Eli was very knowledgeable and helped guide us on some choices for coral that we purchased as there were so many wonderful options. We ended our time with some very beautiful and healthy pieces for our reef tank as well as a new favorite fish store :). Eli was wonderful and so very patient with us. I would highly recommend their assistance to anyone visiting! Eli also creates stickers of various critters that you can buy during check out that are very high quality. (Give them a raise)

The staff member I spoke to was knowledgeable and very helpful when discussing stocking options for my new tank. He was honest that they were waiting on a shipment of plants so I should hold off on buying those at that time. I will definitely go back soon!!

I walked the store and instantly observed how clean and organized the tank setup and merchandise areas are kept. The owner gave me time to look around the store at different items and then came over to answer questions and offer extremely helpful advice. He saved me a lot of time researching the internet for answers and I greatly appreciate it. I will be back to purchase fish and other items for my new aquarium.

Experiencia fantástica: Lady was very nice and helpful! I asked for 2 neons and she said one looked not the best condition so she gave me a third for free just in case it didn't make it. This is the 3rd local fish store I've been to, and their prices are the best by far, my neo shrimp and neon tetras were a good $2-3 cheaper per fish than any others I've found. It's kinda hidden and the sign is a small one hanging from the mailbox, so it's easy to miss, but the gps location is super accurate. The store is a small cabin down the driveway behind a house.

Experiencia positiva: Okay so I understand that some of the creatures are in a safer environment than the alternative (i.e. dead, extinct) but this place gives me bad vibes. The staff members are nice. But the store itself is REALLY narrow and it's cramped and hard to navigate around people. It was slightly nerve-racking with toddlers. The creatures are beautiful but you can kind of hear their souls screaming in torment at their captivity.

Experiencia positiva: I am a marine aquarium enthusiast and I've had successful aquariums for a very long time. I went to visit this location today in an attempt to find some quality specimen for my marine tank. The staff did not acknowledge our presence. They were speaking to one another about a personal aquarium project they were working on at home. There were many dead fish, especially in the beta tanks and fresh water tanks. The beta tank was very cloudy and there were 4 dead betas and 1 in the process of dying. One of the triggers in the marine section was dead as well and being picked at by its tank mates. The employees should stop watching aquarium tik toks/youtube videos and clean the tanks! I've learned from some very high end aquarium investors to not trust your business to an organization that doesn't at the bare minimum keep their tanks clean and free from dead fish when possible. I understand dead fish can accumulate quickly, but if you're laughing with your friends instead of doing your job it's a bad sign for the quality of fish you will receive. If you're spending 2500-5 grand on a beautiful set up you have to protect your investment. Left a 3 star review instead of a 1 star because it's not necessarily the owners fault the employees there today did not take their job seriously. Also, they do have a wonderful selection of salt and fresh water fish. I'll stop back again at random soon and change my review if conditions have improved.

Experiencia fantástica: Went to a chain pet store to setup a tank, and the store had zero fish. I asked when they were coming in, they didn't know. I thought inwould ask some tank questions anyway since I was there, and the store had no information at all about sand vs rocks, the correct filter, what fish are good together- the person was basically all shoulders and shrugged everything I said off with zero information. I looked up another store and found this place 1 mile from my house. They populated my tank, helped with sediment, PH, Temps, ick prevention (and helped me solve my first case of it), water changes, etc. All while being super nice and professional about it. As long as I'm in the area, this is where I'm spending my cash.

Experiencia negativa: We brought a few new fish home and acclimated them to our established tank. All original fish dead within a week and all but one new fish have also died. Recommend getting your fish elsewhere.

Experiencia negativa: Got an aquatic frog and two guppies from Rivers to Reefs. Called last week and said after purchasing these, all fish were dead/dying in our tank; I asked the worker on the phone if they had any diseases there at the store with guppies/frogs and he said no immediately and recommended me PraziPro. We treated our tank with PraziPro (does not treat ich)... Called again yesterday as fish still sick and dying and a different worker confirmed the batch of guppies we purchased had ich at the store. This worker said they were treating for ich there and recommended ich-x medicine--apologized for the worker last week not telling me the source was ich from the store. However, this worker said *they are still selling that batch of guppies* while treating for ich. Unbelievable. Way to sell fish to infect other people's tanks. Go to Aquarium Adventure in Hilliard to see how clean it is there versus how dirty Rivers to Reefs is--you will never shop at Rivers to Reefs again after. I want to support a smaller, local business like Rivers to Reefs, but they are literally selling fish with ich, they are not forthright about it, the tanks there need a serious overhaul in how they are maintained, and they are squeezing in so many tanks with visibly poor conditions when I have gone. I will not buy from Rivers to Reefs ever again. My kids are heartbroken about how many fish we have lost; I foolishly trusted this store and the first worker on the phone.

Experiencia positiva: Great prices on fish and good if you're looking to find a diverse selection of both freshwater and saltwater. However, this shop is very tight. If you have agoraphobia like me, it can be difficult to properly look at fish without feeling like you're being suffocated. Also, do not bother buying plants here, they will melt.

Experiencia negativa: I don't like leaving bad reviews for local businesses, but this one was particularly rough to visit. When we went there for some coral food, there were just dozens of tanks filled with animals that looked poorly taken care of. Multiple tanks with dead fish being eaten by cleanup crews. Multiple fish tanks with fish with torn fins, unhealthy looking gills, etc. These are living creatures, and deserve respect. Re-consider going here if you want healthy, living creatures. Staff was helpful and friendly, but caring for animals should be first priority.

Experiencia negativa: So, at first, this place was great and worked well with people. Fish were amazing. We started a new saltwater tank. Had some fish in there doing well added some more fish. Those fish died We decided to add a few more fish on March 10. We bought 3 fish for saltwater tank, a dog face puffer spotted rabbit, fish, a Blondie Naso. Right at the end of two weeks two of the fish died again we had the water tested. There was nothing wrong with our water. Just got a message saying no refund your fish. There nothing wrong with the fish that he could see but I’d like to know where he is a veterinarian or a fish biologist to determine that there was nothing wrong with them. I do recall having to pick up the rabbit later because there was a whole spot on them and they wanted to make sure everything was OK so they kept them for two weeks before we could purchase him. So just be careful when you shop at this place because this is not the first time we’ve had misleading information from this company.

Experiencia negativa: Possibly one of the most unkempt aquarium stores I've ever been to. Reasonable, but eclectic product selection. They have a few nice lighting, heating, and hardscape products (okay driftwood, okay rocks). The people were kind and personable, but wow they desperately need more staff to maintain the health of their livestock, plants, and labels. I don't think I'd ever buy a freshwater fish from this store. Almost every tank is: destroyed by algae, stuffed with decaying plants, or being used as a burial ground for dead fish and shrimp. I saw overfed fish with bulging stomachs and fish with sunken stomachs. Some tanks look moderately healthy with fish that look to be in good health, but the fact that nearly all tanks have some quickly recognizable issue really is off-putting. I don't like seeing the hobby suffer and more importantly i dont like seeing fish suffer. I feel bad writing this review, the staff was helpful and passionate, but management needs to step up the cleaning. Most tanks were mislabeled without listed prices or proper species. If the business reads this, please consider switching to bare bottom tanks with appropriate accommodation for livestock. It will really help make maintenance easier. Start sweeping nightly. Remove rotting plant waste. I'm perfectly happy altering this review or removing it once something changes. I've added some pictures of dead fish out of tanks and plants rotting away. Hopefully, this adds some validity to what I've mentioned above. I want this to be my go to local fish store but how can I come here knowing the fish and plants aren't being cared for? Also your phone mailbox is full.

Experiencia fantástica: Got to say that I always appreciate an honest seller. I have been reefing since 2002. So I know pretty much everything there is to know. A lot of times I go into a business acting dumb just to see how well they know their stuff and how honest they are. These guys did not know an answer to a question I asked. Rather than try and blow some smoke up my backside like a lot Do, they told me they weren’t sure. I totally respect their honesty.

Experiencia fantástica: This is an absolutely outstanding aquarium store. The staff and owner are exceptionally knowledgeable, experienced, friendly, and helpful. They helped me recover my tank after I unfortunately bought a batch of sick black phantom tetras from one of their cross town rivals. Those tetras all died within two weeks of me purchasing them (one died two days after purchase). They all likely had neon tetra disease based on symptoms. This store went above and beyond in answering all my questions, giving me advice and recommendations, and even testing my water and examining two of the dead tetras. Today, I returned to purchase a dozen rasboras from them, and they were exceptional as they always are. I cannot recommend this store enough. If you are looking for aquarium advice, aquatic plants, freshwater fish, salt water fish, or even axolotls... Go to this store! You will not regret it.

Experiencia fantástica: I spoke with Jack for twelve minutes over phone deciding the best treatment and procedure for my beta fish’s ailment. What a wonderfully dutiful, astute and helpful worker. You should feel very proud to have Jack on your team. I don’t know many who have provided me such congenial and thorough customer service, especially over the phone. You’ve gained a loyal customer indeed. I will update with pictures of my fish after the treatment.

Also if you ever are gonna use wood or stone GO HERE I ended up spending 30 bucks for two huge pieces or mopani and a lot of dragon stone.

Experiencia fantástica: I bought a young wild axolotl from here today which the axolotl is currently doing fine and is eating pellets and nightcrawlers and seems healthy, I really recommend buying fish and other aquatic animals from here since they have everything you would need or want.(also the tank is temporary until the larger tank is ready.)

And drive They are my most trusted fishkeeping stores in Columbus. The employees are well educated and helpful. The store itself is nowhere near the size of a box store, by any means. They carry what any Fish Hobbyist wants. From the best of the best brand name medications, to various types of healthy foods, to best of the best brand named chemicals, to Aquariums and aquarium supplies. And the fish are so healthy as well as unique! If you buy your fish at Rivers to Reefs, yes, you can find some common favorites but they have a REALLY nice selection of cool and unique fish. The kinds that will impress your friends and family. If you keep fish in the Columbus Area or Central Ohio this place makes a great GREAT go to store!

Experiencia negativa: 2nd time here in 2 weeks when i walked in was told there were a few corals on sale in the front frag tank, i asked about the prices and was told 30 each for a hammer and torch when i get up to the register the price i was asked for was about 30 extra so i asked what everything costed and the same guy who told me that before now says the torch is 60 so i asked to put it back and grab something else, i didnt even notice till i got home the hammer was not the same one i picked it was much smaller and not as colorful, this was my second time here and second time walking in to dead fish in the tank like a kole tang in a 20g, the employees know nothing about saltwater and ignore customers while standing around talking all the time, one of the frag tanks has aiptasia, when you're paying $40 for a fish, you should expect much better than this store can possibly offer

I gave them a treatment and they’re doing okay now, but I can’t tell you one time I’ve bought a fish from them and it didn’t come with ich….

Numerous employees stand around talking amongst themselves instead of helping customers, which is also frustrating given the number of dead fish in the tanks. They are frequently out of stock of common fish and I have also purchased multiple fish that came and presented illness within hours of purchase. Basically a step above a petco.

Experiencia fantástica: I usually sautée or roast my fish with just a little bit of garlic, salt and pepper, some EVOO, onions and tomatoes. I've tried fish from Rivers to Reefs twice now and both times I was beyond disappointed. The fresh water fish were way too small and didn't hold the flavor of the garlic. I tried the salt water fish next and while the flavor was better, the texture was too slimy and the fish was smelly. I really wanted to like this store because they have the best prices on baby crabs. But I feel like the lack of quality just isn't worth it. Maybe if Gordon Ramsey could work a miracle it'd be worth, but but I'm going back to Costco for my seafood and I recommend you do the same.

Experiencia fantástica: Update again: This is probably the best fish store in town. The staff is knows fish, they have a solid selection of fish and the fish are usually healthy. It helps that all of the their tanks are independent systems so IF there is an illness in one tank it doesn't effect the rest of the stock. Overall, if you're a hobbyist aquarist this is the place to shop. I would recommend Rivers any day over Aquarium Adventure and it's the best shop since Byerly's. Update: I went back to give Rivers to Reefs a second chance recently and it was a much better experience, there was positive customer service, they had the fish I was after and I will be back for additional stock for my aquariums. I saw this place and thought it was exactly what I was looking for in a LFS(Local Fish Store), the reviews looked good, their social media looked promising and I finally made it around to checking out Rivers to Reefs. The store was exactly as expected stock tanks with fish, both marine and freshwater. There was a good selection of fish and invertebrates and all looked fairly healthy. So now for the bad, the customer service was non existent, when I went in I was given a very standoffish "hello" at no point was any kind of service offered. I noticed 3 employees working one customer. I very much would have liked to acquire some fish to stock my tank, but alas no one offered service and I did not purchase any fish. I left the store disappointed and I won't be returning. If you need to stock an aquarium I'd recommend ordering your fish online as there don't seem to be any passable fish stores in Columbus.

Experiencia positiva: This place is NOT bad at all depending on what you're looking for. Their fish are healthy and flourishing, their plants are also very well maintained, etc. Now this is important. If you're coming here for axolotls, be prepared to either get a sick lotl, or a hurt lotl. They do not take care of them properly and should not own them if they can not be maintained. You need 20 gallons of water per adult axolotl. They had 3 adults in possibly an 8 gallon tank. They were nipped at, skinny, underfed, I'm pretty sure one was morphing. The one with a nip in its tail will die of an infection unless somebody buys it. The Lucy they had was skinny and possibly morphing. The wild type was actually in decent shape but missing some gill filaments (from being nipped at) and I'm convinced that their diet is not what it should be (nightcrawlers). If you're coming here for an axolotl, be prepared to nurse it back to health.

Experiencia positiva: Lot of cool stuff and definitely a fish store for the fish hobbyist. The customer services truly lacking. They have a tendency to act like they're bothered when asked to get fish out for customers.

Experiencia negativa: First visit since they opened. Poor tank quality, dirty tanks, overstocked fish and very stressed fish. There were also quite a few dead fish in the tanks, which was quite a lot even if it were a new shipment. Considered some freshwater plants but those tanks had millions of snails. I was so excited to visit since they were great that first year they opened, but was quite disappointed today.
