Experiencia fantástica: The place is under construction presently, but the 3 indoor exhibits that are open were really well set up: the desert, the swamp, and the rainforest. We like the Galapagos tortoises were also very nice.

Stuart Forster 2 months ago

Experiencia fantástica: This zoo is spacious and a popular attraction for families. It has events throughout the year, in July 2025 will open a new zone for its primates.

Experiencia negativa: I’m currently here now, and I was just wondering if I’m going to see animals. Monkey house is closed. So, I kept walking to the rhinos; that house is closed. So, I walked to the bisons; they were off exhibit. Maybe we’ll see the bears? The joke with the (disappointed) kids right now is when we we say let’s go to see ____, they say “maybe.” I grew up in Chicago and going to this zoo. I feel like it’s a shell of what it used to be and a bigger shell of what is available elsewhere now. I’ll stick to zoos like the North Carolina Zoo in the future. Animals have more natural / larger exhibits, and you see more animals with a better overall experience. If this is all you can get to, it’s okay. Just don’t have the expectations to be “wowed.” UPDATE: No bears either. LOL! Off to the next animal? I feel like I’m at Jurassic Park: “Now eventually you do plan to have [animals] on your [animal] tour, right?” 2nd UPDATE: The giraffes are outside, so we got to see them after the (lack of) bears, but we still ran into the another sign at the giraffe house (see picture). We’ve gotten used to these signs!!!

Experiencia fantástica: We went here in the middle of May 2025. It was such a fun experience for our little toddlers. There was so much to see, we were little bummed the gorilla enclosure were closed off for renovations but we still had a lot of fun. The restrooms were kept clean which was nice. We were by the sea lions and the seals. We were watching the staff members feed the seals and they came over by us so we could get a better look! What a treat, perfect way to end our day. Thank you guys!

Experiencia positiva: The zoo was lots of fun! Going in the middle of the week it wasn’t too busy. The animals were all really close up and you were able to get a good view. The animals all looked well cared for and happy. However, there’s a lot of walking in between all of the exhibits and sometimes on uneven ground. The gift shop pricing is insanely over priced, they were selling a small bottle of lower spf sunscreen for like $30.

Experiencia fantástica: This is always a scheduled stop when we come home to visit! Especially loved that we got to see a flamingo parade and the peacocks!

Experiencia fantástica: Brookfield zoo is wonderful! It's amazing to me that these exotic and beautiful creatures coming from all over the world are all sitting here, magnificently in this beautiful property. Some may find it boring, but watching these animals go about their days and relax in their habitats is so peaceful. I personally love museums and looking at old fossils, but with those you have to imagine what the animals acted like, but with the zoo, you can see it first hand. I've been to a few zoos in my time, and while most were alright, Brookfield Zoo was the obvious outlier. Whether you're taking little toddlers or seniors, there is truly something for everyone!

Caitlin Sullivan 3 months ago

Experiencia positiva: I would have given 5 stars. However the music they played in the zoo was loud and could feel the vibrations throughout the park. Having been at the shedd during a prom, that vibration affected the animals there. I would think the same would be happening to the animals there. Maybe revisit the sound or area for the music. Otherwise a great visit!

Experiencia fantástica: Our hometown and favorite zoo. We have had a pass for quite a few years. We can never see everything in one day and they're always changing or updating some things to experience all over again.

Steven Pflanz 3 months ago

Experiencia fantástica: Great Zoo! They keep it clean and organized. Part of the zoo is under construction but that's a good thing because it means that they care enough to keep it maintained and updated. The best Zoo in Illinois and it's not even close. Tickets don't need to be purchased in advance, but you can if you want!

Experiencia fantástica: Went for the LIVE concert. These guys never disappoint. Zoo staff was great. If they could have turned down the heat outside that would have been great.

Experiencia fantástica: I wanted to review this place because I visited it in 2018. I just wanna say, this place is amazing and beautiful! I loved this place. For 5 people, it was only 30$ we got free cotton candy as soon as we entered. We went and saw the dolphins and the tigers. And I’m not sure if they still allow this but we got to feed the goats. I’m not sure either if they still have goats, but in 2018 they did! We saw the giraffes and my kids played on a playground. And again. There might not be a playground anymore. But in 2018 they did. There is a sandbox museum we went to. AGAIN LIKE I SAID. It might not be there anymore but it used to. I really loved this place and may visit again soon!

Experiencia negativa: Sunday on Father’s Day me and my son attended the zoo, on our trip we decided to grab a water and some cotton candy from one of the stands, this morning while checking my bank account I noticed some discrepancies, I noticed a whole lot of small charges on my card starting with few “Brookfield zoo” charges when I only made ONE singular purchase. At the checkout out time I tried using cash but the guy at the stand said they don’t accept cash. Well according to the website they DO ACCEPT cash. I believe the guy is skeeming the cards. When attending the zoo I would suggest using cash so like me your not left with over 250$ missing from your account.

Experiencia positiva: Fun with lots of animals including the big ones. The snow leopard had an outside enclosure in 90 degree heat and was panting which is questionable. More than half the food and drink places weren't open even by noon this is sometimes and the place was busy. Sunscreen which is normal $5 was $30 so prices are crazy even for tourist place. Otherwise it was fun.

Experiencia fantástica: A great experience for all ages. Parking was painless, it was not over crowded on a Tuesday morning. Can’t wait to see the new tropical world open up!

Justine Miller 3 months ago

Experiencia positiva: We love going to the zoo! There are lots of animals we love visiting. We were sad the dolphin's entire exhibit was closed. Also sad to hear about the tiger. Hopefully, they'll get another! I wish it wasn't so expensive to eat there.

Metal Dad 3 months ago

Experiencia positiva: Gets crowded fast go early. Everything costs extra. Concessions are expensive. Parking cost. Look in to season passes. Offers discounts on concessions parking etc. Most exhibits are open. See it all in four hours or so. Give or take.

Experiencia fantástica: This Zoo is my all time favorite to visit in the Midwest. It has always been clean when we’ve gone. The animals always looked healthy and under the circumstances, happy. I highly recommend if you’ve not visited this Zoo yet, that you do so because you’ll never regret it. Take a camera! ☺️ , , .

Joseph Brandstatter 3 months ago

Experiencia fantástica: We've been members of Brookfield Zoo for several years now. We always enjoy how spacious the zoo is and doesn't ever seem too crowded. We can't wait to see the new Gorilla exhibit opening this summer.

K Hanna 3 months ago

Experiencia negativa: This is the worst zoo I have ever visited. Lots of exhibits closed or under construction. Mostly all food and other vendors were closed. Kids were complaining about lack of animals. They couldn't feed the animals in the petting zoo, they were told "they are sleepy" Had I known the animals were not there, I would have gone to Lincoln Park Zoo. I hope this review saves someone's money and time. Definitely to expensive for the experience.

Meghan Conklin 3 months ago

Experiencia fantástica: Best zoo to be able to say “wow! Look at that!” Over and over and over again

cuebruce 3 months ago

Experiencia positiva: It's a nice zoo with quite a lot of exhibits to see. While I was visiting, two or three were closed to the public due to construction or cleaning. Call ahead to find which exhibit is closed, don't get stuck paying full price and not being able to see your favorite creature. That said, being your walking shoes and fat wallet. It's expensive.

Experiencia fantástica: Nice zoo, good variety of animals and scenery. I went on a sort of hot day- thankfully there are plenty of air conditioned exhibits, spaced reasonably well across the zoo.

Anjie Brown 3 months ago

Experiencia positiva: The gorillas and the lion were unavailable but everything else was great.

Experiencia positiva: Nice and beautiful zoo , with many interesting Cats and many kangaroos, and giraffes. The foos is nice also. Some parts are closed for reconstruction like the gorilla part I guess.

Kristiana Alyssa 3 months ago

Experiencia positiva: Had a wonderful time today with family! Lots of animals to see and things to do. I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 for a few things that could be improved. The biggest issue I noticed is accessibility. While the zoo has wheelchair-accessible bathrooms and ramps, some attractions aren’t ideal for all guests. For example, the snow leopard exhibit has a lower level with uneven terrain that made it hard for some visitors to access—I saw one person in a wheelchair waiting outside while the rest of their group went in. The picture I attached was not possible to see if the viewer is a wheelchair user. Another spot is the underwater dolphin viewing area. It is accessible, but guests using wheelchairs end up behind the crowd, farther from the tank. Adding a closer ramp or a designated viewing space would make a big difference. Also, the $17 parking fee feels a bit steep considering the condition of the lot—lots of bumps and overgrown grass in every area. On the plus side, there’s plenty of space to park. Overall, I had a great time and these things didn’t impact me directly, but I wanted to share in case the zoo is open to making improvements!

Joe Firm 3 months ago

Experiencia fantástica: Nice zoo with many attractions. Highly recommend.

Sadys Ford 3 months ago

Experiencia fantástica: Really fun and big enough that you don’t feel overcrowded with other visitors. Really easy to navigate with the app and great for a family outing. Some exhibits were more active than others so keep in mind the time of day and if there’s feeding times you can plan your visit around. We’ll definitely be back!

evelyn garcia 3 months ago

Experiencia negativa: A lot of walking involved which is good for your health but they need to have more restaurants open early. The one thing I did not like at all is every way you walk there is duck poop! Also the food is disgusting and expensive.

Jazilyn Britton (Jaz) 3 months ago

Experiencia fantástica: Was nice and very clean other then some bird poop lol

Amelia Horques 3 months ago

Experiencia negativa: It’s such a shame that things like this still happen. It’s not normal for two dolphins to be in a swimming pool when they should be living in the ocean. It’s heartbreaking to see how humans, out of selfishness or ignorance, fail to recognize where these animals truly belong. Dolphins deserve freedom, space, and to live in their natural habitat—not to be confined for entertainment. I truly hope you understand that soon

Mary Roach 3 months ago

Experiencia positiva: I haven't been to this zoo in years. I decided to take my husband on a nice, cool day. We packed a small snack pack with water and got our 10,000 steps in for the day. I was disappointed that the gorilla enclosure was under construction for an indoor, outdoor enclosure for them. It was nice and cool that day, not hit and stinky.

Experiencia fantástica: Its very nice and clean zoo and also all animals are very nice and healthy so all over the best zoo in chicago

jay cee 3 months ago

Experiencia negativa: Way too much money 100+. Charge for everything even a butterfly exhibit if you're not a member. That's not even part of the zoo. Many empty cages. 17 dollar parking. Better to see other things in Chicago.

Aaron Harris 3 months ago

Experiencia fantástica: Amazing zoo, I know they were under construction on their apes exhibit I hope it will become something nice. I was there recently on a field trip with my AP Environmental science class. A lot of fun and amazing exhibits. I had also recently been to the Nashville and St. Louis and it compared pretty good.

Alayne Cline 3 months ago

Experiencia positiva: The exhibits are nice and the zoo is small. Several disappointing closures. Stay away from their bathrooms, they are absolutely disgusting! Floors were covered in water and mud, toilets were covered in urine and feces, no paper towels or any way to dry your hands. I was shocked to see this after how well maintained the rest of the zoo is.

Experiencia positiva: Loved it! Saw all the animals out! The only reason why I gave it 4 stars was because of the old ticket lady, with the other people she was very friendly but once we go their her attitude changed towards us.

Experiencia fantástica: We love going to Brookfield zoo. They have a lot of fun things to do. Such as the dolphin show, parks, restaurants, food trucks, and obviously the animals. We enjoyed walking around and watching the animals. Especially the giraffes, big cats, kangaroos, rhinos and so much more. The ferris wheel was such a great experience as well.

Clarissa Bailey 3 months ago

Experiencia positiva: Best zoo in Illinois! The only thing I didn't like is there was no vending machines at the north gate entrance. Many professional drivers like myself drop off hundreds of customers and we appreciate the convenience of the restroom location and discounts, but no beverage in sight except for the water fountain. Most drivers stay stationery as some groups don't stay long so a quick vending machine with beverages and snacks come in handy.Could be placed inside restroom out door location, because $6 for a bottle of water is insane

Karen Jacobs 3 months ago

Experiencia negativa: Normally a great zoo but for some reason exhibits were closed for elephants, giraffes, monkeys, gorillas, rhinos, sea lions, cloud leopards, grizzlies to name a few. It was not posted on the website. I understand that exhibits need to be closed on occasion but DON’T close all the large animal exhibits at the same time or post it on the website or discount the tickets. Disappointed.

Mugii Amaranth 3 months ago

Experiencia fantástica: The zoo park was really good overall! The animals looked healthy, and the enclosures were clean and spacious. We especially enjoyed watching the bears and feeding the . The staff were friendly, and there were fun activities for kids too. It was good except a few things — some signs were missing or hard to read, so it was a little tricky to learn about certain animals. Also, a few areas were crowded, and it was hard to see the animals clearly. Still, we had a great time and would definitely go back!

Experiencia fantástica: their soft pretzels are the best I have ever had. 100000/10 recommend. But on a more serious note, I have loved Brookfield Zoo since I was a kid, and now even as an adult. The membership pays for itself if you plan on going to the zoo twice or more a year. Looking forward to their new exhibits that are anticipated in the next few years.

Experiencia positiva: Overall it was nice, however there aren't that many animals to see. The food is rather expensive which seems unnecessary given you are paying to enter unlike Lincoln Park zoo which is free.

Experiencia fantástica: We love Brookfield Zoo! I will say we do not like the new food options and them taking away regular fries. Not sure why they changed that but all in all. We love that Brookfield is a clean zoo and great environment.

J D 3 months ago

Experiencia negativa: Be prepared for an extensive amount of walking at this zoo, as the attractions are quite spread out and maps are hard to come by. My primary disappointment wasn't the walking itself, but rather the noticeable lack of animals throughout the exhibits. To ensure a more satisfying visit, I highly recommend creating a list of the animals you're most interested in seeing before you arrive.

Nicolette Anselmini 3 months ago

Experiencia positiva: Zoo has definitely gotten better over the years. Especially the food options! Still pricey, but if you’re a member you get a discount! Only annoying thing is the process of getting the food. They only have one register open & make everyone use touch screens to order(which do not allow cash)

Rachel Bussert 3 months ago

Experiencia fantástica: Love visiting Brookfield! This visit several exhibits were closed, but looking forward to seeing the upgrades next time we visit.

Kim Gudgeon 3 months ago

Experiencia positiva: We have season passes. I was disappointed that it is after Memorial Day and still so much is closed, fountains were not on, and the dolphin show was not much of a show. Way too much talking and not a lot of action. Nice to spend the day walking around and playing at the park but think they need some staffing to get where they should be this time of year.

Experiencia fantástica: I had an awesome time at Brookfield Zoo. The exhibits are spacious and natural, with animals all across the world! The zoo is easy to navigate, with plenty of places to relax and grab a snack. The staff was friendly, and it's clear they care about the animals. The bathrooms were very clean and that is a huge bonus!!! Plus, with upcoming renovations for its 100th anniversary, it’s only going to get better. Definitely worth a visit!

Experiencia fantástica: Lions and Tigers and Bears!! Oh My!!!! As born and raised locals we have gone to this zoo since we were kids. We now have a zoo membership and take our son! Members get FREE parking (normally $17?) they also get FREE admission and get to bring a guest for free each visit. Members also get FREE admission to all the attractions as well. Dolphin show, butterflies, Ferris wheel, carousel, etc. Outside food and drinks are allowed in so don’t forget to pack a lunch/snacks and bring a cooler! The dolphin show is a fun experience for all, and with their fairly new redesign it seems the 7 dolphins that call this home are very well cared for. They are also expecting a baby dolphin to be born within the next few months. Giraffes are my favorite and they have a great viewing area for them, including the ability to feed them. (This is something you have to $$ for) last year a baby giraffe was born, so it was cool to see how much he has grown. They are currently working on completing the new primate outdoor area which consists of 3 acres of open space for them to climb, play, and live happily. In comparison I would say Brookfield is on par with San Diego. They don’t host nearly as many different kinds of animals as San Diego does, but the atmosphere at Brookfield feels more family friendly, and the exhibits are a bit more immersive and fun for the kids. Definitely recommend for anyone local or visiting. It’s a great way to spend the day with friends and family.

Experiencia positiva: We went to the zoo uncorked: cocktails and feathers. It was super fun and well organized! Definitely worth the money. 1. The ticket was pricey, but it was unlimited drinks when you get in. 2. The zoo was not super crowded for the late night and it was nice to see things without crowds. 3. The programming was spectacular! There was a live band that was actually really good and amazing talks. They even let us feed the flamingos! 4. They had free photo booths set up! Cons: 1. Only part of the zoo is open. I personally liked this as it wasn't as overwhelming, but it is good to know. 2. This is a big one. They had a parrot that just seemed really, really unhappy. He was wanting to fly away so badly and just screaming. It really made me question the ethics of zoos. That's a bigger topic, and I didn't think of it when we got our tickets. I hadn't been to a zoo in years, so I kinda forgot. On the plus side, the zookeepers really care about the animals here. Rating well for the event and organization, removing a star bc I feel so awful for the parrot

Experiencia fantástica: I absolutely love this zoo. I grew up going to it with family and on school field trips. Now I can enjoy it with my own family. A membership makes it much easier. Just scan my membership card for included parking and again to get inside. No hassle at all. I especially like the playground inside to help the kids get some energy out.

Experiencia negativa: Went on a random Thursday in May 2025, most of the refreshment carts and food places were closed, most of the big attractions were closed (tigers, snow leopards, bears, tropical area etc.) Not worth the full price of admission. Should be heavily discounted if they’re going close a bunch of the animal exhibits. On the bright side, plenty of parking.

Experiencia fantástica: Brooksfield Zoo has a lot of animals to look at and view the gorilla exhibit isn't finished being built yet but there still is a lot of different types of animals to see good place to bring your family too.

Experiencia negativa: Given the number of reviews and the overall positive ratings, I know my review is somewhat of an outlier. I treated my daughter and her family to the zoo in early May 2025 and left pretty disappointed. There are no signs that I saw at the gates informing you of the closures to the apes, monkeys, rhinos, hippos, elephants, bears, etc. These are among the best exhibits and we were not aware of the closures until we were in the zoo. For the money you pay, this is a big disappointment. I checked the website afterwards and you have to scroll all the way to the bottom to learn about the closures. Clearly they do not want you to find out until you have already paid to get in. How about posting signs at the gates or making the notice prominent on the website? Or, discounting the price? There were other exhibits that were closed as well not to mention all of the small ones with no animals in them. There were some good attractions such as the giraffes, lions, and some of the bird exhibits. But overall, for such a big zoo, I left with the feeling that we really did not see a whole lot. So, it was a disappointing experience which was fueled by the lack of notice of such popular closures. For a $140, I expected more!

Nicole Albritton-Burnett 4 months ago

Experiencia fantástica: Beautiful zoo! I grew up going here and now I bring my own kids. Getting a picture with the lion up front is iconic. I love this zoo. It’s a long walk between animals but I don’t mind. It’s a good exercise but make sure to always bring a stroller for the little ones. They offer a lot of different food places. We liked the taco truck and the Dippin Dots. The gift shop is great. I found a cute shirt for my daughter and some cute stickers. We also love all the Moldaramas around the zoo.

Experiencia positiva: We had a great time got some free tickets for my son's birthday and took the family. It was kinda cold and wet day so there wasn't a big crowd which was nice. Only thing my son was disappointed cause they did have a big election shut down and that's the part that contained the sloth (his fav animal). We do plan to attend there again soon hopefully when the sloth exhibit is open again.

Dalton Fox 4 months ago

Experiencia negativa: For the price this zoo was pretty lame. Our zoo in St. Louis is free and is leagues prettier and more fun to explore. The exhibits and animals here were fairly unique, but they were mostly pretty small and when we visited most of them smelled absolutely horrendous. Even in May there were a large number of things closed or under maintenance and we felt like there should be cheaper off-season pricing to make up for the lack of activities. There were random peacocks walking around the zoo which was interesting and many of the exhibits let you get pretty close to animals but overall this zoo felt like a huge waste of time for the nearly $70 we paid for two adults.

Experiencia fantástica: A Wonderful Day at Brookfield Zoo! We had such an amazing experience at Brookfield Zoo! The grounds are beautifully maintained, and the variety of animals is truly impressive—from majestic big cats and playful dolphins to unique reptiles and birds. One of our favorite parts was the Tropic World exhibit and the Dolphin presentation, which was both fun and educational. The staff were friendly and helpful, and there were plenty of shaded areas and clean restrooms, which made it comfortable for families with kids. We also enjoyed the seasonal decor and activities—they really put thought into making the experience magical. It’s a great place to spend the day with family or friends, and I highly recommend getting there early to enjoy everything. Brookfield Zoo is more than just a zoo—it’s a place where learning and adventure come together. We’ll definitely be back!

Experiencia fantástica: I hadcome to this zoo when I was a senior in high school (1999) and always wanted to come back. We did a Chicago weekend trip and decided we wanted to come here. We loved everything about this zoo. So much fun. My only complaint was the penny press machines. Only one was working in the whole park. Besides that everything was great.

Experiencia negativa: I have worked at zoo during college and had gone for 50 years. Also we were members through the years as well. Our last two visits have been disappointing. Everything has changed and not for the better. Children's zoo used to have a barn with several animals and display areas. Living Seas had sections closed and wave was not working. Also used to have a kitchen area to walk through. Tropic World was closed. The Swamp had alligators. Several exhibits didn't have any animals and lots of construction. Hoping it will be better in summer.

Stuart M 4 months ago

Experiencia positiva: A number of renovations are going on (Apr 2025). Lots to see and do. Plenty of rest ròms and rides. Food stalls and vans/trucks onsite, and expensive, similar to an airport. Plenty of parking.

Jemlnlx 5 months ago

Experiencia positiva: Two large parking lots...the North is a bit further of a walk and costs $17 to park, while the South is a bit closer to the zoo and costs $20 to park. You can buys tickets online in advance...or at the gate...they are the same price either way. $30 for adults and $21 for children. Same with parking. The zoo was practically empty on the Tuesday early afternoon (12pm arrival) that we visited. At the North entrance, there is a souvenir shop, information desk and a place where you can rent carts/trolleys for toddlers/kids. Prices ranged from $12-20ish after returned deposit. There are only a few indoor exhibits where strollers/trolleys were restricted...but all of the outdoor and some of the other exhibits allowed them in. There are lots of animals and interesting exhibits to see throughout this large zoo. Be sure to plan your route accordingly. Of particular interest, we enjoyed the big cats, underwater dolphin tank, bears, and underwater fish/shark area. Lots of bird poop around on the floor throughout the zoo...mind your step! There were a bunch of animals that were out (understandably due to the colder weather) but also a few exhibits that were closed and under construction (Tropical World). May be best to visit when the weather is warmer...most of the animals would be out then.

Sara Sid 5 months ago

Experiencia positiva: There's a lot of construction going on because they're trying to expand some of the exhibits in time for the summer. The tropic house and butterfly garden were closed and some of the animals were indoors or hiding because of the cold weather. Lots of other programs were not in session due to being off season. I would definitely come back in the summer when it's warmer, and there are more animal interaction opportunities as well as programs for kids being offered. On a brighter note, considering it was the weekend, the zoo was not packed or busy like it would be in the summer.

Experiencia fantástica: What a beautiful zoo, I'm looking forward to being back when things are in full bloom. There's a large variety of animals to see and from what I can tell all look healthy and well taken care of. I'm looking forward to going on the ferris wheel our next visit.

Experiencia positiva: Beautiful and very clean zoo! The staff was very friendly. Prices were high for snacks and food, but that's expected. The variety of animals was also quite large.

Experiencia fantástica: I didn't get too many pictures. I don't understand why all the big cats, buy one we're sleeping. The other exhibits were nice. I did enjoy the water animals. Very relaxing. Food is expensive but they give large potions. Very good flavor. Seasoned food. Over all. I give my experience a 3 Star. My children gave it a 5 star . It's about the children. Not us adults I guess. Lol

Experiencia fantástica: 5/5 - Beware of birds. Canadian geese have invaded the park space and will hiss if given too much attention and will not listen to reason! The penguin exhibit has free flight birds that can swoop down and startle you if not expected so make sure to wear glasses to protect your eyes. If you’re a member you get into shows as well and can ride the attractions. The dolphin show was great and very informative with the dolphins respecting the splash zones that are designated. I’ll come back to the feathers and fangs exhibit which have birds that are free roam. Make sure to not have a phobia of birds here. The goats were quite lovely and had the utmost patience with the inquisitive toddlers intruding their space. Very understanding and respectful. The Icee I got from Cups n’ Cones was bold yet not too viscous. I wish the Gorilla exhibit was open on our visit but understand it was closed and I won’t elaborate on that in this review. Thank you.

Experiencia positiva: Well, it’s winter. That said, stuff will be closed. Visitor beware! The Tropic House and Pachyderm house and petting zoo are closed right now. That is a bummer. The rest of the zoo is still a great place. I recommend a membership for families, even for one visit. It’s easier on the wallet. We did get to see plenty of animals and my kids loved the place. The best part about winter is the crowds. We had the place to ourselves, the volunteers engaged with my kids and talked about the animals we could see, and the big ones (bears/lions, etc) that usually lay around in the heat were up and playing around during our visit. The zoo does need to do something with the old bear dens, and maybe update a few things here and there. Parking in the North Lot is free for members. You’ll pay in the South Lot. It’s not a bad walk. Bring your lunch. Enjoy a picnic. Enjoy the day.

Experiencia fantástica: I always loved Brookfield Zoo even as a kid the place never left me feeling bad. I still to this day love their various habitats and animals and it seems like I can never explore the whole zoo.

Experiencia positiva: We spent a week in Chicago and wanted to take the kids to the zoo. We only had time to go either to Brookfield zoo or Lincoln park zoo. Based on reviews we decided to spend money going to Brookfield zoo instead Lincoln park zoo which is free. We went on a weekday in early March. Plenty of parking space . the zoo was near empty. Because it wasn’t busy/crowded and I guess it was off season, all but one restaurant and one souvenir store were closed .The carousel along with the train ride ( additional fees a I believe ) was closed as well. We were able to cover most of the area. We missed some animals as they were probably hiding /sleeping/not very active. A small area was closed off. Some areas the animals were removed leaving empty spaces. Was it worth the price tag? Probably not. We travel often and have been to many zoos and this is one was a bit disappointing. The highlight of the trip was seeing the giraffes up close. They were hiding indoors as the weather was too cold for them to be outside.

Experiencia fantástica: One place to find animals from all continents. Visit after May as a lot of maintenance work is planned in April. Dolphin show is a must wach activity. If you want to see all the animals, then make sure you start your visit at the park opening time.

Experiencia fantástica: Several ticket booths make purchasing tickets easy on site. The zoo is easy to navigate and has lots to do. There are inside and outside exhibits so you can balance the hot or cold temperatures for a break depending on the time of year you attend.

Experiencia fantástica: Trying to enter the zoo w a paid family pass with a paid guest pass appeared to be doubted at the gate -no posted policies no posted information to make clear what is/is not expected with paid family pass and guest pass. Past the rebuke at entry / the zoo was beautifully available to the children with much learning opportunities -

Experiencia positiva: It's unfortunate what has happened to Brookfield. No more crocodiles, flamingos instead. Where did the crocodiles go? The river otter tank was empty. Are they ever going to be able to turn it around? Take a look at the Henry Dooley zoo in Omaha, Nebraska. The elephant territory is unbelievable! I can't remember the last time that Brookfield had elephants. A long time ago, when I was a kid. Tropic world is under renovation. If you try during the day you can see some skinny wolves far away. The Saving Grace for the day was watching the Bears play and swim. Other than that.....eh.

Experiencia positiva: The zoo itself has a lot to see. There were things closed at this time due to reconstruction, that was a little disappointing as my favorite are monkeys. I will say the lady at the ticket booth was so blatantly rude about everything. That was by far disappointing.

Experiencia fantástica: My family and I had a great time at Brookfield Zoo. There were plenty animals to see! The indoor exhibits were perfect for all ages. We’ll be back!

Experiencia fantástica: I love this zoo Not a single complaint about that, i believe every cent is worth it for the animals. But if you’re reading this and planning on going this is either a warning or a PSA to those who do this: Going while busy may cause a negative reaction. People will act like you’re a personal door holder while your kid is running away, don’t expect a thank you. They will complain about natural smells, geese being mean (never seen one blindly attack people so maybe you had it coming?), temperature of enclosed habitats. They don’t seem to wrap it up and let others view until they have satisfied their delusions of grandeur that an animal likes them a special amount. They leave bathrooms absolutely trashed and just drop actual trash. I enjoy my pass and bringing my kid often, my issue is the adults who act like they paid to ruin everyone else’s time. If you want a lovely visit an overcast cooler day is an amazing time… I’m assuming that is why you’re reading reviews.

Experiencia fantástica: My family has visited Brookfield about 10 times, and only once did we make it through the entire zoo. I recommend planning what you want to see. When we did the full zoo - we spend nearly 7 hours there. Usually we'll do 3-4 hours and see about half. There's pretty much every kind of animal you can think of. Many, many indoor and outdoor enclosures. They have an interesting trail with fake dinosaurs. The little kids' area has fun and educational stuff. There is a place you can feed some animals. There's a big carousel. There's a couple of playgrounds. Go over the map, plan your day, and ensure you have a lunch stop.

Experiencia fantástica: We took the kids in the offseason but it was still good. The kids had fun. The monkey house was not open, which was a bit disappointing but these things happen.

Experiencia fantástica: Brookfield Zoo is, by far, my kid's favorite zoo. We are members, so we can make it an affordable experience as long as we don't eat in the zoo restaurants. Prices in the eateries are outrageous, so don't do that..

Experiencia positiva: Wow they were working with all of the Seals etc. 4 trainers at a time. Can those animals eat fish! Fun to ride the Merry Go Round and learn the animals names.
