🗣️ Sydney Zoo: Reviews
Fantastic experience: zoo is a fantastic place for children to explore and learn about animals up close. It’s both fun and educational, sparking curiosity and a love for wildlife in young minds. A must-visit for families
Fantastic experience: Have visited numerous times with our toddler. A great size and easy to walk around. My daughter always has a great experience.
Fantastic experience: Sydney Zoo is a fantastic place! We took the family and were able to comfortably see everything in about half a day. We had a child in a pram, so the flat walking paths made it super easy to get around. There are plenty of shady spots to stop, rest, and watch the animals, which was a huge bonus. The animals all looked happy and well cared for, with modern, spacious enclosures that gave them lots of room to move and play. The whole zoo felt clean, beautifully designed, and thoughtfully laid out. One of our favourite parts was walking along the boardwalk to see the lions, giraffes, zebras, rhinos, and hyenas — such an awesome view and experience. Definitely a must-do if you’re in Sydney!
Fantastic experience: Great way to spend the day!
Fantastic experience: Place is great for kids and much better then taronga. Only draw back was lack of food options and expensive daily tickets. Yearly pass is much affordable and worth the money as we live nearby.
Fantastic experience: Lovely zoo, plenty of room and the Orangutan enclosure is the best bit!
Fantastic experience: Plenty of parking, friendly and helpful staff on arrival. Entrance to zoo and map was extremely helpful and easy to read. Layout was amazing, and loved how close we could get to some of the animals! 10/10
Positive experience: After walking around Sydney Zoo in the blazing heat, dreaming of the ice-cold craft beer advertised all over their “Beer Garden,” I was ready for that refreshing first sip… only to discover they don’t actually serve beer. Not a drop. Not even a sad mid-strength. The staff were friendly (bless them), but the experience felt like spotting an oasis in the desert — then realising it’s just a cleverly painted rock. If you’re going to advertise craft beer, please actually serve beer. Otherwise call it what it is: a garden.
Fantastic experience: I bring school grapes here, Staff are always accommodating to Coaches and drivers offering free entry and a Coffee on the day. Always entertaining and different things to view.
Fantastic experience: We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Sydney Zoo today. It was our first visit and we were certainly impressed. The animal enclosures were spacious, had lots of elements for enrichment activities for the animals and lots of greenery too! Getting about was easy, lots of people space and loads of seating options, most in the shade (greatly appreciated). Food options were good and reasonably priced and great customer service too! Gift shop was a generous size and was impressed by the reasonable pricing, especially the animal plushes. Overall, a great experience and we will be back again!
Positive experience: Small. Finished the entire zoo in just over 2 hours. Definitely purchase the tickets online so you get them at a discount & aren't paying full price as the value is questionable. $59 for an adult is ridiculous. Don't think Taronga Zoo would be far off that price and yet it is so much bigger.
Fantastic experience: For the amount of time that we had with a tour group 45 min, we saw just a small section of the zoo and essentially the Emu, kangaroo, and Koala, the key things that you'd want to see in Australia.
Negative experience: We were so excited for our visit to the zoo, but that excitement quickly turned into frustration and disappointment. Even though we had our e-tickets with QR codes ready (purchased via KLOOK), the entrance staff refused to let us in, insisting on a physical ticket. To make matters worse, we had to take a ferry all the way back to the terminal just to retrieve it. It felt like rules were valued more than people. What could have been a day filled with laughter and discovery became one of stress and disheartenment. The cold attitude of the souvenir shop staff only added to the letdown. It’s sad that such a wonderful attraction is let down by the very people meant to welcome visitors.
Negative experience: It’s disappointing that our visit was marred by the lack of empathy and flexibility from the zoo’s entrance staff. Despite having e tickets with QR codes issued by KLOOK, we were denied entry because a physical ticket was required — and we need to take a ferry back to the terminal to retrieve it. This unnecessary rigidity meant we couldn’t enter the zoo after travelling all the way there, which was truly disheartening. Unfortunately, the poor service extended beyond the entrance - the staff at the souvenir counters were curt and unwelcoming, which further dampened the experience. Overall, it’s a real pity that such customer service overshadows what could have been a pleasant visit.
Fantastic experience: It is a very well laid out zoo. Clean and organized. As part of the tour we had out photos taken with the Koalas . Have to admit, they're pretty cute. My wife fed the kangaroos, a Joey to be exact. She absolutely loved that portion of the zoo. All the animals we were able to see was very nice. I would definitely recommend a trip here to see this attraction. There are plenty of areas to rest, get a snack, a gift shop to buy souvenirs. The staff working here are very friendly and professional. They look after the animals very well and seem to enjoy their jobs and the animals they care for.
Fantastic experience: Amazing.Lots of animals and souvenirs. The price is good for a zoo in the capital of the city.
Positive experience: Well set out but not many animals were out on display as it was too hot for them. The reptile enclosure was full of screaming kids!
Positive experience: I recently visited Sydney Zoo and it was such a fun and enjoyable experience. The zoo is very clean, well-organized, and easy to walk around. The enclosures are modern and spacious, and it’s great to see the animals up close, especially the lions, giraffes, and elephants. The staff were friendly and gave good information about the animals. I really liked the Australian section where you can see kangaroos and koalas so closely. It’s also a great place for families—lots of food stalls, shaded areas, and nice places to take photos. Overall, Sydney Zoo is a perfect spot for a day out with family or friends. I highly recommend it for anyone visiting Sydney!
Positive experience: I liked the cultural aspect of this Zoo
Negative experience: We had a good visit to the Zoo. If you don’t have to travel far, I’d recommend it. Got nothing on Taronga, so don’t expect too much. And it’s hot. Do yourself a favour, do not buy any food. Absolutely, positively th worst food I have seen anywhere for about 3 decades. Surely it would not cost them any more to sell edible food. I didn’t think they made stuff this bad anymore. $13 dollars something for a hotdog made from some inedible synthetic material and I don’t know what the chicken nuggets were. Bring your own or don’t bother. Trust me, you will thank me later.
Positive experience: You have a lot of work to do, in order to make it close to others first class Zoos around the world l.
Negative experience: Customer service is terrible. if you have a disability they never answer the phones for you to reserve a wheelchair or any other device despite their website saying that is what you should do. Taronga zoo has much better customer service
Positive experience: The zoo is wonderful and a great place to spend time with the kids. Just whatever you do, rain, hail or shine, don’t eat the food. The prices are what you would expect in Mosman for barely edible, frozen, garbage.
Negative experience: The zoo experience itself was great easy to get around encounters were all good We hired a wheelchair for my mother which was great however after putting my mother in the car I went to entrance to return it Due to lack of staff and great numbers of the public it took me 15 minutes to reach the desk with only 2 overworked staff members serving. When I went over to the group area Were staff not doing anything was told I had to line up and wait Not good enough need to update the service protocols when times are busy
Fantastic experience: Great place to go on the weekend . If you like animals I highly recommend
Fantastic experience: We went to Sydney Zoo and did the Lion and Tiger experiences. All of the staff were so kind, friendly and eager to make our experiences something we'd never forget! I am so grateful to everyone at the zoo
Fantastic experience: First time we visited Sydney Zoo with our grand daughters. Bought our tickets online which are cheaper & no waiting. Best to come around 9.30am. Plenty free parking. Loved it as their were no stairs or hills easy to get around with prams. Plenty of areas to get cooled off with the fan mists on a hot day! The zoo is clean, animals are set out in a great environment. Even have an Aquarium which there is plenty to see. Visited the zoo today as Peppe Pig was coming. Nice day
Fantastic experience: This place is beautiful. We came with a blue mountain tour package and the visit was short but was well worth it. Really well maintained and lots of different animals to see. Kids had a great time.
Positive experience: Must visit with kids, Awesome place and staff is so nice
Positive experience: After spending hours navigating a 3 year old through the zoo, you then have to walk through the store to exit. Really not happy about that and I won't care when the 3 year old screams his head off because I won't spend any more money. The zoo itself is uset friendly and easy to get around
Fantastic experience: Not too big just big enough great for overseas visits love all the Aussie areas :) and the quokka :) the walk over the African part is super cool having multiple animals love together is cool. Seeing animals interacting with others pretty awesome. Saw ppl having the mear kat experience they looked like they were having a great time
Positive experience: OK Zoo. A bit underwhelming tbh. Not quite sure why. Possibly because the animals were a little too far away, felt impersonal…dunno. Back to Taronga Zoo Sydney…..sooooo awesome, one of the best in the world.
Negative experience: Overpriced and underwhelming. Barely any keeper talks during the time slot we were allocated to visit. Lunch was stale, cold, and overpriced. The 'Deluxe' Southern Fried Chicken burger was a schnitzel with lettuce and mayo. A hotdog with cheese and a Snickers bar will set you back $18.50. Not worth your time.
Fantastic experience: Way better than I thought it would be. Tots recommended
Fantastic experience: Beautiful spot. We heard a lion roar, we saw to elephants trying to one up each other (very funny). Really chill on a Saturday afternoon, raining, lots of shade though and benches to sit on to take in the views - it was a very pretty zoo to visit. So much to see - you’ll need at least half a day to wander around.
Negative experience: Absolutely heartbreaking seeing the animals in their enclosures. Enclosures are too small to hold the animals humanely. Don’t waste your money. It broke my heart seeing the bullshark in essentially a small pool.
Fantastic experience: There’s an understated quality here that really works. You might not notice everything at first, but give it time and it starts to reveal itself in the best way. It’s clear that effort went into making sure things were done right, even if it’s not flashy about it. The result is something that’s just solid, enjoyable, and worth spending time with. I’ll definitely be keeping this one in mind.
Fantastic experience: Absolutely wonderful. Fantastic layout and good priced gift shop
Fantastic experience: Kangaroo feeding and pictures with the Koala is recommended!
Positive experience: The zoo isn’t a huge one so you get around to all the animals, and it wasn’t too busy on a Sunday weekend. The kids enjoyed it overall but I couldn’t help but notice the animals were all so so skinny. You can see in a few other review photos that they are very skinny, the rhino, zebra, lion, dingo to name a few…
Positive experience: Discounted tickets when bought online from their website (also skips queue!). Nice flat terrain suitable for prams and less mobile. Can cover the whole place easily within 3 hours as smaller than Taronga. Decent enclosures for the animals with the ability to get a good view from some higher up areas so you can see the animals (i.e they're not hidden from view of they're sleeping at the back of the enclosure).
Positive experience: Loved it, I can't talk too much about it because I only go during the glow event but when I went I was amazed, I went to the ice skating area and let my brother ice skate for some time, then we went on the Ferris wheel and I loved the view, I also did the scavenger hunt they had for letters to spell out a word. They also had many stores selling glow items which I still have and they are so cool.
Fantastic experience: Small and compact zoo. May not have as many different exhibits as some of the larger zoos, but very good for its size and you can easily cover everything in a visit. Also has very reasonably priced food and drinks available, which is a plus.
Fantastic experience: I bought the annual pass in February and have been going to the zoo atleast once a week since! The annual pass is an absolute bargain, plus it’s perfect for mothers who need a change of scenery. The whole place is pram friendly and easy to navigate around. The staff are super friendly as well. My daughter loves running around and looking at the animals. The only thing I would change is I’d have more options at the cafes. If they had a privatised cafe and had cafe food then I think it would do really well - especially for the mums who go during the day. If you’re thinking about going, and know you will go there twice within a year, then definitely get the annual pass. Highly recommend this place!
Positive experience: Good zoo! The outdoor exhibits were really good, with big enclosures. However, I found the aquarium part of the zoo to be rather average and had a weird smell. Overall, I believe this is a good zoo, but small. Personally, I wouldn't pay $45 to enter due to its small size, but if you can get a discount, it would make it worthwhile.
Positive experience: I visited on the 19th of June 2025 and it's a really great zoo. Just was disappointed because there was no sharks in their aquarium. Was looking so forward to see the sharks but there was none. It was quite misleading because they had photos of sharks and about them but there was none. Otherwise it's a great zoo.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic visit! Highly recommend for a fun family day out.
Fantastic experience: Sydney Zoo exceeded our expectations! The variety of animals was fantastic — we saw elephants, lions, crocodiles, and hyenas, all looking healthy and active. Some of the highlights were the capybaras, Tasmanian devils, and wombats, which were fascinating to watch. We were lucky to visit around lunchtime when many animals were particularly active. It's a great destination for families with kids. Although we didn’t attend the GLOW event, we saw the setup and it looked stunning — vibrant lighting, beautiful decorations, and a few amazing rides for children added a magical touch to the atmosphere. Overall, a must-visit attraction that offers something special for all ages!
Fantastic experience: Great zoo for the family. Easy layout with flat paths and good viewing points. Good selection of African animals.
Fantastic experience: Such a great zoo, great prices as well. The animals are well taken care of, great place for family outing. With small coffee stops along the way and a restaurant for lunch, well thought out layouts.
Fantastic experience: Visiting the zoo was part of our tour, but honestly, even if it wasn’t, we would’ve made our way there anyway, and probably spent even more time exploring! I’ve been to quite a few zoos, but the animals here just seemed extra adorable. Maybe I’m biased because the koala stole my heart right from the start, or maybe we just caught them all in an unusually cute mood that day. Either way, just look at these photos!
Fantastic experience: We have annual pass so I take the kids quite often. Love how they have a different theme all the time. Keeps the kids entertained. Well maintained.
Positive experience: Great place to visit, reasonably flat ground even for older people with walkers and wheelchairs.Great aquarium .Food is overpriced and was cold so make it a picnic and bring your own.
Positive experience: Great zoo with a wide range of exhibits, all the animals seem to be well taken care of and staff are friendly and understanding.
Fantastic experience: Great day out for the kids and reasonably priced compared to other zoos. Clean, lots of room for prams and plenty of parking. Buy tickets before you go to save a little extra $
Fantastic experience: So much fun, especially the Australian area as we got to feed a kangaroo and got photos with a koala. Best zoo I've ever been to so far.
Fantastic experience: I’m going to say it’s better than Taronga. No harbour views. But you’re there for the animals. Great layout, friendly staff and amazing access and views of the animals. Highly recommend.
Positive experience: We had such a great time at Sydney Zoo! One of the first things I noticed was how easy it was to get around – the paths are wide, flat, and super pram-friendly, which made a huge difference with a little one in tow. It’s also really accessible for wheelchairs and perfect for toddlers who just want to run! The viewing platforms were another highlight. There were so many great spots to see the animals clearly, and we never felt like we had to fight for a good view! The only downside for us was the food. The choices were pretty limited and mostly fast food, which was a let down. If you're planning a visit, I’d recommend bringing your own snacks or lunch if you’re after something a bit healthier or more varied. Overall, though, it’s a fantastic zoo – really well laid out and super family-friendly. We’ll definitely be back!
Positive experience: Finally attended the GLOW show for my sons 10th and he had a blast! The ride tickets were a little expensive but short and sweet to attend. Plenty of parking and suitable for young families. Definitely would go again but this time buy more ride tickets!!
Positive experience: Sydney Zoo Glow was absolutely beautiful! The kids had a fantastic time, especially enjoying all the vibrant lights and interactive installations. There were fun rides and slides available, which added to the excitement. While the light displays were amazing, it would be even better if they could include more visible animals or a specific 'fish' exhibit at night for those visiting Glow. Overall, a great family outing with plenty of sparkle.
Fantastic experience: We love this zoo! We are yearly members and go to most events they offer. Such fun for kids to just be able to run , see animals and play. Only wish they also had a playground for kids (as well as the sand play area) but such a good zoo. Been to glow event 3 years in a row… first year was the best and since then it’s became more about money then experiences. But in current times that’s most activities. Wish they offered cheaper and better food options. And this year aquarium wasn’t open at night like previous years. Kids love that area especially at night.
Fantastic experience: Visited on a Saturday with my daughter and had a fantastic time! The zoo is well laid out, staff were friendly, and we even spotted a beautiful white-faced heron. A fun day out for the whole family!
Positive experience: Great price for what you get. Love that they have different special events. My go to places with the little ones when I don't know what to do! The zoo isnt as big as other zoos, and doesn't have as many animals, but its still a great place to go with the kids. They love it every time we go, especially when you pay $15 on top for the yearly pass and you get to attend most of the special events.
Fantastic experience: I was blessed to have the incredible experience at the Sydney Zoo of the reptile encounter. It was fantastic to not only see the animals from the public end but behind the scenes. I was incredibly impressed with the quality of care and condition the animals live in. For snake lovers it is an amazing experience to get hands on with the lovely pythons as well.
Positive experience: The Zoo itself is good especially for prams. But I hope you like lines to get in. Go in the morning on the weekend and there's one person scanning you in. Get to the front be told you're a year member and need a photo! Then have to go right to the end of the queue as you need to be scanned in again.
Fantastic experience: Attended the glow festival with my daughter we both enjoyed it immensely, some animal exhibits were open we will be returning during daylight as this place is amazing
Negative experience: This review is purely for Glow. Don't waste your money. The animals are not out other than snakes that are sleeping (if they do sleep?), and Koala's that are sleeping (as per normal). No other animals are out. I didn't think that it was possible to even put the fish away, but somehow, we were blessed with an empty aquarium. Honestly, if I was a sponsor, I'd want a refund. Very underwhelming. By day it's ok, especially for those that don't want to walk a lot. Reminds me of a glorified family owned zoo. Below is a post of the highlight during Glow (in terms of anything living). Lights are ok, but nothing that you don't see for free at Vivid (in terms of lighting wow). You'll see lit up animal features and boomerangs etc at Sydney Zoo during this glow period.
Negative experience: Attended the GLOW event and while the overall experience was okay, we had a disappointing experience at the Dickies Donuts stall. We ordered filled donuts, but none were filled. When we questioned it, a staff member replied, “If Biscoff is too hot, you won’t see it.” There weren’t even any holes in either my Biscoff or Nutella donut to begin with. The staff member—specifically the heavier-set girl positioned on the right—was incredibly rude, dismissive, and gave major attitude. She then laughed with her co-workers, seemingly at our expense. There was no apology, no resolution—just poor behaviour and awful customer service. Completely unprofessional and definitely not what you’d expect from a vendor at a public event.
Positive experience: I had a delightful Red Panda experience with the 13-year-old female, Tashi. There were three of us booked for a private, 30-minute face-to-face, petting her and feeding sweet potato sticks. Hayden, the panda keeper was a charming guide, making sure we did not upset Tashi with our contact, and providing interesting background on the endangered Red Pandas. It cost $99 - but we had to pay an extra $39 to enter the zoo. I was unimpressed when the reminder for the $140 experience arrived when I was 20 minutes away in my Uber from central Sydney. Lucky I was wearing closed shoes! It is common for theatre ticket sellers to email reminders to patrons in the runup to their booked event - in case they had forgotten the date / time / arrangements, and providing an easy access ticket link. Not common for the zoo however. The day manager said this text was enough because mostly the zoo catered to locals. I am from Melbourne. The other two Panda lovers arrived from London. Not local! Honestly, the zoo was pretty ordinary overall. The zoo's GLOW installations for the Vivid Festival were an inspired idea and would enhance, an otherwise mediocre zoo experience.
Fantastic experience: The Zoo was great, had good flow and great interactions. Could be tough if you don't like hills. But the views of tge Opera house and Bay Bridge from some areas were incredible.
Fantastic experience: Had an incredible experience at Sydney Zoo as an educator with a focus on sustainable development and SDG education. It’s the perfect place for students to learn, explore, and connect with global goals through nature. The variety of animals and birds is amazing, and I was lucky to almost witness a koala giving birth! A fantastic space for hands-on, meaningful learning. They recently have the glow festival on for any visitors to visit zoo at night with their families.
Positive experience: Good range of animals and easy to see most of them. They look well looked after but I hope they get breaks from their enclosures which seem on the small side. Would appreciate a little more information on each of them, especially the aquarium section. There wasn't even the names of all the fish in the aquarium area. Some parts were a little too dark as a parent watching multiple children. There were no keeper talks on that I could see and we visited on a Saturday so I would expect that to be a busy day. Most of the coffee stalls and other food stalls weren't open. The only one open was the one at the back and it was very busy. Some weird false advertising at the Ben and Jerry's stall where they say an icecream cone is $1.50. They forget to mention next to that that the ice cream in the cone is an additional $7.50. Felt like it was all a bit expensive. We were going to visit Glow but couldn't see the value in it with all the added expenses.
Negative experience: I visited the zoo today with my wife and young child, hoping for a joyful and educational family outing. Unfortunately, what we encountered left us deeply saddened. Many of the animals appeared confined in enclosures far too small for their size and natural behavior. It was heartbreaking to see majestic creatures pacing in tight spaces, clearly lacking the freedom they deserve. What should have been an enriching experience turned into a sobering reflection on how disconnected we’ve become from the natural world. Even more upsetting was witnessing staff members throw food — capsicum, in this case — at the monkeys in a careless, almost mocking manner. It felt dehumanizing, as if the animals were mere attractions rather than living beings deserving of respect and care. We paid a significant amount for this visit, and it left us questioning what exactly we were supporting. It’s painful to realize that, by visiting places like this, we may be indirectly contributing to practices that prioritize profit over animal welfare. These animals belong in the wild or, at the very least, in sanctuaries that provide them with space, dignity, and proper care. It’s time we re-evaluate what we define as “entertainment” and consider the ethical impact of our choices.
Fantastic experience: Completely awesome day at Sydney zoo! All animals looked well fed and happy, plenty of parking, well maintained areas and shops, adequate water filling stations and kids were super happy being there. Brought the annual passes and they are totally worth it.! Bluey show was on and it was blast!
Fantastic experience: The kids loved the Glow event at the zoo. It was a bit pricey, but for an after-hours event in this weather, it was a fun evening out with family. I would recommend it; it's running until the end of May.
Fantastic experience: We really enjoyed our time here, you could really see all the thought and care taken when establishing this zoo. There is lots of information about the animals diets and how the zoo works hard to accommodate to each species, making their life in the zoo as healthy as possible. It was great to be able to walk among the kangaroos and emus, and I appreciated the way the animals were still given space to avoid visitors if they felt overwhelmed. We had a wonderful conversation with a lady of aboriginal descent, and it was amazing to hear about her culture and the vastness of aboriginal life. I am so glad we got this opportunity to understand her culture and beliefs as being from the UK we often are given quite a broad and inaccurate representation of their lives. Would highly recommend as a lokey alternative to Taronga, if you are looking for somewhere that isn't as busy.
Fantastic experience: Spending the Night at Sydney Zoo Glow Event year 2025. Nice experience for kids, massive parking space, and good food variety. It is extremely hard to take photos of people as lights are set as a very nice background but no light source to be able to take any photos.
Positive experience: We went for GLOW on Tuesday, the lights were fascinating. The parking was organised and the crowd were controlled by tickets. There’s no available tickets for walk in. We didn’t try the rides although it looks fun. There are also different food stalls ( donuts, burgers, bbq etc..)
Fantastic experience: Giving it 5 stars, we got there at 9am when they fed the animals, it was quiet and peaceful and no kids running about. We stayed for 3 hours and it got busy around 12pm, but not overcrowded. The lions were impressive and they have some great viewing points set up for them. The chimps were putting on a show and the aquarium with the bull sharks were good. Well worth the money & the staff walking around were very informative and friendly. The place had an overall good vibe, and it’s one of the better zoo’s I’ve been to. Also the land is very flat so no one should be getting tired walking about. We’ll be back! Keep up the good work Sydney Zoo and thanks for the experience.
Fantastic experience: Weekend at the zoo with the grandson. Impressed with the scale of the zoo and the variety of animals in wide open secured spaces. Lots of shaded spaces to relax and take a break, and cafes in between each area of the zoo. Staff are friendly and all the animals while enclosed look happy and taken care of.
Positive experience: Buy tickets in advance, its expensive at the gates. Even after the booking fee, it will be cheaper online. No animal shows, so you can visit anytime between 9-5. You have to pay extra for afterhour events. Its muddy on rainy day as the paths are not paved. Two to three hours will be enough for a casual visit.
Fantastic experience: We visited Sydney Zoo as a family of five and had an absolutely amazing time! From the moment we walked in, everything was well-organized, clean, and family-friendly. The layout made it easy to navigate with kids, and there was plenty of space to explore without feeling crowded. The animal enclosures are beautifully designed and allow you to get up close without disturbing the animals. Our children were thrilled to see lions, giraffes, and meerkats so close, and the aquarium and reptile sections were equally impressive. Staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to answer questions, which made the experience even more educational. There were also great facilities for families—ample seating, clean bathrooms, and a variety of food options that even picky eaters enjoyed. This was one of the best family outings we’ve had in a while. Highly recommend Sydney Zoo for a fun, educational, and memorable experience with kids!
Fantastic experience: Went there for the glow really nice for the kids The rides are for bug kids though may be starting 8
Fantastic experience: It was the best day at a zoo. Extremely well presented with different areas representing different countries. Actually, I couldn't fault it. It's well worth a visit
Fantastic experience: Sydney Zoo is the perfect place for kids who love animals. It's much smaller than Taronga Zoo but much easier to navigate and still has plenty of wildlife to show off. No hills, so it's easy for the little ones too. I love how the African Safari section is elevated so you can see all the animals from above, including the giraffes. Not to mention that now that Taronga's elephants have been relocated to another zoo, this is the only zoo in Sydney with Elephants. Plenty to see here and plenty of events that happen throughout the year. Glow is a big event that happens the same time as vivid but also the dinosaur safari and the Christmas event. If you live in the area and have kids, highly recommend buying the annual pass. You only need to visit twice and you've made your money's worth!
Fantastic experience: Great zoo with a special character. Their indoor reptile exhibit is incredible and very large. Admission is very affordable. Well worth a visit for locals and tourists alike
Fantastic experience: Had an amazing night at the opening of Sydney Zoo glow festival. It is simply amazing! The work done by Western Sydney university is beyond incredible. We enjoyed every single part of the night thanks to the amazing team and their hospitality. I am definitely going back soon.
Fantastic experience: Good one for the children on a holiday. Wel maintained and friendly for all ages. Great views all around. My mom loved how she can touch and feed the kangaroo. I recommend atleast once for families visiting Sydney.
Fantastic experience: Zoo is beautiful, stuff are the nicest people you will meet. Annual encounters are great. Great rage of animals. Great experience. Would absolutely recommend.
Positive experience: Nice place to see different animals with family and friends. Little small area for the zoo, didn't see lots of animals.
Fantastic experience: A very fun and cute zoo to go to. The kids absolutely loved the motion activated dinosaurs in the park, along with the kangaroo and emu feeding experience. And the photo opportunity with the koalas was a nice family picture. Lots of Australian native animals here in the zoo and it was so great to see them all. Highly recommend taking kids here to experience.
Fantastic experience: Went with friends from interstate and they absolutely loved it and said they saw animals they have never seen before. Much better than Taronga. You will actually see animals at this zoo.
Positive experience: Really this place was good for nature lovers and animals but tickets a bit higher for children and minerals
Fantastic experience: Decent experience. Only takes under an hour to walk around, needs some more variety like other zoos in Sydney have. Still a good day out if you have curious children. Animal encounter was a lot of fun and something different. Worth the money.
Positive experience: This zoo only contains of endemic animal of australia, quite tiny for a zoo, but its ok, it's clean and simple. Got free photo with koala
Fantastic experience: Great place for kids and families for hours. Currently, a dinosaur theme with interactive sessions hourly from 11 am.
Positive experience: This zoo was pretty good. Only $20 for kids 3-15 and Adult only $45 if you book online. The prices are higher if you buy at the gate. It’s all mainly flat ground so no problem if you have wheelchair or prams. They had a lot of animals, insects and marine life in the aquarium and it was awesome. Also, don’t go to the Dinosaur interactive experience - I thought it like put on a documentary about dinosaurs but actually it’s for 3 year olds the dinosaurs were just people in costumes or a puppet and then they wanted us to dance with the dinosaurs and it was rubbish. The food at the cafeteria thing was pricey and there had been reports of Food Poisoning here. So we went with our guts and didn’t buy or pay for anything here but entry tickets. Probably because we didn’t buy food here is why this is a 4 star review because in General is was good and most of the animals were active but ok. 4/5
Fantastic experience: I visited Sydney Zoo recently and really enjoyed it. The place was clean and easy to walk around. I liked how close we could get to the animals, especially the lions and giraffes. The staff were friendly and helpful. It’s a good place for families, and there’s a lot for kids to see and do. Some of the food was a bit expensive, but that’s normal for places like this. Overall, I had a great time and would recommend Sydney Zoo to others.
Fantastic experience: Went to the zoo with Diamond tours. Treated like First Class - fed kangaroos. We saw koalas, capybara and other fish we haven’t seen in the other zoos in the world ❤️❤️❤️ must see if you’re in Sydney
Fantastic experience: The opportunity to interact & feed Koalas and various types of Kangaroos is lovely. I loved interacting with the Alligator turtle which followed the mobile light and was swimming in that direction within its enclosure. It was so cute The animals are placed in areas named after continents, signifying their origins. I was excited to see Capybaras and Meerkats.
