Experiencia fantástica: Nice place, must see .

Peter Longmuir 1 month ago

Experiencia positiva: Ok for the size of the place and a wet day activity but so over priced and nothing to hurry back for

Kay Ramage 1 month ago

Experiencia positiva: 4th birthday day out, not as I expected, it needs a refurb, definitely new level flooring.

Christopher 1 month ago

Experiencia positiva: Lots of fun with informative staff giving talks and feeding demos. A little pricey but you can come and go all day if you want to.

Daniel Orgill 1 month ago

Experiencia positiva: Its bigger than it looks from the outside. Not massive but it makes a morning out with family

Experiencia fantástica: Large selection of exhibits . Decent cafe.

Experiencia fantástica: An amazing day out for myself and my 8 year old daughter. Interactive talks every half an hour and lots of information throughout. Food is very good, with a great selection of choice, and although it was busy (lunchtime) we didn't wait long at all.

Experiencia negativa: On arrival Lagoon outside dirty brown in colour, rubbish and dead bird floating about ! Should have been a giveaway to what was yet to come . Cafe dirty and overpriced . Baguettes looked days old at £8.75 , ham was pale going blue so we opted for chips and a brew was overpriced as well ! Exhibitions poor quality and very small for what we had paid . Underwater experience terrible glass dirty and water murky ! Rotating walkway looked like it had seen better days . Gift shop terrible poor quality cuddly toys looked like pound shop sold for over £20 . Wouldn't waste your money . Go somewhere else !

Usama Rana 1 month ago

Experiencia negativa: Considering the high tickect prices, the activity hardly lasts 5 minutes and the whole aquarium is finished. Plus glass on most aquariums especially the one with sharks has been so dirty that you cant see the fish clearly. It was dirty 2 years ago and still dirty on recent visit.

Mikey C 1 month ago

Experiencia positiva: This was a very small place. Not sure it was worth it for the price. However the tunnel exhibit was fantastic. We went round it several times. Will be good for very young children who may not last a bigger place.

Giustino Miranda 2 months ago

Experiencia negativa: Nice tunnel but way to small for the price. It is tiny and I can believe you pend nearly 20£ for 1h round. Disappointed

Jenna M 2 months ago

Experiencia fantástica: We went to Deep Sea World to meet a mermaid which is on selected dates between July and August and my daughter absolutely loved it. She always loves coming to Deep Sea World and going down to the 112 meter underwater tunnel to see the sharks and Ray's. You can also see seals , Sea horses and lots more at Deep Sea World.

Craig Allan 2 months ago

Experiencia fantástica: We love sharks and we loved the tunnel too but how you can shark teeth good for kids and adults

Bharat Batra 2 months ago

Experiencia negativa: Very small and bit pricey for a family, nothing much to do. 2 stars as visited with wee one so he was happy to see the fishes. It hardly takes 30 min to see everything they have to offer. Staff is nice and friendly.

abby warren 2 months ago

Experiencia negativa: I must say I was highly disappointed for ‘Scotlands National Aquarium’. I managed to go through the whole exhibit in under 30 minutes, the floors were quite slippy and nearly fell over multiple times, no wet floor signs. A lot of the animals listed, were not there, I definitely would recommend to go elsewhere!

Rik 2 months ago

Experiencia negativa: Walked up to the entrance and quickly looked over a wall to the outdoor water area and it was absolutely filthy with plastic bottles and all sorts of detritus floating about. That was enough for me, I got back into the car and left.

Peter Nutton 2 months ago

Experiencia positiva: Very disappointed that the seals were not on show, which is one of their major attractions. Yet we were still charged full price for entry. Also surprised that there were no cephalopod (octopus, cuttlefish & squid) as these are some of the most interesting species that we have in UK waters.

Samantha Lee Thomson 2 months ago

Experiencia positiva: Lovely place, always enjoy coming here to visit. Just wish there was more! Love the axolotls and tree frogs

Mike Majewski 2 months ago

Experiencia positiva: It's highly overpriced for what it is, including the food, if you decide to sit down. If it's just 1 adult and a child under 3 then it's alright at £20 for an adult, otherwise that quickly adds up for a larger family.

Marion Thomson 3 months ago

Experiencia negativa: A disgrace. Dated. Poor exhibits. Cafe really poor quality. Products bordering stale the worst £95 I've ever spent. Very very disappointing

George 3 months ago

Experiencia fantástica: Great day out with the family and grand children. First visit in about 15 years but we'll worth a regular excursion. We will all be back much sooner. The grandsons loved the water tunnel this never gets old.

Amber Wilde 3 months ago

Experiencia fantástica: This is so wonderful. Came from Edinburgh for a day out with my boyfriend and can honestly say it has been a delightful experience. I've been to a few aquariums, and this one did not disappoint in terms of species variety and exhibition. The staff are all enthusiastic and friendly, and the food in the cafe was lush. Prices are a bit steep but the cost is understandable, and in my opinion 100% worth it. I love fishes :)

ICantThinkOfAUsername 3 months ago

Experiencia positiva: Lowkey kinda goated style. The acrylic tunnel was great and has a moving walkway if you're disabled/have a pram/etc. Talks/feedings are on every half an hour at no extra cost. The cafe was a little pricey but the food was actually lush and it's going towards a good cause so no complaints here. Beware the phone signal is shite so make sure you have your banking app stuff sorted before you rock up.

Daria Bashlaeva 3 months ago

Experiencia negativa: I wouldn’t judge for poor choice of fish but why its so dirty in the tunnel?

Danny Flydays 3 months ago

Experiencia positiva: I visited Deep Sea World with my daughter as she has a wee obsession with sharks , It's a great wee place to visit, with loads of different kinds of sea life to have a look at and learn about. There are loads of different educational presentations, throughout the and the staff are very knowledgeable about all the different types of water animals. Our favourite was the piranha feeding. The main attraction for us was the aquarium, this is where you get to sea some larger fish including some sharks, this part got my daughter very excited. Highly recommend, and once you've bought your ticket you can leave and come back later in the day.

christie hodgson 3 months ago

Experiencia negativa: Really disappointing aquarium. Not very many exhibits, limited species to look at,.no interactive displays/sessions. Shark tunnel is pretty good but tank looks so dirty! Sea area very small and no viewing area for when they are underwater (vast majority of time). Cafe really basic; food very expensive and not good (£18 for a pizza). Saw everything in under an hour, for £19pp, expensive and disappointing! Much much better aquarium local to us at Tynemouth, which is definitely not a 'National aquarium '.

Experiencia fantástica: Deep Sea World, Edinburgh – A Truly Welcoming Experience! I had a fantastic time at Deep Sea World in Edinburgh! From the moment I arrived, the staff were incredibly warm, friendly, and helpful—creating a truly welcoming atmosphere. The environment was inviting, family-friendly, and easy to navigate, making it an enjoyable visit from start to finish. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an engaging and hospitable day out!

Experiencia negativa: I took one of my young adults I support here and £17 for a concession is ridiculous price .We actually walked around in five minutes and that was trip done for five mins was not worth the trip

Andrew Mulligan 3 months ago

Experiencia positiva: Not that far from the North Queensferry station but it's a bit of steep hill.but there are signs. Accessable entrance and easy for wheelchairs and people with reduced mobility. There are lots of fish but it's smaller than I expected tbh. I walked slow and still got through it under an hour. Seals and an array of fish, some fish I haven't actually seen before but still had same fish in a few tanks but expected to see more deep sea animals and things like octopus and jellyfish etc. the shark tunnel is down a ramped area but it has a walking platform and a moving platform side by side - but since the water is pumped from the river, it's a bit murky. But pricey (19 for adults) but it was alright for a wander, can't imagine I'd ever be back again.

Experiencia negativa: Not value for money in the slightest. Great for young children upto 5. We where in and out with 45 minutes being round it twice with an 8 year old & 11 year old.

Experiencia fantástica: Visited with 2 children, aged 9 and 7. They really enjoyed the experience and loved the tunnel, going through it several times, identifying the great variety of oceanic creatures. The seal experience was excellent. The staff did a wonderful job entertaining us, while feeding the seals and encouraging them to show their diving skills and antics. A special mention to Hope for the wonderful, informative and clearly articulated commentary, all delivered without the use of notes…. Amazing job, Hope! Thank you for such an enjoyable afternoon.

Experiencia negativa: As fans of sealife we were excited to visit but that quickly disappeared once inside, it feels very sparse in terms of exhibits and everything felt dated and un loved, the tunnel was impressive in scale but again felt neglected and worn out

David Spicer 4 months ago

Experiencia positiva: Took visiting family to Deep Sea World, the exhibits are good, especially the shark tank with the underwater tunnel. What we found really disappointing was the cafe. Really high prices for poor quality offerings. Bring a packed lunch.

Experiencia negativa: Dirty place ready for renovation, bad maintenance, horrible restaurant, this is not place to show off a city potential. Not recommended. Avoid.

Angie Vera Sanchez 4 months ago

Experiencia negativa: It’s not worth it. The tickets aren’t cheap for what you get. Very dark at the bottom of the building where you go around the belt to see the fishes. Dirty glass which makes it difficult to see, plus a very poor habitat with no leaves or any kind of sea decoration to make it welcoming for the animals and visitors. Also, queuing to get the wee one’s face painted to be told by the guy that he had finished, just with the family in front of us.

Paula Dolan 4 months ago

Experiencia fantástica: Great day out for the family or even just with friends. Lots to see and do. Plenty of parking. Inside, you have hundreds of species of fish and even Harbour Seals. There are lots of information boards around the facility to help you learn more about each species of sea creatures. There is an escalator to go around the under the sea tunnel, where you can see sharks and stingrays plus more swimming above you. It is wheelchair friendly throughout. At specified times, you can see the staff feeding some of the fish and learn more from them about that particular species. There is a cafe, but you can take your own food. Before leaving, you can take a look at the souvenir shop.

Gary 4 months ago

Experiencia negativa: Very expensive for a run down, dated place. So disappointing as this used to be a great family day out for the kids, but everything just feels old and in need of a renovation. Even the main aquarium was so dirty you could barley see the handfull of rays and sharks they had. It's difficult to get more than 30 mins out of the place and for the price it's just not value for money, I am really sorry to say that I would advise against wasting your money here.

Monica Malet 4 months ago

Experiencia fantástica: We had a lovely family day here at Deep Sea World. We enjoyed seeing all the fishes and seeing the seals being fed was a highlight too. The treasure hunt for kids to find clues was great too. The café was handy to grab some lunch.

Experiencia positiva: Great venue They offer feeding times throughout the day Largest under tunnel experience of the sea life freely swimming around and about you Cafe on site Wheelchair ♿️ and buggie friendly Accessible by public transport/walk from the train station Car park on site No dogs allowed inside Very small/quick experience for the price

Lara 5 months ago

Experiencia fantástica: Quite pricey for a small aquarium out of Edinburgh but still amazing, staff are very knowledgeable and experienced. It is definitely worth the price for the activities they do throughout the day and the seals were a show!!

Joshua Lindsey 5 months ago

Experiencia positiva: This place is a fun day out. I feel like they’re lacking a bit of investment but they’re definitely doing a good thing raising awareness about pollution and sea life. We had a good hour or two there. The shark tunnel is particularly good.

Albert 5 months ago

Experiencia positiva: Quite basic and not so many animals on display. It looks a bit worn down, but staff is friendly and give their best to get the most out of it. That deserves a visit. Great view by the way of the famous Edinburgh bridge.

Christina Hutton 5 months ago

Experiencia negativa: Honestly such a waste of money, we spent over £60 to get in as a family of 3 plus a baby. Walked round the aquarium within 20 mins, displays closed off for maintenance, staff looking very sad and miserable. Not worth the 40 minute drive to go for us.

Kieran Ward 5 months ago

Experiencia negativa: AVOID AVOID AVOID As soon as you go towards this place your met with a large water area that is polluted with rubbish and plastic and what looks like protein build up or oil Nearly £60 for a 10 min walk around a few tanks and a 5 minute view of an extremely dirty underwater tunnel Very over priced and terrible customer service. Some of the marine life and the tropicals don't look that well preserved to be honest You call up to dispute your rubbish experience and get told "well our prices are what we believe are what they should be" Bullshit place Bullshit customer service And unhealthy looking animals

Laura Brown 5 months ago

Experiencia positiva: Considering they were offering kids for £1 it didn't seem to apply on Monday 7th April! You can go around it in 15 minutes with the price it's a bit of a rip off

Lisa Bryans 5 months ago

Experiencia negativa: Please don't waste you're time or money in visiting this place, very little to do and see for the price. The tunnel itself is filthy and very rundown ruining the overall experience and the pricing of the gift shop is astronomical!! You expect to pay more in these shops, which I have done many times before to please my children but £60 for a stuffed toy, everything was way over priced for what it was. A very disappointing birthday for my daughter

Gillian Cassidy 5 months ago

Experiencia negativa: Honestly not worth the money and we got a Kids for £1 deal. We had seen everything in about 30 minutes. Then we had some lunch and the cafe is very uninspiring but the food was decent. I definitely wouldn't rush back. The Tunnel is so dirty on the water side too that it was hard to see anything which is a let down as its the main atttraction

Chris Smallwood 5 months ago

Experiencia positiva: It’s well worth the visit just for the location! Although it looks a bit tired and could do with a spruce up - especially with regards to food quality in the Café - the range of animals/ marine creatures is very good.

Shadi abd al-azim 5 months ago

Experiencia negativa: As someone who visited many aquariums worldwide, I would say that this one needs more care, especially the tunnel. Also, the price is a bit high. However, it is worth a visit for the little ones to get educated.

Kimmie 5 months ago

Experiencia negativa: As someone who often travels to other countries to visit aquariums this definitely was the most disappointing one I've ever been to. $19 for the smallest aquarium I've ever been to where the animals got the least space I've seen so far. The building itself is kinda outdated as well and everything was very dusty. We spent more time on the train from and to Edinburgh than it took us to walk through the aquarium. Save your money and visit a better aquarium is my tip

Matthew Dovey 5 months ago

Experiencia fantástica: I did the shark dive experience over the weekend and for me, it was absolutely incredible - I loved it! It's not cheap but for me, was worth every penny. As well as the full days admission for myself and my sister (who got to watch me from the tunnel), I got taken behind the scenes to have the briefing and get kitted up (drysuits are used because the water is around 12 Celsius). I was able to get in the water to do the skills training before being allowed into the main tank (this can take a while depending on the progress of everyone taking part so bear that in mind!). Once I got in the main tank, the experience was absolutely incredible and I managed to get to see the Sand Tiger Sharks, Stingrays and other marine life get extremely close to me, which was absolutely mind blowing. The instructor even did a few cool tricks to make things more fun. He even went the extra mile for me by adapting the experience to my Autism and skill level as I'm close to qualifying as a diver anyway, meaning it felt more natural for me and certainly more enjoyable. But even if you're a beginner who has never dived before and are just trying this out for fun, I'm in no doubt you'll love it regardless! But to literally have the Stingrays and Sharks come so close to me - and right above me - so close and yet be so calm was just amazing. You won't know how it feels until you try it yourself. It felt extremely magical and I even made it fun for the children watching from the tunnel by signalling to them and waving back at them - that really made a lot of them laugh and smile. While I was getting ready, my sister was given a bit of a tour of the place and looked after by another guide who kept her informed of progress, whilst also making sure all spectators were in the best parts of the tunnel at the right times to see the divers coming through. I also appreciated being given two free spectator tickets (you can buy more at a discounted rate on the day if needed) and the total lack of any upsells whatsoever (plus, your spectators can take as many photos of you as they want for free!) meant that the £250 I paid really did feel like exceptional value for money. Overall, a really cool place and possibly the best aquarium shark dive in the UK. Well worth it!

Reb ster 6 months ago

Experiencia positiva: £19 each for about an hour of a walk around, for a national aquarium not a great ratio but the tunnel walk around area is incredible and absolutely worth visiting. The seals are also quite cute, so at least you know your money is going somewhere important. Surrounding town area is also gorgeous to walk through and look at, only thing is if you're not coming by car the hill can be a killer on the knees going back up

Vicki Cook 6 months ago

Experiencia fantástica: I revisited as an adult after some wonderful memories from a childhood visit. I was not disappointed. It was well signposted and plenty of parking. Access was great as we were visiting as a big family group if we'd needed the pushchair it would have been no problem. Staff at reception were brilliant, helpful and ensured we bought the best value tickets. Advised us of the upcoming feedings and where to go to view them. We watched the seals being fed, a very enjoyable experience and so much fun. The commentary was excellent and the staff happy to chat afterwards. The seals stole the show, wonderful characters and so fun watching them. The aquarium is outstanding, the moving floor is so much fun and we enjoyed going round, stepping off, speed walking to keep up with the fish, hours of fun for our little people. We were able to see the tanks of fish being fed too, lots of fun watching the fish grab their food and the shy fish sneaking out for their food too. The staff were friendly and happy to answer questions and really engaging with the children. I'd recommend a visit, a really lovely experience

Melissa N 6 months ago

Experiencia positiva: Very overpriced tickets. Didn't take us long to go around and there didn't seem any flow to the place. We weren't told about any activites taking place. The shark tank was very dirty around the glass. The other enclosures were nice however.

Baby changing and toilet facilities also good.

Experiencia positiva: Visited today with my partner and her granddaughter who was 3 , we found that the glass in the tunnel was dirty and at some parts unable to see the fish. So photo's were not very clear . The other tanks were clear and all the fish looked healthy . The girl in the gift shop was friendly enough but her face told us a different story. Cafe was OK but windows needed a clean .

Thank you for your review. We’re glad to hear that you found the fish healthy and that the other tanks were clear. We understand your concerns about the tunnel glass, and while we do our best to maintain it, natural factors, such as animal activity can reduce visibility. However, we will ensure that additional attention is given to this area as part of our regular cleaning processes to improve the experience for all visitors. Regarding the café and gift shop, we appreciate your feedback. We aim to create a welcoming atmosphere for all visitors, and we will review how we can enhance this for future visits. We value our team members and are proud to offer an inclusive and supportive work environment, where everyone can grow and develop their skills. We hope you’ll consider visiting us again and give us the opportunity to provide you with an even better experience.

experience of walking among sea creatures—it really is a special way to see marine life up close. We appreciate your understanding about the building’s age. While Deep Sea World has been around for some time, we’re always working to improve and enhance the experience for our visitors. Most importantly, we’re glad you had a great time with the kids! We look forward to welcoming you back for another visit soon.

Thank you for your review. We’re glad to hear that your daughter enjoyed her visit and that you found our talks, especially the seal feed, to be a highlight! Animal welfare is our top priority, so we appreciate you recognising the care we provide for our marine life. While we understand that value for money is subjective, we aim to offer a full experience beyond the exhibits, with daily talks, feeding sessions, and interactive elements to engage visitors of all ages. We hope to welcome you back in the future for another enjoyable visit!

Experiencia negativa: I think in the 90s when it first opened it was state of the art, and people flocked here. Fond memories of being in awe of it. Having visited again as an adult the layout is quite poor. There is little flow to the attractions. The initial rock tidal pool are so low down every children struggle to meaningfully look into them. Having said that, our child enjoyed it and would go again. The car park, cafe, entrance, and experience to me feels slightly run down and showing signs of age. The underwater tunnel is really run down. Missing signs, murky water, less of a variety of fish as they used to, and the worst thing was when you first go in, the tunnel is covered in muck, debris and algae, there was writing in the tunnel from the inside from divers? It was so hard to see through. Two adults (parents and grandparents, one child) with food cost about £150. In summary, kids enjoyed it, adult experience is that it’s a very short visit, and very dated. I would recommend the Macduff Marine Aquarium, it is smaller, not as exotic, but it has a good flow, windows that are kept clear and still has the touch pools. The owner responses to this review I believe to be AI generated. As a response to their response would contradictory criticise that whilst the underwater tunnel is long, quality takes presidency over quantity. It’s a barren environment, all one colour, no plant life, all artificial lighting.

Deep Sea World
Deep Sea World

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. We’re pleased to hear that your child enjoyed the visit—that’s what we always strive for! While we understand that returning as an adult offers a different perspective, Deep Sea World continues to provide a unique and immersive experience that has captivated visitors for decades. Our underwater tunnel remains one of the longest in Europe, offering a truly up-close view of our incredible marine life. Natural factors such as algae and movement from animals like rays can sometimes affect visibility, but we carry out regular cleaning and maintenance to ensure the best possible experience. Our species collection has evolved over time, but we remain dedicated to showcasing a diverse range of fascinating marine creatures. Beyond the exhibits, a visit to Deep Sea World can last for hours with our daily talks, feeding sessions, and interactive experiences. From our displays to educational presentations about our seals, sharks, and other marine life, there’s plenty to engage visitors of all ages. We appreciate your thoughts on the layout and will take them into account as we continue to develop and enhance the site. We’re always working on improvements, and we’d love to welcome you back in the future to experience everything Deep Sea World has to offer.

Experiencia negativa: Charging that kind of price for something you can get around in 30 mins is absolute ridiculous. Daylight robbery from the entry prices right through to the food and shop prices. Family day would cost over 100quid easily for less than an hour. Mental. Never be back

We’re sorry to hear that your visit didn’t meet your expectations. At Deep Sea World, we aim to provide an enriching and engaging experience for all our guests. Our entry prices help support the care of our animals, as well as our ongoing conservation efforts and community outreach programs. To make the most of your visit, we recommend taking part in our daily talks and feeding sessions, where you can witness our marine life up close and learn from our knowledgeable staff. Experiencia positiva: The fish in the main exhibit were really impressive and the seals were great fun. Experiencia positiva: The highlight of our visit to Deep Sea World was undoubtedly the underwater tunnel. This impressive glass walkway transports you into the heart of the ocean, offering an up-close view of the marine life swimming all around you. As we strolled through, we found ourselves surrounded by sharks, rays, and a variety of fish, gliding effortlessly above and alongside us. It felt like being submerged in the ocean itself. The graceful movements of the creatures, coupled with the soft, atmospheric lighting, created a dreamlike ambiance. It was especially magical to watch our little one’s wide-eyed wonder as the marine life swam by—truly a moment of joy for us all. One of the most captivating experiences was the outdoor seal enclosure. We had the chance to watch the seals swimming just beneath the walkway, their playful behavior a delight to witness. It was amazing to see them glide gracefully through the water just inches below our feet. Their feeding time was another highlight—watching them dive and interact with their keepers was both exciting and entertaining, making it a special moment during our visit. Another must-see was the feeding time inside the aquarium. We watched as the typically lazy fish suddenly sprang into action, leaping out of the water in pursuit of their meal. It was a burst of energy that added an unexpected thrill to the peaceful atmosphere of the aquarium. Beyond the underwater wonders, the aquarium also offers a fascinating collection of Amazonian wildlife and amphibians. We were enchanted by vibrant frogs, colorful reptiles, and unique creatures native to the Amazon’s lush ecosystems. These exhibits added variety and depth, enriching our experience further. For those looking for an even more immersive experience, Deep Sea World offers a behind-the-scenes option. For just £4.50, you can venture behind the scenes to see the inner workings of the aquarium, from the care of the animals to the fascinating life-support systems that keep the exhibits running. It’s a great opportunity to get a deeper understanding of the facility and its conservation efforts. Before all of this, we stopped for a bite at the café. The New York burger was a real treat. As soon as I took the first bite, I could taste the tenderness of the perfectly cooked beef patty, juicy and bursting with flavor. Each bite was an indulgence, with the juices dripping down as I savored the rich, savory taste. The burger was stacked high with fresh ingredients, the crispy bacon adding a delightful crunch and the melted cheese adding a luscious creaminess. It was one of those burgers that, despite its indulgence, left me wanting more. We also tried the fish and chips, which were just as enjoyable, though the mushy peas had a slightly “greeny” flavor—not unpleasant, just a bit different. The best part of the meal was the serene view from the café, where we could watch the seals being fed, which kept our little one entertained and engaged. The combination of delicious food, captivating marine life, and unique experiences like the outdoor seal exhibit, feeding times, and the behind-the-scenes tour made our visit to Deep Sea World unforgettable. While the venue could benefit from a bit of renewal and modernization to keep up with the times, these moments of wonder—along with the fascinating Amazonian wildlife—more than made up for any imperfections. A little extra space and some updates would really elevate the experience, but overall, it was a perfect escape into the beauty of the ocean and the wonders of nature, leaving us with cherished memories.

Experiencia positiva: For the price of tickets .. its not a great tour. Be ware if you come down by train it down at the bottom of quarry and down steep roads with limited handrails They aim at parents with kids . But at those prices very expensive

Experiencia positiva: We walked round 3 times to get monies worth and still left within an hour. But it is worth visiting if passing by.

Experiencia fantástica: Our 5 and 2 year old loved it. We spent the best part of 3 hours there. It's definitely worth staying for some of the feeding time. Staff were all young but really good with the kids. Yes, the tunnel had a slight cloud to it, but we could still see the sharks and fish inside it. The reality is that it's probably not the easiest thing to clean. Price was fair, considering the number of things the kids could see and learn throughout the time spent there. Cafe food was better than expected. Freshly cooked and filling.

Experiencia positiva: Really enjoyed our visit. Kids thought it was great, especially the seals. Would have given it 5 stars, but the glass tunnel seems very dirty and obscured the view a bit.

Experiencia positiva: Great day out if you have young kids. Quite expensive for what’s left of the place. Not been since I was a kid and to be honest the whole place needs updating. The slope down to the tunnel no longer plays whale noises etc. The tunnel glass really needs cleaning bad it’s not as clear as it should be and can be quite hard to see the fish unless they are close to the glass. The water is so murky. Also the floor that used to move is broken or they just don’t turn it on. You can get round the whole place is less an hour which is why I say it’s quite expensive. You used to be able to hold snakes etc but you can even do that anymore so all you can do is look at the tanks which your not really spending more then a minute or 2 at each one. The gift shop is SUPER expensive. £22 for a stuffed toy and they only get more pricey. My mum used the toilets and said they were disgusting. The variety of fish they have is pretty cool. Some of them are MASSIVE and it’s awesome seeing the sharks and the stingrays. My daughter really enjoyed the couple of hours we spent here. She loved seeing the seals and it’s nice standing out by the seals with the bridge right there. The reptiles are pretty cool although I’m sure there’s only one snake which you can barely see. All in all as I said it’s fine if you have young kids they will be pretty fascinated by the lights and fish but for the price they charge for adults and the price of the gift shop you’d think they would clean the tanks…after all it’s supposed to be a major attraction.. it’s just changed a lot since I was a kid and lost a lot of magic.

Experiencia fantástica: Great fun day out. Sharks were awesome and the harbour seals were fun to watch. Great price and very knowledgeable and friendly staff. Highly recommend

Experiencia positiva: The seals are probably the best thing about visiting here, definitely worth visiting to see them alone when they get fed, as it's very lovely to watch and also educational, rest of the aquarium was fine, the underwater tunnel was quite enjoyable but apart from that was quite a standard aquarium with it getting a little crowded as there aren't too many exhibits for people to look at. the cafe was okay, little overpriced for what it was but the food wasn't bad

Experiencia fantástica: Great visit: everything was clean and working (except an exhibit they were working on in a big way) Everyone working was enthusiastic; the kids and adults were engaged. There were lots of additional activities which kept us very busy. A list of times for shows, talks, interactive elements, learning about and learning how to touch/handle creatures; and a special game/hunt for the (school) holidays with a reward. Even the adults had fun. It's in a lovely setting too; under the Forth Bridge, in the beautiful village of North Queensferry. Seals were fun; and it looked like they were having fun too!

Experiencia positiva: I remember going here as a kid and standing on the conveyor belt and being so blown away with the under water world. Here's what's changed. - the place itself feels run down. The conveyer no longer runs. The slope down doesn't play under water noises and whale songs just met by a couple of shark teeth coin turn toy machines. The tunnel tank was dirty. There are no touch pools, no octopus, no congar eels, no hairy hermit crabs. A whole room set up like a classroom with nothing but colouring in and a projection of cartoon undersea scene on the wall. The cafe and shop mark up of at least 250%. The cafe bag of chips was £4.50. A plastic shark grabber was £12. The seal display was brilliant and I wished I could see the seals from under the water. It wasn't the experience I'd hoped for but my kids still loved it, mostly because they love brightly lit gift shops, arcade and ride on toys . I was there with a discounted community bus trip otherwise I wouldn't have been able to afford to go. I hope it turns around, the staff were all brilliant.

Experiencia positiva: Great little aquarium. The tunnel is the best part and has a good sized gift shop

Experiencia fantástica: Had a day out to the centre with my wife and grandson. We were really pleased we had chosen this location as it was much better than I expected. This is a large site so give yourselves plenty time to see everything. There are a huge selection of fish from many parts of the world, not forgetting the large sharks. Every section has a description of what you are seeing - a great help for young ones. The extensive underwater tunnel section is awesome. We ate in the cafe area, visited the gift shop and found the staff helpful and knowledgeable.

Experiencia positiva: Fun day out with plenty to see. Sharks and Stingrays and other fish in the walk through are amazing. The seals outside are great. Make sure and pay attention to the leaflet with feeding times as the seals do a 'show ' and it's super - especially for the little ones. Good amount of other fish and sea creatures- sea horses are a highlight of mine, some other frogs, snakes etc. Decent small cafe and good souvenir shop for kids. Outside parking is plentiful and access from main roads is straightforward.

Experiencia fantástica: Love this place go all the time have a tunnel doesn’t always run as is a little old so they are always sure to ensure it’s safe great for all ages

Experiencia positiva: Visited here recently with my mum and my nana. It isn't the biggest of aquariums but still has a lot to look at. We really enjoyed the tunnel but it was a long walk to it with my nana and mum who both have mobility issues so we only went round once. The staff doing the talks were lovely and informative. Lots of veggie/vegan options in the cafe which is a bonus for me!

Experiencia fantástica: Bought this as part of the ScotRail kids go free offer. So £18 for me, an 11 year old and a 5 year old was real value for money. I love that the centre was right under the Forth Rail Bridge and walking down to North Queensferry was lovely. 11 year olds favourite part: The Stingrays. 5 year olds favourite part: the Seal Show.

Experiencia positiva: They have an offer on at the moment kids get in for £1 check online site for details. I really don't think it will last much longer, tbh as it's not what it used to be but if you haven't been, go if you have been go again help them out and help them stay open it's been going since I was a kids and I'm 43 years old now so be ashamed to see it closed.

Experiencia fantástica: Brought my grandparents to visit deep sea world and they had the most fantastic experience.

Unconscious Mum 11 months ago

Experiencia positiva: It's quite smaller than I remember. I think some attractions have been removed. We managed 1.5hrs at a reasonable pace and saw the seals being fed in their new purposed area. It's a really small area. There is a smelly gross pool area at the start that needs cleaning out and could be given to the seals, too. There's a few reasonably priced items in the gift shop. All in all, it's OK, but it needs an upgrade for sure.

Experiencia fantástica: A great place to visit for all ages and group size. Very interesting and beautiful animals on display. Definitely worth attending the various talks and feeds throughout the day Shaun was particularly knowledgeable and entertaining Ticket prices are fair, as are the prices of the cafe. If you drink coffee, absolutely get one from the cafe. It was fantastic! No need to rush around the exhibits, take your time and relax. Do a few laps and revisit sections for a very pleasant experience.

Experiencia fantástica: One of the most affordable sea aquarium. It’s not that big but so as its ticket price, does justice to the experience. They have kept lots of fishes but the biggest ones are sharks and they are so magnificent. Peaceful and looks directly into your eyes, makes you feel their presence, it’s beyond explaining in words.

Experiencia positiva: Truly a transformative experience, I've never been to an aquarium like it, don't think I ever will again. One of the most comprehensive detailed and fascinating tours I've ever been on hosted by the spectacular "Sean". He answered every question I had about the awesome not-dolphins at this aquarium and told me all the crazy stories about the "sharks" that haunt the water. Although he didn't quite convince me they exist, I was thoroughly entertained throughout. Incredible experience nothing could have made it better.

Experiencia positiva: A little disappointing considering the ticket price, although the tunnel with the rolling floor did improve my opinion. Unfortunately, the seal enclosure was closed as Mommy had recently given birth

Experiencia fantástica: Deep Sea was a fantastic outing with the family, offering an engaging and enjoyable experience for all ages. The variety of marine life on display was truly impressive, with a wide range of fish species from vibrant tropical fish to fascinating deep-sea creatures. The exhibits were well-organized and provided educational insights into the different species, which added an extra layer of interest to our visit. The venue itself is well-maintained, and the layout makes it easy to navigate, even during busy times. We found that two hours was the ideal amount of time to explore everything without feeling rushed. The environment was both relaxing and captivating, making it a perfect spot for a family day out. While the experience was largely positive, adding more interactive elements for children could make the visit even more engaging. A small café or snack area would also be a nice addition for those who want to extend their stay. Overall, I highly recommend Deep Sea for anyone interested in marine life or looking for an enjoyable, educational family outing. It's a great place to spend a couple of hours and create lasting memories.

Experiencia positiva: My daughter enjoyed it for a little bit, I think we spent about an hour going around everything and then ate. The cafe was nice but when we visited they were short staffed and running low on some things which made the menu limited. I don't think I'll go again, it really hasn't gotten any better since the last time I visited which would have been 15 years ago with my oldest. It has the potential to be better, and I hope it does.

Valerie Harrow 1 year ago

Experiencia positiva: Exciting for children going down in the tunnel and on the moving floor. Sharks and sting rays are a big draw for children but not a lot of variety in the tanks. Lots to see and the seals were our favourite. Gift shop was really expensive and we ended up not buying.

Experiencia positiva: Good place to visit especially with kids, easy access, free on site parking.
