Negative experience: There people will never answer their phone when you try calling them. Their service sucks. All day I was trying to contact them and they didn't answer. I used to love their customer service but now they suck big time.

Fantastic experience: Went in person! Here’s the story: Me and my boyfriend had been COMBING sac, Roseville, and all over for a good saltwater store- with healthy aquatic life and frags. Me and my partner went to 3 other stores before finally coming across your reef. Needless to say, when I walked in the door I was so thrilled! The owner is beyond knowledgeable and so so friendly! I asked about frogspawn being compatible with my eel, as I have a few hammers already- answered my question with no problems and was so sweet! Now onto the frags- oh wow! The selection was incredible and for amazing prices! His torches, which I’ve seen go for 200-400$ online- he was selling for $100 or so! Incredible! I ended up spending around 180$ on 4 frags! I got 3 full price and the cheapest free :) The store had been poisoned and had to rebuild, which had been horrible news!!! The fact the owner came back so strong with such amazing frags is astounding! Good on him! This store truly does deserve more business. Will be sharing this business with friends, family and school!

Fantastic experience: I give this place 5 due to great communication during a shipment issue. For a first time online buyer of coral, I was pretty nervous but the zoas and hammers have bounced back! Will definitely buy a frag pack once weather is warmer.

Fantastic experience: EDIT 2/18/24: Fish have been back for a while. Really appreciate the separate systems for captive vs wild fish. Coral remains to be the best in the area. Definitely geared towards the enthusiast. Small shop. Great staff. -Very- limited fish selection. Like they almost don't even carry fish. Coral though? Great variety, great quality, reasonable prices, good deals. No visible pests, but obviously still dip your purchases.

Fantastic experience: Love Your Reef. Always a friendly and helpful staff. Store is small but is packed with tons of healthy coral frags. They have colonies but mostly smaller frags. I have had a lot of success with their coral.

Negative experience: BE AWARE ,I came here on a Sunday morning wanting to purchase fish for my Aquariam tank at home. The lady at the front was very nice and helpful. We purchased an $80 fish and went home to put it into our sea salt water tank and it did fine just like all of our other fish have done but then 4 days later it died. When I purchased the fish they gave it to me in a bag with the water it had in its tank and I asked if I could put that water in my tank and the lady said no because they put medicine in his tank and wouldn’t want to mix that medicated water of his with my tank water and my other fish that I already have. Which obviously makes sense now the tank he was used to had medicine being put in it and mine did not which is not my responsibility when buying a fish. All of my other fish have survived since my other aquarium store doesn’t put medicines in their fish tank when they know customers will be taking them home which is why all my other fish from another store are intact. When I took the dead fish back in a bag I was expecting to get store credit just like my regular Aquariam store does since obviously when buying an $80 fish you don’t expect it to die however, I was told they would not give me store credit at least so I could replace the dead fish and instead offers me a percentage off of a new fish. ITS OBVIOUS THEYRE IN IT FOR THE MONEY AND NOT CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. I am very un satisfied and will never buy from this place again. Not only to say their prices are super overpriced too.

Fantastic experience: I was introduced to this store a few years ago when they did a coral show in Las Vegas. You guys are great! Your service and prices are top notch and your corals are always nice and healthy. Frags are generous and not nubs. Thank you for such a great store.

Fantastic experience: Excellent selection of Corals with a huge variety of frags to choose from. Prices were competative if not lower than other local shops. Good deal on frags. I didn't care much for the price lists arranged by columns but it's prolly a good way to price so many items. The staff was knowledgeable and very helpful. Nice reef shop.

Positive experience: A nice collection of coral but the fish section was pretty sad and unkept.

Negative experience: Ordered online and got pretty much the entire order of corals wrong. Contacted them about it and said they would look into what went wrong. It's been a few days already and have heard nothing since. Claims 99.9% of their customers are satisfied and returning customers, so I'm guessing I'm that lucky 0.1% that isn't satisfied and gets ignored. But that's ok, first and last time I'll be buying from here. Edit - Was eventually sorted out, and received a new order. I only bumped it up to 2* and not more because of the quality of the corals. I had one that looked like it was infected with vermetid snails and another with red dots encrusted onto it even though it was a wysiwyg, the photo itself was taken in a way to obscure the red dots. Ymmv, but I would keep your expectations low if you buy from them through their website.

Fantastic experience: Purchased from the online store. Large selection of corals at reasonable prices. Purchased 10 pack of Zoa frags along with a handful of other corals. Super impressed on how fast the order was filled. Placed the order early Tuesday morning and had the corals at my door at 10am on Wednesday! Packaged very well (see pictures). Drip acclimated and then dipped them. Found no hitchhikers except a few pods and tiny feather dusters. Zoas opened immediately, all the corals had recovered after 24 hours. The last 2 pictures were taken 1 hour after I set them in my tank. Don't hesitate to order from this place. 5 Stars

Fantastic experience: Ordered online...I was concerned because I live in south Florida and all shipped items come in off the truck super hot...free overnight shipping, the corals were packed nicely in a styrofoam cooler with an ice pack...temperature was good, corals came in good condition and can’t beat the price...will order from them again

When I walked in I was overwhelmed with how many options of coral frags there were. John and his crew were very knowledgeable and willing to help answering any questions. Fantastic experience: I spent a lot of time here asking lots of questions and window shopping before I decided to start my nano reef again after a 16 year break from the hobby. They were helpful and patient and have a lot of good looking frags. They sell mixed salt water by the gallon which makes it way easier when doing small water changes and offer very detailed water quality testing a la cart so you only pay for tests you need.

Fantastic experience: Love this place. Best place in Sac to get any kind of coral. If he doesn’t have something in stock, the owner can order it for you. He won’t try to up sell you. He is legitimately concerned for the well-being of the animals and won’t sell you anything that will conflict with whatever else is in your tank. If you’re new, he’ll help you start your aquarium. Fantastic experience: Owner and Wife are very nice and more than patient when it comes to getting asked a lot of questions about reef tanks from maintence to the best corals to start with and what equipment is the best for the buck. Would differently recommend this place they aren’t just thing to sell you everything they sell you the right thing for your tank and won’t try to get you to buy somthing that’s to hard or very difficult if you’re not sure about it. Way better than aquarium depot or even aqua life to be honest

Fantastic experience: Great service. The owner if fair and goes out of his way to help you out. I have wanted certain corals that have been in his show tank and he cut frags for me. His store is always clean, never that fishy smell t\like other stores.

Fantastic experience: Short answer: You can spend lots of time and money to find out the hard way, or just trust that this is the best aquarium store. Long answer: I've been playing with reef tanks for about 4 years but never took the time to get serious. Recently i doubled down and upgraded my tank, so i'm taking it more seriously. I've been to many of the local shops. I like the equipment supply of one of them, but in the end, nothing compares to Your Reef. I got to spend some time talking to the owner John by catching him one night. John is almost always there working hard. Our conversation showed me how much more care he puts into his livestock and coral than other "fish stores". He has a wealth of knowledge, he has never sold me a line of BS, he is probably the most experienced aquarist you have access to. If you're reading this review, you're probably looking for some level of expertise that you have not yet found. Trust me, at your reef, you've found it. If you need to verify what i'm saying, go into ANY other store and look at their coral, it's covered in bubble algae, green hair algae, aiptasia, etc., not to mention the tank devastating nudibranch's you can't see...NOW go into YR and look at the coral. First thing you'll notice is they have coral frags that aren't just $5 or $10. Now look closely, that $25 frag of some rare zoa or macro that catches your eye doesn't have a spec of invasive algae on it. Now that you've noticed the coral is so clean, ask him about his fish and you'll learn about the care he takes to try and stock healthy fish. Bottom line, I'm glad YR is available to me. I notice John greets about half of his customers by first name, it's no coincidence local aquarists keep coming back to him. YR is the shop you hope to find the first time.

Fantastic experience: I have been to many saltwater fish stores, and this little gem is by far the best! They are knowledgeable and honest. When you step in many fish stores you smell something kinda funny. But here you can see and smell how clean it is.

Fantastic experience: This store is great, the staff are very knowledgeable and they are willing to answer questions (even dumb ones). After several visits and multiple purchases I've never had a problem and all of my crabs, fish, and shrimp are doing well. The livestock selection on-hand could be a bit better but they are willing to find/order for specific requests. The livestock pales in comparison to the different corals they have available, colonies, big frags, little frags, expensive frags, cheap frags, they have a great variety to choose from at prices that make you want to never visit other stores.
