Negative experience: Me and a friend bought some fish last Saturday, both fish that were added to existing tanks have killed all fish, the fish we bought must have had some form of disease now we have two empty tanks, fish that were years old now dead Avoid at all costs !!!!!

Negative experience: Absolutely disgusting .. animals in terrible condition 1 budgie grounded fluffed walking in circuls and sneezing. 1 rat alone balding itching like crazy clearly having some allergies, struggling with respiratory star gazing head tilt .wen asked if I could seee her, staff was to scared to touché her as she's (nasty) Geko emaciated with 0 strentg .Wen asked if they had seen vets * no but they are under observation* asked if I could buy and take to a veg my self *no the manager sed cant* . Animals left to suffer , staff had ZERO nolage on animal care .... right ur lame reply, it will fall on deaf ears. I saw what I saw. I hope this review puts anyone off that's thinking of putting money in this shops pocket. Disgusting

Negative experience: This place is shocking! It needs shutting down!!!!! Even the responses to the reviews are disgusting, unprofessional and plain rude! Even told the staff that what I was seeing was disgusting and got greeted with a plethora of excuses! Starting with the entrance I was greeted to the stench of dirty fish water and a massive safety hazard before venturing downstairs to what at first seemed pretty interesting until seeing the amount of overcrowded fish! Then the rodents! My heart broke when I saw the state of the rodents. The cages are worse than the ones in pets at home and I thought they were bad! These cages were so small that they couldn't even fit in a wheel and the excuse I received was (because we cant fit a wheel in, I give them cardboard) the bedding provided was that fluffy dangerous cotton fluff stuff that kills hamsters on a regular basis and causes blockages! The cages aren't even ethical whatsoever! They have sliding metal doors on the back (these doors by the way trapped one of the hamsters who needed to be moved as it got stuck!!!!!!! Not a single correctly sized wheel for any hamster of any size!!!! Multiple cages for sale and very overpriced! The cages also seem to be damaged with black tape on the front! Some of the cages are actually vile for size! On top of the hamsters cages multiple budgies were crammed into cages and were all screaming non stop! Which doesn't just stress them out but the hamsters below who are prone to illnesses due to stress!!!!!! This place also sells very sharp and terribly made bird houses for over £15 which is shocking! The stock really isn't that great either!

Fantastic experience: The best customer service - I have phoned on a couple of occasions to ask whether they could hold or rush a live feed order and they do everything they can to accommodate me. Staff are always super friendly on the phone, the prices are more than reasonable, and the quality of the live feed I've had is amazing (lots of really big critters!). Wholeheartedly recommend.

Positive experience: The car boot here is good, and the people are lovely but the building itself it dingy, moulding and falling apart, it is horrible to walk through.

Fantastic experience: Aquamania in Accrington is a surprisingly spacious and well-laid-out store that's perfect for fishkeepers and aquascaping enthusiasts alike. They offer an excellent selection of hardscape materials — plenty of rocks, wood, and decorative pieces to spark your creativity. The fish section is also well-stocked, with a nice variety of both tropical and coldwater species, all looking healthy and well cared for. That said, the selection of aquatic plants and active substrates feels a bit limited at the moment. There appears to be a noticeable lack of diversity in these areas, which might make it tricky if you're planning a planted tank or looking for specific soil-based substrates. It’s possible they were just between shipments, but it’s something to keep in mind. Still, the overall experience was great. The staff are friendly and happy to chat or offer advice, and there’s plenty to browse. Well worth a visit, especially if you're nearby or looking to stock up on aquascaping materials.

Negative experience: Hello. It was mainly the cleanliness of the place walk downstairs and cobwebs, unused dirty fish tank at the bottom of the stairs. Walls have faded of time. The shelves were dusty as well as the products. The staff were helpful and the cold water fish looked healthy.

Fantastic experience: The building is a little deceptive on the outside. Once inside however, there's a great choice of fish, aquariums and accessories. Well worth a visit.

Negative experience: Been here a lot, the last 3 times I’ve walked away without the stuff I went for. Not the best, won’t bother anymore

She was amazing from the moment we walked in, there was no hard sell from her whivh i liked, she literally was incredible and nothing was too much trouble. We left with everything we needed as well as lots of great advise. Our Gecko is now going to live like a king. Aquamania will be our new go to place for all our reptile needs and that is because of the great service we received. Great Shop Great Staff

Fantastic experience: Today I visited aquamania seeking help and answers. I got that and so much more, literally . Soon after we walked we was greeted by liz and from then my mind was at ease. She made sure that all our questions were answered and worries put to rest. Nothing was too much hassle for her. Even with the shop getting busy she didn’t just leave us. Why we didn’t go there in the first place I do not know. What I do now now is that we will always be going to aquamania seeking help. Ziggy(our leopard gecko) now has the home he should have had from the start. Thank you aquamania and even more of a thank you to Liz.

Negative experience: It's got so bad over the years

Fantastic experience: A nice shop with almost everything you could want in regards to fish and pets (and probably reptiles too but I don't have any of those so can't judge). I'm fairly sure the last time I came here many years ago the shop was split over several floors whereas now it seems to all be on the lowest floor, with some sort of indoor market upstairs on Sundays. The staff were friendly and chatty and the general chatter I overheard while browsing showed they really care about the animals, which is always nice! The fish tanks were perhaps showing their age a little bit, but the fish inside them were all happy and healthy as far as I could see! Besides, I'm sure I remember those exact tanks years ago when I last visited, so the nostalgia was nice!

Negative experience: ok how dare u accuse me of writing a fake review of this place why would i take tike out of my day to write a fake review for a dead hamster, i assure u that it was not fake. 1 or 2 reviews of being bad reviews but its more than that. Stop defending aquamainia its a terrible place to go. instead of calling out on these "fake" reviews which people are sending about the place to be dirty ( which is true ) yes u can get behind on cleaning and im not having anything against that but when it's happening alot and they are living animals people are buying u shouldnt be getting behind on that. i assure you i was not told how old my hamster was, the hamster started smelling after a day of having it , we took it to the vets a week later turns out it had a bladder infection so im not sure what that was about and i am blaming you for that. Your shop is an actual terrible place and should get took down. Most likely the nice positive reviews are bots or else ur business would already be taken down.

Fantastic experience: Shaun was fantastic in guiding us through the exciting but slightly daunting journey of choosing our first family pet, for our little one. His knowledge and expertise made everything feel so much easier, especially as we learned about the differences between cold-water fish and tropical ones (who knew there was more to keeping pet fish?). He brought up things we hadn’t even considered and took the time to explain everything in detail. We genuinely felt welcomed and well looked after. The advice we got at Aquamania was miles better than anything offered by a certain big-name retailer!

Negative experience: I bought some bugs from here for my son’s little gecko leopard and unfortunately his lizard got a parasite from them and 2 weeks later the lizard passed away at the age of 4 and they are supposed live till 20! He is devastated

Negative experience: Seems like it must have been a good shop at one point, definitely not so much now. The sparsely stocked shelves looks as sad as the prices will make you feel. Literally 3 times the price of other local stores on some products. Additionally, the fish and the aquariums they are kept in do look like they a missing some love. I would not go here again.

Fantastic experience: Great car boot on Sundays 8 till 1pm, not far to walk from town centre, just go up the side of morrisons. Lots of good stalls, grab yourself a bargain . It's indoors and there's a cafe on the top floor.

Fantastic experience: Indoor car boot here every Sunday from 8am to 1pm. Some really good pitches/shops and quite a large variety of good from used to new items. It goes over 2/3 floors and definitely worth a visit. Plenty of onsite parking available with helpful members of staff. Check it out.

Negative experience: Called in today to buy some tropical fish unsuccessful walked out after a quick look about looks very dirty and unloved fish tanks dark and not clean at all

Negative experience: Ordered frozen food, came next day, completely thawed out. Immediately reported to them, sent photos as requested by them, as soon as I did that they went silent. Do not use, they don't package their deliveries well enough to remain frozen and the items can't be refrozen once thawed and still be safe to use. Wasn't even that warm when they came through and I opened the package immediately once it arrived. I assume it wasn't completely frozen before they packed. The mice in the bag were covered in blood which had leaked out. The frozen fish food pack had popped in places and the contents dribbled out. Refused partial refund for the unusable items, no offer to even send out replacements so they must know they can't efficiently pack and send frozen food. Other reviews also mention being ignored when there is a problem with a purchase. Awful company. Should have checked reviews before wasting over £30.

Negative experience: Visited today. And I've never seen a more dirty and run down place. The tanks and absolutely disgusting. Don't look like they been cleaned in months. All fish looking ill. Even the aquatic plants were dying. Staff stood around chatting and laughing whilst tanks had dead fish. Tanks was that dirty visibility of the fish was hard. Should be ashamed. Do not visit. Avoid at all cost

Fantastic experience: The customer service at Aquamania is always spot on, but there is one person in particular who always goes that extra mile to help me and that is Brad. I think Brad truely deserves a pay rise or promotion. Keep it up Brad :) (The lady who comes in for the blood worms)

Fantastic experience: Went to Aquamania with my son who wanted to buy some terrapin. We was met by a lovely, friendly and very knowledgeable guy called Brad. He was very helpful, explained everything to us and even showed my younger son the snakes and knowledge about them. We found that nothing was to much trouble at all for him. My husband even comment on how he could tell how much he loved his job. After he went through with everything we purchased he helped us to our car and pushed my son in his wheelchair to pick the terrapin he wanted and helped him in the car. I would highly recommend this place. Excellent customer service from start to finish. Thank you Brad for making my son feel very welcome as it was his first time using his wheelchair and being out in public.

Fantastic experience: Purchased some Tetra's today and there was a mistake on the pricing system, Brad was unable to contact the manager but handled the situation with utmost professionalism. Brad is an asset to the company and always gives me great advice

Fantastic experience: I don't always write reviews, but I had such a nice visit today to Aquamania that I wanted the staff to know how much I appreciated it. Visited today and was so impressed by every member of staff I chatted to, particularly Brad who looked after me the whole time. I always ask a lot of questions, and each staff member was friendly, personable and went out of their way to help me. ~Sorry I don't know everyone's names, but I pretty much interacted with everyone there. I wanted to set up a tank for a shrimp colony, and Brad gave great advice and helped me find what I needed (and nearly talked me into buying a lobster! Heh. Not for the colony though, of course.). Now I'm all set up, and I'm grateful for the advice he gave me. Normally, I've been heading to Aquamania to top up on food and plants for my two Axolotls, and each time I've visited I've always been greeted and helped by the staff. I've been able to ask for advice on tricky things and get solid good answers back, and if anyone isn't sure, they usually confer with colleagues or admit they're not sure - which is so much better than shops who just pretend to know everything and could potentially endanger the pets in question! I've always felt I can trust anyone I talk to there. It's become my go to place for aquatic stuff. Thanks guys!

Negative experience: The fish sales are is in a terrible state, I've had fish from here in the past and had problems with them dying, after my visit the other day I won't be going again, I wouldn't recommend buying fish from here but I guess it's ok for buying accessories etc.

Negative experience: Bought 5 fish yesterday woke up this morning 2 are dead tested the water and its perfect all tests coming up as safe had heard rumours about this place but wanted to put that aside and see for myself wish I'd listened 60 quid down and 2 dead fish won't be coming back

Fantastic experience: Online order One item out of stock in my order, I spoke to Ashley and after he explained the delay with this one item I decided to cancel this item and Ashley arranged to send the remaining order by courier to speed delivery up. He transferred more frozen fish food to the order instead of putting the out of stock item on back order as it’s a manufacturer issue not a retailer issue. Thanks Ashley for your prompt service. First time using Aquamania Superstore but 5 star service so will definitely be my live/frozen fish food supplier from now on.

Amber who served us was really helpful and lovely after reading some bad reviews it put me off coming but decided to give it a try and I did not regret it, all animals are in clean environments and all look very happy, I think people forget it’s a petshop and they are in temporary homes till they are bought. Positive experience: Got told to check this place out first time I went it had different species of fish and didn't have 1 dead fish however when visited again in the last few months can't believe how dirty some of the tanks are don't take that long to scrub algae off the glass and give the fish some clean water just a bit more maintainence on the tanks and there will be no disappointments from me. Prices are nice and reasonable and staff will answer any question you need to ask them.

Negative experience: I was spoken to so disgustingly on the phone, verbally sworn at, shouted at, huffed and puffed at. This all came the manager may I add! He thought it was acceptable to hang the phone up numerous times also. Never once was a swear word mentioned my end but he thought he had the right to swear at a paying customer! All I wanted to do was return a product I wasn't happy with and wanted a refund but instead I was spoken to so poorly! If you don't want to be spoken like this after you arent happy with something I recommend you don't shop here! Such poor people skills when communicating. And to top things off. The account that was made to make the purchase has been closed / blocked by the manager.

Negative experience: DISGRACEFUL....ordered bloodworm, didn't say not in stock when ordered, had to wait a while...received it thawed, no proper packaging, no stickers to say frozen food, 1 ice pack all wrapped in tin foil and cling film, tried to blame royal mail....the manager was an absolute nightmare, wouldn't let you explain and started swearing and I mean swearing at my daughter when ringing on my behalf...there was absolutely no way he should have been f...ing and blinding on the phone...no manager at all....shouldn't be allowed... you do not speak to customers that way....STAY AWAY...absolutely disgraceful

I would especially like to mention Ellie, a lovely young lady who helped us with our purchases. She was so friendly and knowledgeable! It was a pleasure to shop with you! We will be back! Fantastic experience: You can tell that the Pets are very well looked after, they were clean and playing around. Young Lady with brown hair i think called Liz let us hold a Rabbit which my kids found amusing. Thanks Aquamania, has been a pleasure and will be coming back

Negative experience: Terrible standard of care for their animals. Rats had mange on ears and I asked what was wrong and they said they didn't know and just assumed it was bites. Very clear it wasn't so shows how little they care for them. This place shouldn't be allowed to sell animals

Fantastic experience: Went down to buy some parakeets for our little family. I was met with wonderful staff who went above and beyond. Not only did they answer my many questions but they made the experience just wonderful. I was parked so far off but the staff asked me to bring my car to the back entrance where they could put my cage and all other items straight into my boot. The reason I bring this up is because they had already locked up for they day as I went just before closing time. Thank you so much To Ellie and Amber.

Positive experience: Huge variety of fish and other aquatic creatures, and fairly priced too! However the accessories like tank and ornaments are expensive but with rising costs it’s fair. But do recommend to any fish fanatics.

Fantastic experience: Bradley was amazing and consistently so with every visit. There is no flanneling, just reliable advice. We rescued a couple of axolotis and truthfully without Bradley's input we would have struggled to get them healthy and well looked after. The store is always clean and well stocked and all the staff are friendly and always seem happy to help. My kids love to visit every tome we are passing

Negative experience: Just been in to visit here and absolutely disgusted by the conditions the animals are kept in, definitely not the uk recommended enclosure sizes via rspca 3 rabbits in a cage not even big enough for a hamster wanted to purchase some items but put them back immediately as I’m not supporting a company like this

Negative experience: States one price then adds extra charges at the till if under a curtain amount. If your planning on nipping in to grab something make sure it’s over £10 or you’ll be charged an extra fee. Wasn’t stated why this is added onto the price by the staff member at the till either but said it was added onto my original amount as I tapped the machine !! And they say it’s ‘not a failing business’ must be if extra charges are having to be put on for lower priced items for no reason.

Positive experience: Staff are very nice and knowledgeable and very helpful, the issue that I have is that the fish tanks and the aquarium room is very dark and because of all the weed on the surface of the water you can’t see the fish very well

Fantastic experience: A super store keeping all that's needed for your aqua animals and pets. Just had a rough look, didn't buy anything as i don't have any pets here but a good place for pet parents.

Negative experience: I recently ordered 5 bags of baby brine shrimp, and received 5 bags with nothing but stinking water in! I have contacted the store and had no response, so now I have opened a claim with PayPal. I certaintly won't be ordering from here again.

Fantastic experience: We went to aquamania at the weekend for some advice about fish which we had recently got and wanted to expand our aquarium. We spoke to Bradley who was so helpful with his extensive knowledge of fish and the advice he gave us has helped us massively. He was great with our youngest who was running riot and gave him a packet of crisps. We will definitely return and recommend to othes.

Positive experience: Went to the Mania’s Mega Market and Indoor Carboot which is held at Aquamania Superstore. A large collection of different stalls over 2 floors ranging from clothes to bric-a-brac. It wasn’t overly busy so parking was easy and the stall holders were friendly and welcoming. Would attend again and try out the Saturday open morning.

Fantastic experience: Nice store with various types of animals. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. My 3yr old brother enjoyed looking at all the different types of animals and the staff member cleaning out one of the tortoise enclosures let him pet them while they were moved into a tray.

Fantastic experience: This is a great opportunity for people to experience a in door car boot sale every Sunday from 08.00 am / 14.00 pm I recommend 2nd floor unit 3 for Christmas cards, greeting card,and lots of other stuff to do with celebrating birthday, party, Down in the basement it's were Aquamania superstore is based they are stairs and lift to all floors including Aquamania shop tropical fish,cold water fish, reptiles and lots of other items to do with looking after Animals,reptiles, snakes, fish Large car park at front of building.

Negative experience: Been a while since I last visited due to moving away 8yrs ago when it was spread over 2 massive floors. On this visit however, the top floor which was for reptiles and furries is used for car boots. The reptiles and fish are in the basement area. Very little in live foods for reptiles and very little supplies.

Negative experience: Asked for information by phone on 3 occasions and never received a call back when promised. Then found the product they were selling as ex display and damaged was £70 more than brand new and identical from pets at home. Lost faith in this store for significant purchases.

Negative experience: The cages were very small for one rabbit never mind 3. They were dead fish in the tanks and there was no water in the reptile cages only one of them had water. Not very animal friendly . At least know how much room animals need , also very rude staff and customers got told by one of the customers that I was irresponsible for no reason silly thing to say especially to a child no wonder they don’t let you hold the animals because there to scared to even let you touch them . Negative experience: This place has such potential to be a nice store - especially with the wide variety of fish. I’m disappointed with how dirty all the tanks are and the fact that not even a mild detail like cleaning the glass at a front of a tank is done. Tanks are not cared for well at all. Dead fish in several tanks, several empty tanks full of bacteria mould clumps. All of your plants have snail infestations - the plant tanks are actually a lot nicer looking and cleaner then the ones with fish in? Like I say this place has such potential and it’s a shame to see everything so poorly maintained, no care for what customers see or the welfare of the animals/fish within the store. It’s not very hard to clean glass and manage tanks, how do you expect people to want to buy your fish if you aren’t looking after them? Such a shame.

Fantastic experience: Aquamania is an amazing large independent pet and pets accessories store in a large premises with great access and parking. It is definitely worth the visit if you're after pets or pet supplies or even just to look at the range of what the store has to offer. Great variety from fish and reptiles, birds and small animal pets. I purchased budgies, a cage and accessories from this store and the small birds are still going strong after 10 years. All departments are great here. Aquamania is worth the visit even if it's just to look at the nice range of tropical and freshwater fish! A friendly and helpful team too.

Negative experience: Avoid this store. Ordered online but poorly packaged live food split inside, squashed & disgusting. Also very old live food as all were dead & smelt awful. Had to open paypal dispute after phoning 3 times & being ignored. Managers very rude! Avoid this company.

Negative experience: AWFUL EXPERIENCE! Customer service was awful, fishes die after a couple of days, the workers were not helpful at all you ask them a question and they they come back with dead responses. Would not recommend this store to no one.

Positive experience: Just been to pick up a Syrian hamster. Hamsters were happy in their areas and looked well fed, clean and healthy. Staff were very friendly and gave lots of advice. I dealt with Amber when purchasing my Syrian hamster. It was clear she knew her stuff and loved the animals in her care. Great service!

Fantastic experience: As someone who has only recently gotten a pet hamster, I am pleased to say that the staff here are polite and very helpful. They offer good advice to help with caring for animals. I definitely recommend for anyone wanting to buy a pet or need some help.

Fantastic experience: Despite the bad reviews, the shop is still brilliant. I have had no problems with my pet kitten and none with my fish. The staff have all been very helpful and most bad reviews are false, over dramatic or stupid in themselves. The shop is good and staff look after pets all the time and every time i visit for fish or kitten food, the staff are always helpful and i see no problems with any animals. The new staff are also very helpful and keen to help. Update 16/11/2018: The shop still has some great staff, although some from last time have left. My kitten and fish are still doing great even after some problems with the water that i had in, the staff managed to help me resolve the issue and help with medication (after adding fish to the tank from a different store) to treat all of my fish without problems. The pets in the store are still being looked after well and i stand with my earlier review (about a year ago). Update 19/06/2022: Fish still doing great,. had to get a new filter pump and no problems, I think that the shop is stocked well and decent prices. Some of the staff seemed to be looking for things to do but otherwise no problems. All good, cheers

Fantastic experience: Went here today for the first time to look at some fish. The staff were very nice, approachable and helpful. One of the guys working there (sorry, I'm unsure on his name) overheard us talking to our son about a turtle and he got one out for my son to hold. There was no reason for him to do this. It was just a very nice thing for him to do. We will definitely be going there for our fish needs in the future

Fantastic experience: All the staff were very helpful and friendly. My son was shown some of the animals and the staff members was brilliant with him as he is only 2 years old and they sat down next to his pram so he could touch the animals. It was great to see them showing him that sort of attention. We bought some fish and the staff member was very helpful and we got exactly what we wanted. We will be going back again very soon

Fantastic experience: Brought my son to get some shrimp, was well looked after by Bradley. He even showed my kids the snakes & tortoise. Was very friendly & knowledgeable. Thank you for such a lovely experience.

Negative experience: A pair of adult Syrians in one tank, fluff bedding used for hamsters, awful condicitions and space for them. One hamster had half his ear bitten off (due to stress or putting two of them together probably) there was a net with a dead fish in it just sad on the open lid tanks as you walk in. The lady brushed off the hamster with his ear bitten in half saying its a small chip and its no issue. Just not good care for these animals or respect for them. Lots of good items to buy but the animals are basically being treated as an item on the shelf that they don't care if it gets knocked over or ripped open honestly. From past experience too of buying animals from there I was sold two Guinea pigs that were clearly unbonded and just thrown together and a dwarf hamster had many illnesses and died shortly due to issues he came with from the show. Don't support this mistreatment of animals

Fantastic experience: Great staff. Really fun and friendly experience. They also know what they are talking about. Professional but chilled at the same time. Always get our fish from here. Healthy and well looked after.

Positive experience: The staff here (Brad and Josh particularly) were very helpful and were more than happy to talk to us and show us the reptiles. Seemed to have good knowledge, were very clear that enclosures were temporary shop homes which I have found unclear in other shops and new pet owners find misleading in what is appropriate. Very much enjoyed my visit

Negative experience: It's quite a large place, with plenty of food stuffs as well as accessories and tanks and cages etc. I felt that at least two of the goldfish tanks were over crowded although I'm not an expert. The staff were all huddled in a corner, watching or doing something on a computer, they all looked very young, and none of them asked if we or other customers needed help.

Fantastic experience: Went in the other day and was greeted by Brad. He was so polite and helpful to us with all of my problems I had. Definitely will be returning. Great Customer Service

Fantastic experience: First time visit. Very impressed. Good variety of tropical fish. Joshua the assistant very helpful. Answered any questions i asked about the fish I needed. Thank you. Definitely go again.

Negative experience: Absolutely vile, needs shutting down. Poor little animals all squished in tiny little cages, so dirty. The animals do not look very looked after at all. 4 rabbits and a guinea pig crammed in a cage that doesn't look big enough for 1 rabbit and 3 rabbits in an even smaller 1. Signs up saying don't take pictures because it will distress the animals... load of rubbish because people will spread the word of how poorly looked after the animals are. Over flowing bins in the aquarium and filthy fish tanks No flash was used whilst taking these photographs!!!

Negative experience: Only saving grace was the friendly staff and somewhat reasonable prices. Given how quiet the shop was, I would've expect a lot more due diligence and care to be given; tanks filthy, overflowing bin in reptile area, and poor maintenance of animals in the far end of the shop. Doesn't instill me with confidence when looking to potentially purchase some pets.

Fantastic experience: Quite confused with some of these reviews. I visit weekly and I have never seen a dead fish ever. IV bought plants from there fish tanks and fish food never had an issue ever. Staff are so friendly and approachable. Great advice from them they would never let you walk away with a fish if your set up isn't right. Maybe why these comments are here maybe didn't let fish go to an unsuitable environment and the customer got bitter who knows. I think there great and my fish and set up is thriving thanks to them.

Fantastic experience: Love going here! The staff are really friendly and know their stuff and always give us good advice, as to what can and cannot go in our community aquarium we have! Me and my husband prefer to come here rather than the bigger stores like Pets at home.
