Positive experience: I remember the days when this place had a submarine, not anymore. Take pictures here. Pay to sit on the boat to play boardgames. Control a RC boat. Get on a small floating boat. See some animals.

Todd 2 months ago

Negative experience: The attraction goes down two flights of stairs to a small corridor. There are about 8 snake and turtle tanks about the size of large fish tanks. Then you walk another 30 feet to see a few fish and signs saying under construction. The touch pool was closed but it’s about the size of two kitchen sinks. The penguin exhibit was about seven penguins in a room the size of a toilet stall standing around looking depressed. Glad I paid 54$ for that……

Negative experience: Very poor and very little to see a couple of tanks and that's it

Fantastic experience: The staff was great, and really interesting. Good for family, and I do highly recommend. The guy running the touch pool, was incredible.

Fantastic experience: I really Enjoy the show!

Fantastic experience: Good to shop; lots of entertainment for everyone, a casino if you like to gamble. There's a nice hotel inside the mall, a bowling alley, a hockey rink, a movie theater, an indoor wave pool, indoor golf for kids and adults, and lots of indoor rides. There are also food courts if you get hungry.

Gabrielle Cardin 3 months ago

Negative experience: I just feel bad for the animals locked up in a mall of all places...

Arshdeepsingh Mandeepkaur 3 months ago

Positive experience: Marine game awesome Beautiful place And the best thing is accessibility. You can get a free rental wheelchair within and it was a sturdy comfortable wheelchair.

Alice Poong 3 months ago

Positive experience: They must implement engaging and fun ideas to draw in more visitors. The limited space for wandering around makes the experience dull, and it's essential to enhance the attraction to keep people interested.

Fantastic experience: Super wet place. But I stayed dry so it's a pretty cool place. PS. I stayed warm though it was cool

Ditiksha Khatri 3 months ago

Negative experience: Want to givr minus (-5) stars. Big big disappointment not enough species and no fun at all. Just different types of turtles are there snakes are also hiding cannot see them properly Waste of time and money

Stefan Meiners 3 months ago

Negative experience: A relict from a long gone time. Shouldn’t be there anymore since by now everyone knows that this isn’t the best of places for animals.

Fantastic experience: We absolutely loved the seal show; my sons and I got front-row seats, and my older son got splashed, which he absolutely loved.

Ryan B. 3 months ago

Fantastic experience: These are Sea Lions. Not Seals. FYI. Fun show for the family.

Aunt Net 3 months ago

Fantastic experience: The seal show was great and to see the penguin was so cool. We didn't realize there was an aquarium or we would have gone thru it.

Sara Newitt 4 months ago

Fantastic experience: Amazing 6 granddaughters really liked the private. Meet and greet with Pita thank you for the wonderful memories

Victoria Mendoza 4 months ago

Negative experience: Apart from the show,The "aquarium" is not worth it at least now that I think they have most of the fish in quarantine, I felt very disappointed as my son.

Positive experience: It's fine. It's small since it's in a mall. The penguins are cute though

Precious Gauthier 4 months ago

Positive experience: It's was cool to see the sea lions, it's a bit hard to maneuver around people with the curves on the steps to get up there if it's busy. Not clear when shows start or where to take the boat rides.

Mandy Lamothe 5 months ago

Negative experience: Don't support this. It's awful

Alyssa 5 months ago

Positive experience: Good price, fun to sit in the aquarium for a bit it just wasn't super big. Don't need a lot of time here. We didn't buy tickets to the sea lion show but you can see it from different points around the mall and it looked good!

Fantastic experience: It was neat how we got the shark

mazstro 5 months ago

Fantastic experience: Been here a few times. Kids got to pet the sharks. Tons of cool stuff to see

Justin C 5 months ago

Positive experience: Good for an outing with children 2 to 5. Any older and there aren't enough exhibits to keep them going for longer than a half hour. If you can catch feeding time, it's alot more enjoyable.

Matt Holzman 5 months ago

Positive experience: Included in the price of the 2 day play pass, I was expecting a bit more aquarium and a lot less dungeon. I was really looking forward to seeing over 100 species of aquatic life, and maybe saw 15? We arrived at 10am, according to the online opening time, only to find that they didn't open until 11am. The Penguins looked like they were captives in a concentration camp, and the Sharks were all clustered together like the dead bodies on the cart from the Holy grail. My wife got to pet a Shark, and that was cool, but on a whole I wasn't all that impressed, and didn't feel much value in the attraction as included with the 2 day pass.

WESSLEY ANTONCHUK 5 months ago

Fantastic experience: We got the pet a shark. The kids like that they almost wanted to buy a snake which could be good or bad. It was pretty cool to see all the fishes

Negative experience: Sea Looks in Captive, need I say more? The remote control boats area of play too small.

Fantastic experience: Great show but get there early for best seats

Positive experience: The swan paddleboats are a fun campy experience for kids to go safely on their own. Two kids at a time can go for a total of $21/swan. They paddle around safely with life vests on as you watch from on top of the bridge above. Your kids will enjoy indepently paddling around and bumping into other swans. It is a 10 minute experience that has your kids laughing and exercising at the same time.

Samantha Vazquez Servin 6 months ago

Fantastic experience: The aquarium is very small, a couple of tanks, but they have 2 interactive ponds where you can touch a small shark. Animals overall look well taken care of. Definitely do not skip the sealions show is the best part.

Mr. E 7 months ago

Fantastic experience: Got to pet the penguins and get art from them. They have turtles and frogs and other cool creatures too. Kids had a great time.

Positive experience: Saw the sea lion show with a group of preschoolers. The kids were funny and entertaining.

Positive experience: Feel bad for the Penguins, they look sad. All the enclosures need some maintenance very dirty glass

Dr Edward J Gerety III 8 months ago

Positive experience: It's a cute show, and you can tell that the trainer loves and respects her animals. The loss of the one star was from them starting late.

Stephen Hesmert 8 months ago

Negative experience: Staff are extremely rude last show I went to i couldn't even hear them talk because 2 of the staff decided to have a loud conversation directly behind me

Sa Auset Tauwieret 8 months ago

Fantastic experience: Marine Life was a 3 hour class for 6-12 year olds where children got to explore sea creatures' habitats and behaviors. It ended with getting to see the sea lions privately.

Jason Trieu 8 months ago

Positive experience: Back in the days, they use to have dolphins shows. Now, only sea lions and one just recently passed. Entertainment value took a major drop.

Mike Newhook 8 months ago

Negative experience: Lame. Unkept and tank population is horrible. Tank is dirty and not worth the money

Positive experience: A wonderful location set inside the magnificent West Edmonton Mall. The site features amazing sights being home to a wide variety of fish, sea turtles, penguins, amphibians, and other aquatic life. There's a whole lot of activities for friends, family, lovebirds, and colleagues to try out like the sealing shows & the penguin meet and greet which are really fun and interesting. Ensure to book in advance for a seamless experience and check website for any changes.

Fantastic experience: My oldest (14) loves the Marine life cavern and every-time we are at WEM wants to go! So this year for their birthday we booked the birthday experience. It was considerably cheaper than many other experiences in the Edmonton area. It was fun to get a behind the scenes tour and see some of the animals that are not always out for the general public. It's nice to hear what their goals and purposes are like helping the African Penguin population which are quickly going extinct. We got to feed the sea turtles and that was probably the highlight, and our guide gave us great information about them, and all the animals we interacted with. They were also accommodating as we had a few from our party running late so our guide switched the order of the tour a bit (I think) to try to help them still be able to make the main tour. The only thing we wish we had more time for was time in the caverns and interacting with the pools, but that wasn't included at all. It would have been nice to have 15-30min after the tour to be able to be free in the caverns.

Positive experience: During the weekend it's CRAZY to try and get in. During the week it's morrow calm to go. It's a cool little experience for kids (small younger kids).it's not the cheapest either to go in. It's zoo prices for about 40 feet of zoo experience. They have a touch tank, some reptiles in small places, there is also the big aquarium you get to look at and a small penguin enclosure. There is an extra fee to watch the matine life show which I never went too before, just watched the show from the 2nd level in the mall.

Jason 10 months ago

Positive experience: Had a great time there with my in-laws. Jeff was our guide for the experience, and it was clear he took pride in the job. The birds were really well behaved, some pooping on benches aside. Just wish it was a little longer; a half hour for a 6-person group just isn't long enough.

Monica Bambrick 11 months ago

Fantastic experience: My children loved seeing the animals. Very cool experience we would definitely do again.

Brandon 11 months ago

Fantastic experience: Excellent place. The seal show is amazing. Nevermind the fact it's in west edmonton mall. You will have lots to do, a good time at the seal show, and enjoy the aquarium. Not to far from this place is the movie theatre, food court, water park, mini golf, and various other things to do.

Danielle King 1 year ago

Positive experience: Small aquarium. Admission for adults is $13, honestly a little pricey for the experience. We explored inside for maybe 10 minutes and came back for the sea turtle presentation, which was very underwhelming.

Fantastic experience: Amazing experience with Gareth during the penguin meet and greet! He was helpful and smart and told us everything about the penguins... plus they were adorable. Thanks Gareth!

Jay Berggren 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: Finally made the visit here after putting it off for a while! It's a smaller aquarium but has a TON to see! I don't want to spoil any of the exhibits, but it was really lovely. The handler for the touch tanks was especially awesome- they really seemed to love their job and knew a ton about the critters in the tanks! All in all it was a great experience, and a really reasonable price for what you got to see and experience!

Abbey Crawley 1 year ago

Negative experience: Absolutely HORRIFIED with the situation that happened to us today. Their door to enter and exit was shattered and sliced my boyfriend’s hand open. We went to the booth to ask the staff for medical or first aid and they told us to go to “customer service”shooed us away and didn’t even ask if he was ok.. as they didn’t have a first aid kit. Didn’t give us direction so we ran around for a minute… came back because his hand at this point was spewing blood..and said “you guys don’t have a first aid kit?”. To our surprise they really did! When we opened it we were even more shocked to find out it was expired in 2019! My mother in law is a nurse and said to the man pictured to the right “oh my god you cannot use this on anyone it’s expired”. If a 30 year old man can cut his hand this easily imagine what it could do to a small child. No sympathy no effort to help! Terrible customer service and staff all around. Will be finding a lawyer to handle this properly! DO NOT TAKE UR KIDS HERE!!!! WARNING! JUST AWFUL!

Positive experience: Review time !!! I came here with my daughter, it was an amazing experience. Never tried the swans rides before, but my daughter had been wanting to go on them for so long. It was $20 for 10 minutes which i felt was a ridiculous price to pay... and felt a bit robbed because even steering the swan was time-consuming, but Still was worth the experience and to see a smile on my daughters face. But wow, I wasn't feeling that price line. It probably will be my first and last experience but at least worth a try, I guess.

Melissa M 1 year ago

Positive experience: It was a good show. Short, I think forty-five minutes, but lots of information would go again. Cost about fifteen dollars, not too bad.

James C 1 year ago

Positive experience: While there are a lot of fun things to do at the West Edmonton Mall, this site is not among my favourites. I went twice because it was included in my two-day mall attractions pass. Without this pass, however, I would not have paid to go in. To be fair, there are some interesting exhibits/talks. (I saw a great presentation on a snake). That said, the space is quite small and is not as enjoyable as many other attractions at the mall.

Constance Bergen 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: It was the coolest thing ever!! We will definitely be going back!

Angela Getson-Hendricks 1 year ago

Positive experience: Last time we there, heat was cranked way up, to the point of uncomfortable... some of the exhibits were down and the overall feel was not as fun as in previous visits years ago..

Rach P 1 year ago

Positive experience: The entry fee is considerably high. The only interesting part was touching the starfish. But that's about it. There are few cages of reptiles like bull frog, ball python, turtle and 1 penguin tank, another tank with sharks and a few other fishes in it. Over all you spend about 10 mins.

Stephanie Baker 1 year ago

Negative experience: Great idea! BUT broke our hearts seeing the size of the enclosure the penguins are in as well sea turtle…they need bigger homes! Size of my tiny living room for a seaturtle to do laps over and over…and the penguins can’t even do a lap in there tiny home it’s so tiny! Do better for these creatures! There’s a whole ship that turtle can swim around just put pexiglass on top to protect him. Bring your frustration forward as that’s all we can do.

Positive experience: Mall was nice. Prices were high. Staff were average. Seemed unhappy at work and annoyed to be there. Was not very busy at all. Perhaps it was just an off day.

Fantastic experience: Love this place a must visit place for your toddler. Closes early as 4pm. So buy tickets online. $2 ship tour was fantastic and took lots of photo with my toddler. Enjoy!

Fantastic experience: It was a wonderful experience for my family harder than it looks.

Positive experience: Decent experience I would say. At $30 for a family of 3 including a toddler, there isn't much to see but it is still something I would do once.

Glenna Daisey 1 year ago

Positive experience: I'm not a fan of animals in captivity, however I know for their safety sometimes it's necessary. The staff are Awesome and friendly. I went with my son who chose this as a visit. The turtles and snakes and aquarium were all nice to see. Short but sweet little stop.

Natasha Levit 1 year ago

Positive experience: Pritty small, not really worth the price. There are turtles, snakes, fish and pinguins.

Eric Kim 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: I was just walking pass the pirate ship and they brought out a live penguin. That was pretty sick to see a small penguin walking around a mall.

Deranged (Artisticallyderanged) 1 year ago

Positive experience: Small and outdated. The staff are knowledgeable, but the exhibits are tired and tiny. Honestly anything more than a $2 admission is too much.

Anat Rabkin 1 year ago

Negative experience: Maybe it's great, but they have zero way to get my wheelchair down there, so I couldn't see it. The person at the ticket booth made zero effort to soften the blow of being denied entry and seemed to be impatient to leave

brock lawrence 1 year ago

Positive experience: It was fairly busy at noon on Sunday. It was fun to watch the trained seal but just from the free zone

Moon and the Moon Goddess 1 year ago

Positive experience: Neat place to visit, though it is relatively small.

Thuy Tran 1 year ago

Negative experience: You're paying $15 for a whole lot of nothing. The most interesting part was touching the starfish, anemones and sharks. But that's about it. There's a few cages of reptiles and 1 penguin tank, another tank with sharks and a few fish in it. Not to be PETA but the animals don't look like they're in a proper environment. You'd get 10 minutes out of it max. Not recommended.

Fantastic experience: Loved this place. Take your kids they will love this place lots good store to shop there.

ILyes Zerrouk 1 year ago

Negative experience: Very small, nothing interesting inside, just a few sharks and one turtle. Very dark. You can't see anything, one minute the whole place can be seen. $13 per person. Expensive, I do not recommend it.

Ihthisham Sadhar 1 year ago

Positive experience: Watched the Sea lion show with the family, Kids enjoyed it! it was really good, could have been a little more interactive specially to have the kids involved, The aquarium was also not bad for the size, had a decent set of species, its that it was just a little small compared to the other places we had visited.

Red 1 year ago

Positive experience: It seemed to keep my kid entertained and the staff seemed to enjoy thier jobs but $28 for 1 adult and 1 child... I think I'll save my money.

T M 1 year ago

Negative experience: $13/ ticket - we proceed downstairs and we think it's going to be recently sized. Nope, it literally takes minutes to see everything. Save your money. This should be free.

Jesse Goodstriker 1 year ago

Positive experience: My daughter loved it. You're able to interact and touch some of the sea creatures in two different pools. One is cold water and is filled with sea amenities, star fish, and clams. And the other pool is filled with a few mini tropical sharks that you're also able to touch. There also penguins, larger sharks, stingrays, lizards, snakes, and turtles a great place for children to learn and play.

Fantastic experience: Awesome b'day idea for 7 year old's party. Behind the scenes look at how they feed turtles plus tactile instructions where kids can touch turtles Sea cucumbers Starfish (now called sea stars) Urchin Had the cake on a pirate ship. Best afternoon for kids.

Positive experience: I’ve gone twice in the past few months. The first time I went, I had an amazing time. The lady working at the touch pools taught us a lot of interesting facts and talked with us for a while about the animals. I loved seeing the different animals but the touch pools were the highlight for me! I enjoyed it so much that I went again the next time I was in Edmonton. The second time I went was a disappointment. We went 20 minutes before closing so maybe that’s why the worker (different person) at the touch pools was so rude… We left before closing so I think it was unwarranted. She was stern when she told us how to touch the sea creatures, watched me like a hawk when I’d touch animals, and she made no effort to talk to visitors pleasantly. It is a small aquarium but it’s a fun experience that won’t break the bank or take all day to do.

Danica Reed 1 year ago

Positive experience: Very small aquarium, but still a good amount of neat creatures to see. Some hands-on experiences too.

Positive experience: Went on a field trip with my daughter here. The staff is knowledgeable and very educational. We got to see the animals and learn how they're taking care of. So many wonderful things to see behind the scenes. The kids had a lot of fun and learned a lot. Very wonderful job keeping 20 5-year-olds busy and contained for 3 hours. We got to feed the sea turtles lettuce. It was a wonderful day and we enjoyed ourselves. We had this booked as a private event through the school so no wait times.

Fantastic experience: 10/10 would recommend. Very educational and interactive. They have reptiles and marine life, and a supervised touch pool for invertebrates in the caverns. Great place for people of any age. They have penguins, sea turtles, sharks, and many more.

Fantastic experience: The aquarium’s are so so big and cool I was down here and I got to touch some of the creatures it almost felt very very wrong like illegal so I am planning on coming back to give the animals more respect the sea life * the lion shows om but they are not real lions .

Fantastic experience: I was invited to my friend’s 40th birthday and her wish was to meet and pet a penguin. That is a check off her bucket list. 6 of us met Tweeblik the African penguin. My friend’s partner made the arrangements with Marine Life about 2 months ahead of preferred date and time. The “meet the penguin” is one of the most popular attractions at Marine Life in West Edmonton Mall. The staff was fabulously awesome and provided us some education about penguins. As well as she provided clear instructions and expectations on the meeting with Tweeblik. Tip: bring good vibes and be willing to be close and/or touch a penguin. The selected* penguin would be more receptive to you. *Tweeblik was selected because of her good mood and she liked people. The staff looks out for those attributes before the meet and greet.

Rachel M 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: The best experience at WEM. Save your money and skip the other "attractions". I paid $187 for 4 of us to have a meet and greet with two penguins. One we interacted with more than the other but the whole experience was delightful. Even my older brother who didn't think he'd like it really enjoyed the experience. Fun for the whole family. I bought it as a grad gift for my nephew with autism who has loved penguins since he was little. Stacey engaged with him and really took an interest in what my nephew knew a d answered his questions. Totally worth it. Afterwards my brother went back to the hotel and I took my nephews and mom to the sea caverns and it just under $60. Again Totally worth it. Very interactive. Seriously out of all the WEM activities these two are the most memorable and would highly recommend .

Negative experience: I had some family visiting from Montreal. They wanted to see the underground aquarium. I think it was a bit of a let-down. 1) it was a pretty small aquarium. Not that many species. It took 5 mins to see everything. The price we paid should also include the Sea Lion show. 2) I was with 3 seniors that either had hip or knee issues, and the only way down or up was via 40-50 steep stairs. They were so tired/sore afterwards that they didn't want to see the rest of the mall. 3) the tank that had the sharks and sea turtles: not sure if the glass or water was dirty, but we couldn't see the species clearly. The visibility was so poor that my folks thought it wasn't real, and that it was old projector playing footage of the animals in a loop.

Fantastic experience: How is I been here years and only heard about this today? Amazing place for the family. Kid loved every minute of it.

Anna Kr 2 years ago

Positive experience: I have very mixed fellings about this place. Clearly there isn't enough space for the penguines. Place is small in general. There are two touch pools but I wasn't feeling good about touching stressed sharks. We saw some snakes and fish...and it was good for a 10minutes.

Maria Inthirath 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: If you haven't seen it up close, it's definitely worth it. We did it a couple of years back. As the trainers educate you on the seals. You can look at the top as that's what we did this time around, but we can't really hear anything throughout the mall is loud. It was fun watching the seals either way, the kids enjoyed it.

Green Deal 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: Seemed like they were sleepy from eating recently but the worker around 12pm was really a gem, really made the petting attraction fun. Props to her for working there.

Phil Brienesse 2 years ago

Negative experience: Really expensive for the size. This is probably the biggest ripoff in the mall and the enclosures for the animals are very small it’s clearly about the money. Don’t waste your money.
