🗣️ Bolsena Aquarium: Reviews
Negative experience: Really sad place. The aquarium was dirty and the animals fid not seem well cared for. The museum was ok, but far better Etruscan museums can be found in chiusi, orvieto, and arezzo. Edit to add, that despite having a wheelchair lift to go up and down the stairs, the lady at the ticket counter told us they did not have one, and acted irritated to open the door wide enough to allow our wheelchair access.
Negative experience: Do not pay (not worth it) to got to this aquarium, if your going to the museum then it’s fine because you don’t pay extra. The aquariums are in terrible state and lak cleaning. I would even say some kind of animal control organisation should come and check on it.
Dear Alexander, I am very sorry that our idea of fish welfare is not what you expected. Our animals hbeen in the aquarium for more than 10 years in perfectly reconstructed natural environments. The rivers and lakes of central Italy in fact are often dark, with murky waters and rich in algae. In addition, the health of all our fish is constantly monitored and the chemical-physical parameters of the water monitored weekly. I would be happy if you could come back to explain how the conditions of our aquarium are very similar to natural environments and how our guests live well enough to grow and reproduce, see you soon. The Director.
Negative experience: I understand the philosophy of natural surrounding (darkness, leaving the plants as they are...). But nontheless the tanks are definitely much too small! Who would like to live like this - as a fish, I mean ; )? For me it's a most depressing place! Have empathy and mercy with the creatures you work with!
Fantastic experience: Yes it's history and it takes you back and just wonder
Positive experience: Good place as a short stop before going to the lake Bolsena. Quite tiny acquarium but it is part of a castle which makes it unique and interesting. My kids loved the place.
Fantastic experience: It is definitely small but it has so much great aesthetic to the building, and for it's size, it can make itself feel really immersed in the history and aquatic wildlife. I'd recommend it and would visit again.
Fantastic experience: For being a small aquarium is actually very well made and educative! Everything is well explained in Italian and English, and it guides you through the course of a river with all the different habits and fishes.
