Experiencia positiva: Every Wednesday the aquarium is free! 2 hours from 3:00 p.m. until closing 5:00 p.m. You must book in advance online. Otherwise it's very nice.

Experiencia negativa: I grew up in Brooklyn. Such fond memories of my dad taking us there. I went today after maybe 20 years. I was so disappointed. Mostly everything was closed or in repair. The indoor exhibits smelled like fish. The outdoor show was over in 10 minutes. Not worth the trip up the ramp. So sad!! Someone needs to spend money to restore. I will not be back was not worth the $35 admission fee.

Experiencia fantástica: I thoroughly enjoyed taking my 14-month-old daughter to the NYC Aquarium — she absolutely loved it and didn’t want to leave! The entire place was spotlessly clean, and the exhibits were engaging for both kids and adults. The only downside was that the touch tank exhibit was closed during our visit. Parking was $25, but it was conveniently located and just steps away from the boardwalk, which made the day even better. Highly recommend for families with young kids!

Experiencia fantástica: Took my daughter to the NY Aquarium last weekend and honestly? It was one of the best decisions I made for her birthday. From the moment we walked in, her face lit up like she just met Ariel in real life. The sea lion show was a big highlight—funny, well-timed, and interactive enough to keep kids locked in. The shark exhibit? Crazy! It’s dark, moody, and immersive. My daughter was both terrified and fascinated (perfect combo for memories ). She kept saying, “Daddy look! It’s like we’re underwater for real!” Place was clean, staff was helpful, and even though it got crowded, it didn’t feel overwhelming. You can tell they put effort into making the experience family-friendly. The boardwalk and beach right outside gave us a nice little spot to chill and snack after. ️ Price was fair, especially with the memories we made. ‍ Dad tip: Bring a towel or light hoodie—those indoor exhibits get chilly. Overall: 9/10 Would 100% go back. Especially if your kid’s into animals, oceans, or just wants to spend real time with you. Worth every second.

Experiencia fantástica: My staff, friends and I have been to this aquarium many years ago and had a wonderful day this was because saw sealion show, sharks, and other animals. The animals were sleeping or swimming around. There were many people inside the aquaium, also had lunch there.

Experiencia positiva: It’s ok. It’s my second visit, and I was again shocked at how crowded it got. We arrived at 10am and there were a TON of people the entire time, making viewing indoor exhibitions challenging. I can’t imagine what it looks like later. The kid facing area (playquarium?) is cute for little ones. The sea lion/seal show is very short for the amount of hype they give it and there is no shade in the exhibition area. Ultimately, I think this is something fun to do at the beginning of a day at Coney Island- but I wouldn’t make a special trip for it- it’s expensive and not very big.

Experiencia positiva: I visited here back in 2020 and it was top tier—very clear water, healthy fish, and well-maintained tanks. However, compared to then, I noticed that some of the fish tanks, especially the sea lion show exhibit, are now cloudy or have green water, and a few of the fish seem like they could use more care and attention. The staff remains professional and friendly, which I really appreciate. I still enjoy visiting, but it’s clear that some improvements are needed. The standard has dropped since my last visit. It would also be helpful to have a larger, more noticeable sign reminding guests not to use flash photography, especially near the octopus . I love this place and it’s always an enjoyable experience, but there is a real need for more maintenance. Maybe consider adding a donation box, especially on free admission Wednesdays, to help fund a clean-up crew or extra support.

Experiencia positiva: Good for 3 year olds - could spend 2-3 hrs and had decent cafe with pizza and fries. Restrooms were clean and accessible/ centrally located. It gets very crowded on holidays and so exhibits are not that easily visible. The shark tunnel and penguins was the highlight. The bummer was that parking was closed by the time we reached at around 1 pm

Experiencia fantástica: So much better than what I remember! My kids loved it everything about this place. We spent about 2 hours here, would have stayed longer but there were a lot of class trips. I would recommend going for parents with little ones, they have an indoor touch and play area where they can keep themselves busy for a while!

Experiencia fantástica: One of the best places for your kids to see marine life. Fascinating place for anyone to spend some time. Make sure to wait for the sea lion show. You can cover the whole place within a half a days time. Afterwards you can go and build some sand castles in the beach. Recommend buying tickets online.

Experiencia negativa: Terrible experience! Our kids were so excited and we all very quickly regretted it! Not worth the money, insult onto injury is paying for parking. Very dirty, very limited. Only took an hr to see everything so very small. Tanks for animals were also very dirty. The only thing that was good with the sea lion show. If you can find something else to do, I would!!

Experiencia positiva: Not the best aquarium. But in the top 20%. Camden aquarium is a better bang for your buck. The shows have strict start times and that wouldn't be bad if they weren't multiple hours apart and they're isn't enough stuff to keep you interested between those start times.

My kids were mesmerized by the sharks and loved the tanks. Everything felt clean and well-maintained, and the staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. We learned so much and made wonderful memories. Can't wait to go back!

Experiencia fantástica: This was a great experience. The shark tank is beautiful, and education thou it's just a few kinds of sharks, are there in the tank. The seal show is one your little toddler and young child would definitely enjoy. However, my daughter enjoyed the move theater most because it was 4D and the mist that was sprayed upon you while watching the show. Also, the boardwalk is a breath of fresh air and peaceful.

Experiencia fantástica: It's small, but it's definitely a worthwhile trip. From the amazing sea lion show to all other walks of aquatic life from jellyfishes, sharks, sting rays, a beautiful octopus, as well as learning about their habitats. There are even wildlife encounters you can add to you're visit so plan accordingly as well as a wildlife theater that is scheduled on certain days, so again, plan accordingly. As a Brooklyn native born and raised, it was a nice visit back.

Starts at 11 and shows are scheduled multiple times a day. Check out some of the clips. We got the tickets in advance, and there was no queue on a Sunday. There's ample parking.

I would have preferred more interactive information and sea thru tunnels. Overall though, I enjoyed the aquarium pretty much.

I’d say that NY Aquarium is a great addition to the Central Park zoo because both places make it easier for everyone to enjoy natural beauty within the city. The designated parking lot is an additional reason to come here again!

Of course I wish all of the animals were in a nature, but the ones inside is looking good, and been taken care of. Hopefully they are happy and fed I live here and love visiting this place

Experiencia negativa: The visit was disappointing to say the least. Having visited the Atlanta aquarium earlier this year, I was expecting big things in the Big Apple. While the displays were enjoyable, they were limited in range. Most of the inactive activities were not working, little to no staff to ask any questions. The café what, a sad state, dour with very limited choice. Admission fee plus taxi each way most definitely not worth the money…….sorry.

Experiencia fantástica: WHAT A VISIT! Vets, you get in free and guest gets 1/2 off!! Typical walk through..there is a shark tunnel..nice..but the BIG DEAL..the HUGE SHARK TANK with couch for my relaxation. We spent 30 mins dedicated to just watching the movements and counting the sharks..it can be REALLY serene there. The 4D show is fun and short. I'm glad we finished our day there.

Experiencia fantástica: Located right by Coney Island, NY Aquarium is a great spot to visit with its wide variety of sea creatures despite its small park size. Even though they don't have that many exhibits, the shark exhibit alone is worth a visit and they even offer live penguin and sea lion show, which are really fun and adorable. I love how they have an underwater section for almost all their exhibits like penguins, sea lions, etc - I thought that was a neat addition and allows guests to view the animals from outside and inside. They also have a decently sized cafeteria offering burgers, sandwiches, tenders, fries, and other basic park food. Overall worth a visit!

Experiencia positiva: The shark exhibit and the kids area were highlights. Overall it was a nice walk. It took 90 minutes to see all the exhibits. The highlight of the aquarium is the sharks exhibit. The kids loved it. The 10-minute seal show was okay. There were about 500 young students when we visited. Keep in mind that there are often school trips here on weekdays.

Experiencia fantástica: 5 stars for customer service! When we arrived there was a long line and an employee told us we could go right in if we purchase our tickets online. When we got in, there was an issue that was not able to be discussed with customer service while there. We were only able to visit the gift shop which was really nice and purchased some nice souvenirs. After filling out the survey I was contacted by 2 very helpful and friendly guest relations employees and assistant manager. I hope one day to go back there on vacation and visit the Aquarium.

Experiencia positiva: I went on a field trip with my school and had a great time watching fish and sea lions! I especially liked parts where there were tunnels u could crawl through and have fish swirling around u. One thing I might add is that in the tunnels there is a lot of dirt and grime, so I would be careful when going through.

Experiencia fantástica: The New York Aquarium located in the Coney Island area is the only aquarium located in New York City. It has a great variety of fish and other aquatic animals including a shark exhibit. There is also a sea lion show happening every few hours where you can watch a trainer demonstrate tricks with the sea lion and how they are trained. The aquarium is about an hour from Manhattan by subway and drops you off in front of the Aquarium.

I tried to give it a fair shot but it’s so unbelievably depressing. And I almost forgot to mention you have to pay extra for parking and they give no refunds. PLEASE if anyone is reading this, DO NOT waste your money or time here, it’s not worth it.

Experiencia positiva: Cool and well organized considering how small it is! Seals and sea lions especially cool. Great shark tank too! Behavior from visitors can be poor, there wasn’t much security hanging around in the exhibits and many parents were letting children bang on glass or shine flashlights on light sensitive animals.

Experiencia fantástica: This was a phenomenal date on a beautiful day, I got to enjoy my time with my fiancé. He hasn’t been to the aquarium so long we decided to go and had a blast . They really upgraded a lot of the scenery , as well as the different aquatic animal sections . Our favorite was the shark area as well as there’s a stair case that leads you at the bottom of the tanks that are outside so just in case you didn’t get to see the otter or seal or even penguins on top you definitely can go towards the bottom and see them. Everything was perfect even though we missed the show I know it was a sight to see, the only thing is the gifts shops are beautiful but very expensive but we still got a couple of cool items from there. Overall we had a blast.

Experiencia negativa: So sad. The prices you have to pay for admission only to see animals suffering because of their tanks being so filthy and my not being able to clearly see through the glass. Not all were like this, only the ones that were subjected to outside environments. I know one bad apple can destroy a bunch. But in this case it was a few dirty tanks destroyed an experience of a life time.

The food was good but they supply you with useless wooden forks. The ice cream stand was out of ice cream. Mystic connecticut has a much better aquarium for a similar price.

Experiencia negativa: Went during the week semi decent weather. Went and a bunch of the exhibits were empty. Then the shark exhibit was shut down due to power issues. Prices for the tickets is a rip off due to not much to see, Adults are $29.50 for adults basically $30 and kids 24.50.

I enjoyed how open the aquarium layout was and never felt like everyone was piled on top of each other to view the exhibits. Overall, I enjoyed my time here but it was fairly small and only spent about 1-2 hours here.

Experiencia fantástica: We went with our son- it was a holiday and was not overly crowded. So many interesting spots to step off to the side and let the kids explore and sit and enjoy each exhibit. Everyone was so kind and helpful. We loved seeing that the animals seemed so happy and healthy. My son stood for a half an hour just watching the seals race past him in the underground viewing place. Truly was the highlight of our short stay in New York.

While the artwork is absolutely amazing, it is also sad to know how much microplastics affect our oceans and our lives. I've been going here for many years, and there are new sections that reopened after long-awaited closures. Great time, especially with children. Pack lunch, it can get pricey, but there is food available for purchase onsite. However, there are no true healthy options. Plan for a long day and take your time to enjoy it.

It is beautifully restored after Sandy’s devastation, sharks area was redone completely few years ago and looks much better than before. Sea lion shows are cornerstone of typical visit. The selection of animals were great, the atmosphere was nice, and there were a good bout of accessibility features such as elevators.

Experiencia fantástica: We absolutely loved this place!! It was so much fun seeing all the marine life and experiencing them swim around you! We loved the shark tank and the tunnel that went under water was so awesome. Made me feel like I was a kid again! The staff were super friendly and there was so much to see! The whole place is definitely smaller but it was fine cause it gave us a chance to really take it what they had to offer. We really liked how close it was to Coney Island and the beach, it was nice to stroll the area after the aquarium. Getting to the aquarium was a little far it took us an hour and a half from the city using public transportation. But honestly it was still fun, and we got to see the famous Coney Island.

Experiencia positiva: Had fun with my husband and my kids. The last time I came here was when I was a little kid they had that huge walrus all the kids would climb on to take pictures. I didn't see it so I'm assuming they got rid of it or that side was closed.
