🗣️ Acuario Interactivo de Houston y Reserva de Animales: Opiniones
Experiencia fantástica: This place looks awful from the outside but GO IN!! It’s wonderful. It’s expensive but it’s a very interactive experience. The staff is BEYOND WONDERFUL!! They are helpful and dispense free food for the goats, ducks, birds and horses. The options to buy food for the stingrays and fish is expensive but what a wonderful experience it provides. My three grandsons and I had a blast. Kaleb in the bounce house snack bar was so very helpful. I can’t say enough good about him.
Experiencia negativa: Trashy. Dirty. Over priced. Cheaply made. Why would you go here when you have the houston zoo which Is much better by far. Employees don’t have a passion for the animals. Will never go back. Waste of time honestly.
Experiencia positiva: Would be 5 stars but not all areas are ADA compliant. My father in law had to get out of his wheel chair to enter the door right beside the lemurs and toucan. With that being said this was a great experience! My shark obsessed daughter loved being able to feed and touch a shark. There were so many different animals you could pay to have an experience with and some were free. All animals were healthy looking and the facility was clean and very fun!
Experiencia fantástica: Had a friendly welcome and goodbye from Danial. My family really enjoyed and will return however i do wish they have more animals based on the price. Overall we still liked it. Thank you from Sarah and Family
Experiencia fantástica: Really great spot to spend time with our 4 years old. You can touch a lot of the animals on premises without having to pay extra. Definitely recommending this place.
Experiencia positiva: It was a pretty great place to visit on vacation, I would definitely recommend it.
Experiencia positiva: What a wonderful facility! The staff really made this visit great. Everyone was friendly, excited to tell us about the animals, offered to let us pet and/or feed them and went out of their way to be welcoming. We went early to see the animals active and my daughter had a blast. Make sure to visit the anteater and see the armadillo do zoomies after his breakfast!
Experiencia positiva: First of all this place is amazing for all ages! We greatly appreciated the additional parking and trolly that drops you to the front , driven by Mr James. Please get this man a portable AC & an ice cooler for safely transporting your guests back and forth in this Texas heat! He was sweating and red from exhaustion but still offered amazing customer service! As a driver myself, no AC is like having no access to a vital necessity. Other than that, I’d come back here over the zoo any day!
Experiencia negativa: It was very disappointing to learn that you will be removing bounce house area. Please do not remove bounce house and replaced with pickleballs. We are members and regulars here, but my kids usually play in bounce house for hours. My kids are not old enough to play pickleballs anyway. We are very concern if you remove bounce house area that we may not be continuing with our membership in the future then.
Experiencia fantástica: Had such a wonderful time with my family! There’s so much to see and do there! Perfect for kiddos! The staff and team were so amazing and kind as well. Staff member Daniel was very helpful towards me and my family. He took his time to explain all the different aspects of the place. Definitely visiting soon again
Experiencia positiva: Payment system was down last Saturday. It was decent but check out the one in Austin fjh m
Experiencia negativa: This place is expensive. You have to pay to even see most the animals. The enclosure are not fit for the animals. Place is straight up neglect and abuse
Experiencia fantástica: So worth the annual pass vs paying general admission in my opinion!! There was so much to do! We fed sting rays and manta rays, lemurs, an anteater and his super cute, small armadillo friend. Not to mention the giraffe, goats and so many other animals we got to experience. The staff is very kind and educated about the animals which made it even more fun with the facts we were learning. They are cooler friendly so we were able to pack sandwiches and snacks which was nice since they have many areas to sit and rest throughout the map. We had an absolute BLAST and can't wait to go back again soon!!
Experiencia fantástica: Great aquarium/zoo with different kinds of animals, but the employees are what really makes it even better. All employees are very helpful, especially the manager - my kids said “such a nice guy” and that says everything! We will definitely come back.
Experiencia fantástica: We highly recommend going here. We happened upon it during our visit and couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised. It was a stormy day, but there was so much to do inside it was worth it to go. The animals were well cared for and respected. The staff were all really friendly. You do have to pay to feed a lot of the critters, but not to interact with and pet them all. There were a lot of fields trips when we went but it never felt packed. There were a lot of animals outside we did go see, however, with the rain most were not interested in interacting. It was nice that the venue respected that and didn't once push an animal to go outside it's comfort zone. We didn't go in the bounce house or arcade but it looked fun if that's your thing.
Experiencia fantástica: Visited in June on a Wednesday and there were no crowds to speak of. Plenty of animals to interact with and friendly, knowledgeable staff. Curiously, drink options consist of water, flavored water, and energy drinks. No coke or Pepsi products despite the Pepsi refrigerators. Snack bar and grill available with pretty good tasting food.
Experiencia fantástica: This place was really well kept and staff are very friendly and helpful. It may look plain on the outside but once you go inside, it’s amazing. There’s so many things to do and the animals are so friendly. I would definitely recommend this place for a family fun day getaway.
Experiencia fantástica: Fun place especially for kids. An interactive take on a zoo/aquarium. They didn’t really explain the ticket packages thats well and I bought way more than I needed but had a great time none the less. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Experiencia fantástica: The Houston location is surprisingly good. Much more than I expected to be honest. I can see bringing kids to this multiple times a year especially as kids get to the 5+ ages. Staff was amazing and were very good with the kids.
Experiencia positiva: The attention from the staff is excellent, everybody is kind and attentive, all of them had a great attitude and helped. The facilities are not new, and some areas seemed to need some maintenance. The animal food vending machines are useless, none of them work, but you can buy food from some kiosks, my son really enjoyed feeding the rays. I did not knew the dinamic inside about the activities and purchased a combo season pass with too many credits, some of the activities listed have e cost in credits, so you plan with that info as reference, but in the reality most of those activities were unavailable, so we ended with a lot of unused credits. In comparison with other aquariums in the state, I don't think it worth what you pay. 2 adults + 1 kid around 200USD. The place is nice, and the staff is great but we will not renew the season pass and would return just to spend the rest of the unused credits. It would be good if credits could be used to purchase merchandise at the gift shop, now you cant.
Experiencia fantástica: Took the family here and had an absolute blast! Everyone we talked too was very knowledgeable on the animals. Mr. Travis by far was outstanding! Answered all questions. Great attitude! We be going again, you won’t regret it!
Experiencia fantástica: First time going and had a blast! Mr. Travis was outstanding! Very knowledgeable on the marine life and answered every question without even thinking. 100% recommend going and we we’ll be going again! Make sure yall talk to Travis in the marine section! Will not regret
Experiencia fantástica: AMAZING PLACE I highly recommend this place to have an amazing experience along with your family. I came here with my wife and had a blast! Their staff is awesome, super attentive and friendly. You will feel yourself like at home. I will return to this zoo soon. I invited my grandparents to spend a good time and interact with beautiful animals. They also have rental wheelchairs which is convenient. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to have a different zoo experience! Come and enjoy! I would give it 19292929292 stars.
Experiencia fantástica: Loved visiting here with my family. A couple of employees made the trip really worth it. Joel, the manager that was outside really helped us find our way around. A nice man by the name of Jason helped us visit with the lemurs (which was a BIG hit with my mom). He was very nice and explained to us the difference between all the lemurs. My son had ALOT of questions about them that he answered kindly. There was also a man who's name i think was Darren (he was in the food area) that was very nice and seemed very energetic. Visited for the animals, but had the time of our lives thanks to these three especially!
Experiencia positiva: This place is very expensive. For like 3 you’re looking at like $90 just to get in. Then you have to pay extra for everything. Even the petting zoo or bounce houses you have to pay for. You even have to pay for parking. It really feels like you’re being price gouged just for going. Some of the animals enclosures are also really small and I didn’t see them having a pair of many animals. I seemed kind of like a rough for some of the animals. You still do get to see animals and being able to feed or pet them is cool. The staff was at least nice. This is a decent one time experience.
Experiencia fantástica: My kids loved this interactive museum. We stopped by during a road trip and enjoyed every second of it. The staff is incredibly nice. Habitats are very clean and look well maintained. We were able to feed/pet all of the animals which made the price worth it. A Very affordable fun activity if your in the area. Will definitely come again.
Experiencia fantástica: Over the Memorial day my daughter and I had a great time, Travis was awesome. He was knowledgeable about the aquariums and made the whole experience fun and enjoyable! Skye also had the most awesome customer service there with my daughter in the lovebirds and Parakeets home.
Experiencia fantástica: Had such a blast!!! There is so much to do. I love the giant pacific octopus. It had so much more than I expected. I guess I need to get the membership.
Experiencia positiva: Edit Update: Final Edit. Very cool experience for the kiddos. My kid absolutely loves the stingray experience and the birds area. The only cons imho, while some animals seem to be living their best lives, like the stingrays and the fish in that specific sting ray tank, some of the others, I just can't imagine they're happy. There's not enough space for it. The penguins are in a space no bigger than a small childs bedroom. There's a small body of water that is no bigger than one of those toddler kiddie pools you'd buy at Walmart. And neither it or their area is ever all that clean. They kind of just sit there, no playing, and there's no way to swim. Would be nice to imagine that at the end of the work day they're able to be let out to go enjoy some open space. But there is no outside space for them to go. Same thing for the otters. Even smaller space for them. & There's no space for them to swim at all. One giraffe and Idk, I'm no animal whisperer but he seems really lonely to me. They do actually seem to have enough outdoor space for him, but no other giraffes for him to socialize with. Same thing for the Camel. Though they did try to put a donkey in there with it. From my understanding these animals are very social, herd animals. So it doesn't make sense that they'd have one of each, no real companion or herd for it, of its kind. I wish places like this could exist but also atleast try to make SURE the animals have the best chance to be happy in the circumstance. Im not pro peta shutting down all the petting zoos, but from this, I can see how there should be SOME standards the petting zoos would have to adhere too, making sure each enclosure truly has enough space to be comfortable, should definitely be one. And animals that are water animals, should definitely have atleast a community center outdoor pool-sized set up to swim back and forth in. Some major animal lovers don't like the idea of the public interacting with animals at all. But honest opinion, it seems like getting affection from the public is all some of these animals have to look forward to. Outstanding concept, very friendly and helpful staff, it would be top notch if some how to space issue could be adjusted. Nit seeing as there's a company to their left and another to their right, I dont see that happening. Even if they truly wanted to. I honestly do imagine that those in charge of the place are trying to do their best with the space they have. I wish someone could figure out spacing and like companions for those animals that are herd animals though. And I'll leave my rating at 4 out of 5. ********** 49.99 for 12 months is a steal. And it's so many things to do and so many animals to interact with and see, we couldn't even get to them all on this first visit. Happy to know that it wasn't all for nothing and now every time we come for the rest of the year we get in for free And yes there is still a little fee when you want to feed and interact with some of the really exotic animals, but imho, there are still many animals that are covered with your pass, free of charge, that the deal is still a pretty sweet deal imho. Kiddo loved the bounce houses. And that play space came free with the pass. I love that there was no time limit or line for that. My baby was able to run to this one and that one without limitation until his little heart was content lol. With other spaces that have petting zoos, all of their animals are outside. I love that this place has soo many animals indoors and outdoors, and so much to entertain yourself with inside. That way when Houstons brutal Summers come we can still have fun without being miserable. I definitely plan to come again. Loved seeing the Camel and feeding it, the giraffe and playing with the turtles. Most of all I love how delighted my kid was, and knowing that for the rest of the year, I can take him out for some out of the house fun, even on days I'm broke lol. Added pics, but they don't do the place justice. Rating the place a 10 out of 10. We'll be back for sure.
Hello Dionne, thank you for being members and taking the time to share your experience here. We are happy that overall you e enjoyed it here, and thank you for the feedback of your concerns. We will let management know. Please feel free next time you’re there to ask for management to talk to them about your concerns so they can better help explain each animals needs and how they make sure each one is taken care of. It might help a lot in understanding the ins and outs of the animals life too there. Best regards, and we look forward to seeing you again!
Experiencia fantástica: We visited the Houston Interactive Aquarium & Animal Preserve for a family outing to celebrate my son’s birthday, and it was an unforgettable experience! Travis in the Marine Center truly went above and beyond—when he heard it was a birthday celebration, he immediately took action to make the day extra special for our son. His kindness and enthusiasm made a huge impression on all of us. The entire staff was warm, professional, and clearly dedicated to making every guest feel welcome. We had so many amazing, hands-on animal encounters and left with wonderful memories that our family will treasure. Highly recommend this place for families—especially for a fun and meaningful birthday outing!
Experiencia positiva: Was not worth the price... you have to pay extra for most interactions with animals. It's a good idea but they are severely understaffed to help people who do pay extra for the encounters. I had over $100 worth of extra credits to spend on animal encounters and wandered around for 1.5 hours trying to find a qualified staff member to handle a animal. When I finally did find one you think you are going to have to cool experience with a animal but to tell you the truth it's very short and fleeting at least mine was... I'm sure most of the animals get tired of being bothered and fed. Their aquarium was a fun experience for my kids so that is why I gave it 3 stars.
Experiencia positiva: One of the coolest zoo I been to and everyone was so welcoming. I had fun petting and feeding the animals but one of the weirdest things while by the warthog one of the employees older man in a light blue shirt offered for us to feed the warthog, then handed us fries and fried chicken?!? I’m pretty sure seasoned?! Other animals were fed fruits and vegetables it almost felt wrong but we were being very enthusiastically told to go ahead and feed it to him..
Experiencia positiva: Had good experience here with my daughter only thing I didn't like was drinks they suck but the place is amazing for family time and children and school activities
Experiencia fantástica: The whole family had a great time. Petting and feeding the animals was thrilling. We went on a very hot day but it was manageable as there are plenty of indoor areas to escape into to cool down. Food is sold on the premises. No outside food or drink allowed. Staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. Animals were adorable, of course. (Tell Coconut the capybara we said “Hi!”) Gift shop prices were very reasonable.
Experiencia fantástica: We had our Cub Scout Big Trip here. Got to stay the night and watch a movie. Brandon was an AMAZING tour guide! We will come back.
Experiencia positiva: We went here on a field trip and it was a lot of fun and cool for both parents and kids. We took a lot of pictures, learned a lot, and enjoyed making memories! There were 2 problems. 1 problem that was a big problem for us, was the lack of space for all the people at one time. There were several other schools there on their field trips as well. Made for long waits to get to the animals, crowded walkways, had to hunt for a space to eat, and many ended up sitting on the ground anyway. The 2nd problem was the parking. The majority of the front lot was blocked off so it forced you (including handicapped) to park in the paid lot. The lot is larger chunky rocks only, and a hazard and a half for rolled ankles. We want to go back when it's less crowded and will consider the parking situation and make more demands for the handicapped accessibility parking.
Experiencia fantástica: Definitely Recommend, for kids and adults! Can feed and pet all the animals, some for free and others for a fee. Your admission ticket is a plastic card that you can load money on to pay for all the interactions and feedings. we spent about $40 on interactions -fish tank with small fish that clean your feet -lemurs -capybaras
Experiencia fantástica: Super fun for kids and adults alike. All the animals seem happy and well cared for. The staff is friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed learning about the different animals and interacting with them in their habitat. Very cool experience.
Experiencia fantástica: My biggest concern at a place like this is the treatment of animals, but I have been super impressed. You can be hoping for an encounter, but if the animal isn’t feeling it, the keeper says sorry and escorts everyone out. The keepers know each animal’s personality. I also learned that when a facility in Fort Worth was shut down due to inhumane treatment, the authorities contacted Houston Interactive first to ask if they’d like to rescue any of them. Many staff were very helpful, especially Carlos, who went out of his way to make sure our son had a good time. Highly recommend!
Experiencia negativa: I've been here a few times with my kids on field trips and once before as a family. The first few times, I felt like I should *give it time" because it was still fairly new and was still growing. This last time I realized that it won't get any better. So, first, parking. The lot directly in front of the place is small and always full. If you gamble and hope to find a spot in that lot and it is full, you then need to waste time and circle all the way back around and then enter the paid lot. Now this paid lot cost $5.00 to enter and it is not paved and there are no lines to park between. This lot is full of LARGE rocks that you're to drive on and just park wherever. Now when I say large rocks, I mean rocks that are 3 to 4 inches in size. Not fine gravel or pebbles that are reasonable to park on. It sounds absolutely awful while you're driving over them. And if you have a child with a stroller, forget it. You're carrying both until you get out of the lot. Then, you have to walk down a sidewalk in front of other businesses until you get to the actual Aquarium/zoo. Second, the concept is cool. Where typically in zoos you are far away from the animals and told to look and not touch; here you are encouraged to interact with the animals. However, you are also basically obligated to spend additional money to do so. From feeding the stingrays to every special encounter with birds, sloth, etc... everything will cost you. Your ticket price will only get you in the door, everything else is an upcharge. You can easily spend $50 per person and way more than that if you intend to do a couple of the very short encounters. Now don't get me wrong, it is cool to have these experiences, but at this cost it just seems greedy. Also, if you don't get here early you can forget about feeding the stingrays and fish because they will already be full and not have interest in eating. The place is horribly laid out and frankly even with the map it is difficult to find your way around. As far as positive things, the staff are generally helpful and some are quite knowledgeable. Once in a while there will be someone walking around with a large snake wrapped around them that you can pet. There are a few decent photo opportunities as well. All in all, this place has a genius concept and could be so much better if you didn't feel like they were grabbing for your wallet at every turn and if the signs were better.
Hi Rob, thank you so much for your constructive feedback. We will take this information to management and owners, to better address some of these issues you have told us about. Any feedback good or bad helps us improve ourselves. We are glad your experience for the most part were positive and the staff were so helpful. Thank you again!
Experiencia fantástica: I can’t say enough good things about our experience here! If you have any doubts about visiting it’s a must see! Tons opportunity to interact with animals - our kiddos had a blast! Huge shoutout to Travis in the marine department, he was so kind and knowledgeable - he really made our visit to the stingray exhibit one to remember!! 10/10 will return again and again!
Hello Hannah, thank you so much for your review and these great pictures too! We are so happy to hear you enjoyed your visit with us, and we look forward to see you all again!
Experiencia positiva: Visiting from San Antonio. It was really nice to be able to pet most of the animals. Staff in general were friendly and helpful. Brooke in particular was kind and helped with feeding Calypso, the octopus. She was kind and patient with myself as well as with my two grandsons. Also, the person with the penguins displayed exceptional customer service, both informative
Hi Kay, thank you fo leaving a review of your experience with us, so thrilled it was one you enjoyed with your grandchildren! Thank you for letting us know our staff was so informative and helpful too. Have a great week!
Experiencia fantástica: Everyone is friendly here and the atmosphere is just amazing. It wasnt too bad as far as parking. We parked in the next lot over and we had a little shuttle that took us back and forth. I loved it!
Hi Melinda, thank you for coming out to see us and for sharing a review too! So glad it was a positive experience for you here.
Experiencia fantástica: My wife saw this place in an ad so we decided to come see how it is. My kids love animals and fish so getting to pet and feed them seemed like an amazing thing that they would enjoy, which they did. They fed the penguins, the sloth, and the stingrays. Then they got to pet a starfish, the massive koi, and much more. I got to pet the octopus and even a puffer. We bought season passes because we were so impressed. We can't wait to come back.
Hi! Thank you for coming out to see us! We are thrilled you all had a great experience with us, and we hope to see you all again!
Experiencia fantástica: We visited Houston interactive aquarium for our son’s 4th birthday and it was great! All the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Travis is the aquarium area was super amazing and knowledgeable! It wasn’t overly crowded or expensive. We will definitely return!
Hi Bandie, thank you for spending your son’s birthday with us! We are so happy to hear you Al had a great time, and look forward to seeing you all again soon!
Experiencia fantástica: I had an amazing time at the Houston Interactive Zoo! The entire visit was fun but the highlight for me was definitely the aquarium experience with Travis. He was incredibly knowledgeable, engaging, and clearly passionate about marine life. Travis made the experience extra special by explaining the behavior of the animals in a way that was both educational and entertaining. He took the time to answer all our questions and even gave us the chance to interact with some of the creatures up close—which was absolutely unforgettable! If you’re planning a trip, definitely don’t miss the aquarium section and ask for Travis if you can. His energy and expertise truly brought the experience to life.
Thank you for your review, we are so happy to hear that Travis was so helpful, and made your experience that much better! We look forward to seeing you again!
Experiencia fantástica: Also throw your hands up for James. He was an excellent driver, cordial, patient and we were the last people there. He actually made amends to come back around and picked us up and remembered where my car was and dropped us right at the car. He's a marine biologist by education and so he has a lot of knowledge and I believe a very well-rounded guy. So I appreciate that people in working here teaching my child and I a lot thru even the car ride over.
Experiencia positiva: I had no idea this place even existed—but I’m so glad I got to experience it on a field trip with my daughter’s 4th grade class! From the moment we arrived, I was pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere was welcoming, the staff was friendly, and the animals were clearly well cared for. One of the highlights was that we were able to pet and interact with many of the animals—such a hands-on and memorable experience for the kids (and the adults!). I especially appreciated the option to purchase private time with certain animals just for your group. It made the visit feel even more special and personal. Highly recommend this hidden gem for families, school groups, or anyone looking for a fun and interactive day with animals!
Hello Brittany, thank you so much for your review, we are so thrilled to hear you enjoyed your visit with us, and look forward to see you again soon!
Experiencia fantástica: This place is such a hidden gem!!! Totally worth it to visit. I was skeptical at first but I want to come back now!!! The staff is soo friendly and the animals look very well taken care of. They even have African Penguins you can feed and interact with.
Hi Jay, thank you for coming out to see us and for sharing these pictures too! So happy to hear you had a great visit with us! We look forward to seeing you again!
Experiencia fantástica: They don’t call themselves the “interactive zoo” for no reason! I’ve lived in Houston my whole life and didn’t know this place existed until I had my son. Aside from him petting and feeding all the animals, the stand out was definitely the friendly and knowledgeable staff. They were all great!
Hello Mei, thank you for your review, we are so excited that you enjoyed your visit with us, and look forward to seeing you again!
Experiencia fantástica: Very cool interactive zoo and aquarium. I got to interact with so many animals, from koi fish to Bengal cats so many more animals. This place is giving the Houston Zoo and Aquarium a run for their money.
Hello Daniel, thank you so much for your review and great pictures! So happy to hear you had a great experience here with us!
Experiencia fantástica: Great selection of animals. Staff is very knowledgeable. The interaction with almost all of the animals is amazing.
Hello Christina, thank you for coming out to see us and for sharing your experience with everyone. We are so happy to hear it was an overall positive experience, and look forward to seeing you all again!
Experiencia fantástica: Our visit to the Houston Interactive Aquarium & Zoo was fantastic, and a big part of that was the exceptional service from team member Travis! His incredible knowledge, especially about the fascinating marine life exhibits, truly enriched our experience. He went above and beyond to answer all our questions with helpful and engaging information. We left feeling like we learned so much, all thanks to Travis! Our children absolutely loved the interactive elements of the zoo. Visiting at the beginning of May was ideal – the weather was pleasant, and we appreciated the many shaded areas that kept things comfortable despite the crowds being manageable. It made for a wonderful family outing.
Hello Van, thank you for coming out to see us and letting us know Travis helped you out for a great experience here!
Experiencia fantástica: We have had a membership here for the last two years and absolutely worth it, they are consistently updating the animals habitats and bring new fun stuff for the kids! Today Darren gave my daughter a card with credits when we were playing, my daughter was so excited. The employees are always so nice and informative! The best time to go during the week is after 2, when the field trips leave!
Hi Kylee, thank you for being members and writing a review for us! We are so happy to hear your experiences with us have been overall positive ones!
Experiencia negativa: We came around 1 pm and they had every pushed to park in the “auxiliary parking” due to buses being driven through the other lot. They also made me pay $5 to park while there was still plenty of space in the free parking. When I pushed back against this the girl at the lot rolled her eyes and was extremely rude. I spoke up when we entered and the excuse given me was that they didn’t want kids walking through the lot where the buses were being driven for “safety” yet the lot that we were forced to park in is not safe to walk either as it’s next to a very busy road. AND we had to walk through the parking lot anyways right by the buses. Seems like they were trying to make a quick buck. By the time we left at 2:30 there was no attendant to collect money. So either you collect from all or none. What a joke. It was also hard to find a worker to be able to have an interaction. At times we waited or just had to chase someone down. I have a membership and lots of credits and I don’t feel it’s worth it.
Hello Amanda, we are sorry for your visit not being a positive one. We do have a lot of field trips during the early weekday hours we are open. We will pass this along to management and see how we can make improvements for our customers. Thank you for your feedback.
Experiencia positiva: I visited the Houston interactive aquarium today. I loved it! The interactions with the animals that require points were great. They also had other things that the children could do that you didn't need credits for. The animals appear very loved and well taken care of. The only drawback that kept me from giving the location a five star review is the way the additional parking lot is. The entire parking lot is gravel with huge rocks everywhere. That makes it very hard to maneuver if you have a small child in a stroller, which would be expected at this type of establishment. So the only thing to me that could make it better would be for the additional parking lot to be paved better so that customers that have to carry children in strollers can navigate that better, other than that everything was great!
Experiencia positiva: Worst field trip i have been on. Line so long just to park... blocks Normal daily traffic. My kid got inside 40 mins before me. Someone should have been put front organizing the people so they don't just stand in the WAY at the entrance! Also my kids class has to sit on the floor to eat, each school should have a dedicated time and place to eat. So many people, just stuck. Don't sell tickets if you can't accommodate everyone. Surely it's a health and safety issue, wonder what the occupancy limit is.
Experiencia positiva: The facilities are great and the staff was friendly. The food court left some to be desired as the food was on the expensive side and not very good. It also took longer than needed to be ready.
Experiencia fantástica: I've been here before and it was not pleasant due to not being able to find staff or rude staff, but today was totally different. What makes it a good place is when staff members make it more interactive and talk to the guests , answer questions. Aubrey in the aquarium , the guy in the aviary with the birds, and the team member who was helping with rabbits and camels, they were awesome. My only complaint is that there's not enough staff outside or in the mammal/reptile house- they are hard to find if you want to do an encounter in those places. Lots of interactions today- the animals were awake and active. Suggestion- get there as soon as they open so you don't have to go to the overflow lot ; it gets packed super quickly on a Sunday.
Experiencia fantástica: I took my 3 year old granddaughter and we had so much fun. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. Very knowledgeable about the animals and eager to teach the children. If you want to utilize the bounce houses, there is a $12 fee if you aren’t a season pass holder and socks are required, available for purchase for $3. We visited on a Tuesday and it was school field trip day. It was very crowded until about 12:30-1:00. Plan accordingly Parking ️ If the parking lot is full, they direct you to make a U-turn and use the overflow parking lot. There is a $5 fee and strollers are extremely hard to push due to the big rocks. It is a short walk to the aquarium.
Experiencia positiva: My family loves this zoo especially the aquarium where you can feed and pet the sting rays. My only qualm is since it has gotten more popular over the years, things that were once included with admission now need credits so we can't do all we use to without spending more $$$.
Experiencia fantástica: Had a blast. My grandson loves the sting ray petting area!
Experiencia positiva: Nice place and plenty of hands on for kids. Uh the bad - BE SURE TO ASK FOR CLARIFICATION ON THE "CREDITS" the encounter stuff is kinda scammy..... meaning people are willing to pay for whatever but it's a bait and switch..... the parking......is before you turn in! They'll have a guy in fluorescent jacket keeping you from parking close, but you'll have to loop back around the interstate to be able to pull into the correct parking lot.
Experiencia fantástica: Took my special needs students on a field trip here. They were amazed with all the animals and aquarium. It's a wonderful experience for everyone. The place is small but full of things to do and see. Highly recommend visiting.
Experiencia positiva: It's an awesome place to take the little ones and maybe a cute date. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 start is because it is expensive. You need points for everything. The parking scared the crap out of me ..lol I thought my tires were going to pop with the rocks they have. Other than that, I had a great time.
Experiencia fantástica: We had a wonderful time at the interactive aquarium! We went to the arcade and met one of the nicest people I know! Rebecca D. Over in the arcade made sure we felt welcome and helped us with explaining. My three kids had a lot of fun in the bounce house and arcade. Rebecca made our day!
Experiencia negativa: no employees to be found anywhere when wanting to feed or interact with the animals it’s like they were playing hide & seek. some old man that was in charge of the giraffe seemed like he was taking a nap + had an airpod on and when walked upon he did not want to be bothered just looked plained fatigued and annoyed. Woman with the capybara looked like she was tweaking on drugs or something ONLY gave two minutes to interact with the capybaras and in a very rudely manner kicked everyone out right away. Save your money and go else where this place is too overhyped for what they claim to “offer”.
Experiencia positiva: We went on a field trip for my kindergartner field trip took three of our other young children. Overall it was an interesting experience, my children got to pet multiple different species of animals and enjoyed doing so. But if you do not have hundreds of dollars to pay for the extra experiences unfortunately you do not get to do a majority of what online makes it appear that you can do. For a more immersible experience I recommend to Houston aquarium for the overall cost and the overall experience.
Experiencia fantástica: Omgggg I had such a great time here! Came for my sons 2nd grade field trip and everyone enjoyed all the different animals! You got huge fish(I'm talking texas size lol),big tortoise which was my favorite,as well as the classic giraffe. Weather was PERFECT so we weren't uncomfortable walking around. They have a "arcade" type area with games along with bouncy houses but you have to pay separate for that! Would definitely return with just us as a family!
Experiencia fantástica: This place is awesome and pretty affordable in comparison to other attractions. The yearly pass is a great price and pays itself off in 2 visits. We had a great time and the staff were incredibly kind and informative. We got to feed the Patagonian Cava, Camel, Emu and Ostrich. Sooo many animals to pet and learn about.
Experiencia fantástica: Went with a friend as a plus with her pass. We had an amazing time! So much for the kids to do. My two year old had a blast at the aquarium and the arcade room (bounce houses). Even though the weather was not on our side, there was still tons of things to do indoor. Thinking about having his next birthday party here.
Experiencia fantástica: We came and visited from Austin, it was such a fun afternoon! We have a yr pass which is good at the sister locations so we took advantage of it! We will definitely come back! They have healthier options on all their snacks which is huge for us! Pleasant and friendly, happy employees make a huge difference- they are interactive and really made the experience fun today! Thanks!
Experiencia fantástica: Visiting from Germany we were actually very positive surprised. Feeding a turtle or holding a bird - everythings possible. Our 3 year old had a great time. Military gets in cheaper.
Experiencia fantástica: Loved the interactives but on a field trip don't buy credits. A lot of the exhibits wouldn't even let us participate because it was a "field trip". Another tip: bring cash. They have a surcharge on cards at every transaction entrance to food purchases. Other than the extra charges here and there, the experience for my grand was amazing. He loved the interactions he was involved in.
Experiencia positiva: It's really unorganized. I paid for my daughter to feed the giraffe but nobody knew where the line was, 25 people were all gathered around making the giraffe nervous and distracting him. It took him about 15 minutes to finally eat the food. We paid for animal food inside the aquarium but it got stuck in the vending machine and there is no clear explanation on what to do when that happens. I had to ask 3 people before we finally got help. They should only allow a certain amount of people in at a time because the whole purpose is to be able to interact with and feed the animals but if there are 100 other people around then the animals are either hiding or are already interacting with someone else. From a child's perspective, my 8 year old loved it. From an adults perspective, I would've appreciated more structure. The free exhibits are nice for those who can't pay, the ride to the front door from the parking lot is nice although I think parking should be included in the ticket price. And I paid $13 for my daughter to get a bracelet to do the bounce houses and then there was no attendant there to even check for bracelets so I saw a lot of people in there who clearly hadn't paid. It was also disappointing to see quite a few exhibits closed for various reasons, we were there for 3 hours and only one of those exhibits finally opened.
Experiencia positiva: Took my 3 kids: ages 9, 14, and 17. The ALL enjoyed the experience thoroughly. The only complaint was that when we walked into the first door, we were slammed with fish smell. I mean, that’s expected to some degree when there are open aquariums… but I think some strong air filtration systems could help a lot. All that said, it was an amazing time. We were there for about 3 hours and we didn’t even see everything. At one point, I was sitting on one of the many benches while the kids got balloons made and saw a worker coming by. I asked him, “hey, can you point us to the mammals?” The guy’s name was Travis. He said, “if you give me one second to finish this, I’ll do you one better and take you there myself.” WOW! We waited a few moments and sure enough, he came right back and escorted us to the mammals. When we finished there we ran into him again and he took us to the penguins (that we somehow missed at the front). It was, overall, an amazing day. Especially thanks to Travis. If you go, look for him- I think he’s in the aquarium section. Anyone would probably work- but he’ll definitely spend some time with you!
Experiencia positiva: I have been quite a few times now and have had a mix of experiences- some staff is friendly, warm and patient. Other staff not so much. Sometimes it’s hard to find someone to help you and it’s quite deserted for a while. Sometimes not. We have been for two field trips and I can’t say it was anything different than just going by ourselves. I was a little confused today while we are here. It closes at 7 and the place is completely full; however, the bird exhibit (very popular and affordable with points for a big family) has its last visit at 4:20. Not really sure why so early.
Experiencia fantástica: This place is a hidden gem! I will definitely be coming here more often to save on gas and time trying to get downtown. We went late Saturday and it couldn’t have been any better; we had the whole place to ourselves. Travis was EXTREMELY helpful. So generous with his time and knowledge to give us a great experience for the kiddos. The kids got to feed stingrays which was the coolest part for them. We also had Shevontae guide us anround the lemurs annd rabbits and honestly as a first time visitor they made such a great first impression of the zoo. Can’t wait to come back and go to the bounce house next time.
Experiencia fantástica: Such a great time! It was a great experience and was so fun to be able to pet animals i never would have before. staff was also very professional and friendly as well as attentive and always informed us with animal fun facts. I highly recommend checking this place out!!
Experiencia fantástica: We had the most amazing experience at this interactive aquarium! We decided to visit on a whim, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions we could have made. I expected some hands-on exhibits, but I was blown away by just how many animals we were actually able to touch and interact with! This place is incredibly kid-friendly and super educational. The staff is knowledgeable, welcoming, and clearly passionate about the animals. A special shoutout to Travis in the marine building—he was fantastic! He took the time to teach us all about the different types of stingrays we got to hand-feed, making the experience even more memorable. The variety of animals here is incredible! We got to interact with everything from lizards to lemurs, sharks to donkeys, and even chickens to giraffes. Feeding the koi fish and an octopus was such a unique experience! And if you’re on the fence about trying the fish pedicures—go for it! It was such a fun and unexpected treat. There’s so much to do and see that we couldn’t resist upgrading our one-time ticket to a season pass. We’re already looking forward to our next visit. If you’re looking for a fun, hands-on, and educational experience, I highly recommend checking this place out!
Experiencia fantástica: I went today with my bestfriend and her son, we had a great time thanks to Travis in the marina area he took great care of us and taught us so much about all the fish and marine life. He let us feed the stingrays and fish and made our visit so much fun! We will for sure be back again soon
Experiencia fantástica: We had an absolutely amazing experience at the Houston Interactive Aquarium! From the start, we noticed there were parking lot attendants stationed throughout, and even a tram from the overflow lot. While there were quite a few school buses, the crowd never felt overwhelming or chaotic. The staff really made our visit memorable. They were not only incredibly knowledgeable but also kind and patient with everyone. We had the pleasure of doing the sloth experience, and it was fantastic! We learned so many fun facts about these gentle creatures, and the experience was truly hands-on. We loved everything about the visit and can't wait to return. The attention to detail and the care of the staff really set this place apart. Highly recommend it for families, animal lovers, and anyone looking for a fun and educational experience!
Experiencia negativa: My family was looking forward to this trip all Spring Break. It was a great start until we got to the Giraffes. While leaving the aquarium area and going out doors to the giraffe’s my toddler started to cry. I quickly tried to comfort my toddler to see what was wrong. With not being outside for no more than a minute the gentleman working with giraffes starts to scream at me. I have never been so embarrassed and humiliated in my life. The gentleman had yelled “ can you move over there. ( pointing away towards the right side.) Your baby is screaming and I am doing a giraffe encounter. “ I was completely shocked. As a Mom we already have a lot on our plate. Especially when trying to deal with the overwhelming feeling of making sure our children are not disturbing others. To know this a place for children to visit. Then yelled at by their very own staff members for a child crying is absurd. We tried speaking with the General manager Paul who was no where to be found. Thank you to one of the supervisors Jack who tried to make it right. He was kind and listened to our frustration but by that time our entire trip was already ruined. If you are looking for a kid friendly environment this is NOT it.
Experiencia positiva: Go in the morning not the evening. This place is fun! It reminds me of the same aquarium they have in San Antonio. There are somethings here that aren't perfect but it still was enjoyable. If you go in the afternoon-evening you won't be able to feed all the animals because they get fed all in the morning and dont want to eat.
Experiencia fantástica: I enjoyed this place so much, can't wait to go back. This place is worth the price. I had a great time seeing all the animals there. I will say I was highly disappointed at the fact that I could not literally hold the sloth or any animal for that matter. One of the main reasons I went was because I thought I could. I paid $75 credits to my day pass so that I could pay 600 credits to go in with a sloth only to see that the rules say, I could touch their hands and backside ONLY. Needless to say I did not go in I spent some my credits on games, in the bounce house is with my niece and my nephew.
Experiencia fantástica: First time visiting with family and friends.. Had a Great time!! All employees were very knowledgeable and patient with everyone! Me and my family had a WONDERFUL time and probably will be back again!!!
Experiencia fantástica: Man what can I say...this place and the staff members deserve a raise and about 100 more stars. This was a last minute trip due to our original plans of going to the big bounce house of America being canceled. So my daughters said they wanted to go to a zoo. And I'm truly grateful we came across this place. From the very moment during our ticket purchase the young man was closing his window and opened it back up just so we could purchase our tickets to get in. He was extremely nice I thought it was hidden camera or prank how nice he was. But I discovered he is just a really nice human being/employee. You all did such a wonderful job with your hiring each employee we came across from the beginning to the end was extremely nice. And we came so last minute it was 7ish when came so we were rushing. I know how it is to have people come in last minute and wanting to go home but the staff was not rushing us at all. The sweet lady by the penguins where we go to purchase tickets was so wonderful and helpful as well not to mention the lady we passed by feeding the giraffe and the incredible sweet nice young with the goats she was feeding Simon at first she even allowed my daughters to go pet the goats. I mean I would give this place and the employees a million dollars each if I had it because they were so awesome and kind and caring did not rush us at all. As a single mom this really was the highlight to our mini vacation which we don't get to go to often because of my job and me and the girls are in school. This was our first trip to Houston and I must say the staff members located at this zoo make me want to move there and work for you all. I feel like I'd be happy coming to work everyday and leaving happy I can tell the staff members love what they do. Their interactions not only with the guests but each other was well respectful. We will definitely be coming back and sharing this wonderful experience with everyone. This place should be packed everyday with this awesome staff. I can't believe I'm about to say this but the staff here is better than Raising Canes and Chick fil a combine. The staff here would run circles around them with it comes down to customer service. Thank you all so much I which I remember their names but I know the date was March 15 around 710pm to 8 which is you all closing shift and the young man had on a dark green work shirt and the women had yellow shirts on I hope your able to find the staff members I'm talking about and give them a raise and take them out to dinner! They really do deserve it. Thank you all again for making our experience the best. We will be back. See you soon.
Experiencia negativa: We just went this Sunday my kids said it was boring. Most of the attractions are not even open. My kids wanted to pet the tucans and they told us no because they are in mating season and tend to get aggressive. It smells like a seafood market as soon as you walk in. Bathrooms unfortunately aren’t clean I went with my family and baby in stroller. Parking is horrible. Credits for feedings are expensive and you’ll loose them quickly honestly you are better at spending your money at the Downtown Aquarium than here. Just telling you our honest opinion. Not really worth the hype. You’ll spend a ton and regret it later. Go spend your money at the Downtown Aquarium it’s way better.
Experiencia positiva: Bought an annual pass online. They require you to cancel it in person. Only reason to do that is to scam you out of money (though, I'm sure this will change when the new FTC rule goes into effect in April). They already charge for the pass, then nickel and dime you to do a lot of the activities when you're there. The above two things suck, but I will say, it really is a great experience. You get to touch and interact with lots of kinds of animals. It's very neat, especially for kids. I edited this review to increase the stars after going in to cancel, and instead deciding to just keep the pass because of how much my daughter loves it, despite my moral objection to the annual pass cancelation policy.
Experiencia fantástica: We had a fantastic time! I just adore how you can interact with nearly all the animals—it's such a unique experience! The staff is not only friendly but also super knowledgeable about all the creatures. Plus, the kids had a blast burning off their energy in the bounce houses! Definitely worth a visit!!!
Experiencia fantástica: This place is awesome! Lots to see, feel and feed! The kids loved it and we didn’t even make it through the whole place. Definitely start early because it’s gonna be a long day and the kiddos will be tired by the end!
Experiencia positiva: This is a great zoo experience and I would recommend it. They have incredible employees like Audrey who helped us with the stingray swim experience who absolutely love their job and are great with children. He’s a gem. In fact multiple employees went out of their way just to be nice. However, There is a serious issue with the way the stingray experience is run and they actually have you change and shower in a “family” restroom that the entire public uses. Needless to say it is disgusting and truly ruins the experience of the swim. Imagine showering in the equivalent of a porta potty it’s like that and to make matters worse you’re cold when you get out and so you literally wait in line freezing with your kids to use the restroom because others are in it. This is an epic fail on the part of the management or owners to not consider bathing and public toilets a separate activity. Not to mention…. It’s expensive (think 50 a person) to do this activity. I would skip it next time and this was the e reason I did not go ahead and buy the season passes.
Experiencia positiva: Very cool place for me and my family. Staff was helpful and attentive. Some of the free interactive exhibits were not staffed, which was disappointing. However, everything else was great. Be prepared to purchase credits to enjoy the full experience. Spent about 2 hours here and my toddler daughter enjoyed herself.
Experiencia negativa: A great place to take the kids and as a family group, but can be pricey. Even with the annual.pass, if you want to feed and/or interact with the animals you have to make addition purchase. Also, most of the exhibits did not have a staff attending resulting in my kids not being able to engage with the animals they wanted. Oh and not to forget, parking is very limited, so you have to pay to park in a graveled lot. The one in San Antonio is much better.
Experiencia fantástica: Second time coming last time was like 2 years ago. Instead of coming early came later mid day around 2:30ish. A little empty not as crowded. Mr. Travis who take care of the horses was nothing but amazing. Waited for like a hour because the horses was on break, but he was very informative about the horses and they behaviors. He let us know if the kids not able to get a ride they might be able to pet them. One of the horses white one wasn’t feeling being rode on so he gotten the brown on. Overall great experience.
Experiencia fantástica: We absolutely love this place! Worth getting a season pass if you live in the Houston area. They encourage you to feed and interact with all the animals. Some animals cost additional to feed but there are so many ones you can interact with for free. Don’t be afraid to ask the staff if if you want to interact with an animal! They are always so informative and helpful! One of our favorite places to go!!
Experiencia negativa: Well so far tht I saw half of the animals weren't there said coming soon not worth 40 for one day pass food was expensive not what expected photos was deceiving not many animals to see had more fish than anything else . Day I went was extremely busy every one was pushing people not room to walk not much shade I was upset on the prices do to the fact half of park was closed and nothing to see . Don't get me wrong the animals n fish I saw was amazing jus not worth 40.00 for one day pass
Experiencia fantástica: Love this place!! Did an overnight here. The kids all had the best time. They slept in the bounce house room and got to watch a movie. The sloth and giraffe were favorites. Porcupines were cool and we learned so much from the guy who was in there caring for them. Brandon, who was in charge of the overnight, was awesome! He taught us a lot about the animals. I highly recommend parties or overnights here. Such a great time!
Experiencia positiva: This place was really fun for the kids, ages 2, 7, 10. The building looks small but the space inside is really sizable. Parking lot out front is small and filled up quickly There’s a bigger parking area down the road within walking distance but it’s unpaved and full of rocks. It cost $5. The kids got to touch fish, sting rays, octopus. They got to feed them and the penguins as well. The workers gave out free fish so kids could feed the animals. Their seahorses were my favorite. They had other animals you could look at and pet out the back including capybaras, kangaroos, emus, giraffes, pigs, boars, goats, and more. In a separate building, they have some video games and bouncy houses that the kids can play in. For the most part, you do have to pay for credits in order to pet the animals outside. But the workers were really nice. Would definitely recommend!!
Experiencia fantástica: The Interactive Zoo in Houston undoubtedly ranks among the top three destinations for families. Notably, despite our visit occurring on a weekend, there were no long lines to navigate. The staff were exceptionally accommodating, assisting us when I made an error during the online ticket purchase process. The opportunity for the children to interact with and pet the animals was truly enjoyable, and I appreciated the cleanliness of the facility, which maintained a pleasant atmosphere without any unpleasant odors. A standout experience was the snorkeling session, which proved to be the highlight of the day and was particularly memorable for the kids. Mr. Travis, who led the session, was outstanding—kind, humorous, and remarkably patient. I highly recommend visiting this attraction for anyone seeking a family-friendly outing.
