🗣️ Zoológico de Akron: Opiniones
Experiencia negativa: Used to be a great zoo packed with animals and exhibits at every turn. Now they’re building the different areas and there’s a ton of wasted space. Seems like 75% of the exhibits are birds and animals we see in our backyards. The gardens used to be lush and colorful and now it’s just an overgrown, unkempt area. We used to go once a month for years as Cleveland zoo members. It’s been 4 years since we made it down but likely won’t waste the gas anymore.
Experiencia fantástica: We love our zoo! The membership offers so many benefits and we get to see and learn about such unique animals. We got to see the newborn white cheeked gibbon! Akron Zoo takes such good care of their animals and guests we cannot recommend them enough.
Experiencia fantástica: Great little zoo. It took us about 2 hours to completely go through this zoo. I love how they have workers at every animal exhibit to answer any questions about the animals. It has 2 places to eat one being a sit-down fast meal and the other being a snack shop. They have a train and a carousel both of which we did not experience. A playground with a slide that goes through the otters' exhibit. There's only 1 steep hill but a sign directs you another way to go to avoid the steep hill meaning you would go down it instead of up. Parking is not a hassle. Staff are friendly and the park is clean
Experiencia positiva: This zoo was a nice surprise. It’s clean, the food was good, and it wasn’t crazy expensive like most zoos. It’s smaller than usual, so don’t expect a huge place—but it’s still a good time and worth the visit.
Experiencia negativa: Was visiting from Houston, TX with my daughter. It was not worth the price. If the dinosaurs were not at the zoo I would have asked for my money back. We saw no animals and the train ride was horrible. You were looking at dead grass and trash cans. Very disappointed since I had heard great things about this zoo.
Experiencia fantástica: This zoo makes great use of a smaller space compared to others in the area, and it’s a fantastic experience. It’s usually not too crowded, and the animals are often active and easy to see.
Experiencia fantástica: The family had never been to the Akron zoo. The directions were good and got us there easily. The displays of the animals were good and it was easy to get around. We had a good time.
Experiencia positiva: This zoo is pretty small but it's very clean. Lots of places for kids to take breaks and play on equipment. Lots of great viewing areas for the animal exhibits. Clean bathrooms and plenty of places to grab a drink or a bite to eat. It's pretty hilly so if you're pushing or pulling someone around it might be tiresome. Overall loved it
Experiencia fantástica: This is one of the best Zoo's in the region. Smaller but mighty, educational & diverse exhibits. Lots of up close viewing. Beautiful grounds, well maintained, even a kiddie farm & dinosaurs for the kids! We spent a lovely day here, lots to see without feeling exhausted. A real Gem !
Experiencia fantástica: We are Akron Zoo members and love the convenient handicap parking and easy access getting around the zoo. For the first time on Father's Day we had lunch at the zoo and it was delicious. My burger and fries were excellent and the nuggets and chicken strips were enjoyed by my wife and grandson. Well done and made for a great experience. .
Experiencia fantástica: Been there so many times and even in the highest record attendance of Mother’s Day had a great time and didn’t feel overwhelmed. Great staff that always had a smile and loves on the kiddos.
Experiencia fantástica: Took the grandsons. Great experience. Big enough, but not too big. Very clean. The boys loved the dinosaur experience..
Experiencia fantástica: A superior zoo in the heart of Akron. It's so well curated. The staff are excellent. The price is reasonable. It's absolutely a must see experience.
Experiencia positiva: Zoo was fine... Staff made me feel extremely uncomfortable and unwelcome
Experiencia fantástica: The Akron Zoo is a great place that my family and I visit every year. It’s not too big, which makes it easy to get around, especially with kids, but it still has a great variety of animals—lions, tigers, bears, and more. One of the things we really enjoy is how close you can get to the animals. The staff is usually out at the exhibits, sharing facts and answering questions, which adds a lot to the experience. There are also plenty of places to sit and eat lunch, so it’s easy to take a break and enjoy the day. Definitely a fun, family-friendly zoo we always look forward to visiting.
Experiencia fantástica: This zoo is awsome so many animals and different things to do. This is good for all ages and is different from most others zoos. As an animal lover seeing how they have so many areas designated to animals habitats is cool. They take very good care of the zoo no trash or mess anywhere.
Experiencia positiva: Kinda pricy and lots of hills to climb . We did see a bear and 2 wolves. So many of their animals were at the vets. We enjoyed their gift shop and cafe. Next time we are going to Cleveland zoo.
Experiencia fantástica: Wonderful visit. Have not been there for over twenty years. What a beautiful renovation. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Prices are reasonable. We had a great time with our five year old granddaughter.
Experiencia fantástica: Nice little walking zoo. Good variety of animals. The price to get in is very affordable. Great way to spend an afternoon with the kids.
Experiencia positiva: The layout is a little confusing an cramped. The owls need a building altogether of thier own! Other then that a great weekend trip from Avon Lake with the family. Also, my first time seeing a Octopus
Experiencia fantástica: Clean, well organized, easy walking, amazing exhibits gave mini-Disney vibes. Really enjoyed it and will absolutely visit again
Experiencia fantástica: Smallish zoo, but the kids love it! The penguins and petting zoo were favorites. Staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. Will go again!
Experiencia fantástica: Such a great place for my 2-year-old! They usually have an animal missing or two but they have some activities that toddlers just love!
Experiencia fantástica: Very nice zoo. Pretty laid back and plenty to see and do.
Experiencia fantástica: We had a great time with our grands ( 1 and 4). We went for the Fairy Fest, not expecting very many people - boy were we wrong! The place was jumping! But was still able to get around and see the animals.
Experiencia fantástica: It's a smaller zoo but perfect for toddlers and younger kids !
Experiencia negativa: I just really don't appreciate when my six year old has a toy and walks in between the doors of the gift shop and walks back in only for a staff member to ask him directly if he paid for it. He's six, has autism and was already over stimulated by the 140 people trampling him during our visit. He was scared and didn't know how to answer because he just started talking not long ago and it was just so insulting. We just got memberships and kinda regret it already. Oh and we DID pay for the toys.
Experiencia fantástica: Had a great time with our children here. There were so many different animals and exhibits it took us a hours to go through the entire zoo.
Experiencia fantástica: I had a wonderful day with family, it was Mother's Dauy 2025. It was my grand som, his wufe, my three great grandchildren and my daughter The perfect beautiful day to go to the zoo.
Experiencia fantástica: What a great zoo! If you’ve been to zoos all over the world, The Akron Zoo is charmingly different. Akron uses space so well. So many animals can be viewed at ground level, eye level, and above you! It’s not a giant zoo focused on hundreds and hundreds of animals. The animals they do have like grizzly bears, Komodo dragon, tortoises, etc…. Seem very content in Akron. So content they play with visitors through the glass! I’ve seen a Snow Leopard before. I’ve not seen one who just came walking up to the glass to check everyone out! It was amazing! Worth a special trip!
Experiencia fantástica: The Rise & Shine Safari was FANTASTIC! It was amazing to see some of the animals "behind the scenes". Our tour guides were wonderful & made it a great experience. Afterwards, I walked through the zoo and it was a great day. The zoo gardens were beautiful and nice to spend some time relaxing in after a busy morning. Definitely worth the trip.
Experiencia positiva: Disappointing trip. My first time there with my kids and wanting to see the big cats and they were not out. I am handicapped and there are lots of hills to climb but not very easy for wheelchairs or for the people pushing. The zoo has been advertising the dinosaur exhibits with eight moving Dino robots. They were not moving, nothing exciting to learn or see about them. On a good note, the place was decently clean for having many school groups running wind. The Cafe food was decently good.
Experiencia fantástica: We’ve been going to the zoo for years! It’s always a blast! Always clean! And always seeing or learning something new!
Experiencia fantástica: I love this zoo, it's not the biggest, but it's always a great experience. I come at least twice a year.
Experiencia positiva: Went in the same day as the Renaissance faire and it was really packed. A better system for allowing people in would be nice - especially if you pre purchased tickets. I love the exhibit set up. You get to see the animals from a variety of angles.
Experiencia fantástica: Wow, there are lots of changes since my last visit. I love that they keep growing. It was a great day. Parking was a little rough, but they had a special event the day we went. Love the dinosaurs!
Experiencia fantástica: Have went for Mother's day 2 years in a row. Probably one of the busiest days they have and still had a good day at the park! Easy to walk through plenty of places to stop and rest. Parking was full but overflow parking is just down the road.
Experiencia fantástica: Great fun always and just the right size for a beautiful Akron day!
Experiencia positiva: The zoo is great but gets four stars because it is largely uphill when going to the back of the zoo. For people with mobility issues, bring an electric scooter. You won't regret it. Animals seem well cared for and when we went, there was a ren faire and the participants were all having a great time. Not our first time there. Definitely going back.
Experiencia fantástica: My family and I went during their Dino event and on a day where there another event going on. It was amazing, but very busy! Everyone was so kind and helpful, food was good (I recommend mac and cheese bites) although the nachos were a bit overpriced for what you got, and the grounds were very well kept. If you have mobility challenges, I recommend renting a scooter or bringing a mobility device, there are a lot of hills and going up can be challenging.
Experiencia fantástica: Went here for the Renaissance Fair. The zoo itself is beautiful with great exhibits. The Renaissance part was also great with blacksmithing tutorials and great vendors! Will be back again next year if that host again
Experiencia fantástica: Great zoo. Even though it's on the smaller side of things, the animals still have plenty of space. My son really enjoyed the carousel. The dinosaurs being scattered throughout was a nice bonus.
Experiencia positiva: We love coming, but the bumble bees are tormenting my toddler. She screamed the whole time today, and we’ve been members for years, but it was never this bad. I’m curious if there’s a way to draw them away from the buildings, and put them in the back of the park. It’s so bad. They are dive bombing and fighting/mating like crazy
Experiencia positiva: We went on Mother's Day. It was so overcrowded, it was hard to enjoy ourselves. It's a smaller zoo, and we'd been before and, but this time it was so overcrowded, it was not a fun time. Many of the animals were sleeping or you couldn't find them in their enclosures. Will never go again on a holiday weekend. We had a membership so we didn't have to wait in line, but we arrived when the zoo opened, and the line was humongous already for buying tickets.
Experiencia negativa: Half the zoo is birds lol. Basically a bird sanctuary We got in free because of Mother’s Day, thankfully. If I had to pay I would’ve been super disappointed; almost every animal wasn’t there. No monkeys, no gazelle, no otters, no snow leopard, etc. Don’t advertise these animals if they aren’t there! They did have Ohio birds, penguins, coyotes, farm animals and the grizzly bear at least. The “rainforest” area was the coolest part in my opinion, definitely recommend it! The huge octopus and the jelly fish were super unique and beautiful to look at. Overall it was an okay experience, I wouldn’t pay $20/ticket. Cleveland zoo 10/10
Experiencia positiva: My family and I went here on mother's Day. My mom broke her foot so we obviously needed an electric scooter ( which was an easy and fast process) so we decided to go two hours early due to it being first come first served. But honestly if there weren't such an awful amount of rude people there I would have made it five stars. There were just way too many people.
Experiencia negativa: Most of the animals weren't even out. Super crowded. No walk room. Some cafe were closed, and no place to buy a drink without waiting in another 20 to 30 min line. I recommend going to the Cleveland zoo instead.
Experiencia fantástica: We usually come during the offseason but decided to check out the new Dinotrek exhibit. As it is mother's day and day 2 opening, it wasn't to bad of lines to see the animals. There was a line to get in but it moved fast. There is a dino show but we missed it. I think it is hourly. My daughter liked the animated dinosaurs. Its a smaller zoo, but perfect for our 3 year old.
Experiencia fantástica: The zoo itself is nice expect to spend a couple hours at least. It is a smaller zoo compared to zoos like Cleveland Metro Parks zoo. Otherwise I find no issues.
Experiencia fantástica: It's a small zoo, but it has great educational exhibits and very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Go early. They're only open until 5:00. There is some uphill walking. The Dinotrek shows are great.
Experiencia positiva: Only thing that would have been nice was a beer. We came on a Sunday & all the kiosks were closed. Lovely zoo, lots to see. It is open, so bring an umbrella if rain is coming.
Experiencia fantástica: Always a good time seeing the animals. It was even a rainy gross day but we still had a lot of fun. The staff has always been super friendly. We love the otter exhibit and the slide.
Experiencia fantástica: We love the Akron Zoo. It isn't too much walking for those that have trouble. They have a good variety of animals with nice habitats. The food in the Cafe is good and reasonably priced.
Experiencia fantástica: This zoo is just the right size for smaller children, perfect for an afternoon trip. Variety of wildlife from different parts of the world. The cafe is air conditioned which is nice on a hot day, with cold and hot snacks. Zoo is accessible for wheelchairs and strollers. There is even a “comfort room” near the cafe which would be great for nursing mothers. Tickets were $16 day of, but there is an option to purchase tickets online ahead of time and save money.
Experiencia fantástica: It is a nice small Zoo that is laid out very nicely. The only problem we had when we went was that none of the drink machines were working. The only place for anything was the Cafe. So, if you go right at the beginning of the season, make sure you bring your own beverage, or make sure you stop at the Cafe before continuing on.
Experiencia fantástica: Great zoo tucked in a neighborhood. There's hardly any wait and you can visit the whole thing in a couple of hours. All the animals seem happy and well cared for
Experiencia fantástica: Small zoo. Lions, tigers, bears, Komodo Dragon, Galapagos Giant Tortoises, octopus, jellyfish, large carousel, many various kids activities.
Experiencia fantástica: Had a lot of fun. Perfect for my 3 year old niece.
Experiencia fantástica: Absolutely amazing place!! Whether you want to bring your family or go by yourself; the zoo is welcoming, and affordable. Food isn’t too expensive, really cool interactive experiences (VR), and the animals all seem to be in good health. Clean environment, delicious food, and friendly staff. 10/10 recommended!!
Experiencia fantástica: Took my son and we both had a blast. The animals are all close enough to see clearly. Getting face to face with a lion is not an experience either of us will forget.
Experiencia positiva: This zoo is on the smaller side, which makes it perfect for younger children. It is reasonably priced, and the food court is affordable.
Experiencia positiva: Was a beautiful day for a roadtrip so we decided on the Akron Zoo which is a little over two hours from us. It's not a very big zoo, probably smaller than the Cleveland Zoo, and maybe a bit bigger than Living Treasures in New Castle,PA. It was laid out well and had all the usual exhibits. I'm assuming that since it was still early in the year is why the food stands were not open. The main restaurant was, but the line was too long, so we didn't get a chance to try it. There was a carousel and train also. If you want to spend a couple of hours for a reasonable price this is a great choice.
Experiencia fantástica: With exceptions of a few exhibits, very pleased of the strides this zoo has made over the years. Just another reason to be proud to be from Akron
Experiencia negativa: March is a terrible time to go. There isn't anything open. Also all the animal exhibits are very poorly taken care of. Its a square fence with a lion in it. Terrible. Honestly the zoo should be shut down. The bears were locked in a small area with barley room to do anything. Its sad. They should give the animals to Cleveland and call it quits. The part that was Farley decent was the aquatic area and the over priced gift shop.
Experiencia fantástica: Small but action packed. The wolves and coyotes had a howl off while the grizzlies ripped open logs to get their snacks. The goat feeding area is hilarious while the inside aquarium area is peaceful and refreshing. 10/10
Experiencia fantástica: An awesome experience! The admission fee was very low. The zoo was clean and not too much walking between exhibits. All the staff was friendly and informative. There is also a wide variety of different types of animals. It was our first time there, but can't wait to go back and see the landscape in the summer. Highly recommend it!
Experiencia fantástica: A Great Local Zoo with Heart, History, and Fun for the Whole Family We’ve been Akron Zoo members for over 10 years, and it’s one of our favorite places for a family outing. The zoo has grown and improved a lot over the years—adding new exhibits, animals, and events—but it still keeps that manageable, easy-to-navigate feel. Whether you want to spend a full day exploring or just pop in for a quick visit, it’s the perfect size. There’s a solid variety of animals here, and what really stands out is how active and engaged many of them are. It’s not uncommon to see animals interacting with guests or just being generally playful, which makes each visit feel a little different. While around half the animals are birds (which is noticeable), there’s still a good mix of mammals, reptiles, and more. Our kids always love coming here, and the zoo really goes above and beyond with its themed days, seasonal events, and educational programs. It’s clear that a lot of thought and care goes into making the zoo both fun and enriching. Whether you’re a local or visiting the area, the Akron Zoo is a great way to spend a few hours—especially if you’re looking for something kid-friendly, affordable, and full of heart.
Experiencia fantástica: The Zoo is so nice ! Much bigger now. Great family fun. A lot to see and do
Experiencia negativa: I took my family here on a free day we had, and let me just say the kids have never been so disappointed in their life. Was very small, no animals were outside, the animals that were out were suppressed in small units , I was actually more disturbed than happy. Once the children saw the red panda and saw her freaking out because she only had so much room, we took the exit and left. Very distraught for this zoo to even be open. Go at your own expense.
Experiencia fantástica: Akron zoo has had so many beautiful changes since I had last been there. The layout is very accessible to visitors. We went during off season and everything was very clean and the animals were very well taken care of.
Experiencia fantástica: One of my favorite memories from childhood are of going to the zoo. I found out I'm going to be a grandma this summer, so I got a membership to the zoo. I went this afternoon, even though it never reached 30 degrees. I had a ball. I cannot wait to go so many more times.
Experiencia fantástica: Fun experience for a smaller zoo. The staff was friendly on a cold day.
Experiencia fantástica: We went to see the Christmas light display.. The lights were very enjoyable.. we even got to see several animals.. wish there was snow it would have been prettier. We stopped at an eatery on site and got snacks and a hot cocoa which was so welcoming since it was rainy and freezing.. can’t wait for spring so we can return for the animals.
Experiencia fantástica: Went for the Christmas lights this year. Some animals were out, and the light displays were beautiful.. Overall, it was a fun time and worth the money.
Experiencia fantástica: Edit to update January 2025; still 5 stars of course. We went mid day in a Saturday and saw quite a few active animals! Lions were roaring to each other and being cute, otters were swimming, goats all came out to see us, and of course the snow leopard was pacing. It was so calm and quite that you got to hear so many animals! Something howled for a bit, the eagles called out, and many other birds were making noises. It was a really cool experience and I'm glad we went in the winter! The cafe was open to get food and everything was very clean as usual. They had the snow cleared and salt down to avoid ice. A few workers out and about were friendly and offered fun facts to the kids about the various animals. If possible, go on a week day right at opening. Most animals were out and very active! We had so much fun. We got through the zoo in just under 2 hours, but we didn't stop for the carousel or train ride or feeding goats or any extras (but we didn't hurry). We brought in water and easy snacks, and we have a membership because it pays for itself after 2 uses. Even with a corporate event happening, there weren't crazy crowds or wait lines, it's very easy to space out and get through things. Don't skip over the Gibbons because the baby is so cute and FULL of energy! We will for sure be back so many times, and I'm glad the birds are out again!
Experiencia fantástica: We have been members for 10 years and it's truly a gem of Akron. It really pays to be a member if you live in the area. They put on a lot of neat events and it's the perfect length for smaller children. The birthday parties are great too. We love our zoo!
Experiencia fantástica: We always love going here, summer or for the Christmas lights! This year was the most magical. My sibling got engaged!
Experiencia fantástica: Smaller than Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, but...possibly... better? Akron Zoo was such a manageable size; I wasn't worried I'd turn my head, and one of my kids would go missing. They had amazing up close encounters with their animals! Best of all, everything seemed so AFFORDABLE! They're "souvenir" cup (not reusable, but the largest size you can get with free refills) was only $6!!! Definitely worth the hour drive and will for sure be back.
Experiencia fantástica: Highly recommend hosting your child's next birthday here. It was so easy, affordable, and fun!! Our birthday package came with zoo entry tickets for our guests, 2 pizzas, snacks, water & fruit punch, gift cups for the guests, a big birthday sign, and a covered canopy with 5 picnic tables + 2 covered food tables. It was perfect for 11 adults and two kids. The event staff was so friendly and excited for us. (Shout out to Kim and Sam!! ) And the zoo was fantastic as always. It's the perfect size, not too overwhelming to walk the entire thing and we never got lost. All the animals were out, despite the cloudy humid weather, and there were so many fun stops for the kids to slide down slides or take fun pictures. We're excited to come back and so thankful we chose to have our daughters birthday here.
Experiencia fantástica: Love this zoo...been visiting for years, love seeing the improvements, the additional animals in beautiful enclosures. Up close viewing areas. Friendly staff. Feeding the goats, great zoo!
Experiencia fantástica: We were visiting from Michigan and our Ohio family snagged us free tickets to this zoo. Very small compared to our Detroit Zoo but still enjoyable. Great for people that don’t want to walk around a big zoo, however there are elevated parts with hills. Perfect for the little kids to run around and make the best out of. The inside part was pretty cool too! If you’re looking for something quick to do with the kids this is the place ;)
Experiencia positiva: Beautiful zoo with beautiful animals, the kioskals wasn't open that was a bit sad but the the restaurant (Komodo kingdom cafe) was worth it.
Experiencia positiva: A smaller zoo but tons of animals and birds. The staff was super nice when there and very knowledgeable about the animals. We talked to the staff at the lions for about 30 minutes. The animals were all mostly out and easy to see. Only downside to me was that the paths didn’t flow very well and was worried about missing a section. I love when the paths flow from one another and get to see every area without having to worry.
Experiencia fantástica: Can view most animals easily, a lot of shade. Website is not always current on pricing and hours. Food and drink prices are high, but normal for zoos.
Experiencia negativa: Honestly giving it 1 star isn't my choice. If zero was an option, that would be my choice. Should have had an idea by the fact that when we pulled up, it was like a ghost town! Let me preface the rest of this review by saying I'm a traveler and have visited a TON of zoos and other animal facilities. So, I decided to check this place out with my fiancee because we were passing through and what a waste of time and $30. Not only was there almost nothing to see in a good portion of the enclosures but the animals we could see mostly looked to be in pretty bad condition. The enclosures themselves weren't great either. To make matters way worse, EVERY SINGLE concession was closed claiming staffing issues. So you couldn't even get water anywhere around the park except the cafeteria. And it was empty in there with the exception of about 20 employees. Explain the staffing issue when there looks to be employees just standing around hanging out inside? No, they were not working the cafeteria. So there were no concession stands open (oh except a face painting station) but there were water machines and soda machines placed around the park...buuuut guess what? NONE of them worked. Yes we tried every single one because we were super thirsty walking around. So, barely anything to see, bad conditions of enclosures and animals, and no concessions for even water! What an entire waste of money and time. This was by far the worst zoo I have ever been to. Honestly, I'm not even sure how this place is still running. And no I'm not just some disgruntled person mad about something that went on there lol. I'm just a normal person who has seen a lot of places giving an honest review. Please don't waste your money here. If it was free and you were bored...maybe...or honestly maybe not even then.
Experiencia positiva: It's a zoo... That's about all I can say, it's not bad but it's not great, the enclosures feel neglected and sad almost, and many of the animals weren't out and about which is reasonable because the weather was very humid and hot when I visited. Honestly I've seen better zoos, but I also feel like it could be much worse, hence the middle-of-the-road review here. It's good for kids, but as an adult, I don't really think I would go back unless it received a major overhaul
Experiencia fantástica: Great staff. Engaging and knowledgeable about the zoo, species and SSP. Don't hesitate to spend time chatting, even about areas not within their expertise. Well designed habitats. Good visibility for the most part though, as a photographer, shooting through mesh is impossible and shooting through glass is always challenging. I do prefer zoos who manage to creatively avoid both and give the illusion that barriers don't exist. Akron Zoo has the handicap of limited acreage so it's more of a challenge. Terrain can be a little challenging, especially for those with mobility issues as most of the pathways are inclines. Not steep but not many flat spots either. Appears the entire zoo is on a hillside with habitats constructed on the slope. Lehner Family Gardens is a beautiful asset and I nice spot to take a break. Good variety of species with some unique critters. Loved the nocturnal building. Though most people think it's just bats, there are several species to discover. Their population of Seba's short-tailed bats is impressive and I can't say I've seen them at any other zoo that I can recall. Was especially entertaining to hear the people as the keeper was in with them, hosing off the bat cave walls. Andean condors are impressive close up with their wings spread. Jaguar and snow leopard are beautiful. Red panda exhibit gives a unique perspective from tree level, instead of ground. The fact that they have a coyote habitat is cool considering this species is much maligned and persecuted by humans just because they were able to outsmart us and survive among us. Don't overlook 'Curious Creatures'. Unfortunately, the red wolf habitat was closed, hopefully for a good reason, like new pups, and not something unfortunate. Several kid oriented activities well spaced throughout the zoo. Do wish they had more in the way of scheduled presentations/enrichments. Overall, while I would not consider this an all-day experience, it was a nice way to spend the morning and early afternoon before the drive home.
Experiencia fantástica: Akron Zoo: A Scorching School Day Our school trip to the Akron Zoo was a mixed bag. The scorching heat made it challenging to enjoy the day fully, with many animals seeking refuge from the sun. While the Caresol provided a refreshing respite, the excitement of seeing lions and tigers up close was dampened by their sleepy states. The monkeys, however, were full of energy, providing some much-needed entertainment. Despite the weather, the zoo offered a unique learning experience, but perhaps a cooler day would have been ideal for optimal animal viewing.
Experiencia fantástica: Awesome light show. Great activities for the kids. Carousel, train ride, s'mores making station and characters walking around. Great price. Set up of the zoo is great with the layout. Plenty of animals and hands on experience for children indoors and so much fun outside! We really enjoyed the light show and went back summer of 2024. There's a lot to do for children that is hands-on. They have a carousel and train ride, $2 and $3 and an interactive shark experience for $7. Prices are not high for the venue. Gift shop had a lot of items $10 or less.
Experiencia fantástica: It's a really small zoo but lots of stuff to see and a lot of people teaching you about the animals also
Experiencia fantástica: The Akron Zoo was an enjoyable experience, with a diverse range of wildlife and sea animals. There was plenty to learn and be entertained by throughout the zoo.
Experiencia fantástica: We went to their Tigers & Tequila event after park hours and had a great time! They had a training session with the tiger and we received free food/drink vouchers for attending the event. One of the vouchers was for beer, however, one person in our group had celiac disease so we asked for a replacement drink since all beer has gluten and initially they said just water but then the manager flagged us down and offered us margaritas in a can. We were very pleased with the service of the staff, thanks for catering to our needs! It was pleasant going after hours because it was less crowded and the animals were becoming more active towards night time. Here are some of the pictures from the night!
Experiencia fantástica: I came here on a field trip for my zoology class. It was really fun! It isn’t a huge zoo so you don’t have to worry about a lot of walking. It is fairly small, but lots to see. There is a slide that goes through the otter exhibit and I thought it was the best thing ever! This is a great place to go on a field trip and only takes about an hour and a half to see everything.
Experiencia positiva: Overall it’s a nice zoo that’s improved a lot over the years. The only issue I have with it however is how the older exhibits at the front of the zoo are small and not yet renovated. The newer exhibits to the park like the Lion and Gibbon areas are lush and spacious while the older lemur exhibit for example is dark and cramped. I hope they’ll be able to improve their older exhibits someday.
Experiencia fantástica: Took our four grandchildren, ranging from 1 to 9 years old. We brought our own stroller. This place is walkable, even on a hot day. Habitats and enclosures are well maintained and the animals are within easy viewing distance. Plenty of free parking in lots. Only objection is that there are amusement park rides scattered throughout which have extra costs and make children discontent with "only seeing animals". Gift shop is enticingly arranged.
Experiencia fantástica: It was incredibly hot, but this little zoo was really great. Most of the animals were sleeping understandably so, but we were still able to see them really close up cuz of how it's all set up. The highlight was seeing the lemurs and the slow loris. The slow loris seems to like cell phones. He was real curious about it.
Experiencia fantástica: This’s first time visiting this zoo! It’s beautiful from inside and outside! Not too big place to walking, but you can see what you want! Very clean and convenient for wheelchair! Shading and paving paths make you enjoyable in the zoo! The entrance room is very unique and the gift shop really draws visitors’s eyes! Will be back again ❤️
Experiencia positiva: Even though this is a fairly small Zoo compared to some of the ones that I have been to it still has a lot of great features and Exhibits. Unfortunately when we came the Aviary was blocked off however all of the other exhibits were open. The staff was very friendly however many of the amenities were closed due to staffing issues so I cannot fairly rate them on their service. Hopefully this is something that gets resolved soon, and I hope I can return at some point. However I would still recommend a visit to the zoo.
Experiencia fantástica: This is a great zoo for little ones. It's relatively small and not over crowded. There's tons of fun things to do but not so much it's overwhelming for toddlers.
Experiencia fantástica: Very nice zoo with natural-feeling enclosures and a wide variety of animals. A bit on the smaller side which is perfect to kill an hour or so. Really loved the wolves!!!
