Experiencia fantástica: Great aquarium to shop, smaller place but really focused on quality of fish and clean tanks. This is a amazing store I've been shopping here since it opened and have never had a bad experience. They have alot of nice higher end fresh water fish Discus and nice plecos. They also have a good selection of live plants and salt water fish coarls and live rock aswell. Definitely worth checking out.

Experiencia fantástica: I recently bought a tropical fish from this store, and unfortunately, it passed away the next day. When I went back, the staff were incredibly professional and helpful. They tested a sample of my tank water, explained what might have gone wrong, and gave me valuable tips on how to better care for my fish. Big kudos to the team—especially Sabrina—for their patience and expertise. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for tropical or saltwater fish. Great customer service and knowledgeable staff!

Experiencia fantástica: I live in manteca one day I grew a wild hair up my behind looking for a amazon puffer or the sap so I set upon a mission to drive out there unfortunately they didn't have any and here is where pleasant surprise begins. they took my number and gave a promise id be first they would call "in my head I'm thinking ok bs". to my humble surprise they called me like 3 days later gladly texted over photos, video, gave me their water parameters, and even held the fish for me... i mean aquarium puppy. was even willing to hold the little fella a few days for me... staff is amazing you're treated as a friend and not potential dollar sign. they packed the b fish very well no leaks it survived the trip and even stopped to eat at number one shitty buffet seriously don't eat there! but splash has a new customer for life I went home and bragged to my shitty lfs that I'm stuck going to because petsmart thinks crickets are gold dipped and tax but I now will only buy fish from splash!

I am providing a review on him and his store not through the lens of a friend, but as a neutral reporting entity giving you the review through the progression of time. Mike as a person is passionate in reef keeping. His passion shows not only in his business, but when he worked in the same location under Jojo aquarium. If it weren’t for Mike, I would be discouraged in keeping a reef tank as he provides handholding for new folks getting into the reef keeping hobby. Splash Aquarium organically progresses throughout the years. From having the best prices in town (sometimes at a bargain) to even taking your complaints seriously when it comes to customer service, so that you as a customer can enjoy the dedicated attention and pleasant shopping! I always try coming back here and reminded instantly why I don't. I always go to Fish and reptile depot in Citrus Heights. I have to travel far for both but Splash is closer. I'll drive the extra 30 For Retile Depot.. Luckily I have to give the one star...

I came in for decor because this place is way better than petsmart petco ect. Litterally $14 purchase and was ID'd on a debit card asking if I knew my expiration date or cvc like uhhh for a peice of wood. That was weird now I'm uncomfortable like should I have used a credit card? You want cash? That was awkward. I could see if it were a large purchase but a peice of wood. Absurd.

Good selection of tank decor. Everything was priced very reasonably. Got 4 Gourami and a 6 pack of fake plants.

They have a good selection of fish you absolutely would not be finding in your average pet store, really geared to an artful aquarium experience. It is definitely one of my new favorite places in Sacramento. Keep up the good work guys I haven't seen this much love towards the hobby since to big store on 28th closed down.

The ammonia was too high and toxic for my fish. I had test strips, but no ammonia tester. She told me how to fix my tank. I got a new betta and hope this fish will have a quality life with good water.

Experiencia fantástica: Great place! We're from out of town and came here initially to look at ranchus. We left the place, went to 3 different shops and eventually came back to get 2 orandos. Had a 3 hr trip back home and they survived the journey. They're now named Rooster and Beanie.

Prices are indeed competitive, and the shop is well staffed with informed folks who are quick to assist any time their hands aren't full. The location is less than ten minutes from my home, which makes visits quick and easy. Glad to have this shop around.

Experiencia fantástica: This store is the best, i use to live in South Sac and use to go there almost every weekend, not i live in Roseville but still go there whenever i could. It is very clean, love theirs fishes, very healthy, a lot of good deals in fresh water fishes, very friendly and very knowledgeable. This aquarium store is way better than the one close to where i live, i am talking about “ aquarium & reptiles”. I rather drive all the way to South Sac to buy live fishes there than go to that one with only few miles from my house.

Experiencia fantástica: I initially brought my daughter here looking to pick up fish because we thought we'd grab a fish after getting her a small (3 gallon). The staff was extremely helpful in educating us on the proper needs for fish and how we could set ourselves up with the proper kitting needed. It is so much more than I thought, but thanks to them, we didn't get any fish until we can setup a proper enclosure where they will thrive. A lesson for myself and my daughter on proper care for animals we admire.

Frozen food is okay price too, 3 for 18 (6each) 7day return policy of freshwater fish and 24 hour return policy for saltwater. All fish look healthy and tanks are decently clean(salt water side needs more love) Bought 8 fish from here all alive and well

Experiencia negativa: Every animal I have bought from here has been sick. All shrimp I bought here have died. Despite my regular population being healthy. The goldfish I bought here had parasites, I managed to save him, but it was a fight. I just bought 5 cories from them two days ago and 3 of them have died, and no, my tank is not to blame. I have a healthy cory population, and even thriving hatchlings. The employees are wonderful and friendly, but I will not be buying anything living from this place again.

Experiencia fantástica: Pretty good selection and if they don't have something they likely can get it. If you want something specific I would call ahead and if they don't have it they can tell you when it likely will come in. The staff aren't in your face at all but they know their stuff. Most fish I got here have done well, a few have died but they are good about giving store credit. These places don't have control over how the fish are treated in shipping so occasionally new fish will die. The tanks appear well maintained.

But to tell me I should read a book instead of Google/internet to better inform myself? First off why do think we came to the fish store in the first place. We were looking for some advise! Humiliating the customer is not the way to do it.

Experiencia negativa: Everytime i buy tetras from this shop, 90% of them die in the next 3 to 4 days. I already have 30 neon tetras in my tank and they are all doing fine for year. Temp and water are fine. I dont want to leave a bad review but this is the 3rd time.

Experiencia negativa: Everyone at this store was somewhat friendly, but some of the fish were not healthy. I bought a fish from here and after bringing it home realized that it had parasites which i later found out were ick. I had to return to the store to purchase the treatment (which costed more than the fish) and saw that many other fish had these parasites too. The second i told the staff that i was there because my fish had ick, they seemed very uninterested and dismissed it. The staff clearly had absolutely no idea what they were talking about. If you do purchase from this store, make sure that you are not purchasing any fish that are infested by ick. (ick covers fish in white flecks).They did have a wide variety of fish, but they were not in very good condition so I would not shop here again.

Experiencia fantástica: As a severely uneducated person when it comes to aquariums and aquatic life, I recently bought a little betta friend and tank, but didn't really know anything about caring for her or things I'd need. Petco had some answers, but I still didn't know much. I came to Splash and spent the better part of an hour speaking in depth with almost every member of staff, asking multiple questions and really trying to learn. I was extremely pleased with each and every member of staff, they are extremely knowledgeable and very patient in talking with you. I also really liked how they didn't make me feel like an idiot for not knowing anything. Very kind and courteous! I would highly recommend them and this business to anyone new or experienced with aquatic needs. I am extremely happy with the service I received and will definitely be back! :)

Experiencia negativa: 7d warranty is just a joke..They will test your water and say sth is wrong w/ the water no matter what, then refuse the replacement or refund. Glad I did not waste too much money here, many better options elsewhere.

Experiencia negativa: Ranchu goldfish and cherry shrimp died in less than 2 weeks. It had nothing to do with my tank and they both died slowly for some reason; I think they had a disease. My other fish from PetSmart and the fair are still healthy and thriving; only the ones from splash aquarium died‍♀️ Hopefully the disease they had didn’t spread to my other fish

Most pet stores I've been to have half the amount of variety, so this is a good place to start looking if you're close by. Sorry I didn't plan on taking pictures as I had guests and didn't want to take so long.

Experiencia negativa: Diseased/Poor Quality Fish; not helpful, knowledgeable, nor nice employees This review is only for the freshwater side and from a hobbyist with 20 years of experience. This is unfortunate to write because I used to be a big fan of splash aquarium and have been coming here for 5 years. Recent experiences have made me change my mind about this business. My negative review of splash is because the quality of fish and employees are now poor, to put it mildly. The straw that broke the camels back is that I got some seemingly healthy looking false julii corys. Unfortunately though, they were carriers of either bacterial or viral hemorrhagic septicemia. A particularly nasty strain too. It killed 1/3 of my tank's inhabitants, including most of my beautiful adult male congo tetras. About 20 fish in total despite my best efforts to quarantine and treat. The worst part was when I told the employee there to alert them they have a problem in their tanks or with their suppliers, they hardly seemed to care and nothing seemed to have been done about it. They made their money I guess. And for the last ~5 times I've gotten fish from them some ALWAYS die. This suggests that they have diseases throughout all their tanks. I didn't have this problem with them a couple years ago. Next are the employees. The old employees were so nice, helpful, and knowledgeable. The new employees are none of that. They never seem happy to be there. They never offer to help and even after you ask for help they can be quite slow. Employees will often be on their phones or just sitting instead of helping you. And most annoyingly, they barely know what they're talking about. One time one of their employees kept referring to pH as salinity (and they even have a saltwater section so you'd think they'd know better). Another time I was told over the phone a certain fish was in stock just to show up in person and see that they were not. Whenever I ask intermediate level questions I get short uninformative answers I could've gotten from a 2 second Google search. I also brought in some plants for trade-in and was chastised for not bunching them myself beforehand when no such mention was made over the phone. When trying to get credit for some of my dead fish I was given grief over a 0.2 pH difference between my tank and theirs.... The knowledge of these employees are barely better than petco fish specialists but nowhere near as pleasant. You'd expect more from a specialty store. I give it 2 stars because the selection is decent, decent prices, and the owner (or at least longest tenured employee) is nice and helpful (unlike everyone else). Unfortunately there are no better alternatives in the sac area now. Aquaworkz permanently closed years ago, exotic aquarium is closed indefinitely (and potentially permanently), and reptile and aquarium depot is worse (at least splash has a 7 day guarantee on their fish, even if they can be combative about it now). If you ever have the chance, check out aqua forest aquarium in san francisco. It's geared towards planted tanks and has much healthier fish with much more knowledgeable and helpful employees.

Experiencia fantástica: This is probably the only store in the area that has Discus fish and a variety. The pandemic cause serious issues with stock levels everywhere but it looks like there getting back to normal. The salt side is always growing and looks great every time.

Didn't have all what I was looking for but I did walk out with the majority of what I was looking for. They bought back my fish that well just got too big for my tank. By the way they have salt water fish and water if you need it. I will go back for all of my aquarium needs.
