Fjord Museum

Fantastic experience: A bit small, but super informative and had lots of cool explanations on the fjord and the various marine life in the fjord. The video presentation was super cool and available in english as well as french. Overall was super impressed with the museum and the staff!

Positive experience: Great museum, it will take 1-2 hours to cover all the exhibits and watch interactive movie. The gift shop has lots of local souvenirs. Beautifully situated on the waterfront.

Positive experience: Nice break if you want to do something indoors. A little underwhelming. I was expecting to see a lot more local historic "artifacts", like the Adirondack Museum in New York.

Negative experience: Probably interesting for kids, boring for adults. Very small museum. Mostly reading of history/facts, not many exhibits. The aquarium was small, only a couple of fish on 1 wall. The movie seemed like it was supposed to be 4D, but it was in 2D and quite long. Overall waste of time and money.

Positive experience: Nice little museum where you can learn about the geography and history of the fjord. The introductory movie was well made but not very informative. You can then learn about the fish living in the fjord. Even though they are technically not living there, I was expecting some information about whales. The section about the pioneers and the early development of the area was interesting.

Positive experience: Very much worth the visit. Was wondering if 3 adults would find this small museum interesting or if it was just for kids.... and we certainly found that it was. The aquarium wall was fascinating and the staff at the touch tank shared so many interesting facts about the various critters - we learned so much. The video presentation was both informative and enjoyable. The history of the people of the region was also fascinating. Connecting to the recreation path and the harbour area was great too - love La Baie!

Fantastic experience: Great museum. This is a real gem. The aquarium exhibit is interactive and the staff are super knowledgeable. The history of the area exhibit was interesting and really easy to be read and understand. The pictures were perfect. They had a temporary exhibit about ugly animals that was fun to walk trough. The highlight was the movie about the history of the fjord. I thought of skipping it because we were there late in the day but it was super fun and informative. The bathrooms were clean and the staff was friendly.

Negative experience: This was interesting but not really worth the stop. 18 min movie will bore kids and most adults. The “aquarium” is a small touch pool and one wall of a few fish. Don’t come here and expect a full aquarium! I wouldn’t recommend

Positive experience: this place will take you about top 1 hours to see museum is not that big bur really interesting you can find a gift shop, toilet there is a small movies too watch take about 20 min to see it a great addition to the visit nice place to eat ouside witha picnic table and you can see the sagnuenay river

Positive experience: The "spaceship" presentation did not add to the historical presentation. Overall very interesting.

Fantastic experience: There was a enthusiastic presenter that made the experience worthwhile as well as a video presentation to explain how fjords are created. It would have been nice to have this presenter throughout the museum since we were fairly numerous.

Fantastic experience: It’s great that questions like how the fjord formed and why is the water in the river salty are answered after the visit. The history of the paper pulp and aluminum industry is also very interesting to see. Highly recommend to visit.

Fantastic experience: Excellent displays that cover three aspects of the region: the fjords and marine life, fauna of the area and the people of the region and their history. Lots of hands on and even a simulation of a trip through the fjords

Fantastic experience: What a gem! I have lived here for over a year and this was my first visit. My kids loved the aquarium and the touch tank was so interesting! The dinosaur exhibit was extraordinary. Even the film presentation was a unique adventure. The kids were not bored and they loved every minute. Staff is attentive and seem excited about their job. We will go back!

Negative experience: I am from Saguenay and I find this museum disappointing. It is way overpriced and the installations are dated. The short film looks like it’s from the 90’s and you get very little information. Overall I feel like it should be presented as a children’s museum.

Positive experience: This is a very small Museum that you can tackle in just over an hour. Great location right by the water. The have a small indoor pond where the kids can play with the animals (under supervision). Learn about the natural beauty that are the fjords of the Saguenay and Lac St. Jean region.

Fantastic experience: The women who explain and touch the starfish were very nice and interesting and the same in the room about the evolution of the Canadians. TKS everybody.

Negative experience: We had just one day in Saguenay and wanted to visit this small museum. They told us that they close in 45 minutes. We said no problem, we just want to get a short overview. The answer was that they don't let people in 60 minutes before closing. Frustrated and upset we left this unfriendly place.

Positive experience: Great museum with tons of attractions for kids. However, this museum is mainly oriented towards children and has very little living creatures
