Experiencia fantástica: Very good little pet shop. We went for tropical fish and plants certain fish are slightly over priced however the plants was very cheap so kind of balanced it out

Experiencia negativa: Just been in to purchase a couple of things as it’s a long standing family business I’d thought I’d give it a try instead of going to a national retailer. Was spoken to very rudely by the person who was seeing to us not letting us finish on what we was trying to say saying that it’s up to them if they serve us what we came in for. For one I know for a fact that we will not be stepping foot in the premises again until they know what customer service is

The quality of their products and the range of availability is what makes them stand out. They're also a family run shop and always friendly and attentive. Won't go anywhere else for my aquarium supplies. Absolutely superb, and they have their own parking for customers.
Experiencia fantástica: Visited today as I've recently started keeping fish again by order of my Granddaughter, bought nine fish and a few live plants, absolutely thrilled with the prices and the man that served me (owner) was very knowledgeable about all things fish and only too happy to help with any questions/queries, I'm happy to say I've now found my new go-to fish specialist and look forward to going again. 5⭐️+. A lot of patience along with consistent, gentle, quiet handling is key to taming all animals. As we discussed Gerbils by nature love to chew and aren't the easiest to be handled due to them being so quick but they can make lovely pets when enough time is spent handling them

The gentleman that served me was very knowledgeable and helped me get all the correct stuff in place in order for my tank to work and so far I've had zero problems I will be going back for all of my tanks stuff in the future really good local pet store highly recommend.

Experiencia negativa: Good selection of stuff for fish. Staff seem friendly and they know their stuff about aquatics! Nice that dogs are allowed in store too (we saw a few which was fun) and the staff seemed happy to help when asked. Unfortunately, I am a bit concerned about the living conditions of the small animals and birds that live on the premises. It seems they are provided with the bare minimum in terms of environment and enrichment. The rabbit in particular was in a hutch that was too small (very low to the ground despite overhearing the assistant tell another customer it is frightened of dogs). The birds seem to be packed in small enclosures, they seemed stressed. Yes, it is an old store, dark and a bit run down but if they cannot provide an appropriate space for live animals, they should not be there. It is a shame because I can tell the store owners mean well and are trying their best!
Hi Sharna, I’m very sorry to hear that you feel this way about some of the conditions. I can assure you our animals are well cared for with daily assessment, cleaning, feeding and drinking. All housing is within animal regulations as we get annual visits from Pet store licencing to ensure we have adequate enclosures available. The Rabbit in question was not for sale and was housed in a temporary hutch before it was given back to the owners that day, the temporary enclosure 'Thumper' was also kept in, by industry standards, was over double the length than what is recommended and measures 8 foot/240cm in length as opposed to the recommended size of 100cm for that size of Rabbit. Additionally, yes we welcome Dogs in store and we ask customers to be wary around animals as although dogs might be happy to see them and may not show any aggression towards them, some of our animals may not feel the same way. We do provide multiple hides if animals are feeling uneasy.
The birds again, are within recommended size guidance. They may perhaps have seemed a bit more ‘flappy’ than usual since they were still settling in and in a new environment. As part of our routine for new animals that have newly arrived in store, we move them from quarantine. This is where we ensure our Birds (and other animals) are all healthy, feeding and drinking properly before we sell them. By nature birds during the settling in period may appear to be a bit more edgy than usual but just need a few days to adjust to their new surroundings.
We do however take your comments seriously and on board and are prepared to make adjustments to keep our animals comfortable for their short stay in store before they are moved into their forever home.

Experiencia fantástica: Saved my life! My filter broke in my tank and my fish were gasping for air. Called them up and he said to come to the shop and he would help me out. Brilliant advice, helped mt buy the right filter and some solution to clean the water of algae, very helpful and extremely polite. I cannot thank you enough, I will be back very soon for some more weather loaches :)

Partner was ringing all week as my stepdaughter wanted a baby hamster, they said x amount on their own or cheaper with a cage (we'd already spent £70 on a cage, all setup). Come the day of purchase they refused the sale as their supply was short and were only willing to sell to customers buying a cage at the same time (extra £39), we went elsewhere and now she's happy.

They stock a good selection of fish,foods equipment and aquariums for us fish keepers and have a wealth of knowledge when asked about problems. They also have a nice selection of foods and equipment for birds, rabbits, and other rodents dogs cats ect, birds and rodents are also available to buy here. And if you are into fishing they also sell a wide variety of rods and bate & tackle aswell. Love pet man's store has been a icon of ashtons old town highstreet aslong as I can remember worth a visit
Experiencia fantástica: I shop here really often, even though I don't live in Ashton anymore I still travel there to go pet man, it's been there along as I can remember (obviously was across the road from where it is now) I can't do a review that will give it enough justice, the staff are absolutely amazing, they go the extra mile for their customers and have a wealth of knowledge, I always leave feeling valued, they are really friendly, outgoing and helpful. I won't shop anywhere else now their prices are really good too.
