Experiencia negativa: Wouldn’t give it 1 star. I was pointing at a butterfly to show my daughter and partner the colours of it and a member of staff was very rude about it saying don’t touch it. It’s how she said it We came out shortly after and another family came out and there child looked very upset at a point of crying because he done the same as I did and heard that same member of staff snatched the child hand away but didn’t do anything or say anything when disabled person did the same thing The member of staff was a young woman 20ish with a very shot blonde hair she’s need sacking it’s a butterfly wasn’t touching the fish

Experiencia fantástica: Great place for kids and families to spent time together.

Experiencia positiva: Great for kids and pram friendly. We went on a week day during the summer holidays and had to queue for about 15 minutes to get in. The annual pass is great value for money and also gives you additional discounts. It is a lot bigger than it looks from the outside and has many other animals apart from sea animals, I.e. monkeys, meerkats and the biggest butterflies I have ever seen! Would definitely recommend!

Experiencia positiva: Good value for days out with little ones - especially if you use the annual passes. We’ve been taking our son since he was 4 months old and it’s been great to see how his interest have changed over the 12 months. The food is ok - but really, you don’t go there for the food. All in all, would recommend if you live local and plan to visit a few times per year with kids.

Experiencia positiva: A mixed visit. Gaining entry seemed to take a very long time, and one particular staff member was very rude and abrupt. My 2 year old is tall for his age, and I was abruptly asked to stand him next to the penguin to check if he needed a ticket. We had to pay £20 entry for a 2 year old who was overwhelmed by some areas which are not at all child friendly (more on this later). We also had to pay £20 for our 6 year old - why on earth isn’t there a tiered pricing system in place?! We had our photos taken for the passes, and as I was struggling to keep my 2 year old still (he’d been waiting almost 20 minutes to get in!) the abrupt staff member insisted he must wear his wrist band on his left arm, despite me holding him in such a way that only his right arm was accessible. Nope, it had to be his left arm apparently. To avoid a tantrum I said he wouldn’t tolerate a wrist band anyway, and I was abruptly told that I would have to wear his wrist band. I did, but it’s a ridiculous and drawn out process to get inside! We enjoyed most of the aquarium section. However, the dinosaur section is so loud! My 2 year old (who we had just paid adult price for), was absolutely terrified. We had to rush him through. Just turn the volume down! He loves dinosaurs but the exhibit is far too overwhelming and noisy for toddlers! We were pleased see dairy free ice cream in the cafe, to suit our toddler’s allergies. Overall, we had a nice time but this could be so much better with some simple changes.

Experiencia fantástica: Great experience well took our two grandchildren aged 5 and 2. They really enjoyed it as did we. It was busy with pushchairs but with patience it gave you more time to enjoy the exhibits. Dinosaur area was very loud and may frighten some but that led through to the butterfly enclosure which was very good along with a fascinating leaf cutter ant pipeline ! Very clean and tidy and gave everyone a great insight to a hidden world.

Experiencia fantástica: I take my daughter atleast once a month as a years membership is only about £20 so really worth it! They have a great range of sea life on display aswell as some Monkeys, meerkats and tortoises, even dinosaurs! One of our favourite parts is the butterfly house with leaf cutter ants travelling around through tubes to their nest. The staff are all really lovely, polite and professional, the creatures look healthy and happy. Overall a really nice time to take your little ones. Would definitely recommend

Experiencia positiva: We had a really good trip here. Loved the fish and animals and the cafe is really good value. However they have a policy that children over 90cm need a full ticket. Not a kids ticket but a full price adult ticket! My two year old was very tired, in the pushchair, and the cashier insisted I get her out and make her stand next to the measure. She was screaming and crying and he still insisted. I got her out and she was clinging to me so was half hanging on to me when we tried to measure her. He said although she was on tip toes she was over 90cm and was charging us a full ticket. I thought the whole thing was disgraceful, traumatising my 2 Yr old and not having kids tickets.

Experiencia positiva: Come here all the time and generally it’s a nice experience, but today we got there at 4.03 and they wouldn’t let us in because last admission is at 4pm. It doesn’t take an hour to go round when you’re with a toddler and I get they have to draw the line somewhere but 3 minutes last No one else was behind us either

Experiencia fantástica: It is a nice small aquarium, not as busy as London aquarium, make it very toddler friendly. Nice inside, the kids can run around and explore. Not too big so the little ones doesn’t get bored in there.

Experiencia negativa: We recently visited Sea Life with our nursery children and their parents. Unfortunately, we experienced several issues that made our visit very difficult. We struggled for over an hour to obtain 7 additional tickets for the parents who were waiting to enter, which caused a great deal of frustration. During this time, the staff were unhelpful and, regrettably, quite rude. We felt let down by the lack of support and assistance. We are very disappointed with how the situation was handled, and we regret bringing our children and families, as we were not able to enjoy our time after making such an effort to travel there. We hope you take this feedback seriously and make improvements to ensure other visitors do not face the same challenges.

Experiencia fantástica: This amusement park is great for having fun with friends or family. There is a wide range of entertainment for the little ones to the big ones, food, ice cream and very friendly and fun staff. We highly recommend...

Experiencia negativa: Animals look malnourished. Penguins bathe in their own feces, animals live in environments which are too loud for children to stay in for longer than 2 minutes. Some monkeys were partially bold and looked very unhappy. The animals are neglected and have awful habitats.

Experiencia positiva: Enjoyable day out. Annual membership is only £2 more per person than single entry so worth considering. Cafe area has been expanded and uni sex toilets are now upstairs. There is a baby changing facility on the ground floor though.

Experiencia fantástica: I thought it was very good value and nicely laid out my grandson particularly enjoyed the domed Walkway with the rays and sharks. The annual pass is well worth it as it includes a discount for Adventure Island too.

Experiencia negativa: We visited Southend-on-Sea Sealife Adventure and found it to be a very short experience, taking less than an hour to complete. The exhibits were limited, and there wasn’t much to engage older children. It felt more like a quick walkthrough than a full attraction. Unfortunately, it didn’t feel worth the admission price. I would recommend reconsidering an annual pass!

Experiencia negativa: The aquarium is not autism-friendly, and staff need autism training. After two negative experiences, I feel compelled to share my concerns. Despite living over an hour away, we visit because my autistic daughter loves the aquarium, especially its seaside location. On our first visit, we arrived less than five minutes after the last admission time, but staff refused entry despite explaining my daughter's needs and the impact this would have on her day. Considering how quickly she explores the aquarium, we would have finished well before closing. Certain areas, like the dinosaur and butterfly exhibits, are not considerate of autistic needs. Staff witnessed her distress but offered no assistance. On a recent visit, the queue extended far outside the aquarium. Knowing my daughter struggles with queues, I asked if we could be seen sooner as she was becoming overwhelmed. Staff suggested one of us wait in line while the other walked around with her, assuming this would meet her needs. However, she just wanted to go inside. They refused any assistance until her meltdown escalated to screaming and self injury. Is this what it takes? It's easy for those without experience with autism to misunderstand, but Sea Life adventurers is a public attraction and NEEDS to put in place reasonable adjustments for children and adults with hidden disabilities.

Experiencia negativa: Southend’s sealife centre is always a fun thing to do with my little one, but today’s reception upon arrival was horrific! Despite various staff members and not many customers, there was a lengthy wait to get our wristbands. Upon showing my annual pass, the young lady that served me insisted that my child is too tall to go free. I advised that I didn’t agree, and then I was told to go and check (against the penguin!). My child is nowhere near as tall as the penguin, and I felt no checking was required, but I did so anyway at the cashier’s request. There was no apology from the young lady when she realised she was in fact incorrect, and her entire demeanour was simply “off”. It’s very clear to me when I have to deal with staff like her, where they actually make life more difficult for a parent/customer, (i.e. me who is juggling an impatient toddler whilst rifling through my purse looking for my annual pass, whilst contending with a ‘computer says no’ staff member), that they DON’T have kids, nor do they have a clue about customer service or making life easier for single parents!! We won’t return!

Experiencia positiva: £18 for my two year old! We were visiting the area for the day and popped in. I was annoyed that I had to pay full price for my two year old, just because we're a tall family. I was then told that a couple of areas were closed for renovation; as I'm reluctantly reaching down to the card machine. Would have been nice to see the renovation works advertised online, or even a small discount. My children are two and four and zoomed around within 30 minutes. At £72 for the four of us I made them do it again. The place was clean and tidy. I liked the season pass if I were local.

Experiencia fantástica: Lovely place, with great choice off fishes, sea life and animals. We truly enjoyed walking around as a family and seeing all that sea life had to offer. The souvenir shop and the cafe are a nice little bonus at the end of the tour. I would totally recommend this place and make sure you buy your annual tickets for £2 extra rather than the day pass.

Experiencia fantástica: You can tell the staff are very proud to be a part of sealife and i hope they know what such an amazing job they all do and so very welcoming friendly helpful and uplifting too. I was so very happy to see how well cared for and happy every single wonderful living creature was in their lovely snuggly habitats with so much facinating fun facts about them too. My son loved bringing home an array of sea creatures from the gift shop that we are crafting habitats for them and we have been learning so much from it along the way. So happy i chose to upgrade to the year pass only thing next time is inwont forget to bring bucket and spade because it is litually on the beach.

Experiencia fantástica: What a brilliant morning out, it's not only a very good aquarium with an under water tunnel and animal talks but it also features mammals, reptiles, butterfly house and a mini dinosaur animatronic experience. I attended with a 9 year old and 1 year old and they both thoroughly enjoyed it! I couldn't recommend it more, very good value for money! 5 star experience!

Experiencia fantástica: Sea Life Adventure is located in Essex. Sea Life Adventure is a great place to explore with the kids and family all year. It opens more than 360 days a year. Ticket charge is £16 for a person. But we can take an annual pass for £20 and we can unlimited visit for a year. Different kinds and species of fishes we can see there. And also penguins and Meerkat. We can spend time on the beach as well.

Experiencia fantástica: Just visited sealife and it was quite good. Paid for the day online, but was informed for an extra £4 I could have a annual pass, and with it you get unlimited trips to the aquarium plus 20% gift shop, the restaurant and entrance to the adventure island so I think it's worth it. Sealife isn't huge but it's big enough for the little ones which was the reason I came. Had plenty of different fishes, inside the aquarium, plus an outdoor area you can see monkeys, penguins, otters and many more. It was a weekday around 11am so I had plenty of parking spaces and apart from a few school trip kids it was quite calm and empty inside. If you have little kids I definitely recommend.

Experiencia positiva: It is a good place to visit. It only takes maximum of 3 hours to see everything. The animals seem to be well looked after. There is a reasonable variety. The gift shop is quite big and has a variety of reasonably priced souvenirs. Staff was very polite.

Experiencia positiva: An interesting selection of fish to look at. Didn't grip the kids like I thought it would though. The ocean tunnel was by far the best bit with Rays swimming over your head awesomely. A bit pricey for a one off visit. The annual pass is by far the best value if you can use it. Next door to beach.

Worth paying £2 extra an annual pass which also gives discount for food etc including in the adventure island. Big win for me was a good selection of gluten free options available on the menu which are carefully prepared separately this is usually so hard to find eating out especially in touristy places to a big thumbs up from me. Experiencia fantástica: This is a great place to bring kids. I always thought this was a tiny place until I came and it’s like Dr Who’ tardis in there, there’s so much to see! They have some interactive boards around that kids can get involved with and they even have monkeys here. There is a cafe inside which sells the usual stuff but as you would expect it’s a bit overpriced and if you walk in with food or drink purchased off site they will have a moan at you. If you come here often get a years pass.. it’s a no brainer and will save you a lot of money!

Experiencia negativa: Been here a few times with our 1 year old twins. On the most recent occasion we stopped in the cafe on the way out as they need high chairs. The twins were having some crisps as a snack and we were promptly pulled up by security and told they couldn’t eat them there with no justification. Me and my wife weren’t eating anything, it was just the kids. I could almost understand if there was a queue of paying customers but it was basically empty. Once again, I e the adults weren’t eating so all they did was kick 2 1 year olds out the restaurant. We will not be back.

Experiencia fantástica: We recently visited the Southend-on-Sea Sealife Centre, and it exceeded my expectations! The place was lots of fun, clean, and much bigger than expected. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making the experience even more enjoyable. Both the kids and I had a fantastic time exploring the exhibits. Highly recommend for a great day out!

Experiencia positiva: The Sealife Adventure is good, its not as big as you would expect. Your better off paying the extra money for a year its about £4 but brings the prices of food and drink down alot as the prices are so expensive. And the gift shop does not have much to do with the animas there.

Experiencia negativa: The downside of my visit was the cafe. After paying in the cafe for my own food and refreshments I was unable to give my children their own food despite them both having food allergies. I do understand the policy of not bringing in other food which is not part of their cafe but every table around also bought their own food in. We were the only table singled out by security staff who raised their voice and upset my 4 year old. Whilst I understand bringing in food to a cafe isn’t ideal there surely needs to be exceptions to people with allergies who cannot eat from the menu. Then to have security raise their voice and not allow us 5 mins to finish up wasn’t fair. Anyone who has children 4 and under knows that it’s a challenge leaving anywhere instantly. My advice would firstly be ensure security staff are reasonable and polite in future. Ensure the rules are consistent for all customers. And to have an allowance on people with food allergies in the cafe. Especially because we were paying customers of the cafe also.

Experiencia fantástica: Very interesting aquarium, good spread of exhibits, fish, eels, starfish, plenty to read and learn, food reasonably priced. Helpful staff. Parking expensive buts that is Southend Council. Got the yearly admission ticket only £2 extra, no brainer in this instance so we can go many more times for nearly free for a whole year

Experiencia fantástica: Took our 3yr old for his birthday. It's a really nice place to go. Has a nice blend of education and fun. For an area where a lot of businesses are closed, this is a highlight. Happy to keep visiting.

Experiencia fantástica: We wanted to take our toddler somewhere for the day and thought to try sealife Adventure. Wasn't expecting it to be so good and varied! There was an aquarium, zoo area with various animals and a butterfly house as well as dinosaur displays which she absolutely loved. They also have times throughout the day for animal talks and feeding sessions. I was surprised at the value of the annual pass (toddler is currently free as she's under 90cm but still well worth it if we paid for her pass too) you get discounts on other attractions, the gift shop and restaurant too which is brilliant. Gift shop could have been a little more exciting but all in all a wonderful day out and looking forward to returning.

Experiencia positiva: It's a great little centre. There's loads of really cool tanks with little waterfalls, and all kinds of marine and tropical fish. They also have a butterfly house, a bit with dinosaws that is brilliant, some giant turtles, monkeys, meerkats and even penguins. They also run these little talks for the penguins at intervals through the day. The only negative I had was that my partner got told off for taking a lunch box with food for the little ones while I was buying a tea. The signs do clearly state you can only consume food purchased on premises which I understand when you're trying to run a business but when you have a toddler and a young child and your food options are burger and chips it's a bit difficult to make them wait to eat their relatively healthy food while I drink my tea because we can't consume our own food at the table. This was especially frustrating when there were only us and one other person in the restaurant. They have some outside tables at the mid way round point which would suit us eating our own food but in the winter the tea shop wasn't open so I couldn't get my tea there. We'd have to eat in the cold and then get my tea to go from the restaurant. Besides that the rest of the staff and the overall experience was fantastic.

Experiencia fantástica: Charming little place with a very good experience for all ages interested in animals, a variety of critters all loveable and enjoyable to watch, with the added option of feeding some of them. We bought annual passes and visit every week, one of the best purchases we made. Also includes a discount to various extras.

Experiencia positiva: This a nice spot which can be navigated and experienced within 90-120 mins. I have visited this place numerous times over the years and have annual passes for my family. It's £18 for a single trip or £20 for an annual pass. They don't charge child/adult prices, it's based on the height. So my three year old being over 90cm would also be charged £18 (we opted for an annual). It's not the most feature rich place, but they pack in a lot for the price and I feel it's fairly priced. You start with the aquarium, move on outside to the monkeys and meerkats. The next area has robotic dinosaurs and then a butterfly farm and a tortoise room. The next step is penguins, a bunch of reclusive otters, two cages with more hidden animals and more sea life. Considering this is a "sealife" venue, it's nice to see land creatures. Parking is by the meter or app through Ringo at £3ph. Season ticket holds get a 10% saving in the sealife cafe and many other local food and drinks venues. I wouldn't travel across the country to visit here but, as we live 30 mins away and on a rainy day, this is a great spot for our children.

Experiencia positiva: Although I love this place and go here frequently I feel the fish and butterfly area is severely lacking. There are no real plants in the tanks which are surely vital for a healthy fish. The clown fish have overpopulated their tank and have killed all but one anenome. The butterfly area needs serious help you are lucky to see one butterfly and the variety is non existent. The animals seem to be well cared for so that's good.

Experiencia fantástica: Well what can I say, I've lived near and in Southend for years but this was my first visit. It was overdue. What a great place to visit, if you want to walk upto and even through the aquariums for close ups with the fish, walk through the butterfly room, watch the ants carry food, see penguins, otters, meerkats, tortoises monkeys. It is definitely a place to take your kids to see wildlife up close. They even put on events where you can hand feed the animals. Absolutely amazing. Don't forget the dinosaurs. They just need to fix the interactive question boards, they all seem to have a button problem.

As long as you leave your wristband on, you can re-enter as many times as you like. Disabled and baby changing toilets (unisex) are downstairs, upstairs are more unisex toilets. Gift shop fairly expensive, but as expected. Cafe food is ok.

Experiencia positiva: Been coming here for years with my little one. It’s such amazing value when you get the yearly pass! Lots to see and do inside, there’s even a dinosaur and tropical section! Staff are always really friendly and helpful even at the busiest of times. Cafe is not too bad either a good amount of choice too. Would highly recommend!

Experiencia positiva: Great attraction although a little on the small size. We were able to see all the animals and sections within 2 hours. A good variety of sea life to see. Children enjoyed it. Book online rather than at the gate as online tickets are £2 cheaper when we booked.

Experiencia positiva: It's a nice play to go that isn't too far to drive. I have been taking both of my daughters here from birth until now, and the eldest is 4. She still enjoys her time here. If we looked at everything at her speed, though, we would fly round the aquarium in about 20 minutes. It really doesn't take long. But if you can take your time, you could maybe make it last hour and a half. Nice restaurant inside, though. Decent food.

Experiencia positiva: Have an annual pass and we've lived on Canvey for 12 years and never been to sealife adventure. Visited today to entertain during school holidays. Half price entry with our annual pass. We had a great time. I would say you could do the whole thing in an hour. There are tables to eat outside (but still within the grounds). There is a restaurant inside and a hut outside that serves food and drink. My 4 yo and I ate lunch in the restaurant, chips were a disappointment, as they weren't "real" chips, probably frozen. But I wouldn't let this be a reason to not return. There is a car park right outside, but it's not owned by sealife place so you have to pay to park, at the time of writing, it's £3 per hour. Card or cash accepted. Or you can pay via an app, I think it was Ringo.

Experiencia positiva: Great place to take babies. Small enough to keep them entertained and not be so overwhelming and works in-between nap. Works out a better rate for a year pass. Downside is the parking price is worse than London. Would get 5 stars if they had a discount for paying customers.

Experiencia fantástica: My husband and I have got an annual pass each, so we only had to pay for our grandson on our recent visit. We really enjoy the aquariums, seeing something new on every visit.

Experiencia fantástica: A real educational treat for young children. We were amazed at the variety of animals. We had a fantastic and fun time, all for a small price, also with discounts. All very clean and well maintained, animals very happy. A must see.

Experiencia positiva: It’s a decent sea life wouldn’t say it’s the best one though. Don’t know why they have zoo animals when it’s called “SEA life”. Good place to take kids. Just hope they make the penguins enclosure bigger as there isn’t a lot of room for swimming and didn’t see any enrichment for them.

Experiencia positiva: My son loves this place, we storm around on our first lap. 2nd lap take more time enjoying the animals and 3rd lap we talk about all the animals. The staff always have time for my sons questions and always happily engage with his interests. We have an annual pass best and we it is well worth the money for any kids who love this type of activity.

I love the butterfly house and the ant tube display! You will not regret buying an annual pass as you definitely want to visit again.
