Experiencia fantástica: Great opportunity to see rescued Alaskan wildlife.

Experiencia fantástica: The Sea Life Center is a place of education, research and rehabilitation. It has the typical displays of aquatic animals, but it is geared towards educating the public about marine life and its importance. We spent about an hour and a half. My grandson loved the touch tanks and the staff was there to answer questions. The seals and sea lions are always entertaining. The amount of rehabilitating animals there is impressive. A wonderful facility in a small town.

Experiencia fantástica: We visited Anchorage in June, 2025 to participate in the Mayor’s Solstice Classic. We had a free day and decided to drive over 200 miles round trip out to Seward to the Sea Life Center. The amazing scenery along the way and the Highliner restaurant in Seward added to our awesome visit to this incredible Sea Life Center. Worth every mile and we actually saw a Mama Moose with babies, and a playful Mama Mountain Dall sheep and babies along our way.

Experiencia fantástica: I love coming here every time we are in Seward. It's spendy but remember you are helping with research and taking care out our sea life fe.

Experiencia positiva: We first saw the SeaLife center on Alaska animal rescue on Disney+. We were excited to visit. It was fun to see some of the animals from the show in person. The touch pools were so awesome, we spent lots of time there. Otherwise it was smaller than we thought and the price was a bit high since we were done in 1.5 hours. I appreciate their purpose though and enjoyed our visit overall.

Experiencia fantástica: This was a fun way to spend about 90 minutes of our day! We went in the afternoon around 4pm when it was much less busy than earlier in the day. What was great about going at this time is that at 5pm we got to see the puffins being fed! This was awesome especially because this was one of the animals we were most excited to see. We were told the lower underwater viewing of the feeding was the place to be. It didn't disappoint because we got to see lots of puffin action when they would dive for their food. Overall, a great way to spend some time in Seward. Very well put together SeaLife Center!

Experiencia fantástica: We recently visited the Seward SeaLife Center as a group of four, and we had a blast! The exhibits showcased a fantastic variety of marine life from Alaska, and it was so much fun to see the sea otters swimming around and the puffins up close. The highlight for all of us was definitely the interactive exhibits. We learned a lot from the friendly staff, who were more than happy to share interesting tidbits about the animals. The layout made it easy to explore together, and we enjoyed taking our time at each exhibit. While a couple of exhibits felt a bit smaller than expected, it didn’t take away from our experience. We left feeling inspired and with plenty of great photos! Definitely recommend it as a fun outing if you’re in Seward!

Experiencia fantástica: We had been on a wilderness boat tour couple days before. Now to see these animals here, up close and in their human built natural habitat was inspiring. Love the research, hands on learning, rescue. I was here 21 yrs ago with my kids- still going strong! Thank you!

Experiencia fantástica: Exceeded our expectations. We got to see the salmon being fed as well as the sea lion being fed. Our group of adults enjoyed ourselves like kids and learned a lot.

Experiencia positiva: This aquarium is on the small side and is quite pricey for the size. However, they feature multiple different animals, such as harbor seals, sea lions, jellyfish, etc. This aquarium also has a touch pool, with many different animals. For tickets, the price varies by hour. If you have time while in Seward, this aquarium is a nice place to spend an hour or two.

Karen Levosky 3 months ago

Experiencia positiva: Wasn’t my favorite aquarium. Takes about an hour. I would have rather spent my money on something else. A disappointment for the price.

Jannean Dixon, M.Ed. 3 months ago

Experiencia fantástica: Absolutely spectacular!!! It was a bit crowded when we visited, but the tickets were timed so I imagine that helps with the crowd. We saw so many incredible creatures and learned a lot. We found the staff friendly and knowledgeable. They loved sharing facts about the animals in their care.

Experiencia fantástica: Highlight for me was watching puffins SWIM IN THE WATER TANKS. So cool. Also enjoyed the seals and cute little giftshop. Lots to offer for folks of any age!

shanaena miller 3 months ago

Experiencia fantástica: I love visiting the aquarium not just because of the fascinating marine animals, but because it tells a much deeper story—one that’s rooted in Alaska’s history, its connection to the sea, and its ongoing commitment to protecting the natural world. The aquarium is like a living museum. It showcases the incredible biodiversity of Alaska’s waters, from sea otters and puffins to the mysterious deep-sea creatures. But what truly makes it meaningful to me is the role it plays in conservation and education. Many of the animals there have been rescued—injured, stranded, or orphaned—and the aquarium provides them with a second chance at life. Knowing that some of these animals wouldn’t have survived in the wild makes each encounter feel more significant. The exhibits don’t just show animals—they tell the story of how the ocean has shaped life in Alaska for generations.

Experiencia positiva: Great place to take the kids and experience the sea life. Only frustration for me was the price. It was a bit high for what you get. Loved the seals and sea lions, though.

Experiencia fantástica: Always a pleasure to visit and see all the animals there!!! Friendly and helpful staff! If you live within driving distance, do yourself a favor and get the yearly membership!!! It’s more than worth it!!!

Experiencia positiva: This place is fantastic for the whole family, with an amazing bird exhibit that truly stands out. I did deduct one star for the Marine Mammal Encounter, as it didn't offer much interaction and felt like a huge letdown. However, the rest of the exhibits are wonderful and you can easily spend hours enjoying them.

Experiencia fantástica: Worth the drive from Anchorage. All the employees were so nice, engaged, and happy doing their job. The sea life was great, entertaining, and appeared well cared for.

Experiencia fantástica: Learning about the types of ducks, stellar the sea lion swimming in rounds, touching sea anemone, shrimps etc is worth your time. Appreciating sealife, the Lake and Mountain view is what highlights Seward.

Alexandria Wenninger 8 months ago

Experiencia fantástica: On a whim my husband and I decided to make a trip from Anchorage to see the sea life center for a fun winter date. It was really nice coming in winter because it wasn't busy, we were able to take our time looking at all the critters. So many cool invertebrates, fish, birds, and even seals and sea lions. I really liked the hallway with the brittle and basket stars, and all the tanks with different sized young salmon. And all the flounder! So fun to watch how they swim, they were much more active than I would have expected. It took us about an hour and a half to go through. The only bummer is that all the lights were off inside the hospital area so we couldn't see inside through the viewing window, we were curious about the rehabilitation part but there wasn't much to view or read about that part of the sea life center. They did have some free seafood recipe pamphlets from the Alaska Seafood Institute too which was neat. They also had 3 different activity stations set up for kids so if you're looking for a fun activity for the family this would be a great place!

Experiencia fantástica: We visited in October on our honeymoon and enjoyed a bit more free space at about noon. This was a very nice aquatic center, with plenty of exabits to look at for several hours. The general areas and bathrooms were well cleaned. The gift shop was big and had a nice variety of merch to support the cause. Hope to be back one day!

Experiencia fantástica: This is an excellent place to take the little ones! There’s a must see observation deck in the second floor. The sea lion viewing tank is amazing! I’ve never seen a sea lion so big up close. I’d actually visit this place every time I venture to Seward. I also enjoyed having the opportunity to touch the starfish. There’s a lot of fun facts to learn here, and you should definitely check it out.

Jozef Watson 11 months ago

Experiencia fantástica: Had some time in the morning before we rode the bus out of town and decided to support this establishment. It isn't an overly large aquarium but it has a nice diversity of animals and is laid out in an easy to follow format. It would be a fun place to take the family for a few hours.

Ajinkya Deshpande 11 months ago

Experiencia fantástica: It's one of the must visit places in Seward. It's not huge and would not take a lot of time to see around, but there is a lot to learn about the conservation efforts underway. The people who work there are passionate about their work and are always willing to chat about what the center is working on. The bird enclosure is especially nice where you can get a closer look at puffins and other species of birds seen around the region.

Joseph Taboada 11 months ago

Experiencia positiva: Fun place but pricey. Nice tanks including touch tanks. Neat puffin exhibit. The seal and sealion are in small tanks viewed at a distance. The under water viewing is average

Experiencia fantástica: an institution — locals have been frequenting this place for generations. they do great work for the oceans, helping animals and releasing many back to the wild. educational on salmon, as well, with the tank that has swift currents like a river where you can see how the salmon swim up stream, as well as the life cycle of the salmon through many tanks of juvenile salmon. the birds are also great fun! puffins and other species!

Christopher Emmons 1 year ago

Experiencia fantástica: I was surprised how much I liked this place! I went here on the advice that if I wanted a sure fire way to see a puffin this was it. I was not expecting to only be 2 feet away from a puffin. They do have other marine animals too and interesting displays about the life of Salmon. I would highly recommend going here

Todd Robertson 1 year ago

Experiencia negativa: Cool place, but lighting was not turned in a lot of the building and many areas were already shut down for the season. I understand both things, just back off of the $35-$40 per person to get in during times like this perhaps.

Experiencia fantástica: Great opportunity to see lots of wild life up close. The center specifically goes out to help abandoned or injured sea creatures, so you can’t go wrong spending some money to support that cause. It was also very cool to see some of the animals swimming around, and some of the local birds like puffins from just a few feet away. Great for kids as well!

Experiencia fantástica: We love watching Alaska Animal Rescue on Disney+ and it was so amazing to finally visit! This was the perfect family activity for a rainy afternoon.

Experiencia fantástica: Located on the shores of Resurrection Bay. The aquarium is a premier rehabilitation Center for the sea life. They had lots of aquariums to see all species of fish.. Harbor seals, walrus, etc. My favorite exhibit was seeing the puffins! The facility has several levels so you can view the animals at top and also underwater in the basement area. They also have an exterior viewing platform that overlooks Resurrection Bay. Great place to visit on a rainy day. They did have a lovely gift shop and restrooms. It was nice that they had a free coat check when you entered. You can spend a little bit of time or a whole day there reading and seeing everything.. Great for all ages! They did have elevators for people with disabilities.

Experiencia fantástica: Our family of five, with kids in both high school and middle school, had an amazing time at the Alaska SeaLife Center in Seward. This place is a must-visit if you're in the area, especially if you’ve got curious minds in tow. The exhibits were not only educational but engaging enough to keep our teens interested, which is no small feat! I’m always planning our trips down to the last detail, and I’m glad we set aside 2 hrs for this waiting for our B&B to be read. The hands-on touch tanks were a big hit with the kids, and we all enjoyed learning about the local marine life—definitely some cool dinner conversation starters! The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, happy to answer all of our kids' endless questions. One tip: if you’re like me and enjoy packing your own meals, there’s a nice area outside where we had a picnic after our visit. It was a perfect way to relax and enjoy the view of Resurrection Bay. Just remember, you’re in Alaska, so plan for layers! All in all, the Alaska SeaLife Center is a fantastic spot for families, and it’s well worth the visit if you’re in Seward.

Experiencia fantástica: This was a really interesting place. It was very helpful to go to before our wildlife cruise, because we learned about the animals and knew what to look for BEFORE we went and saw them in the wild. I did not see any inhumane of questionable animal treatment, and loved that many of their animals are rescued. A major highlight was the touch tank. You can experience the feel of crabs, non-venomous urchins, anenome, shrimp, and sea stars. The employees were very strict with how to safely pet the animals to ensure they were not hurt. Also, one touch tank was clised off to give the animals a break from humans. Overall, this is a very informative and helpful experience that will make an Alaska trip much more enjoyable.

Experiencia fantástica: Thought of educational information in readable snippets. I just hope they really do release the animals after they’re better. I hated seeing the great big sea lion in enclosures that I’m sure is way too small for him.To be happy.

Experiencia positiva: The only complaint we had was the price of the tickets, other than that it was a fairly small aquarium but we absolutely loved watching the seals. The views are also amazing from the observation deck!

Michelle Wacker 1 year ago

Experiencia fantástica: What a fantastic aquarium! I especially love the area with the puffins. You can finally photograph one and watch them bathe themselves. I could have stayed there forever. The tanks were so clean. I was really impressed. The touch tanks were spectacular. Where else can you touch a shrimp So many beautiful sea stars and sea cucumbers to feel. Watching the sea lions swim was very beautiful. I also loved the red octopus. The staff are so kind and they answer all your questions. Another wonderful aspect is that they rehab and release some of the animals. I was hoping to see the Beluga Whale but it was released back into the wild. That is so cool!

TXun 1965 1 year ago

Experiencia fantástica: The Sea Life Center was the highlight of the town of Seward, along with the views. We enjoyed getting to see the puffins up close since they are hard to catch on film from a cruise. We also enjoyed being able to touch the starfish and other sea creatures.

Experiencia fantástica: We have loved going here for years, but especially love it now with our two year old. She asks to go every day! The touch tanks are such a special experience and the staff are all super helpful and kind. This is a must-see when you’re in Seward!

Experiencia fantástica: 2nd visit, last was 9years ago. The sea life center continues to impress. Great exhibits, including many touch tanks. Definitely a "Don't Miss" for aquarists and nature enthusiasts.

Anita Lindemann 1 year ago

Experiencia fantástica: Nice place, great gift shop. They have scheduled feedings for animals where staff interacts with them and answers questions. It was really busy due to a cruise ship being in Seward that day. The downstairs views of the tanks are really neat. Touch tanks and a few interactive things for kids do do besides just looking and reading.

K Wiker 1 year ago

Experiencia fantástica: Nice afternoon activity for the family, but on the pricey side $$$. The Sealife Center does a good job of showcasing its symbiotic relationship with local marine life - cohabitate not captivity. The seal pups are adorable and not to be missed. The petting pool was fun for everyone filled with starfish, sea urchins and more. The puffins were nice to watch, but on the smelly side. It’s a cute little place that can be done in under two hours.

Dylan Soo 1 year ago

Experiencia fantástica: If the weather isn't so good, this is a must do. If the weather is good this is also a must do! What an amazing attraction with plenty of information on the sea life in the area. No shortage of staff who can assist with facts and the interactive nature is good from babies to seniors!

Experiencia fantástica: While in town for a few days, we were able to visit the Center. We had a great time and were pleasantly surprised by all the animals and exhibits the Center had to offer. Deb Popson 1 year ago

Experiencia fantástica: Living in Florida with Seaworld just miles away, I'm not usually drawn to an aquarium. This trolley stop in Seward was a wonderful visit. A sanctuary for animals unable to, or not ready to, return to the wild, it was so fun to see the sea lions, reef animals in the tide pool and the fish enjoying the cold, Alaska water. The Center is also on the water, so it's a beautiful place to enjoy on a nice day.

BlackR65 1 year ago

Experiencia positiva: This SeaLife is totally overpriced for the amount of animals you can see. I would expect double of time to be spend there, instead it took as less than an hour to see everything. If the price would be around 10$ less, maybe it would be worth 5 stars

Kristen Butler 1 year ago

Experiencia fantástica: What a wonderful place! Our crew on a boat in Halibut Cove recommended it, saying she’s studying sealife in Fairbanks, and they take trips here. Seward is very small, so the Sealife Center is right in downtown, on the water. Parking was plentiful, even for our 24’ RV. The center is open and airy, and has plenty of things to do and see and learn about. We really enjoyed the touch tanks and the demos. The animals seemed really cared for. The gift shop has lots of neat and unique souvenirs as well.

Matty Speights 1 year ago

Experiencia fantástica: If you're reading this review, it's probably because you're contemplating a visit from the nearest major hub (Anchorage). Think no more!! Pack up the family and go!! The drive may seem long but it's worth it, beautiful trip and you never know what kind of wildlife or beautiful scenes you'll encounter aling the way. Just like anywhere you drive in Alaska, be sure to check the weather forecast ahead of time. Regarding the SeaLife Center itself, it isn't huge but it's well-maintained and has a big aquarium. The center takes in all kinds of disadvantaged sea animals (otters, seal pups... check their website for updates). Seward is a sleepy town with a lot of flair; make the journey and enjoy your trip!

Experiencia fantástica: This was a good choice to visit! The SeaLife Center is a very well put together facility with a wonderful collection of different animals. The set up is good for the large crowds that are attracted here. The exhibits are informative and cared for. The wildlife are beautiful and integrative. We really loved learning more about the wildlife we had been and would continue to see on our visit to Alaska. Being so popular we were happy to have had bought our tickets in advance and did not spend long in the line to enter.

Experiencia fantástica: This place is awesome! They’re doing timed entry tickets, and we showed up a couple minutes after our scheduled time and had zero wait to get in. It was really cool learning about the animals who live in Resurrection Bay and seeing the wildlife rescue facilities. We were able to watch a staff member do a training session with Pilot the Steller Sea Lion, and it was fun to see him wave and catch the fish. They had tons of people around to give information about the various animals and exhibits. It was really educational. I’m not a big bird fan, but the aviary was really cool. Highly recommend checking this place out if you’re in Seward for a couple days.

Experiencia fantástica: We went on a Monday afternoon in April. We had the place to ourselves. It was wonderful. The kids could explore without any wait. I can imagine on a busy day in the summer (especially if cruise ships are in) it may be crowded and a little tough to see all of the displays. All of the displays were intriguing and educational. We found it great to be able to see the sea lions, bird display and harbor seals from both above and below. Buying tickets online ahead of time made getting in even faster. Ticket prices were reasonable. It's nice to have military and local discounts.

Definitely worth a visit if you enjoy aquariums and conservation!

Experiencia fantástica: We visited here September. It's multi-level with many educational displays. Most of the operation is viewed from inside, so it's fine to visit on a rainy day. The best experience for our visit was the wildlife response tour led by staff that took us behind the scenes - we learned about the rescue and development work that is a significant part of this operation.

All tanks were extremely clean and the animals healthy. It was fun watching the seals, sea lions, puffins, eels, octopus. We were there for over 2.5 hours and wished we could have stayed longer but we had to hit the road. We highly recommend a visit! (Don't know why my phone camera turned the octopus purple. All the other animals in photos were their true colors.)

Experiencia fantástica: A fun and interesting place to visit while in Seward, AK especially if you are traveling with a group. Our group got a private class from an expert on lives of the various kinds of puffins living in the area. Puffins are so cute that everyone wants one and at the SeaLife Center you get a chance to get up front and personal with these amazing birds (don’t touch of course). Here is an excellent opportunity to get close to puffins for pictures and to observe their behaviors. Of course there are many other birds, mammals and fish to observe.

Experiencia fantástica: The place is amazing for kids and adults, learn a lot of marine animals, touch some anemones, sea a great variety of animals upfront. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable and helpful. Also offers some great views to the resurrection bay.
