Fantastic experience: They are really nice people and were super helpful with teaching my daughter and I about the best products for our bearded dragons. One of the employees even offered to meet me in town to bring me crickets after she was off work there since she lived near by and knew I didn’t have a vehicle and had a long walk. Very nice people there and helpful.

Fantastic experience: I went to Priest River pets two weeks ago and got some fish for my aquarium. In contrast to some of the big name Spokane stores, I have never gotten a sick fish from them. I got two interesting patterned corydora catfish and a small bristle nose plycostemus. They are already three times their original size and enjoying their new life in my aquarium very much. The people who run the place are really nice and I enjoy doing business with them.

Negative experience: I was really sad to see the the the tanks their animals where in. The chameleons had a single vine and a paper towel for enrichment. The turtle had a single floating log in the pond and that was it. The beta tanks water was covered in green algae. And the two birds they had had green in their water. Please don't support a business that obviously doesn't care!
Thank you for your review. We would like to address your concerns.
First, our chameleons are babies and baby reptiles are kept on paper towels or felt carpets instead of substrates to prevent impaction. Young reptiles don't always catch their prey when they strike for it and can end up with a mouthful of dirt or sand. If they swallow the dirt or sand it can cause impaction and lead to death. Many reptile keepers, continue to use paper towels well into adulthood for their reptiles. We also find that having fewer decorative items in the tank makes it easier for babies to find their prey. Chameleons eat only live prey and while they are young we do try to make it easy on them.
Second, The turtles are in a 100 gallon pond with a basking log, lighting, and a heater. We feed them live insects regularly for enrichment. We empty their pond completely every week to clean it. We let them roam around the store supervised while their pond is being cleaned and when we don't have any customers in the store. We do not let them walk around when people are here as they are a tripping hazard. They get plenty of social interaction as well.
Third, yes there is some algae on the betta tanks. It is a green algae which is not harmful to the fish and is a result of the light over the tanks. We periodically put in algae eating fish or snails to naturally control the algae without the need for chemicals. We also clean our betta tanks regularly. We do not use UVB sterilizers in our fish room, so algae is going to naturally occur.
Fourth, the parakeets had green water because they took their chopped greens from their food dish and dropped them in their water. I can assure you that they get their water cleaned and refilled every day. They just enjoy throwing food in their water bowl.

While I appreciate the good review, I think you are talking about Priest River Animal Rescue. They are the animal shelter and we are the pet store. And you're right, they do a great job with the animals there!
Negative experience: This place is terrible! As soon as I stepped in they started pitching their sales. “Buy this!” “Your pet will definitely need this!” Basically throwing things into my hands. They pretend they have so much knowledge on your pet, if your dog is throwing up, you have to get this food! I went in to get a new food for my cat, they handed me a bag of cat food, price? $33!! After a week I decided I liked it and wanted to buy more, I looked it up and found the exact same size bag for only $16!! And it’s NOT great for cats!!!! These people are scamming salesmen. I’ve been to car dealerships less scammy than these people. Do NOT go here! You’re better off ordering online.

Fantastic experience: Pros- ordered 20 rummynose. Theyre all doing awesome none died, 3 angelfish were instock and doing great. All very active. Also ordered and recieved glass top when none are available Great communication and knowledgable friendly staff. Found an extra large wood piece for tank that other pet stores did not have available.BONUS! GREAT PRICES! Water treatments, filters etc on hand. Got a handful of pest snails for free as a clean up crew. A mutual benefit I believe. In emergency, they had what i needed that several stores did not. Stock is well kept and cared for. You will not be let down!! Love this local gem! CONS. . . . NONE!! Unless youre looking for chicken fettucine alfredo. ETC. Had bunnies at a point and lizards dog and cat supplues etc. Lots packed into this small place. Personal thanks for helping me on my new hobby, I can trust your opinions and knowledge.

Negative experience: I purchased an item & when I left to go to my car, realize that I was charged more than the item was marked. I took the item & receipt back in & she told me the item was priced wrong. Instead of informing me the item had been priced incorrectly prior to purchase, she still charged me for more money. Though she credited me by honoring the price on the package, she did this only because I brought it back in to her store.

We try very hard to keep the shelf pricing and register pricing in sync, and must have made an error when we stocked it onto the shelf. Fantastic experience: This place was a surprise! Friendly, helpful, and a great selection. I didn't expect to find a pet store like this far from a major metropolitan area. And they had a big field next door that my dogs could walk around in.

Fantastic experience: I walked into the store and i have seen how much it has changed. The owners are very nice and very knowledgeable about their products. He asked me what i needed and personally took me around the store to help me get all the stuff i needed. He answered all my questions and was very patient with me while i shopped. They have plenty of products and offered to order me things that they did not have. I could not be more pleased with my visit. Went back again today.
