Fantastic experience: Worth the journey, we needed something urgently and a brilliant young man gave us lots of information and options and even went out of his way to drop off something when he finished work (and we don't live locally) Exceptional customer service!

Fantastic experience: Whilst you can get everything you want on the Internet, sometimes you need it NOW and also need to talk to a person. I broke a fitting on a filter. A quick call to the shop. The staff member knew what I was talking about, checked his stock and had exactly what I needed. Price wise, it was comparable with the Internet, but the good service received was priceless.

Fantastic experience: We've had a few visits here recently to get our fish tank going. As newbies, we've found this shop to be so helpful. I'm not sure of the guys name, but he spent ages with us explaining what type of fish we could put in our size tank, and which species would mix happily together. Highly recommend a visit. They have a great set of fish to see out in the back room too, and often have frogs and snakes, and leopard gheckos!

Negative experience: I have brought 2 lots of worms from this place and today I opened up my box to give to my axalotol and there is maggots in the box , never again will I buy from this place !!!!

Fantastic experience: Great Place to get all your exotic pet needs. Great knowledgeable staff. I have a Colorado River Toad, Mexican King Snake and fish. I don't need to go anywhere other than this place for decorations, food, practical items such as bulbs etc. The concrete toad in my picture was a birthday present, but the leaves, bark and light were all bought from Trop Shop

Fantastic experience: Massive thank you to Ian, aka, Mr trop shop himself lovely feel to his clean,well stocked fish room and tanks. Especially love the open top, black water, "low but wide", amazon type tank. All stock and plants looking healthy and clean, as were the tank glass and backgrounds in every single tank and this goes a long way imo when it comes to first impressions. Positive experience: One thing I did not like about this shop was the amount of times being asked if I needed assistance, good stock of fish and accessories, would recommend a visit, easy parking.

Negative experience: Giving a star after a very bad experience with them... We left in their care our turtles Eva and Wally for 3.5 weeks... On our return from holiday we went to the shop on 7th January 2023 and as can been seen on the photos Eva had the shell cracked and the staff avoided to tell us what exactly happened... They said that Eva jumped out of the tank which even that was the case the shell couldn't be broken or crack like this... We send them an email without no reply up to today... We got a message from some Ian pretending ( or may be ) to be the owner of the shop and when my wife called him he was extremely rude, beyond the rudeness... He didn't assume no responsibility, we got no help from them in treating Eva, also the same Ian told my wife what should be as he was a vet which is not... I do no write bad reviews but working/ owning a pet shop and behaving like this is just not right... We made some complains in couple of places will wait for replies as the shop should have assumed full responsibility as our turtles were in their care... I can't recommend them... Awful experience!!!

Positive experience: Since i moved into the area which is almost 15yrs ago, this shop has never failed to deliver a fantastic friendly and expert advice and first class service on all the fishes and reptiles they supply. With aquarium supplies and consumables that will not tear a hole in your pocket wallet or purse. They test your water free of charge when you are purchasing any of their cold water or tropical / marine fishes. very large on garden ponds and lots more. Parking is free and easily accessible.

Negative experience: Rang trop shop and ask if they had any simese alge eaters and the woman with black hair said yes. in her own words " we have 3" so I said I will head down (25 mins drive) When I arrived I was left waiting for near 30 mins while she went looking for them. She then turns around and goes sorry we don't have any! I said to her " I asked you on the phone and you said you could see them" her reply was "they was on my fish list" absolute waste of time. She has to be the worst member of staff in this shop now! While there I went to look in the fish tanks, pretty much every tank had a dead fish in and all the tanks had black beard alge everywhere and so many pest snails! Since this shop has got new owners it has gone right down hill. Shame as use to be a great little shop. Staff are shocking! Will never be using this place again!

Positive experience: Disappointed that I was unable to get a full refund today. Was given a credit note. What I bought was too big for my daughters vivarium. Wrong size given and now I have several items that are no good and a £35.99 credit note which now needs to be £91 credit note because everything I have is useless. Would sooner have the money put back in my account but hey, I'm only the customer (a regular customer I might add.) Disappointed is putting it mildly.

Positive experience: Was searching for a local place to buy live plants and came across this shop. It’s good in the range of supplying overall aquarium needs but didn’t have the plant that I wanted. Nevertheless the staff were okay nothing it’s more self service till you get to the counter with your item. Staff could be more inviting or helpful to offer a better experience for customers.

Great selection of fish, big selection of decoration items, well cared for, knowledgeable staff. We will be back again, I would strongly recommend it there aren't many aquatic stores as well kept as this.

Positive experience: Its a really great place to go if you are new in the aquatic world, I built my first pond and everything I needed was there. Accept now I am moving into predetory fish there are none only goldfish and so shubunkins and small koi so it would be nice to have some more exotic fish.

Fantastic experience: I hv always got my pond requirements here and staff always been very helpful. Howeever, hv run out of fish food. Usually have big bag of "superior Value" for Koi and pond fish. Bag is green w a fish on the front. My last bag was £16.99. Sadly i am 82 and isolating so i cannot come to you so i was wondering if you could possibly deliver . I know the food is not essential for me but now the fish are feeding again, it is essential for them. I live in Hatch Road opposie Black Horse Pub. Can you tell me if you can deliver this bag of food and how much you charge for deliveries. Sorry its such a small order at the moment. Thank you. June Moody

Fantastic experience: I came here after going to the Grays store for many months. I believe this place is fairly new but honestly, what these guys have done in the small time they have been there, Is great. Amazing owner and great, helpful staff.

We've set up our very first tropical aquarium, they're very informative and don't try and take the mick with making you buy the most expensive products just to get money out of you, unlike Pets At Home. Great place, would highly recommend :)

Negative experience: I asked the shopkeeper if he could order me some venezuaylan corydoras. He was happy to do this and called me on the day they arrived. I immediately went down to the store and was amazed that they had been priced at £45 each! I told the fish keeper these fish cost £5 on the internet and he replied 'that's how much we get them for'. I refused to pay and have not been back since

Positive experience: Staff are friendly, though prices for livestock was over priced compared to other stores. Their variety of items is very limited, seemed a little empty. Small livestock variety, very generic.

Negative experience: I have never received such a disgraceful customer service in all my life. I asked to return an item the day after purchase and was told ‘No, it’s not our company policy’ even though by law everyone has the right to return within a set time limit. I did state this and was still told that I couldn’t not have a refund. My partner then proceeded to call the store and speak to the staff member working the till as working in law, he knew they had to give a refund on the item. This is where things took a very strange turn.. My partner stated unless a refund was given he would give them a review stating this fact and it was at this point I was then surround by 3 staff members out the front of the store and was told that my partner was banned, never to show his face in the store again and that they still would not give a refund. After relaying this fact to my partner over the phone and rang the store again and things took and even stranger turn. The manager then took the phone and stated that my partner should come down to the store and that they could sort this issue ‘out back’. I’m not sure if the owner thinks he is Brentwood’s answer to Phil Mitchel and this is the norm when running a shop and someone asks for a refund but he is obviously in the wrong business. After my partner pointed out how shocking the customer service he was providing was, that he would leave many reviews and tell everyone he knew not to use the store again they decided to give a refund. I was called back into the shop to return the item and get the refund and it was here the manger laughed in my face and stated ‘I never thought someone would get so worked up over £70’. They must be a struggling business to threaten customers over £70 and ask them to come and fight it out. I will never ever set foot in this shop again and I would highly recommend avoiding this store at all costs! Little side note: Each time I have visted this store dead fish have been stuck to the pumps and the goldfish we purchase here all died within 2 weeks yet fish I purchased elsewhere are still thriving.

Negative experience: I have never been so insulted. I have used this shop many times. I returned an item not in its original packaging though never used and they would not provide me with a refund despite this being the law. I go to this shop weekly and must spend in region of 500 a year with them on my two ponds. I will never go to this shop again and spend another penny. I will also be notifying everyone i know about this place and i will make certain that no one i know will ever use it again. For the sake of sixty quid i really think it is disgusting customer service to regular customers.
