Fantastic experience: A great place to visit. Especially with children. As well as having a great variety of exhibits, there are a variety of activities. Also, the theatre is exceptional, it's almost like yoy are underwater with dolphins spinning above yoy.

Our skipper tried his absolute hardest to find some and eventually we did just nearing the end of our tour so he extended it so we could spend some time looking at the dolphins! Fantastic experience: We were warned by the staff that weather is not ideal and should return another day. But we chose to go ahead as our itinerary is qt packed. It was really choppy on the boat due to the strong winds. But we still managed to see dolphins which is really qt an experience. We were all sea sick after that but I would say it's still worth it for the experience. All the staff were very friendly and kind to the kids.

Negative experience: Horrible. Would rate 0 stars if possible. Booked a party for our 4yr old, told the table was okay for 20 and that we could bring our own food, everyone gets there and the manager has the nerve to berate us in front of all our guests, other customers and staff. We were told by her "we don't host parties and you will be charged $10 per person for today" We had already spent over $800 on chips, drinks and entry into the attraction area, yet we were belittled and told to pay an extra $210 despite this. No onus was taken on their behalf for communicating false information and telling us we were okay to hold the party there and we were told to either pay or leave. Completely disrespectful treatment by absolutely all the staff members. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS ESTABLISHMENT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

Negative experience: absolutely terrible experience the manager was extremely unprofessional!!! we were told one thing over the phone and then another once we got there and were spoken to horribly!! the manager when having ago at me was spitting in my face at the same time i really do not recommend

Fantastic experience: The Dolphin Discovery Centre in Bunbury was an absolute highlight of our trip — and a perfect sanctuary on a wet and rainy day with the kids. As soon as we stepped inside, we were impressed by how well-designed and family-friendly the space was. It’s clear that the centre is not just about entertainment, but also about education, conservation, and meaningful engagement with marine life. Our kids were immediately drawn to the interactive exhibits — from the fascinating digital displays that explain dolphin behavior, to the touch pool where they got to gently handle starfish and sea cucumbers. The marine life 3D movie was a surprise hit with our younger ones, who sat mesmerized by the stunning visuals and underwater footage. Everything was hands-on, engaging, and perfectly pitched for children, while still being interesting for adults. The staff and volunteers were truly wonderful — warm, welcoming, and full of knowledge. They took the time to explain things to our children and answer all their (many!) questions patiently. Their passion for marine conservation really shines through, and it added depth and meaning to the whole visit. We left feeling like we had learned something new, not just had a good time. There’s also a small café on site with great coffee, simple kid-friendly meals, and panoramic views of the bay. It was a nice spot to unwind while the rain poured outside. Even better, we learned that if you come back on a sunnier day, you can take part in their dolphin eco-cruises or beach encounters — which we’d love to try next time. All in all, the Dolphin Discovery Centre is a top-notch experience for families, especially if you’re looking for a quality indoor activity during bad weather. It was fun, educational, and left us with warm memories and a deeper appreciation for marine life. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: What an incredible place. Everything was so well laid out, the staff there were so present and kind. A special mention to Suzette who was very informative and helpful with all of the children. We stayed for the main tank feeding, and the man speaking was fantastic. Lots to see, read and do. Overall a great experience and would visit again.

Fantastic experience: had a wonderful trip this morning. what we loved about it was the short journey needed to spot the dolphins, no choppy waters and sea sickness. almost no lull time at all, amazing time for the kids and adults alike. bonus was the humpback whale sighted tog with a small pod of dolphins!

Positive experience: Lovely small centre, best to time visit to include feeding times. Tickets valid all day. Great place for young children with plenty of interactive activities. Volunteers on hand to assist with displays and questions. Cafe was nice and very clean toilet facilities.

Fantastic experience: A lovely, spacious centre that’s perfect for families and marine life lovers. The indoor exhibit is thoughtfully curated with interactive displays on dolphin rescues, sea turtle rehab, and marine conservation. Great for both kids and adults to learn through hands-on experiences. You can also book dolphin and whale watching tours here.. just be sure to check the timings online in advance. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, taking time to explain and answer questions on the tours.

Positive experience: You"d be sorely disappointed if you are expecting to see dolphins here, haha! You can get on dolphin tours to see wild dolphins. Interactive features keep the kids and the adults alike entertained.

Fantastic experience: Due to the weather, we were told to move the boarding to a different location which made it cooler to be fair! Getting on from a playground! Journey was nice and yes we caught sight of some dolphins. What’s important was that the team were really good with dolphin knowledge in the area, sharing about habits and tips on these amazing creatures in their natural habitat. Team also ensured we caught sight of dolphins! Would definitely do this again some time in the future but probably during the warmer seasons. Thank you!

Fantastic experience: Myself and family went on this boat tour at the beginning of May and it was amazing! We seen loads of dolphins during the trip and the captain was very knowledgeable. My daughter is only 4 and she absolutely loved the experience. 10/10. We were visiting from Scotland and this is one of her best days of the holiday. Thank you!

Fantastic experience: My husband and I were visiting Bunbury for 2 weeks from Canada, well my husband was here on a work trip and I came along. I am so glad I decided to go on the Dolphin Eco-Cruise! We saw dolphins pretty much straight away, swimming close to the boat at times. It was a first for me and it was wonderful and amazing! Also, kudos to the Centre, employees and volunteers for their awesome job rescuing and helping marine animals. The Centre is a great place where we learn much about dolphins and other marine creatures.

Fantastic experience: We thoroughly enjoyed our dolphin discovery cruise from Bunbury. Although we were here in May when the dolphins are quieter our knowledgeable captain still found numerous pods of dolphins in the bay. His commentary was helpful. Overall it was a great trip.

Negative experience: Very disappointed for today's visit. We arrived at 2pm (1hr before close) got through fine to find all the staff inside sitting around chatting... walked through and asked what 1 of the species were to be told "I don't know, you should have come earlier because we are closing soon" (again... still an hr before close) continued wandering through as we had purchased an annual pass and weren't going to waste it... staff had their bags on their shoulders impatiently waiting to leave, went and checked out the 360 dolphin display, went to have a look at the film which had already been turned off, the interactive sand pit had been turned off as well as the VR interactive zone... quite disappointing and disheartening. We walked out at 2:45pm as nobody was willing to discuss and educate us or help us navigate anything. To be closing at 3pm on top of that experience shuts down the ability for children to get the interaction and education that isn't offered anywhere else. Will be trying 1 more time but if we have the same experience then we will not be renewing our annual family pass

Fantastic experience: Great place really friendly volenteers who were very knowlegable about the dolphins and their behaviour.

Positive experience: Honest review. It's a beautiful place, and the tour guides are extremely talented and passionate in what they do. But in my opinion, it wasn't worth $60 to see a couple dolphins when they could be easily seen from the shore. If the beach/bay had other geographical features or cool formations or if there were other animals to spot apart from just dolphins, it would've been worth it. But it is what it is! While the discovery Centre mini Aquarium was very small, I think the interactive features were quite cool and different, there were some fish I've never seen even in other, famous aquariums like sea life in sydney. This part was worth it in general compared to the cruise. But if you're looking for a proper Aquarium experience, it would be quite dissapointing (sealife is 2x the cost but the Aquarium/walk area is maybe 20x bigger). If you're looking to spend your money somewhere in bunbury, I would highly recommend bunbury wildlife park, its about the same price but you get to interact with the animals a lot more. All in all, I'm happy to know that the money goes back towards the conservation and research of our wildlife, and it was still a pleasant experience.

Fantastic experience: Had a fantastic time swimming with the dolphins out in the Indian Ocean today. Axel was a super host and taught us so much about the mammals! Seeing the dolphins was breathtaking and I 100% recommend going during the season!

Negative experience: Worth a visit as there is really not much else to do in Bunbury. A bit of a tourist trap id say, great for kids yes. But I can't get past how the 'rescued' sea life are living a better life in the tiny tanks. The turtles spent the entire feeding session banging into walls and trying to get away from the people 'feeding' them. The Octopus are in tiny boring boxes - for an intelligent animal these tanks looked incredibly depressing. They also refused to come out for feeding. You can't help but think this is because they are so under stimulated they are waiting to die. It seemed like a sad aquarium

Fantastic experience: Hubby and I did the dolphin eco cruise today and absolutely loved it. Staff (especially our tour guide Paul) were friendly and well organised so everything ran smoothly. The boat had plenty of space even though it was fully booked and entering from the beach was a fun way to begin. We didn’t have to go very far before we started seeing dolphins and they continued to appear throughout most of the cruise which was great. Will definitely recommend to others.

Fantastic experience: Definitely a must-visit when in Bunbury! Had a pleasant experience heading out to sea for the Dolphin tour — it was both relaxing and exciting. Very lucky to sight Dolphins swimming around the boat in their nature habitat. Disclaimer: remember to wear enough as the sea wind is really cold!

Fantastic experience: Despite not seeing any dolphins due to the ordinary weather, the family had a great time looking at the marine exhibits, most notably the main tank, the turtle tank and the octopus tank. We had no idea that octopus only live for up to a year to a year and a half. The cafe that adjoins the centre was also excellent and the staff who work there were great!!

Fantastic experience: A great spot to take the kids during the holidays. The bay adjacent is also perfect for a protected swim.

Positive experience: The Discovery Centre was an amazing space especially the track of rescued sea turtles. The large cylindrical dish tank was stunning toon but we were left concerned about the boring conditions for the fish in it, especially the larger species like Pink Snapper and Dhufish which seemed to have bruises from repeatedly bumping the side of the tank. The other smaller aquariums seemed better and less crowded. Overall a great place to learn about, and raise awareness for, local marine life.

Negative experience: The boat ride was good. Rocky road is actually a really wet cake and tastes disgusting as it has been cross contaminated with something garlicky

Positive experience: Seeing the dolphins on the beach was fantastic but the heritage centre is very small with a few aquariums. We were there literally 10 minutes. Wasn't worth the entrance fee. Thankyou for the reply and we are always willing to contribute to worthy charities and your work is commendable. Maybe we missed some things. The 360 degree cinema was a simple ai generated image of dolphins swimming around. The vr goggles showed similar game like images. Never saw a 2d cinema or 3d movie. Asked an attendant if that was it just past the vr section and was told yes. Aqua in Hillary's is just over $10 more for a massive venue of fish and aquariums. You do great work but thought the centre was over priced for what it had. Really just for kids. Upgraded rating due to the dolphin experience.

Fantastic experience: We are considering lucky to be there at the right time. On Internet people were saying about 9am. So we are early that day, found a nice parking spot with our motorhome, then stroll the beach at about 7+ in the morning. And we are surprised to see an early bird! I can't rmb her name, that was mentioned but they said its an rare site for early sighting. And after about 15mins, the dolphin swam away, and we went back our motorhome for breakfast. Till about 9am+ we start to see commotion, then we went back to the shoreline where the centre was, and yes we saw her again. First of all, all these experience is free, so don't worry about it. Only those going for swimming with dolphin then you need to pay,which is organised by them. Secondly, the dolphins will swim quite close to you,depending on your luck. As they swam beside us really very close like a hand reach away, while we are knee deep in seawater. Lastly! I would like to thank all the crew from DOLPHIN DISCOVERY CENTRE, for constantly looking out for dolphin and so caring these wild dolphin, which benefit us public and also these dolphin eco life! So hopefully you all are also as lucky as us when you are there (:

Positive experience: Kids enjoyed looking in the water tanks at all the fish. Loved watching the turtles and octopus being fed, and then we waited for the shark feeding, but unfortunately, the sharks didn't come out. Also, we were lucky to be on the beach when the dolphins came in and had a chance to stand in the water with them. For volunteers, they do a wonderful job.

Very fun experience boarding the boat from the beach. Dolphins also came up right to the shore near the centre! Would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Bunbury!

Positive experience: Unless you are going for the Dolphin eco-cruise, there is pretty much no dolphin to be seen. Only saw “dolphin’s food”, ie octopus (according to the staff ). The aquarium is just a small space which can be explored within 10 minutes. There are not much information on the sea creatures that are on display. Giving 3 stars as you can get to see the staff feeding the rescued turtles and octopus at certain timings. There is also an opportunity for you to touch the starfish if you request from the volunteer.

Fantastic experience: Full of different kinds of fish. Got to touch the starfish, which feels like rock surface. Didn’t go for the cruise because we have seen dolphins multiple times. There was fish feeding led by their staff and brief introduction about all the fish in the biggest tank in the centre. 360 view cinema of dolphins makes it as if you were in the ocean with them. Located next to a beautiful beach and a caravan park.

Fantastic experience: Today we explored the Bunbury WA Dolphin Discovery Centre. Well worth the visit, very interesting and lots of options for things to do and experience. After we finished we had a great tour around the waterfront Parkland in Dolly the Dolphinmoble, great fun and very informative guides. Highly recommended combining both for a lovely day in Bunbury WA

Positive experience: To be honest I learnt quite a bit that I didn't know and the volunteers do have a wealth of knowledge. The displays and educational area inside is great for the kids with learning stations available, they are great for the community and spreading the word on what we can do to protect the waterways, its missing that real wow factor that would probably make more of us actually talk about the experience. It didn't have a highlight.

Fantastic experience: We enjoyed a morning searching for and swimming with the dolphins. Yvette, our leader, emphasised dolphins are wild. It was amazing when we were all in the water, and they lazed around close by us, living their dolphins' lives.

Fantastic experience: We recently did the swim with dolphins tour. The day we were supposed to go our car would not start and we were not able to get there on time. The staff were so kind to move our booking to another day for us. When we went on the tour our guide was so knowledgeable and shared lots of information about the dolphins. She was determined to find the dolphins and get us the opportunity to swim with them! Although the dolphins didn’t come too close to us when swimming, we still got to be in the water with them and see so many dolphins.

Fantastic experience: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Dolphin Discovery Eco Tour – An Unforgettable Experience! Our experience with Dolphin Discovery Eco Tour was absolutely incredible! Seeing dolphins up close in their natural habitat was truly magical. The staff were amazing—knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about marine life, making the tour even more special. If you’re looking for an unforgettable adventure on the water, this is it! Highly recommend!

Negative experience: Food was basic but alright, staff were helpful, the discovery exhibit was expensive and a lot of the animals looked depressed or engaged in stereotypies (distressed, repetitive movements designed to alleviate stress and boredom).

Fantastic experience: We visited the Dolphin Discovery Centre for their 12 o’clock Eco Cruise on a sunny 30°c Monday in February 2025. The tickets were $65 per adult for the 90 minute cruise. The boat arrived back from the previous cruise and we were quickly boarding and were away. I believe the tour has a capacity of 28 but there were only 15 of us on our tour. Tash was our skipper and she was a ray of sunshine throughout. She was friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. She was happy to answer questions and I felt like we were in safe hands. Almost as soon as we left the beach we started to spot dolphins and this continued for pretty much the entire 90 minutes. The bay was busy with dolphins the entire duration of our cruise, and they were totally unfazed by the boat, and were happy to approach and check us out. Tash said the dolphins quite like to shelter under the boat for some shade sometimes when it’s really hot. We all loved our cruise. The boat was pretty comfortable and we were allowed to walk around as much as we wanted once the boat was off the beach. The tickets cost $65 and I considered this to be exceptional value for money. Our experience on the cruise was incredible. To see so many wild dolphins in one place is really special and I can’t recommend it highly enough. Tash was a brilliant guide, you can tell she loves her job. The cruise tickets include an offer for 50% off tickets into the exhibition in the Dolphin Discovery Centre itself, which we took advantage of. We watched the fish in the main aquarium tank being fed by Kim, who was also friendly, engaging and informative. The exhibition is varied and interesting, I enjoyed seeing the range of fish and others in the tanks. The centre has a nice souvenir shop and a cafe. We bought a couple of items to take away which we enjoyed, the food we saw being served looked excellent. If you’re visiting this part of WA, I highly recommend a trip to Bunbury’s Dolphin Discovery Centre, and particularly the 90 minute Eco Cruise, it’s excellent all round.

Negative experience: We booked the 'swimming with the dolphins tour' for 220 AUD each, but swimming with the dolphins wasn't possible because they weren't interested in us. Ok, that's nature and can happen. They offered to go again on another day but the next available day didn't fit in our trip itinerary any more, so the only thing they offered is a voucher for another tour what is the same as nothing if you are not an Australian resident. So we paid 220 AUD each for the experience of the 45 AUD dolphin watch tour. No (partly) refund as said in a former review here on google. So a huge amount of wasted money for the three of us. Furthermore when we were at the beach with our wetsuits before getting on the boat, one dolphin came very close to the beach, but when we all wanted to have a look we were called back, so they could take a picture of the group instead of letting us enjoying the dolphin so close. All in all definetely not worth the money and I don't recommend the swimming tour, because there are several reasons for not beeing able in the water with the dolphins.

Fantastic experience: I cannot speak highly enough about this place. We spent Sunday going through the discovery centre and then Monday 2 of us went on a dolphin swim tour. Unfortunately the weather was not kind to us and we had to rebook for another day. Even though our tour was not favourable Axel and the volunteers did everything in his power to make it a great trip for us, we saw some amazing dolphin jumps and saw them very close to the boat. Friday was our second attempt at swimming with the dolphins and Yvette outdid herself. We got in the water 3 times to swim with them and although the dolphins weren't super cooperative we still had some amazing experiences of them within arms reach swimming around us. She went out if her way to give my daughter her turn of spotting the dolphins and even got the whole boat to sing her happy birthday. It was such beautiful memories for us both that we will treasure for a lifetime! Thank you to all the team and especially the volunteers who help make everything possible!

Fantastic experience: Amazing place, staff were so accommodating. Wendy, the supervisor went above and beyond to help us during our visit. Jenny was so helpful and Axel made us feel so welcome. All the volunteers and staff couldn’t help enough to make our visit worth while. We used the beach wheelchair which was so easy to get into the water. The facilities were very accessible with showers and toilets for use. The cafe food was lovely with fresh salads, pumpkin frittatas and great coffee. Thanks so much for a beautiful day, all staff should be commended.

Fantastic experience: We went 30 mins before closing time and you need at least 1 hrs there so me got a discount. Don't buy anything from the gift shop

Fantastic experience: What a wonderful experience from start to finish. I took my wife here for her birthday and it was sensational, from the cafe to the brilliant volunteers including Kim who was very knowledgeable and friendly. To Jess our wonderful skipper who was very passionate and informative on our journey. And of course the dolphins what a site! Then on our return we went into the aquarium section and that was amazing too, will definitely be bringing the kids here on our next visit. Thank you to all for making my wife’s birthday one to remember

Fantastic experience: Looooved their dolphin swim tour!! Was able to see so many dolphins both above water and underwater. Such lovely tour guide and staffs. The talk from the guide was truly educational and passionate, thanks Evette!!

Fantastic experience: Nice friendly staff, lots of information and multimedia displays, turtle rehabilitation, an octopus, plenty of live exhibits of fish, corals and other marine life, and a decent chance of seeing wild dolphins. What more could you want?

Fantastic experience: Amazing experience on the water, we saw so many dolphins and the guide was very knowledgable. My only suggestion would be a microphone for the guide as depending on where you were, you couldn’t always hear everything he said. The trip was organised well and a great experience by all!

Negative experience: Don't go with little kids. Unless they are really interested in sea life. We topped their exhibits in minutes, and the "reading time" and doco out the back doesn't count when the toddlers won't sit still. For the price, not worth the walk through.

Fantastic experience: We as Grandparents took a 2 1/2 yr old & we found the interaction with the Volunteer Staff just so informative for over 1.5hrs!! + you can drop your bottle top lids off there to be re- cycled by Margaret River Plastics + purchase there products, which last forever!

Fantastic experience: Did the Dolphin cruise with 6 year old granddaughter. Lots of Dolphins and relatively calm ocean. Small numbers onboard so no problems with seeing the dolphins in their natural habitat. Skipper Jess was fabulous and answered all our questions - even those from a highly inquisitive 6 year old. Would recommend.

Fantastic experience: A wonderful way to see the dolphins and learn more about this amazing animal. Make sure to allow the time to also go into the Dolphin Discovery Centre.
