🗣️ Acuario Aquasearch: Opiniones
Experiencia positiva: Lovely to see a number of fish up close. Nothing "fancy" but at just $3 an adult and $1 per child, certainly nothing to complain about. Wonderful of the Dr to open his work up for public viewing.
Experiencia fantástica: I enjoyed my visit there it was a nice spot to wait for the bus. The animals look taken care of I would have loved to meet the Dr
Experiencia fantástica: Nice small display with colorful fish species. We were lucky to meet Dr Rick Braley (the host of the museum, and also one who has established two Snorkel Trails on the island), it adds a personal touch to the experience. There is a honesty box to pay $3 for a ticket, so he might not be there all the time. Access by around 20 min walk from the ferry terminal, or by bus from the terminal.
Thank you Sergey,.very happy that you visited.
Experiencia fantástica: Amazing story of local Dr of Marine Scoence into growing giant clams for replacing indigenous fishing on GBR
Thank you Peter. Aquaculture of threatend species is the best tool we have to make sure the species survives. While the GBR does have natural high density populations of the giant
clams the \indo Pacific coutries have over fished natural populations so the aquaculture of the clams is especilly important. I have helpted set up hatdheries there and seed clams produced at JCU's Orpheus Island Research Station were sent to the Philippines, Fiji, Tonga and Cook Islands in the 1980s to early 1990s. I was involved.
Experiencia fantástica: $3 donation to help the research of giant clam, growing them so they can go back into the reef. Worth a look
Marine parks would not be so keen for this since there are natural populations on the GBR. Needed in Indonesia, Philippines, & some Pacific Islands, however & I have been involved in thohse places with hatcheries. Tried for commercial aquaculture of clams in the Palm Islands but stakeholders could not work together.
Experiencia positiva: Interesting array of fish and corals. Dr Rick Braley has done amazing work with the giant clams.
Thank you Cathy, glad to hear you enjoyed your visit to my small aquarium. It is a labour of love, but it makes me happy to know that the display and information are appreciated. Cheers, Rick
Experiencia positiva: a small aquarium, very meaningful
Thank you. My display is self-funded Though not large, it is a place where guests can view some marine iife on Magnetic Island. Cheers , Rick Braley
Experiencia positiva: Sehr niedliches, aber auch sehr kleines Aquarium. Man ist nach 15 Minuten durch. Dafür kostet es für Erwachsene auch nur 3$. Auf jeden Fall einen Besuch wert.
I am a sole trader and also retired. Yes, it is a small aquarium but suited for Magnetic Island. It is ideal for visitors to see some marine life
Experiencia fantástica: Very good fish and coral
Experiencia positiva: Nice independent operation. And I found him!
Greg, thank you for visitng my small aquarium on Magnetic Island. I have no external support for my facility but trust that visitors can see some of the marine organisms that are found around Magnetic Island fringing reefs, as well as anemonefish which I sometimes can culture.
Experiencia positiva: Cheap and fascinating, but there’s not much to see, and it’s quite old
It is just a mom and papa marine aquarium display so visitors to the island can see something of fish and invertebrates, especially for those who can not snorkel. It is a labour of love, mate.
Experiencia positiva: Cute place
Experiencia fantástica: Cocky Guides is my business that provides group tours for blind and low-vision travellers all over Australia. On Magnetic Island we had a group of blind, low vision and deafblind travellers, plus a seeing-eye dog. We had a wonderfully educational and hands-on experience at the aquarium. Dr Rick, the owner, really took the time to understand our needs and made a couple of little adjustments to ensure it was a fun, inclusive and accessible experience for my travellers. We look forward to another calling in again on our next visit!
Thanks James. Just let me know when you come so I can be there to make it more interesting for them. Cheers, Rick
Experiencia fantástica: A small but very interesting piece of the underwater world. I got great pleasure
Experiencia positiva: No large pool currently a big loss. Our rooms noisy with traffic and all day pool refurbishment
Where did you go Steve? There is no pool refurbishment going on. This small public aquarium is a hallway of 7 tanks and open 9.30 am to 4.30 pm daily. 6 Elena St., Nlelly Bay
Experiencia positiva: Very interesting if you have a guide to tell you what it's all about
Experiencia fantástica: Very interesting and informative to see and hear the research being put into the clams and marine life.
Desmond, you are welcome. I just like to have a small place where visitors can see something of our inshore tropical coral reefs Cheers, Rick Braley
Experiencia positiva: If you have a guide to explain what you are looking at it's great to see the local fish populations..
Hi Miss JS. Glad to hear you enjoyed the aquarium. For such a small entry fee ($3 pp) I can not be at the aquarium all day to talk with visitors. There are information boards above the display tanks. Cheers, Rick
Experiencia fantástica: Good
Experiencia fantástica: A beautiful and informative display.
Thank you Katharine. Visitors to the island are keen to see marine life, and if they are not able to snorkel at least my small marine display gives them an idea of our inshore reef organisms around Magnetic Island. My website has many pictures and information ( www.aquasearch.net.au ). Cheers, Dr. Rick Braley
Experiencia negativa: Not much to see
For a small aquarium of 7 tanks in a hallway, there are sufficient numbers of different fish species, some corals, anemones and other invertebrates that can be found on our Magnetic Island reefs. The purpose of the displays is so visitors can see some of the underwater life on Magnetic Island without otherwise snorkeling on the fringing reefs. Also, information is available on the display boards above the tanks and about the two snorkel trails I set up on Magnetic Island for our local tourism organisation. Aquasearch aquarium is privately owned and not supported by large businesses or government.
Experiencia fantástica: Fun day out, good snorkeling
Experiencia positiva: Nice for a quick visit. Lovely that this place is donation on a trust basis. We donated and loved it
Experiencia fantástica: Doing a great job for the clams...
Thanks Ray, trying to maintain the small aquarium for guests to see some of the marine life around Magnetic Island. I am away in the Pacific doing some clam aquaculture work and glad I can still do this at 70 yrs old. Cheers, Rick
Experiencia fantástica: Great place
Experiencia fantástica: Very interesting
Experiencia positiva: 很棒的小水族館 除了展示一些可愛的熱帶魚種外 也有呈現貝類復育的說明 雖然不大但值得拜訪 免費 設有投幣箱 自行捐贈 逗留時間30分鐘以內
Thank you for your nice comments on my small marine aquarium. I am happy to maintain the display tanks so that guests to our beautiful island see some marine life. Kind regards,
Dr. Rick Braley
Experiencia positiva: This is a great place ran by one person absolutely unbelievable
Thanks Chef, if I can not be in the ocean every day at least I have it in my displays and so happy to share with visitors. Cheers, Dr Rick Braley
Experiencia positiva: Worth a visit for a $3.00 admission fee. Some of the rare varieties of fish are here.
Thanks Chandra, happy that visitors appreciate the display. Kind regards, Rick
Experiencia fantástica: A very interesting aquarium - well worth the visit.
Thanks Michael and Patsy. At least Magnetic Island visitors have my small aquarium to view local coral reef organisms, and it promotes the two snorkel trails I set up for Tourism Magnetic Island, Inc.
Experiencia positiva: Small aquarium. Donation to giant clam research is entry price.
Experiencia fantástica: Excellent. Dr Ric Braley knows his stuff. Did his PHD on the reproduction of the giant clam and is a leader in the field. Entertaining and enjoyable, kids will love it, all slimy and colorful.
Thanks for your nice comments, William. Our island-scale display aquaria have been enjoyed by many visitors since mid 1998 and we hope it remains an island attraction for many years more.
Cheers, Dr. Rick Braley
Experiencia fantástica: Worthwhile and inexpensive stop ($3 per person); a bit dated but displays have the magic inside with stunning reef fish and clams with the most amazing colours. Rick is passionate expert and also set up the snorkel trails on the island. Kids enjoyed this stop
Thanks Tim, glad you appreciated the display tanks; I am upgrading the outdated part, too. Cheers, Rick
Experiencia fantástica: Thanks Rick and Nell for showing us your beautiful tropical marine life.
Thanks Jacqueline. The clams, now being too large for my tanks, at least there two snorkel trails where people can see the giant clams , weather permitting. I am glad you enjoyed the aquarium display tanks.
Cheers, Rick Braley
