🗣️ Delphinus Playa Mujeres: Reviews
Positive experience: The aquarium was pretty basic but I am so glad to have done the underwater walking interactive tour! I will never forget the feeling of fish swimming by me and touching my legs!
Negative experience: RIP OFF!!!!!@ The experience is great but at the end they give you 3 photos packages starting $257.00 for 10 photos. They dont allow you to take photos on your own. Then they make you wait 5 hours before you can download them. even though on these excursions in the jungle w/o wifi you get your photos immediately. Rip off .. you pay $109 per person for the experience and then $257.00 for the photos. $657.00 for a 30 minute experience. One photo is $39 each. Now that you have the pricing up front ....be mindful before booking.
Fantastic experience: Diego was our guide for the whale shark excursion. He was enthusiastic and very knowledgeable!! His goal was to get us the best experience possible and it surely was! One of the best days of my whole life!!! ¡el mejor del mundo! -Jason & Nicole (Dallas, TX)
thank you for your comment!

Negative experience: I went to this place because my company organized a dolphin-watching activity in Mexico. Before we started, the staff told us that the dolphins were in open water. But then you realize that the 4 or 5 dolphins are actually kept in a jail, around 100x100 meters. The dolphins are treated like puppets, performing tricks just to get food. Honestly, it was a very sad experience. It’s hard to believe that in 2025 we still have places like this, where animals live in captivity. I hope this place is shut down soon and that animals can live in freedom. Also, they asked us to leave all cameras and phones before seeing the dolphins. You’re not allowed to take your own pictures, but they take photos and sell them for over $30 each, and $45 for a printed one. It’s a tourist trap and a scam.
I would like to share with you some information about your concern of our dolphins.
I can tell you that the dolphins under our care live in conditions of animal welfare, which is a science because it can be measured and improved upon. The World Association of Zoos and Aquariums developed a model of the 5 domains where, in addition to nutrition, veterinary care, healthy environment and behavior management, they also focus on the animal’s mental state. Covering everything needed to offer the best mental state to any kind of animals: dolphins, bears, elephants, snakes or birds.
Delphinus has specific accreditations for wild animals under human care in zoos and aquariums, such as Humane Conservation by American Humane, the Alliance of Marine Mammals Parks and Aquariums, AMMPA, and the International Marine Animal Trainers' Association, IMATA.
Some people might think that dolphins in human care become stressed or bored by the space available to them when they are under human care, but several studies published in recent years have found some interesting things (please consult it: https://www.jzar.org/jzar/article/view/491):

Negative experience: Experience was cool but the cost of the pictures really put a damper on the total experience. $250 for 12 pics and over $300 for all of them. One pic was $55.
Negative experience: Bad experience with the picture. They forbide you to take picture. Then the guy who took picture told us 40 usd for picture and at the end when we wanted to buy they said it is 130 usd for one picture family. Too bad. This story has damaged the experience. It sounds like a riping off of tourist
"Good day! Our pricing is as follows in your case: $40 per individual photo or $130 for a package deal that includes many more.
If you would like to contact us to get your package:

Best regards,
Negative experience: I would never recommend this place to anyone. Really bad experience, and bad customer service. They will try to robe you for the pictures. They don't charge same price to everyone, they know where you came and they will try to charge $260+ for 10 pictures. We were family of 4 wanted to purchase pictures for the memories. We asked other family of 4 and they were charged only $150 for 12 pictures. Be careful PURCHASING PICTURES. Try to buy me be 1 or 2 pictures only which cost $45 each.
Hello, good day! The photo price is a per-person fee based on the program. Since not everyone has the same program, the photo prices vary accordingly. The more photos you buy, the lower the price per photo.
Best regards!"
Negative experience: Honestly, this place is a total RIP-OFF. 1. While we agreed for a certain fee for the service and transportation. They charged us $30 after the dolphin show to go back to our hotel which is 8min away. Initially, they told us that the price includes the way to and from Delphinus Playa Mujeres. 2. Their price for pictures is outrageous. Packages cost between $200-300, and if you want to buy only 1 pic it would cost $45. This is ridiculous and unreasonable. I would have a personal photoshoot for $200-300. I travel a lot and it’s my first time ever seeing a single picture that costs $45! Moreover, you cannot take pictures on your own phone! 3. I think this place just makes money on tourists. I don’t like places that conduct this kind of business. Because it’s not business but a RIP-OFF. 4. Very rude workers. Workers need to be trained on how to interact with clients from all around the world. Overall, very sad experience. Please, avoid this place!
Dear Aizat,
We are sorry to hear that your experience with us did not meet your expectations. We would like to take a moment to address the concerns you have raised.
Our transportation fees are $10 per person in certain instances, and the photo prices are in line with industry standards and comparable to other establishments offering similar activities worldwide.
With regard to the alleged poor treatment by our staff, we would greatly appreciate it if you could provide more specific details, as we strive to maintain the highest standards of service to ensure that our visitors have a delightful and enjoyable experience while interacting with our dolphins.
Thank you for your feedback,
Negative experience: I am very disappointed! The experience was incredible and we enjoyed the dolphins so much except for my 7 years old daughter that got scared with the ocean waves and cried the whole time. The instructor was great and she made the experience with the dolphin a 5 stars. However, they don't let you bring your camera and at the end they wanted to charge us $580!!! They said it was because we were 8 people: my 4 kids, my inlaws, my husband and I. The chepeast option was $460!!! The staff kept saying because we were 8 but my daughter didn't do anything and she didn't get any pictures. The photographer asked how much I could afford and I told him $200, which was too much still but my mother in law was going to helped us pay for 1/2 the price. They said no, but when we were leaving the photographer came to me and said they were going to left us have all the pictures for $212. But this was a lie, he left and told us that his manager was going to help us. She then informed us that it was just for 12 pictures!!! I don't like that they lied to us. The family of 4 that did the experience with us, bought a whole package and they paid $268 for all their pictures which were 37 pictures. I asked the manager if I could have the same amount of pictures for the same price for my family and she said she was already doing us a favor of 12 pictures for $212....unbelievable!!! Yesterday we did a 7 hours excursion to Xenotes for 5 people and we had a photographer for the entire day and took like 200+ pictures and he only charged us $125. In summary, the dolphin experience in the ocean is great but the pictures is a ripoff!!! They don't let you bring your phone even if you have a waterproof case. So then, they can charge astronomical prices! This was my husband's 50th birthday celebration activity and we left with no memories of this amazing encounter with this beautiful dolphin. Very sad and disappointed that this company is so greedy that ruins the experience.
Negative experience: These dolphins are kept in tiny cages. It was absolute disturbing to see these poor dolphins in cramped cages so people can “swim with them” for fun. This establishment needs to be shut down, and people should be ashamed to fund this disgusting animal abuse.
Positive experience: I enjoyed the experience, the staff members were pleasant, informative, and translated everything into English for us. The price was expensive to me. Around $300 for the full experience. There were cheaper packages but we chose the highest level one. You can't take your phone or cameras with you. You have to place all of your belongings into a locker before walking to the water. They will take photos for you and then charge you another $200 to $300 for a picture package at the end. They assisted us with getting a life vest on and informed us about the safety rules. The water was a bit choppy which made it hard to stay on the gridded area so we could stand in the water. It is the ocean and we fully understand the weather and water roughness isn't something that the facility can't control but if you are taking your children into the water, this is something to be mindful about. They will not refund you your money if it rains the day that you planned to be with the dolphins. You can reschedule for a different day but no refunds! The dolphins were gentle and the experience was pleasant. There was a lot of plastic floating around in the dolphin area which was disturbing to me but I understand that it comes in from the tourist and the ocean currents.
thank you for your comment,
regards!
Negative experience: Ugh. No stars!! Please avoid...This place is just horrible. I can see the enclosure from the nearby resort i am staying at, and it makes me sick to know and see the dolphins suffering every day!! They are in a small (no shade from sun), prison, forced to do tricks .. Please end the torture of dolphins. It's 2025 enough is enough. Exploiting them for pics all to profit . Dolphins deserve to be free and see them in the wild . Stop teaching children that this is ok !! Regardless of how you respond no dolphin/ animal should ever be stolen from their home and forced to look at freedom everyday without ever getting to be free.
Negative experience: Terrible. Do not go. Save your money. Rip off. Barely get to experience the dolphins. Herded in. Herded out. Photo packages are so expensive.
Hello!
Our programs are 30 minutes or 45 minutes long and are limited to a maximum of 10 people, ensuring a personalized experience with the dolphins.
Our visitors are not herded, they need to follow some very simple instructions, as it's essential to remember it´s an activity with animals.
Regards,
Negative experience: My review has nothing to do with the dolphins or the conditions they are kept in. These are all subjective opinions of people. My review is about the professionalism of the staff. Back story… we’re here on a make a wish trip for our 10 year old niece who is terminal with cancer. She wheel chair bound with limited mobility. Knowing her experience would be limited, this was her only desire for the whole trip. Being in the water with them and touching them would have been enough. So you can well imagine our hopes for the day. Upon arrival the staff showed us a misrepresentation video clip of the water conditions as they were a bit high and that if we didn’t feel comfortable we could reschedule. But if we went on the dock, we’re committed. Almost EVERY member of our party got injured with the waves. We made the attempt to try the waters but the waves just smashed us back into the dock. My wife grabbed the mesh and her hands got shredded and a wave smashed her head into the underside of the platform. My sister in law has scratches and bruises up and down her legs. The kids were terrified and crying. This all happened while 6 staff members stood on the platform watching us all struggle to get out of the water offering no assistance. Minimal first aid was offered. The first aid girl didn’t even know how to apply a bandaid. They were more concerned and pushy to get us off the beach away from other potential customers. Total time on the platform and in water was between 5-7 min They refused an on site refund saying we went on the dock knowing the water conditions. These people are supposed to be the professionals and not have left the decision of our safety up to us. None of us thought this could have happened beciase we trusted them. But these staff should have. They put our money ahead of our safety. We told every customer in line with young kids that this even is not safe today and to come back on a calmer surf day. Note to Delphinus: If your reply to this post is anything less than an apology like in May of the other 1 star reviews, then you’re just trying to save face.
First and foremost, I would like to apologize for the inconvenience that arose during your visit. We had also been looking forward to providing a wonderful dolphin program, as this occasion was very special, and we made every effort to make it happen. Unfortunately, the weather conditions were poor and deteriorated further during your brief stay.
The program was canceled due to safety concerns. I deeply regret that you were unable to continue, that some of you were injured by the strong waves, and most of all, that we failed to fulfill your dream. It was a sad experience for everyone, for all of us.
I spoke with your niece's mother and offered to reschedule for a day of their choice. She mentioned that some group members were departing on Tuesday, and I also gave her a cute stuffed dolphin, it's not enough, just a little something.
A full refund was provided to all of you.
The subsequent schedule was also canceled.
At all times, you were treated with utmost respect and sensitivity to the purpose of your visit.
I hope everyone is doing well now.
Thank you,
Negative experience: I give this a 1/10 experience. Unfortunately, the weather in Cancun is horrible right now. It’s super windy And cold. I did this dolphin excursion on my birthday to get out of my comfort zone and do something exciting. Due to the weather, I did not enjoy my experience. They do not offer a refund for canceling due to the weather, however, they will allow you to reschedule. The instructor was amazing. I’m not sure what her name is, but she is the reason why I’m even giving this place a star. However, after the excursion they take you into a room for you to view your photos and they charge over US$250 for the photos. Upon looking at my photos, I realized that 75% of them came out terrible due to me not looking happy because the water was cold. There were only about five photos that were nice. However, if I chose to buy the photos individually, they would be $30 each photo. And I didn’t want to spend US$250 for all photos. The gentleman in charge of negotiating and bargaining with guest became dismissive at the end once he realized that I wasn’t going for paying an absurd amount of money for these photos. I was upset, leaving the excursion with no memories of this fun experience I had on my birthday. However, I tipped the instructor for being so awesome and so kind and a great attitude.
Hello!
Thank you for your comment, We´ve emailed you with the option to buy the few photos you liked.
We are so sorry you couldn't enjoy as expected becasue of the weather.
Regards,
Negative experience: It was awful. Can't imagine poor dolphins how it must be to live jailed there. Please stop that...they are no entertainment.
Negative experience: Experience with dolphins obviously good, especially for kids and whilst expensive it’s a memory for them…until you come in and the price for photos is $450 for all photos with the cheapest bundle being $260 (for 12)…knowingly not flagged up front and leave kids to pick photos before showing pricing - honestly would be ashamed to be associated with this company who openly said it’s a business and for “rich people”
Hello Mr. Beirin:
Yesterday I have this report from our staff, and it was definitely a misunderstanding, as English is not our first language.
We apologize for that.
Thank you!
Negative experience: Dolphins are cute but photos are far too overpriced 320 USD is ridiculous. Will not return ever! And didn’t even warn anyone how absurd the prices are. It cost more for photos than the actual event.
Good Morning!
Thank you for your comment. We have different photo packages and prices. If you want to contact us, we can find the right for you, we will be happy to help you.
Regards,
Positive experience: Overall, we had a good experience with friendly staff and a decent time for activities with dolphins. However, their upscale picture prices displeased the entire experience. You should be ready to pay USD$300 for 12 pics, and rates go higher if you need to get all your pictures. We had fun, but failed to capture our dolphin interaction in a photo memory!
Hello!
Thank you for your comment, it help us to improve the experience.
regards,
Negative experience: Terrible !!! Free the dolphins ! They are in such a small place poor them. They don’t belong here. I went to see the installation and it was very bad. Plastic was floating all around. Bad conditions for dolphins. Very sad.
Negative experience: Dolphin time was extremely short and photo packages are absolutely ridiculously priced!
Hello! Thank you for your comment,
We have 30 and 45 min programs. Yours was a 30 min program with 8 people, and that's the time you have to enjoy the encounter with our dolphins.
Best regards,
Negative experience: Awful experience today. They should have cancelled due to terrible downpours and wind. Instead, they didn’t want to lose money so forced us in the water with the dolphins. It was a very unpleasant and unsafe experience being slammed by the wind into the metal grates, having to turn our backs to the dolphins and miss whatever tricks they were trying to make them do because rain was pelting our bodies and faces and we couldn’t even see what was happening. The dolphins were very scratched up and look to be in poor condition as well. I still can’t believe they tried to keep “the show going” at our expense. We were freezing and forced to walk pretty far to get back inside, where there are no showers inside. Then, they tried to sell us on awful pictures. They didn’t even take photos of most of the experience and when we asked why, they said, “the conditions were very poor”. When I asked why didn’t they cancel the activity if conditions were so poor, they refused to answer. I will be disputing the charge for this booking with my credit card company and would not recommend this company to anyone.
Good morning,
You made a reservation for a dolphin with catamaran tour.
During the dolphin program a very heavy rain began, we made the best we could with the conditions we had, after the program you wanted to cancel the catamaran, (otherwise you could have rescheduled) we helped you and took you back to your hotel for free.
Dolphins have a very sensitive skin, they play a lot and scratches with their teeth as all animals does, It doesn't mean they're hurt.
We are certified by American Humain and other international and national institutios due animal welfare.
Thank you,
Negative experience: Wanted to book this with my 8 year old. My wife wanted to stand on the dock & hold our infant daughter and take pictures. They would not let her out or the baby without paying full price. Make sure you ask about pictures before you go. They won't let you take any pictures and want you to buy from them. The pictures are as much as the experience & doesn't even include a digital. Rip off scam
Hello!
For your bennefit and our dolphins, the programs have many activities that have to be carried out at a certain time. Imagine that we let everybody take pictures, we'd have time to cover all.
Thank you for your comment.
Negative experience: My family of four (two adults, kids age 8 and 5) booked this through our resort. My parents also joined us to watch their grandkids swim with the dolphins. They failed to mention to us upon booking that the grandparents would not be able to watch from the dock and they had to stay at the beach and just wait for us to finish, they didn't get to see it at all. The only reason I can think of is because they don't want them to be able to take pictures so that they can charge you $300 to sell the pictures to you. I'm sure they'll respond to my review and say that it is a safety issue, but then give the grandparents a life jacket on the dock. Everyone was super disappointed and I felt awful for dragging my parents on a bus just to sit at a beach and wait for us. This was my third time swimming with dolphins and this was the least enjoyable experience because they clearly don't care about you, just the money. Everything we did do with the dolphins was fun but we couldn't fully enjoy it because we had to pose for a picture with each activity. I was so annoyed but I didn't want to ruin the fun for my kids so I didn't say anything. I just wish they would have let my kids enjoy the experience. My kids don't have instagram, they don't want the photos, they want to just enjoy the dolphins. I realize they have no control over the waves, but it was absolutely miserable for my 5 year old that kept going underwater and my 8 year old that kept getting pulled into the grates along the dock. There's a platform to stand on, but it is about 5 feet under the surface so if you're shorter than 5'5 you're just floating and violently slamming into the dock. I have several cuts on my legs that were bleeding when I got out. I suggest going to a more controlled location where the dolphins are in a pen. I understand that the real ocean water is probably better for the dolphins but if you're paying an insane amount of money to swim with them, then you might as well go somewhere you can enjoy it. The snorkeling that came with the package was also simply not available because the water had 0 visibility and we were not compensated for that. Overall this is incredibly overpriced for what it is. I'd skip this place and opt for an enclosure style especially if you have young children. I hope they will read this and use it to make the experience better for other families.
Hello, I'm sorry you haven't had all the information provided by your agency during your visit, that was in a Hurricane week.
It's correct your appreciation, as the companions can't be on the deck because it is no safe for anyone but the operation crew. And the habitat is so big that it is difficult to see the activity from the beach.
As you know, We just went through a hurricane, however, we don´t stop making programs for the dolphins welfare, and before the activity starts we gave you all the information about habitat conditions so you could decide whether or not continue. Also, we knew there were no option for snorkel with no visibility at all, and we did compensate, we gave more activities and cover the time to spend with the dolphins the whole program.
Thank you very much for your comments, regards!
Fantastic experience: This was a once in a lifetime experience! You can tell Delphinus cares so much about their dolphins health and happiness. We got to snorkel, swim, and foot push with these incredible dolphins. Their trainers have a special relationship with the dolphins, and it was truly magnificent to witness. I would recommend for anyone looking for an exhilarating and beautiful excursion!
Thank you for your comment, we do love them so much! they are so beautiful in all means.
Regards,
Positive experience: Great experience, friendly staff. The full 45min experience is the only way. Ant use your own cameras so be prepared for a hefty expense if you want to take home and evidence that you actually swam with dolphins.
Thanks for your comment, we are so happy you enjoyed with our dolphins .
Negative experience: This is a nightmare, these animals have a natural range of miles, here their enclosure so small *I* can swim it's perimeter in under 10 min. It's an environment lacking stimuli or variety. This is equivalent of a 10 by 10 room to live your entire life.
Hello! thanks for your comment, you might think that dolphins in human care become stressed or bored by the space available to them when they are under human care, but several studies published in recent years have found some interesting things (please consult it: https://www.jzar.org/jzar/article/view/491):
In the largest international study published in August 2021 that has been carried out with cetaceans under human care and in which we participated with 23% of the total sample of dolphins, interesting conclusions were obtained:
More important than the space available, what makes the difference in the quality of life of the dolphins, are the activities with which they are mentally stimulated. These activities are called “environmental enrichment”.
Positive experience: Great experience for my kids. We stayed at Dreams, and it was right on the resort! I waa told we couldn't go on the boardealk or walk up to see the kids, but there waa a parent that walked up and took pictures of their children. One worker wouldn't let me on the boardwalk, but another let myself and others wait there to stay out the heat. I also had an infant with me and appreciated that he let us under the awning on the boardwalk!
Positive experience: We went the morning of the tropical storm in July 2024. They rushed us and were getting upset at us for not listening but honestly it was because we couldn’t hear. The wind was blowing, the waves were strong for us to completely enjoy the experience. We saw that buying pictures started at $200 usd with a max of like $300 but after we declined, they offered us $50 usd per printed picture with a frame. They were lucky that the dolphins were so cute!
Hello! thanks for your comment,
It wasn't a tropical storm, it was a mayor huracain approaching to us.
We are used to go on with the activity even in thoses conditions, as we are in an open water habitat. We know it's difcult to hear and for you riding the waves it's not easy neither, but surely you had a great time!
Best regards,
Negative experience: We really enjoyed our time with the dolphins. The trainers and staff were great. Even our two teenagers enjoyed it. What really turned the experience negative is the appalling prices they want for pictures. You cannot bring your own camera/phone, so if you want any photo memories from your experience, they completely take advantage of you and charge obscene prices, (ranging from $280 to $425USD for a family of 4) for their own pictures. It really ruined an otherwise fun family experience.
Dear visitor,
Thank you for your visit. It is not permitted to bring cameras, cell phones, or any electronic items for the safety of both visitors and our specimens. All of our activities are schedule and if we wait for taking your own pictures, the won’t be able to finish all the activities in time and order. That’s why we have professional photographers that they already know about the best angle and the best moment to take pictures.
It's truly unfortunate that you've judged our service solely based on your perception of photo prices rather than the service received. Additionally, it's important to highlight that a significant portion of the revenue generated from photo package sales supports our social responsibility programs, such as school visits for underprivileged children, aid for associations supporting abused women, beach clean-ups, and overall welfare initiatives for our specimens. These efforts also include joint research to prevent dolphin-specific diseases.
For a brilliant blue planet.
Negative experience: We booked a dolphin swim (supreme package) for myself and my boyfriend. I feel the upsell and the description of our tour did not match what we received. We paid extra to snorkel with the dolphins but the snorkelling portion was about 5 minutes and all we did was put the snorkel mask on and watch the dolphin swim back and forth in front of us a few times while we stood on the platform. We specifically booked this excursion because we were told we'd be able to snorkel which didn't happen. The dolphins have scratches all over their bodies. The trainer told us the scratches are from the dolphins playing with each other but it's clear that the markings came from the dolphins rubbing up on the bars of the enclosure. They don't allow cellphones or any kind of camera near the dolphin enclosure because they want to upsell their photos. I totally understand this and love that they took our photos BUT when we looked at the photos afterwards, a lot of them were out of focus and they wanted $300 USD for all or $45 USD per photo... The photographer really tried to push us to purchase the photos but as a photographer myself, I couldn't justify paying that price for terrible pictures. Nevertheless we tipped the photographer 10 USD as a token of gratitude for his time and he took the money and gave us the cold shoulder for not purchasing the photos. I thought with the dolphins being in the ocean it would be a better, more humane experience than others advertised but I'm saddened to see how small the enclosure was and the main priority of the business being upselling this experience rather than the priority and care of the dolphins. I will not be back and I regret booking this excursion.
hello, thank you for your comment,
About the supreme program and all the experience is under control basis. We can't forget they are animals and we get into their habitat.
The snorkel part could be longer or shorter, it depends on the dolphins, weather and water conditions as we are in open sea (not pool) we can't control the envionment. But for sure we meet the time with exta activities.
The marks that you can see on the skin of the dolphins due to their natural way to socialize; a large part of their interaction is through touch, rubbing and the mouth. These marks may occur during sexual play, because teeth are like their hands.
These scratches are superficial and heal quickly because the skin (epidermis) of the dolphins change every two hours since they need smooth skin to increase their efficiency to glid on the water.
Im sorry you could't get the pictures, you might recieve an email for that.

thank you!
Fantastic experience: Fantastic promo deal was on when we went for 2 people. Lots of interaction with the Dolphins. Done the foot push up by 2 Dolphins. Very friendly staff. Well organised. Well recommended as in the sea environment.
thank you for your comment,
Positive experience: Opted for a free tour scheduled through Dreams Playa Mujeres. Highly suggest you do not waste your time with the tour. After about an hour of shuttling around to read and see posters about sea life, the take you to the edge of sand and point a hundred yards or so away and say there is a dolphin and make it jump. Then point out there are half a dozen dolphins in a more distant pen which are not visible. Then.... it's over and you get to walk back and not take pictures. I wish I had that 90 minutes back. Free was too high a price. Just stand on the beach or wade out into the water near the enclosure and you'll have a better time.
thanks for your comment,
It helps to improve it.
Negative experience: Overpriced, limited interactions with the dolphins. Pricing for photos alone starts at around $250 USD. They don't allow you to bring phones or cameras.
Hello, thank you for your comment!
At least are 14 activities in half an hour for a family with one of oure lovely dolphins.
About pictures It is not a cheap activity. Obviously cameras are not allowed so that you can enjoy the program and connect with nature and dolphins for a moment, plus we are in the open sea and any object can be lost.
Best regards,
Positive experience: Swimming with dolphins is a bucket-list experience, so that part was amazing! And the price of admission isn't bad either. But, they have to get you somewhere! The price of pictures felt like robbery. They tell you you can't take a phone or even a gopro strapped to your chest for "safety", but really they just want to charge exorbitant prices for pictures. I figured the pictures would be a lot, and I was still shocked. The price tiers were $295, $395, $495! And they would hardly negotiate the prices. They won't sell just 3 or 4 pictures, you either get one printed pic for $45, or 12 digital pictures for the lowest package, which we negotiated down to $200. Sadly, the euphoria of swimming with dolphins is wiped away as soon as you see how much it will cost to get pictures of the experience. I would look for a different dolphin experience.
Fantastic experience: This place stands for its name (DREAMS RESORT AND SPA) We have had a blast !!!
Fantastic experience: you can watch from the side (from afar) for free, when there are appointments in session, (where people pay to interact with the dolphins).
Positive experience: Great experience. Definitely worth getting the pricier more expensive option of the two. But bring money for pictures because thats ofcourse where they get you.
Positive experience: Watched the dolphins do their tricks from the shoreline!
Negative experience: Very sad, poor dolphins in dirty fenced off cages
Hello, thank you for your comment! Imagine their home with us is cleaner than the ocean, where dolphins live much less than under human care.
Our dolphins live in conditions of animal welfare, which is a science because it can be measured and improved upon. The World Association of Zoos and Aquariums developed a model of the 5 domains where, in addition to nutrition, veterinary care, healthy environment and behavior management, they also focus on the animal’s mental state. Covering everything needed to offer the best mental state.
Delphinus has specific accreditations for wild animals under human care in zoos and aquariums, such as Humane Conservation by American Humane, the Alliance of Marine Mammals Parks and Aquariums, AMMPA, and the International Marine Animal Trainers' Association, IMATA.
If any further information please let us know.
Negative experience: Saddest view to have to look at when enjoying the beauty of the ocean. Captivity kills.
Hello Laura, thanks for your conern. that's how we start this company. Our dolphins are in perfect condition not because I tell you, but the results of cientific studies that we have mede during a lot of time.
Here I can share with you a video that shows the last research made wit dolphins under human care. . https://youtu.be/NqI-dP8u-Z8
Enjoy it.
Negative experience: Tourist ripoff. The dolphins are lovely but the prices they try to charge are outrageous. We went there with our baby and wanted to buy 1-2 digital photos to show to the grandparents and they tried charging us 200+ USD. It felt like a daylight theft
Thank you for your comment, we have a different prices and packages for pictures, as more you get better price.
You will recieve an offer by email.
Thank you!
Negative experience: Dolphins are amazing and so is the experience- but the prices for everything else is outrageous. Pringles are $7, scuba gears are marked up 50%. Also, the customer service by the front desk staff is really bad. The tickets are really expensive if you don’t book in advance and family has to wait in the sun. No seats available for the family anywhere.
Hello,
We have some shaded benches at the entrance of the hábitat. And I'm sorry for whatever happened at the front desk with costumer service, I understand maybe something with the prices.
Thank your for your comment!
Negative experience: The dolphins are great. The people not so much. We got the top package and they still tried to upsell us. They won't let you take your phone and then try to sell you pictures for FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS. We talked to them before we booked the package about my mother's knee problems. They reassured us she could do another activity at that time instead of the foot push which her knees can't handle. When we got there they argued about it. They did work with her eventually but it set a bad mood on the whole thing. So it was not a good time. They insisted we not wear our glasses for safety but I was uncomfortable because I couldn't see. There was a place to set stuff so I could have at least seen on my way to the area. I don't like being blind. The sun was directly in my eyes the whole time which wouldn't have been a problem with my prescription sunglasses. The staff was unpleasant and hurried us when there was no reason. The staff had bad communication between themselves. Not disability friendly even if that disability is just weak eyes. I understand for the actual dolphin push not wearing glasses but I didn't need to be blind the whole time. Edit: It was the women in the office that were rude. The trainers and people outside were nice.
Good day!
I'm sorry for your comment, for safety reasons we don't allow glasses, hats, jewelry etc as we are in an open ocean.
About changeing the activity is never a problem because we do it all the time.
thank you and we will fix the attitud!
Positive experience: A lot of fun! Went as two adults and two kids, did just the playing and swimming with dolphins. The kids were too young for the fin ride or the foot push. You are not allowed to bring in your phone or camera, as they assign a photographer to your group. This was the only negative about the experience, because to get photos you have to buy a photo package starting at 12 photos for $167 and up to $225 for more photos and app functions. If you want a single photo printed with frame it's $45. My only feedback would be allow to purchase up to 3-5 photos, or give 1-2 free as part of the excursion since it's not cheap to do this. The staff were all super friendly and fun! The dolphin trainers were informative and made sure the kids had a blast. Thank you!
thank you very much for your comment! We are so happy you all had a great time with us!
Positive experience: The swimming was great but they will charge 400 US dollars for pictures. They do this under the excuse of you needing to pay attention. The pictures will be given on the old type of flash drive. Be careful you have somewhere to open and view the files. I am positive the person taking pictures and videos is not making 400 us dollars.
thank you for your comment!, we hope you had a great time!
Regards!
Negative experience: The pool where the Dolphins are kept is FAR too small. You should be ashamed of yourselves!
Hello Lee,
We respect your opion but let me share some information with you...
In August 2021 the largest international study about the welfare of cetaceans under human care was published, Delphinus participated with the data collection of 23% of the total sample of dolphins (although we had no say in the data analysis or the results). This study found two main things about the welfare of dolphins relating to the space available for them.
a. More than the space available, management of the dolphin populations, training, and enrichment (mental stimulation) had a significant relationship with the welfare of our dolphins. Once they have the space they need, which is in accordance with local and international regulations, giving more space to the dolphins does not improve their welfare and instead we should focus on how we stimulate them physically and mentally.
b. Dolphins under human care in accredited zoological institutions, such as Delphinus, traveled more than what is expected for coastal wild populations.
The study can be consulted here: https://collections.plos.org/collection/cetacean-welfare/
Regards,
Negative experience: The dolphins are fantastic. This company’s business practices are horrific and wildly overpriced. The refused to allow me to wear my go pro, and then I realized why when they tried to sell our party a $400 photo package. Strongly recommend you avoid this excursion.
Hello again Mr Jenkins,
Go pros are not allowed, nor jewelry or any other object that can have contact with our dolphins. We need your attention 100% to follow instructions to ensure good behaivor during the interaction with them, as they are very curious and easily distracted.
thank you!
Fantastic experience: The best day of our trip!!
what a great message!
thank you! =)
Fantastic experience: This place was great! The workers walk you through of exactly whatll happen multiple times. You get to pet the dolphins, swim next to them, a fin ride, kisses, and some hand motions for singing, dancing etc. They take pictures and you can purchase them after. We loved them! Theyre adorable. Youre given a life jacket and they have a standing platform that you mostly stay on for the entire thing.
thank you for your comment!
Positive experience: Prices of the photos are ridiculous. More expensive than the visit itself.
thank you for your comment. We hope you had a great time with us!
It is one of the most unique activities in the world. We for sure give them the best care, food from Canada, vets, specialists, a lot of reserach, and also we share this experince with local comunities every year to make awareness of the welfare and good care of the environment.
thanks again!
Fantastic experience: Swimming with the Dolphins was an AMAZING experience. The Delphinus crew were so friendly and encouraging. Everyone should book the excursion on their trip.
Thanks a lot for your comment! we are so happy you had a wonderful time with our dolphins.
Greetings!
Positive experience: This place is really nice and the dolphins are so lovely and friendly. The staff were also so nice and attentive. The only negative was that they do not let you bring a camera or phone to the water part and then they charge an insane amount for photos. For example for 1 photos was 40$US. There are other places that let you take a camera with you.
Hello Caitlyn,
Thank you very much for your comment!
Negative experience: UPDATE: I walked by this area and have now seen it in person. It broke my heart. Nobody was there and the dolphins were at the divide hovering in the corner as if trying to communicate with the one on the other side. It is such a small area and so very sad to see them trapped like this compared to the vast amount of miles they would swim in the wild....all for human entertainment. Now that I have seen this in person, it reinforced my original statement below. Even my husband who isnt one to say anything asked to leave the area because it was so upsetting to see them in this small area. As humans, we should be ashamed to fund that for a simple picture. After watching "the cove" documentary, I vowed never to go to one of these swim with dolphins parks though for years it was my dream to. I learned about the cruel process in which they are capture, separated from their families just to be exploited for our entertainment and I cant in good conscious fund that now. I encourage you to watch this documentary before buying any tickets for something like this. Such intelligent creatures should nevr be put through this. I will put aside something Ive longed to do for the welfare of dolphins since I know what I know now. This is too small of an area for them to live in compared to how far they would swim in the wild and the packs they would be in. If you feel you want to learn even more after this, watch "blackfish" on the Orcas too! Its up to us to make a difference for animals and do whats right...not whats selfish.
Dear traveler. Regarding the review, we would like to make some comments that we consider pertinent to you and other readers to know. We respect opinions, who disagree with the keeping of marine mammals in human care. Like you, several people talk about documentaries such as Blackfish or The Cove, to support their decision. However, we must say that both documentaries are not a balanced journalistic work, but materials edited to manipulate the emotions of the audience by hiding facts and highlighting others to support the narrative and ideology of their authors. Both documentaries deal with a reality different from the Mexican environment. In our country, since 2002, the capture of marine mammals is no longer allowed, so the only way for zoological institutions to sustain themselves with these animals over time is through breeding programs. This is very important, because getting a wild animal, such as dolphins, to reproduce under human care is a great achievement, since animals like these do not reproduce if they do not have nutrition, space, social groups, etc. in their favor. , this is part of animal welfare, and shows that animals receive all the care from experts.
Delphinus is a socially responsible company and as such, we participated in the most important scientific research ever carried out to date: "Towards an understanding of the animal welfare of cetaceans in accredited zoos and aquariums", carried out by North American academic institutions and which studied a large part of of our dolphins. There, among other things, it was understood that "more important than the available space are the activities with which marine mammals are mentally stimulated, activities that are called "environmental enrichment or what, contrary to what the documentaries or activists against our say, it was found that dolphins under human care swim more (distance) than wild animals. You can read the full study here: https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0255506 or you can watch a video that further explains the study: https://youtu .be/NqI-dP8u-Z8
Other recent studies show that dolphins "relax" after contact with people, as their levels of hormones that measure "stress" were measured before and after interactions with people. https://www.jzar.org/jzar/article/view/491 We emphasize then that our organization bases its work on science and that many times documentalists or activists do not consider science to prove fact, it does not move emotions.
Also, we recommend to see the documentary: "Escape from the Extintion" from the American Humane, organization that is committed to ensuring the safety, welfare, and well-being of animals.
We hope that this explanation of a more balanced view of our work and our institution. We hope to see you here soon and see for yourself what we have explained. A cordial greeting.
Fantastic experience: So I haven’t gone on my vacation yet, but I wanted to give Edgar HUGE KUDOS for his assistance via chat and follow up via email. I was confused about the transportation option and booked with our dolphin adventure. Just after booking I had to run to an appointment leaving Edgar handing on chat. He realized I was gone and emailed me additional clarification regarding transportation which resulted in me essentially canceling the transportation portion of the excursion. He quickly credited the money back to me and provided an updated confirmation. He was on it from the start of our chat through completion of the reservation. He was extremely helpful, followed up and closed the loop. I call this excellent service! I hope to be able to say the same when it comes to our dolphin adventure. I have no doubt if everyone is as well trained as he is that we will have a spectacular time. THANK YOU EDGAR!
Thank you very much! It's a pleasure!
Fantastic experience: Great excursions "Advise the best price buy it from the airline or company you traveled with I used sunwing they had a promotion 2 for price of one for the Ride with dolphins $ Shop around on the resort Riu dunamar there where a lot of people trying to sell for the same place and dolphins I found 4 or 5 sellers all different prices and very sketchy just be cautious ⚠️
Thank you for your review!
Positive experience: It's a beautiful resort with very little to do outside of paying a lot of money. They had 1 club, no music though, boring
Hi Geraldine, we appreciate your comment but we are Delphinus Playa Mujeres not the Resort.
Fantastic experience: Love the whole experience except the guy at the water said pictures were 50 and up they were 180+ ..besides that was the best experience
thank you!
Fantastic experience: More fun than I had anticipated. The dolphins are so awesome to be close to and touch. You can't go wrong with either package, riding with holding onto 1, or riding by standing on 2. It was well worth the cost.
thank yor for your comment! yes, our programs with dolphins are awesome!
Negative experience: It was my first time swimming with the dolphins and it wasn’t what I expected at all. The ocean water is extremely dirty they dont maintain it in the area they contain the dolphins and there is huge amounts of seaweed. When we did the snorkelling I couldn’t even see the dolphin was a waste of my time and money. Besides from that the place doesn't allow you to take your phones in because when you come back they rip you off by making you pay $311 USD for the photos the staff take of you. That is a complete rip off for photos. Honestly I would not recommend this place whatsoever. So disappointed in how they take advantage of peoples money and time.
Hi Nadeen, first of all, thank you for the review and thank you for swimming with our dolphins. I'm sorry to read about your experience but our habitat in Playa Mujeres is the habitat in the ocean and we depend how is the weather forecast. Everyday we clean the habitat but sometimes -and when its after raining- Its hard to let the ocean free of seaweed, It is beyond our possibilities. About letting you to use your camera. For safety of our dolphins and yourself we do not allow people to go inside the water with their cameras, this is because our dolphins are very curious and they can be distracted when you are using your camera, also if your camera falls to the water, our dolphins can swallowed it. Also, all of our activities are schedule, and if you are trying to take a picture or a selfie, the activity will not be able to finish with the according time it was schedule.
Fantastic experience: The trainers are experts and are willing to share their professional knowledge of the dolphins with you. I love how they aren't just concerned about entertainment but also conservation and that makes all the difference. You can see the very real bond and respect that they have for the dolphins. This was hands down the best excursion we had, and truly a life changing experience.
Thank you for your review =)
Positive experience: We had a great time. The reason not 5 stars was because of the price of the photos of the experience. $375 USD for a usb or $75 USD for one photo. No cameras allowed. This experience was already pricey so there didn't seem a need for the photos to be so high. The dolphins were great, very friendly and gentle. We paid extra for the couples package that had us two alone with the dolphins and a trainer, highly recommend the extra amount for this package. It is a real close up and personal 45 minutes with them, well worth the price for the experience. The could definitely leave if they wanted to, that was obvious as the dock around was no more than 4 feet wide and 5 feet out of the water. The tricks the dolphins did would clear those perimeters EASY. They are very well cared for clearly.
thank you for your comment!
Negative experience: This review is not for Dolphins as they are amazing creatures. This whole program is a scam. - The pricing is not firm so everyone on the tour they got different pricing. - The water dolphins are kept in is verrrry dirty and full of plastics and garbage. We were not even comfortable to swim there. - They do not what they promised so your time with the dolphin is not more than 2-3 minutes. The ride is less than 10 seconds. - They don't let you to take any picture and then ask more than $250 USD for the photos. We asked for 1 photo and we had to pay $40 USD. Unbelievable!
Hello, thank you for your review,
The price is different as we have many different progamas.
This habitat is very natural in open water. Unfortunatelly the ocean has a lot of plastic on it, and sometimes it comes around us, even when we clean it all day.
The progragm you made is 30 minutes in the water with the dolphins with 14 activities.
We take the pictures for you, so you can enjoy the program.
Regards!
Fantastic experience: So much fun with all the activities. Activities in the air, water and on land.
Fantastic experience: Our experience was fabulous. They really made it personal for our couples encounter. And when our group did combine briefly with another we got a little extra alone time at the end with the dolphins to make up for it. Dolphins seem well taken care of and the instructors are very knowledgeable and friendly.
Negative experience: The half an hour in the water was great, but they wanted $540 (U.S. dollars) for our family's photos with the dolphins. I looked at the guy and said "It wasn't a wedding". Overall Dreams resorts is a huge price-gouging rip-off. Of course no personal devices (cell phone, GoPro) were allowed.
Positive experience: Swam with the dolphins, was sad to see them scratched up and looking worse for the wear. They need larger swim pens and more rest
Hello Kathy, referring to the scratch marks on the dolphin’s skin, you speculated that these come from the nets that delineate the limits of their space; for us this is the most important point to explain to avoid erroneous conclusions about our dolphin’s wellbeing. These marks are known as “raking” marks and their are a feature in dolphins in wild populations as well as under human care as they are part of socializing and establishing hierarchies within their social groups. We gladly share the following scientific literature on which you can further learn about this behavior: Samuels, A. and Gifford, T. (1997), A quantitative assessment of dominance relations among bottlenose dolphins. Marine Mammal Science, 13: 70-99. Scott, Erin & Mann, Janet & Watson-Capps, Jana & Sargeant, Brooke & Connor, Richard. (2005). Aggression in bottlenose dolphins: Evidence for sexual coercion, male-male competition, and female tolerance through analysis of tooth-rake marks and behaviour. Titcomb, EM, Stevens, J, Sleeman, A, et al. Linear skin markings in common bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) from the Indian River Lagoon, Florida. Mar Mam Sci. 2020; 36: 858– 870.
Fantastic experience: My kids loved it, we spend one hour with the dolphins, It was great!
Negative experience: Great staff buy be prepared to ripped of at the end.cant take photos only suppliers photos available at rip off prices
Hello Chris, The topic of the value of the photography packages that we sell depends on each user’s perceptions, but we consider that is corresponding to the prices that you can find in the Mexican Caribbean, unlike in Los Cabos or Hawaii, where costs are higher both for the experience and for the photography packages. And a big part of the resources obtained from the sale of photographic packages allow us to carry out our social responsibility programs such as the Environmental Education Plan, with which we serve 1900 children from public schools in Quintana Roo free of charge, we promote beach clean up on the coasts of Quintana Roo and we develop Scientific Research that improves the well-being of the dolphins under our care, knowledge that we share with other similar organizations.
Negative experience: These animals are not cared for properly. Their enclosures are EXTREMELY small and they are forced to work for food. Please do not support this organization. (Or any dolphin tourism...)
Hello Francesa, I'm sorry that your information is not correct. I understand about 'small places', this is a perception for each person, remember that not all good things to humans are the same good things for animals. The dolphins in our care live in conditions of animal welfare, which is a science because it can be measured and improved. Also, no, we do not force to work for food, our dolphins have plenty of food to enjoy, we keep a very healthy and good diet provided by our veterinarians.
Fantastic experience: This excursion was not only worth the price, but also perfect for animal lovers. Intimate moments with trained dolphins and as an instructor assists you and your group. Phone is required to be in a locker, so expect to pay for pictures/videos. One picture is $40
Fantastic experience: The trainer and staff are super nice! This was an amazing experience! The dolphins were the nicest staff of all, super loving and playful!!
Positive experience: Professional and efficient... the Dolphins actually seemed excited for the show. Photos are pricey....
Fantastic experience: It was a great experience! We bought supreme package what was little bit more expensive for 4 people then group packages. But we spent an amazing 1 hour with 4 ! We got a hug, kisses, dancing, pushing, swimming with all of them! Just be ready that this is not cheap, and you can't bring your phone, cameras, nothing. You have to buy photos packages what is $290-404. It's a wonderful time with dolphins ❤️ Thank you!
Fantastic experience: I like that place. Was here a month ago. Friendly stuff. I had a great experience with my wife and 2 years old son. Be ready that it’s not cheap amusement. With small baby it was enough group pass but if you want to spend all the time with dolphin and don’t want to split your time with 8 more persons, you need to take personal or couple pass. Otherwise I’m session of 40 minutes you’ll get just 4 min of contact. Also if you want to get photos for you memories it will cost $40 per photo or $200 for 10 pics
Negative experience: No words needed. No Support for this!
Negative experience: Besides the tickets fee, $40 for a photo…
Positive experience: Trainers was really good everything was going ok till I find out for all pics and videos you got to pay 270 $ that’s rip off totally scam get ready to spend minimum 500$ for 2 people
Negative experience: This was a disturbing excursion to say the least. There was an awful stench coming from the vicinity of where the dolphins were located; it was worse to see that they were enclosed almost in a cage like environment. I believe there is a more humane way for us to be able to enjoy the dolphins company even while they are in captivity. But clearly, this place was not taking good care of the dolphins, which completely ruined the experience for us.
Hello Warisa, our habitat is a natural habitat at the ocean. The stench is because the sargassum where everyday we are taking off, but this is a natural condition. I understand your concern about the dolphins, they are our priority, we take care of them the best way possible, so the dolphins are in the top conditions and of course in good health.
Negative experience: Dolphins are beautiful, trainers are very nice but they don’t tell you in advance the price of the pictures. We are the small family of 3 people. On top of paying $390 for swimming with dolphins which is completely understandable they offer you pictures for $441 all and $270 for 12 pictures you can pick from. Or just one picture for $40. I think it’s insane to pay over$800 for one hour of fun no matter how much money you have. I asked multiple times before we did it how much pictures cost and they told me not to worry about it. Very very frustrating...
Thank you for your review Alexandra. All comments are welcome so we can improve our services. This comment will help us to talk and learn how we need to explain our services before and after your swim with dolphins activity.
Negative experience: Purchased my ticket at my resort. They don’t communicate with resort. So no transportation was provided. So I walked 20minutes on the beach which is very tiring. Especially when you bring your beach bag thinking it’s a quick walk. When you later find out it’s 3 resorts down. By the time I got there I missed my schedule time to see the dolphin. So they said it would be a hour. Then I had to pay for a taxi back which cost me money. Wouldn’t recommend booking, because if you late they want let you do it. Also I was told when I booked all this should have explained to me. So now I have to request a refund which I’m not sure if they will give it. Update: Also when I requested the refund they said they could do nothing about it and to reach out to the person that booked me at my resort, mind this person does not actually work for the resort just a representative that books for the resorts customers.
Hello Danielle, I understand your concern, we will talk to the resort where you purchase your tickets and show this review to them. They should explained to you. If you check our website (https://www.delphinusworld.com), it says everything about our transportation. You should talk to the resort and solve your complain with them so they can give your refund.
Negative experience: Whilst an enjoyable opportunity and interesting experience the dolphins didn’t appear to be treated very well. After an interesting visit with my family we were able to understand a lot. The water was very dirty, and the dolphin enclosure for their housing was very small. One dolphin had blood on his nose! It was absolutely heartbreaking to see such a wild and free species be living under such poor conditions. There where scars and scrapes on a different dolphin, who also had a broken fin from all the hands touching them. The dolphins noses are scraped bare from all the handling. It is clear that these animals don’t receive much of a break and are over worked. We were not permitted to do another etching with the dolphins for more money at the end for unknown reasons. At the end of the experience we were offered extremely over priced photos and videos. It is with a heavy heart that I say this place is mostly about the money and not the animals in their care.
Dear Abigail,
We appreciate your visit and your review so that other visitors have an idea about the facilities and services that they will find with us. It is a pity that in the end we failed to make a good impression and for this we sincerely apologize. We are especially saddened to know that you did not get a good impression of the conditions of the animals that we have under our care and for this reason we want to explain some things to you, hoping that you can see things from our perspective, which is based on animal welfare. This is the technical and scientific basis on which all our activity is based.
To ensure Animal Welfare, we have a team of experts in veterinary medicine and animal behavior, as well as the best clinical diagnostic laboratory for marine mammals in Latin America. With them and with the technology at our disposal, we can measure the indicators that show us the physical and mental health status of each of the animals that are under our care.
It is likely that to the non-expert eye, certain physical signs such as raking marks (superficial scratches on dolphin skin) may SEEM to be indicators of concern. However, for experts in marine mammal behavior, these raking marks are normal signs of social interaction between the various specimens, such as playing, mating or establishing hierarchies. These tags can be seen both in wild dolphin populations and under human care. Even in the wild, these marks help to the researchers to recognize specimens of a specific population. We leave the link of an independent scientific article that explains this topic: https://www.morigenos.org/en/how-do-dolphins-acquire-marks/
A similar situation occurs with the marks or wear on the tip of the dolphin face (which would be the "bottle nose" in this species), especially on the lower jaws of dolphins; since, for these marine mammals, it serves as a kind of shovel with which they scratch the bottom in search of organisms that make them curious or are their food. This is a natural behavior for dolphins, and in fact, the ability of animals under human care to display their natural behaviors is one of the essential elements of animal welfare. To learn more about the subject, we suggest you and the readers this reference document on Animal Welfare. https://www.waza.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/WAZA-Animal-Welfare-Strategy-2015_Landscape.pdf
In summary, the fact that dolphins have raking marks in their skin or wear marks on the tips of their faces does not imply a low quality of life, but on the contrary, they are part of the display of natural behaviors in dolphins, both in life wild, as under human care.
We reiterate our appreciation for your review and we hope to have a new opportunity to serve you and leave a better impression on you.
Fantastic experience: My grandbabies and I got to interact with the dolphins and they even got to swim on ones back! So much fun and many memories made!
Negative experience: Places like this should be closed permanently. Atrocious.
Fantastic experience: This business is located right off the beach near Playa Dreams Resort. It is actually directly in front of the kid-friendly resort. There is a pier area where the dolphins are housed/live. The trainers bring in groups to do tricks with dolphins, swim with them, pet them, feed them, and most importantly have the dolphins push them in the water. There are lots of photo opportunities from the beach or there is a photographer onsite ready to snap pictures of these fun moments.
Negative experience: Short service for the amount of money we paid and a total scam when it comes to buy a photo or video. One plain photo costs 40 USD. I dont recommend this place if you think about your money.
Fantastic experience: Very nice experience to touch a tranquil dolphin in the sea water. Our was a 35 years old male over 10 feet long loving us and the fish after each exercise. The area and premises are very good ( simply perfect and new). Beach available for relax. Park after main entrance and thy Wil get you on a golf cart.
Negative experience: What a horrible way to treat the dolphins. Captivity for human amusement. You people who post here after you go are shameful. What’s wrong with you. Stop supporting dolphins in captivity! Let the dolphins go free!
Fantastic experience: Very cool experience for dolphin and water lovers .
Buen dia
Kayla Klabo thanks a lot for your commets and rating we hope you share your experencie whit all you family and friends and also you come back whit all ofthen
feliz dia.
Negative experience: The dolphins are great but these people will not let you take your cameras at all . They have their people take pictures and try to charge you 450 us dollars for a USB of your pictures and video. If you want one picture it's 45 dollars. Call me cheap or not dumb enough to pay such a ridiculous amount for a life time event. I'm sure you can find another place with the same activities and a better deal for your family photos. Joshua Romero thanks for the comments and we sorry for the experience with the photo and video department, but we have good packets in photo and video we hope when you come back allow us showed our diferents packets.
feliz dia.
Fantastic experience: We had a great time. The service was wonderful. The staff was amazing. There were lots of activities to keep the whole family busy. The water park was more of a group of 2 slides and some water play ground equipment. The Preferred club was worth the extra money. The rooms were set up very conveniently, and the beds were amazing. The nightly entertainment was fun and diverse. Every 3 days or so, the vendors come to the resort, which is convenient. The resort places them in the main thoroughfare, so you can't avoid them, and they are aggressive. I was not a fan of that. Still, 5 stars for the entire experience.
Hi Maribeth Thank you for your rating. =)
Positive experience: Great experience but photos for $240 is a bit steap. We were eventually offered the photos for $75 but declined.
Hi dear Thomas, we apologize about that bad experience with the photo staff. Besides the cost of our photos are cheaper than in other sites like Miami or Hawaii.
Negative experience: The fact that people still support animals in captivity shows the Blanton disregard for life and freedom for wild animals. These dolphins don’t want pictures with you they don’t want to swim with you and they don’t want to be touched by you. If you want to see a dolphin up close read a book or watch discovery Chanel. DISGUSTING AND SHAMEFUL
Fantastic experience: I kissed the dolphin, amazing experience with my husband with amazing dreams playa mujeres team. Hector our guide.
Hi Kate thanks for the comments we hope to see you the next time. saludos
Positive experience: Beautiful sky and scenery! Excellent sport activities on the beach. Comfortable beds and couches under tents to lounge on. [Not impressed with the trapped dolphins in a small square nearby ]
Buen dia
Monique Martin, Thanks for the coments and you rating
have a great day.
Negative experience: The experience was OK. There were two different type of packages. The first package was just a regular dolphin experience and the second package was the ultimate dolphin experience. I opted for the regular dolphin experience because I didn’t need to Dolphins are to spend much time with them. I was a little disappointed that most of the dolphin experience consisted of taking photos and not actual time swimming with the dolphins. The photos were incredibly overpriced and I was very upset at that experience. The photographer was too busy checking on other people and making sure that they don’t take pictures of the photos that he wasn’t very attentive to me. However once I saw that one photo cost $40 I was THROUGH and decided to go to the changing room. All in all I spent about 7 minutes of the 30 minute experience actually swimming with the dolphin.
Hi there, we think you are confused, we don´t have that swim program ultimate dolphin experience in Delphinus Playa Mujeres, the quality of our services are better than a simple photo session. Your review must be for one of our competitors.
Negative experience: No one has a right to keep such a sensitive and clever creature in captivity where they life span is much shorter and quality of life can not be compared to the open waters. It's like holding a human in a cell and make him perform for a food. Shame on this bloody business!
Positive experience: Was there last week and had a great time. The staff were perfect and the dolphins, well, what can I say? They are just magnificent. I was able to negotiate a good deal for the couples swim and we really enjoyed ourselves. The foot push and the dorsal ride are awesome! The only real detractor from the experience was the photo sales at the end of the event. I would have rather had prepaid the pictures and gone from there. The sales experience sort of spoils the mood even though I was ready for it. They weren't pushy but having to go through it was a pain. We did buy the pictures in the end and are very happy to have done so. The staff were excellent and would highly recommend that you do this if you have never done so. Have a good one!
dear Mark Walker thanks for the comments and we are working in order to impruve all ours service
I was there in August 2011. I had dreamed of it forever. I had an unforgettable experience. These animals are extraordinary. Swimming with them is new. A beautiful experience, which changes you, transforms you. Dolphins, the new friends of man. Creatures that can bring us a lot. I highly recommend the visit.
