Didn't really feel impressed with the selection when I walked in, figured there would be more fish but it was a lot of accessories. Wouldn't come back just going off of friendliness of staff. You aren't doing something right just because you replied to my review saying you are. Honestly just sounded like you needed to make yourselves feel better by responding the way you did. Even more unprofessional and certainly won't be coming back after that. Best luck that you get more years out of a failing business. Crapping on your buyer reviews doesn't help ya. Especially when all your bad reviews are pretty much all the same! Guess you should work on fixing what they're complaining about and you wouldn't get more of them. Asking your staff/customers to heart react good reviews after receiving bad ones isn't a good look either.

Much of the space is accessories etc, not fish tanks. But the price for plants was probably 20% less than Petsmart though the variety of freshwater fish and plants is less than name brand stores. Good for a visit.

Their fish are very healthy and active and they take good care of their bettas, their selection is larger in saltwater with more variety there than freshwater. I bought 2 albino Cory I was hoping to get a sterbai they had which was lonely but it was 30 dollars for one big one that was a little upsetting other than that this store is great, doesn’t smell like fish, most fish are in great shape, prices may range as some fish are cheaper than other places while some aren’t, nothing really unfair, other than the Cory I wanted. Will try to comeback when they add have some more stock in freshwater. Thanks again.

My recent experience was incredibly disappointing (not that the previous ones were pleasant), and it's clear why some small local fish stores struggle to stay afloat. Customer relations and service are crucial, but sadly, this place falls short on both. The owner, Bill, has more than 50 years of experience keeping fish and even designed a number of products aquarium and pond keepers use daily. At this store you can get parts for a filter or an entire fish room, have a pond or large air pump repaired, and access decades of knowledge and experience. As an aquarist with more than 30 years of experience myself, I've watched as small stores like this slowly disappear in favor of big-box disposable aquarium culture. I run a fish room with upwards of 30 tanks and have several back yard ponds. This store is where I go for parts and equipment, plus knowledge of anything saltwater or reef related. I also go here for any aquarium medications I might need, as its one of the few stores still licensed to distribute actual mediations (not just herbal remedies). Experiencia positiva: Our experience was fine. We were excited to start our new pond, while also supporting a small business. An employee found us and asked what we needed. He gave us some information, and helped but wasn't overly personable. I asked if he had any advice/tips/tricks for newbies starting their first pond and he said he had none. He did help us pick out bacteria and water conditioner. We were excited and were willing to spend much more on supplies, plants etc than we actually did at the store. So in that aspect it was a little disappointing.

Experiencia negativa: DO NOT BUY FISH HERE! We purchased 3 fish here and immediately noticed that they had fungus on their eyes and fins after putting them in our tank. The store is so dark, we couldn't see it when purchasing the fish. One of the fish died less than 24 hours later. We went back to the store and who we are assuming is the owner (Bill), became very nasty and defensive and refused to give us a refund. He was even rude to my 12 year old. He insulted the fungal medicine we use even though the same medicine was for sale in his store. Fish don't develop fungus instantly and die less than 24 hours later. We have a 135 gallon tank and fish that we have had for over 20 years. I am just hoping that this doesn't kill all of our fish. If this were a reputable store, they would have tried to make this right.

Experiencia fantástica: This is a great store. Well stocked with healthy, beautiful, happy fish. I bought 2 Gold Gouramis 11/03/21 and 2 Corydoras. I went back 11/9 and bought 3 more Corydoras, an Amazon plant, a rock and a aquarium glass scraper/cleaner thing on a handle. The fish are fat , shiny and feeling good. The plant is alive with new growth, the glass is clean and the fish like the cool black and white striped rock. The male gourami is Dr.Perry and the female Goldenscents. She was beating him up so he got his own tank and she got an Electric Blue Acaro named Eddie Acaro as a tank mate, along with the Corys. They all are happy now. The Gold Gouramis are the prettiest Gouramis!! The man running the store is a great guy, very kind , nice and knows a lot. I appreciate his knowledge and healthy fish.

Two weeks after I purchased my plants, they were flowering in my tank. For a hobbyist, I was stoked that my plants were flourishing, healthy, and excited that I was getting a great biological balance for my fish, etc. Aquatic Creations Ltd is a great store that is filled with healthy, colorful fish, both freshwater, as well as salt water. One other wonderful feature is a section on ponds, pond plants, etc. The owner is friendly, knowledgeable and quite informative towards the care and upkeep of your fish. I will be a repeat customer!!!

Store owner would not let me in the store because I was with my well-behaved child. Told me no one is allowed in under 15 and I need to read the sign on the door. Told him that was ridiculous it’s a fish store. His response was he has to protect his business. Last time I checked their are no terrorist groups of children in Urbana. This guy is crazy. No wonder the parking lot is always empty. DON’T SHOP HERE!!

Experiencia negativa: I never write reviews, but my child is 110% crazy about his 70 and 90 gallon aquariums and is not even allowed to step foot in this store..my wife and I tried to go and we read the no children sign, but we were sure that it was no unattended children. No we were wrong. When we walked in we were screamed at by the owner that he needed to leave..my son was super upset and it took us over an hour to calm him down and explain he was not allowed in the store because he was a kid.. Sad because from what we saw the store looked super nice. Thanks again.

Experiencia fantástica: Definitely appreciated this shop: I bought 6x Glowlight Tetra and 1x Dwarf Gourami from this place. The glowlight tetra were very fairly priced, i believe around 2-3 dollars a fish. The dwarf goirami was a little pricier for a single fish, about 12 i think for a single fish. However i felt inclined to get it as i saw in comparison to some other shops in frederick county, the fish were generally in better condition, with less crowded tanks. I also bought a java fern feen plant for about 6-7 dollars if i recall correctly and I am happy to report after about 2 months of care it has been growing well, despite the particular plant i was given having a covering of hair algae on some of the leaves i was given. In general most of the aquatic plants, particularly the amazon swords were in good condition. The shop during quarantine had unconventional rules, but they’re really easy enough to follow. As advised at the front of the store, you can expect to wait a couple minutes as customers are allowed in 15 or so minute intervals to enter the store. I waited maybe 7 minutes and had no other problems navigating the store once in there. While not what i was there for, i also noted a fairly well maintained, if plain koi pond with impressive and large specimens. There was a substantial saltwater section with the same lack of overcrowding i noticed in the freshwater tanks. And i noted an interesting placement of the popular but unfortunately often mistreated single/double-tail goldfish in a hidden corner tank of the store. This is to say, i believe a good amount of thought from someone knowledgable or passionate about fish-keeping was put into the layout. My only problem in terms of the fish in stock was probably the betta section, which featured permanent and filtered, but very small enclosures for the bettas, that seemed to have transparent walls between them. The bettas looked in well enough condtion, and this type of small enclosure is often an unfortunaye necessity for smaller shops, but the housing could definitely be better, and i worry the bettas might upon further examination be, be undergoing a certain level of stress, and/or may be susceptible to unwanted sickliness. Overall i much like this shop. I will likely be visiting again soon to pick up new plants, snails, or perhaps another schooling species for my 30 gallon tank.

It's evident whenever I visit that the stock is well cared-for, and all the fish and inverts that I have bought from here have thrived in my aquarium. The owner is particular about the quality of the tanks and supplies he sells, which I appreciate. I felt comfortable buying my upgraded 60 gallon tank from here, knowing that the shop stands behind what it sells. Aquatic Creations also takes the Covid pandemic seriously, which is an added bonus.

Experiencia fantástica: I have been a client at Aquatic Creations for a decade. I normally do not post but want to stand up for this establishment. Covid is causing havoc to small businesses. I know the owner of this establishment and he wants to be able to help everyone while keeping everyone safe. I understand some may not like the policy but it is necessary. Aquatic Creations is there to help anyone that is looking to enjoy the hobby. I would strongly recommend them to anybody looking to get into the hobby or those that have lots of experience. It is definitely the most knowledgeable staff in the area, with a good selection and reasonable prices.

Experiencia negativa: This store is down the road from me and we decided to go there today to purchase fish for an aquarium we gifted our son. The rules, which are posted outside stated no children under 15. I went in to ask if I could bring my son in as he wanted to pick out his fish. I walked in and walked around the store and no one was there. As I started to leave the gentleman came out from the back and I proceeded to ask if my son could come in and pick out his fish. Mind you the store was completely empty. He said no. I thanked him and left knowing I would never return nor contemplate doing business there ever. Instead we went to Rick’s Fish and Pets and spent $275 there. How aquatic creations will survive with such service and indifference towards customers is beyond me. Ironically, when you look at their website they go on about wanting to provide the best service to attract people to the hobby as well as keep people in the hobby. The real experience itself accomplishes the exact opposite of that.

The marine fish selection was of decent variety and the corals/tanks looked well kept at a glance. I'm only writing this review because I read the recent negative reviews on rude employees. I admit I got in and out quick after reading them and did not spend the time here I would of liked to and I probably would of bought a few frags if I wasn't rushing myself. The employee was not rude he offered to help me and i told him what I was there to buy and he showed me the fish I bought them and got out.

Experiencia negativa: I visited the aquarium today with my brother and it took 30 minutes to arrive. When we got there we had to wait 15 minutes because the store only allows two families at once. Although no one was in the store the guy informed us when we finally walked in. He then proceeded to ask me what I was looking to purchase and I told him nothing in particular yet just looking around. He then questioned if I even had an aquarium (which I do) . He then told me that "Im not allowed to freely stroll around the store when I want because of COVID." We found it very insulting since we did not know yet what we wanted to purchase because we weren't allowed to browse the store. We polity left right after and said thank you even though I was looking to add a new tank mate. We also are both over 18 which the rules state you must be 15 and over.

Experiencia fantástica: Absolutely amazing! I moved from Maryland to Washington State and they helped me box up my fish so that they were able to survive the trip. Very knowledgable and kind people. My fish made the trip with no complications and are as happy as can be! Absolutely wonderful establishment with even better people. If you ever need anything fish related I recommend this place as the best around!
