The fish arrived healthy, well-fed, and even ate right away, which is often a challenge with this species. This was my first order from Pete’s, and it definitely won’t be my last. Experiencia negativa: For anyone considering purchasing a fish from here, I suggest you look elsewhere. We have ordered from here three times, and the fish we got all three times have had severe ick and have died. The packaging of the fish from the initial shipments we received was great, and this gave us hope that the fish would be healthy, but this wasn’t the case. When confronting the head of the online sales manager, he acted in disbelief that the fish was sick with ick, stating that they had NEVER had ick. Then, as the conversation continued, he said he would discount our next purchase. The lack of accountability and responsibility to properly care for the fish was disgraceful. Save yourself time and money with a company that actually cares for the fish and is not just about making money off of them!!!

Experiencia fantástica: Purchased a marbled cat shark and banded bamboo shark for Pete’s. Had an issue with the marbled cat shark and Pete went above and beyond my expectations in solving it! My sharks arrived alive and kicking! My bamboo shark is a tank! He’s eating everything I throw at him as well as vitamin supplements! My marbled cat shark is young and healthy! He’s got a healthy appetite and spunky personality! Pete and his staff are very helpful! I will definitely purchase more in the future!

Experiencia fantástica: Best fish selection and best advice. I ordered some high maintenance fish and they died but Mike gave me new fish and advice on how to quarantine them. He told me what I had done wrong and worked with me to get the new fish acclimated and past the stages of parasites that come along with transition stress into a new tank. It took 3 tries and I don’t expect him to keep sending fish at no cost so we worked together. The advice was mostly what I needed. Most fish have parasites already but their stress in the transition weakens their ability to fight them so it’s common for them to get sick after arrival. I have a Copperband Butterfly and a Red Sailfin Tang that are doing very since Thanksgiving. Mike knows the challenges of fish getting sick in the process of moving and he pays attention to stormy weather when shipments could be delayed. Packaging is the best I’ve seen and even includes heat warmers for shipments I got in the winter. Nice to talk to and works together to make both sides happy. It’s a tough business to be in and I’m glad to find them. My local store doesn’t have much for cool fish so I went to the internet. My experience here has been so awesome I think I might go on the website now and see what is in stock. A few things I learned from him was use Copper power and not coppermine. Coppermine was way to strong and ate the meat off the fish with the dosage written on the box. Mike asked me a few questions and told me what to do. I had succeeded on the 3rd try with his advice. Later on, I saw a white dot on the tail of these two fish. He said to get a blue streak cleaner wrasse and skunk cleaner shrimp. I had the wrasse in a smaller tank so I put that in and got 2 skunk cleaners. I was ready to throw in the hat but now I finally come home to no issues in my beautiful tank. It’s been stable for several months now and seems like a good echo system.

Experiencia positiva: Stopped into Pete’s after finding them online. The staff there is very knowledgeable and friendly. All of the fish in the store are healthy and ready to be sold. I just wish they had more of a freshwater selection. However, if you are into the saltwater side of things, you definitely want to stop by. It is definitely worth stopping in and browsing.

When I expressed my displeasure he was rude and told me if I wanted premium work I needed to pay a premium price. After messing up my tank he took the $600 deposit and never came back. Someone else finished the work. I’ll never set foot in his store again. He’s a snake oil salesman. Be cautious. Attached is a pic of what he left my house like a few days before Christmas.

I went in and saw small Angelfish for $20 plus, for that price I can get the large Angelfish at Pet supplies plus for $19. They have the large ones at $49 totally ridiculous. Really nice selection of fish you can most the time only ever see in pictures. Pete himself and his worker were extremely personable and knowledgeable. Brought my little girl with me and she was in paradise. He had sharks, octopus, a huge 19 year old grouper, and best of all his tanks were clean, and his fish were beautiful. Experiencia negativa: I ordered 2 Engineer Gobies from ole Pete that were supposed to be 4.5-6". I paid over $50 a piece which I considered fair due to their size. When they arrived, they were not even 2". Every site I visited, Gobies that small go for $13. I have emailed and even tried calling with no response. Do not buy from this store, he is not trustworthy.

I'm experienced with octopus keeping and was excited to see Pete's had a Caribbean reef octo. Other than paypal issues once the payment went therw received my octopus in healthy and strong condition. It's been 2 weeks and my octopus names "smaug" he is eating everyday fresh water snails, Cortez hermit crabs and Red claw crab . Octopus was no bigger than 4 inches. Excited I had gotten a young one. Looking forward to purching coral and a lionfish in the future for my other tanks. Again great experience.

Experiencia fantástica: Drove by 1st time there last week, an impressive, healthy selection of both fresh and saltwater fish plus exotic species of all sorts, the place has more tanks than you think for its size. Everything alive in there looked plump and vibrant. My kids loved the giant grouper and an amazing shark tank. I came to buy corals, though there wasn't much selection, Pete cut me a couple of frags and they are happy and healthy at home so far. Avoid Petco, go here for fish and invertebrates. Will definitely go back, cool guy, he runs a nice store, and was courteous to the fam-look foward to get more corals and stuff for my reef tanks soon, thanks!

Experiencia negativa: Ive recieved two fish from this store, granted they were beautiful...but they lioked to be starving, you could see the fishes bone structure. That being said he replaced the first fish after it died....the second mind you he tried pushing that my tank had issues....stating my .026 salt level was way to high and needed to be at 1.023 (need to learn about your salt) and my ph was way to low mine 8.0 he said it need to be at 8.3.....that wont kill a fish.. nitrate 20 he said needs to be 0....funny im running 3 triggers and two tangs.... no problems. Nitrite 0. Then i told him my tank is dosed with copper in which i told him its at .25 and he said thats close enough. Then after following his procedures for migrating the fish, he states that i did it wrong and that i practically need to hook the bag up to an iv. Again beautiful fish just they dont look like they are taken care of. Again this fish was a very very finicky fish....and look how disrespectful this guy is... lol

He was with me for months in my quest to acquire 2 Golden Angelfish, He kept in touch with me since before Christmas and let me know when fish are available. Michael is very accommodating with much attention to detail. I am handicapped so Michael shipped my fish when my Aquarium Maintenance Person was available to help me, Fish arrived very well packed and are very healthy. Experiencia negativa: So I had purchased a Sailfin online and was in communication with them the day my fish was suppose to arrive. First time buying a fish online and let me say, I’ll never do it again. When the fish arrived I acclimated it appropriately just like I have done with all of my other fish. After I released it to the tank I noticed that it was extremely thin. So much so you could see it’s bones clearly through its skin. It was highly stressed and stayed in a corner. Explored a tiny bit but that was it. Wouldn’t eat but a bite then just stopped altogether. Next day it was clear the fish wasn’t going to survive and over night it indeed died. I sent the photos to the merchant per policy and asked for a refund. When I gave them a call to let them know what had happened they said they would send me a new fish without having to pay the shipping fee again. When the new fish arrived it was the same. Extremely thin and secluded to a corner. And again poor thing died. I had sent the photos to them again and again I called. During this conversation is when everything went south for me and though I wasn’t sure if I wanted to try for another fish later down the road, this made my mind up for me. My water is perfect. We test it regularly. He was saying that everything was wrong and it shouldn’t be what it is. If my water was bad my shoulder tang and flame fin tang would be the first to start acting crazy and have issues. He then tried to say we couldn’t get a refund because we didn’t qualify and then I stated the policy back to him then he said fine but not the shipping. Be careful because if you don’t know what your water is suppose to be at and or the policy they will try to keep your money even though they are sending fish that are clearly not healthy and blame you for it not surviving.

Experiencia fantástica: One night I had did a Google search for a desjardini sailfin came across Pete's aquarium. I had been shopping around my local fish stores in Delaware looking for desjardini sailfin and kept coming up short. I have never had a fish shipped directly to house and was nervous about how it would handle being transported. That same night, I made a phone call to petes and asked about the shipping. They said they guarantee the fish 7 days after arrival which was a huge relief. I then made the purchase online that night. They contacted me and said they would be holding the fish until the following week due a snow storm and freezing weather coming. When it arrived, my jaw dropped and I was completely speechless. It was the most beautiful sailfin I have ever seen!! Very healthy with no signs of disease or parasite. It was even eating a few hours after it was acclimated. I did not expect this fish to be as beautiful as it is for the price I paid honestly. The fish was packaged safely and secure with warmers and insulation inside a styrofoam box. Unbelievable fish with some very great customer service which makes this a easy 5 star review!! I highly recommend this place and will definitely be doing more business with them in future!

Experiencia negativa: Pete's has friendly staff and decent variety of inventory. We have visited several times over the past couple of years and have even made a few purchases. Unfortunately during our last visit, every salt water system had several very sick and several dead specimens. The strange thing is during that visit the employees were unpacking dozens of new specimens for inventory and acclimating those new fish via drip lines from the sick displays. I only give 2 stars because of the lack of care observed in this single visit of existing inventory and disregard for safety of new stock integration. I do like Pete's but the staff needs proper updated training and the system needs a major overhaul. If they can get it together I will continue to shop there and I am willing to retract this review for a more positive one. There are not many of these places left and want them to succeed in the industry. Clean it up Pete's.

Experiencia negativa: I am a coral reef hobbyists going on 15 years now, I bought a blonde naso tang from Pete's in early july, it died within a couple of days... the fish didn't look all that upon delivery. I called and explained everything with pictures. The owner was nice and all and said no problem with a replacement. It's now September and still no Fish. I even bought a copperband because I was getting charged a shipping fee for the naso which I was ok with. The copperband that arrived was TINY(Slightly bigger than a quarter) it died in a couple of hrs...I didn't even mention this because I know I won't ever purchase from here because they fail to do the right thing. Still waiting on a call or email with no hopes up. Stay away from here unless you're walking in and seeing the livestock in person.

I live in upstate NY where it is very cold in the winter, and Pete packed him very securely, also taking care in adding multiple heat packs. Experiencia fantástica: I'm spending a lot of time at home during the lockdown, so I thought it was time to add an adult Imperator Angel to my FOWLR tank. My favorite reef store near Colorado Springs where I live was having a hard time getting one in during the lockdown, so I did an internet search and called Pete's Aquariums. The super nice guy--I think he was the owner--picked up the phone and described to me exactly what he had in terms of stock and how long he'd had each angel. I was looking for a 4" (medium), but the smallest he had was a 6" (large), so he charged me for just the price of a medium. Free shipping too. I thought "This is great!" What was even better was when my doorbell rang, it arrived in perfect condition 2nd-day FedEx in a 25-degree Colorado blizzard from NY. It was superbly packed in 5 layers of plastic bags, probably 2-gallons of water, inside a custom-formed styrofoam shell. The water temperature had only dropped to about 69 degrees. The angel was actively swimming around inside the plastic bag, not lethargic at all. Not only was it healthy (over 1" thick, clear eyes), I would say it was 7" long. To get a show-size Emperor with full-adult colors for less than 300 shipped--couldn't beat it! It's doing great, eating everything in sight. It's also rearranging my tank to it's liking, which may sound bad but, to me, that's very good, as that shows its freely adapting to the surroundings of the tank. My show Naso Tang and other smaller fishes know who's the boss. It's a tough fish to keep, and you need to know what you're doing with such an exquisite marine animal. Now I get to watch all my fish suffer and die. Amazing how one bad purchase can destroy a tank. Save yourself the headache and money. Pete this is the first review I have made and did not do it lightly. I would never place another one of your fish in my tank. Your suggestion that I am looking for "Google points" only proves your arrogance and lack of attention to detail. Your lack of attention has also just about killed every fish I have. Blame the customer all you want. DON'T BUY FISH FROM HERE!!

Experiencia negativa: Really good selection, stopped in twice. Second visit, we came across a very cool looking shark pup and asked what price it was and was told $80 by the lady. Pretty nice, but needed to think for 20 minutes or so to make sure we could commit to owning a creature that might live 10+ years, so we left to discuss it. Came back in the shop ready to purchase and was told the same animal was $150 now instead! No thank you, unfortunately their survival rate at that size isn't too great especially because it was not eating yet, was willing to spend the 90 to take the chance but changing the price like that is not very good business tactics. Disappointed and unfortunately might not be back :(

Experiencia positiva: There was a nice selection of saltwater fish and a more smaller section of freshwater. Since my family has a freshwater tank we decided to stop by. Buying freshwater fish from here was a terrible choice since they all got sick and died within a month. You'll find 20 fish in measly small tanks and it looks very stressful for them. Not coming here again.

I have dealt with many other people in the past when buying my fish but I have never had the success I have now since I have been buying from Pete. His fish are all very healthy and I have never lost one. Not to mention his prices are very fair . Highly recommended A++

Experiencia negativa: Pulled up with open sign lite up, door and online says closes at 8pm. Started walking up. They locked the door and turned off light after we watched someone walk in. Drove 20mins due to seeing good reviews but dont think we will be coming back.

Experiencia positiva: Never been here before. Was driving in the area and had time to kill so I stopped. Has both fresh and saltwater. The people were very friendly and knowledgeable. All of the fish looked very healthy and the corals looked good as well. Prices were alittle high but for a small place it's what you expect. Couple negatives is that the tanks need more lighting. It's hard to see what's in alot of the tanks. Other negative is that there was aptasia on almost every rock.I didnt look at the fresh water stuff but looked okay from a distance. I may come back to get a fish but not for rock or corals until I no longer see the aptasia.
