Experiencia fantástica: I purchased 150 comets for my aquaponics system from Melbourne Tropical Fish and Aquarium Plants. The ordering system was simple to use, the delivery to the store was efficient and I was notified of the delivery in a timely manner. When I arrived to collect my order, I was met by two brothers with big smiles who were very friendly and showed a genuine interest in me and were very helpful. The prices are very competitive and the service was great! Fair to say I will certainly be ordering through these gentlemen again.

Experiencia positiva: Generally a good aquarium shop with well priced stock,the owner is always willing to give you a deal but maintance and tanks cleanliness in the shop need to be improved.I woukd advise to call before you drive to the shop or check their fb page to see if they have new stock coming in or ask when new stock will arrive. They sell their stock very quickly due to their good prices and if you just go randomly you may see empty tanks and very limited fish.

Experiencia fantástica: I had an excellent experience. Got a bit group of 10 discus and the owner that served me was a great fellow. He took plenty of time to pick the fish that I wanted even when the shop was busy. Never rushed me and explained caring for the fish. The fish are very healthy and doing well in my tank now. Most importantly the prices were unreal, I have not seen better prices for discus anywhere else. I drove 1 hour to come by here and it was worth it. Would definitely come back and recommend to my friends :)

Dank, dirty tanks, dead stock, algae through so many of them. I walked the whole store and could seriously not see myself buying from there.

Experiencia fantástica: I had a great experience with buying a group of 12 small discus and shipping them to Sydney. 1.) Great value at 4 for $100 assorted discus. They sent photos of their stock, and I was able to choose my mix of colours rather than go with potluck - which exceeded my expectations. 2.) David spoke with me personally, asked some important questions about my set up and provided details of the water parameters and diet the fish were used to. 3.) For shipping airport pick up in Sydney, the communication around the process was clear. The fish were professionally packed - ample space, double bagged with oxygen, and with heatpacks, in a well-marked poly box. 4.) David then got in touch personally the following day to check how the fish were doing. All round, the price was fantastic, the fish are good quality, and David did everything you'd expect of someone that cares both for the customer and the fish.

I visited in June 2025 to purchase some fish and fish food, and was genuinely impressed by the experience. The owner(i think he is the owner) was incredibly helpful, patient, and informative he took the time to thoroughly explain how to properly feed the fish, maintain the correct pH balance, and shared valuable tips for keeping a healthy aquarium. His genuine passion and knowledge made my visit enjoyable and educational. Highly recommended for both beginners and experienced hobbyists!

Experiencia negativa: Absolute was of a drive. Hardly any fish stock, electric yellows seem to have sunken belly. No room to move even with two people. Place smells bad. Prices are also high for nothing but greed.

The display tanks where gorgeous with many plants and diversity but unsurprisingly the beta fish are being abused in small tanks with no plants or anything, one I saw was dead at the back which made me very sad. They were sitting at the front with minimal movement obviously very bored and depressed. A lot of the tanks were dirty and the goldfish tanks were about 200L and there was probably 80 goldfish cramped into it. Most if not all the tanks had no gravel or plants or anything. Fish need to be happy and healthy, if you’re going to sell fish you need to not treat them like they’re not living creatures that deserve a good life

Experiencia negativa: Horrible shop. Tiny, over crowded can't really even see what is in the tanks as you can barely walk in between the two isles they're so close together. Too many large comets in the one tank, they're literally swimming on top of each other. One of the tanks was being cleaned (I think) and almost ALL of the water had been removed. There was only just enough water to not even cover the fish. They were flapping around in destress. Maybe what you see online is very different to the shop, but after seeing it in person, there is no way I would shop there.

Experiencia fantástica: Used the online store to purchase a betta for my wife’s birthday. Was delivered 2 days later and appears very healthy. She loves its vibrant blue and purple colouring. Also impressed by their huge range of aquarium plants, much larger than what our local aquarium offers. Will definitely be buying from them again! Their personal touch - following up after the delivery to make sure the fish arrived healthy and safe was also great.

Experiencia negativa: I was disappointed with this shop when I visited as the tanks were dirty and didn't have many fish (and had dead ones). I unfortunately bought some fish from them even though they looked sick, and discovered when we got home that they had ick and they died soon after. I'd say it's slightly expensive, but if the fish and tanks were looked after and monitored properly I'm sure it could be a decent place. The family is passionate about fish keeping but this doesn't seem to show through the quality of the displays and livestock.

Experiencia fantástica: I have never been a customer with Melbourne Tropical fish. I reached out to Ravi and the team asking for advice via email Re: A algae bloom that has taken hold of my tank. The tank is 540 litres including a sump with two largish tiger oscars. I included happy snaps of my (water dogs) They don't seem bothered with their green water, their owner is not happy. Ravi noted my tests of my water paramaters were all good. I have a 36watt UV sterilizer plumbed off the return pump which kills algae when operational. It appears may be not powerful enough to completly remove it. Ravi offered detailed solutions to address the issues I was having and offered advice anytime on issues I was experiencing in the future. For a company I have never delt with, their willingness to share their expertise and the fact I received a detailed reply the next day day speaks volumes. Seriously... Excellent customer service.

Experiencia fantástica: visited this aquarium recently just to have a look while we were passing the place. Even though we went there just to have a look we came home with lots of lovely fish. I was amazed to see the variety of the fish they have and how reasonably priced they are. In the past I visited so many aquariums as I have few fish tanks and couple of ponds. In the future this will be the only aquarium I’m visiting because of the amazing service, quality of the fish, variety of the fish and the prices of the fish. They have all the other fish stuff including food.
