The Aquatarium at Tall Ships Landing

Fantastic experience: We had a great time at the Aquatarium today! The kids had a blast, and the staff were all incredibly kind and helpful. The highlight for us was the rope course—so much fun! A special shoutout to Lola and Adrianna, who were absolutely amazing. They were so patient, encouraging, and made us all feel safe and supported (especially this very scared mom). Thank you for making our visit so memorable!

Fantastic experience: It was so great, I almost want to gatekeep this little adventure spot! Visited with 4 and 1.5 year old kids. We went for the otters, and also loved the interactive water tables, Port of Johnstown exhibit, touch tank, animated sandbox, aquariums, and amazing staff. Before we'd even left, we were talking about getting membership to visit on repeat! Looking forward to visiting when the kids are older too so that they can enjoy the ropes course, green screen newsroom etc.

Negative experience: Such a rip off! $27 to see fish you catch in our lakes. Very small area for the price. Very disappointed.

Fantastic experience: Excellent place very nice Aquarium. The highlight was watching them feed. The lake otters. It's a must see if you're in Brockville.

Positive experience: Place is cool but parking is complicated and it is kind of expensive would be nice if there was more workers around to help educate you on things but they do have a touch tank and it is kid friendly for 2 years cool pirate shit to play on but the pirate jump you have to book in a group and ahead of time you can’t just go and jump which kinda sucks and you have to be a group of 6 or more you can just do it yourself it’s a bit disappointing but they have a water section for your kids to play at it’s a nice little break good day outing probably hour or two and you will explore everything generously lots of river fish the otters are cool

Fantastic experience: Very nice place for kids. Very interactive and lots of things to see for everyone. I personally love the otters and the beaver! There is also a free ropes course within the building. If you have little kids, an adult should be with them since they can't attach themselves by themselves. Make sure you aren't afraid of heights! The planetarium was also great and interesting for older age groups.

Fantastic experience: What a wonderful place to spend the day with your family! I was not sure if my 2 teens would enjoy this because we thought we had past the interactive play in museum, but there was close encounter with animals, fun learning about electricity produce by water and obstacles course with ropes and harness plus a drop of 35 feet included with entrance fee. Even my husband and I appreciated the adventure. Definitely a place to revisit.

Positive experience: It's not worth the money as there are only a few exhibits and not much to do and see. Our kids loved the Otter feeding and rope course but except that there is literally nothing interesting. Definitely not worth the money and time.

Fantastic experience: This place is magical! ✨ If you have kids or just need someone to spend the day I highly recommend the Aquatarium. There is something to do for everyone, all ages. There's also a restaurant and cafe so you don't have to worry about leaving to get something to eat or to enjoy a cup of coffee or a latte. The staff is so friendly and helpful, you can tell they really enjoy their jobs. I would definitely suggest visiting during March break because they have mermaids swimming in the tanks. It does get quite busy over the break but if you visit in the morning or late afternoon you can beat the crowd. The mermaids are definitely worth stopping in to see. This place is educational without being boring.

Negative experience: The worst experience ever... Drove 1.5 hours just to learn that no strollers are allowed inside. I can't physically carry a 12.5 kg 13 month old who can't walk yet. So yeah, quite miserable experience with no fun for everyone. Not coming back

Fantastic experience: We just spent the morning there for the mermaids! It was wonderful with many things to do. I was very impressed with the amount of Mermaids who made the effort to speak French with my kiddos! It's not every day this can happen!

Positive experience: Visited on a blustery, cold day in January! The staff were great in here and there were fun activities (even entertaining for the big "kids") alongside a neat Otter enclosure and Gar tank. The Beaver is in a very sad enclosure that seems way too small and boring; I saw older reviews also mentioning this and was hoping it had been improved. It has not. Only other con would be that there didn't seem to be a lot of information to read on the walls. The planetarium is interesting! Worth a trip, great winter activity but please give that beaver a nicer place to live or rehome him!

Fantastic experience: The Brockville Aquatarium is an interesting place. As you would expect, there are plenty of things for young kids to enjoy, but many cool things for adults as well. The display of fresh water fish is great. There are some pretty big sturgeons in there. Kids can get in underneath the fish aquarium and stick their heads up through a little dome so it's like they're in there with the fish. They have a large exhibit with river otters, a beaver named, Justin Beaver, and plenty of other interesting exhibits. A recommended stop

Fantastic experience: The staff were very friendly, helpful and passionate about what they do. They shared lots of information about each exhibit and answered all of our questions. They took extra time with our 3 year old daughter at the tidal touch area were she was able to touch a star fish. The exhibits were very clean and the animals well take care of. We left with new knowledge of North American eco-systems and great family memories. We highly recommend the Aquarium to anyone looking to learn and have fun while doing so!

Fantastic experience: I'm very impressed with this place. It's a great way to spend time with the kids and there are lots of fun activities both for physical play, like a pirate ship indoor playground and also cerebral play like understanding water currents or looking at the animals. But what I was most impressed with was the folks who worked there. They were endlessly kind, thoughtful and considerate. They spend hours helping kids understand the exhibits and feel comfortable to engage with the animals at the hands on exhibits, where kids can touch Star fish and crabs and other interesting creatures. On the way home both my kids said they had "the most fun" completely unprompted. Total win.

Fantastic experience: My 2 year old had a great time, she specially enjoyed watching otters and touching shell crabs. It was her first time visiting an aquarium and was definitely worth the drive from Ottawa for us! Thank you for a fun experience!

Fantastic experience: We came into town from Ottawa and had a wonderful experience:) the exhibitions are nice, the partial ships inside are a neat addition and the beaver and Otter enclosures are very well kept and clean. The staff are very nice and helpful :)

Fantastic experience: Great place for a birthday party for your Littles! We had an employee help us out whenever needed and attached to our party group, which made for smooth transitions and a worry free event.

Negative experience: It's an awesome place.... for kids. I have visited many great aquariums, and this isn't one of them. We were done in 30 minutes! Only fun attraction there is the otters.

Fantastic experience: We went today with two kids, 2 and 4 and everyone had fun. So interactive. The perfect mix of a play place (lots of interactive play) and aquarium (fish, snails, turtles, crabs, otters.. etc..) We enjoyed the tunnels as well. 10/10 staff very friendly and welcoming!

Fantastic experience: This is just for the train. AMAZING! The driver was kind, helpful and everything was really educational. My son, who is 6, was listening to her every word and threw in some of his “CHOO CHOO”s! At the end of it, he thanked the driver and said “That was the BEST EVER!” I agree!

Positive experience: Wonderful place. Amazing activities. My son love going to this place every now and then. It becomes to crowdy at time (specially during events) and is a little bit expensive.

Positive experience: we came as a group of adults after a weekend of camping nearby. We saw the reviews and imagined most was for kids, so we were coming mainly to see the beaver and otters. However, the beaver was asleep in a (sad and tiny) enclosure and the otters were nowhere to be seen. Instead we had fun with the kids attractions and climbed around the pirate ship. We were mesmerized by the colouring that ended up on the screen and enjoyed the rowing. We ended the day by discovering the FREE ropes course!!! this was the highlight and was so unexpected. It needs to be advertised better because it’s really the top attraction for adults here and is well worth the admission price. It would be nice if there were separate times for adults vs kids on the course for safety, but otherwise it was fun! Took off a star as I felt bad for the beaver and hope he gets much more space in the future. He did not seem happy at all

Fantastic experience: This site is also definitely unique and very well designed for such a small space. It is very historical and laid out in a historical layout of 1,000 islands, Brockville, Kingston, Ottawa development along the St. Lawrence River. There is a historical section that tells you about some early designs of wooden boats as well. But overall, I was really impressed with how the layout of the aquarium was designed. It also has a few interactive sections in it, a touch starfish little section, and the history behind why they have a salt water exhibit. Even in its small space, they included interactive sections for kids as well.

Fantastic experience: The Aquatarium is a perfect place to visit with grandchildren. There are so many interactive and interesting exhibits. The staff and volunteers are approachable and friendly. The highlight of today’s visit was the Rope Course. Many thanks to the staff who helped there.

Fantastic experience: It was a nice experience for a curious adult that learned and enjoyed the excitement of the kids. The staff were amazingly supportive and friendly. I am impressed by their commitment and grateful for their hospitality.

Positive experience: Seems like a good place for kids under 10. Went on a Sunday afternoon and wasn’t too busy. Buy tickets in advance, public parking lots nearby. My 12 year’s favourite part was the grain processing activities in the gift shop so I could have saved $. The cost is a little high I think considering the size of it, some things were lacking signs/information (like the glowing sand with the Dino lights), we were worried about the beaver so maybe info on that enclosure might be nice so people learn if it’s appropriate for it etc.

Positive experience: While I will say this was a great visit and there was lots of cool enrichment activities, it's a little pricey for what you can actually experience. It's geared for kids under 8, yet you pay more for the older admissions. While I can only imagine the costs associated with this cool experience, it was a bit disappointing given the cost.

Positive experience: Only a couple of live animals and fish. Not very exciting for any except children. They have a large "climbing" section or play area for kids. Takes up most of the exhibit area. Would not recommend this place for adults/seniors without children present.

Fantastic experience: We visited the aquatarium in May and it was a fun and interactive experience, particularly for my 3 year old son who had a great time in there! The cute little town of Brockville around the aquatarium was also very impressive.

Fantastic experience: Booked a private behind the scenes tour with my family to meet the otters. The staff was happy and fun to hang out with. The tour was better than I thought it was going to be. Had a family memory that I don't think any of us will forget. Thank you to all the staff seen on the floor and all that are not.

Fantastic experience: My husband and I went for the first time today. The staff were incredibly helpful, polite and positive. Any questions we had, they were answered. The staff seem very knowledgeable about the animals, and exhibits. It was the perfect outing for us and we can’t wait to go again!!

Negative experience: There is a sea otter enclosure and a small beaver enclosure where you can get close to the beaver. These are the best features of this place for adults. This place is very catered towards young children, and acts more of a playground with some educational features. If you don’t have children, I don’t recommend coming. Most interactive activities we tried were broken. Even at a discount, it felt pricey for what you get.

Fantastic experience: We had such a great afternoon at the aquatarium. Seeing the otter playing and watching Justin Beaver move sticks around were definite highlights along with the great staff interactions we had. In particular the staff on the Ropes Course and the staff at the touch tanks were especially fantastic and went out of their way to make our day super awesome.

Fantastic experience: A wonderful place to visit! Though it may seem small at first, it is packed with a variety of activities. From an obstacle rope course and green screen filming to interactive water and sand play, and various fish exhibits, there's something for everyone. It is definitely worth a stop—we enjoyed it so much that we stayed until closing.

Fantastic experience: Great place for the kids. 3, 5 8 and 10 all had fun. Spent a ton of time in the gift shop sorting balls then up to the 3rd floor where they loved touching the crabs and starfish. Very nice to see the animals and water/sand play can't be beat. Perfect family outing for a rainy day.

Fantastic experience: I can't even emphasize how much fun my kids had here (3, 5, 6). Normally we average about 2-3 hours for a museum but we were here 1030am-4pm and the kids were having a blast till the last minute. We came during pirate weekend and it was jovial without being overwhelmingly busy. The staff went above and beyond the entire time and they genuinely seemed to love being there. I drove an hour to get there and already planning my next trip back!

Fantastic experience: My son (adult) and I came out to check out the Aquatarium's Pirates! event. We has so much fun with the Pirate-ology 101 and Sea Shanty Sing along. However, we also enjoyed checking out the various reptiles/aquariums along with the beaver and river otters. There was a wide variety of hands on activities that allowed for learning more about the local marine environment and the animals that inhabit it. Very enjoyable day out in historic Brockville. We are already planning on a return trip to cover some of the things we missed and revisit some of the activities we loved. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: We visited during the “pirate” event and had such an awesome time. We sang sea shanties in the theatre, dressed up like pirates for a photo, and two of us had our faces painted. Every staff member we encountered was friendly, engaging, and helpful. We can’t wait to go back!

Fantastic experience: We took an 8 and 10 year old on our first visit there. They enjoyed the whole experience - we planned for 1 hour and stayed 3! Nice range of activities and all subjects are about Ontario.

Negative experience: While the aquatarium seemed liked it would have been fun but when we were paying for our tickets the lady at the front desk told us that the ropes course was included in the admission while our kids were right there. They were over the moon excited but what the lady failed to tell us was that the course was booked for the rest of the afternoon. Not surprisingly our kids burst into tears and completely ruined the rest of the afternoon so it was definitely a waste of $100

Positive experience: Our 3 year old little one loved this place so much, everything is hands on for kids. She could have spent an hour in the gift shop alone with all the interactive vacuum tube truck and balls. Just please vacuum/ replace the carpet in the tiny crawl pathways to the glass domes in the fish tank. Was so dirty and filthy like it hadn’t been cleaned in years.

Fantastic experience: Interesting exhibits, great locale. Since our last visit they have added new exhibits and activities. Very engaging for everyone. Great for families with young children. Staff are enthusiastic and knowledgable.

Positive experience: Visited on a Saturday during afternoon. Easy parking. Paid $2/hour. Easy entry to the building through the parking lot. Take Elevator to the 1st floor where you can buy tickets. Same floor has amazing game set up for kids plus the gift shop and a small aquarium. Main aquarium on 3rd floor. Kids can even touch animals like crabs, urchins etc with the help of staff. Multiple activity oriented fun games on the same floor to keep kids busy. I like the sand pit and flowing water slides. The pirate ship set-up is cool. We were able to catch the Beaver show while the otter show had to be cancelled as otters were not waking up from their sleep. They don’t force animals which I liked. The planetarium is located on the 4th floor. Wasn’t for us. Overhead projector set up in a single hall. Overall 4 star. Paid $23+tax per adult.

Fantastic experience: My son (4 years old) has such a blast at these camps. Today's PA day camp he made a boat and learned about objects floating and sinking. He came home exhausted and gave 5 big thumbs up for his day!

Fantastic experience: We went for the may long weekend as there wasn’t much open or happening in the city. Our 9 year old loved it, there was lots of interactive things for her to enjoy. We fell in love with Justin Beaver and the Otters. The enrichments were so cool to see! Definitely recommend for a fun day out!

Fantastic experience: Brought three tweens in today and am happy to say each one had a great time! I was worried they would be bored but they had so much fun we stayed two hours, went for lunch and went back for two more. So much to try and so much to learn. Thanks for a great visit!

Fantastic experience: This was a fun place to visit with the family and the adults enjoyed it as well. Admission price was reasonable and we had two adults and a 14 year old girl and an 11 year old boy. I would say a lot of the interactive things are for kids 4-10 but there was still enough for our kids to have fun with. The adults favourite exhibits were the otter habit and the beaver ( the beaver needs a larger enclosure). We all enjoyed learning about the local history of the lakes and the aquaculture and the fish tanks were fantastic. They also had some reptiles and amphibians. They went to a lot of effort in various areas to resemble ships and it was very interesting to see the themes. They also had a good little gift shop with various toys at reasonable prices. We're very happy we visited.

Fantastic experience: We celebrated my son’s birthday at the Aquatarium and it was a huge hit! The kids had so much blast and were absolutely mesmerized by everything. Even the adults were having fun and learning so much. The room was beautiful and very big with a whole wall facing outside with a water view, I wasn’t sure what to expect since I hadn’t seen pictures but it’s a sailor decor room which goes perfectly with the building! The staff was incredibly kind and very fast at replying through email or accommodating us in person as well. By far the kindest staff I’ve ever seen! Overall I HIGHLY recommend it for a child/baby’s birthday!

Fantastic experience: Went on a rainy Friday and somehow had the place to ourselves. Took our 6 and 9 year Old children. We’ve been to many aquariums from coast to coast and this one is really well done. Lots of interactive/hands on exhibits. Feeding times and information sessions. Sand table, water table, kinetic sand table, slide, touch tank, rowing machine and many other activities that will keep the kids interested. We spent 3 hours here and they didn’t want to leave. Love that most of the creatures are rescue creatures as well. Staff were friendly and informative. We had a very fun and educational experience here. Highly recommend!

Positive experience: A very nice family stop to break up a boring trip along Hwy 401. My 11 year old enjoyed all the live feeding demonstrations, especially the beaver and otters. Just the right size, with a mix of interactive play. The only disappointment was that she could not do the rope parcours because of lack of staff. Will return.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic time at the Mermaids of March event this year. We’ve gone in last years, but this one seemed to manage the crowds much better and allow everyone to see and try everything. Our daughter can’t wait to go back!

Positive experience: It was fun but we were a little confused about the shows (theres no swim "show"). You're told you only get an hour and a half which I wish we had known before we paid for parking. My daughter loved the exhibits and the mermaids were all very friendly. Gift shop is decent but not expensive which was great. I loved mermaid Sofies singing voice. I could listen to that all day ❤️ Overall great fun but it can get quite crowded (hence the time limit).

Fantastic experience: This was an amazing interactive day spent with our granddaughter! She absolutely loved everything especially being able to sit and take pictures with the mermaids, she made it her mission to find as many as she could She learned things in the show they had put on for the kids, she got to read/dance with one and watched some of them swim in the water. Also she loved touching a real starfish and taking pictures of the many other living creatures this place had to offer!!! A definite 10/10

Fantastic experience: We had a magical day experiencing the mermaids. Incredibly well done and all the staff were fantastic. We drove 3 hours for this and will absolutely do it again, our girls had their minds blown. Thank you to all the staff, volunteers and donors who made this a reality and bringing some magic to the surface for us.

Fantastic experience: I took 3 grandchildren to the Mermaid event yesterday and it was fabulous. It was well organized with numerous activities. Every single one of the employees/volunteers were enthusiastic, helpful, energetic, entertaining and patient. I highly recommend taking young children here. I think it's best for children under the age of 12.

Positive experience: We had a great time at the Aquatarium during mermaid week! My kids love It was very busy. The format had changed a bit from last year. The added mermaid market was a bit frustrating as parents already have enough financial demands without impulse buys built into the middle of the experience. It was very busy, even with timed entry it was almost a 30 minute wait to get in. We stayed 2 hours.

Fantastic experience: We attended Mermaids and loved it! The staff were friendly and helpful, the Mer-people were engaging and inclusive. The interactive activities were interesting. Past years' reviews said it was a bit disorganized , but they appear to have corrected those issues. Our 4yr old did not want to leave! The kids want to come back for Pirates. Only question is: why is the beaver tank so small??

Fantastic experience: Amazing experience at the Mermaids of March. Staff was so friendly and informative. Mermaids were absolutely amazing, our 5 year olds were blown away. Makeup artists were so talented. I would highly recommend even on non mermaid days. The exhibits are extremely interactive and I would take the kids again!

Fantastic experience: We bought tickets on line for 3 adults and 3 children $153 I was very impressed with the Mermaid show as well as the whole experience. My grandchildren are 8, 6, 4. They older boys were entertained for hours. Youngest grandchild is a girl and was thrilled. The staff are amazing!! The man that greeted us was phenomenal kudos to you kind sir:)

Fantastic experience: First time visiting the Aquaterium with my toddler and baby, and had a wonderful time! It was incredibly busy as it was opening weekend for the mermaids but the staff didn't bat an eyelash and even helped me wrangle my toddler from running off too far! The mermaid story times and swim were so much fun and we loved seeing the aquatic life, especially the hermit crabs. We spent a long time playing at the interactive sandtable too. We will definitely come back again.

Fantastic experience: We had a pretty amazing experience thanks to Corey Stitt. Note to self and to others. Buy tickets online ahead of time, and plan your trip. As well as be prepared to be separated from your kids for like two areas. I don't mean it in a bad way I just mean there is tunnels and stuff for them to see fish closer and to get onto the ship/slide, my son always has a great time here, but if you would like a less busy scene go after March break.

Fantastic experience: Visited with my children and was very pleasantly impressed! The mermaids and staff were all in character! The tales were so beautiful and their swimming is such an amazing and hard skill! Loved seeing their swim in the water and interact with children. It was a little bit small, would have liked to see more swimming mermaids, but they did have quite a few interact with people on land like reading books and hanging out by the rocks which was also nice. Had a lot of activities for the children so overrall it was fantastic !!

Fantastic experience: The Mermaid experience was absolutely beautiful. It was a great family outing. The mermaids/mermen were beautiful, and it was nice to be part of that fantasy world for a couple of hours. The staff were great too, very prepared for all questions. On a side note, I really loved seeing Justin Beaver.

Negative experience: Are you planning to see the MERMAIDS show this March? Think again because this is mostly a MERMEN show. Your little ones might be very disappointed to see “mermaids” with chest hair and beards. We purchased our tickets over a month ago and drove over an hour to do a family activity and unfortunately, it was a waste of time and money.

Fantastic experience: Super fun kids loved it! Worth the 5hr drive from Listowel Hubby and I think it was better than Riley’s. More affordable and more to do.

Fantastic experience: Great experience! Great staff. Lots to see and do. The mermaid exhibit was awesome. We will definitely be retuning next year!
