Ocean Park Aquarium

Fantastic experience: the Ocean Park Aquarium, and let me tell you, it was absolutely worth the look.Our guided tour was an incredible experience. We learned so much about the ocean and its inhabitants. It was a truly educational and enjoyable day out!

Fantastic experience: Totally unexpected. As a tourist park, it’s small. The tour is about an hour. But almost continuous. We were added to a group as they finished the shark lake. Tour guides were informative about the marine life. 14 displays and we cycle thru them and finishing at the shark lake, where we left the group and exited the display area to have a pleasant beverage while the afternoon sun descended. Well worth the admission price. By the way, it’s puppy friendly, as always if you can’t control your pet don’t bring it.

Negative experience: The staff were really professional, friendly and knowledgeable. However for me it looked extremely grim. Alge on the tanks a cuttlefish going backwards and forwards on exactly the same path. Can't think of another word just grim.

Positive experience: Was a great tour. Very informative. Did have troubles understanding the lovely young backer due to her accent. We were lucky to be on tail end of her tour and got to go on rest of tour with a lovely young local guy who had a great personality and knowledge of the local marine wildlife

Positive experience: Average aquarium to others we've been to for the cost. It really needs some TLC. It was good to see different sea creatures that one would never encounter otherwise. Lily was lovely and knowledgeable. Thanks

Fantastic experience: Bit pricey but a good 2 hrs of information and best bit could take our dog and she was freebetter than $30 for 2 at Monkey Mia!!

Negative experience: Recently visited very disappointing. Not sure what's happening as the shark wasn't interested in feeding nor were the other fish. The presenter was lovely and informative but the fish wasn't playing today. Not worth the cost atm.

Fantastic experience: Very informative tour conducted by (Sini/Siri??). He was not only very knowledgeable but also entertaining. The best part of this place is its dog friendly, and as hubby and I are travelling full time for 3 months its very hard to be able to enjoy experiences together, so we were very grateful to be able to take our 2 mini schnauzers. Also the coffee at the Cafe afterwards was good too!

Negative experience: Depressing and sad place. Fish kept in plastic tubs, makes you feel like you’re at a garden centre. There was no information given on any conservation efforts for marine life. It seems very unethical. The tour was meant to be 1 hour be lasted 40 minutes. Not worth the time or money. The guide however was friendly.

Positive experience: Great location on the waters edge, fishing for those who like to. fresh seafood sales just around the corner.

Negative experience: We took some friends from Europe to see sharks and the waters were too merky and did not spot one despite waiting for two tours and being what park is being advertised for. At the start the lights of the smaller aquariums would not even working and we could also not see the smaller fish. When raising the issue that it would have been nice to be warned that that was a possibility that we did not spot any sharks, there was not even an acknowledgement or apology. Just be aware that over 100 dollars for a family will not guarantee any shark spotting or feeding (our guide did not feed the sharks neither). I understand animals might not be hungry but if the water is not clear they know they can’t guarantee any spotting and this should either warn the public before getting and make a discount.

Positive experience: A bit pricey, but worth it for the info. Tour guide was awesome. She got the kids involved in the feeding etc. Very informative

Negative experience: Not worth the money. Watch out for the wooden pallets near the tanks! A very easy fall!

Negative experience: The tour guides were very informative, but the aquarium was very run down and we didnt see the sharks due to the unclear water, It was an underwhelming experience for us as a family.

Fantastic experience: We had a great time at the Shark Bay Aquarium! My wife and our 1-year-old son loved getting up close with the marine life—especially the sharks and rays. It was the perfect mix of fun and education, and seeing our little one’s face light up made it extra special. A great family stop if you’re in the area. Also a great deck for enjoying a refresher and taking in a beautiful view.

Fantastic experience: I'm not sure what my expectations were upon arrival but whatever they may have been, they were exceeded. This was one of the best and most informative tours I have ever done. The guide was an excellent communicator and was able to make people of all ages feel at ease. Plenty of information was delivered but with lots of anecdotal stories to make it easier to understand. The lasted around 75 minutes and held my attention right to the end.

Fantastic experience: Definitely worth a visit here. It's a guided tour; we had Sienna, who really knew her stuff, and was very friendly and entertaining. There's a lot to see and lots of interesting info. Beautiful location for a snack after the tour too!

Fantastic experience: great value for money went for over an hour easily and you are free to wander around again as long as u like and listen to all the tours we took our dog and its was lovely perfect day for it we had a great funny guide sorry forget his name but this is def worth doing and well worth the $35

Fantastic experience: This place is a treasure, mainly because of its staff. As the reviews say, it is mainly a series of smallish tanks with a couple of ponds outside. Unless you’re on a tour, it would be hard to interpret what you’re seeing. But they encourage everyone to take a tour, and that’s where the knowledge and passion of the guides kicks in. We had a fascinating tour and because we were a bit late, our guide took the two of back to the tanks we missed. We came away more knowledgeable and feeling as if we’d made a friend. Worth every cent

Negative experience: Paying $35 AUD per person felt like a considerable amount for such a brief experience. Observing the large fish in what seemed like rather cramped tanks was a bit disheartening, especially considering the magnificent Western Australian reefs teeming with life are just outside. It created a somewhat uneasy feeling, contrasting the natural freedom of the ocean with the confines of those glass boxes. I don’t recommend

Fantastic experience: The staff is very enthusiastic to explain the knowledge about marine life, it can be seen that they love the ocean and love his profession, although the venue is not big, but can let the children know a lot of marine knowledge, which is very valuable!

Fantastic experience: We visited Ocean Park Aquarium in Shark Bay, Denham and had a guided tour. Pet friendly. Their mission is to protect and conserve the marine environment and inspire visitors to appreciate the oceans. Very informative and well worth a visit.

Fantastic experience: What a cool place. Got to learn some fact and saw some pretty dangerous stuff up close lol. I really liked the constant tour idea. The knowledgeable staff had everyone hooked on every word. Got to see a real life shark feeding for the first time. Kids loved it. Only downside it is not a very big place compared to other aquariums we’re used to.

Fantastic experience: We spent about 3 hours here, including the 1h+ tour. Knowledgeable and jovial guide, we all learned lots! All washed down with a beer on-tap.

Positive experience: The idea is great and the tour guide we had was awesome. Just don’t think the setup is great for younger children. Some people would like to just go and see all the animals in the hour and go, but after an hour of the tour we had only seen half and still in the undercover area. Poor tour guide had so many people and kids to answer questions for and he did amazing, just probably do more of our own research before going if it’s right for us. If your kids are a bit older (5 onwards) I’d say it would be perfect. Pretty disappointed but not with the staff or the setup, which was incredible on both sides. We will definitely do it this again just when the kids are older. Thanks guys

Positive experience: Tour guides very experienced and passionate about their jobs, great display however $35pp is getting up there in price in my opinion, $20-$25 would be more affordable especially for families.

Fantastic experience: Dropped in today for the tour and walk around the aquarium. Joa, our tour guide was fantastic and very knowledgeable. Joa was great with the kids and interaction was great. We learnt a lot about all kinds of species. This place is a MUST to see, make sure you drop in if your in the area.

Positive experience: Friendly and informative guides show you around the park for an hour or so where you will find a range of big and small fish with many found around the bay and off course several species sharks and rays are fed. Interesting to learn about the Shark Bay Sea Snake.

Positive experience: If u want to see sharks without fear, this is the place to go. Paid $35 and hit and miss wth guided tour. Been once u don't need to do it again

Fantastic experience: The aquarium outshines some of the more expensive and upmarket aquariums around. Simplicity allows for a greater close-up experience. From the getgo, you are one with nature, from the guides knowledge and enthusiasm, and the endless tanks with abundance of sea creatures in their temporary homes. I say temporary as the aquarium cycles the natives on a regular basis to ensure all creatures return to the wild. The staff are friendly and inviting, always sharing the experience and joy with each visitor. I recommend visiting the Ocean Park Aquarium when you can.

Positive experience: Would say it is a little pricey for what it is. Also have some reservations only the sustainability element of the place considering some of the pen sizes…

Positive experience: Excellent presentation and location. The 3 star review is because the enclosed aquarium section was absolutely riddled with large mosquito's and we were not provided with this information before entering (we had to wait at least 10 mins before presentation started) so the entire group including ourselves and our 5 month old baby got smashed by the mozzies. If we had been told before entering, we had repellent in the car and a net for our pram we could have used.

Fantastic experience: Nice location, we were here in the off season, so lucky for us it was nice and quiet but only the cafe and shop was open, the young gentleman who served us was amazingly friendly and perfectly suited to customer service. (forgot to grab his name) My prawn tacos were delicious and they are dog friendly!

Fantastic experience: Great tour with very informative and knowledgeable staff - very friendly and fun! Great for kids too. Little cafe serves great coffees. I think his name was Jake or Blake / very interactive and great tour. Recommend visiting this place if you’re in Denham!

Fantastic experience: We went there this morning and it was great!! Our guide was amazing, very informative and funny, it wasn’t at all busy but not empty either, all the animals looked really heathy and well looked after, they have lemon and nervous sharks there right now, as well as lots of venomous fish and rays that it was interesting seeing up close. Was worth it for the entry price in my opinion, as it’s well looked after and the guides know what their talking about, love it

Fantastic experience: What a fantastic place to visit for anyone with easy access and parking for all abilities. Once inside we joined our 1 hour tour which just rotates round the aquarium with your guide swopping out at the end of their stint. Everyone was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about their jobs loving what they did. The gift shop had some lovely things in it and the cafe/restaurant is licensed so we had lunch and some adult beverages on our first visit - the food was delicious and very reasonably priced. On our second visit we called in just for coffee and muffins, delicious!

Fantastic experience: I Came here with my daughter, we were greeted by a nice lady at the counter. We had no idea what to expect. She started telling us all about what this place is.. We payed for it, prices weren’t to expensive it was $60 for me and my daughter. She showed us how to get to tour, with no wait time needed. The tour guide was very informative and all the fish looked well kept and healthy.

Negative experience: Good knowledgeable staff, paid $113 and was looking forward too relaxing on deck with a drink after tour which finished at 3.35pm. Looked at drinks menu, but was told we are closing. Staff clearly trying too get off early and not caring about customer experience. Really not happy about that and won't be back as mentioned by staff member they open kitchen again at 9am tomorrow.

Fantastic experience: If you're in the area, DO NOT miss this attraction. Cyrian, our guide, was knowledgeable, warm and charismatic, such as a character. Allow a good 3-4 hours.

Positive experience: Ironically we had the seafood platter at the restaurant before exploring the aquarium. The platter was delicious with a good variety of seafood cooked in different ways. The views, though, are magnificent. This place is situated on a hill overlooking a large sea grass meadow, and it's absolutely gorgeous! The aquarium itself is low-key but full of local marine life. They hold tours continuously, so you just join in when you arrive and finish when you end up where you started. Well, that's how it worked for us. Sage was our guide and she was incredibly knowledgeable with an obvious passion for the marine life. The tours were very educational, especially for us Kiwis who know nothing about Australian wildlife. Sage made sure to point out the things that can harm you and those that probably won't which was very helpful!

Fantastic experience: I always thought been to one aquarium been to them all but this one was so much better than any I've been to before. The tour was great. The guides were very knowledgeable. It was on the pricier side so if you're on a travel budget I'd give it a miss.

Fantastic experience: stopped in impromptu on our way to monkey mia just in time for a tour to start and it was such a worthwhile detour! our tour guide sienna was an expert and kept us engaged the whole way round. the sting rays and shark feeding were definitely highlights for us, but it was also so interesting to learn about the range of local marine life.

Fantastic experience: We had a great visit to the aquarium on our way leaving Monkey Mia. We arrived at the same time as a massive rain storm, so decided to have lunch before starting the Aquarium tour. The guide was very entertaining and informative, we saw some venomous creatures we hadn’t seen before, along with some practical tips in case we were to encounter any of them in the nature. Definitely recommend popping by when in the area. Lunch is served until 3pm.

Fantastic experience: Myself & partner visited here on the 9/10/24 sheltering from a super windy day on the off chance! We had a great tour, kai knew everything there is to know about the marine fish in every tank. He let us know about the shark dive, which my other half booked for the next day. Stacey Accompanied dan on his dive & he literally had the time of his life. I also had a great time being able to video the experience with the young girl ( sorry I forgot your name) All the staff are super friendly & you can tell they really look after the We then had breakfast & despite dan ordering me the wrong thing the food was delicious and glad we came in randomly! Thank you so much you made our travels in shark bay memorable!

Positive experience: The tour was great and the tour guide was very knowledgeable, I really enjoyed the morning. The only thing to mention was that I purchased and iced mocca. It wasn't a great drink. It was way too sweet, like drinking liquid sugar. I also received cream when I asked for no cream. It was a simple drink that somehow came out as a disaster. Would recommend the tour but not the drinks!

Fantastic experience: Really enjoyed our visit. Firstly it’s dog friendly, the dog loved seeing the fish and sharks! Great to hear about the local marine wildlife from knowledgeable guides. The cafe is well worth a visit too, the view is amazing out on the deck, a place for kids to play, food was great and we were surprised about the quality beers on tap (much better than in town!)

Positive experience: These guys are doing some good work saving injured wildlife and also educating the public about what we can find in the local area and marine life we might find around Shark Bay. The enclosures/number of animals could have been a bit better for the entry price but good to learn something new. The shark feeding was very disappointing as the sharks had been fed multiple times on the previous tours and previous days so when it came around to our tour, the sharks were not even remotely interested in the food. Didn’t even have a single nibble.

Fantastic experience: I was a bit unsure being a bit on the costly side but well worth every dollar! We had one of the newer guides (not sure on his name but blonde and maybe Dutch??) he was so well informed and passionate it was absolutely phenomenal, he was also so patient with all of our questions and taught us a lot about what we will see in the area and how to behave around certain marine life - absolute legend! Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: Amazing, there are tours all day where they tell you about all creatures in all pool, fish, sharks and lots more. The shark pool using water from water they came from they live naturally no heaters. Information given was well informative

Fantastic experience: Great little place right on the coast, with very friendly staff. Our lovely guide gave us a very informative tour which went for nearly an hour and a half (advertised as 45m - 1 hr)! We were booked in for 9, but the first tour didn’t start until 9.25, and as you are on your guided tour other people just join in along the way, so it was a big group by 10 ish. We then had a lovely brunch on the deck with an amazing view. You are able to take your dogs in as well.

Positive experience: Only a small establishment. Had a few interesting fish to look at in separate tanks. A few sharks and other larger fish in outdoor pool. The feeding was a fizzle, as none of the sharks or fish were really interested in a feed. Personally, my opinion only, not worth the entry fee.

Positive experience: We didn't think it was worth the money. With the tour you just tag onto the ent of the tour that is going around. They have shark feeding every hour but you lucky to see them eat and our guide told us that.

Fantastic experience: The park was excellent. Very informative and just a lovely place to hang out. However, their Steep Point and Dirk Hartog Marine Safari tour was sensational!!! We had Emily and Russell and they were kind and considerate and so generous with information and knowledge of the area and diligent in ensuring we saw everything that was available to see. And they so obviously love this place and sharing it with people. Was well worth tacking an extra night onto my stay to experience this. So grateful. No hesitation recommending this tour. In fact, I insist you do it!!

Negative experience: I think the other reviews are being very generous. This place needs a total overhaul. The staff tried and they were knowledgeable but using that old fish on a rope to make the sharks react isn’t working anymore. How can they be allowed to take healthy sharks out of the park?? Clean the fish tanks and put the sharks back in the bay.
