Every member of staff has been brilliant and Corrina was wonderful this morning, guiding us as we decided on the fabulous fins that would bring our new pond to life. As a father of two teenagers ("daaaaaad" ), it was really special to have their full attention as Corrina taught us everything we needed to know. Marc has been extremely helpful in supporting me throughout the process and nothing is too much trouble. Very knowledgable about everything fish related. The process went so smoothly I’m now considering another tank!

Experiencia fantástica: Fantastic aquatic centre in Farnborough/ north camp, all the staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. Popped up there to get some advice on how I could improve my fish tank and which fish would be suitable in the same community. They have an amazing selection of well looked after, healthy fish, plants and more. I happily came away with some black neon tetras and some amazing orange coloured guppies to go with my rummy noses who are settling in perfectly. Highly recommended, I will definitely be back in the future.

Experiencia fantástica: Best shop in the whole area. Plenty of species - not available elsewhere. They must have good sources of the fish. From my experience - you pay a bit more here, but their fish survive while these from other shops die.

Experiencia fantástica: I've returned to keeping fish after 20yrs out of the hobby. All the staff are really helpful and gave me quality direction to assist me as essentially a new comer. I've started with a small set up with only 3 fish but it's coming along fantastically as a result of following guidance from the shop. I will return regularly as the hobby becomes more of an obsession! The shop is great, fantastic selection of fish and lovely looking batta fish, of which is my aim to have one for a second tank. Great shop, great knowledge and worth the travel if you are out of the area.

We have regular deliveries of both Freshwater and Saltwater though occasionally, between deliveries, we may be low on certain things. There is always an option to order specific things if not normally stocked.

Experiencia fantástica: Amazing variety of fish all at great prices. My daughter loved looking at everything and I got a tube stack house for my mum's baby bristlenose plecos which she's needed for a few weeks. The only place locally I'd buy fish from. Will be back once I have my own tank set up

Experiencia fantástica: Did upgrade of my marine tank without sump to one redsea with sump. Mark and colleague have suggested the best option, they went at my home and did full installation (they moved rocks, corals etc from old tank to new one) Friendly service, and a professional approach to the customer. I can recommend in 100%!

I did not buy my original kit in this shop because I did not know it existed, but I did buy quite a lot of plants and accessories. Experiencia fantástica: Great Aquatic shop. I visited on a weekend with my two boys was made to feel very welcome. We were not harassed by the staff and spent ages looking at all the fish in the tanks. I am new to fish keeping and when I did approach a member of staff he was only too willing to help, giving the answer to lots of questions on cycling my tank, what type of fish to start with etc. Although I got my tank etc from a different store I will definitely be coming here to get my fish stock.

Experiencia negativa: Some of the staff here are inexperienced people moonlighting as people with experience. Their bad advice cost me about £200, not to mention the loss of a few fish. After some back and forth they eventually gave me a credit of about £75. RESPONSE TO LYNCHFORD AQUATICS REPLY: My review wasn't out of the blue. After speaking to another aquatics shop, I called you the other day to discuss what appeared to be some other previous bad advice of yours, regarding adding salt to my fresh water tank. It was catalogue of errors from your company from the moment i came to you, that cost me nearly triple what you compensated (not to mention losing some amazing fish). That you all seem relatively pleasant and appear to care (which i would hope for, when you are dealing with animal welfare) does not change the fact that i had terrible advice from your less experienced staff members (who acted as though they had all the answers). I have had fish for 30 years now and thought your advice would take things up a notch. Instead it obliterated my tank. You should be ashamed of yourselves for your response (saying i have too "high standards"). Accidents happen (and staff might make mistakes). But making so many mistakes, then defending the indefensable and making inaccurate statements is not ok (you claimed i had your loaches for "a few years" when it was closer to a few months). It would appear that you believe that you can do little wrong. I can see where your staff get it from.
Sorry you felt compelled to write some disparaging comments about the staff. Their experience is not in question and I take exception to you implying they are ‘moonlighting’. It is just rude! It took a while for us to remember who you were especially as it was well over 6 months ago that this happened. Odd you suddenly think it’s worthy of review. From memory you had some loaches in with your Goldfish for a few years and you said you weren’t told there could be an issue with them sucking on the fish. Regardless the credit was simply a goodwill gesture. As with all businesses we do encounter the very occasional customer that you cannot satisfy because it’s always someone else’s fault. Hopefully you manage to find somewhere that will satisfy your high standards.

Experiencia fantástica: Couldn't speak more highly of the quality and care at lynchford, the staff are all really friendly, and customer service is great, they offer really detailed advice about a large range of things, from smaller planted tanks, to large outdoor ponds, tanks are all extremely well setup and clearly done with care and precision from a large array of knowledge gained over many years in the trade. Try to pop into lynchford whenever I have the chance, and will DEFINETLY be continuing to come here for help!

Experiencia negativa: Having completely cleaned my tank after the last of our fish died, I went to buy just half a dozen neons to get started again. But the only interest the chap behind the counter has was to try and sell me additional water treatments. These aren’t required, the tank is perfectly well set up. At one point I questioned whether they would sell me the fish at all! Not a shop I’ll go back to.
Hi Philip Sorry to hear your slightly stilted and unfair comments. We do not 'try' to sell products. Joe was simply suggesting that it is a good idea to add bacteria to an aquarium that has been without fish. Fairly standard practice. The bacteria need waste from the fish and without it start to reduce as was possible in your instance. Its up to you whether you take advice or not. We do not give you a 1* review for ignoring it. Our 5 star Pet Shop Licence, the only one issued to an aquatic shop in the borough, is awarded for demonstrating various things, 1 of which is to ensure the well being of the fish once sold. You can take it up with the licencing authority if you do not feel it is appropriate for this safeguard to be followed. We often refuse to sell fish where conditions are not met. Hardly indicative of a shop that just wants to sell for the sake of it. It is really easy to jump on review sites and bemoan something that you do not like. Hard earned reputations are easy to damage with unbalanced knee-jerk reactions. You do not take into account anything other than the fact you were advised to do something that would help to safeguard your new pets. Hard sell is not something we do and having traded for 70 years we realise this is not a technique that would keep customers coming back year after year. My team are amongst the most conscientious and knowledgeable in trade. We have 80 years experience between us so your comments are ill judged with no foundation. We never want to turn away business but there are a few, very rare, instances where we would actually prefer that a customer does not return and this is probably one of those. Staff are not here to have accusations thrown at them. They are here to provide the best service they can for our customers. This they do on a daily basis and I unequivocally back them.

They started off with good advice about fish BUT they gave TERRIBLE advice about setting up the tank, as brought 2 LARGE pieces of wood for a new tank but they NEVER advised about the length of time it takes to soak it to get the toxins out, or that it would float. Spent A LOT of money there and feel they totally took advantage of us! We wanted a simple set up to start off and now spend excessive amounts on poor information which we trusted. Wanted to share this experience to help others new to it all! BE CAREFUL!

We certainly do not set out to give the impression or feeling that we just want money out of customers aside the fact we are a retailer. We have been established for over 70 years and as you will see from the vast majority of reviews they do not align with your comments. We always try and advise that wood should be soaked and/or boiled if practical. The amount of time it takes for natural tanning, not toxins, to leach from wood will vary and can be removed with carbon if you do not want evidence of a natural process. We certainly don’t guarantee against buoyancy though in time most wood will become negative though sometimes weighing down is necessary on some larger decorative pieces such as Corbo. We spend a great deal of time with customers where required so struggle to accept the comments but feel free to email or pop in and will be happy to discuss where things went wrong.

Experiencia positiva: Better than average store, display tanks showing knowledge and skill. Not at all cheap for livestock and of limited interest for the planted tank enthusiast. Friendly and on the ball staff. Full range of fish including marines and good range of dry goods.

For reference we can get cheaper livestock but, in our 70 year experience, quality drops so invariably we will source from higher quality suppliers which will come at a slight premium. That said we still feel we are cheaper than most locally on a like for like basis. Our plant deliveries come on a Friday so we will have 24 feet of tanks full of plants. Towards the end of the week this will usually sell out ready for the next Friday restock. Specialist plants can always be ordered and many of our customers take advantage of this service. We also have a lot of bits tucked around the shop including the showroom at the rear of the pond section so if you don’t see what you are after it’s always worth asking.

Currently setting up our first tank and had a few visits before buying anything and they were so helpful, weren’t pushy and gave us the time to answer all our questions. Have also sent them messages through facebook and so quick to answer with useful advice. Lastly in the store itself the fish look so healthy and active. Have been to other stores where the fish are eating one another or look sluggish, never the case here. Will be back in store soon!

Experiencia negativa: If your after cichlids then i advise you go elsewhere their stock is poor and by poor i mean 5 of the dullest looking fish ive ever seen. Shocking.
I have to take issue with your review. Very sweeping statements that are inaccurate and misleading. I assume you are talking African Cichlids. We do not specialise in Cichlids and do not say that we do. That said we usually have a fair selection and still have several including Rams, Geophagus, Severums, and 3 types of Africans. Approx 100 cichlids rather than the 5 you state. The Red Tops you must be talking about are dull juveniles but there are 7 in the tank!January is never a great time for abundance of stock with reduced availability following Xmas interruption and Chinese New Year. So by our normal standards stock is limited which will be remedied shortly. But we still have hundreds of fish. I think you need to add a little balance and maybe think about the bigger picture of a small business. Perhaps add to the equation the service, the cleanliness of the shop, the massive stock of dry goods covering marines, ponds and freshwater.

Thank you for the feedback. We always value it. We do pride ourselves on the fact that we keep our tanks clean and algae is done weekly in every trop tank and twice weekly on marines. Over the Xmas week with days closed and shorter hours we cannot always fit it in so would guess you came in through this time. By Friday in normal weeks all tanks are cleaned and water changed so by tomorrow afternoon everything is done and the plants are restocked ready for the weekends. The person who served you is a newer member of staff so is the least experienced though an avid fish keeper. He would always ask one of us if unsure of something. The other 4 of us have a combined experience of approx 90 years so can always be called on to fill knowledge gaps.

Experiencia fantástica: Great shop. We decided to get fish after being given a tank by family. We were completely clueless but everything was explained in detail. We left knowing what we needed to do to set our tank up and later returned to get fish. Have telephoned a couple of times to ask questions and all the staff have been so helpful. Everyone working at Lynchford are evidently passionate about what they do and for helping beginners get really switched on and excited about running an aquarium with happy fish! This is clearly a very well regarded place as other customers were also friendly and knowledgeable and it was so interesting hearing them talk about their aquariums and the fishes they kept :-)

Experiencia fantástica: Wanted to buy some proper cured live rock to kickstart my tank set up with dry rocks and sand, looked at least 5 places in the wider area including the big chains, found no goodies, went into this shop and: + they had live rock varied in sizes from small rubble to bigger pieces, some covered with coraline algae + they left me alone to lurk and pick whatever I wanted + were not overly pushy with advice + been very hepful with the bags etc. Overall I absolutely loved the place and service.

Experiencia negativa: Marine section is shockingly overpriced, corals costing 4x as much in surrounding areas. Staff are friendly but i think a return visit is not happening anytime soon
Sorry you feel that way. Marine costs have risen sharply with increased freight and other overheads driven by both COVID and Brexit most of which we have tried to absorb. We are frequently told how competitive we are and do not feel the comments are particularly fair or accurate but if you can find marine stock a quarter of the price then fair enough. Those stores will be running at a considerable loss. Our staff have been working incredibly hard through an extremely challenging and busy time so are always disappointed with poor feedback but as this is purely based on an opinion on pricing I will ensure they are not dispirited by it.
