Experiencia negativa: TERRIBLE FISH STORE!!!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!!! Their feeder fish have raging ICK . When I went in there, they never once asked me if I needed help . Maybe because my boyfriend, I , and our friend are young , they thought we wouldnt be spending a good amount of money , so we weren’t worth the time. An older gentleman came in a little bit after us and the employee immediately greeted them, started having a conversation with them, and walking around the store with him. There were dead fish in all of the tanks, but when we walked in the employee was just sitting behind the counter. They keep huge fish such as koi in tiny tanks . There was about an 18 inch tank , with not ONE BUT TWO 16 inch koi . When I asked an employee about situation at these poor fish are in , he very nonchalantly , barely looking up from the tank, he had his hand in said “ Yeah, we take in surrenders, so they’re from that” . That told me all I needed to know about that fish store . Why do you feel it’s appropriate to take in surrenders, when you do not have an adequate set up for these living breathing animals??!?! This is the same Fish husbandry you are teaching your clients. THIS STORE IS NO BETTER THAN THE CHAIN STORES , DO NOT SHOP HERE AND SUPPORT THIS ‼️‼️‼️

Experiencia fantástica: WONDERFUL and RESPONSIBLE Aquarium Store. Fishy Business is absolutely wonderful. I have not had a fish tank for about 25 years. My last fish tank was salt water and this time I wanted to have a freshwater tank with an amazing hardscape and live plants. I went in and met the owner, Rich. I also met John and Bob. I explained how long it had been since I had a tank and that I wanted to start a freshwater tank and do so responsibly so that I would not harm the fish. All three gentlemen helped me every step of the way, from starting to cycling through to prepare it for the fish. Now I am able to purchase my new fish. The process took a while, but it was worth the wait and effort I put into everything. I also liked that they had me bring in my water samples so they could check them before selling me any fish. They also answered all of my questions anytime I reached out. They have been amazing and responsible in ensuring that if you buy fish from them, they are going to make sure that you know what you’re doing. I am also going to start a smaller 5 gallon tank with one betta. Highly recommend!!

Experiencia negativa: I’ve been a hobbyist for quite some time. If you’ve ever visited this store, you’ll know that they have a system where you “buy” a 5 gallon container for the RO water that the store sells. The first purchase is the cost of the container, plus the price of the water. When you come back for more water, you bring the empty container with you, and trade it for a container full of water. After the initial purchase of the container, you are only trading containers and paying for water. The price of the container is paid back to you in store credit, should you ever surrender the container back to the store. That being said, around 15 years ago, I decided to get some water from Fishy Business. I had two containers that I had purchased, and happened to have two five gallon buckets with lids. I brought all 4 to the store. I went inside and traded my empty containers for two full ones, which I went to my vehicle and poured into the 5 gallons buckets. I then went back into the store to trade my empty containers for two new ones full of water. There was a man by the name of Richard, who I believe was the store owner. He had a fit that I had done this, and was quite rude about it. Not sure why it was such an issue, but it cost him a customer that day and thousands in revenue over the years. Just goes to show what a poor attitude can cost.

I was brand new to aquariums, and they got me set up with a 29 gallon tank, helped me get it through its nitrogen cycle, andselect fish that won't kill each other (really, though!). I've seen reviews that mention that the staff can be condescending or rude. I have been in over 5 times, and I have never had anything but a positive experience. This is a small business run by 3 guys, and it can get busy. If you are friendly and patient, they will be too. Don't let those negative reviews stop you from visiting the best aquarium store in the local area. And support small business!

Experiencia positiva: I've bought fish from this place for decades back as far as when they were in Altamonte near Goodings. Rich was always a great resource. They were great for salt water fish back in the day. Now they deal all freshwater like most others. Just the way the industry/hobby went. The new folks seem to know what they're doing. I recently got two Otocinclus catfish. They were the only store in the area that had them. They are usually not the cheapest but they have better quality fish that are always healthy so you pay for that. My 2 fish adapted quickly to my small tank and went to eating algae within minutes of be set loose.

Experiencia fantástica: This is one of the better fish stores in the area. They strictly have freshwater fish. Their selection of fish is pretty decent. It's probably the largest in the immediate area. As far as aquascaping goes, this is not really the place. I don't think they really carry much as far as that goes. Maybe a few plants but not really any hardscape products. Not really much equipment either. Pretty much just fish, but a good selection. Service is good here as well.

Experiencia negativa: As long as Rich, the owner, is running the place we will NOT be stepping foot into Fishy business in Longwood again. Today's experience was the straw that broke the camel's back. I can only handle being treated in a condescending, misogynistic manner so many times. Rich, today you called me a liar in front of my daughter, your employees and your customers. When I came in this morning you told me I could return a fish that was being aggressive with my other fish I bought from you. We talked in detail. Then when I came back with it you said I didn't buy the fish from your store, that it wasn't worth the price I know we paid for it, (only gave a $3 credit), and then you said it was called a different name than what was labeled on the tank when we bought it. My daughter was with me when I bought it and she even remembered the name and price. The ONLY reason we've been coming back over the years is because of two of your younger gentlemen employees who have always been incredibly kind, humble, knowledgeable and willing to help. I used to rave to my fish-loving friends and even to fish shoppers at other pet stores about Fishy Business. But even still my daughter and I would breathe a sigh of relief when we'd walk in and find Rich wasn't there that day. And today my husband can attest, I said "pray Rich treats me nicely!" as I left home to return the fish. We have spent 100's on fish there for our 4 tanks, but we are done. Having nice fish is not worth it when your character is trampled on and you have to explain to your young daughter why some people are disrespectful and rude. I'd rather buy cheap fish from a pet store where at least I'm treated with dignity and respect. Rich, I would encourage you to think of your customers as friends, to think about your reputation and the legacy you'll leave behind. Those matter so much more than your fish.

Very clean, staff was helpful when they were needed no pressure or feeling rushed. Bought my first freshwater fish (12 neon tetras) and 24hrs later still alive and healthy. Definitely recommend checking this place out they have a huge selection of fish and plants!

I've been to every aquarium retailer I can find including Orlando, Altamonte, Ocala, Apopka, Orange City, Deland, and a few other stops on road trips. These guys are great. Consistently have my best interest, and provide friendly and very experienced advice. Check them out. I did, and I love my 7 aquariums, from 2.5g shrimp breeder to 125 gallon. They help me to keep it amazing!

They wont sell you a 1 gallon bowl for a goldfish that should be in a pond like some of the big box stores. (Also they have the aqueon black pine stands which are the absolute best stands for tanks and nobody else seems to carry them.)

Have not received any info or response from my emails, I called the store multiple times with no answer and my skimmer has now been down this whole time. Wouldn’t recommend anyone to buy anything from this place with the poor service I have received.

Experiencia negativa: Bought $100 in fish to put in my well established 55 gallon tank that had about $200 worth of fish already in it. All dead in 2-3 days. Ick was obvious and we treated but it wasn’t soon enough to save our fish or the new ones. I called and was told I should have called in 24 hours and the Owner was rude and acted like it was impossible the fish we bought did this. The new fish was the only thing that changed. Of course it was the fish.

Experiencia fantástica: I absolutely love this store- they are organized and clean, fish specific for both fresh and salt water, and have been providing my family with healthy mollies and swordtail fish for years. Their food and products have helped keep our fish in top conditions. We bought one if the baby catchers for our fish here and have produced a total of 8 healthy babies with it. Unfortunately we had to get rid of the fish in our 55 gallon aquarium in the process if moving, and when we called first they took my precious baby fish. I truly enjoy all the service this store does and would recommend it for anything fish wise, 10000/10 service, thank you guys!

The only thing that kept me coming back was the lady that works there, she was extremely nice and helpful. The guy made me feel like a complete idiot whenever I went in for help and he seemed annoyed at all of my questions. I definitely will NOT be going back. The products that they carry were helpful.

Experiencia negativa: Was impressed with the store. Bought two fish and, feeling overly confident, added them to my well established 55 gal aquarium. Within a week found my fish acting oddly and soon discovered an outbreak of ich. Currently watching fish I've tested by carrying them cross country with no problem, acting like they have no life left in them. I'm devistated!! Addendum : I lost two fish to the Ich ordeal. Still in recovery mode but seems the parasite is dormant. Still have no intentions of buying from this business again.

Experiencia negativa: Well I went to the fishy business store because suggestion from a friend of mine to get beautiful cichlids. well they had gorgeous Cichlids and I have $200 to spend today How no one in the store even acknowledged me when I walked in they didn’t say hi didn’t ask if I needed help nothing so I just left. Pretty disappointing because I drove 45 minutes to get there.

Experiencia negativa: I went in, after calling first, to grab a healthy Japanese Beta Fighting Fish for my elderly Dad, with Frontal-lobe Dementia. I was told they had the perfect one, and quoted me a price of about $9. I loaded up my Dad and made the trip to get his new pet. Upon arrival I was shown 8 Beta Fish. 5 were all but dead, the one they told me was perfect for Dad, had fin rot so bad that he didn't even have fins left. When I picked the one small Beta, I thought I might be able to be saved with antibiotics to at least survive the week, the price had jumped to almost $20. The fish tanks in general are filled with algae and sick fish threw the entire store. First time there, and would not even go back to trust their fish to use as fishing bait !

Experiencia fantástica: This was one of THE BEST freshwater aquarium hobby stores I have been to. I used to also work at a marine aquarium hobby store almost 15 years ago, so I can appreciate the challenges of maintaining and improving aquariums in a store. Once entering the store I was not bombarded by the employees and allowed to peacefully enjoy their beautiful and healthy animals and plants. The prices are VERY fair. The plants are neatly displayed and clearly labeled. Their bettas are also very happy! They have multiple very large display aquariums that you can just get lost in watching. After being there for about 10-15 minutes, an employee kindly asked if we needed assistance, which at that moment we did not. Once my husband and I knew what we would purchase, we went to the front counter and asked for assistance. The owner asked one of his employees to help us and he was EXTREMELY helpful! I am very grateful for his help and wish him the best! I definitely will be back soon!!

I have to give this place 4 stars though because aside from the fish, there is a lack of a number of some other supplies and sometime they are completely out of things I need for the tank.

Experiencia negativa: I bought 5 fish on Thursday and they were dead on Sunday. They said bring in a water sample. Well, this guy laid into me worse than a principal yelling at a detention student. No hello no thank you no nothing. I was only following the advice of his present and past employees. I left the 75$ receipt to show I support my local businesses even though it is a 20 mile drive there each way. I lost 25$ on my fish because I was not prepared to get yelled at and defend myself. But they lost a loyal customer, as I am never going back there again.

Great selections on tetras buy 3 Tetras of same species get half off on the third fish, but 6 of the same Tetra species you get one of the same species free. Fishy has wide variety of products from pieces of decorative wood to gravel and large stones and wide selection of live plants, to assorted mechanical filters. The staff very knowledgeable of lighting and water and disease issues. I could go on and on. Check em out.

Experiencia fantástica: Wonderful experience all around! I have been to the shop several times, all my purchased fish with the exception of one have been wonderful, happy, and healthy (the one exception struggled due to a birth defect- no fault of the owners). The place has a wide variety of specimens and staff are very knowledgeable on the best combinations of species, parameters, tank sizes, and proper care. It is very clean, offers a variety of products such as food and tank decorations. They also offer free water tests to see if an aquarium is adequate for fish to thrive in or need adjustments. Staff were willing to help one on one with fish selection and guidance, and are clearly very passionate about what they do. Will definitely be getting all my fish from here in the future, cannot recommend this place enough! The only thing I thing I would say as a deterrent is that this is NOT a place to get fish for children or people who do not believe fish are anything more than ornaments. The staff make it very clear that these animals are NOT just something to keep in a small bowl on your kitchen counter, they are for people have the time and set up and are willing to take care of these animals and provide them the proper environment to survive long term. Fish require just as much care as any other pet, and these people understand that. If you can't afford to or unwilling to take on the responsibility that would come with owning any other kind of pet, you're probably not ready for a fish then either. Leave them with these kind, dedicated people who are looking to send them to good, responsible homes.

Experiencia fantástica: Great place to shop your aquarium needs. Very helpful staff to walk you through the process of setting up a tank and very knowledgeable about which fish best suit your tank. We'll be going back again and again.
