The aquarium co-op section is perfect, full of important stuff and the staff are a pleasure to be around :) I live in Langley and it’s about an hour drive but it’s so worth it. Experiencia fantástica: This is the best fish store you can go to in the Lower Mainland. The owner Darren was super kind and provided the kind of service you wouldn't get in a big chain pet store. He also showed us their quarantine area where they isolate new arrivals before they go on sale to make sure they are disease free. Superb and huge selection of healthy fishes, many I had never seen before. They are also the authorized retailer for Aquarium Coop, the best independent fish store in the USA. Lots of great products from their catalog. Aiden (hope I spelled that right) was very helpful and kind with our fish purchases. Very knowledgable staff here. Worth the drive, even with the new location not being quite as central as the old one. But sooooooo much more space. The quality of product you get here and the helpful and knowledgable staff make it more than worthwhile to come here. VERY highly recommended.

Experiencia fantástica: I placed an order 2 months ago of live fish, plants, fertilizers, fish food, wood, botanicals, and sponge filters. Prior to ordering, I asked a variety of questions and got really helpful and informative responses. I really appreciate their customer service, expertise, and patience with me. All of the fish and items arrived safely, and 2 months later and all the fish are thriving, no losses, very healthy and high quality fish. In my order I also got Co-Op Easy Potassium, and since using it my annubias are flowering and my other plants are generating baby plants like crazy. I really appreciate all the materials and supplies I've received. The live plants have transitioned well too, no melting, just thriving. I am beyond thrilled with everything and am so so grateful. Experiencia negativa: Attempted an online order, delivery date was continously pushed back due to a variety of reasons then agreed upon shipping dates were also left unfulfilled. Ended up just cancelling the order due having no confidence it would actually be shipped. Unorganized possibly, but more clarity on shipping dates would make this store reliable. Sad because I hear great things but didn't experience that.

Experiencia fantástica: Bought from the online store, received my floating plants in 3 days. However they were in a bit of a rough shape. Sent them an email and they replied in like less than an hour! Costumer service is great!! Like they explained to me, floating plants tend to be very hard to ship so no fault of their own. And they gave me tips to help the plants come back healthy which is really great. They still did take responsibility for the situation and refunded me the order. Thanks a lot again, I still had a very good experience buying from them. I 100% recommend this store! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Experiencia fantástica: I have to say, the quality of this aquarium shop is truly impressive. The fish and snails I purchased from them a while ago have remained healthy and are incredibly active. Their zebra nerite snails cleaned the walls of my tank so thoroughly that it looked brand new. Their customer service is always responsive and easy to reach, and I must admit their professionalism as a seller is commendable. I’ll definitely return if I need anything else in the future.

Experiencia positiva: I purchased some Red Devil Angelfish to be shipped to me. They arrived very well packaged, healthy and in great condition. The oto’s and shrimp too. Thank you for that! I only wish the Red Devil Angelfish were actually red. The one has almost no colour and might as well be a regular “assorted” angelfish. I know the fish (medium sized) is still somewhat juvenile and will brighten up a bit, but still, it will not look near red or even orange/yellow. I guess that’s the risk you take when you order online and can’t see the exact fish you buy. Looking forward to actually making it to the store one of these days.

April's has an extensive and professionally-developed quarantine and care plan for all new fish before they go home with customers, which means that you can have the highest confidence that fish you purchase from April's are happy and healthy. Experiencia fantástica: In the past 2 months, I’ve discovered the fish/aquascaping hobby and luckily did my research to find Aprils. The owner, Darrin, is fantastic and has hired incredibly helpful and knowledgeable staff. Standouts have been Hannah and Jacob for their knowledge of Aquascaping, fish health, specie needs etc. This is a one stop shop with great prices, great variety of products, many species of healthy fish, clean tanks, excellent aquariums etc. Their service is so great that it truly reflects how much they care about their customers. Go check them out and you will become a regular, just like myself - it’s worth the drive!

Experiencia fantástica: By far the best fish store in the area, and one of the best I’ve been in North America. Always has a great stock of livestock, plants, hardscape, and supplies with a friendly and knowledgeable staff to back it. They frequently stock rare, unusual, and unique species you can’t easily get anywhere else and the quality of the livestock is incredible. I have rarely had issue with animals I’ve bought here, and I’ve bought hundreds of fish and inverts stocking all 12 of my tanks from April’s, and never have I had an instance of disease entering my tanks thanks to their thorough quarantining protocol for all new livestock they get. I’ve included photos of some of the livestock I’ve gotten from here in their current condition in my tanks.

Incredible selection, friendly and informative staff, and tons of healthy plants to browse!! THE aquascaping store. I originally thought it wasn’t possible to find such selection and specification in-person, and was reluctantly prepared to order most of my materials online. After one visit, we are regulars now and can’t wait to come back for some shrimp!

Experiencia fantástica: Wow, made a trip to Vancouver from Vancouver Island and had to pop into April's Aquarium. I order livestock, plants and aquarium supplies every time they come to the Island (free delivery) and am always impressed. The store is top notch, you can tell that all of their aquariums are well taken care of, quite the variety of fish and plants. Well stocked and organized aquarium supplies. You gotta visit their website and store.

Experiencia fantástica: Wow. I am an avid aquarist and have heard of this place but always went to other local vendors. I thought all fish stores were kind of depressing, damp and dirty until I went to April’s. Bright, clean, and loaded with gorgeously aquascaped tanks with all the details of what is in them. Friendly, passionate staff are available to answer any questions. I was shown the back where their organized quarantine system ensures new fish are tested, fed nutritious foods, and a staff biologist monitors parameters. The fish, of which there are a staggering variety, are vibrant and healthy. They have a loyalty program too, where you can collect points for credit. They are an Aquarium Co-op partner too so no more hassle of ordering online and paying shipping fees for my fertilizer! This is now going to be my place. There is no need to go anywhere else for me going forward. April’s is it.

Experiencia fantástica: I've never had a bad experience at April's. The staff are proactive and knowledgeable, and the business is actively innovative. The owner is a gem and cares about helping fellow fish keepers succeed. Their partnership with Aquarium Co-op has given customers access to many top quality and useful products. My only tip is that the store is quite humid and warm (understandable given the sheer amount of tanks), so don't wear super warm clothing if you plan to browse for a while.

Experiencia fantástica: I visited with a friend who was buying some fish. WOW! I was blown away at the huge selection of tropical fresh water fish and accessories they have. And everything was so clean and all the fish and other water creatures were all happy and healthy! It made me want to get a big tank with a bunch of fish! We're from Van Isle, but if we ever do get a tank going, we'll definitely be coming back here! The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable too! Great place!

Experiencia fantástica: This store is amazing! My wife and I travelled down from Kamloops (we don't have much here) to pick up some hardscape, plants, etc as I am re-scaping my 90 gallon aquarium. All of the staff were incredibly knowledgeable, and helpful. Jacob was able to answer every question I had, and even gave me some pointers on things I didn't think about. All of the staff really seemed to care that I was happy, and confident in my purchases. Darren (store owner) went beyond my expectations by taking the time to show me and explain to me how the fish are quarantined when they arrive, and the process the store and staff go through in order to ensure quality livestock. I was so impressed with the tanks around the store that had aquascapes designed by kids. What an amazing way to give back to the community. They even have a table setup for doing a dry run of your aquascape design! When we left Kamloops, I had planned to go to 4 stores to find what I needed. After I left April's, I never bothered with the other 3 stores I planned to go to. This is my store now. To Darren and all the staff at April's Aquarium, my deepest THANK YOU for all you did for me!! Darrin was great explaining everything and what was needed to get started. I think his prices and selection is very good. I was also impressed that they stock Aquarium Co-op items which are reasonably priced. I’m really excited to receive my order in the next few days. Darrin also told me not to over think it when it comes to having fish, because the internet and YouTube can be very overwhelming and over complicating which I have found out to be. Later that afternoon I was sent a tracking number. My order came in 3 days early even with me living in Ontario, and everything was very well packaged. Experiencia fantástica: Edit... The service and attention is amazing, as well as knowledge of products. I've had to go back a couple of times to replace a couple of items. They took my returns without question and replaced them. They are very busy on the weekends so if your in a hurry the weekdays are best and on Thursday they are open until 9pm. I'm very happy with the store and all employees. I haven't been to the store yet. I asked one question last night, and the response was fast, knowledgeable, and polite. I will be definitely picking up all my equipment and fish from this store. And by reading the other reviews, I'm sure they won't disappoint. Makes me even more excited about starting a new tank after 18 years of not having fish.

There are beautifully designed planted tanks, a huge variety of livestock that look healthy and happy, more product options and hardscape options than the average store. Pricing is competitive and fair. The employees are friendly, educated, and helpful without being overbearing. I would easily recommend you stop here before anywhere else.

Experiencia fantástica: Usually the fish stores I've been to either have a large selection of fish that aren't very healthy or a healthy small selection of fish, April's was great in both categories. Me and my mom live around an hour and a half away from this location, and we found everything we needed. The only fish species I was interested in that they didn't have were dwarf neon rainbows, but they made up for it by having clown killifish. A few months ago, my mom dragged me everywhere looking for clown killifish to no avail (They're one of her favourite fish) and when she saw them here, I couldn't hold her back from getting a shoal of them for our 30 gallon. Not only were there clown killifish, but they were the biggest and healthiest clown killifish we'd ever seen at a local aquarium store. We ended up getting 3 Amano shrimp, 2 zebra nerites, 8 chili rasboras, 6 clown killifish, and a male tiger endler for a different tank.

Experiencia fantástica: I started my aquarium journey with the store on Hastings in 2020. I was buying for my daughter, the staff were amazing and we never stopped shopping. You always feel like it’s an honest friend selling you fish, they make sure that you have the right parameters for each fish. They also have a super cool variety of fish, plants and decorations. The prices are reasonable and the rewards system is like a sweet treat!!

Experiencia fantástica: This is the first fish store I've encountered that sells full sized adult healthy fish. The care they put into the health of the fish is astounding and I've never been happier to have such a wonderful place so close by. my only complaint is that some of their stock can be less than perfect sometimes where I've seen some fish with little deformities, but the fact that even those fish are so healthy and happy really is a testament to the care the staff put in. The plants are also really well cared for. If you ever needed healthy plants to add to your tank they sell full grown stems, not just little cuttings. the store also has a lot of rare varieties of fish that I haven't found anywhere else with amazing variety and colours and even better is they jave a points program so you can free stuff for shopping with them! here's the electric blue rams and long finned albino cherry barbs i got from them two days ago in a quarantine tank eating a krill wafer.

Experiencia fantástica: Always great service and great selection of plants, livestock, hardscape, and general supplies. Staff is very knowledgeable and happy to help with any questions or issues. There are so few dedicated fish shops left these days and this one is one of the best I've been to. The location isn't ideal especially if you don't live in Vancouver proper, but it's worth the trek for sure! They also do online orders and have quick delivery local to the greater Vancouver area.

Experiencia fantástica: In my opinion we need more Local Fish Stores (LFS). As a child growing up in the Lower Mainland the only fish stores I knew were LFS where the owners were hobbyist and knew about the fish with great advice. There are very few of those stores left and as far as my now decades in the hobby guides my understanding April’s is great store. In the new location they are working hard to improve and things are only getting better. I often travel to Seattle and impressed by LFS like Aquarium Coop, Aquarium Zen and Sierra Pets and as far as I am concerned April’s is as close to those experiences that you’ll find locally. As I work to add fish to my newest planted tanks April’s was the go-to for variety and selection and reasonable price. I bought enough fish so that they were delivered to … you can’t get any better than that.

Experiencia fantástica: I love this place and the folks running it. Darrin and Jacob are wildly passionate about taking care of the livestock and bringing it in from the best sources. They take big risks bringing in wild-caught stuff that is highly sensitive but despite that their wild-caught stock is some of the best I've bought (more so than the 'heartiest', captive bred stuff some big box stores sell). They put in the time to do it right. Not only do they take care of their livestock, they take care of their customers. Genuinely the best retail experience I've had in BC - not just from an LFS. This place is for people who love fish and want to geek out.

The fish were NFS due to quarantine. The helpful staff made some suggestions, in the end I left with 6 clown face raspora. Now that I’ve had them a couple of days I’m very happy. Experiencia fantástica: Ive been in this hobby for long time, and I have seen so many stores come and go. Some for obvious reasons like selling sic or dining fish, and others simply due to ebbs and flows of the hobby itself. But it's not hard to get excited about fish keeping when you enter Aprils Aquarium. The store has come so far in such a short time. You know the moment you enter that this is truly a unique fish first store. Gone is the ol dinginess that so many old pet stores were famous for, as for Aprils it is truly an attractive store. Everything is well laid out, products and displays are fun to browse over, then there are those display tanks. Now don't get me wrong those tanks take some work but if you're up to the challenge the staff there with their knowledge and passion will be able to give you all the advice/products you need to achieve great healthy beautiful tanks. There are so many tanks that are always well maintained and displaying so many great ol favourites, as well as unique new species Ive never seen 30+ years. Cant wait to get some of those new gobies. Heck if I knew someone would offer and exchange-a-CO2 bottle system I'd never would have bought mine. You cant beet the price on their bottle exchange, I just filled a 20lb and paid more. This store is worth the drive, even just for some food. But what truly impresses me, is the passion for the hobby the owner and staff have. They are true hobbits and care about this great hobby of ours. You won't see any of those colour dyed tetras here. Lots of interesting colors and species you will be in there for a while before you can decide what you will take home with you. They provide excellent customer service and really care about making sure the customer gets the highest quality product. My livestock purchases from them have never disappointed and I can trust that they quarantine their fish before it gets to us providing an added layer of reassurance. I had ordered a plant tissue culture but Darrin on delivery was not happy with the state of the tissue culture and made sure I got a brand new one from their latest shipment. The quality of the fish shipped to me, how they were properly bagged, packed and shipped was top notch. My dry good order was also shipped quickly with the order placed Friday and it arrived Monday. Getting high end aquascaping gear and Aquarium Co-op supplies and other enthusiast brands shipped free to my door is fantastic as long as you meet the reasonable spend. Had a brief opportunity to visit the store today and it didn’t let down. Darren and Jacob possess the knowledge to meet every customers demands. The variety of fish species in house blew me away and I’ve been in the hobby for over 35 years. If I wasn’t flying I would have left with several bags and actually some new species I’ve not seen before.
