank. All fish were 1" size and suddenly after the customer killed the fish he is complaning that the fish became skinny. How? you walked in and picked up the fish of your choice right? And you killed all of them?
Our policy is simple. You walk in to the store, and inspect the fish, and you see the fish eating (You can ask us to feed) and you take it home and release that fish into your tank, then at that point there is no return and it has become part of your hobby. Please source your fish somewhere else, we have the right to not let you inside the store again which we will do.
Clear instructions were given to my employees to kick you out of the store if they see you come in. Our message to you is loud and clear here, if you don't adhere to our store policy or if you are unreasonable then you will lose access to fish, and you will be kicked you out of our store. We will enforce it for you and I will personnally make sure of it!

Experiencia fantástica: Bought a nice sized acropora, some palys, and a 2" hippo tang from these folks for a great price during a sale. Shipped overnight and arrived in great health... Day one and tang is eating brine shrimp and acro has polyps out. Couldn't ask for a better outcome!

Experiencia fantástica: I have been in the hobby for a long time and I have purchased online from all the big names. Sometimes, it's the little guy that turns out to be the real jewel and that's exactly what Madhu is. The $800 worth of livestock he shipped me across the country would have easily cost me double anywhere else. The colors on the anemones are amazing, especially the red carpet...WOW! The fact that he held things until it was safe to ship and called me to personally make sure my order was good says a lot about his business. A+, best of the best IMO.

Experiencia negativa: Negligent owner, inhumane shipping practices. They are not fish people nor business people at that. As a first time customer this will be my last & should have read more reviews. I placed an order for saltwater fish with their blackfriday sale. To sum things up they called the night prior to shipment & i made them aware there would be a storm with 20-30 degree temps and to postpone if needed for safety of livestock. They assured me they would be fine, they do it all the time! I received the box right out of UPS's hands. Upon opening said box, they cut thin pieces of styrofoam to line the box with broken pieces/cracks throughout. I.e no insulation. 8 fish were in a black bag with one small heat pack. The heat pack and all bags were ice cold. Every single fish was on deaths door & spazzing about. Two DOA. The opening was recorded and will be uploaded to youtube to make enthusiasts aware. When i reached out and included videos/photos per policy and explained how dissapointed I was at the lack of care the owner insisted only credit be given and to buy MORE fish and pay more shipping from this place. Here is the professional response: ' You have two doa out of all the fish and we understand. We shipped out 50 boxes yes, one ot two had one or two doas? Fish that are live will be fine and we import fish and after they are callmated they come back. Yes recently thew weather is severe. At the time you bought from us you agreed to our store policy and as per our store policy we have issued a full store credit for those two fish. Give it a day or two and get back to us. ' All the negative reviews are spot on. Shady business owner. First and last time customer. Credit card company will handle this. All i wanted was a refund on the DOA fish and to cut business ties. Couldnt even do that to make it right. Now i'll be making everyone in the reef community aware of the terrible practices. Edit: Emotional? Look at your response to make a resolution. You are a piece of work!!!! I could care less. You deserve no ones business little man. Have a nice day!! You will need luck and should have gone to school for an MBA because you are a terrible owner Go cry yourself to sleep now. Edit #2: All fish shipped have since died of shock/sickness apart from the firefish. This is an extremely low grade shop. Run away. Owner only cares about money not the fish/customers. The two things you need to run a business in the aquarium industry. Unreal experience. Waste of life/money would give negative stars if i could.

Experiencia fantástica: I've been overseeing marine aquariums for 15 years, so I'm very selective. I decided to give Violet Aquarium a try as I was seeking a Purple Tilefish. This is a fish that often arrives DOA depending on how professional an aquarium store is. I received the most vivacious beautiful specimen and my order to delivery was fast! Their communication, packaging, and delivery was outstanding! The cost / value was impressive. My fish is thriving and gorgeous! I recommend them and already placed my next order. There was no delay to shipping on our end. We created a label for the order on the 13th, we packed and shipped it on the 14th the next day. At this point it was in UPS's hands. 95% of the time, they deliver on time, the other 5% they delay it by one day, which was the case this time. We do not operate UPS, however we do take care of our customers on the off chance that UPS has a problem with the shipping. Had this customer contacted us appropriately, we would have taken care of him just like we take care of all our customers. He did not follow our store policy, no DOA evidence was submitted as per our store policy.

Experiencia fantástica: Order the fish on Friday evening because they had free shipping over $99.99. This was at my house 10 AM Tuesday morning. Healthy! Beautiful FISH.Melichthys Indicus 3”-4”. Experiencia fantástica: I recieved my order on time. It was packed well and all inhabitants were alive and healthy. This is one of the only places I could find the african golden midas blenny available. A fish I was very interested in. At first there was a problem with the website and I recieved a message from Nick with an offer for another type of blenny or if I would mind waiting a few days for new shipment of fish which included the golden midas blennys. Well. I'm so glad I waited. When I saw my fish she was so golden and pretty in her bag. I expected she would look like a rotten banana. Anyway, I got her into a quarantine tank and she's eating already no issues. Ordered a cleaner shrimp to take advantage of the free shipping. Not sure how that is possible since that much cost a fortune but I am very happy. I will order again, but since I'm not that far away I may just plan a local pickup for next time. Experiencia fantástica: Amazing experience there yesterday with my partner! They have so many unique fish and corals and knowledgeable staff. A very well maintained facility and nice staff. All prices are online which is great. Got myself a diamond goby but sadly he jumped out in the middle of the night and didn’t make it but nonetheless will return there for all my fish needs. Just so hard to have a budget with all the beautiful fish they got lol

Experiencia fantástica: Over the past 18 months I have ordered at least 50 fish from them. I have had a few DOA which they immediately gave me credit. I have never had a diseased fish from them which I know is rare. I have had diseased from local fish stores though. I have purchased sharks, rays, tangs, pilot fish, triggers, puffers, idols, to name a few.

Experiencia negativa: I've been here twice. Not going back again. The customer service was awful, and the prices even worse. On top of that, most of their coral frag tanks are infested with aiptasia, and they still want bare minimum $40 per piece. Hard to see but in the photo, any shape you see is aiptasia. I couldn't find any coral in that system lol. Owner seemed very rude with his own employees. Would not recommend. Edit for the owner: the way you treat your employees is not my fault. Your livestock being pest ridden is your fault, also. But I had to teach your staff what palytoxin was. Honestly shocked how long he was working there without knowing. This was both 6 months ago and 1 month ago. Online buyers beware.

one tank had aptasia and we are fixed it now. Other tanks have great corals. Customer came in and asked " can i have the corals that have aptasia for $5?" So cheap from the begining, and had to say "No." Better off by not serving people like this. The guy simply didn't have good energy from the get go. Yes go some where else where they entertain your offers. Was truely happy to send him away! We won't sell you but we will kick you out if you come back. Don't lose self respect while trying to be so cheap and save 5 bucks. People will lose respect for you when you are being so cheap and spiteful. I guess some people are willing to lose their self respect for $5. Do I want them as customers? Big NO!
His update that he was teaching us what palytoxin was also a lie. Get qualified yourself as a good human being first, and then you can become a buyer with some self respect. Don't be just a human DNA.

Experiencia fantástica: Highly recommend this store. I’ve ordered fish online from them 3 times now and all the fish are super healthy and not a single fish has come in with a sickness or parasites. I’ve bought 15 fish from them of varying species whether it was tangs, wrasses, angels, clownfish, rabbitfish, and all 15 have pulled through for me. Can’t say the same about any other online vendor, not even close. Violet aquarium has the widest selection of fish and commonly has specimens that no one else has like this golden angel I just got from them for 1/3 the price of what Biota is asking for their golden angels. Experiencia fantástica: I ordered online so I can’t speak for the store itself, but I ordered a peacock mantis shrimp from them a few weeks ago. They were one of the very few places I could find one. They were competitively priced. I called to double check that they had it in stock, since I’ve been burned before ordering from other places. They were communicative, and very helpful. The animal came in a good amount of water and big bag for its size, and I appreciated that. It arrived healthy and beautiful. It ate from tongs very quickly, and it’s doing just fine. Healthy and greedy.

Experiencia fantástica: My pops showed me this place. The place had 2 rooms. As you enter you're bombarded with salt water fish into a larger room with both fresh/salt water . I got 2 freshwater fish at a reasonable price and the people there seem so chill and they make sure you get the one you have your eyes on. The place is a hole in the Wall so worth the find!!

Experiencia fantástica: This aquarium shop has to be the best saltwater, freshwater, AND reef store in the Bay Area. The front of the store is nice but they have more tanks(towards the back of the shop) where the sign says "employees only". Everyone is welcomed to the "employees only" area. If you have time to kill, you can easily get lost in their massive selections that they update every week! They also ship (which is very convenient). Will be back soon

Experiencia negativa: WARNING WARNING WARNING Terrible experience first order I bought the What you see what you get fish and that is not the fish they sent and both fish were all beat up looked very sad to see them that way then I ordered coral and the most expensive coral I bought they sent me two of the cheap ones I ordered they are very shady buyers be aware terrible customer service the owner Paul called and threatened me that I would no longer be able to buy if I don’t remove my review and called me cheap terrible company will be contacting the better business bureau I tried to work with them but they don’t work with you he sent me a 30 dollar coral for free to make up for my 60 dollar fish that was not the correct fish please be aware buyers and they took forever shipping kept using excuses why it was not shipped yet first they said ups is down I told them just received a order from someone else then they said there label machine was down please buy from a more reputable buyer and you will get what you paid for

This was not William Quidley's first order and it was a second order. None of the items were WYSIWYG on the order. Customer bought for $154 and called several time for discount. we even sent a free goniopora and shipped it free. After receiving the corals complained that he didn't receive the most expensive coral (Hairy Mushroom) and we did pack that coral. Still we gave the benefit of the doubt and issued him the refund of $47.91 and that went back to his original payment method. We will not ship this customer again and will cancel his future orders of placed. Customer sent a photo of this tank and it seems very new to hobby from the way the tank looked (it did look horrible with incompatible species and no corals should be put there). If there was any mistake on our side usually we take care of it without much trouble but this customer was extremely difficult and cheap from the beginning. Go bother other suppliers and leave us alone. Banned from shopping with us again. Here is his exact order:

Experiencia negativa: My order included a blue tang, butterfly fish, emperor fish, coral beauty, pink Goni coral frag, & neon green hammer frag. I bought the emperor fish as WYSIWYG and never received as well as they ran out of the hammer coral frag. Took me multiple emails sent to even get a response from them. I was trying to replace the missing fish with ones that are available and even pay the price difference for the new fish. Paul responded back within 1 day about my request and never actually did anything. I was patient and after 4 weeks of no response or resolution of my problem it took another week until I was able to get a refund. Very unprofessional and they will no longer deserve my business.

Today we issued the refund for the items that was not shipped. Yes the mistake is in our side this time, and we look forward to serve you better next time. Experiencia negativa: This place stinks - literally. The fish tank foul smell was pretty bad and the tanks were so overstocked the fish were pushing each other out the way to swim. For freshwater, all they had was glofish and some melted plants. For saltwater, they had some interesting species but the overcrowding in tanks was a turn off. Those feels like a shipping operation than a store front.

customer bought a lionfish for $55.00 and paid $29.00 for overnight ups shipping (shipment was from san jose CA to Scarsdale NY 10583). we shipped overnight early shipping which alone costed us $150.
Customer claimed DOA and won't provide proper proof of DOA. Still we issued not just $55 credit, but we provided $93 credit which included the shipping too. Still the customer was unrealistic, and didn't understand that we cannot offer free shipping for orders below $100. we offer free overnight shipping for all orders above $100, and customer was not willing to spend that to get free shipping. Hard to deal with, and very cheap. We rarely give up on customers but this one was worth giving up.

may be there was language problem. Our store employees didn't speak the language customer was speaking and we couldn't understand. we don't take cash but we take only credit card. we explained that to him and it might have come accross rude. we strictly enforce our store policy. Experiencia positiva: Live in Michigan. First ever purchase. Came on time, well packaged. Purchased two Green Haddoni Carpet Anemones. Very sticky, which is a great sign of good health. Mouths closed. Waiting for them to open to full size. Advertised as 12 inches. Great price. I'm stoked!!! Placed in my 150 gallon mixed reef tank.

I recently made an order a few days ago got a hard shell porcupine puffer fish, a yellow eye spotted kole tang, and a dwarf lion fish I’m very satisfied with my order at first I was a bit skeptical since I never ordered fish online but the fish came in good packaging and in very good health all the way from cali to Illinois will definitely be back to order more fish soon

Experiencia negativa: Their DOA policy is definitely one of the worst I've ever seen. They will deduct at least $110 from the credit they give you based on the cost of the shipping of the fish. Business accounts with UPS do not charge $110 for overnight shipping. Also, if you place an order with credit and you have a DOA on that order, you're out of luck they wil not give credit for an order that used credit to purchase. Doesn't make any sense and seems extremely sketchy. Read the DOA policy before buying from here folks and save your money.

I have had a lot of experience with ordering from many different online fish stores over the years. Violet Aquarium tops them all. They have Best Prices, largest fish and they regularly carry hard to find livestock. Really Love their WYSIWYG so I know exactly what I am getting. Experiencia fantástica: My family and I stopped by here after going to the Winchester Mystery house which is pretty close by. Be warned, this place is pretty hard to find, it’s way at the back of a commercial property in a residential area so trust your GPS. The showroom is no-frills but it doesn’t need to be, it’s all about the livestock and they guy who seemed to be the owner was friendly and has a bunch of cool fish and corals. I picked up a pink-tipped purple torch and some really nice Florida Ricordea all at a fair price. If you’re in the area or anywhere in Nor Cal and willing to make a day trip, there’s lots to do in the area and this place is definitely worth checking out.

Only a few tanks now with some very cool selection; need to have prices and info or better/available customer service, but that may come with time? came to the store picked up healthy specimens and it appears they had put that in their tank which was already crashing due to some unknown reason. we don't know what else or where else they bought specimens that brought in disease to their tank. If they blame others for their lack of expertise in the hobby and cause problems it is better to refuse sales. Qt your specimesn no matter where you get them from. A parrot fish that you bought one day ago won't crash the system but you had introduced marine velvet a while ago or your system had crashed due to electrical failure causing oxygen deprivation. It is scientifically impossible for a fish that was bought within 24 hrs to crash your tank because of any disease. Let's be honest here. From what we see your tank either crashed due to an electrical failure causing oxygen deprivation or some sort of healter malfunction cooking your tank or some other unknown issue. Let’s be honest here for a second. Either you have had an electrical failure that caused oxygen deprivation or a heater malfunction cooling your tank or some other failure happened which made your tank crash. You only know the real reason why or how the tank crashed. We offer warranty in case of our specimen being not good and we know how well our fish are eating in our tanks. When you came in it is your responsibility to ask us to feed and show and you will see all of our fish will be eating and healthy. It is scientifically impossible for a new fish that stayed less than 24 hrs in Your tank to crash your tank because of disease etc. For the parasites to even multiple and for a parasitic bloom to happen, it takes days (even for marine velvet). If people lack expertise then they can lose fish which means losing money. How do you expect a store to take responsibility for that ? Tank crash etc are part of the Hobby and that’s how hobbyist learn and no one can pay for your hobby but only you. Either way this is an unjust case.
Did you have electrical failure ? Then Look into setting up battery back up. Did you have Heater malfunction that cooked your tank? Then buy only industry golden standard Eheim Jager heater (German made), did you have disease outbreak ? Then prophylactically quarantine your fish as well as corals before your introduce them to your display tank. That’s the right and ethical way to deal with real problems in this hobby and that’s how most of the hobbyist handle the problems. Not just kill all fish and ask for a credit. If you had asked for store credit for parrot fish alone then we would have considered it but you are expecting us to take responsibility for your inability to care for them properly which we won’t be able to do.

Experiencia negativa: So I ordered 4 fishes at this store. All of them had a ich and died in 5 days after receiving despite treatment. Also I choose small size fishes in website but all of them came 3-5 inches long. Update. Right now got email from seller and he started as You should QT all fishes first, your tank infected with ich and etc. He even didn't ask me if I do it? But I did and fishes died in qt tank. Then he sait so you need to check your QT tank... brraaa. fishes from other stores are ok with my qt tank but these are not exactly my fault... it all comes down to him accusing me of not knowing anything about keeping and qt of the fish since he has thousands of them but me not

Soon After receiving the fish the customer thanked us for sending healthy specimens! we have that actual email from this customer. If healthy fish were directly introduced to your already infected display tank then yes you will have this problem and we have no control over it. unfortunately, this hobby needs some level of dedication. You may want to QT fish no matter where you get your fish from and never introduce clean fish into already contaminated tank. If you want to learn how to Qt fish then we are here to help. all fish were shipped with correct size and this was the order: 2 signal goby, 1 midas blenny, 1 tailspot blenny and one longnose butterfly. Long nose butterfly does have a long nose and initially customer said it seemed larger on that fish alone. customer blames someone else for his inability to keep fish alive.

I hope to order again (or visit the store) sometime soon. - The website has the best WYSIWYG section of any marine fish site I have come across. - Wide selection of fish, a lot of species that are hard to find elsewhere - The ordering process was smooth! The shipping method selection was very straightforward. - They called me the following day to confirm the desired airport for the order, as I live between 2. - They also called me to inform me of a very slight size correction to the listed fish size, I was blown away by the incredible customer service. - Received personal communication of the airway bill and the package was in great condition with plenty of water and happy fish. - They ran a promotion which ended up saving the same amount I was spending on shipping, which basically gave me free overnight shipping! I believe it is normally $500 to qualify for free shipping on orders. 10/10 Highly Recommend

Experiencia positiva: Ordered from this place online. Price was fine. I like that they ship in with more water/oxygen than others. Customer service was excellent prior to purchase and for shipping. I did however get a partially wrong order. The favia I ordered looked nothing like the picture but in all fairness that can happen to some degree between tanks, stress, and lighting. However the favia in the picture was bright yellow and the one I received is green/purple. I ordered orange oxide zoas and got different zoa's entirely. I also ordered a yellow eye kole tang (spotted) that was a square tail tang. I believe the store just doesn't use the popular name for them. This one is half on me and half on them for the name imo. I love the little guy but it was still labeled incorrectly, at least in my opinion. I tipped them with the order as well which made it more disappointing when 50% of the order was incorrect/unexpected. The square tail tang also immediately developed a few dark patches which I believe was bacterial as it responded well to general cure and kanaplex in my QT. But I obviously can't prove they shipped me a fish with these marks as they may have been from shipping stress.

Favia it authentic Dragon Soul Favia.. You can google it yourself how the dragon soul favia. We named and posted Kole tang (spotted) with the photo so that clearly one can see it doesn't have lines but the spotted as it is not from hawaii yellow eye. You can look at the product photo on our website. Hawaii yellow eye kole tang is not available in any place since the hawaii ban and if we were to sell that we would say hawaii yellow tang with the hawaii yellow tang on product photo. We only ship fish after careful inspection and fisn developing bacterial infection in a customer's tank can be due to several factors which is beyond our control. Hope this explains

Experiencia positiva: Every fish that I got from violet are healthy and eat well, high quality fish. I’ve decided to risk it and get a blue tang here, hopeful it doesn’t get sick like online says they are prone to disease. Hope my luck doesn’t change. Update October 2021 I bought a marine betta from the shop at 7-8 pm and acclimated it for 1 hour through temp/drip method because the salinity was high. The next morning the fish was found dead. So I took out the camera and record that it had died within 24 hours. This is not the first time I bought fish or corals from them. I bought from them many times and spent a lot of money over my 2 year reefing. I was deeply disappointed this time around so I try to contact them to see if I could get some store credit. I was told that the marine betta's tail at shop look great the tail was not like the video I sent and It was healthy at the shop. The tail is due to the hermit crab cleaning up the dead fish. The marine betta wasn't fully healthy it wasn't swimming around the tank. I saw it laying and swimming near the sand. There was bruises at the bottom of the fish when I inspected it taking home. At the time i didn't pay much attention to it because I bought many fishes from the shop and high expectations. I didn't expect the fish to die within a night.I bought the fish to cheer myself because this couple week, life have been harsh on me. I was overjoyed when buying the marine betta. I've been scoping at the site forever to get one so I was excited to get it. With this I became deeply disappointed and sad with the sale. Lesson learned to not expect the shop to give you healthy fishes even if you brought from them many times. Inspect for bruises and always ask if they can eat by showing you their feeding. Don't pick fishes that lay on sand bed pick fishes that swimming about and active. Overall I'm deeply disappointed from this experience. May 2022 Update- Violet Sea shop has a lot of variety of fish, I am still disappointed with the previous experience with marine betta but this shop is still good with lots of fish. I think the best place to get fish that are rare. Only shop in San Jose that has saltwater fish that other saltwater fish store don’t have. I still came back cus they only store that have fish that I want.

Experiencia fantástica: First time saw this fish store was on Facebook. Came in person and met with Paul. Very nice guy. Fish store is upgrade with more fishes and corals in stock soon. Cant wait to buy more corals and fishes from them. One of the few best saltwater fish store in Bay Area. They do ship out if needed.

Experiencia fantástica: Today, I went up to their store to pick up my fishs since they have a difficulty on my online transaction. They wasn't able to receive my order. However, I am very satisfied with their service. They are very professional and nice people to deal with. They also gave me a free fish because of the online errors with my online purchased. If, you have any issue with your order, they are willing to deal with and will work it out with you. Also, they will get their customers a very healthy fishs to ship out. I was there in person to see one of the worker pick the right fish than I expected to pick. There are 3 workers, but I only know the two which is Naua, and the manager Paul. They are very nice and trustworthy. In the future, I will get more fishs from them. Recommended people to get fishs/corals from them, even if you tried to order online. Thanks so much guys, Naua, and Paul! I am very satisfied with my orders.

Then the owner commented something very strange in reply but it’s not me… this is the comment. “ we think we remeber this one. walked into store one afternoon asking for plastic toy fish that needs zero maintenance and can swim/float inside fish tank, and didn't know anything about saltwater fish or corals. we sent this one away saying we sell only live specimens that needs care and maintenance. “ surprised about such a rude response based on strange assumptions. lowered the rating from two to one star because of the reply. There are a few things in mind: 1) they sell damaged fishes - fish fins are often damaged/lost 2) not knowledgeable - cannot answer questions and not good at handling fishes either. Some employees are not trained at all apparently 3) not trustful - even someone who seem confident tell incorrect information while still trying to sell 4) very rude, as shown above

Banned from entering the store!

Experiencia fantástica: I had such a good experience here that I figured I'd leave a review. I've been coming here for the past year every now and again. As someone whose been in the hobby for a few years now, I'm always pretty skeptical about buying new fish from any LFS, as I don't want my system to get nuked by a sick fish. I really appreciated the fact that one of the workers pulled me to the side when I asked him about quarantining fish. He mentioned that new shipments always go through a 10-15 day quarantine before making it into their display tanks, and he also showed me that in the back of the store is where they have their holding tanks to examine their fish. It seems that they really take care of their fish here. There's a unicorn tang that I've been seeing in one of their display tanks over and over again that's grown to be the size of a football lol. I ended up walking out with a new fish, and the guy was so kind to me, he even let me pick out one coral from his frag system for free. Amazing customer service, and I will be returning for when I purchase more livestock and corals.

Experiencia fantástica: After restarting my reef from a die-off last year, I found this shop while looking for new fish and invertebrates. They have it all. Lots of fish and coral selection, from small to x-large and ordinary to really fancy stuff. Corals I have not seen in any other shops. My kids were even impressed. The best part is their prices are better than other local shops. Shop did seem a bit small, but I got a small tour of their expansion in progress in the main warehouse and it is huge. Can't wait till it's all done. Thanks guys!
