Experiencia positiva: The butterfly house was nice. The aquarium portion is a bit limited. I may be too spoiled with the Omaha zoo and its aquarium area.

Experiencia fantástica: Fun atmosphere, smaller aquarium, but still lots to look at and even a spot you can go under to see the fish swimming 360° around you! Butterfly garden was fun, but not as many butterflies as they had 10+ years ago! Lots of reasonably-priced things in the gift shop, though!

Experiencia positiva: We like butterfly houses and aquariums, and have been to several. I would rate the butterfly portion of this experience good, but the aquarium as only fair. There are a small number of aquatic displays, and it took just a short time to see them. We did appreciate the opportunity to touch several kinds of starfish. Bottom line: this would probably a great experience for little kids. For adults, not so much.

Experiencia negativa: My sister and I bought our mother a gift certificate for the Butterfly House two years ago for Christmas. This summer, our family was able to make the trip to SD, so we jumped on it. When our family arrived after our four-hour drive (one way!) specifically to come here, we were told that our gift certificate of $50 had expired a year ago and that there was "no way" they could let us in. The manager (to his credit) came by and also told us to our face that we were not getting in unless we paid for new tickets. We didn’t have the money to pay them twice for the same tickets, nor would we have enjoyed our time had we been scammed like that. We told them we had driven all this way just to see the butterflies and had been looking forward to this for years. He told us "the best he could do was get one of us in for free". (If he can get one of us in, why not all three of us? Who is going to be upset? He is in charge as the manager, right?) This was all despite the fact that we had *literally already paid them*. This is ridiculous and left my mother tearful because our whole family had driven all this way for our special day together. I would have loved to leave a five star review and have had a great time, but unfortunately the only lesson I can take away is the fact that you CERTAINLY should not purchase a gift certificate from this place. If it takes you longer than a year to use it, it turns into a funny scam for them where they they will steal your money with a smile, and turn you and your crying mother away at the door. Very very disappointing, will never return.

Experiencia fantástica: This is a great place to bring the kids. This was my third visit and I brought my 7 year old, my 6 year old and 15 year old granddaughters. There are many varieties of butterflies, plus coy fish in the pond, turtles and some other little critters. The kids always enjoy holding the silk flower feeders which attract the butterflies. It's a great way to spend a summer afternoon. There is also an aquarium to visit at the beginning of the self guided tour.

Experiencia positiva: Took a 3 hour drive to check this place out. The staff at the front desk don’t say hi or anything. I had to say something. Only takes about an hour maybe a tad longer. Very expensive for what it is. The butterfly feeders should come with admission. They are another 3.50 per person. None of the touch tanks were open. The aquarium is just a couple of small tanks. Not worth the hype.

Experiencia positiva: Overhyped and overpriced. We enjoyed the butterfly house for a quick visit but didn’t feel like it was worth the price to get in. It is priced similarly to the zoo and science discovery center which we enjoyed more and for longer. The aquarium is a small room with tanks (the touch tank closes at 1 according to a posted sign).

Experiencia positiva: You can pay with card to get tickets to come in but if you want to get anything in the gift shop with a card you have to pay cash. Or pay an extra fee to use a ATM to get cash to pay for things in the gift shop. The butterfly house was great, the aquarium was a lot smaller than I expected a lot of money to get in for an exhibit that’s only takes about 25 minutes to go through.

Experiencia fantástica: Good homeschool field trip, plan to spend about 2 hours. We met the gecko and watched the turtles get their lunch. Butterfly area is always warm with plenty of interesting things to see. In addition to a magnificent variety of butterflies there are koi and turtles in the pond, and tiny quail running around eating up all the ants and bugs. The aquarium is small but hosts a variety of sea creatures like lion fish, shrimp, horseshoe crabs and jellyfish. The boys loved the little sharks and stingrays. We also appreciated the lifecycle of the butterfly display, the crabby chameleon, and the tiny jellyfish.

Experiencia fantástica: It was a great experience as always! The touch pond was down again so we didn't get to experience that but we did get to feed a butterfly or two! I didn't think there were as many butterflies as last time though. Overall a great and friendly experience for all ages!

Experiencia negativa: Not impressed. The aquarium is very small, has very limited exhibits. There are hands-on touch pools for the kids, but they were all closed on a Saturday. Don’t waste your time going here.

Experiencia negativa: My family enjoys visiting the Butterfly House during the winter months, it is a great indoor activity. However, if we didn’t have a zoo membership that gives us free admission we probably wouldn’t go due to it being extremely overpriced. There are lots of interesting things to see but the price feels way too high for what’s offered. One major downside is that the Butterfly House is not toddler friendly. Recently a staff member approached me because my 2 year old picked up a leaf off of the ground, explaining that we are not allowed to touch anything. As I was talking to the staff member, they pointed out that my child was touching a pole and told me to make sure didn’t touch that either. If the rules are really this strict, I believe the staff should be more proactive in keeping the environment clean and making sure children aren’t tempted to touch things. Instead, the staff was more focused on their phones than on supervising the area. For parents with young children, constantly having to remind them not to touch things takes the fun out of the visit for everyone. Overall, the Butterfly House has a lot to offer but the strict rules and high prices make it less appealing.

Experiencia negativa: Disappointed. You round up and pay 50 dollars for them to go down hill. Hasnt improved from two years ago. And has taken away all the fun things that madenit worth it. Such as touching the stingrays and fish. Or the sand box they had for kids to play after you exit. Not worth going anymore.

Experiencia positiva: Very overpriced for a very underwhelming experience. “Aquarium” is more like a pet store fish exhibit, along with the other bugs and reptiles that are there, did have a very informative discussion about millipedes which was nice but only because we were there at the right time. Front desk didn’t inform us of how to get into the butterfly house until we asked and that was the best part. I could’ve sat there for forever! But still paying $32 for 2 people was ridiculous in my opinion.

Experiencia positiva: Is it the biggest funnest aquarium and butterfly house, nope... But for this area, it checks all blocks. The butterfly's were fun and beautiful. The fish they did have were too. Some of the tanks in the aquarium had signs for fish that weren't in the tanks, or there just wasn't a sign for the fishes at all. I think it's more of a funding issue on why it's a bit "run down" looking. Regardless, if you want to kill a couple of hours, this is definitely an option. Just don't expect some grand aquarium or butterfly house.

Experiencia fantástica: A great place to go with family, friends or a date. The Aquarium is little but it's still alot of fun to see the different fish. When I brought a friend last month the buttterflies were amazing, I don't know if it was the time of day or what was happening but they all suddenly became very active and were flying around everywhere all at once and it was so mesmerizing to see all of their pretty wings on display as they made their way around the room. We stayed inside and watched for an hour and left feeling so happy about what we just saw. It's worth the ticket price to go at least once so you can see for yourself.

Experiencia fantástica: It’s pretty good. Nice to see this sort of attraction. Aquarium is just in one room. There are around 9-10 tanks including some bigger ones on the floor. Butterfly room is a decent size and has a lot of butterflies and plants. There are also some of their animals there like quail, koi, and turtles in the pond. Lots of benches to sit and relax.

Experiencia positiva: Overpriced for what you get. It's a nice place to bring young kids, but I took my four yr old grandson, and it was $28. Did the whole thing in under an hour. Could have gone to the zoo for that price and spent an afternoon. They want an additional $3.50 to "rent" an artificial flower to try to attract a butterfly to land on it. Overpriced in my opinion.

Experiencia negativa: I got sticker shock at the entry and never went in. I have a large family and it was really disappointing because it sounded like such a fun and unique experience for my kids, especially my daughter. Unfortunately there was no way I'd ever pay small amusement park prices to take a short walk through a building and look at some butterflies for 15 minutes. I can't help but think they would do much better and attract more visitors, be more accessible to the community, sell more merchandise and inspire more children if their prices weren't so horribly unreasonable for what they're offering.

Experiencia fantástica: Love visiting this place. The aquarium is a LOT like the Indianapolis Zoo except they don't have a cool viewing dome in their tropical fish tank. And you'll have better luck petting a ray here because the crowds aren't as bad. The butterfly house is dope too and again, better than the one at Indy Zoo. Nicer landscaping job and variety to the butterflies and fish and other critters. PLUS you can feed the butterflies here which you can't do in Indianapolis. Always a must-see whenever I'm back in the 605. I think I get more homesick for this place than my actual hometown

Experiencia positiva: Coming here today was an unexpected surprise. We’re traveling from Denver, Colorado, where we have the Butterfly Pavilion, which is pretty elaborate. However, the Butterfly House and Aquarium didn’t disappoint. There was so much to see in the aquarium portion. Unfortunately, it’s only open until 1 o’clock, however, we meandered around until around 1:30 in there. The staff were very informational and provided some detailed info about the creatures that we were looking at. So many butterflies were out and about. And we even had the opportunity to listen to a gentleman talk about a python snake. A decent 30 bucks spent for two hours of fun.

Experiencia fantástica: I recently visited Dan Diego and paid $75! to enter. One of the exhibits I was anxious to see was the butterfly house. While there I maybe saw 10 butterflies. Fast forward to this butterfly house and it was amazing! Butterflies swarming everywhere even catching a ride on you. It was worth every penny.

Experiencia positiva: Took the kids to the butterfly house & aquarium. My older three loved it!!! They had a grand time with the touching crab tank. My youngest, who's on the spectrum, was overwhelmed. He didn't like it as much. It was a bit spendy. And an extra $3.50 for a little vase with a flower that they spray with sugar water for a butterfly to land on that you have to return.

Experiencia fantástica: I read negative reviews like "this is not an aquarium it's fish tanks" and complaints about no strollers. #1. Since was going to an aquarium in the northeast of South Dakota I had no expectation of it looking like a coastal aquarium. It simply CANNOT be, look at a map for crying out loud. What they do offer however is impressive, well displayed, educational and visually stimulating. My 9 month old granddaughter was wide eyed and attentive during our entire visit. The butterfly house was amazing, simply awesome. Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. #2. I did worry about carrying my chunky monkey grandbaby but as it turned out I was so busy enjoying the experience with her that it didn't matter. There are benches if you need to rest. I highly recommend this learning experience for children and the wonderment for adults. 10/10 for me!

The kids areas were messy and over used as if they weren’t being taken care of (the exploring area mostly needs some help, some stuff was broken), they don’t offer military discount, the staff was pretty fricken rude at the front and inside the butterfly housing area. It felt like the biggest area.. was the gift shop. Cool place, great concept, poorly executed.

Experiencia fantástica: I really loved it! My children had so much fun! We easily spent two hours there. About 30-45min in the aquarium section, and the rest with the butterflies. They offer these really cute fake flowers that you can buy and they will put sugar water on it to help you attract butterflies. The staff was so nice and friendly, they answered all of my questions, and they did an awesome job with answering my children's questions as well. They were very educational about the animal we saw here. NOTE: If you have state insurance, they give you a really great price, they also offer veterans discounts but im not sure on the amount. Definitely call and check on it if you would like an exact price.

Experiencia fantástica: I love going to the butterfly house. The aquarium is very neat and I would love if they would be able to expand. There isn't much else like it in the area. I love the butterfly area so you can visit and have a great time enjoying a relaxing environment. They do let you rent a flower to have for butterflies to land on and feed but we found you don't really need the feeding flower to enjoying the space. I had a few land on me without any flowers so you can be "chosen" without it. If there would be one request I would make, it would be to change up the gift shop area a little. It seemed like there were only toys to pick from and found that as an adult, there was very little to interest me. I'm one to be addicted to mugs, key chains, and gifts for friends. The closest thing I found somewhat interesting was the magnets but would have loved more items like jewelry, snow globes, or even stickers. Past my crippling addiction to gift shots, I really do enjoy coming here.

Experiencia positiva: We came here strictly for the butterfly house attraction and I must admit it was much cooler than I thought it would be! The aquarium portion of this place is lacking a little bit, but that could also be attributed to the fact that I'm used to much more extensive aquariums. We did get to do story time with a snake to learn about that specific breed which was pretty cool. Be careful when purchasing tickets, from what I could tell via the butterfly house's link you could only buy tickets for solely the zoo or the zoo & butterfly house combined when all we wanted was tickets for just the butterfly house. We ended up purchasing zoo tickets that we didn't even use online and then had to purchase butterfly house tickets onsite, so I just recommend you buy your tickets onsite. This is part of the reason why I'm only giving a star rating of 4/5.

Experiencia fantástica: It was a fun experience for a variety of ages, its a neat experience and the petting ponds are cool as you can actually touch some of the aquarium critters, we also got to pet a lizard which was also cool, and all the butterflies in the butterfly house is an experience to. They have the penny press machine there too.

Experiencia fantástica: I think this would be best for older kids for the butterfly house. I took 3 kiddos 5 and under. My 5 and 3 year old were scared of the butterflies that they would land on them. All of my kids enjoyed the aquarium which had a nice variety. All in all we only spent 45mins here. However, I did see some older kids in the butterfly house that looked like they were having a great time. The worker had given them a necterflower they could bring around and they loved it. So overall I think a great place. A little spendy for the 53 we spent to enter and only spent 45mins. But that's also our family's experience. I do think this is an amazing place to have in sioux falls and the gift shop was reasonably priced and not super inflated like you tend to see.

Experiencia negativa: Extremely disappointed in the Spooky Seas event. So for the advertisement it says there are treats and the Little Mermaid from 10-2:00. We got there at 12:40 and our daughter has been looking forward to this since they announced that the little mermaid was going to be there. There was nothing indicating that she was not going to be there the whole time. So my daughter goes running in excited to finally meet her and then the staff informs me that we missed her by 10 minutes and it ended at 12:30. When I asked where was that advertised they said it wasn't. The event felt very thrown together and the advertisement was extremely misleading. So instead of a good time I had to comfort my 3 year old who was absolutely devastated thinking Ariel her hero left her. This is the second membership we have had to it and for an everyday visit great place but special events there seems to be some false advertisement.

Experiencia positiva: I took a company guest’s child here on a Thursday morning. There was no wait, and just a few other guests. We spent about an hour, including 30 minutes in the actual butterfly room. The extra $3 for the butterfly feeder is worth it, as it attracted several butterflies right into our hands. The staff is very welcoming, and we particularly found the butterfly room attendant to be very knowledgeable about the quail. The aquarium area is small but it’s pretty cool. We got splashed by a Ray cruising around the edge of the tank. We were a little disappointed that the touch tank was closed. No big deal, but if your kids have their hearts set on touching starfish you’ll want to call ahead. The child I brought was 12, and while we enjoyed it, much of the material is geared towards a slightly younger audience. Overall it was a fine way to spend an hour, although the $36 price tag for the two of us was a lot for the experience.

Just a few rules around the Butterflies no Holding or touching allowed you could unknowingly hurt them. No jackets, sweaters etc allowed to prevent Butterfly Hitchhikers. The aquariums are Beautifully maintained.The aquatic life varies from a stingray, sea horse, corals and so much more. Wheelchair accessible. Wheelchair available upon request. Taking pictures is allowed. Public restrooms. Lovely souvenir shop.

There's a lot of informational pieces all over the place, and so many of the exhibits are optimized for children's enjoyment too. Everyone is both friendly and well informed. We greatly appreciated our time there!

Experiencia positiva: The Lost Star because of how small the facility is. With the price of admission expectation was a little higher for how many exhibits there would be That said the experience was still very nice. The facility was very clean. And staff were great.

However, in not sure how they call it an aquarium, there's literally 1 small room with just a few tanks. For the price I paid I was a little disappointed. I thought I read in the comments that it cost$6. That's not accurate it was like $14ish and $10 for my 4 year old. I would say it was worth only $6.

Experiencia positiva: Some of the animals seemed stressed in their small habitats but the kids enjoyed it. They really liked where you can crawl under the aquarium and look at everything from "inside." Butterflies were beautiful of course.
