Fantastic experience: Barry is great he helped me and my kids setup an aquarium last year. Whenever we go back and visit to top up our aquarium supplies he is extremely friendly to us. It is always a positive experience to visit B&C Aquariums

Negative experience: Walked into the shop and there was no saltwater fish, stock and equipment as per the website. The owner should update their website to prevent customers disappointment

Positive experience: They have a good range of healthy fish and the store is spacious and well presented. My problem with this place is that it is often unexpectedly closed. I had wanted to shop here last Tuesday. It was closed. I took special note of the opening hours posted on the door; closed Tuesdays. Fair enough. The sign said open 10-3 on Sundays. I drove a considerable distance with a firm intention of buying some fish as a present for a grandchild. CLOSED. Annoying

Fantastic experience: I've been going to Barry since I was a kid... he is always friendly and knowledgeable about the stuff he sells.

Negative experience: at first I thought this was a great store to buy aquarium fish. I bought a couple of fish and about a week goes by where I notice a fish dies I don't think much of it because it tends to happen alot due to stress, change of water and all that sort of thing. But then a couple days later another one dies, and I start noticing more start to die over the next few days and then I see that they start to get covered with white spots I did some research and found out its a parasite called "ich" and now my whole tank in infected with them. I've never had this problem until I bought those fish from this store. So no I do not recommend it.

Fantastic experience: The owner took our fish when we were relocating, which my partner and I very much appreciate!! They have beautiful, clean tanks and take great care of their fish. The display tanks are also very impressive!! Definitely worth a visit. To all the one star reviews on here that are complaining of their fish dying - fish are very delicate, they can die easily for a number of reasons, common ones being dirty water, inadequate water filters, putting them in the tank before it's cycled, not adjusting them to the water first, etc. I wouldn't refund you either unless you had some kind of proof that your water wasn't the issue. It's not always the shop owners fault, and coming from an experienced fish owner, they take excellent care of their fish.

Positive experience: Everything was nice and tidy. Fish and accessories were really cheap. Only the downside was i saw a dead fish in a tank and other fishes were feeding on it.

Negative experience: Was closed when Google said it was open. Yes, many businesses have altered trading hours but at least update your online info or have a sign on the door. Have tried calling on multiple occasions to see if they're open before I head there but phone just rings out.

Negative experience: They haven't been open and no one is picking up the phone. Should have at least updated their details on here to let the customers know.

Fantastic experience: I'm new to fish keeping and highly inquisitive. I've found Barry and staff at Matraville to be extremely helpful and patient with my never ending questions. I cross reference all I'm told and find Barry has given me the right advice every time. I've on a couple of occasions taken stuff to the counter to buy and Barry has simply said "You don't need all that. Here, this is what you need." He's saved me money and undoubtedly disappointment.

Fantastic experience: Not many good aquarium shops around these days but B&C always have good healthy livestock. And friendly service.

Fantastic experience: Bought some honey gourami, angels and cardinals this week. Just gorgeous. Great shop, easy to find a parking spot AND the shop is open WEEKENDS YAY!!! Loving my aquarium and pet fish. It's such a great hobby. I will post more photos of my fish in coming weeks.

Fantastic experience: Came in to browse the axolotls, and they had the exact colour morph I was looking for. Tanks were in good condition and axolotls in good housing (no gravel, yay!). Friendly and knowledgeable staff, who knew specific needs of axolotls compared to fish (don't usually encounter this in a lot of stores). I know a lot about keeping them so was happy that the staff asked me about my set up, to make sure it was suitable. Thank you very much! Steve is loving his new home :)

Fantastic experience: Good fish stock. Great service. If they don’t have something they’ll get it in quickly. Have been getting them to come out to do monthly maintenance on the aquarium and the prices for the service are very reasonable. Overall very happy.

Negative experience: Would not let my small dog in, staff were very rude, not a large selection, so over priced, not professional, people I know that have bought fish from here, the fish die fast, that is why I asked for a job. won't be approaching the store again.

Negative experience: I was all excited to check out this shop, to buy stuff for my Cichlids, but after entering with my little Terrier, I have been advised by the staff, that dogs are not allowed in there, I replied, that I find this very strange -we have been to so many Aquarium Shops but the answer was, you cant bring dogs to any shops, and that there is even a sign on the door! I did not want to spend any money at this place,so we left and walked a few metres down the road to Stefmar Petcare and I bought all my Hikari, Nutrafin, Tetra, Spectrum and Seachem Products there. Dear B+C Shop Owner, I hope you get all the nasty kids in and banging at your tanks and breaking all your ornaments- little Terrier don't do those things! And all you Fish (and Dog) Lover go to Aquaristic in Beaconsfield, not only Expert Advise and a fantastic Range in Livestock and Accessories, they have even a Treat for your Dog behind the Counter

Negative experience: Quite expensive decor, although well priced fish, they don't last anywhere near what is expected (like 1 month MAX) owner of store is freindly although most staff will not advise you with the correct knowledge, I bought a few fish from there and they all died within one month

Negative experience: Brought some fish and one of them died the next day. They completely refused to exchange it. Feels like a couple of bucks is worth more than making customers happy and getting repeat business.

Positive experience: It is a nice shop, with some well priced marine fishes. They don't have a vast range of marine stock, but when there is stock, it is always healthy and with a great price. Barry is also makes the visit worthwhile as he is always keen to have a friendly chat.
