Experiencia fantástica: It was super hot when we went so a lot of the animals were inside trying to keep cool. Even though we didn't see too much, I can tell that the zoo and aquarium is an amazing place for the city of Pittsburgh.

Experiencia negativa: A friend and I visited about a year ago, after years of not having been here. It was a very disappointing experience. The animals were all very clearly distraught. The elephants were swaying, the giraffe was standing and staring into the distance while licking its lips. The enclosures are much too small for most animals and have little enrichment. I was never really a fan of this zoo, but it's very sad to see they haven't really upgraded in the decade or so since my previous visit. The general pricing is outrageous as well, so I can't imagine where the profit is going. Please, please do better.

Experiencia negativa: 100 dollars for two adults and 2 kids entry. 16 dollars for 4 people to ride a carousel. Animal exhibits were dirty , smelled and are to small. Many animals and reptiles are listed on website as being here which is not true. Workers on gators and golf carts everywhere driving way to fast, we almost got hit 3 times. Workers were rude at the ice cream stand and when I got closer to the window to make my order it smelled like urine and I saw lots of flys. Overall worst Zoo experience to date.

Experiencia fantástica: Beautiful zoo and aquarium! Very friendly staff.

Experiencia fantástica: We had a 4 month old & a 4yr old. (We went on Father's Day, Father's get in free). To beat the crowd and heat we got there at opening, 930. We walked a little over 3 miles in 3 hrs, had lunch and left. By then it was getting crowded & hot. Crowd wasn't a problem, as much as the heat. All my ppl were ready to leave.

Experiencia positiva: This is a fun zoo! Very clean. Parking is free and easy to handle. We went on Memorial Day and didn’t have any troubles. The food selections in the zoo are limited and slightly over priced for what they are. I saw several families with food they packed and brought in, and thought that was a much better idea than buying food and drinks from the zoo.

Experiencia positiva: Decent one , not too big nor too small… kids will love it, not much for adults… many shows were not going on when I went… Ample parking space and good friendly staff…but crowded on weekends

Experiencia positiva: This place was a bit expensive but it was a nice zoo with lots of walking. It was great to see animals I havent seen before.

Experiencia fantástica: Wonderful animals, sadly the day was a little hot and some animals were out for the vet, but definitely a fantastic place, a ton of pictures, a ton of memories and honestly a lot of fun. I liked the reptiles and the cats the most. The only thing I didn't like is how you had to pay for the butterfly exhibit, but that's a personal problem, it's only 4$ which isn't terrible by any means. The tickets were priced accordingly I feel, and I didn't taste the food but it was probably alright.

Experiencia positiva: A lot to see, be prepared to walk. Most of the exhibits you can see the animals pretty well. There are a few that, out of the countless times we have been, we have only seen a couple of times due to the angle of the exhibit and hiding places for the animals. The refill cup is a scam, only one place open to refill the cup on the day we went. The best part is the aquarium. The kids loved seeing the penguin and the "Nemo and Dory fish"

Experiencia fantástica: Wonderful time with my wife here yesterday. Been coming here since I was a kid. Always enjoy seeing people's reactions to coming to the zoo for the first time.

Experiencia negativa: Below average, if you like zoos I would skip this one entirely. Most of the animals seem to be distressed or not very well maintained, it was kinda depressing. Accessibility wise it's accessible but not friendly at all, hills, drops, uneven terrain, there are a lot of benches though so you can always find a spot to take a break. The size of the zoo is on the small size and it took me about 3.5 hours to finish

Jacob Marchand 3 months ago

Experiencia fantástica: This zoo is set up really well. I like that the exhibits are mostly outdoors and just how many active exhibits they had. One thing that I didn’t know was the huge play area they have for kids! They have it in a spot where you could skip over to it at the start but we didn’t really know why it was that way until we got all the way around. If you have kids, you could spend the whole day in that area of the zoo and it’d probably be worth it. So lots to do whether you want a relaxed stroll or a really fun time with the whole family.

Brian Parker 3 months ago

Experiencia fantástica: Two words. Polar bear. Snowflake was the name if I remember correctly. This was worth the price of admission for our whole family. We loved other parts of the zoo as well, though if you aren't ready for hills, prepare yourself to get a leg workout in. But hands down seeing a polar bear in person for the first time was the highlight of the whole summer for some of our children!

Experiencia fantástica: Wow this place was great! Easily top 5 zoos I have been to. Nice treat to get free dad entry for Father’s Day! The exhibits are very well done, allowing the best viewing of the animals. The layout of the park is ideal, creating a big loop to get around easily and skip sections if you’d like. It was also the perfect size- we were able to see everything in about 5 hours, including the ice age trail twice. The aquarium is amazing, especially the huge two story tank with sharks. All the staff were very kind and friendly. I wish this was my local zoo, but we were just driving through.

Experiencia fantástica: Tons of fun for the family! Free parking and reasonably priced yearly passes. Lots of exciting animals to see and fun kids play area for kids to play.

Ruby Shultz 3 months ago

Experiencia positiva: My son and I were cery disappointed this trip. 1. There weren't near as many animals as our last trip and 2. Because there was only 1 food shop open. We went the beginning of June so I am not sure why so much was closed when we went. I will say that the staff were all friendly and the zoo was clean. There is construction at the entrance but that didn't effect or delay entering.

Bryanna Coddington 3 months ago

Experiencia positiva: It was a nice field trip. My daughter loves animals, so it was a given we were attending. I really like the aquarium, its super nice. I wasn't aware the zoo is 95% cashless. Which is hard when parents send money for souvenirs. (Id never send my 8 year old with a card) Food vendors and vending machines all use a card. So make sure you take one. The animals seemed sad to me. Most were hiding in the shade, not in their exhibit at all, or just staying away from the sun. Can't blame them though.

Yoselin Rivas 3 months ago

Experiencia fantástica: A wonderful place, I would go a thousand times. The staff were very friendly and helpful with any questions. There's a variety of animals, and they're well cared for. The mountain vegetation is beautiful. I already want to repeat the trip.

Experiencia fantástica: A report from the urban jungle known as The Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium. My mission began with an immediate obstacle. The very entrance to the facility is a scene of massive upheaval—a sprawling construction site where they are erecting a new welcome center. One must navigate a labyrinth of temporary fences and bypass the roar of heavy machinery. It is organized chaos, reminiscent of the constant state of demolition and reconstruction in my own city of Gotham. It serves as a fitting warning: you must be vigilant from the very first step. Once past the gauntlet at the gate, my reconnaissance of the zoo grounds commenced. After traversing a gigantic escalator up the hill, I immediately felt a sense of familiarity among the great cats. A magnificent tiger paced with the same dangerous, fluid grace as Selina Kyle on a rooftop heist. These feline femme fatales watch you with intelligent, predatory eyes, reminding you that they are the true masters of their domain. My investigation then proceeded to a lower level, into the dark, watery depths of the Aquarium. It is a subterranean lair that would make Killer Croc feel right at home. Through reinforced glass, I observed a colony of penguins, waddling about in their permanent black-tie attire. A fishy enterprise, indeed. I kept my guard up, half-expecting Oswald Cobblepot himself to appear, demanding tribute. The deep-water tanks hold other mysteries—strange, alien-like jellyfish pulsing with an eerie light, a sight as unsettling as anything from Scarecrow's nightmares. "Beware" Advisory: The Gates of Chaos: The ongoing construction at the entrance creates a confusing, ever-changing landscape. Be prepared for detours and loud noises before your mission even begins. The Terrain: The hills of this facility are relentless. Navigating them is a physical challenge worthy of the League of Shadows. Prepare your grappling hook… or at least, wear comfortable shoes. Detective Tip: Initiate your patrol at opening bell. Securing the perimeter before the civilian masses descend is critical, especially with the confusion at the entrance. The animals are most active in the morning coolness, providing the best opportunities for surveillance. Final Verdict: The Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium is a living catalog of the wild, but one that is currently undergoing a chaotic transformation. It demands stamina, patience at the gate, and constant awareness. It is perfectly sized for a 2-hour visit. Keep your wits about you, and you may just survive the urban jungle.

Experiencia negativa: I have been going to the Pittsburgh Zoo ever since I was a little girl and always had such a great time. I now have three kids of my own and of course wanted them to experience a place I loved as a child. We just went there this past weekend and it was terrible. They really let the place go…and for what they charge for tickets it shouldn’t be that way. For my family of four it was $102 and that was for two adults and two children ages 4 and 6. As soon as we started out we noticed that it was very overgrown and when looking into the different habitats they were also overgrown. All of the animals that we actually managed to see looked so sad. There were a lot of animals that my kids wanted to see and they were nowhere to be found. The lioness wasn’t there but at least they had a sign saying why she wasn’t. But I can’t say the same for the other animals. There were no gorillas to be seen, and no polar bear either. In the aquarium there was some type of event going on and my kids wanted to see the sting rays but that portion was all blocked off. I get things happen but it should be posted on their page what animals will not be at the zoo on every given day. We pay all this money and don’t get to have a good experience. On the way out since we felt bad our kiddos didn't get to see all the animals we thought we would get them something in the gift shop. Oh my was everything so overpriced. We got our daughter a medium sized stuffed zebra and it was $26.99 and found out it had two small holes in it when we got out to our car. Our son wanted some animal figures which I think was a pack of six or seven little animals which was $29.99 and it looked like something that could have been sold at the dollar general. All in all we were disappointed with this zoo trip. We wouldn’t even have minded paying the $102 if all the animals were available to see. Unfortunately we don’t think we will ever go back to the Pittsburgh Zoo. We would rather travel to somewhere else that is going to be worth our money. I wouldn’t waste your time and your money to go here.

Experiencia fantástica: I haven’t been since I was a little kid. It’s very nice. A lot to see. Very reasonable priced

Greg Larsen 3 months ago

Experiencia negativa: Very disappointed with the Zoo’s upkeep … a little nicer than going to a county fair. Wasn’t a large number of animals to see, as several exhibits had nothing to see. Bought lunch for 6 adults and 2 toddlers (French Fries, Chicken Tenders and a couple of Burgers, with 2 kids’ drinks … 196 dollars. Really? I’m thinking that some of the money you are raking in, should be spent on keeping the zoo, where it’s attracting visitors. I’ll make the drive to Columbus, OH, if I want to visit a quality zoo.

Experiencia fantástica: Loved the whole thing. My daughter had me go with her for our birthdays. Lions, and tigers and penguins and flamingos

Clayton Bryant 3 months ago

Experiencia positiva: It was really fun, but things are way too expensive. $26 for a little stuffed animal, for example. Also, there were quite a few enclosures without any animals in them. I dont know if it was just a bad time of year, but it was quite disappointing. However, we got to see them feed the sea lions and make them do tricks for a while. Would definitely recommend a visit if you're in the area

Taylor Scott 3 months ago

Experiencia fantástica: The zoo is absolutely such a great place. I like the feeling of the zoo being very wooded and shaded. Their exhibits are nice and the zoo is well kept. My only complaint is the price of food and beverages there. I would definitely get the membership if you plan to go more than once. Overall great place to take the kids and family.

Robin Marcus 3 months ago

Experiencia positiva: This is a beautiful zoo! We did a field trip there and the kids loved it! The only thing that was a problem was getting to restrooms. They were far apart for kids who needed to go now:)... But everything was clean, well maintained and the animals were very happy!

Experiencia fantástica: The zoo is quite big, but there are not enough animals

Kristen 3 months ago

Experiencia fantástica: Wandering around with all the animals was such a fun experience with the family

Maria Sprow 4 months ago

Experiencia positiva: I always enjoy walking around the zoo but it would be helpful if they posted things like animal schedules (when are the zebras outside etc), and many things are just very expensive (like the food). And the glass in the jungle house could use more cleanings. If the animals had a daily schedule available online or as some kind of trip planning app that had it, it could help plan each journey through the zoo better and manage disappointment/expectations and possibly even allow visitors to keep a sort of journal of which animals they got to see the last time and which they need to try and see the next time. The giraffe and gorillas are my favorites. I wish all the primates were outside more. I don't know how long it takes to mix zebras and giraffes but it's been a very long time since I've seen a zebra. It's definitely not a cheap family activity and it would be better to have it open later, but it is a great place to go walk around all the time if you're a member. I definitely recommend membership versus trying to only go once.

Experiencia positiva: Pretty cool they built a zoo right there. Glad they are doing renovations. Paid the 9 bux extra for the ice age exhibit, 1 dollar a minute….. was a solid meh.. the rest of the animals, that were out… were awesome. First time seeing a giraffe..about 10’ away…. Holy, I thought I was tall. We had a conversation.. we get each other…. Will be back after all the reno is done. And got another shot glass, was a good day.

DARIAN “Buddy Bud” 4 months ago

Experiencia fantástica: Who doesn't love the zoo? Let’s break it down: THE ANIMALS: The giraffes were inside. Inside what? I don’t know. Some sort of giraffe witness protection program. The lions? On vacation, apparently. Probably in Monroeville, judging people’s lawns. The penguins? Absolute thugs. One stared me down like I owed him money. The monkeys were living their best life, one even threw poop. Respect. Sometimes, you gotta say it with actions. THE AQUARIUM: Now this was the highlight. Jellyfish look like they’re dancing to lo-fi beats. The otters? ADORABLE. One looked like it was judging me for my life choices, but that’s fair. I was judging myself, too, by that point. THE STAFF: Kind, but they all got that look like they’ve seen some sht*. Like, “I used to love animals… until this job.”Go for the animals. Stay for the cardio. Leave with trauma, a sunburn, and a plastic cup that cost more than therapy. And if you see a goose… run. FINAL VERDICT: Would I return? Yes. But next time I’m bringing a CamelBak, hiking boots, and a personal trainer. And maybe a prayer circle.

Nagabandi Dheeraj Kumar 4 months ago

Experiencia fantástica: This was my first time visiting this place, and I loved it! The animals in the zoo were surprisingly active compared to other zoos I’ve been to. The aquarium was clean and featured a wide variety of aquatic animals in all shapes and sizes. Although I missed the scheduled shows, they looked fun and entertaining. My kids had a great time—they enjoyed seeing all the animals and loved the play areas and rides. You’ll need at least 3 hours to fully explore and enjoy everything. There’s a cafeteria where you can buy food, and the parking lot is massive. Be prepared for crowds if you’re visiting on the weekend. I recommend buying tickets online in advance to avoid long wait times. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any coupons or discounts available.

Kat Sykes 4 months ago

Experiencia positiva: This is a typical zoo, but is currently under construction... It looks like they're building a new front entrance. Enclosures are decent for the animals but the viewing windows are so dirty it's hard to take a decent picture. We went on a weekday close to the end of the school year and that proved to be a big mistake! There must have been 30 buses full of screaming kids. Hard to enjoy a trip to the zoo with so much chaos. The seals and the sea otters don't have very good enclosures from what we could see. Not much for enrichment!

Emily Urbine 4 months ago

Experiencia negativa: Where are all the animals? About every other cage or so had nothing in it. Other areas had only one of each animal. Took a 15 minute walk on a path with no exhibits. Dippin dots $8 for a mini cup. $6 for a water. No one working in the gift shop. Eye sore of a construction zone at the main entrance…and through out the whole thing. Everything very overgrown making it difficult to find little animals however maybe they just weren’t there to begin with. This zoo just needs a little hiatus to get its shit together. Please get rid of bat exhibit. Smell was horrendous. They deserve a glass case too. Also who stole all of the picnic umbrellas. Nothing like some sun scorch while eating my $10 hot dog. Very disappointed.

L Lauria 4 months ago

Experiencia fantástica: Fun! Wear walking shoes. Bring water bottles for the kids. Cheapest non sweet is hot dog at 5.99 I think. Sunscreen and sunglasses!

Experiencia positiva: Really cute little zoo with lots of animals. Definitely a bit smellier than other zoo. I have frequented, but I do enjoy the landscaping and paths in this one. The playground is super fun. Aquarium is small, but does a trick for kids who want to see underwater animals. Good food options.

Jeordie 4 months ago

Experiencia positiva: The price for getting in is fair for a zoo. In my opinion this is a pretty big zoo! Lots of different unique animals to see. Unfortunately, some of the animals were moved for the season when I visited in April and some just were missing? Not sure where they went. And of course you cannot control if any of the critters are sleeping or hiding so that’s just that. But regardless of that, it was still plenty of fun! My favorites were seeing the seals and sea lions swim overhead and seeing Louis the giraffe! He was friendly and came right up to us and chilled for a bit. I didn’t utilize it myself, but I really appreciate the “Sensory Bag” they have available to borrow for if anyone in your party has some sensitivities to sounds, etc. The only real complaint I have is the price of food. I know you expect that when you go to any sort of amusement place, but it cost more for the food than the tickets! An Uncrustable was $10! I believe I spent $50 on food for two people. So be prepared for quite the expense if you plan to eat there with a lot of people! Other than that one gripe, I really enjoyed my time here and would return in the future!

Brandon Randolph 4 months ago

Experiencia positiva: Went to the zoo and aquarium on a Wednesday and the weather was perfect outside. We get there to find construction and a lot of empty enclosures. No polar bear, female lions sleeping all, day one gorilla sleeping in a field, no tiger. Overall it was a really lack luster experience. Only got a good shot at the elephants and the giraffe. Everything else was sleeping or far away or empty.

Rebecca Morton 4 months ago

Experiencia positiva: I've been to a lot of zoos. This one has a lot of walking uphill. Spent most of the day trying to find the exhibits. And part of the exhibits didn't have any animals outside to be seen. If going to the zoo for a fun family day with the kids, this definitely would not be my first choice.

Tonia 4 months ago

Experiencia negativa: It was super packed which is fine but everything was taking so long. We had to wait and see each animal and waited almost 40 much for our food which set us so far behind that by the time we got to kids kingdom the zoo was closing and my kids didn't even get to see everything. I feel like we were there with sufficient time but waiting for food set us back. The food was also terrible. The chicken tenders were terrible,so dry and tough my kids didn't like them. We also paid 75 dollars just to feed 3 kids...it's a shame we spent so much money only to not be able to eat the food plus miss half the zoo. My kids were very disappointed

Jennifer Reamer 4 months ago

Experiencia fantástica: Love visiting the zoo! Currently, there is some construction going on throughout the zoo, but don't let that stop you. Staff are friendly, the zoo is clean, and there is plenty to see and do. It's a great Pittsburgh attraction!

Lilah Geiger 4 months ago

Experiencia positiva: Zoo was very clean and well kept. First time here so we weren’t sure what to expect. The zoo isn’t huge but it’s also not small. Took us just a few hours to look around. Many of the animals weren’t out due to habitat renovations and upkeep but I guess that’s not a bad thing. Animals here looked mostly happy and healthy. The food here is also great! I don’t think I have ever had such good food at a zoo. Very large menu/many options to choose from and lots of seating! Gift shop was also nice but which it was a little bigger with a few more options for souvenirs.

Victoria Scott 4 months ago

Experiencia fantástica: I highly recommend going as soon as the zoo opens. My husband and I stopped by around noon and still didn't have time to see everything. I'm pleased to say that I highly underestimated how big this zoo was and can't wait to return to see the rest.

Experiencia fantástica: Brought my preschooler and toddler for a nice family day trip. Entertaining and fun for about 4 hours. The kids loved all the ani.als and everything was visible! We especially love coming when it's a bit cooler and the animals are active!

Rich O 4 months ago

Experiencia fantástica: A little pricey. $22 for an adult. Food was just as expensive but you have the option to pack your own which is great. But the zoo is really nice. Animals seem happy. It's a nice walk also. We walked nearly 4 miles. Hilly, up and down. Nice atmosphere.

Carolina Pahl 4 months ago

Experiencia fantástica: Great place to visit with a lot of animals! The zoo is clean with plenty of walking to see everything. We visited the first friday of May and their reptiles were still not out if anyone would care to see them. Although it is a place where animals are kept in cages, they all appear well fed and protected. Bring a raincoat or umbrella if it looks like rain, we got soaked during a downpour and obviously didn't bring either. The aquarium is also a nice addition that is included in the price of admission. Early May is cheaper than later in the year. $23 per adult for a weekday. It appears to increase as the season gets warmer.

Gordon Shaffer 4 months ago

Experiencia fantástica: Great zoo and regional favorite. The day was sunny and warm in late April. Many young children could be seen with their families enjoying the park and the wild creatures. Unfortunately, we visited when a good number of the animals were still under shelter for winter. So, some exhibits were empty or not ready for use. The animals looked healthy and well cared for. The zoo has done a good job by re-creating natural habitats/enclosures for the animals and marine life. Daily admission can run up for a family, though two years and under are free. The annual membership is the route to go if there's a chance of going more than once. Free parking. There's nothing like the zoo.

Becca Johnston 4 months ago

Experiencia fantástica: Loved how fun this zoo was. The signage throughout the zoo and in the exhibits was funny, educational, and themed differently than the zoos back home. The aquarium was pretty impressive too. It was a really good time! Just be aware of large field trip groups. I found it perfect to separate myself between two huge groups so I wouldn't have too many loud interactions.

Dmyth CacaLito 716 4 months ago

Experiencia positiva: We went on a Weekday and got there around 1:30 pm. So, many of the food places were already closing up by the time we got to them. Parking was free, which was awesome. Having a zoo membership definitely helped with the price of admission. For the animals that were out when we went, they were fairly active, and you got some good viewing time. Still, quite a few were not out for us to see, unfortunately. The aquarium was a very nice addition. Beautiful fish with quite a large variety. I thought we wouldn't have time to see everything because we got there later in the afternoon. But, we made it through pretty much the entire zoo & Aquarium. I got some cool pictures, but my phone died before the aquarium. Overall, it was a nice visit & fun activity with the family. We have been to our fair share of zoos, hence the 4 star. It was. Ot to take away from anything. If you are out there and looking for something to do for a couple of hours, it is a nice visit. The sign to find it, however, was not very noticeable, so be on the lookout when approaching.

Todd McCarter 4 months ago

Experiencia positiva: It was nice to take my daughter to the Pittsburgh zoo for the first time. It was off-season for some of the animals as I went in early April. I suggest to wait until May when more animals are out.

Sara Sweeney 4 months ago

Experiencia positiva: I had been to this zoo before and couldn’t wait to return with family. Things have changed in the past couple of years. Between construction of the facilities, empty exhibits and overall unkept areas, it was a lackluster experience. The animals that we did see often looked sad or even ill. Unfortunately I would no longer recommend a visit here, especially for the $20+ entrance fee. The best part was the aquarium as it had the most exhibits open.

Experiencia fantástica: A great medium sized zoo. Easy to walk through for all ages. On average my family spends 3 hours there. Lots of free parking available. Limited food options. There are two playground areas, both excellent. One has fast slides, not recommended for new walkers. They have a staircase or a net climb. The other playground is quite large and is recommended for children of all ages. There is shade and seating in both play areas.

Experiencia positiva: A nice zoo with an aquarium to explore as well! A great variety of animals that appear to be well cared for by zoologists and staff! Many super kind staff membership to share information and stories along the way... Some of the glass distorts viewing but I recognize that a Pat for the course. Zoo appears to be very family friendly!

Experiencia positiva: It was nice. My boyfriend and I recently visited on our anniversary trip and it was exciting and fun to see all the animals and aquatic creatures in the aquarium. My only complaints are that the food is crazy expensive (although that is to be expected) and some of the animals weren't outside. Many pens were being cleaned so the animals couldn't free roam, others were simply not in their enclosures. I would have enjoyed seeing more than I did, however, the animals I did see were nice.

Belinda Trott-Stouffer 5 months ago

Experiencia positiva: It was really nice... I love the aquarium... workers were all nice. The food and drinks were a little overpriced, and the giftshops for stuffed animals. Overall, it was a very nice time out.

Emily Smith 5 months ago

Experiencia negativa: The zoo is not like it used to be when I was younger. We were excited to take our son for the first time. The cost of the tickets alone are expensive especially for the lack of animals to see. So many of the animals are not in their exhibits, which is so disappointing. There are too many projects happening at once. It makes it feel like the zoo should just be shut down while they do all of this work. Half of the bathroom sinks and blowers did not work. I went to order food and they had to refund me because the food was frozen. They didn't bother to offer me something else or try to accommodate me. Just told me they'd refund me. The aquariums was so disgustingly warm on an 88 degree day they should have ac on to allow guest to cool down. It just would be nice if more animals were out to be admired, which is why people come to zoos.

Experiencia positiva: It was an ok zoo , but $25 entrances fee was a lot , no functioning water places , to be honest the zoo looked very sad

Experiencia fantástica: We've been here a zillion times over the years. It remains a nice urban zoo. I hope the entrance gets completed soon as that is quite underwhelming. This is a manageable zoo to do in one afternoon.

Experiencia fantástica: What a delightful work retreat day. The education building was so nice and they offered a plant based lun that was delicious. We had an animal experience with a green wing macaw. We enjoyed the zoo and most especially our visit with Hidari the hippopotamus and his handler Mo who was so nice. Mo told us all kinds of information and really made that visit so special. Mo really went above and beyond you could tell he really loves his job and the animals.

Experiencia fantástica: Amazing! Lots of walking up hill but otherwise enjoyable. The kids area is very fun and interactive. The habitats for all the animals are well sized which was nice to see. I love their otter exhibit the most!

Experiencia fantástica: We came here as a family for the lantern festival at night and it was really cool we all enjoyed it so much. The amount of work and effort that went into that is amazing. We will definitely be returning to the zoo in the normal day operations to see all the animals

Experiencia negativa: Definitely not a 4.5. It was small-ish, dirty, and just had no Wow factor at all. The food was crazy expensive as expected which would have been fine had there been great animals/viewing experience. You couldn't even see 90% of the monkeys, no crocs, only 1 polar bear, and very limited everything else. The aquarium was also small, dirty, and forgettable. Both the aquarium and the Zoo were pretty lame. I wish it were better. I would save your money up and go to Atlanta's Aquarium and Busch Gardens. At least you will be happy when you leave.

Experiencia positiva: This zoo is nice. I like that it includes a solid aquarium. Good food options. I do agree with other reviews that some exhibits are closed or animals aren't available to see. However the weather was nice when we went so there was still plenty to see. Parking is free. The admission seems a little much but that's bc we are from DC where the zoo is free . It's worth going to this one though, we had a nice time and my kids enjoyed it

Experiencia positiva: We took our kids to this place during their spring break. They enjoyed the whole. Day. It was not as crowded so it was perfect. We wish we had seen more Animals though. 4 star is for not being able to see some animals and it is probably because of the weather and also, we had ordered a burger and it came out without cheese. No one likes their burger without cheese.

Experiencia negativa: Fish tanks for sea lions were very dirty. Algae everywhere. Before entering the Aquarium the fish tanks outside, a person cannot see in them. When walking through the aquarium, the informational signs didn't match the tank species, more times than not. The sharks have little space to swim, while sharing their home with many other fish. The Zoo... Very little space for the animals to rome, and leap. Felt sorry for them. Those that would like to climb have very little space above with very short trees to climb. The alpacas were recently sheared. It is COLD! They were actually shivering. Employees very friendly, but how do they stay warm or cool when sitting in the elements without protection, waiting for a coin to be thrown into a box? Overall good attempt, but much improvememt needed. I am not an activist, but I need to speak up for these animals, and sea life.

Experiencia fantástica: What a gem! The entire family had a great time. Plenty of animals to see and the aquarium was awesome. The staff was friendly and very helpful.

Experiencia positiva: I guess it's hit or miss we didn't get to see most of what we wanted they did have about half the exhibits open but the other half closed really felt like the tickets should've been half the price maybe post on your website what's closed so people don't go in with their hopes up I'd go again for a discount but not for full price just not worth it

Experiencia fantástica: Very nice zoo and aquarium. An Ice Age exhibit is currently happening Spring 2025. Some areas are being remodeled. Very walkable with family of all ages. Shady on hot days and sheltered exhibits on rainy days.

Experiencia fantástica: Really nice zoo. All the pens were clean, lots of toys and enrichment available for the animals in their pens, staff was friendly and we were able to listen to some of the keepers tell the public about their animals.

Experiencia positiva: My family had an amazing time at the Pittsburgh Zoo! It was a beautiful day, and everything from start to finish made for a great experience. The staff we interacted with were pleasant and helpful, and the animals were active, which made it even more enjoyable. A couple of things to note, though. First, if you’re thinking about buying prepaid tickets to save time don’t bother. The line for prepaid tickets was actually longer than if you just bought them at the gate, which didn’t make much sense. It felt like we were being penalized for planning ahead. Second, the ice cream stand in the middle of the zoo was a joke. The price was clearly displayed as $0.99, but when I went to pay, they charged me $8 for a small cup of soft serve. When I pointed it out, they just shrugged and said, “The price is wrong.” I don’t see how that’s my problem, but okay? That being said, I wasn’t about to let some high school kid on a power trip ruin an otherwise perfect day over ice cream. Everything else was fantastic, and we’ll definitely be back! Just be aware of these small hiccups if you go.

Experiencia fantástica: This is a very excellent zoo that is well maintained. We enjoyed seeing the giraffes and the elephants. We saw an elephant getting a bath. The reptiles were very intriguing, too. There are lots of animals to see. In my opinion, families will enjoy their day at this zoo. I highly recommend it. Enjoy.

Experiencia fantástica: What a great place to spend the afternoon with my son and grandson! It was a bit early in the season so many animals were not available to see yet but still a delightful time enjoying the zoo and what was available! There are a lot of hills to walk so ne prepared but we enjoyed the walk ( and hills). Wish they had more variety of food and drink.

Experiencia positiva: I would give 5 stars if they did half price tickets for winter and spring months. I understand a lot of the animals and exhibits won’t be open due to the animals needing adequate heat and sunlight but none of the outside animals were out besides the polar bear and red pandas. The monkey exhibits were completely closed which they don’t mention when buying a ticket even though it’s mostly indoors. The only part that’s really open is the aquarium which is actually my favorite part so I am not upset I had to pay 23 usd because the aquarium alone is worth that. But it is frustrating they don’t mention anything that isn’t currently open. The restaurant and small shops were also closed besides the gift shop. Other than that the zoo is very clean. The animals look well maintained and healthy. The staff are very friendly and helpful. And although the Zoo isn’t huge it makes use of its space very well so no matter where you’re at you’re close to animals.

Experiencia fantástica: We visited the Pittsburgh Zoo during a weekend trip to Pittsburgh. The zoo is beautiful and very clean. The exhibits provide great views of the animals. The playground is very large and a great place for kids to play. Definitely recommend visiting if in Pittsburgh!

Experiencia positiva: This zoo is amazing. You can get so close to animals through these wonderfully designed exhibits. We spent about 3 hours to meander around by group .Worth to go and visit, specially when you have kids who love animals ♥️ so much fun.

Experiencia fantástica: We’re from out of town and it was our first time visiting this zoo and aquarium. We paid $45 for a family of 3 (1 military 1 adult and 1 child) and we had a blast! It was still winter season so a lot of animals were still in their winter homes. However, this did not stop us from having a great time. There was no crowd so we felt like we had a private session with every animal! We got up close and personal with many animals and even took our time. The aquarium felt like an amazing bonus and our $45 went a long way here. Planning to go back in the summer for more fun. I’m

Experiencia positiva: My husband I brought two grandchildren to the zoo today I personally have always loved the zoo experience but today it was quite disappointing So many animal exhibits were empty- no animals!! I am not sure why but it seems you might adjust your prices and alert the public that many animals are missing It would seem that as internationally renowned zoo you might correct this oversight We only traveled from the Hampton area What if many families had traveled a distance ? In fact I met a young mother by the sharks( who were present)she immediately began to lament the absence of key animals My question? Where are they?

Michelle Lugo 6 months ago

Experiencia positiva: I'm glad we went. It was a little cold, but I wish there were a few more animals walking around.

Experiencia positiva: I want to love it but I can't. Staff are wonderful and friendly. The volunteers are amazing. The special events are nice. The zoo itself is underwhelming. There is a lot of space in between exhibits. It's just lacking. The polar bear area has potential but it offers nothing. For years this has been my biggest disappointment area. The reptile area is basically made up of rattle snakes. The aquarium is beautiful but small. Keep in mind that we do keep an annual membership. Like I said. I want to love it but I can't.

Experiencia fantástica: Christmas at the zoo was very enjoyable. The lights were very nicely done. They had some different setups that were really neat to see. Make sure to purchase your ticket online. That way, you're guaranteed a time slot.

Scott Cain 9 months ago

Experiencia fantástica: Went for the winter lights and nit did not disappoint. To be clear next to no animals are out in the cold at night. While we did get to see the Red Pandas chilling in their heated enclosure we saw very few other animals. The lights were great. The animals paper lantern lights were fun. The snacks you can buy are still tourist priced but reasonable. I hope it isn't exactly the same each year because we plan to go back!

Experiencia fantástica: We visited this place a couple times with the kid. Surprisedly, we explored something new every time. It might be a bit difficult to find a parking spot and have a long waiting line, especially for days with nice weather.

Experiencia fantástica: This zoo is amazing. You can get so close to animals through these wonderfully designed exhibits. Took about 3 hours to meander around by myself. Worth the drive from downtown to go see.

Experiencia fantástica: Not to big yet, not too small. We got there at about 11:00 and saw both by 2:00. It was a rainy cold Saturday and only a few visitors. It's was nice having the place to ourselves. We strolled without any interruptions from anyone, and the animals were very engaging.

Sara Covolo 10 months ago

Experiencia positiva: I enjoy the zoo in the off-season since there are fewer people. I have been there when they are busy and it is too much for me. I also think the prices have become too high for the entrance fees, food, drinks, and souvenirs. I do really enjoy seeing the animals, though, and our kids love the play areas. Unfortunately, during this last visit, all of the play areas were closed off.
