🗣️ The Deep: Reviews
Fantastic experience: What a marvelous place the different species on show is a wonder the staff are at hand to give polite assistance if required.. however on a personal note my wife and I felt a sadness in the penguin area ... Just a feeling.,. having said that we loved our visit and will be back to enjoy the very generous annual pass
Fantastic experience: Great place to visit, good price when you get to visit for the rest of the year for free.
Fantastic experience: Today we attended a home ed event at The Deep, very informative and interactive, the children and the adults were engaged throughout, the session we were in explained the dangers of plastics in our oceans and how easily it travels through the food chain. The ticket even included a visit into the attraction itself, very much worth the money and would definitely attend one of these events again.
This is lovely to hear, thanks so much for your feedback! Hope to 'sea' you at the next event!
Fantastic experience: Wonderful experience. I have a neuro divergent child and he loved the visual displays as well as the aquariums.
Fantastic experience: I had an amazing experience at the Deep aquarium! Clown fish, penguins, and sharks .The underwater world is indeed breathtakingly beautiful. You better make time to visit to .
Great to hear! We hope to 'sea' you again soon.
Fantastic experience: We had a great experience at The Deep. Although it was quite busy when we arrived, the staff were efficient and friendly, quickly managing the queues and making everyone feel welcome. What stood out most was how passionate the staff seemed — whether it was on reception, guiding visitors through exhibits, or in the café and shop — they clearly care about the work they do and the animals they look after. The aquarium itself is absolutely stunning. From the moment you step inside, the atmosphere pulls you in — immersive, educational, and visually breathtaking. The range of sea life is incredible, with engaging displays and plenty of interactive elements to keep both kids and adults interested. My son was completely mesmerised the entire time. The facilities were spotless, and the gift shop was well stocked with a wide range of souvenirs — reasonably priced too, which was a pleasant surprise. We’ll definitely be visiting again, especially now it’s the school holidays. Highly recommended for families, couples, or anyone with an interest in marine life. The Deep is more than just an aquarium — it’s an inspiring place that leaves a lasting impression.
Fantastic experience: At first glance, this seems like an expensive day out with Adult tickets ÂŁ23 each & kids (3+) ÂŁ17 each BUT bear in mind that you pay that & can then return as many times as you like for 12 months, making it a bargain. When you get inside, there's something for everyone with loads to look at, regular educational talks and interactive exhibits for the kids so you can sneak in some learning even in the school holidays!! The one thing that does let it down is that you do have to pay for parking each time you visit. I think if they gave you the first visit's parking as part of the ticket, that may help but there's another cost to bear in mind.
'Tanks' for the wonderful review, Carl! We look forward to 'sea'ing you again soon.
Positive experience: Really like it at the Deep, my granddaughter loves it. Thing I can't work out is on entry you take a lift to 3rd floor and work your way back down to ground level, you then have to queue up for the lift or do stairs back up to 3rd floor and then queue up to get a lift back down to ground floor. Why not open emergency exit doors and let people out
Hi Alan, thank you for your feedback. We do have the option to allow visitors to use the fire exit instead of taking the bubble lift or scenic stairs back up to our 3rd floor. We hope to 'sea' you again soon for another visit with your Annual Pass.
Fantastic experience: We visited on Saturday for my daughter's first birthday. We'd booked the penguin birthday sign but it hadn't been put in. We spoke to a member of staff called Becky who went above and beyond to sort it for us. She got the sign put in really quickly, was fantastic with our daughter, and offered to take photos of the three of us with the sign. Becky and her manager Lindsey genuinely made our visit 10x better and provided such good customer service! 100% will be visiting again after this experience!
Hi Ellie, thank you so much for your kind words, we will ensure these are passed onto our Crew who will be over the moon! We look forward to 'sea'ing you again soon!
Fantastic experience: Love this place, ÂŁ23 gets an adult In for a YEAR. My grandkids love the place. Informative and fun. Profits go to support research. If I lived nearer I'd spend everyday of the winter in the warm areas. At ÂŁ19.50 for a pensioner for a year it's cheaper than heating my home and the power company could go whistle.
Thank you for the great feedback Alistair!
Fantastic experience: Thete was some brilliant sea life there Sharks stong rays puffer fish even salt water perch i even saw a seahorse with out a jockey
Love it! 'Tanks' Ronnie.
Fantastic experience: Great place to visit, with or without kids! The displays were amazing, and the staff were great.
That's great to hear, 'sea' you again soon!
Positive experience: Well it was okay it’s more for children I took my two younger girls they loved it good points the sharks and the sting rays nice little cafe area for food and drinks worth the visit for the day out in hull also
Thank you for your visit, it is great to hear that your girls enjoyed their visit. We hope to 'sea' you again soon! :-)
Fantastic experience: Absolutely amazing sealife just in complete awe of all the animals and some other exotic animals that you have. Paying for a ticket gets you 12 months' worth of visits for such a small price. It is definitely worth it in my opinion you will not be disappointed.
Thanks for your feedback Bert! We hope you can 'bob' in again soon!
Fantastic experience: Super aquarium. Particularly like the coral reef tank. Well worth a visit for all age groups and abilities.
'Tanks' a lot Darryl!
Fantastic experience: Very nice aquarium with many many aquatic life and huge enclosures. Very informative signs, huge place to explore. Lots for children to do. 100000% would go again.
Thank you for your review Bobby C, we hope to 'sea' you again soon!
Positive experience: Nice place but way overpriced. Did asked question here before why is so pricey but people highly recommend it. Well, it’s nice but expect to have some “touch” experience for kids- nothing available, lots too read but it simply 1 big aquarium with walk around it. Was glad to see penguins, and as they have some eggs assumed that they are happy there. Kids 13,11 and 7 months like it, but won’t visit again. Wanted to see how they feed sharks or anything existing but seen just few talks.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review Oksana. We hope you can make use of your annual pass that allows unlimited free returns for 12 months from the date of your first visit. We hope on you can sea our aquarists feeding the animals on your next visit.
Negative experience: We were very disappointed with our visit to the Deep yesterday. I have been wanting to go since it opened and people have recommended it. We have visited several other Aquariums both in the UK and abroad and they seem far better with the whole experience. I do not think the main tank was shown off to its best and what we saw was a bit hazy in parts. The glass tunnel was extremely short and frankly not worth it. It just did not seem to have the wow factor I was expecting. Not value for money as I do not live in Hull so probably will not be going back this year.
Thank you for your review Judith and we are disappointed to hear that you did not enjoy your visit after the recommendations you received. The cost of our passes include unlimited entry for 12 months and includes entry to several special events that we hold throughout the year. As a non-profit charity, our income received through ticket sales, shop, café and other departments are put back into the improving the visitor experience at The Deep and into vital research and conservation schemes around the world.
Fantastic experience: This is even better than my initial visit about 7 years ago. The place has had a complete revamp with more interactivity and insights into the marine world beneath us. From the perk of gaining an annual pass with the purchase of your ticket to the lush food and very helpful staff, every aspect of my latest visit was nothing but enjoyable....loved it and can't wait to go again. I also had my three year old grandson requiring frequent toilet breaks, which wasn't an issue. The lovely staff were at hand to help us navigate to the nearest restroom. Even when some lifts were out of service, we were guided to toilets via staff exits. With free cold and hot water provided for my bottle feeding newbirn grand baby, the day couldn't have run better. Five stars all round.
This is fantastic! Thank you for taking the time to leave such a lovely review. We are delighted that you were able to see the changes and the focus on education and conservation within the aquarium. We are also happy to hear that The Deep Crew were supportive throughout your visit. We hope to 'sea' you again soon!
Positive experience: Really good day out with lots of marine life to enjoy. Lots of variety and informative talks from the staff. The only downside is if you have a pram/wheelchair, you have to wait in a queue at the end for one lift. It is a scenic lift that takes you up past the fish and other animals, but it is a long wait
Thank you for your lovely review, we are delighted to hear you enjoyed your visit and the presentations by our guiding team. Unfortunately there is little we can do about the queue for our scenic lift, it is a popular experience. We hope to 'sea' you again soon!
Positive experience: Perfect day out although it can be frustrating moving slowly around as it can get quite busy!
Thank you for the lovely feedback. Our quieter times are during term time and generally after 2:30/3pm most days. We hope to 'sea' you again soon!
Fantastic experience: Great day out for the whole family. What makes it even better is that your ticket allows you entry for the whole year so you can keep going back and just pay for parking. Staff are very friendly, and were more than willing to answer the endless questions my kids had about the different species. Really good interactions and some amazing things to see. Standouts for us were sharks, jellyfish, turtle, the rays, and of course the penguins and ice walls.
Thanks Mick!
Negative experience: The actual tanks and exhibits are good, but it has outgrown itself. There were too many people to get near most things. Pathways are not wide enough, leading to lots of bottlenecks. Service in the snack cafe left a lot to be desired. You get free entry for 12 months when you buy a ticket. I won't be rushing back.
Sorry to hear you did not fully enjoy your recent visit Craig. We can become extremely busy especially on weekends and school holidays and recommend that those wanting a quieter experience to visit at 10am or after 2.30pm. We hope you will take advantage of your annual pass and visit again at a quieter time.
Positive experience: Really good. My 14 year old daughter enjoyed it tremendously as it brought to light many of the studies she's done, and being a National Geographic fan it brought into perspective many of the stories of prehistoric fossils she's read. The staff were courteous and quite helpful. And the best part is I am told the proceeds all go to charity. So you get to have a swell time while helping a noble cause. Was a good experience and I'd urge anyone who ever visits Hull to make it a matter of priority to go to the Deep.
Great to hear you and your daughter enjoyed your visit Ugonna!
Fantastic experience: It can get a bit crowded on busy days but all in all its a good day out. There are plenty of toilets dotted along the route as well as places to sit and lots to see. Good for adults and kids. I just wish the tunnel was a bit longer but its still really good.
'Bob' back soon Holly!
Positive experience: Really good mix of animals. All types of tickets are annual passes by default so the trip did come out to be a bit expensive, given that we don’t live in Hull. But an option to donate a portion of the ticket price to conservation! Went on the kids’ half term and we really enjoyed the trip and easily spent 2-3 hours there :)
Thanks for the great feedback! We do hope to 'sea' you again soon!
Fantastic experience: One of my favourite places! I love an aquarium, but this place is something else! I love how interactive it all is, making it so accessible for kids to really get in to it. We easily spend 3 hours roaming round and enjoying it all. If you enjoy and aquarium you have to visit this place!
Thank you for your lovely feedback Amy!
Fantastic experience: We had such a good time at The Deep. So much to see. So many great exhibits. The penguins and the sting rays were my favorite.
'Tanks' for your lovely comments Helen!
Fantastic experience: Easy to find parking locally. No parent and child parking available but there are car parks close by with more space. You can pay by card at the deep car park and there are car parks that accept cash and card close by. If you decide not to eat at the deep there’s plenty of places close by to eat. Some lovely shops close by too And a really nice walk along the water front. A very child friendly day out, there’s a lot of events planned around the city for children over the summer too. We visited this week when the coastguards and lifeguards were there and they were great to interact with, and really made the trip out more fun!
Thank you for your review Jessica. We hope you can make use of your annual pass and visit us for free again soon!
Positive experience: Fantastic place excellent viewing of sea life very interactive for kids and plenty of parking. Took ages to get the one lift to exit though as everyone has buggies so that could do with improving as constructive feedback
Great to 'sea' you Jennifer, and thank you for the feedback!
Fantastic experience: Great day out for the family. Really educational and fun for the kids (and the adults). Well worth the visit. Little one loved the Jellyfish!
'Tanks' so much for visiting, and hope to 'sea' you again soon!
Positive experience: The Deep is a great place to visit in Hull, it has a wide variety of sea life with clear and well kept enclosures, lots of facilities such as toilets and a cafe, and good customer service. An annual pass is available after purchasing your ticket. Online booking is also available. The queue can vary, sometimes it can be very long and you can take a while to get served, whilst other times it can be fairly short and you get served quite quickly.
'Tanks' for the feedback, Isaac!
Fantastic experience: A Fantastic Day Out at The Deep – Fun for All Ages! We visited The Deep in Hull with both our family and close friends, and it was an absolutely brilliant day out! From the moment we arrived, the staff were welcoming and helpful, and the whole place was really well-organised. The aquarium itself is stunning – the huge tanks filled with sharks, rays, turtles, and colorful fish kept the kids (and adults!) entertained. The glass tunnel and the scenic glass lift through the tank were definite highlights. There were lots of interactive displays and activities that kept the children entertained while also being educational. We all learned something new! We also really appreciated how clean and accessible everything was, with plenty of spots to sit, grab a snack, or just enjoy the views over the Humber. The Deep is perfect for a fun, family-friendly day out, and we’d highly recommend it to anyone visiting Hull. We’ll definitely be back again soon – it’s a real gem! Also the entry tickets, when registered at the point of sale can be used again for free entry as many time as you like for a year! Which is an absolute bargain!
'Tanks' for the fin-tastic feedback, Chloe! We do hope to 'sea' you again soon!
Fantastic experience: Really enjoyed our time and great that you can visit as many times as you want within the year!
'Sea' you again soon, Laura!
Fantastic experience: So when we turned up, my wife's mobility frame wasn't working, and they called the maintenance guy down. I think his name was Richard. He did everything to try to fix it for her, really helpful. Then, onto the experience and WOW fantastic place, don't hesitate to visit. They have everything there , well worth the money, it was a great afternoon out. Staff all friendly :). Highly recommend....we will be back
Happy to help! We hope to 'sea' you again soon!
Fantastic experience: An amazing place probably the best aquarium I've been to within the UK and I have visited a few different ones now great educational Information and the exhibition is excellent would definitely visit again and you get a pass for 12 months
Hi Mick Thank you so much for your lovely feedback, we hope to 'sea' you again soon!
Fantastic experience: Had a great trip here a while back with my grandchildren. Lots to see and do. If tickets seem expensive, remember you can use them all year. You can also tick off another rat from the new Mischief of Rats trail. My wife, Carol, painted the one outside.
Thank you for your feedback Mike! We hope to 'sea' you again soon. We love the artwork on the rat ❤️
Positive experience: A couple of the interactive exhibits were not working during our visit, but generally, it was a really enjoyable experience. I loved the sharks in the main tank and the jellyfish exhibit, it was fun watching the penguins swimming too. The cafe was convenient and their coffee is nice but there were a lot of tables that hadn't been cleared and were dirty, I wasn't expecting to see that.
Hi Lester, thank you for your feedback, this has been passed on to the relevant departments. We hope to 'sea' you again soon!
Fantastic experience: Brilliant day out. For me the highlight was the mesmerising jellyfish tank (with subtle ambient music, which works beautifully). So relaxing and beautiful. But all the tanks are fascinating with some stunning occupants. Good for all ages (I’m 68 but families and small children seemed to be having a great time). Highly recommended.
It was great to 'sea' you, thanks for the kind feedback!
Fantastic experience: 9/10 - TLDR: Great value. Short but a good couple hours entertainment. Kids food reasonable, cheap parking. The deep is a fantastic few hours out. It doesn't take long to get round with small children who like to see and move on quickly but their main tank attraction have some of the largest swordfish/sharks I've ever seen up close. The value really comes in the 1 year free returns and under 3s going free. Its only roughly ÂŁ20 per adult for this and if you live local enough it would be a staple of any child's childhood if they love the marine life. Nice selection of hot and cold food and they do kids meal deals whereby you can pick 5 individual items including half sandwiches, drinks, cakes, treats Only down side is the single lift at the end. Waiting a long time for all the wheelchairs and pushchairs who have to use it. We have a double stroller so we're unable to just fit in with others. This did take about 25 minutes added to the end of the visit. All in all we are impressed!
'Tanks' for the brilliant review, Bradley! We hope we can welcome you back for a free visit on your Annual Pass soon.
Fantastic experience: We visit The Deep twice a year; it’s well worth the couple of hours of travel. When you buy a ticket you can revisit as often as you like. I’ve taken children aged five and above, and also groups of adults. There is always more to see and learn. Highly recommend the trip.
Thanks Zoe!
Fantastic experience: Well worth the entrance fee. Lifts to each level, including one that goes through the main aquarium. You can see how much happens behind the scenes as they let you look at the pipe work and heating. Parking was ÂŁ3.75, (or something similar) for up to 5 hours. We took an hour to go through, but you could stretch it to two hours if you took your time and stopped in at the cafe.
Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review Missy B. We hope you can visit us again soon using your annual pass!
Fantastic experience: We bring our daughter every week with our 12-month free pass and we all enjoy our visits. We enjoy listening to the talks and staff are always on hand to answer any questions we have about fish
Thanks Lisa, it's lovely to hear you are making good use of your annual pass! We'll 'sea' you again soon!
Positive experience: Quiet and some nice tanks, but very overpriced for what they have. Penguin enclosure is small.
Thanks for your feedback Gemma. Our ticket does include unlimited free returns for 12 months. Our penguins are all captive bred Gentoo Penguins and their purpose built habitat is designed to replicate a penguin colony on South Georgia. Penguins are naturally colonial animals and our exhibit could potentially house many more birds happily, although we choose not to. Their display has many natural enrichment features inbuilt giving the penguins choices over how to use their space. This includes a water stream, water sprinklers, pebble beaches to allow natural nest building, a highly textured floor which is great for our penguins foot health, an ice machine, lots of different areas with varying light levels and a split level tank, which extends some distance under the floor from the viewing windows, and has a much deeper diving area. I hope this has helped you to feel that our penguins receive the best possible care, are happy and healthy within their exhibit.
Fantastic experience: Really enjoyed our visit, brought our 1 year old who loved all the colours and different bits - highly recommend
We hope to 'sea' you again soon Dan!
Positive experience: A truly excellent place with lots to see. The huge tanks are exceptional and the kids loved it. Gave four stars because you spend hours learning about the impacts of plastic in the ocean and then go into a gift shop filled with plastic.
Great to hear you enjoyed your visit James! We are aware that our gift shop does sell plastic items, this is something we are always working to reduce and eventually eradicate but this is proving to be a slow process. All items are ethically sourced and produced where possible, and our Retail Manager is continuously on the lookout for new suppliers we can work with that will help better embody our ethos.
Fantastic experience: Really brilliant experience. There's a queue at the end for the lift that goes up through the ocean display, BUT if you take the stairs instead, each level has a viewing platform allowing you to see the full display at your own pace.
'Tanks' for visiting, Dianne!
Fantastic experience: Fantastic. So much better than a sea life centre. It was ÂŁ99 for 2 adults, 2 kids, and a senior. We spent over 4 hours there. Very helpful with my ASC child, great sensory borrow bag. And we can return for 12 months at no more cost. Brilliant
Great to hear you enjoyed your visit Sian! 'Bob' back soon!
Fantastic experience: Great place to visit with the family!
'Tanks' Sheperd!
Fantastic experience: Fun for all that go. And you get to go all year for the price of one ticket
'Bob' back soon Rebecca!
Fantastic experience: We had a great day out here with our daughter (4). I particularly enjoyed seeing the behind the scenes areas too and seeing how it all works. Brought it to life a bit more. It was good to see that all the fish and tanks looked really well cared for too - a stark contrast to all of the Sea Life's I've visited in the UK.
Thank you for your review Steve! We hope to 'sea' you and your daughter again soon!
Fantastic experience: Not a bad place. Have to go a few times in year to.make it worth the initial cost
Thank you for your feedback Kevin.
Fantastic experience: Was a lovely day out SEN friendly we were holidaying nearby I asked for a sen pack as I forgot our ear defenders no questions asked and we returned on leaving. It was very loud and busy so we did have to leave as it was a bit overwhelming for my daughter. Luckily, as a family of 7 and 130 price tag, we were able to come again before leaving and see the whole aquarium. Due to the annual pass with every ticket we can use again next time too. Worth a trip lots to see and do
Thank you for your lovely feedback. We are happy to hear that you found our sensory bags useful during your visit and that you were able to benefit from the annual pass so quickly. We hope to 'sea' you again soon!
Negative experience: Wasn't the best as there weren't loads of fishes. My 13 and 11 years old got really board
Sorry to hear you and your children didn't enjoy themselves. We are home to over 3500 animals and do try to be an attraction that everyone enjoys.
Fantastic experience: Deep Ocean Encounter – A Journey into the Blue My recent visit to the Deep Ocean experience was nothing short of incredible! From waddling penguins to massive sharks, it felt like I had stepped into another world beneath the sea. The penguin exhibit was a pure delight—watching them follow their keeper across the icy terrain was like a real-life Happy Feet moment. The setting was immersive, and the animals looked healthy and well cared for. Then came the shark zone—WOW. Seeing that huge shark swim past the glass with kids reacting in awe was such a powerful reminder of how majestic and mysterious the ocean truly is. There was even a jaw display (possibly a megalodon?) that made me feel tiny just standing near it. You could practically hear "Jaws" music in your head! The whole experience was fun, educational, and visually stunning. It’s the kind of place where you could easily lose track of time just staring into the deep blue. Highly recommended for families, ocean lovers, or anyone looking for a fascinating escape from the everyday.
Thank you so much for the 'fin-tastic' review J4Y! It's great to hear that you enjoyed you visit to us. Make sure you make use of your annual pass and make unlimited visits to us for free within the next 12 months!
Fantastic experience: Excellent experience, what great exhibitions. Plenty to do and see. Interactive displays too. Only down side was the car parking guy saying the carpark was full when there were a lot of places, he sent us and others away to park elsewhere if he worked for me I would sack him. Great value for money and ticket is valid for 12 months to return free
Thank you for your feedback Richard, it's lovely to hear that you had a great visit. I will pass on your comments to the relevant department regarding the car parking.
Positive experience: A great day out for primary age children. My 13 & 19 yo children enjoyed it but not enough to go around twice or hang about. We explored the Deep within an hr......ÂŁ86 spent for an hour of fun! ? 7 out of 10 given by us.
Thank you for visiting Luisa. Your tickets include 12 months of unlimited free returns so we do hope you will 'bob' back again during one of our many events where you will be able to experience something different on each return.
Positive experience: We loved The Deep! Free disabled parking & free mobility scooter. Great exhibits, lots of information but my 9 Yr old grandson was only interested in the fish. He took loads of pictures & videos. Unfortunately the cafe is not as good. I ordered fish & chips. The chips were fine. This must be the only cafe in Hull that can't source sustainable fish. Six fish fingers & a small burger sized fish cake is no substitute. Either get this sorted or change the menu. Excuses are not good enough!
Hi Stephen, thank you for the feedback, we will pass this on to our Catering team. Hope to 'sea' you again soon!
Positive experience: Good visit for the family, little on expensive side but the tickets do allow you back for free over 12 month period.
Thanks for your comments Peter, we hope you can make use of your annual pass and visit us again soon!
Fantastic experience: Had a wonderful experience with the kids, I probably enjoyed it more than they did! Spent about 2-3 hours here looking around the various tanks/exhibits. Some areas seem to get a bit crowded (particularly the first window that looks into the big tank). Staff were all very friendly. Tickets included free returns for a year. Recommend a visit.
Thanks for your lovely feedback Matthew! We hope to 'sea' you again soon!
Positive experience: Spectacular but expensive aquarium with sharks, rays, penguins and jellyfish. Vast central tank with multiple viewing options but it's a struggle to spend much more than an hour without including the café and giftshop. The entry fee (£23) is steep but worthwhile if you're able to do multiple annual visits as it's an annual pass. Better than other Sealife centres I've seen but all such centres are expensive to run and offer very similar experiences. We made the mistake of attending at the very end of the day (it's open until 6 with 5pm last entry) when the feeding times and talks were finished- this could have made the experience far more memorable.
Thank you for your review Peter! We do hope you take advantage of your free returns and visit us earlier in the day so you can experience the presentations and catch the animal feeding times.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic day out and love that i can use 1 entry for a whole year!
We hope you can 'bob' in again soon Kate!
Fantastic experience: Amazing day and the staff have been so helpful all starting with me simply asking can we go round more than once as sometime my son who has SEN needs can’t always cope with the deep . So we was given a sensory bag that had ear defenders in and glasses and more ! And staff members informing us of there more quiet time on a Tuesday afternoon I think he said after 3 maybe ? They turn the music off turn lights up so it’s easier to see things and less people are around . With the help of the staff and sensory bag my son managed to enjoy himself for over 2 hours today at the deep ! Great day for us both . Thank you
Thank you for your lovely feedback! It's really great to hear that your son was able to enjoy longer with us and the sensory bag helped with that. Our Tranquil Tuesday are term time only from 3pm-6pm. We hope to 'sea' you all again soon!
Fantastic experience: Planned a day trip to Hull because I wanted to visit the Deep. Went with a friend studying to be a marine biologist, so was like having a personal tour guide haha Ticket is a bit pricey but gives access for a year. Though I don't really see myself going again as amazing as it was Spread over the floors. Cafe is available for a quick bite + a half-day resting point where you could have your own food. Plenty of seats throughout to take breaks. Central aquarium with some big fish is the highlight. On the way back up, can take a lift "through" this aquarium. Lots of good displays and fishes: butterfly, box, Moray, zebra, sawfish, turtle, jellyfish, starfish etc. we were there for 2.5h. There's some talks happening through the day if you're keen on that.
Thanks for your review Shreya, it's lovely to hear you enjoyed your visit!
Fantastic experience: Excellent day out for children. The days entry allows re-entry for a year. Excellent mix of evolutionary history, live exhibitions, show and tell, penguins, sharks, saw fishes. My children really enjoyed the turtle hospital, where they learned how to care for thermal shocked turtles, help remove plastic from their tummies, and bandage them for release into the wild. We have visited the deep now, over 10 times over the past 3 years. There is always something new for the children to engage and learn. Highly recommend for a good day out. Suggest booking a slot in advance to avoid disappointment.
That's 'fin-tastic' to hear, thanks Matthew!
Positive experience: Lovely experience. The ticket you buy allows you to return as many times as you like for 12 months. Lots to see and such an educative aquarium. Great place for kids - I had a 3 year old and a 1.5 year old and they both enjoyed it thoroughly. Lovely and spacious. No turtles though
Hi Ruby, thank you for your review. It's great to hear you all enjoyed your visit. Just so you are aware, we have 2 Loggerhead sea turtles in our Endless Ocean exhibit. They are often sleeping on the bottom or right up at the top being fed. On your next visit, ask one of our guides to point them out if you can't spot them. We also have 2 river turtles in the shop close to the exit.
Positive experience: Dated but still mesmerising. Our 6 month old, absolutely loved it! Wasn't too busy for a Saturday. I enjoyed the cafe too, great cajin chicken salad.
Thank you for your feedback, its great to hear you enjoyed your visit. We hope to 'sea' you again soon!
Fantastic experience: Excellent aquarium displays featuring a wide range of creatures with lots of information and live talks by the staff.
'Tanks' for the great review Jason!
Fantastic experience: We've had a really nice day at The Deep today. There were LOADS of fish in the tanks who all looked well cared for. The staff were all very friendly and knowledgeable; we particularly enjoyed speaking to Rob in the tunnel that goes through the main fish tank. He went above and beyond to explain things to us and show us how things worked. He was very kind and approachable. Great day out all in all with great facilities for family. Would highly recommend.
Thank you for the fin-tastic review! Hope to 'sea' you again soon!
Fantastic experience: We travelled a well worth 40 minutes to get to the Deep today with our annual pass. We enjoy it each time we visit and it's a place that simply, never gets old. The animals are all just so beautiful, we especially love the penguins as they all have such a great personality- not forgetting the Jellyfish whom always take our breath away and The Deep have so much information on them. The Deep is well worth a visit, even more so as you get to come back time and time again for a full year. We will be back again very soon!
Positive experience: Very nice and very clean we went gor the place opening and went for breakfast but was told they had no bacon for husbands sarnie but then served staff a full breakfast sandwich which was not fair but other wise a nice visit over all
Thanks for your feedback Jackie. I'm sorry to hear about your experience in our café. I have passed on your comments to our catering team to ensure this doesn't happen again.

Positive experience: Always nice to visit here. Kids love it ... Pricing is for the FULL YEAR! so it's great to return multiple times. Only criticism is the lift to exit takes a while as it is within the aquarium... Other than that, plenty of room, all exhibits are clean, staff are friendly.
Thanks for your feedback Russell, we hope you can 'bob' in again soon!
Fantastic experience: Fab day out for all the family, very interactive and interesting. Plenty of seating all the way around and even somewhere to sit and eat your own picnic if you don't fancy the cafe.
Thank you for your review Angela! We hope you can make the most of your annual pass and visit as many times as you wish for the following 12 months for free.
Fantastic experience: Great place to go and explore and have fun
Fantastic experience: An interesting place. I was expecting an aquarium, but its more of a mix of aquarium and history of the planet. Some really good displays, amazing fish, penguins and views from the top cafe and viewing area. About 2hrs to make your way through and the ticket becomes an annual pass. Kids seem to enjoy it as much as the adults. Toilets etc clean and tidy, staff friendly and knowledgable. Perfect
We're glad you enjoyed your visit, Paul, hope to 'sea' you again soon!
Fantastic experience: Absolutely fantastic experience at The Deep. I don’t normally leave reviews but felt completely to. First off the place is spotless, lovely and clean and fantastic facilities. There is loads to see and do and the exhibits and staff talks were all fantastic. What I was truly blown away by was what an incredibly inclusive place this is. We chose to visit term time as we have a child with autism who finds things like this incredibly overwhelming. There is an online social story provided on the website which was fantastic as I normally have to do this myself. My child became really overwhelmed half way through and was very upset. There were staff all around who immediately recognised she was struggling, provided headphones and a quiet place. I’ve never experienced such kindness, compassion and understanding of children with autism anywhere I have gone. Absolutely can’t praise them all enough.
Hi Emily, thank you for leaving such a lovely review for us, we are very pleased to hear you enjoyed your recent visit! We hope to 'sea' you again soon!
Fantastic experience: Great place to visit. Informative and educating too. Particularly enjoyed learning about the conservation projects. Thanks.
Fantastic experience: I recently visited and was very impressed with the staffs, knowledge, passion and friendliness. The exhibits where beautifully laid out and animals all looked to be very well cared for. I would certainly rate The Deep as my favourite plaice in Hull.
Thank you for your kind review Toldavf! We hope to 'sea' you again soon!
Fantastic experience: Every time I visit Hull I have to come here. Been a few times and actually never get bored of it. Great place to take the kids.

Positive experience: Great experience loved my time there well deffo go again
'Sea' you again soon, Christopher!
Fantastic experience: I had a great time. My children loved it. I am excited to visit again. More signage as to where the nearest toilets are would be great. Quite a wait to get in, this was a weekend in the school holidays and they were fully booked.
Great to hear you enjoyed your visit!
Fantastic experience: Fantastic experience, loved this aquarium so much from start to finish. We seen so many fish, sharks and many other animals at the deep. We got there by Vallances Coaches with my Mamma and Grandad. The food was lovely too. Definitely a place to not waste your money on an aquarium that I highly recommend visiting, best aquarium in the UK so far.
Thanks for your lovely feedback Luke! We hope you can visit us again soon!
Fantastic experience: Fantastic for our 18 month old, she loves watching the fish and there is a great variety to look at.
'Bob' in again soon Adam!
Fantastic experience: I haven't been in a while, but I have always really loved this place. I think it's magical. We arrived as they opened on a Sunday morning so it wasn't too busy or loud.
Thanks for your feedback Clare, we hope to 'sea' you again soon!
Fantastic experience: Great place for a date! Also the annual pass is awesome value! Staff are friendly and answer questions well. Love the jellyfish are my fave!
'Tanks' for the great review!
Fantastic experience: Fantastic , well worth a visit. Busy but was a weekend. Pay once go all year.
'Tanks' a lot Paul!
Fantastic experience: Great day out with lots of different sea life to see and learn about.
Thanks Daniel, we hope to 'sea' you again soon!
Positive experience: Wonderful place, animals and staff Everywhere is clean Only downside but it's not the aquarium fault on busy days, carparking limited
Fantastic experience: Really good place to go. Very good for wheelchairs and pushchairs. You get a lift to the third floor and you work your way round going down gently ramps to the exit and gift shop. Perfect for children and adults with walking disabilities. Absolutely amazing exhibits. A must see I'm not going to tell you and spoil it. Everyone I took was amazed.
Fantastic experience: Definitely Would Recommend As A Day Out My favourite part is the sharks and the penguins
Great to hear, 'bob' back soon!
Fantastic experience: Great visit with the family. Not crazy busy today so that helped with having a 7 yr old with a brain injury. He was able to take his time going round without stressing out. The penguins were his favourites today. We also ate at the cafe and had an enjoyable (though not cheap) meal of home made steak and veg pie with chips and peas. We'll be back with our year pass.
Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review Matthew. We look forward to 'sea-ing' you again soon!
Fantastic experience: lovely place for my small grand daughter to see she really loved it the food was very tasty x
Thanks Karen, we hope to 'sea' you all again soon!
Fantastic experience: We had a nice experience. It was beyond our expectations, it was very good. They maintained the “Deep” very well. Highly recommended especially with kids, they sure liked it.
Thanks Jerin, we hope you can make use of your annual pass and visit as many times as you wish for free within the next 12 months.
Fantastic experience: Great afternoon revisiting the Deep. Not too busy so much easier to enjoy. As ever the staff are friendly and helpful.
'Tanks' a lot Daniel!
Fantastic experience: We had some vouchers, so we decided to use them - Rolling in The Deep. We went in the holidays and it was busy but not too busy. We were only really waiting for around 5 mins to get in or at the cafe. The rest of the time, we weren't really waiting any longer than a minute to see anything. Very informative attraction and the sea life there seems to be well looked after and happy. There is an ample car park but will cost you a small amount for a couple or so hours. To be fair, that's all you'll need to get round and maybe have something to eat too. Definitely worth a visit for half a day or so. Afterwards, try some of the other free attractions nearby.
Thanks for your feedback Mike, it's great to hear your enjoyed your visit! We hope you can make use of your annual pass and visit unlimited times during the next 12 months. Best fishes, The Deep Crew
Fantastic experience: My last excursion to The Deep must have been a very long time ago, and so it was fun to take my friend for his first trip there. I used Tesco Clubcard vouchers to get my ticket. The variety of aquatic life never fails to amaze me! From the penguins to jellyfish to a little axolotl at the end, it’s definitely a must-see when in Hull.
Thank you for your review TFT! We hope you can make use of your annual pass and make unlimited visits to us for the next 12 months.
Positive experience: Kids were very excited to be here. Had a few interactive things for them to enjoy. It would have been a much better experience if they had an open water area for them to be able to touch some sea life (starfish or stingrays), the kids were looking out for this but didn't see anything like this.
Hi Sum, thank you for your feedback. We no longer offer the touchpool sessions as it can become stressful for the creatures. We hope you can 'bob' in again soon! Thanks, The Deep Crew
Positive experience: Lovely facility, lots to see. Lovely little features for young ones such as a projection rock pool and plenty of long and low viewing windows for little ones to see which has been an issue in other facilities. Lovely cafe and food - staff were really helpful and friendly. Gift shop was really well laid out with lots of choice and prices as you'd expect for a gift shop but not extortionate. Only annoying thing was one lift back to the exit which had a large queue but the stairs weren't that challenging and had great views of the large tank with sharks.
Thank you for your review Natalie! We hope you can 'bob' in again soon!
Positive experience: A pretty amazing place to come and visit. Had seen the place hyped up online and decided to visit. Kind of wish there were some more exhibitions but the ones that are there are extremely impressive, some of the biggest tanks I’ve ever seen. Parking available on site but it’s not free.
'Tanks' for your feedback Dylan!
