🗣️ Tobermory Harbour Association: Reviews
Negative experience: This is a good stop totally spoilt by their showers. They are tiny and gave no floorboards or squeegee to get rid of water. The gents has one out of action and one with no door. They need £2 to operate which gives you 7 minutes. But the real horror is the mould above the shower stalls from lack of ventilation. I know it’s difficult to do everything well in a remote area but getting the ventilation right isn’t difficult. And having half your showers out of order in the busy summer months is unacceptable. Back for a second time. Toilets and showers are still diabolical. Only one men’s urinal operational. Shower stalls are cramped. Water is hot but for £2 I think more space, lighting that works , and better cleaned showers is required. The loo stalls typically run out of toilet paper despite having two dispensers. As one of the e more expensive marinas in the area this is not good enough.
Fantastic experience: I am easy going, but this place is clean, shower are warm and clean.
Fantastic experience: Great facilities, and the staff are helpful what a beautiful island
Fantastic experience: Nice clean free public toilets and showers within the building. Donation of 20p requested but not mandatory. Next to a large free car park which is the best car park for photos of the sea front buildings.
Fantastic experience: Loved it , after a very long drive a hot shower was in order. Very clean and very hot.
Fantastic experience: the facilities here are fabulous showers ect
Fantastic experience: Good tourist shop, spotlessly clean rest rooms and laundry facilities.
Fantastic experience: Well presented marina right at the heart of the on-shore attractions. Great to see the marina so well used by a diversity of boats.
Fantastic experience: Quaint, colorful harbor and town. Lots of shops and places to eat. Even whiskey distillery.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful, remind yourself of 'Ballamory'!
Positive experience: We were on the pontoon for a short visit. One lacking element was information about the town, walks, places to visit, etc and one of the signs was out of date
Fantastic experience: Fantastic facilities and really friendly. Just don't forget two pound coins for the shower which lasts 7 minutes. Also a donation is highly recommend
Fantastic experience: A great view up the coast. watch out for the parking charges
Negative experience: Pontoons are great but that’s where it ends, I haven’t queued up with so many people for so few toilets since boarding school. Facilities are public toilets during the day and vastly overused to the point of a health hazard during the morning rush. It appears a place this popular doesn’t really need to make an effort to look after paying guests
Positive experience: We got tickets on line but unfortunately there was no direct information about what time the buses ran back to catch the ferry to olan
Fantastic experience: Very good facilities. The showers could be hotter, but I think they were getting used a lot! You need £1 coins to operate the showers. We also got fuel for the boat, hard to spot the correct pontoon, could do with some signage. All in all excellent mooring facilities.
Fantastic experience: Tobermory is a very picturesque place with it's coloured houses and a working distillery with a tour available but book early.
Positive experience: The compressor was not available for filling my cylinder because they rented it out for a week to another dive group. Previously I have been able to obtain fills on demand during the day. I missed my second dive. I will not rely on the facility in future.
Fantastic experience: Very informative and interesting
Fantastic experience: Called in here to use the loo while visiting with our van and everything you need is there laundry and showers and all very cheap . Spotlessly clean and filled with information to
Fantastic experience: Loved the harbour area, very good pub near by with venison burgers and Belhaven beer. Fantastic cruise out into the Sound of Mull.
Fantastic experience: Lovely harbour with great facilities.
Fantastic experience: Its a great place to spend the day, very friendly place nice food and drinks.
Fantastic experience: Great place to spend the night Subject to wind direction!
Fantastic experience: Always a real pleasure to visit Tobermory. Harbour staff always very welcoming and helpful. Lindsay from Reivers Moon.
Fantastic experience: Seemed to be the only place to do laundry while traveling on Mull.
Fantastic experience: Spectacular place, especially in good weather, ie sun shining, virtually no wind blowing. Walked from the ferry to the harbour, very pleasant experience.
Fantastic experience: Best showers and facilities.
Positive experience: Nice marina with good facilities (toilet, shower, laundry). Showers are 2£ and toilets could have used more cleaning at our visit. All the point above are probably caused due to the fact that facilities are in the same building with the aquarium.
Fantastic experience: Great facilities, make sure you get the codes for the facilities. Lots on hand in Tobers to either enjoy or stock up on. We like the moorings at the far end, nice and quiet and if the weather is bad, more sheltered.
Fantastic experience: Helpful team and well equipped washrooms. Easy walk into the main street and we did a nice walk out to the lighthouse
Positive experience: We were there on market day and bought some plants. It was fine but wouldn't make a special journey.
Fantastic experience: Modern facilities at the Yacht marina
Fantastic experience: Great harbour , new fuel dock, water and electric. Good protection from all except NE Toilets good but showers need maintenance £2 for 7 mins. Good shops and food at several eating places.
Fantastic experience: It was 6 years since my last visit and the facilities have got even better. Plenty of berths for visiting yachts. I was there in September and reserving a berth was possible. Stable and slip free pontoons. Very helpful and friendly staff. Fantastic shore facilities. Very nice showers & loos, as well as washing machines and dryers. An excellent choice of shops, etc in Tobermory, which is a gentle walk away. A lovely sheltered spot that is well worth the visit.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic pontoons in the most amazing town with the best bars and restaurants, water and electric, showers in a dedicated building with washing machines etc - you’ll need 2 pound coins to operate the showers
Fantastic experience: What a godsend - after under-packing for our holiday of a lifetime in Scotland, the launderette here LITERALLY came to our rescue. Staff provided washing tabs.
Fantastic experience: Great facilities, Post box was situated along the harbour just before the ferry
Positive experience: Good pontoons but no security. Facilities slightly lacking and used by the general public as well. Also the first time I have had to pay for a shower on my trip up the west coast although power is included in the berth fee so it evens out if you make use of that (I don't!)
Positive experience: The pontoons were busy when we visited on Tuesday 14th July. It was disappointing to find with only one hose on use the water pressure was very poor and took 1 1/2 hours to fill one tank 340 litre. As usual the WiFi signal is not great and could do with upgrading.
Positive experience: Local harbour with several shops some tourist others normal very pleasant have been before
Fantastic experience: Excellent facilities, WiFi that works, pontoons handy for the town. Highly recommended.
Fantastic experience: visited this town for obvious reasons... we were not dissapointed. found it easy to park our camper
Positive experience: Excellent facilities for £2.8 per metre for the night.
Hi Sandy, very sorry your experience wasn't 5 star quality. May we enquire as to what went wrong and how we may improve on it?
Fantastic experience: I kayak to Tob from Drimnin on the Morvern peninsula - the harbour is where we come ashore. Fish and chips and beer and then paddle back. The picture is Tobermory taken from Drimnin Estate.
Positive experience: Nice place but we got there everything was closed except the souvenir shops
Fantastic experience: You have to pay for the loos and showers but well worth it as they are clean
Negative experience: You have to pay for the toilet!
Fantastic experience: Tobermorry is beautiful as always. Very sorry to see Restaurant after the fire.
Fantastic experience: Parking at Tobermory Harbour is free but please don't abuse that. Great place to explore the harbour shops from. Some great places to eat and also the aquarium centre, a kind of mini sealife centre.
Fantastic experience: Love going to mull could live there
Fantastic experience: Such scenic place looking over the firth
Positive experience: Good and clean but you have to pay £2 for a 7 minute shower.
Fantastic experience: The showers cost £2 but theybwere top class
Positive experience: Absolutely beautiful setting with adequate mooring & pontoon facilities. There seems however, to be a lack of consideration by some motor vessels & dinghies entering & leaving the marina of the disruptive affect of wash on boats moored close to or in the marina. Perhaps speed limit restrictions should be put in place & enforced. 50% of Mens shower facilities were out of order on day 1 but repaired the following day...Staff pleasant & helpful.
Fantastic experience: What's the story ❓ Well it's like this Tobermory is truly one of the most colourful places on planet earth ; Day and night 'n' if pictures paint a thousand words :. WELL ‼️ Will have to interrupt this story 'furranoo' '! back again soon , wi' mer wurdz ahn pickchurrs. "mer pickchurrs first, ah cannae be borrerrt talkin ? So back tae mah pure broad scoats ! "Merra ae wee phoataes gettin sent?" Aw wit ! Ah sent sum ay them phoataes upsides doon so I've sent them the noo the right way roon ? as i was saying about how colourful the place is, aye , even the water has it's own rainbow's ? Slick AYE WIT ⁉️
Positive experience: Great little marina, friendly & helpful staff with good facilities even if showers cost extra on top of mooring fees. We spent 3 nights here due to very windy weather, in what is a quaint village with all the facilities cruising yachties need. Only downside for us was the inconsiderate & ignorant ‘professional’ boat people (fishermen & tour transfer boats), often entering the marina pontoons creating wake instead of slowing down before they approached the moored boats! I appreciate they are working, but a minute or two delay shouldn’t make that much difference to them!
Fantastic experience: Wonderful harbor with access to excellent stores and walking trails. Many outfits hire wildlife tours. I recommend a walk to the lighthouse 2 km from the harbor to the right. On the way back you can take a trail on the golf course.
Fantastic experience: The famous Tobermory cat!
Fantastic experience: I loved seeing the different colours, but I was a bit disappointed when a shop keeper told me that Josie Jumps pink castle was filmed in Edinburgh and added later, I used to watch Balamory with my grandchildren and my granddaughter wanted a picture of it, now I've got to go a d explain why I couldn't get a picture for her, I was also told that the buildings had been painted different colours as well over the years.
Positive experience: Tobermory Harbour association have got it sorted for visiting boats. Moorings are cheap at £17 a night for a 11 metre yacht. Pontoon places are available too but this place gets very full later in the day with visiting yachts coming in after a day sail. Fuel from the local garage and shops nearby. WiFi promised to moorings but very sparodic.
Thank you for your review Tamsin. The WIFI should work on the moorings, let us know if there is a problem next time you are in, as it we can get the signal adjusted if there is a problem in a specific area.
Fantastic experience: Tobermory is an amazing place as is Mull a very special island with first class ferry service Scotland at its best when the sun comes out.
Positive experience: Nice little harbour on mull just of oban.good ferry ride and service.small single track roads around most of the island
Fantastic experience: Great fish and chips & scallops there at The Fisherman's Pier, very fresh!
Fantastic experience: This has great facilities for visiting yachts, the showers are especially welcome. It is always pleasant to visit colourful Tobermoray
Fantastic experience: From a yachtie's perspective..first class! Great well marked and serviced moorings. Excellent information and facilities ashore...and friendly.
Fantastic experience: Lovely harbour. Nice shops and helpful staff. Excellent visit.
Fantastic experience: Well-managed facilities, run by enthusiastic and friendly team and Harbour Master.
Fantastic experience: One of the best Scottish villages you ever see
Fantastic experience: Quaint Village. Local people are very friendly. Lovely individual shops. Harbour area has seating areas and picnic tables. The young people who operate Wildlife Tours from a boat are a joy and very informative. I have fallen in love with Tobermory.
Fantastic experience: Brilliant laundry facilities and showers
Fantastic experience: All staff very helpful and cheerful
Positive experience: It was a good clean place loads of facilities
Fantastic experience: Fantastic facilities available both afloat and ashore.
Fantastic experience: One of the most beautiful settings in Scotland
Fantastic experience: fun place and lots of little shops to visit
Positive experience: A great place to be, lovely walks, fantastic views from the golf course, good facilities at the Marina. Wonderful local produce from the local store and fresh coffee too! Good pubs and food.
Positive experience: Beautiful area if the country
Fantastic experience: 1st visit for 15 years, still a very pleasant place to moor even if it is a bit over touristy now.
Positive experience: Good shower facilities for yachties
Positive experience: It has to be done, if you're a parent, but oddly enough, I did it without my children and I sailed in. I was still excited! The harbour facilities are great for a sailing stop and Tobermory has everything you need to re-stock your boat and re-charge your own batteries. It's even got a chandlery
Negative experience: Open but not producing whiskey a little disappointed not the usual smells and noises it would have been nice to have been told
Negative experience: Big waste of time and money
Fantastic experience: Very pretty place to stop with an couple of good restaurants nearby - I would recommend MishFish. Abollutions close by but have to pay £2 to use them. We paid £36 a bearth- for a 43 ft yacht. Pontoon on the smaller side for a vessel of this size. Would highly recommend visiting
Negative experience: Came in to the pontoons looking to see if we could get a berth or raft up on Wednesday 1st Aug and we were Totally ignored by the Harbour Master. Hung about for half an hour as he passed back & forth without so much as a hello. As if we were invisible. Final straw was another two yachts came in & he asked them to follow him & he'd try to find them a "spare" mooring! At that point.... we left!! Couple of phone calls and got moored up right in front of the Mishnish pub where we were heading to see the Mad Ferret Band. Perfect! I would normally rate the harbour well..... but feel this was terrible treatment to someone who has been using the facilities for two decades!
Findlay, sorry that you feel your visit wasn't up to the normal standard. Wednesday 1st of August is right in the middle of West Highland Yachting Week, which is the most demanding week on our calendar hosting 100+ vessels. Looking up the rota I believe it to have been a Marine Assistant out in the boat, not the Harbour Master. They rely on your intentions being made clear on your approach towards the marina and were not aware that you were waiting to be directed towards a berth. Being a Community Harbour we care about our visitors experiences and value your feedback.
Positive experience: Picturesque and friendly gateway to Island of Mull. Great facilities in harbour and excellent tourist information office. Wide range of shops, restaurants, cafes and pubs.
Fantastic experience: Good helpful staff. Clean shore facilities. Plenty of deep moorings in shelter. Pontoons can be busy. Good fuel/ water point.
Fantastic experience: What a great place to visit On the island of Mull but worth ferry trip from Oban
Fantastic experience: Harbour shower facility's are well kept and spotless clean.
Positive experience: Tobermory is a very picturesque place. Multi coloured houses circle the harbour..at one end is a marina for yachts and small boats..this leads to a large car/ bus/coach park..showers, toilets and aquarium, coffee/ beer, post office, whisky distillery..as you follow the path alongside the harbour there are shops, cafes, Chinese/ indian/seafood/gourmet eating places, pubs. Outdoor fish and chip shop and a co-op..At the other end if the harbour is the ferry terminal.. And a walk that takes you to the local lighthouse..only reason I haven't given this wonderful place 5 stars is there were no toilets at this end of the harbour. But you can have nice coffee and food in the Pier cafe where there are toilets for customers..Mull is a great place to visit.
Fantastic experience: Nice marines in a nice town
Fantastic experience: Stunning village. Great views and good starting point for exploring the Isle of Mull.
Fantastic experience: Great marina, modern and clean toilets and laundry facilities not to mention the aquarium.
Fantastic experience: Staff very helpful, pontoon rates very reasonable
Fantastic experience: Great facility on an idyllic location.
Fantastic experience: Brilliant place to visit lots of walking and visiting the castle on top of the hill. You gave to be good at walking up steep hills to get the best view
Fantastic experience: Thanks for allowing me to fuel up at the end of the day... Your kindness meant I was able to make good use of my weather slot to sail directly to Barra the following morning....
Positive experience: What can i say its a pontoon. Slightly disorganised at times. But has all the amenities you need
Positive experience: Really good location, fair pricing, and WiFi included (although leaving something to be desired in speed)
Fantastic experience: Nice new and clean facilities with showers. Ideal if you are camping in Mull and need a freshen up!
