Experiencia negativa: First, I don't want anyone reading this to decide not to go. You must judge and experience first hand. This place has become a money grab. Many things are expensive, and the quality of the atmosphere has changed. I've been here over 20 times cause I actually love this place. I'm doing this review in the hopes you improve. We need more bang for our buck. Also, please train the workers on friendliness and customer service. Of I'm going to spend over $300.00 for a family of three I'm going to need better treatment. Please take this review as constructive. I'm going to give you a few months and will return to see if this review was worth it. I will also delete this review if things are better. It's a good place, please make it good. Ty

Experiencia negativa: This review is about the restaurant only! The restaurant was terribly loud. The waitstaff seemed inexperienced. The food was awful. Everything was over salted. Salt is important but it doesn't replace seasoning. Overall, it was a moderately expensive epic fail!

Experiencia positiva: So parking is 15 we went as a group of 10 homeschooling Co op so there is a discount. Is educational and fun bc of the rides outside. I have 4 kids and 1 to 9. They all enjoyed it. Pro tip take a change of clothes so kids can play in the splash pad water

Experiencia fantástica: Speaking about the restaurant there first: I have food allergies. The chef was amazing. Took the time to talk to me about my needs and made some of the most delicious food ever. I felt very well looked after and I cant recommend this place highly enough. I regret I forgot the chefs name but absolutely love the place, the food and would go back just for the service. Next time Im in Houston I will definitely come back to eat here. I really hope the owner sees this and passes on the great feedback. Speaking of the aquarium..it was fun and worth the entrance cost. Great for all ages.

Experiencia positiva: So fun! Good for a short date or hangout. The rides are clearly for children but ferris wheel is for everyone. Touching the sting rays was the coolest part followed by the shark voyage

Experiencia fantástica: Went to the aquarium today and had a wonderful time. What really made the experience amazing was Iris. Iris was our server and she insured we had a fabulous time at dinner. I give her five stars!!!! And if I could give her 10 I would, thank you Iris for such a great evening.

Experiencia negativa: Walked through for abt 12 minutes then saw the gift shop it was over… Had to pay extra to see sharks ride rides and more not worth spending money on… we were there for 24 minutes and payed 15$ for parking what a waist of time. Would not recommend..

Experiencia negativa: Very little sea animals. Took about 15 mins to walk through. Not worth it at all. You have to pay for train ride to see a shark. Don’t waste your time or money.

Experiencia positiva: I was visiting Houston and decided to check out the aquarium in my down time. It's a surprisingly small aquarium for such a large city. They have a cool sting ray section which is interactive. You can walk through the place in about 30 minutes. The real treat, however, was the Bengal tiger exhibit, which featured two very amazing tigers. They were very playful with each other and unlike some zoos, they couldn't really hide from you. This exhibit really bumped up this place a notch. For this alone I recommend a visit.

Experiencia negativa: It was very small not worth the time. You can walk through it taking your time in 20-25 minutes. Everything outside is extra cost and parking is $15. Don’t expect to see Sharks in the aquarium, it’s an extra $10 per person and a separate 10 min ride for the “Shark Experience”

Experiencia fantástica: Super fun aquarium and small amusement park. Kids love all the different tanks. Rides are fun for our 8 and below kids.

Experiencia fantástica: This Aquarium was so much fun. From seeing fish to seeing tigers, to petting stingrays and riding the train to see real life sharks in a tunnel .. this place had amusement rides for all ages, places that kids can get face paintings(cost extra)people who drew pictures of you (if you want it but cost extra)and plenty of places to get food/drinks. We had a blast. I would definitely come back here. Even though it started raining while we were there, that didn’t stop us. We got soaked, but had fun doing it. The food was good and fresh and made right then. Definitely worth the money we spent. Would recommend for a family outing for sure.

Experiencia fantástica: 10/10 recommend for littles! My kids had such a fun time on the train watching the sharks right above us, the ferris wheels (yes both of them!), the carousel and the frog jumper. The staff was so friendly and my son even asked to have his birthday there!

Experiencia negativa: I had a flashback dream a long time ago about this creepy place that I didn’t know about where the fish swan in front of the stone background, a large cat was moving around and then just laying there which in all provided me concern. I had never sensed Houston before. I made the connection later in time and now previously of understanding possible concern coming from the fish. Then, I wasn’t sure about the care of the cat. This was before the hurricane hit. I am concerned this is labeled a tourist attraction.

Experiencia negativa: Basically a very expensive restaurant with a very small and short tour around a few interesting fish tanks. Also they have a tiger for some reason? It was in great distress when we visited and I can assume it was because it was in a pretty small enclosure without anything natural in sight. No grass, no windows, no natural light at all. Won't be going back. My 2 year old in his excitement made it through the tour in like 5 minutes, we asked if he could just walk it again but they told us we would have to buy new tickets..... very expensive

Experiencia negativa: Such a small place compared to the Aquarium in Chicago. Not sure why they put a couple of Bengal Tigers in the Aquarium The admission includes a few outdoor rides for little kids. The Aquarium takes about 30 mins to complete, parking on site is $15.50 (w/tax). This place is good for little kids under 8yr old.

Experiencia fantástica: We thought the aquarium was excellent and the outside area with rides, train and games was perfect for our 3 yr old granddaughter. Food and drinks very modestly priced and excellent. It’s a must for us next time in Houston

Experiencia fantástica: My parents used to take us here all the time when we were younger. We loved it! We sometimes would come 3times a month, the aquarium is small but we used to love getting into the rides. My favorite was the little train ride. I miss coming here because even though it would take like 20 minutes to do everything we still continued to stay there up to 4hours just doing the rides and little train, it was how our family bonded together and I miss that❤️

Experiencia fantástica: I’ve been here a few times, but I had to leave a review today because WOW everything was so spotless! I was seriously impressed. Every exhibit and fish tank was super clean, and the whole aquarium smelled amazing, like a fancy Vegas resort. It’s always so sad to see dead fish and dirty tanks at places like this, but that was definitely not the case here! We had a good time, though I wish the aquarium was bigger because we went through it pretty fast. My 2 year old had fun playing with her cousins, but honestly, what blew me away was how clean everything was! I even crawled on the floor in the tunnel by the tiger exhibit and felt like I could have probably licked the floor no problem. Anyways, fun little place!

Experiencia fantástica: My son loves the aquatic life and this was a great surprise. He was in love that he couldn’t even eat his food. Michela was GREAT HOST that we left her a great tip. She told us some much about the fish and we learn cool facts. It was a pleasant experience. Definitely 10/10 place to visit and ask for her

Experiencia positiva: It's cool but small. Takes about an hour and half to go through at most. The best part is the sharks but you have to buy an extra ticket and you are on a little train so you can only watch them for about 3 minutes at a time. It is pretty though.

A great variety of animals, including tigers. So if you don't mind the small location, then it's a great place!

Experiencia positiva: Chose this place as a detour from the mundane and the animals and fish did not disappoint. Regrettably short, but interesting. If you want self photo opportunities you may not have the best shots. Entry photo and gift shop were good and we didn't spend too much for the picture package where you can choose prints and have digital mementos for later.

Experiencia positiva: I enjoyed the aquarium my 8 year old loved the rides I was surprised by the restaurant and it's quality for the prices. Our waiter was Samuel and he was very attentive without being intrusive, a definite plus in my mind. I would very much recommend the oysters as they were on the higher end of quality. I would also recommend taking advantage of the Landry's Groupon tickets with the added gift card. It makes the whole visit very affordable.

Experiencia positiva: As others have shared, the aquarium is rather small compared to aquariums we’ve visited in other cities, but getting to see a big cat up close is a very unique experience for an aquarium. This and the train ride were the biggest highlights. Didn’t try the restaurant, so couldn’t say if it’s good or not. On a slower weekday visit, we did essentially everything in about 1 hour.

Experiencia fantástica: Absolutely best ambiance ever! Animal attractions were amazing and informative. The restaurant upstairs was top notch. George was the best server ever!!! Food was scrumdiddlyumptious!!!!! They even brought out a mock dessert tray! The entire time we were watching the sea life perform for us, super pretty… definitely worth it! Super idea to get a City Pass!

We even got to see tigers, which was a surprise to us! The stingray reef was fun too, the stingrays were loving being fed the little shrimps by the kids

Experiencia fantástica: A fun and robust aquarium experience. Exhibits feature the usual range of fish, jellies, crustaceans, eels, etc., along with a significant number of terrestrial animals - tortoises, lizards, frogs, and so forth. They also host tigers and a stingray-petting tank, which are ibcluded in ticket price. The rides outside are fun carnival-style attractions, and the combination price for aquarium and unlimited rides is very good - as is the price for a simple aquarium ticket. I was pleasantly surprised by the value and had no real complaints, and would recommend the aquarium as an outing for all ages - small children up through adults. Our entire party was adults and we enjoyed our trip greatly.

Experiencia fantástica: We had Mother's Day brunch here, and it was amazing, food, service, everything was first class. Took the kiddos through the Aquarium after, let them play games and ride the rides. Just a heads up There's the sprinkler area, and even if you didn't plan on, letting your kids play in it. Just bring towels an extra change of clothes, or bathing suits altogether. We weren't planned for the sprinklers, but the kids always love getting in them, and we let our kids be kids. So they went home with sopping wet clothes but smiles on their faces. Altogether great mother's day.

Experiencia fantástica: This is such a fun place for the family. I visited on my 8hr layover in Houston. So it is a great run away from the airport if you are looking for something fun to do!

Experiencia positiva: My son and I had an amazing time at the aquarium, although I was surprised to see that there were less aquarium related things at the aquarium. The restaurant was the best part of the visit and our server Howard was so very amazing! I do believe this location can be a great starter location for children that have never visited the aquarium before as to not be overstimulated or overwhelmed.

Experiencia fantástica: We visited the Downtown Aquarium for my mom’s birthday. The food was very good and the portions were large. The meal included a basket of bread. The main attraction of the restaurant was the tank that was in the middle of the restaurant. It was filled with many different fish. Parking is available for $15.

Experiencia positiva: It’s okay, but I expected more It’s a decent spot for a quick outing with kids, but honestly, it left me wanting more. Not all of the staff were friendly, and overall it felt like the experience lacked energy and excitement. The entire walkthrough took about 15 minutes, which felt pretty short. I wish there were more interactive areas or activities to make it more engaging. It’s fine to visit once, but I wouldn’t rush back.

Experiencia positiva: Went there for a school field trip, the poor tiger looked kind of desperate walking around can't begin to imagine how they feel to be basically trapped in that small room they are in. But in the other hand it was fine the ferris wheel ride for kids was a bit disappointing since it was just like a really short ride, and they will stop and let someone get out then someone in, a bit disappointing. The train ride line took forever. We stand there for like 1 hr, so I will recommend to first go to the train ride so you won't be exhausted and annoyed after all the waiting. Overall, it was fine. My son had fun with his friends

Experiencia negativa: ITS SO SMALL The place is build like a old man made it in the back of their shack for extra money. Theirs cool fish but not many. I have no idea what spiders, lions and snakes correlate with a aquarium, over all not a very big place or enough animals to remember VERY EXPENSIVE FOR WHAT IT OFFERS it was 6 people and I would of thought something between $70-80 but NO it was +$110 felt like I got scammed. So we decided to go to the game areas, +$5 FOR WACH GAME the place is so over priced. I might even end up overpaying for this review

Experiencia fantástica: The ribeye was cooked to perfection. We also got the crab dip and it was great! We ordered non alcoholic drinks and you can tell they were actually handmade drinks not just poured into a glass. The wait staff was amazing and walking through the park after dinner was a great way to wind down from such a stressful week. It's really shocking how much they fit in to what seems like a small area. As someone who is typically kid averse I will say it didn't bother me one bit because the kids were all so entertained or in awe over all the creatures to behold. Simply calling it the downtown aquarium is quite deceptive because it is so much more! For what you get and how long you can spend there it really is a great value. For any who disagree, if you knew more about the inner working of their animal program you might change your mind. There are great stories behind a lot of the park and animals there. This is a great place to start your night or end your night in houston

Experiencia positiva: A very nice place. I recommend it 100%. I didn't give it 5 stars because we went on a school trip...we were a special education class. We were a group of 20 people, and when it was time to use the train, it was agreed that we would ride in two groups because the regular line was so long. So we did. On the second ride, the person in charge of the train ignored us and decided to let those in the regular line ride, so we had to split up into two more groups. Please pay attention and empathize with special needs children.

Experiencia positiva: This was a fun experience for the family. We purchased the full experience and it was worth it. I would suggest this to anyone that comes. Lots to see and do. Just make sure that you get in line for the train before 4pm. We also ate at the restaurant, which I don't recommend. It cost too much to be that plain. Most of the food tasted like it had been frozen, or prepared in advance.

Experiencia positiva: Talk about boring! This was probably the worst aquarium I ever visited. Not sure why tigers are at the aquarium but maybe that’s to pull visitors in. I observed guests not following rules placing their arms into the sting ray pool. I was hoping… never mind. Some of the reptiles were missing. There were some cool things but not much. My overall experience was, eh. If you do not have small kids, I’d skip the all day pass. It’s not worth it.

Experiencia positiva: This was one of the smallest aquariums I’ve been to and a section had been blocked off for a private event. The coolest part was the train ride and the tiger, otherwise there wasn’t much else to it. My niece enjoyed the rides, and only one food spot was open.

Experiencia positiva: My high school senior is headed to college for Marine Biology so we visit aquariums when we travel. We were in Houston for the FIRST World Championships and decided to visit the aquarium on the day we were leaving. Such a disappointment. The aquarium is so small. And when I say small -- I mean my morning walks are longer than the walk through the aquarium. The best part was the shark tank which you have to take the train to get to. They only had one train running so the wait was much longer. It was informative and very cool. But the rest? Definitely not worth it. Especially for the price. We decided to go to the restaurant for lunch. Our waitress was very kind and respectful, the appetizers and lunch food had good flavor, and sitting while surrounded by aquariums was pretty cool. Oh -- dont forget to get the lava cake. Takes about 15-20min to take but oh so worth it. We went on Easter so their menu was "limited" but I felt we had plenty of options. Honestly I could see why parents of little kids would like it here because of the rides included. But some people had little care for others and let their kids scream at lunch and jump on and over the chairs. It was a mixed impression.

Experiencia positiva: You have options for whether you spend more time and see everything with a pass, or get individual tickets if you want to spend less time and see only the things you are interested in.

Experiencia fantástica: Finally one of these tourist trap that has good food. I m gladly trapped in this beautiful restaurant with an amazing aquarium. Seating is 360 around the aquarium. There is also a small but beautiful/romantic bar area. We had the gumbo , new Orleans plate and the kids fish plate. All very good, a little bit too salty in the gumbo. I suggest ordering extra plain rice for the gumbo to soak up the saltiness. The shrimps are amazing, creole cream sauce is yum. I'm grateful that this restaurant provides food as well as an amazing environment for the family

Experiencia negativa: The tiger and the outdoor rides and splash pad were the best parts. The fish were ordinary nothing overly exotic. They had a huge snapping turtle and large catfish. No sharks or large fish. The price was fair, didn’t eat in the restaurant, but small children will enjoy a visit here. My teenager was bored. We went on a Saturday and used the valet parking service which was excellent, and a great price. It was pretty crowded at 1pm and had to wait to see things because it was standing room only in front of the tanks. We wanted to go to the touch tanks but it smelled so bad we did not go. The Ferris wheel ride was good other than the operator kept stopping it letting people on and off. We only did three turns with out him stopping and they weren’t in a row.

Experiencia positiva: It's a nice place to show your kids something different, but not as diverse as other places. The only thing that makes a difference is the Bengal Tiger, that was nice to see.

Experiencia negativa: I was so disappointed. Every video that I watched hypes the aquarium up so much. It was so small and expensive was not worth it since we walked through the entire thing in like 15 minutes if that. The one in Denver, Colorado now that aquarium is huge, and the Shark area is included in your general admission for no additional fee and it’s bigger than the Houston one. That’s just my opinion ‍♀️.

Experiencia positiva: We did the aquarium and ate at the restaurant (used a Groupon…March 2025) with my husband and 4 kids. It was fun to be able to do the aquarium (although super small on the inside) and then go up to the restaurant which we were all pleasantly surprised. It is really cool with the floor to ceiling aquarium and the food was great with nice portions. I definitely want to do the restaurant again and try something new. I would have given 5 stars if the aquarium was bigger and maybe if they release the out of place tiger at the end.

Experiencia fantástica: The Houston downtown aquarium is a great option to spend some quality time with your family, or someone special! I recommend you to get the bracelet that includes all activities (train, Ferris wheel, etc)

Experiencia fantástica: It was busy, as it was during Spring Break. My nephew and I had a good time. We got day passes and ate lunch in the restaurant.

Experiencia positiva: Disappointment mostly: over-priced. I saw multiple reviews with 1 stars stating the same. We were only offered the aquarium pass, and assumed everything else was ala cart. The all day adventure pass for $25.99 might have been worth it, but everything outside seemed to be closed due to rain. I called ahead, and they said it takes about 2 hours to get through the aquarium. Google says 3 hours. huh? We were hungry so we started at the restaurant. We really liked the aquarium tank in the restaurant and the food was really good; Not so much for the aquarium... We were in and out of there in about 20-25 minutes. I could guess 3 hours if you include the time at the restaurant, the aquarium, the games and rides, checking out the photo, and the stingray reef. Ala cart pricing could run upwards towards $62 plus $20-$40 for a photo package and $7 or $18 for general parking or valet.

Experiencia fantástica: We went on a Thursday during spring break and the crowds were not bad. The weather was beautiful and we had a lot of fun seeing the aquarium exhibits indoors and enjoying the carnival rides and games outdoors. We bought our tickets in advance online and that saved some time for entry.

Experiencia positiva: Very reasonable price for all the adventures. My 9 year old son and his friends enjoyed the rides, dissecting a squid, touching a stingray and learning about the white tiger that came from India.

Experiencia positiva: If you have small kids, this is the perfect place. The attractions take no more than 40-45 minutes. You could pair that up with the attraction rides and food. That would then occupy your afternoon. For older kids with a true interest in sea animals, it is a bit underwhelming. My daughter was looking for more attractions to keep her interest. We visited the aquarium in Atlanta and…enough said.

Both dishes were seasoned wonderfully and cooked to perfection. The veggies complemented the fish sauce beautifully. Despite being in a rush, the staff was incredibly accommodating, ensuring we had a smooth dining experience. The decor of the restaurant added an extra touch of charm to our visit. Highly recommend!

We had the opportunity to explore and engage with all exhibits, including touching stingrays, observe tigers, enjoyed a mini train ride to the shark voyage tunnel. Souvenir shopping, dining, and rides were also a nice experience for the kids. The staff were so informative, patient, and friendly (ensured a smooth and efficient experience with minimal wait time) Valet parking is also available for a convenient and hassle free visit.

Experiencia positiva: Had a good time. The restaurant and its aquarium are pretty spectacular. Our waitresses was very knowledable about the food and the fish in the restaurant aquarium. The train ride to the sharks was enjoyable too. At my age I have seen many aquariums and there were still several exibits in the main areas that we interacted with. And last but far from least they 2 tigers which were icing on the cake.

I ordered the blackened redfish and was impressed—it was cooked perfectly, with a solid seasoning profile that didn’t overpower the fish itself. The sides were standard, nothing groundbreaking, but executed well enough to round out the plate. Service was attentive without being intrusive, and while pricing is on the higher end, you're partially paying for the ambiance and location. It’s worth it if you want a meal that’s more than just food—it’s an experience. Overall: solid food, excellent atmosphere, and a memorable place to dine if you're visiting.

Experiencia fantástica: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Amazing Experience at Downtown Aquarium Houston! Our visit to the Downtown Aquarium in Houston was absolutely fantastic! We got to pet stingrays, see a majestic tiger, and explore some incredible sea life—it was both fun and educational. One of the highlights was the train ride, where we even got to learn about Houston’s history in such a unique way! The rides were a great bonus, and the best part? They’re perfect for families—you can even ride with little ones and infants. The restaurant inside was top-notch, with great service and delicious food, making the whole experience even better. If you’re looking for a fun-filled adventure for all ages, this is the place to go! We had an unforgettable time and will definitely be back

Experiencia negativa: This was a waste of time and money. I took my teenage daughters and neice and the overall experience was lacking. It started with a disorganized front entrance with very little line control and nobody around to answer questions. We bought tickets online, yet we had to get in one line and then another line that wrapped around the front. Once inside it was chaotic since the photo op was mere feet inside the door stalling progress. The actual facility is just a winding path or hallway that would get crowded and congested with people and strollers. The stingray area smelled horrible and the restaurant was directly above the stingray area. The outside was much nicer and fun. Looking at the building from the outside, one would think the inside would be amazing and vast; however, the aquarium was only on the first floor and the rest was the restaurant and banquet rooms. Overall not worth the price!

Experiencia positiva: Overall a great experience! The rides were fun for our little kids and the lines the day we came were reasonable. If it was very busy I would not have had nearly as good a time but I guess that's luck of the draw. The aquarium part was much shorter than expected so I'm knocking a star off for that.

Experiencia negativa: Not worth it the aquarium portion was so small I was left in shock when it was over, to see the sharks you have to pay for the train or get the ride pass with the aquarium ticket the train only last 3min min in the shark tunnel. The rides available for small kids are Ferris wheel, carousel, and a hopper, 1 all ages being the Ferris wheel and one that’s over 42in. They do have some carnival games but just to throw one dart it’s $5. If I was you just go to the zoo the water animal portion was bigger and cooler than the aquarium and you get to see more animals.

Experiencia fantástica: We had a great day! We started having our lunch at the restaurant, the food was delicious and the service amazing, it was super cool eating around the fish tank. Then, we walked around the aquarium, it’s not too big, but nice. We had a lot of fun with the rides and the train. We ended very tired, but it really worth it. I recommend to visit this place.

Experiencia positiva: Great little aquarium, definitely smaller than anticipated but still an excellent attraction to visit. To see the sharks you need to take a little train they have on site to get there- I wish there was an option for you to walk there for people with multiple children and are stroller dependent. Petting the stingrays and visiting the tiger was definitely a highlight for us. In addition to the aquarium, they also have a small amusement park outside which was a cool twist. Super fun visit for families or individuals looking to break up the day!

Experiencia fantástica: We dined in at the downtown aquarium restaurant the laundries and we had a great time. Our server name was Brian and he did an amazing job. We got checked on by Steven, which was amazing. The best hospitality. I really enjoyed it. Experiencia negativa: The only thing I liked were the fish but even then it was kind of hard to enjoy them without the crowd of people there. It was also very short, If you have kids who enjoy it stuff like this go for it they love it. With friends it feels like a 10 minute activity.
