Negative experience: bought 10 aquatic plants for my fish tank from this shop. 3 weeks later my tank is infested with baby snails. & when I mean infested I’m talking 1000’s. I’m going to have to rebuild my tank which I am super not happy about hence the review.

Fantastic experience: Good friendly service very organised and everything is easy to find. Great supply of hard scape products and plants and there fish are great. If you need help with things Christian and all the staff at A1 will do there best to help U. They have a good range of saltwater fish and equipment and they have a great range of tanks to suit ur needs and great little tanks for kids to start out with. Christian owns and runs A1 and he and all his stuff maintain the shop to be neat and tidy and clean.

Negative experience: Really bed quality fish. They don't have any refund policy, I bought 10 guppies just a week ago they started to die after 2 days and at the moment I just have 3 left. They are sick . The only luck is that I didn't put them with other fishes

Negative experience: The employee who served me could not find item in till, so asked (who I assume is) the owner who was sitting on a crate behind the counter. He did not want to help his employee or me, lots of sighing and visibly showing his annoyance. Asked me to come over to the shelf to show me where the price is (why should i even have to know that?). Realised that he had not put a price there. Snarled to the employee to take all those items off the shelf. Just a horrible interaction. To you who are employed here, you do not have to work for someone who doesn't respect you or their customers. I hate to leave a bad review at a local business but this was a terrible interaction and I left feeling bad for the poor employee, and regretful that I didn't put all items back and leave when I was being disrespected like that.

Fantastic experience: Been shopping here for years. Christian and his team have always been happy to help and always go the extra mile. They have advised me on ideal fish for my experience and have always tested my water when I need, they have also shown me things I can do to help my fish and my aquarium experience, especially with my plants, they have gone above and beyond to help me have the best experience with growing plants. Something I never thought I'd do, but thanks to the help I've been able to grow a planted aquarium.

Negative experience: THE most depressing aquarium i’ve ever stepped foot in! there was a baby axolotl that was dead approximately 3 - 4 days his feet were clearly missing and he shouldn’t have been in there. a full grown big eyed gold fish was clearly bloated and hanging upside down. this place was absolutely disgusting the filters looked like they haven’t been changed since they opened the place, the fish looked like they haven’t been fed. there’s was no staff in sight to report these issues to. this place was absolutely trashed, no price tags, lots of clutter. overall unpleasant experience. not recommended for children, fish lovers or those who have a heart, very devastating. will not be revisiting ever again.

Negative experience: If I could give a 0 I would have. Warning to patrons do not buy from this seller! Website says items in stock you order and pay and never get the goods! Ring them, and they say oh sorry we don’t have stock I’ll refund you, one month later no items, no money and dispute opened to try get money back! This company is a sham

Positive experience: When we went there were some naughty kids putting their hands in the tanks and trying to grab fish out with the nets too. A number of dead fish in tanks too. We just bought some carbon filter for our tanks

Negative experience: This is not a good aquarium shop. Every time I come in here to have a look, all of the freshwater fish are not active, laying on the bottom or floating at the top of their tanks. The tanks are overstocked, all of the freshwater fish have fin rot, torn fins, discoloured fins. The bettas are kept in cups all around the place, with lids on. No filtration and only a tiny space. The place stinks like no man's business. I had high hopes for this place, but it's not a nice shop to be in. I love fish, I have heaps of fish, mostly goldfish, and it makes me so sad that all of these amazing, beautiful fish they have are suffering because this overstaffed shop doesn't seem to do anything to take care of their fish. I have never bought anything here and never will. They way they treat their fish is gross and I am disgusted.

Negative experience: I've been out of the fish scene for a while now. Last time I went in Here Don still owned the place and it was top grade. Now the customer service is poor and the fish aren't real healthy. It'll be interesting to see if I can bring the fish I bought back to good health.

Negative experience: Opened late and told 'too busy for a water test'. Obviously I am there for a reason and without the professional help I needed, I have lost my Aquatic friends. I work in retail and would never tell a customer that, it takes 5 mins max for a water test.

Negative experience: I placed and order with A1 Aquarium. It took them one week to get back to me to let me know that the Aquarium medicine that i order was out of stock. I replied straight away to the email and ask when it would be back in stock and it took A1 Aquarium one more week to reply to my email! Poor customer service!!!!

Negative experience: Pretty disappointed at the way A1 has been running lately. From selling Goldfish with 16L tanks (who require around 60L per fish) to keeping bettas in small plastic containers. Used to love going there to buy fish and get advice, but rather disappointed about their recent changes.

Negative experience: It's impossible to give 0 stars, I would other wise. Everytime I shop there, there are sick fish there, I got a cichlid from there and I put it in with my other cichlid as a tank mate, it had caused my take to go cloudy and all the fish in that tank to die. Please anyone, DO NOT SHOP HERE!!!. they're tanks are all connected to the one setup. Which means if one fish is sick, all fish are sick. I bet you if you ask any other customer, they would agree!.

Negative experience: Tl;dr if you want to go to a shop where staff just want to start fiat fights come here, if you want your current aquarium to stay clean and healthy avoid this shop. Went to buy an albino and tiger Oscar from this store today. We were in the store for about 15 minutes waiting for someone to serve us, plenty of staff walked past us but none wanted to help serve. In the time we were waiting one of the staff pushed and my fiancee towards the fish tanks to get through. This wouldn't be so much of a problem if they didn't have there shop floor overstocked to the point you can barely walk through. When we were finally served we were told the tiger Oscars where sick and could not be sold, we made the trip out to A1 because they put a Facebook advertisement out 30 minutes prior to us arriving showing the Oscars and saying they're selling quick. They've had pictures of said fish over Facebook for a week now, why is it 30 minutes after starting to sell them you notice they're sick? A1 uses a shared water system between all they're tanks, if these fish are sick and they haven't been quarrenteined in another tank ALL of their fish risk catching this Illness. When we asked why they were posted 30 minutes ago and now they're suddenly sick the young man serving us just snapped at us they're sick, no other explaination. As we were walking out said staff member was flipping the finger and abusing us as we walked out under his breath. As we could hear him my partner asked to speak to the manager, I don't know what experience this 'manager' has the you g guy continues to abuse us right next to his manager. As I called him out on his lies he turns to me and says 'you want to f***ing go C***'. The manager pushes him towards the back of the shop, as the staff pushed a direct threat of violence towards me I asked for him to be written up and this matter to be taken further. Shop manager said he could not do that but could not justify his reasonings not to. Save yourself the stress A1 was good, new management couldn't manage s*** in a sewer treatment plant. if you care about your fish and dont want them wiped out by illness never come to this shop.

The weekly fish specials provide great value on some commonplace, and sometimes quite obscure, fish. For aquatic livestock I will always recommend this shop.
