Experiencia positiva: These guys are really great! All the employees we came in contact with were extremely nice and informative. My wife is in a wheelchair, so it wasn't as easy to get around, but all-in-all, it was a great experience. We try to visit once a year when we're on the coast.

Experiencia fantástica: LOVE IT! so much fun :) the aviary was my absolute favorite

Experiencia positiva: Nice Aquarium but with it being outside you can’t see the seals, sea lions and otters very well because the glass is dirty. At other Aquariums there are downstairs areas to see better. When they do shows and the sun is reflecting off the glass, you can’t see anything. Most the exhibits are very nice and beautiful. Everything is clean and they do a wonderful job showing the recycling impacts on the environment.

Experiencia positiva: For the size and cost, I really thought the aquarium would have been better. The coolest part were the tunnels with water around you but the rest was just meh. the VR experience was really neat though. $99 for 2 adults 2 kids Food was a good price

Experiencia fantástica: Great experience for families. It was very well thought out for little kids. The tide pool touching station is perfect for little ones to engage for some hands-on learning. The plastic exhibit was interesting but seemed like it took up a large portion of the exhibit.

Experiencia fantástica: Small but fun! Many volunteers which were all very helpful and some really cool exhibits to see. You can probably get through the entire thing in a couple hours. Worth it for a while with kids especially.

Experiencia fantástica: Visted the aquarium recently for the third time since it opened in 1992. Love coming here! Wish I could visit more often. Something that I think has been added since my last visit is giant sculptures of sea animals made from garbage found in the ocean. The sculptures are amazing but sad at the same time because of what they are made of. The sea otters and seals are always entertaining and the underwater tunnel is fantastic! I could spend hours just watching the fish all around me. There is a lot to see and do here and I did not feel that the ticket prices were unreasonable. I visited on a Monday and it wasn't crowded.

Experiencia positiva: My children enjoyed it! The displays were cute. All the fish tanks were all well kept. Sadly no sea lions otherwise it was great. They even have a playground for the kiddos. There is a bit of walking, so wear comfortable shoes and bring a wagon for the kiddos! It’s also a bit pricey.

Experiencia positiva: Think it's the largest in Oregon. Fun with kids for sure. Touch pool, various small & large exhibits, under the sea passage to see Ray, sharks & more. Can be very crowded in weekends. Hope it's more affordable, at least for weekdays

David Langston 3 months ago

Experiencia fantástica: We have visited many aquariums around the country and the Oregon Coast Aquarium is equal to if not better than most. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and were impressed with the current showing of sculptures made from ocean trash. It was amazing the different creatures that have been created.

Experiencia negativa: We were so disappointed as no seals etc. Apparently they have migrated ...but no sign saying that. Paid alot to see exhibits and touch pool...oh and a crappy VR experience. Absolutely not worth the money

Experiencia positiva: Fun place. Bit expensive for my taste but they do Have a large number of exhibits so they need to raise money somehow. Lots of indoor tanks with a a large variety of marine animals.

Experiencia fantástica: The aquarium we visited was truly remarkable! We arrived just in time for the highly anticipated otter show, which captivated both kids and adults alike. The presentation delved into the fascinating history of otters and how these playful creatures came to reside in this particular aquarium. During the show, we witnessed expertly timed feedings and engaging discussions about sea otters, all of which were a delight to watch. As we continued our exploration of the aquarium, we were amazed by the incredible diversity of marine life on display. From the charming puffins, flapping their wings and diving into their habitats, to the sleek eels coiling through their tanks, and the graceful bat rays gliding elegantly through the water, there was something for everyone to marvel at. The entire experience is definitely worth a stop if you find yourself along the coast. It's an ideal destination for visitors of all ages, ensuring that everyone leaves with a sense of wonder and appreciation for the ocean's inhabitants!

Experiencia positiva: We attempted to visit the day before we actually visited and was told it would take an hour and a half for get through so we left and came back the next day. While it was cool the place is not big at all! We did everything twice in less than an hour. The tickets are a bit over priced and the gift shop was beyond expensive especially when you can go into town and find the same items for drastically less. However all that being said Im glad we went because it was an experience

Experiencia fantástica: Definitely a must-see staple of Oregon, being a local I don’t visit as often as I should, but it’s definitely worth it to visit with friends and family. I loved some of the updates they made, and the kiddos loved the sharks! Too many cool things to list. Ask about discounts too you may qualify for some. Enjoy!

Experiencia fantástica: The Oregon Coast Aquarium was a must visit! We were driving down the Oregon coast from Washington State, and we figured we would stop by the aquarium. So glad we did! All the staff and volunteers we interacted with were very polite and seemed to really like being there. The Shark tunnel was amazing and a MUST SEE. The octopus was awesome and the entire coral, starfish and urchin exhibits were great. Overall it was a wonderful experience, well worth the entry fee. At the end you can enjoy their gift shop and cafe! I would highly recommend the aquarium to ages of all kinds and families— we will definitely be back! Thank you Oregon Coast Aquarium!

Experiencia fantástica: An incredible aquarium, we got there just in time for the seal and sea lion feedings/talks as well as the one for the sea otters which both were awesome to watch. Then as you explore the rest of the aquarium there's lots of diversity from puffins to eels and batrays. Definitely worth a stop if you're along the coast

Experiencia fantástica: Almost as impressive as Monterrey Bay Aquarium without the crowds. I have been to many aquariums, but this one impressed us with its exhibits and large sea life petting zoo where you can touch sea cucumbers, starfish, sea anemones, etc. the very large octopus was my favorite; He was very active and a fine specimen to look at. The cafe here was quite impressive, the food was high quality and not crazy overpriced.

Experiencia fantástica: Pretty awesome aquarium with otters, sea lions, sea birds, and various fish/sharks/jelly fish. We got to see them feed the otters and sea lions which were pretty active and playful. The avian exhibit was really cool and you can watch the birds dive into the water. The aquarium glass tunnel section was the best part and you can see many sharks and fish swim above and below you as you go through it. They have a hurricane simulator thats pretty fun as well and a playgroundfor the kids.. Overall a really cool place. The food court is not bad either and the gift shop area was pretty extensive.

Experiencia fantástica: A small but extremely well done aquarium! The Sea Lion feeding was both very entertaining and informative! The walk through section was absolutely captivating and the aviary was an amazing way to see some birds up close that would be very difficult to see otherwise! I highly recommend stopping by this aquarium!

Experiencia positiva: I hate to give a poor review, but this aquarium was pretty lackluster for us. Driving down to coast and made a special stop in Newport for the night just to go to this aquarium based upon the reviews. Was in and out in an hour. The 2 otters were cool, and I saw puffins for the first time. But for $30 entry, per person, I wish we had skipped it.

Experiencia fantástica: While there was extensive construction during our visit in 2022 it was still a fun experience. Visited here soon after opening and the experience in 2022 was even better. As with most zoos and aquariums admission can be pricey but this is expected due to the costs involved. Absolutely worth visiting if you are on the central Oregon cost.

Experiencia fantástica: One of our favurite places to pay for on the coast! All of the staff and volunteers are super knowledgeable and friendly and eager to share their wisdom of the sea creatures. They have so much to observe I would recommend budgeting a couple hours of time to absorb all this aquarium had to offer, personally could stare at the jellyfish and octopus or sit in the tunnels of sharks for hours, they even have a petting zoo for the anemone, starfish and sea urchins!! I went many times as a child and now as an adult and I’m sure I’ll be back in the future.. if I lived on the coast I would get a season pass and hang out here whenever I needed a pick me up.

Experiencia fantástica: One of the better aquariums we’ve visited. Love the mix of indoor and outdoor exhibits. Plenty of knowledgeable, friendly staff. They do a great job of presenting the marine life in its natural habitat while also keeping a clean, modern aesthetic throughout. Plan at least three hours and be sure to check out as many of the live presentations as possible.

Experiencia fantástica: My little man enjoyed this. He even got to touch a starfish! A good time for a family. They offer a drinks station for the earlier times a hot coffee keeps you warm while touring around or a hot summer a cold drink of choice would be just right. We will be back when we visit again.

Experiencia positiva: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Oregon Coast Aquarium is an absolute must-visit! The exhibits are beautifully designed, and the marine life is incredible—the walk-through shark tunnel. Everything is well-maintained, and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. It’s a perfect spot for families or anyone who loves the ocean. I’ll definitely be back! I just wish the sea otters were out when we visited. :)

Experiencia fantástica: My husband and I absolutely loved this aquarium. So much to see and the staff and volunteers are awesome. Very knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating. We were also lucky enough to be able to participate in the octopus encounter. It was spectacular. There is also a coffee/snack bar and a cafe. Experiencia positiva: The price is more than fair to keep a large place like this up and running and animals cared for. However, a lot of the tanks were way too small or overstocked and you can easily tell most of the fish are depressed and lack hiding places and stimulus. Most just swim in circles and saw a lot of fish swimming at the bottom that were not bottom dwellers. This is true for most aquariums, but it’s never great to see. The vulture exhibit felt very random and unnecessary. Large flighted birds would need a lot more space. There were some exhibits with fake plants that just felt like a PetSmart, and some with absolutely nothing in them but the fish. The photos I added below were of the best and most stimulating tanks in my opinion, lots of live plants, hiding spots, and an appropriately sized tank. The exception to this is the jellyfish tanks, jelly fish have almost no awareness of their surroundings and don’t require stimulus. Most of the water quality was good, there were a few that could use a water change.

Experiencia fantástica: As usual, the staff were very informative and kind. Loved the sea otter and pinniped feedings and keeper talks. The exhibits were great but was sad that so many of them are under refurbishment, can't wait for them to reopen. Hoping to see a return of traveling exhibits in the future, once the buildings are reopened. With the closed exhibits it took about 2 hours to visit. UPDATE: Revised this past weekend. All exhibits have reopened. I now give it 5 stars. The updates are beautiful. Although I didn't take a lot of pictures because I was to involved looking around.

Experiencia fantástica: My wife and I visited on our honeymoon, as an aquarist ourselves. We appreciated every detail of every aquarium. I appreciate their aquarists master design of each Oregon themed aquarium. Learned a lot even for me. The staff was super friendly from the minute we walked in. Immediately greeted and was given a small introduction with the jellyfish and a walk to the map. Each room each employee was eager to show us there exhibit there in charge of. I came on a Tuesday noon. Not a lot of people but mostly couples from old to young. I would say 25 person reasonable. A lot of animals to take care of and there all really healthy.

Experiencia fantástica: We were here on Presidents Day. We arrived around 2 pm, and were able to watch the feedings of the Sea Lions and the Sea Otters. We then proceeded to Passages of the Deep, where we saw the Orford Reef, Halibut Flats, and the epic Shark Tunnel. We ended our visit with the Coastal exhibits and Jelly Fish. It was a lovely afternoon.

Experiencia positiva: The aquarium itself is kind of small and can be walked through in an hour or two, even with kids. But the real attraction, at least for my family, is the awesome natural playground. I think we spend more time on that than we do inside

Experiencia fantástica: My family had a great time here! We loved being able to touch the starfish and urchins. And we lucked out by passing by the skunk exhibit just as it started. They were super fun and cute to watch. I would love to bring my family back next time we're in Newport

Jon Misuraca 8 months ago

Experiencia fantástica: For an aquarium of its size, it's got a lot going on for it. The exhibits are well curated and designed. Those for an eye for aquaculture will appreciate the many exhibits featuring live coral/anenome as well as just the overall design. During previous visits the 'Connected Coasts' gallery had been closed but was open this time. I was very impressed with everything I saw as an aquarist and an average attendee, though I was disappointed the mangrove exhibit was all artificial mangroves when mangrove plants are easy to acquire and care for in most cases

Experiencia fantástica: This is a reminder that the Oregon Coast Aquarium has reciprocity with the Oregon Zoo! So your zoo membership will get you and your family into the aquarium free depending on the month. In 2024 the free month was November so I took my family. As usual we had a great time and especially enjoyed the touch pool. My oldest son spent nearly an hour in that room asking questions to the volunteers and learning everything he could. It was a great educational experience.

Experiencia positiva: Fun and educational for kids and adults! There is even an exhibition where you can touch some starfish, sea cucumber and more! The walk through exhibition is incredible! Experiencia fantástica: We had an amazing experience at Ocean Coast Aquarium! The exhibits were well-curated, showcasing a stunning variety of marine life in beautifully designed tanks. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly, providing great insights and making the visit even more enjoyable. I especially loved the interactive displays and the touch tanks where you could get up close with some of the sea creatures. The atmosphere was calm and educational, perfect for both adults and children alike. Highly recommend for anyone looking to learn more about marine life or just enjoy a fun and informative day out! Five stars all the way! Note: I would recommend wearing a jacket during winters because most of the viewings are outdoorsy.

Kelsey Clyde 11 months ago

Experiencia negativa: This aquarium is way overpriced for what it is. We paid $60 for two of us. It is a mostly outdoor aquarium however, there is a lot of walking around but most of it is plants and things like that, not aquarium animals. There are a few that you can see but not 60 dollars worth.

Breanna Halliday 11 months ago

Experiencia fantástica: We recently had the pleasure of visiting the Oregon Coast Aquarium, and it was an unforgettable experience that beautifully showcases the region’s rich marine life. Located just outside Newport, the aquarium is not only visually stunning but also deeply educational. As you enter, you’re welcomed by an impressive array of exhibits that highlight the diverse ecosystems of the Pacific Northwest. One of the standout features is the Passages of the Deep, an underwater tunnel that allows you to walk through a giant tank filled with mesmerizing fish, sharks, and rays. The immersive experience of having these creatures swim around you is truly awe-inspiring. The exhibits are thoughtfully designed, with plenty of informative displays that provide insight into marine conservation and the unique species found along the Oregon coast. The sea otter exhibit is a personal favorite—watching these playful animals interact with each other is both entertaining and heartwarming. Additionally, the outdoor habitats, including the seabird aviary and the sea lion exhibit, offer a great view of these animals in a more natural setting. The aquarium is also dedicated to conservation efforts, and it’s evident through their educational programs and outreach initiatives. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about marine life, always willing to share interesting facts and answer questions. For families, there are plenty of interactive activities, including touch tanks where kids can gently interact with starfish and other tide pool creatures. The café serves a variety of delicious, locally sourced options, making it a great place to take a break and enjoy the ocean view. Overall, the Oregon Coast Aquarium is a fantastic destination for anyone visiting the area. It offers a perfect blend of fun, education, and a commitment to conservation, making it a must-visit attraction on the beautiful Oregon coast. Highly recommended!

Experiencia positiva: We had a nice time, but the outdoor experience with the seals and otters was by far clearly the original focus. The newer indoor/underwater aquarium experience was cool, but it didn't have much of a variety of species and want very cohesive. Overall the place was just small and not as advertised. ...I mean turkey vultures?

Lucy Q 11 months ago

Experiencia fantástica: Such a fantastic aquarium! A wide range of exhibits in a beautiful setting that is easily walkable. The staff were amazing, everybody we encountered was knowledgeable and provided excellent customer service. Special shout out to the gentleman working at the coffee shop near the entrance today, and the volunteer at the touch tide pools, can't remember either of their names but the volunteer had 3,000 hours of service. Every exhibit is interesting and well thought out, with lots of informative signage. Many exhibits have a volunteer in the vicinity who can answer questions and provide information. The puffins were super cute, so were the sea otters. The touch tide pool was so much fun, even for middle-aged adults! Of course the undersea tunnel was absolutely fascinating as well.

Experiencia positiva: It is pretty, the underground water tunnels but overpriced for a few exhibits with seals and birds and the water tunnels. Gift shop is outrageously overpriced and you have to pay to rent mobility devices if you are disabled? 20.00 i think that's disgraceful to charge on top of 30.00 to get in.

Krissy Kollmer 1 year ago

Experiencia positiva: I would give this a 3 and a half if that was possible, but 4 works. Really nice place, clean, pretty, animals looked healthy and cared for, and staff scattered around to answer questions. I feel like the price is a bit high for what it is. It's not crazy high for what it is, but $5-10 cheaper would be a more reasonable price, in my opinion. There was going to be a bird presentation, but it got canceled, and the other small amphitheater didn't have anything scheduled for the day we were there. One of the aquarium galleries was under renovation/construction (which happens but still took away from the experience). We had a good time and it was a nice day. Definitely don't regret going, but I also won't be in a big rush to go back for a while. If I had young kids, that might change things. This part is not the aquarium's fault at all and doesn't affect my review for it, but... to the lady who decided to block the small aquarium with the pretty yellow fish, don't hog the entire thing for 15-20 minutes trying to get a picture with your phone. Other people want to see, too. I don't even know what they were because we couldn't see through you. Sharing and taking turns is kindergarten lessons.

Experiencia fantástica: This is a very nice aquarium. I really like that most of the facility is outdoors, as opposed to indoors like in Texas. It was so cool to see how a Halibut swims! We loved watching the puffins up close. This is definitely a place to bring the kiddos!

Experiencia positiva: We enjoyed our visit to the aquarium. The price is a little high for the size of the aquarium but the money goes to a great cause. Part of the area is under construction. We spent several hours there. We enjoyed the tunnel and seeing all the various sealife. The aviary was great to visit. If you have kids they will love it and they have a playground. We visited here years ago and enjoyed it then too.

Adam DeLain 1 year ago

Experiencia positiva: Had a good time. The staff is always kind and informative. The price is little high at first glance but the money goes to a good cause for ensuring the animals in the exhibits have the best quality of life and further research at the Hatfield Marine Center. There are several high lights in the Aquarium from seeing the seals and sea lions zoom by in there area to the passages of the deep and going through an under water tunnel. Also there is a place where you can touch some of the sea life like starfish, sea urchins, and sea anenames. An Awesome stop for those who aren't already coastal folks.

Experiencia positiva: Beautiful grounds, clean, and all of the animals looked happy and well cared for. Probably great for kids, but as an adult, it took 55 minutes to see everything, including reading all of the exhibit literature. It's quite expensive for what you get, but I could easily see this being five stars if the price were $5 lower or if there was more to see.

Experiencia fantástica: Had a ton of fun with the kids. My favorite thing is finding the octopus! But the seals and otters are always fun to watch! They have touch pools which are nice and the people who work there are so knowledgeable about the animals/sea creatures. It's great to talk with them and learn about all they have to give.

Experiencia fantástica: What a great way to spend an afternoon! My 3 year old cousin loved it! There were so many fish and animals to see. The fish tube was probably the coolest part, he would have stayed in there all day. They have an outdoor playground that kept him busy too! Birds and bigger sea life outside, big open area to walk around. You could definitely spend hours there!

Experiencia fantástica: Medium sized aquarium with many local species. For a less-crowded experience, try one of the "special" options (each available for an additional fee). We enjoyed the back-stage tour and also touching the moon jellies.

Experiencia fantástica: Went on a class trip there and it was amazing, didn't know you could see so many types of fish in one place in Oregon

Experiencia fantástica: I like this place a lot. I have been to many such places: Honolulu, SF, Seattle, Monterey and this place has also great attractions. I liked the otters and the seals/sea lions here, also the sea star area is very interesting. The shark aquarium is also great. It is definitely worth a visit!

Experiencia fantástica: Not a lot of exhibits open but there's improvements on the way and the open exhibits are rather neat. Good place to take the kids to learn about the local flora and fauna

Experiencia fantástica: Such an awesome place, so worth the visit. My son is a seal fanatic and never thought he'd ever get the chance to see a real one. He left one happy little boy with incredible memories made

Experiencia fantástica: I’ve been to several aquariums and this is definitely the best one I’ve visited. All of the exhibits allow you to get up close to aquatic animals and plants. The touch pools are huge and are filled with vibrant anemones, sea cucumbers, and starfish you can interact with. My family loved the shark tunnels and the birds exhibit with puffins. The staff is very friendly and informative. The aquarium is great for visitors of all ages.

Experiencia fantástica: Loved the otters. Their food was pretty good too. They also had a gift shop with some pretty good stuff in it. Pretty cool aviary that they had with seabirds. Overall the place was fun. Would Recommend!

Experiencia fantástica: We visited the aquarium while on vacation as a family with my 17 year old and 15 year old. I had recently had one surgery and we were able to rent a wheel chair easily. Both of my teenagers had a fantastic time and we would absolutely return. Especially unique was the way the tanks surround you at this aquarium, making you feel immersed in the experience as the fish swim all around you.

Experiencia positiva: Plan for a 2 to 3 hours visit. The aquarium is fun for children and it isn't too big where your kids will get tired. There are 4 immersive tanks with different fishes to keep you entertained. The shark tank is pretty neat. There's also a touching pool where you can feel the texture of various ocean friends like starfish and sea cucumber. My favorite is the tufted puffin enclosure. You get pretty close and there isn't glass between you and the birds. As mentioned above, this is great for children. It can get annoying if you're a group of adults trying to ignore the screeching and yelling. Bring noise canceling headphones. Tickets are roughly $28/person.

Experiencia fantástica: It is always a great time going to the aquarium! Very educational and the demonstrations with some of the animals are amazing! Our favorite was the tunnel! We had a baby stingray follow us from one end of the tube all the way to the other! Such an awesome experience!

Experiencia fantástica: The Newport Aquarium is an absolute gem! It offers a wide variety of aquatic animals that mesmerize and educate visitors of all ages. The tide pool section was a standout experience—being able to touch starfish and anemones in a designated area was both thrilling and educational. The interactive spaces throughout the aquarium are incredibly fun and informative, making it a perfect destination for families. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, enhancing the overall experience. With both indoor and outdoor spaces, you can enjoy the exhibits no matter the weather. Convenience is key here: there's a cafe for snacks, a gift shop for souvenirs, and well-maintained bathrooms. The entire facility is wheelchair accessible, and they even offer strollers and wheelchairs for rent. Plus, the parking is completely free! The exhibits truly immerse you in marine life. Our favorites were the majestic sharks, the adorable shrimp, and the fascinating swimming scallops. A visit to Newport Aquarium is a fantastic adventure into the underwater world. Highly recommended!

Experiencia positiva: I've been to this aquarium twice. The first time was in 2013. On this visit, in summer, every exhibit was open, and the crowds were not too intense. I would have given this a clear 5 stars. The crowds when I went on this past Wednesday absolutely impacted my experience. There were plenty of staff and volunteers around, but I saw stressed animals, particularly in the exhibit with the birds. I saw parents and grandparents encouraging very young children to approach birds by running at them and trying to grab them. The tunnels are really cool and remain my favorite. It was so crowded that I was unable to even enjoy this part. This is a pretty small, but nice aquarium, but this most recent visit I did not feel it was a good value.

Experiencia fantástica: I had an amazing time here. It started pretty bad dealing with the front/ticketing people. But I let it go and didn't want it to ruin my trip. The sea lion were following me around, showing me their tricks, maybe because I was the only one around since closing time was soon. The otter wasn't bothered by my presence. I took a great video of the octopus getting out of his hiding spot. The workers in the exhibit were awesome. They taught me many things about star fish, different types of them and how to touch/feel them. You can touch them. It was the best thing. Thank you so much!

Experiencia fantástica: I absolutely adore this aquarium! I make an effort to drive to visit at least twice a year from portland and it’s always a good time. The touch pool recently got remodeled and I was completely stoked to see how much more it had to offer comparatively to other years! The volunteers are rather friendly and some of them are really lovely and were great to talk to about the animals. Will definitely be coming back a couple more times this summer! Thank you guys for the amazing effort to create such a great experience!
