Negative experience: BOUGHT 16 FISHES, 7 of them DIED within first week (and they were quarantine). I DON'T recommend. They're selling SICK fishes. > Everyday I wake up there's a new dead fish. I may lose the rest of them soon. I have been keeping 3 aquariums for 10 years, I'm very confident it wasn't my mistake.

Negative experience: The staff are super knowledgeable and helpful. I can’t say enough nice things about them. However of the eight neon tetras I bought there, seven died in leas than a week from what appeared to be whirling disease. I tested my water and am quite confident that my aquarium was not the problem. I would like to give them my business but am a bit worried about spending money on sick fish.

Negative experience: I really wanted to Iike this store as they have a great selection, but I had a disappointing experience this week. I have many years experience in keeping fish and have an established 200L community tank. My tank parameters are great and my other fish are thriving. Two days ago I purchased 2 electric blue rams and 8 cardinal tetras from this store. To be fair, there was a dead fish in the electric blue ram tank and I still chose to purchase them (that was a red flag that their water quality was off). They were placed in a temperature-controlled bag and transported carefully in a warm car (short drive) and then properly integrated into my tank with acclimatized to the tank temperature in the bag for 30 mins following proper protocol. The following day, the two electric blue rams had white spots all over their body, which I believe is Ick. I have never had this in my tank before so it had to come from the store (and no other fish in my tank have it). I am currently treating them and I hope they survive. The cardinal tetras have not fared well and within less than 48 hours 7/8 have died. All my other fish are perfectly fine and doing great. Even though the transport can be stressful, I have never had such a mass death following a fish purchase. These fish must not have been in great shape to begin with and the transport put them over the edge. I called the store to explain my situation, and they basically made me feel like it’s my fault. I am a scientist for a living and research animal biology and water quality so I know what I’m doing. Unfortunately, I won’t be purchasing my fish from this place again as there are clearly issues with their water quality and/or health of their fish and I’ve just wasted $70 of my money. Giving two stars as the person who served me was super helpful and I did find a lovely piece of driftwood. EDIT: I spoke with the manager, and he explained there was a problem with the tanks I bought my finish from. He apologised and offered me a $70 credit for the purchase price of the fish. Despite my initial experience explaining the issue over the phone, the management handled this very well and were very apologetic. I just used my credit in store and the person who served me also apologised for the incident and was very kind. I’m very happy with how it was handled and I would go back to this store!

Fantastic experience: Best fish store in MTL, don’t waste your time with the others. Staff here are so kind and very knowledgeable, I always enjoy the times I get to take a trip here, even if it’s just to look at their displays. Also I highly recommend the patisserie across the street for a sweet treat before or after!!

Fantastic experience: I like this place because they have a whole floor to showcase larger aquariums. It's a good place to buy your first aquarium. Helpful staff and knowledgeable. I buy fish and plants from them and they're always clean. They take good care of their water. I had a batch of glass fish that died once and they managed to replace them for me after testing my water. There is no guarantee but the owner was nice that one time. They are in this business for generations. In the Montreal area this place is in the top 3 if not the best place in Montreal.

Negative experience: Bought fish 2 times in 2 weeks both fish were sick ,and nothing was done about it , I have many well cycled tanks that have been set up for years with other calm species never had issuse first fish ended up killing other fish in the tank , shame on me for going back and getting 2 more and 1 was fine the other was in the bag laying on its side when in the car , my ride home was 30 min , acclimating the fish correctly and while in the breeder box acclimating it was still on its side called in the morning and was told there was nothing that can be done , also when I was there there were a few fish had wanted to buy and was told I wasn't able to cause of the tanks were sick , the fish I brought home is obviously sick as well and I just want to bring it back and get a plant( which is cheaper the the fish I paid for) cause I don't trust the water in their tanks currently , there customers service is very disappointing and I suggest people to go to aquarium du nord instead its only 5 min away from this establishment

Negative experience: Went here 2 weeks ago bought Cardinal Tetras, after 3 days they all died! Went back with water sample and they agreed to replace my fish after finding out the owner didn’t want the sales rep to replace my fish even if my water quality was good! Now two weeks later I completely lost my whole aquarium!!! All fish dead! Which I’ve had for years!! Only 2 Cory’s left and 2 of their miserable cardinal tetras! Waiting for owner Ronald to call me back! Lost over 100$ worth of fish in 2 weeks since originally getting 6 cardinal tetras there…I want an explanation!!!

We purchased 4 and the knowledge of the staff was superior from getting them well settled to keeping them well maintained. Recommend it! I come here to get nutrient pellets for the plants in my tank as well as snail companions for our Beta fish.

Fantastic experience: Aquarius is a stunning place specializing in all things aquariophilie. From neatness, maintenance of their tanks, fish, equipment, plants and tanks, they have it all. Knowledgeable and friendly staff is always floating around if you have any questions. All sections are neatly organized and information openly laid put for each fish and plants from what water parameters they need to the size of the aquarium needed for them. All their fish are healthy and guaranteed. Their showroom upstairs holds a selection of bigger aquariums from 5 gallons up to over 200 gallons. The website is neatly organized and has information on each fish as well as their sales. For all things dish related, I will be back as this store is amazing.

Fantastic experience: EDIT: The owner was nice enough to explain to me the situation and offered a full refund for the fish that were purchased. Terrible experience here. Went to get chili rasboras 3 times because they kept dying! Drip acclimated, and slowly introduced into an already established tank, yet they would still all slowly die in the following days. The third time I went, the batch of chilis was covered in ICH. It spread the disease to all other fish wiping them out. Disaster! After being a loyal customer for over 3 years, this is the final straw, I will never be going here again.

Positive experience: Great service and incredible selection of fish, tanks, decorations and pretty decent plant selection. In general the prices are very steep for most decorations, but tanks and fish are affordable. I'd recommend going elsewhere for decorations.

Negative experience: We went there last Sunday to buy a fish tank and some fish. We told the employee that was dealing with us that this was all new to us and we needed him to take the time and explain everything. As I was discussing with my husband about different options, the employee helping us looked annoyed and impatient and just wanted to make a sale. After choosing the tank, base, decor and fish it cost us 450$ ( which we were fine with ). The employee gave us horrible advice about the maintenance of the fish tank when first starting it out which resulted to our fish dying within 24hrs. Since then, I tried to call the store 3 TIMES and left 2 voicemails and still NO ONE has called me back. It’s really annoying that they don’t answer any calls and say to leave a message and someone will only call back if they had an account with them ( which we obviously have since we purchased with them and created the account ). I am so furious because after doing some research on the internet they all stated we needed a heater for the water, thermostat and PH tester to make sure the water is perfect for our fish - which the rep failed to mention. Wouldn’t recommend this store.

Fantastic experience: These are some people serious about their fish and their customers. I rarely write reviews, but I had to stop by and give some review. I went in on a Friday afternoon with a wish to get a small jar and 1 pet fish. I had a thoroughly educative introductory session about the world of fish and the care they need. The guy who worked with me left no stones unturned - he probably must have had this conversation with 100s of other customers, but yet, he took me through the same lessons and questions that others have had before me. I went in as someone who had very little confidence abt rearing fish - hence the small jar and 1 pet fish stand. However, i ended up buy 3 fishes and a moderate tank all within my budget. Here I am two weeks later - the tank still stands and my fish has all survived ( i am also someone who is famous for killing her houseplants) and they all look healthy. When I left the store, they promised me I could come in or call any time if I faced any issues. And true to the promise, I called them today because I encountered a pest snail infestation. As with the in-person meeting, the person who talked me did not hurry me through or force me to come to the store - but he listened to me patiently, much a like a doctor would. He had answers to my questions and once again, I left with the confidence that I can deal with the situation. This is a long review, but the summary is that, this is def a place I would recommend in terms of service and price points. The people are great and super helpful. They know their fish and if you are new aquarium owners, these are the people who you would want to be with you.

Fantastic experience: For Fresh water fish, they care for their aquariums and make sure their fish are healthy and happy. Always willing to help answer question either it being over the phone or in person. Willing to help you learn if you have any questions or give you feed back. Very responsive when leaving a voice message for them to get back to you. From inventory to live aquarium plants to fish and frozen food they have everything for a freshwater aquarium set up. Pretty reasonably priced as well.

Fish got packaged well, and survived the trip home. A+

Negative experience: I had heard so many good things about this store. So, I went there explained to the store clerk that I wanted to start a new aquarium and I was a newbie at this. I bought some substrate, products and two pieces of decorative wood. I spent for nearly 200$ in equipment. The clerk recommended to prepare the aquarium before I got the fishes. When I was installing the decorative pieces of wood, one of them wouldn’t stay in place. No matter what I did, it was floating. I called the store and they instructed me to immerse it in hot water for 3 days. After 6 days, I called to let them know that it didn’t work. I asked what they could do to replace the faulty wood. I ended up talking to a manager who (despite me stating every step of the way that I was new at this) told me that I should have known and asked if the piece of wood would float or not. He added it could take up to 3 months before the piece of wood stopped floating. 3 months!! Why would I purchase a piece of wood that will be ready in 3 months when I clearly mentioned I wanted to get everything done in 2 weeks. The best part, that same manager added that I could sell the faulty wood on Kijiji and suggested I that come back to the store to buy another piece of wood. Come back to the store? What he thinks I need another serving of his condescending ways. He must have been joking. Maybe I got unlucky, and I had the misfortune to talk to one of the most uncaring managers in the store. I had planned to purchase fishes, plants, the whole work. But I will definitely go elsewhere to finish my aquarium. Good luck if you’re a newbie and head there. I’m not spending another dollar in that store. The clerks I had met were really nice (hence the 2 stars instead of 1). But if you’re not an expert and don’t ask all the right questions, the fault is on you as that manager so nicely told me.

Fantastic experience: I love this store! I always get great service and great advice. They are super knowledgeable on anything having to do with an aquarium. You can tell they care about fish, their tanks are spotless and it's extremly rare you see a dead fish. No matter how many people are in the store the employees always take the time to answer all my questions (and sometimes I have A LOT) and I never feel rushed. My only complaint is I wish they had more stores around the island!

Negative experience: Very unwelcoming. Client here for a long time until they kept harassing me to wear their specific mask, when I've been wearing the same one to the store since the pandemic. I guess that extreme paranoia over the flu is more important than keeping clients and giving good service. Will be changing go-to stores.
