Experiencia positiva: Very nice Zoo! They were under construction when we were there, so we didn't get to see the entire facility. But from what we saw the animals are well cared for and loved.

Experiencia positiva: The Rosamond Gifford zoo has clean grounds, large, well maintained exhibits, is reasonably priced, and very accommodating for field trips, families with young children, and those with disabilities. You can walk the entire zoo in a couple of hours, and a few exotic finds will have you itching to come back. Highlights: They have a great number of animals and some gems that you can't find in most smaller zoos. The elephant exhibit was the favorited by far! Getting to see baby elephants splash in a pool was an amazing experience and most in our group could've spent the entire day just sitting and watching them. The viewing area accommodates larger crowds with easy access for all. The animal health centers were different and a nice variety for those who like to see "behind the scenes". There was ample seating throughout the entire park, and a lot of shade on paths which was great for a hot day in June! Room for improvement: Many areas were not clearly labeled. We happened to randomly spot the red wolf while traveling from exhibit to exhibit but it was hard to tell where his territory stretched as the enclosure marker was hidden. There were a few exhibits like that, where even with a map, it was unclear what we were supposed to be seeing. Due to fears of avian flu, nearly all of the birds were not on display, which was noted on their website and completely understandable. The biggest issue was that many outdoor exhibits at the entrance seemed empty but were not labeled, so we were trying to figure out if they usually housed birds, or if there was something else to search for... a lot of time and frustration could've been avoided with simple signs telling us what we're missing out on or could hope to see. Finding the nocturnal exhibit was also confusing, and although the light is supposed to be minimal for these night-loving creatures, some of the exhibits had zero visibility, which was disappointing. Food options: there was only one restaurant which was so crowded around lunch time that sticking with snacks from home was the best option to get through. Bring your own lunch from home just in case! The gift shop had a nice selection with better quality items than many other zoos, and everything was affordable. All in all, it was a nice, inexpensive 2 hour long adventure with a few awesome exhibits. Definitely worth a trip if you're in the area... (Maybe after the avian flu passes)

Experiencia positiva: A Modest Zoo Experience in Syracuse The Rosamond Gifford Zoo in Syracuse offers a rather modest zoo experience, likely constrained by the city's size. While the facility is commendably clean and well-maintained, a significant portion of the outdoor exhibits felt empty, with many displays either lacking animals or featuring creatures that were simply not visible during my visit. Having visited numerous privately owned zoos, I found the animal collection here to be less extensive, and the display quality somewhat lacking in comparison. While the cleanliness is a definite plus, the overall impression is one of a zoo that could benefit from more visible animal inhabitants and more engaging exhibits to truly captivate visitors. It's a pleasant enough spot for a brief outing, but those accustomed to larger, more diverse zoos may find it somewhat underwhelming.

Experiencia fantástica: Fantastic exhibits, not a boring moment was spent in here. Great variety of every species from fish and amphibians to tigers and elephants. I don't go to too many zoos but this is probably one of the best in this part of the country. Admission $9 for adults and tons of value for that $9, will be coming back

The exhibits are really clean and up to date. I liked the cleanliness of the zoo and the walking. We also enjoyed the Leopard, Elephants, Penguins, and the Camel exhibit. Enjoy .

It was a wonderful experience for everyone. Burnet Park is a favorite park. And a beautiful peaceful place to go.

Experiencia negativa: The zoo is clean but I been there more than three times and is very poor from animals. They have enough space to bring more animals. The zoo is a part of the Gem of Syracuse and it is needing to bring more animals to kids really enjoying. Hope one day they can have much more because they really have the space and money.

Experiencia positiva: I understand it was early in the season, But half the exhibitions were closed. A portion of the other exhibits didn't have full functionality. There was alot of wasted space. One tank which looked to be beautiful inside had some big stickers on it making it so you couldn't see the fish. You could tell they were there, but not see them. They seemed more worried about "woke" policy than actually providing a good experience at the zoo.

Experiencia fantástica: The boys (2yr, 3yr) love coming to this zoo. It’s a perfect little loop outside to see the animals and then a couple exhibits indoors closer to the opening. We’ve enjoyed the food in the cafe and dippin dots when the weathers nice. We always bring a double stroller and have not had any issues navigating around. Usually spend around 1-1.5hrs roaming through. Highly recommend!

Experiencia fantástica: We went on a Monday! It was quiet. All the animals were out and active. You can tell they are taken care of! Penguin is an absolute star and was interacting with our kiddo for quite awhile!

Experiencia fantástica: From one mother to another.. we go MULITPLE times a year. The kiddos love it, and each time we go its so beautiful and clean and nice. Sure the winter months are a lil cold.. but that's when the red pandas be out and the wolves too. 20 out of 10 would recommend visiting especially if out of town. Actually a must if your out of town or not from around here. The spring is nice and the summer... well the zoo definitely puts on events for all ages to enjoy. Keep an eye out for some of the statues that go up sometimes too. The dragons were amazing.

Experiencia positiva: First time at this zoo today. It was a decent size and nice to see elephants. Two stars taken away because of the small enclosure for the leopard. The leopard was pacing by the glass and looked very irritated. I’m sure it’s due to the smaller area it has. Posted pic to show its enclosure. That made me sad. The tiger also had a smaller area- if you ask me, but def more room than the leopard. The bird areas were closed due to a bird flu which was posted on the zoo’s website. All in all, it was a good day trip for us. Not sure it’s worth seeing twice though. A positive- the enrichment for the animals seems well done. Especially for the Patas monkeys.

Experiencia fantástica: This zoo has the perfect balance of outdoor and indoor exhibits that made going in winter very enjoyable. We spent about 3 hours, going slowly at a comfortable pace. There were no crowds, and it was very quiet. My kid loved checking out the vet clinic play room! I can't wait to check it out when the weather warms up too!

We bought my daughter and son in law a season pass to enjoy with their one year old. I hadn't been to the zoo since our kids were young, and I still enjoyed it even though many animals were not available. For a one yr old's experience, it was good enough. Very enjoyable day.

Experiencia fantástica: Wonderful experience at Rosamond Grifford Zoo! Lots of animals and great info provided on endangered species. We were excited to see penguins and wolves, which we haven’t seen in any other zoos. The jellyfish were mesmerizing to look at. The layout is so amazing, we went there for the first time and the zoo kinda led us in the right direction without having to ask anyone or missing any areas.

You can easily cover it in 90 mins, unless you're with kids/picnicking, etc. Animals we saw: Tiger, Leopard, Elephant, Black bear, Penguins, birds/walk-in aviary, Flamingo, a variety of Monkeys, Bactrian Camel. Lacks a collection of Reptiles.

The aviary building had to be my favorite, lots of exotic beautiful birds with a pond and lots of plants. I'd definitely recommend and would visit again.

The mini vet office was adorable also and my daughter loved it. Staff is also very welcoming and nice! Loved the hot dog stand also. Also love their support for the military by offering free entry for service members!

Experiencia fantástica: We came to the zoo on a rainy day, and it was an EXCELLENT experience. It's easy to see many of the exhibits from indoors, and most of the larger enclosures also had viewing areas with rooves. The animals did not seem to mind the rain, and it was easy to see anything we wanted with no crowds! The animals also seemed very well cared for. There were many staff members giving talks, and we were able to learn a lot about the penguins and sloths this way. My 4 year old was able to walk all day without complaint, and the cafe had a variety of food choices, including vegetarian options. If we lived closer, I would love to have a membership here.

We didn't have to queue when we went in, we bought tickets inside and soon started our visit. The design inside was great and the visit was not tiring, but I think I will come back again.

Experiencia fantástica: I've been to this zoo twice and loved it both times. Our family recently visited from Canada, and we loved seeing all the animals. Most of the enclosures were fairly big, and we saw a lot of keepers putting in items for enrichment. We love the variety of animals and that you can learn about each one if you take the time to read the information in front of the enclosures. When we visited, it was HOT, so we absolutely LOVED and greatly appreciated the misting stations so we could keep cool. This zoo isn't huge, you could definitely see everything at a leisurely pace in 1 to 1.5 hours, but again, the variety of animals was great. There is PLENTY of seating, indoors and out, and there's a nice little cafe you can order a quick lunch. Last but not least, the price is right. Honestly, they could probably charge a little more, but we do appreciate a good deal, and visiting the Rosamond Gifford zoo was an absolute STEAL. Thank you for an amazing visit, and thank you for being a zoo that clearly cares for the wellbeing of the animals in your care.

Experiencia fantástica: excellent zoo. they put a lot of focus on both local and global conservation and the importance of ecosystems. they also have great animals, that didn't seem unhealthy or stressed. one of the best zoos I've been to in terms of well cared for animals and species variety. we also got super excited to see the huge koi!!!

Experiencia positiva: There are quite a few zoos around in Syracuse but we decided to visit Rosamond Gifford. It's kind of funny that the zoo is right next to a neighborhood of houses, versus in Toronto where you have to trek further to visit the zoo. This zoo is about two hours to finish and I really appreciated the layout, which was easy to follow without missing any attractions and/or needing to go back and forth. Lots of the animals were very lively like the monkeys, tiger, and penguins. Their elephant area is also spectacular! The way they have made their viewing areas are also very well done as they were where the animals tend to like to rest and/be present. The animals looked very well treated and well-kept, for example, their donkey which didn't look ratchet like some other ones I've seen at other zoos. One of my favorite exhibits is their nocturnal area which was a bit of an "eye spy" experience. There's lots of parking in their lot.

The sloths, in particular, were amazing and definitely a highlight of the trip. The enclosures were well-maintained, and the animals seemed healthy and well-cared for. Experiencia fantástica: I went as part of a conference. We had the zoo all to ourselves and was provided a clambake dinner that was made by an all female chef crew! The staff we kind and helpful. It's a nice zoo on the smaller side so it's not an all day affair. I don't live locally to Syracuse, but if I did I would definitely buy a seasons pass. It's nice and relaxing just to walk around and enjoy. They also offer a 5 course themed dinner once a month. I would go back to experience that.

My one complaint is that there are no gluten free options if you want to eat there. All but one of the food places were closed even though it was the weekend so perhaps one of those places had gluten free options.

The gift shop was also very affordable which I wasn't expecting. There were several different types of exhibits throughout the zoo. Overall I was very impressed! Will definitely be returning! Ticketing prices were also extremely affordable ($9 for adults and children 2 and under free) however unavailable to purchase ahead of time online.

Experiencia fantástica: Fanatic zoo, and the perfect size for a family with small children! We're about to go on our 3rd year of being members. My oldest is 2.5, and he has a blast every time he goes. Sometimes, on rainy days, we go for an hour just for the inside exhibits. We also love their events, like trick or treating at the zoo and breakfast with the Easter Bunny.

Very well kept grounds with beautiful spaces for animals. The staff was friendly and helpful, ample parking and bathrooms with water fountains. The shop was great and so was the coffee shop, the only bummer is that they ran out of iced coffee. Lovely zoo!!!!

Experiencia positiva: Some of the enclosures seem kind of cruel, but the zoo itself is nice. Definitely great for kids, but I wouldn’t give them your money otherwise. It’s zoos like this one that need to be shutdown! Their tiger enclosure was super small and there was nothing in the enclosure for the tigers other than trees. They also had the tigers separated. Also, they had about 10 flamingos in a super tiny room. There was almost no room for them to move around. As I said, great for families and kids, but you should avoid funding this place if you can.

Experiencia positiva: Very nice and small zoo. Although its small and does not have an extreme amount of animals it does have some cool enclosures where you can get a close up look of the animals! I especially like the elephant enclosure where we were very close to the elephants. They apparently have twin elephants too!

Experiencia positiva: A simple basic zoo that is good to go to when you want to just relax for the day. I do wish they had a petting area for the goats, and more birds in the inside area. Prices to get in are decent but be prepared for the high food prices and being forced to use a kiosk (no cash).

Experiencia positiva: This was a lovely way to while away a few hours on a grey but temperate Saturday. There were a fair number of visitors but no lines or crowds. Admission is already pretty reasonable but also is reduced in January and February, so a regular adult ticket is just $5. The animals for the most part seemed to have decent space and enrichment, although the fennec fox in particular looked distressed and confined. The elephants have a good size space though they were all inside the pavilion when we visited. The loop path is a nice walk and accessible for mobility aids. There were a lot of benches along the way for resting as needed. The cafe is adequate for a quick snack, and the gift shop had a great selection of stuffed animals matching the animals at the zoo.

Experiencia fantástica: Affordable tickets that still allow you to experience a range of animals. Kudos for being the only zoo we have visited that does not force you to exit via the souvenir shop!! There is an indoor section & an outdoor section. Depending on weather, some animals will be in one or the other. Many type of monkies so good chance you will see at least one of them doing their shananigans. Penguins, Elephants, Camels Tigers, Bears, Komodo Dragon, Sloth & what not. Remember that most animals are out during cooler months so don't hesitate winter visits.

Experiencia fantástica: I love this zoo! Great size, good mix of indoor and outdoor exhibits, and lots of active animals. I have a membership and it’s for sure worth it. The weekends can be busy with kids but if you go close to closing time then you can avoid most of the gremlins.

Experiencia fantástica: Awesome little zoo and well worth the trip from Ohio as the first stop of my upstate NY zoo tour. Parking is free and the admission is extremely low compared to other zoos I've experienced. Food is priced in line with other zoos, which is never cheap. If you're a penny pincher, pack your lunch. Grounds are clean and well maintained. The layout is a fairly easy walk with some grade but, considering the contour of the area, they did a great job keeping it easy walking and designing the habitats on the slopes. There is a great staff here, both volunteer and paid, and are very engaging and knowledgeable. It was a pleasure interacting and learning from them. The habitats are well designed to incorporate the topography and give the animals variety while trying to emulate their natural environment. USS Antiquities is a pretty unique layout of several habitats just inside the entry which continues into a nice walk-through aviary and nocturnal area. They have some very rare species like the red wolf, blue crane and white-lipped deer. Of course, a big part of my day was enjoying Yaad and Tuk's antics, who were on habitat from 11 - 3. They spend time with their mom and grandma in the smaller yard because they aren't ready to conquer the pool yet so, while they've explored the big yard under the close observation of all keepers before public hours, they keep them in the 'safer' area when fewer eyes are on them. The tiger cubs were, unfortunately, off habitat because baby girl was being a little over zealous and needed a time out so they were behind the scenes for a few days for her to recover. I assume she suffered some minor mishap in her playing in the woods. If you see the habitat, you would understand how she would get in trouble...it's very steep with a lot of 'opportunity' to tumble, fall and roll. Dad was out, though, and he's beautiful. A first encounter for me was the Armenian mouflon. Unfortunately, couldn't get a shot of the ram. Made several passes but he just wouldn't stand up for me so just saw the top of his very impressive horns. Overall, a great medium sized zoo and a great way to spend a day or a couple hours.

Experiencia fantástica: Rosamond Gifford Zoo is an amazing local zoo. Animal husbandry is excellent. A variety of animals from a variety of locations are seen. To add to their contribution to the community, the Zoo also has numerous community engagement and education opportunities, a catering department to host events and wedding - imagine a wedding with penguins swimming as you say your vows! Rosamond Gifford Zoo prides itself on having staff and volunteers that fully represent the diversity found in our community.

Experiencia fantástica: What a great little zoo! Clean, very well maintained, loved how geared it was towards kids' interactions with the environments. It's a small zoo, but it feels big! The grounds are beautiful. Loved the penguins and ducks. I didn't take many photos because we were too busy running around. Clean, accessible bathrooms and a nice cafe accompany the zoo. We didn't get to see their tiger because she'd just had babies!

Experiencia fantástica: We love to come and visit this zoo when we can. It’s a day trip for us since it’s an hour away. But it’s nice to see some different animals than what are at our zoo.

Experiencia fantástica: I hadn't been to the Zoo in quite a while, so when we had the Koala and the baby elephants, I had to go! It was so much fun walking around and seeing old and new exhibits.

Experiencia fantástica: We went to see the koala and twin elephants. We maintained zoo with quite a lot of animals. A few hours enough to visit all parts of the zoo.

Experiencia positiva: the kids enjoyed the zoo. it took us just about 2 hours to see all of the exhibits. I felt like there were quite a few exhibits that were empty and under construction, etc. I'm not sure if the penguin enclosure is supposed to be completely covered in algae and dead fish but it was when we went, which made the under water viewing nearly impossible.
