🗣️ Acuario Místico: Opiniones
Experiencia negativa: I had a fine experience until I went to their Virtual Reality station. My 4 year old son really wanted to watch one of the shows, which cost extra, and nobody mentioned that he was too small to fit in the pod until he fell out of it!! The staff said after that he was too short, but they all should have said that BEFORE I paid an extra $10. I saw the safety sign sign hidden in the corner of the room after and apparently it says that only children 6 and up could go in the pods!! First, why is the safety sign in the corner where nobody can see it? Second, why are the STAFF IGNORING SAFETY PROTOCOLS WITH CHILDREN I would have been fine telling my son he was too young and too short if someone would have just let me know that he wasn't even allowed to be there in the first place. It's really greedy to prioritize profits over children's safety. I would not recommend anyone visits a children's attraction that doesn't care about children's safety, including this one.
Experiencia fantástica: The penguins were a highlight, even though the larger exhibit was closed. The beluga we're ripped. There was cute boat driving thing, but I wish it wasn't paywalled. Puffer was gorgeous. All in all, very pleasant. Wouldn't miss it if you're in mystic. Hat options in the gift shop were great, but pricy. Parking lot is large but full. Seal moderators were knowledgeable.
Experiencia fantástica: We had a blast! We did everything they had available. Take your time at each exhibit. Go to all the shows! They have an amazing staff. Ask all the questions, and everyone will answer them. We easily spent all day here!! And there's good food across the street.
Experiencia fantástica: Our four generations of five family members added this aquarium to our Wednesday schedule. Even though the weather was a record scorcher, we enjoyed ourselves. The kids (5 & 10) liked the beluga and the sea lions.
Experiencia positiva: Really Nice place for both kids and adults. Big fish tanks with a lot of variety. They should expand and improve the restaurant though. Maybe They could also add more shows in addition to the sea lion show for kids.
Experiencia positiva: Great for kids. It was crowded and several areas were closed. The show was fantastic.
Experiencia fantástica: Very well maintained and clean park. We went on Juneteenth and the park was crowded but the staff were helpful and engaging. Well managed and happy animals. They also have a nice play area for little kids
Experiencia fantástica: It was a beautiful day to visit the aquarium. It is small and as expected, over priced however I did not mind spending money as the folks there were so nice and welcoming. I especially loved speaking to people who narrated about the animals we saw. One gal speaking at the old penguin exhibit was very outstanding as we discussed the importance of animal issues. I’d like to thank the staff of Mystic for their kindness and knowledge. It was so awesome!
Experiencia positiva: I gave mystic aquarium 3 stars because, my younger liked it and sea lion show was cool! The mystic aquarium is OVERLY priced for what they offer. I paid $180 for 4 tickets- 3 adults and a toddler ticket. When we walked it felt like there was a lot to see until. The first attraction are the whales, after that you walk into the building where you will find jellyfish, sting rays etc. After viewing all of 2 floors, you walk outside and there is another exhibit where you have to pay an additional $15 to see the penguins, sharks and other activities. I did NOT pay because, I felt that those things should have been included after paying $48.00 per ticket at the main entrance. I did purchase food for my family that came up to $73.00(it wasn’t worth it). The order was 2 chicken tender meals, 1 fish and chips( whiched tasted like the box fish they bought in the freezer section) 1 bacon cheese burger( fries not included) and 3 drinks. Only bought food because me and my family were hungry waited for the California sea lion show.
Experiencia positiva: Finding a parking was very difficult. I spent over 10 minutes searching for one. It was especially difficult since I required a handicap spot & they were all occupied. I had no choiceother than to park away from the main entrance. Even with advanced ticket purchases, entering was timely & the lines could have been more organized.
Experiencia fantástica: It was not the biggest aquarium we have been to but it was a very nice aquarium.
Experiencia fantástica: The Mystic Aquarium is a great place to visit. It has a lot of fish and other animals too. It has 2 places to eat too and a gift shop too. Also it has a Sea Lion show. It is a very good show too. I highly recommend the aquarium to anyone who likes sea life
Experiencia positiva: Allowing any size stroller was the only drawback, everything else was great and I had a good time just walking around and photographing the sea life, but too many large strollers that half the time were empty kept getting in the way. They should take a Disney approach and only allow strollers up to a certain size and they must be able to be folded up when not in use. Also please make sure to buy your tickets well in advance, tickets are always more expensive the day you visit.
Experiencia fantástica: Have not been there for a while Very good exhibits
Experiencia positiva: Great for younger children. We had a good time, but not geared for pre-teens/ teens imo. Tickets were a bit pricey, so buy ahead or maybe check groupon or something.
Experiencia positiva: Mystic Aquarium is a great place to visit. To give an idea of how long we have been going there our membership ID number is just over 8000 . We started with taking our children who are now in their 30s, and renewed a few years ago because now its time for our grandchildren. This year however was the first year we thought about not renewing our membership because of the membership changes. We had the Grandparents level allowing up to 6 grandchildren and 2 adults not listed per visit. The new level is called Ocean Pod is much more expensive and allows up to 6 children as well as the 2 named adult but only allows 5 visitor guest per year. Now when they visit we have to choose which parent comes with us or chance having to pay for an extra ticket. Seeing how it works out for now. Great place and we visit often even living 1 1/2 hours away.
Experiencia positiva: We had the noontime session on a Tuesday, the line wasn't too long. The weather held up enough to see inside and out. The Sea Lion show was pretty fun and the littles enjoyed it enough. (The 5 year old more so than the 2 year old). There are lots of exhibits and areas to explore, too. We'll be back again, we did not do the dinosaur experience so I think that'll be the next trip.
Experiencia positiva: My sons first time at the aquarium. Picture girl was extremely rude as we walked into the concourse. She demanded we walk all the way around her as the family in front of us was JUST starting to set up for a photo. She gave a very harsh tone and a mean glare. It set a bad tone for the remainder of the visit and definitely tainted our experience.
Experiencia fantástica: I have been to this aquarium 10 years ago and wanted to go again since we were in the area. The staff was very nice and it was a fun experience. I love learning about the animals and wildlife. Usually I'm wary of going to zoos and aquariums due to animals being neglected, but that doesn't seem like the case here. The animals at this aquarium seemed to be well cared for and they seem to really care about the animals. They also had a rehabilitation center for injured animals, and they have rehabbed some animals and let them back into the wild. I really enjoyed coming here.
Experiencia fantástica: Great place to bring the kids. The membership is definitely worth it if you’re local. Pro tip: Be prepared to be outside for some of your visit! We didn’t have a jacket for our daughter the first time we visited and it was cold! ♀️
Experiencia negativa: Free with EBT but they wouldn't honor our local science center membership or even give a discount. Even though they are supposed to as a non profit. Pink haired lady man was very rude also. $80 for an adult and a child after that mess? That's a hard no thanks
Experiencia positiva: It was nice. I'm not sure the price is worth it, though. Tons of cool fish and the staff is incredibly knowledgeable about what they have but can be a bit rude but overall 8/10
Experiencia fantástica: Juno the beluga is so cute! He loved seeing my wheelchair & followed me around the exhibit. It is a very accessible aquarium, I was impressed with how easy it was for to for me to get around
Experiencia fantástica: A great spot to bring the kids. They do a great job with having the kids interact with the exhibits. The layout of very easy to follow. Everything was clean and the staff was courteous.
Experiencia positiva: It’s just not at its best at the moment. The temporary penguin exhibit is not a good experience and the penguins used to be a big reason to come. The Dino seas is not a great value in my opinion, in particular for kids under 48 inches. I don’t like not rating places like this well but it feels important to let everyone know since it is 5 stars some other times.
Experiencia fantástica: Absolutely worth the $30-40 to get in. The show with the seals were great… had an incident where the one seal wanted to do their own thing and the worker explained how the shows are at the choice of the animals, while they encourage certain behavior they respect if an animal is not into doing the show and respect their nature. We absolutely adored the belugas and how sweet they were, there was always a worker feeding and giving them enrichment at each animals area there was a worker talking over a speaker and giving the crowd tons of great information about the animals, their stories, even down to each animals personality. These people CARE about their animals. And they encourage questions and respond so excitedly! Absolutely loved it here and the money is so well worth it! I would not hesitate to coming back and giving my money towards their mission!
Experiencia fantástica: Beluga whales need I say more. But seriously even the janitor was giving us a private tours. To see my daughter’s face as she saw the whales. Priceless. Worth the time and money and our whole CT trip. Passionate staff. Penguin Pride to die for.
Experiencia fantástica: Great place to visit! We spent about 2–3 hours exploring and could’ve stayed even longer. The animals are wonderful and well cared for, with plenty to see. There’s a snack area outside and a small play area for kids inside the aquarium, which was a nice bonus. A fun and educational outing for all ages!
Experiencia fantástica: Very nicely sized aquarium. Staff was very friendly. Favorite parts was the sea lion show and belugas. The penguins were unfortunately in a small room becouse the habitat was being renovated.
Experiencia fantástica: Small aquarium but adorable, faves were the penguins, sea lions and belugas
Experiencia fantástica: It's always a good time at the Mystic Aquarium, we had a great time, and it's family friendly, but not just for families we were three adults and we enjoyed ourselves
Experiencia positiva: As a first time going here, seems a bit overpriced for the "experience". Beluga whales were cool. Definitely don't pay extra for the Dino Seas Experience thing Unless** you have kids and it's extremely hot and you wanna just sit down and let them run around. Closed exhibits, dirty tanks for the aquariums(the main reason I went) and the staff was meh(very depressed looking, not engaging, or just bored) you expect staff to be excited/bright to get you interested in the animals/attractions. There were one or two good staff members outdoor Stingray touch tank and Beluga ladies. Overall. Norwalk is closer and cheaper for a very similar experience if not a touch better. I'd only go again if I was going to the area for other reasons.
Experiencia negativa: Based on the reviews we were expecting so so much more…people said they spent the day here but I’m wondering if we visited the same place??? We drove over 2 hours to get to Mystic Aquarium. The one star is for the Belugas because they really were impressive. The aquarium is very small, could use some updating…we saw absolutely everything in half an hour. The price was absolutely astronomical, and I’m still questioning what we paid $84 for…save yourself the trip and your hard earned money. Visit the aquarium in Baltimore or Boston if you are in the area, as those are much more impressive. In comparison, sad to say, this is a large fish tank.
Experiencia fantástica: The Mystic Aquarium is definitely worth a visit. It features a variety of animals, including a beluga whale, penguins, sea lions, different species of fish, shellfish, a large turtle, and seals. The sea lion show was the highlight of the day, and the penguins provided a captivating scene that I enjoyed immensely. The cafeteria offers quite good food with a variety of options, including pizza, sandwiches, fries, and chicken. While the store in the aquarium seemed a bit pricey, the overall experience makes the Mystic Aquarium a must-visit destination.
Experiencia positiva: The aquarium has some interesting outdoor exhibits of Beluga whale, seals, sea lions and penguins. Though the Penguin exhibit was closed today. They have a large indoor aquarium for other sea life. We took 2 hours to cover the aquarium without any stops for food. A fun place for kids and adults alike. We skipped the dino exhibit which is over the general ticket. They have a restaurant and some food kiosks. If you have small kids plan 4-5 hours with them as they have lots more to do.
Experiencia fantástica: Had so much fun with this place. They have a lot of things to do and see that were not common with other aquariums: beluga whales, penguins, seals. They also have a sea lion show that was not the usual because... well I think its better if you watch it for yourself. Kids will definitely love this aquarium! It might be a bit costly but if you buy the aquarium tickets way before you come like maybe weeks ahead then you can get it for cheap but since we get the ticket the night before it cost $50 per person. Either way, it was worth every penny and my baby enjoyed the Mystic aquarium trip as a whole. Will be coming back for sure!
Experiencia fantástica: A small but phenomenal aquarium. I love it here. They work so hard to make the experience fun and engaging for everyone. The sea lions show is great for kids, but also anyone of any age. Lots of amazing fish and exhibits. They also do great work with animals that are in need of rehabilitation. We were a large group and they were super accommodating. Would 100% recommend this.
Experiencia positiva: We got there @9::30, no problem. Saw the 1st show for the whales Highly recommend this. By early afternoon, very busy, crowded. The flexibility of the cost of tickets was a surprise.
Experiencia fantástica: There is so much to see and do. Feeding the rays was an awesome experience. We also saw the seal show, which was funny and educational! The additional $15 play area, was a blast. Overall, I expected to pay what we did and got our money's worth.
Experiencia fantástica: Love this place. $3 dollars buys you a cup of food to feed the sting rays it's a great experience. The sea lion show is free and the trainers work so hard and it shows thru the sea lion and how smart they are. You can tell everyone that works there takes pride in what they do.The aquarium is well kept. Between the aquarium and Mystic village it makes for a great New England weekend getaway with the family. The only downside is I wish they could have scooters. My husband has a hard time walking and he had to sit out on a few things because he couldn't walk. They do offer wheelchairs but my husband felt weird using them.
Experiencia negativa: I have no idea how this is rated so highly. It’s a pretty small Aquarium with not much to see outside and a small inside building. It’s also 40 bucks a person which is way more money then comparablly sized aquariums. There is much more fun and affordable things to do in Mystic!
Experiencia negativa: If you’ve ever been to the Camden aquarium or even Animal Kingdom, you are going to be bummed out by this place. It’s very small, shockingly so for the price of admission. I think the decent reviews have to be because the area doesn’t have any good aquariums, it’s the only explanation.
Experiencia positiva: I have been to many aquariums across the states from Newport Oregon to Albuquerque Scottsdale AZ etc. And this one was mediocre. Definitely had some cool things like the belugas were the stars of the show. An sea lions were cool as well. Good things is that there seemed to be bathrooms everywhere. So never really had to look to far. Animals seemed well taken care of and all tanks an living spaces seemed also well taken care of. But with that being said . $45 per adult an 35 for our 5 year old is expensive. We spent 130 before even getting through the front doors. Then 50 for food. And it was that big. We walked through twice just to get our "moneys worth" Didn't go into the dinosaur exhibit because that was an extra 15 per person. Facilitys were clean and it was busy but we were still able to walk right up to all animals an get a good view. There seemed to be lost of hands on touching exhibits for the kids. Sting rays corals etc This was our first time to the mystic aquarium and we just went without reaserching price and exhibits. If I would have known the price we would have probably just stayed at the beach. Pros very clean. Lots of hands on stuff. Bathrooms seemed convenient. Animals an tanks seemed happy an cleaned. People working there were happy an helpful Cons price for admission. An how small the facility is. I understand this seems like a complaint with not a lot of examples. Kids an family had fun but goodness was not expecting to drop 200 for just a couple hours. That's just my 2 cents!
Experiencia fantástica: Great Aquarium. It had loads of animals considering the size of the place. All of the animals seemed happy and truly cared for. The CA Sealion show was super cute and was both educational and fun. The staff was very friendly and willing to answer questions about the animals as well as take a photo if asked. The Aquarium has multiple attractions some of which cost extra like the IMAX films, 3-D motion simulator, and personal animal interactions. They have a lovely walking path that leads you through marsh lands, to the penguin enclosure, other sea lions, and beluga whales. The trainers give an educational speech about the whales while they do some training exercises and daily medical checkups. This Aquarium also has a place for kids, a small food spot, ice-cream vendors throughout, and a gift shop. I highly recommend doing this experience. I'd definitely go back.
Experiencia positiva: It's a smaller aquarium, but the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. We love the baluga whales and the sea lion show is adorable. We appreciate that they do a lot of rehabilitation. Great 2 hour day adventure with the kiddo.
Experiencia fantástica: Buy tickets in advance—they are more expensive on the day of admission. Cute small aquarium! The highlights are the sea lion show (free with regular admission) and the beluga whales. It’s a small aquarium but we spent about 2 hours there, including watching the show. I liked what Mystic is doing to help rehabilitate and treat injured animals. It made me feel better about the ticket price of about $40/adult, hoping it supports those efforts. Really great views of the sea lions & penguins. Some of the jellyfish looked suspiciously lifeless. There is a typo in one of the turtle signs that needs fixed.
Experiencia positiva: My family had a great time. The staff were well versed on the animals they were working with. The park was kept clean. They have free shows to watch if you pay attention to the times posted. There are lines to get into some of the shows you will get in, though. If you wish there are places, you can pay for private time to see and handle some of the animals. like the sting rays and penguins. Those activities aren't cheap, of course, but the payment does cover the family.
Experiencia fantástica: This is an absolutely beautiful aquarium with a lot of cool animals. My only complaint is how expensive it is, and its “dynamic pricing” makes it worse for people trying to visit on the weekends.
Experiencia positiva: Overall, nice aquarium for kids. Sea lion show and Ray feeding were very fun for kids. However, avoid the Dino seas exhibition. Not worth the extra $12 per person and the “Aerial adventure” is too demanding for kids and has nothing to do with the “Dino” theme. None of the kids up there seemed to be having a good time.
Experiencia fantástica: It's a great Aqurium. Amazing and knowledgeable staff. It's not a huge place, but it is well maintained and laid out nicely. You could make a day out of it if you'd like, but you can also breeze through it if you have a lot on your itinerary. This is great for families, and I recommend taking your time with it. There are benches everywhere if you need to have a minute or two to be off your feet.
Experiencia positiva: If you’re planning a family trip to Mystic, Connecticut, Mystic Aquarium is a must-visit destination, especially for families with children under 14. While it may not rival the size of aquariums like SeaWorld, it offers a rich array of interactive and educational experiences tailored for younger audiences. Highlights for Kids: Beluga Whales: One of the standout features is the beluga whale exhibit the only one in New England. Children can observe these gentle giants, including the popular Juno, known for his playful interactions with visitors . Sea Lions & Seals: The aquarium houses a variety of seals and sea lions, including the rare Steller sea lions. The sea lion shows at the Foxwoods Marine Theater are both entertaining and educational, captivating audiences of all ages . Penguins: The African penguin exhibit allows kids to learn about these unique birds and their behaviors, with opportunities to observe them both on land and swimming . Interactive Touch Tanks: Children can engage directly with marine life by touching sharks, rays, and other sea creatures in designated touch pools, fostering a hands-on learning experience . Seal Pup Playspace: Designed for toddlers aged 2–5, this undersea-themed play area offers a safe and imaginative environment for the youngest visitors to explore and play . Dino Seas Exhibit: The “Dino Seas” exhibit is an immersive journey through prehistoric marine environments, featuring animatronic dinosaurs, a two-story indoor play area, and live reptiles and amphibians. While it offers interactive experiences, some visitors feel that the additional $15 ticket may not be justified for older children or adults. Educational Programs: Mystic Aquarium provides a range of educational programs, including: • Summer Camps: Week-long camps that combine fun and learning about marine life. • Overnight Programs: Unique sleepover experiences that allow children to explore the aquarium after hours. • Homeschool Series: Curriculum-aligned programs designed for homeschool families . Conservation Efforts: The aquarium is actively involved in marine conservation. Notably, it rehabilitated and released six gray seals back into the wild, highlighting its commitment to wildlife rescue and rehabilitation . Mystic Aquarium excels as a family-friendly destination, offering a variety of engaging and educational activities for children under 14. While it may not offer the scale or thrill for older teens and adult only groups, its focus on interactive learning and conservation makes it a valuable experience for young visitors.
Experiencia fantástica: Absolutely AMAZING!!! Of course Beluga whales and sea lions win the show for me however even inside the building you can find various of fishes, sharks… I practically felt like I was on a set of H2O (who knows knows). People there are really nice, periodically tell you about the mammals. Omg how could I forget to mention penguins… I mean my mom squatted for them to take photos and observe them (fyi my mom never squats). You can pet some of the mammals but I personally wasn’t sure how I’d like anyone touching me so many times so I didn’t… if you’re with kids it’ll definitely take you minimum 4 hrs to be there as they have a few different games for kids. My mom and I had our journey for 2 hours and then we just sort of sat and observed. The territory isn’t humongous but a medium size. Oh and they do shows (I’m not sure if it’s only for sea lions but when we went there it was a sea lion show) Basically love love love and recommend so much!
Experiencia fantástica: We visited for the first time to see the harbor seals & the sea lions and were very impressed with the outdoor exhibits and shows. The outdoor penguin exhibit was also nice but the indoor exhibits were really special and were staffed by knowledgeable people. Be sure to go inside to touch the rays and sharks. It's totally worth it.
Experiencia fantástica: As always, Mystic Aquarium didn't disappoint. My family was so happy to be there
Experiencia positiva: Quite few of the frshwater exhibits were mislabeled. The belugas, penguins, and seals were a highlight
Experiencia fantástica: We had a wonderful time at the Mystic aquarium; it was our first time visiting. They had a variety of different sea animals that you were able to get up close to and had live feeding that guests could witness. The staff were very knowledgeable and answered all questions with sincerity. There was also a sea lion show that was great and a few touch tanks that had sharks, rays, fish, and tide pool animals. We will definitely be returning and look forward to our next experience!
Experiencia fantástica: Small, clean, friendly aquarium exhibits with easy viewing access. Welcoming, Engaging, friendly interpreters that are easy to approach. Easy parking and access even on packed days. Highly recommend
Experiencia fantástica: Very family friendly and easy to navigate. We went on a Saturday with nice weather and the lines were moving fast and we were able to see all the animals. Not cheap by any means especially if you do the late tickets past the times they have feedings and shows it’s still pricey. The kids loved it
Experiencia fantástica: Such a cool experience!! All the animals seem to be very well taken care of and the aquarium was very organized and clean. The california sea lion show was one of my favorite but it was really cool walking around and seeing all the animals. Touching the sting rays was also a really fun experience. They would come up to us so they seemed to be quite friendly and enjoyed what they were doing. Hoping to come back soon!
Experiencia positiva: Great place for a day with the kids. We went on a holiday so it was pretty packed, but even then it was still navigatable. I would suggest purchasing tickets in advance to avoid any lines.
Experiencia fantástica: I loved seeing the animals. It was so cool seeing the beluga whales, rare sea lions, African penguins, and so much more.
Experiencia positiva: Classic aquarium and definitely one of the most fun things to do in the area. A true CT classic. The facility has always been nice and it's always fun to see the marine animals, and the sea lion show is highly recommended. However I'm docking a star because I think the aquarium is a tad bit pricey for what it is, and this applies to both general admission and any extras. I always have a good time when I go but it really doesn't take that long to see everything either. Beyond that one complaint, it is still a mighty fine aquarium and a highlight of the region.
Experiencia positiva: We’ve taken our kids to a lot of aquariums all over and this one is crazy expensive. On top of the crazy expensive admission, there are like 4 sections inside that you have to purchase an additional ticket for if you want to see that part. Then they also constantly ask you to donate to them the whole day. The facilities were all nice and the beluga whales & sea lion shows were especially great, but for the rest of the aquarium definitely way over priced. I would not recommend prioritizing this aquarium for your family trip to mystic if there are other things you want to see first and to avoid spending a million dollars when you can always go to any aquarium
Experiencia positiva: We quite enjoyed the aquarium, particularly the outdoor exhibits and the touch friendly tank with the rays and sharks. Just a heads up! As adults, visiting without children, we found the Dino Exhibit to be a complete waste of money.
Experiencia positiva: Very nice aquarium to see a bunch of neat animals, especially sea lions, seals, and beluga whales. it's on the small side, so there's not much for the prices. The other sea dino exhibit seems to be another paid ticket to enter, so be wary of that. Other than that, pretty neat. Maybe some overattendance for the size honestly. I've been to several aquariums and aquatic museums, this was a little lackluster but it's a good time. should definitely be lower in price, but I'm glad or hope so, that the funds go into aqua wildlife conservation.
Experiencia fantástica: Amazing place so many amazing aquatic animals to see. But what really made me and my girlfriend enjoy our time Was a super nice gentleman named "Brandon" he was the most polite person imaginable. He has a cornucopia of useful knowledge. 10/10 will go back because of brandon.
Experiencia fantástica: Loved the Beluga whales, but also loves all of the other animals such as the seals, and the penguins. I'm a grown adult and this place made me feel like a kid again. I would go abandoned again. And the staff is so friendly and knowledgeable!
Experiencia fantástica: I love zoos and aquariums, but of course only when the animals are benefitting from extra care from humans. Otherwise, it can feel like caging animals for our amusement. I did not get that feeling from this aquarium at all. All of the animals and fish at the aquarium were obviously very happy, healthy, and playful. There was a large variety of fish at this aquarium - more than others I have been to.
Experiencia fantástica: Really nice aquarium with great exhibits and super friendly staff. It’s a fun and educational spot, perfect for a field trip with kids. Everyone had a great time!
Experiencia positiva: Compared to other aquariums in the US, this seemed overpriced and underwhelming. It feels more like a local roadside attraction off the interstate than an aquarium. First of all, for two adult tickets, it will set you back nearly $100. Now, if you have a family with small kids, this might be a fun activity for a couple of hours as just about everyone in the park are families with young children. It felt like I was able to see everything relatively interesting in under two hours.
Experiencia fantástica: We love going to the Mystic Aquarium when in town. Some areas are open to the elements so it can get pretty hot on a scorching day. Highly recommend getting tickets in advance as it can get packed during Mystic’s busy season.
Experiencia positiva: I like the variety of animals ...great place to bring kids. I just think the jellyfish exhibit went quite downhill. Try a different day than Saturday. I have been there when it's totally packed and it's not great. Paying for a membership is quite useful if you want to go several times.
Experiencia fantástica: What a great visit. Got to get super close to a bunch of seals and sea lions. Pet some sharks. It was a chilly but beautiful day. Employees were super attentive and informative
Experiencia positiva: We went to the aquarium with our 3 grandchildren. We purchased tickets on line and entered the gate at 9:30. It's a wonderful place in the morning but terribly crowded by about 1 o'clock. We did do Dino Seas, expensive with 3 children, and feel we could have skipped it. VERY crowded by 12. Sea Lion show great and all enjoyed it. Team members at the aquarium are so polite and helpful! Best part was spending time with family.
Experiencia negativa: EBT holders get in for free! I did my due diligence and looked to buy tickets online as recommended. Unfortunately, I struggled to get this discount SO I called ahead. The woman i spoke to about going to the aquarium that day said I could come right in at the free rate as long as I have my card. My children and I were SO excited!! Until I arrived. Of course anything that sounds too good to be true isn’t. I looked at my kids disappointed faces as the aggressive woman at admissions told me they would not honor the discount, had to pay FULL price, and “should have purchased these tickets online.” She did not care that I tried and was told different prior to me driving all the way out. I felt blindsided and disgusted. Between the lack of communication within the company and moral compass to thinking this was reasonable to do to someone in need that just wanted my children to enjoy the aquarium for a couple of hours. My only reasoning for going that day was because of what I was told on the phone. Looking back I had wish I had gone to Boston Aquarium which ended up having a better discount, is closer to me and offers more. What a disappointing $100+ trip this was !!! A total regret. Go to the New England Aquarium! The Mystic Aquarium is clearly money hungry and does NOT practice what they preach.
Experiencia fantástica: Loved it! Dino Seas is worth it as an extra. My 8 year old and I spent 4 hours there.
Experiencia positiva: Overall, a very nice well maintained aquarium, very clean aquariums and different exhibits, sea lions, seals, jelly fish, sharks, very nice. This was my first time here, and I would highly recommend this as a good educational place to go. The staff and volunteers were very professional and helpful.
Experiencia fantástica: Great aquarium with lots of animals to see and a very knowledgable staff who were happy to share information about the animals. Personally partial to the California sea lions and the beluga whales, but there's definitely something for all people and families to see here
Experiencia negativa: I asked GPT which is the best between Boston, Long Island and mistric aquarium, and GPT recommend this one. I trusted it. However, the experience was not as good as what we expect. First it’s quite old in terms of infrastructure. And it’s quite small, the Dino museum needs to pay extra. In summary, it’s way apart from our expectation.
Experiencia positiva: Very nice place. Reasonably priced. Not the food though - 10$ for a lemonade, no straw ( understand why- harmful to the animals if dropped in tanks) but wasn't told until after I paid - she pointed to the straw hole and told me "just push it in and sip thru there - we don't do straws for safety of our animals " ♀️ The exhibits were informative and engaging. We LOVED the touch tank and my personal favorite experience was the Jellyfish. Unfortunately we didn't catch the sealion show but we stayed quiet some time to watch the beluga whales. The girl at the beluga whale exhibit was super knowledgeable, engaging and friendly. I learned so many new things I had a nice visit. Will bring my grandbabies next visit ☺️ I left a star off for the overpriced watered down, not sweet lemonade I ended up throwing out. I did ask her if she could make it sweeter- she said it was already premixed. Should have just bought a bottle of water
Experiencia positiva: Outside areas are a 10/10. You can't get much closer to penguins without touching them. The beluga whales and sea lions are also very cool. They have 2 young sea lions that where playing together. I could have sat and watched that for an hour. The inside is a 7/10. It's smaller than I expected and was very crowded. I'd give it an 8/10 overall. Overall better than Boston, but I think Boston edges Mystic based solely on the insides. Best aquarium I've been too in the US. I think the copenhagen aquarium beats it though.
Experiencia positiva: I found this aquarium to be smaller than I expected, and overall, I think the ticket prices are quite high—$45 for adults and $38 for children. In my opinion, a more reasonable price would be around $25 to $30. The main highlight for us was the beluga whale, which was absolutely adorable. Other than that, there wasn’t much that really stood out to me. My kids enjoyed the touch tank area where they could interact with marine creatures, and the indoor exhibits were ok ,with enough things to look at as we walked through. The outdoor section was short ,we walked around and saw some penguins, but it wasn’t particularly impressive. What I found especially unreasonable was that the Dino Area exhibit required an additional fee, even though the general admission was already quite expensive. Prices inside the aquarium were also pretty expensive. For example, a single hot dog cost $9, which I found hard to believe. Despite these issues, I’m giving 3 stars mainly because of the beluga whale—it was the most memorable part of our visit.
Experiencia positiva: Over priced. Family of three was $140 to get in. SeaWorld is cheaper. Lots of funny looking, gender confused, people walking arround. One even had ears and a tail. The people watching was even more entertaining then the aquarium itself.. Lol. The sea lion show was really really good. Seeing small whales blow rings under water was wild. Everyone loves penguins and seeing the seals was great. My 2 star ding was because it's not affordable to take a family here. It was also good Friday and the place was PACKED .
Experiencia fantástica: This aquarium has an amazing sea lion show! The staff are friendly, kind, and knowledgeable. My FIL is a veteran and he and my 16 month old were free. Plus we got $10 off for each family member.
Experiencia fantástica: Such a great aquarium. I love that they have a rescue and research center. They raise money for the aquarium and for the animals to stay healthy and safe. There are so many sea creatures to see. It’s so cool! Definitely go watch the sea lion show and pet a stingray (using two fingers on their backs only). Stingrays are more friendly than I thought.
Experiencia positiva: As a local person, I have always enjoyed the aquarium and was a member until my children aged out. I was very disappointed to be treated poorly by a staff member when I presented an EBT card on behalf of a refugee family. I understand that it was vacation week however the attitude caught me off guard. I ultimately paid for our entry because it would have been a huge disappointment to the family. As a local nonprofit group it hurts to be excluded from a major regional attraction. I expect better.
Experiencia positiva: Was great for the kids. Though it got very busy and felt claustrophobic inside the main attraction at times. Buy tickets ahead of time if you're considering going. Tickets were very expensive ($174 for family of 4).
Experiencia fantástica: My daughter loved and I loved it a little pricey but it was worth it
Experiencia positiva: This was a packed place and very expensive. Just shy of $100 for two adults. Thankfully my child is under two. The staff was knowledgeable and I was thankful my little lady could see the Easter bunny while we were there. You get your picture taken when you walk in for close to $40 to keep. The Easter bunny photo was $40, but they let me take my own for free. I loved the penguins, sea lions, and beluga whales. Other than that we own most of the fish in our tanks at home. I do not think this is worth the price for admission.
Experiencia positiva: Visited during Spring break and it was packed! There was a huge line to enter but it did go fast. Mystic Aquarium seems smaller than I remember. My boys were also hoping to have more of an interactive experience. We bought a membership as it made the most since since we didn't have any discounted tickets. We will need to try to come a couple of times and take our time. We did do the Dino Seas. I was hoping it was going to be more active. The Aerial activity was fun and a little scary. Lol
Experiencia fantástica: Love this aquarium stayed in Connecticut for a few days just to go! If you enjoy a more interactive aquarium this one is great there are signs everywhere with little facts about each creature you see if I remember correctly 3 touch tanks and the playful belugas. The main area isn’t too big but there are so many different creatures to see it’s worth it! The sea lion show is inside so it’s great for rainy days only downside is the belugas are outside but they are worth being cold or getting wet for. The staff is also super informative overall just a really fun experience plus the area around is a lot of fun! Bonus points for the whole jellyfish section!
Experiencia positiva: Not to big, not to small! The seal show was cute and the jellyfish are memorizing! A little pricey though.
Experiencia fantástica: Bring the kiddos and enjoy the conservation and rehabilitation efforts the staff works hard at!
Experiencia positiva: Expected a larger Aquarium but enjoyed the Beluga Whale as well as all the other animals. Quality experience with the low foot traffic. Was able to enjoy much closer interaction and views with all sights to see
Experiencia fantástica: We had a great time I thought it was wild many of the penguins and exhibits were as old as I am and still looking great. The animals all appeared happy and healthy. The whales were really neat, one made eye contact with me it did not seem in distress. It seemed rather amused that we had a baby with us and kept coming over to us. I would buy tickets in advance I wasn't a fan of the pay kiosks.
Experiencia fantástica: We were visiting Mystic for the first time and we heard so many good things about the Aquarium in the city and totally exceeded our expectations. What a wonderful and organized place! My favorite part was definitely the beluga whales. All the staffs were really friendly. It was a great experience!
Experiencia fantástica: Fantastic place for kids and curious adults too. The belugas and penguins steal the show. The seals and sea lions also put on a great performance. The touching tanks were pretty cool, and the closed tanks had a great variety of rays, jellyfish, tropical wonders, and sea life. Definitely recommend.
Experiencia fantástica: What a wonderful place! Not the biggest aquarium but a lot to see. The belgua whales are awesome and nothing better than a group of penguins hanging out. Highly recommend this site to see when in the area.
Experiencia fantástica: Our entire family had so much fun at the Mystic Aquarium! Loved the setup with many outdoor areas of viewing. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about the animals. Cannot wait to visit again.
Experiencia fantástica: Been there with family on EID! It’s great for kids and families!
