Fantastic experience: GF and I stopped just to look. Tanks were spotless and all creatures looked extremely well taken care of. Place was very clean and tidy. Worker was what looked like testing water ( I know nothing about salt setups) with another customer so we went able to chat. She had some testing supplies and reference material out. Looked like she was very knowledgeable just from overhearing their conversation. I also liked they had text books available to learn. I will definitely stop back when I take the plunge into saltwater.

Fantastic experience: Milly and Aries (the African Grey bird) strike me as phenomenal owners and I was so immensely impressed with the shop that I had to immediately write this review upon leaving. From the fish, to the coral, to the bird, and the reptiles, it is clear that the owners are not only very knowledgeable on animal care and aquatics, but also genuinely care about their animals welfare. I will 100% be traveling the 2 hours from Ithaca to purchase fish, corals, and equipment from Milly for Cornell Veterinary College's aquatic animal health program.

Fantastic experience: About a year ago, My boyfriend and I started a saltwater tank. We would never have been successful without the folks at Caribbean Forest. They are always willing to take the time to answer any questions we have had. They are friendly and knowledgeable. It’s always a peaceful place to visit as well.

Fantastic experience: I stopped by the store to check on what they have. Their salted water tanks are well taken care of. The coral is very pretty and look alive compared to other fish stores I’ve been in the area. Staffs (or the owner) are friendly.

Fantastic experience: I absolutely love the smell of this place. I know that's weird to say :) but it's so clean and organized (unlike some fish places, the floor is wet, you can't find anyone to help, etc). I went in yesterday for some springtails for my geicko enclosure, and I got immediate help, suggestions, and great conversation about animals and what would be good to use for my little friends. Would definitely recommend a look!

Fantastic experience: Caribbean Forest has been my go to LFS for over two years. They provide excellent care to their animals and set the standard in the area for what a LFS should be. They stock a variety of additives, equipment and other items such as rock and substrate you’d need to maintain a healthy reef tank. The staff have always been kind and courteous!

Fantastic experience: Very nice marine fish store. Wife and I stopped in on our way back home to Ohio. Definitely a good selection and clean store. Hydros units in stock along with hydros accessories. All the fish looked super healthy and a decently large selection of inverts and corals. We will definitely stop again next time we are in the area.

From starting your first nano tank, to helping set up a large reef tank in your home. The many complexities of marine reef tank keeping are well understood and tought; to those whom which to learn. Always healthy stock. Beautiful exotic options not overpriced; equipment corals and live stock. A multitude of specialty marine tank accessories, equipment, corals, (soft lps sps) critters and fish. You're in good hands here. Millie the owner and Jason her husband; are incredibly talented at there job and profoundly knowledgeable. Very fair in everything they do. And how they run there business. They wish to make you successful in your saltwater hobby, and will go out of there way to ensure you will. Caribbean forest has set precedence for small privately owned professional reef shops in Rochester. A must visit for anyone serious in the hobby. 5/5 I don't go anywhere else.

Fantastic experience: Great fish store, huge selection of fish and coral and even better dry goods. Love this store and love the female owner. She always goes out of her way to inform me and teach me about new things about the hobby. She’s is always so nice and a prime example of a hard working business owner. Jason is a lot of help too and has a endless amount of knowledge about the hobby.

Negative experience: Was verbally harassed by the owner completely out of the blue upon leaving being called weird and "acting like a child" for taking nonflash totally distanced photos of afew fish I especially liked. (There was no sign or notion this was not allowed) additionally I saw a few dead fish and she rudely told me to get out of the way to dispose it assumingly as she continued to say how weird I was for using my phone. Felt extremely uncomfortable and will not be doing business there ever.

Fantastic experience: Jason and Millie are fantastic. I have always wanted a saltwater tank but was afraid that I wouldn't be able to manage one. About one year ago this month they hooked me up with an evo 13.5 gallon tank and walked me through everything from live rock selection, cycling, when to add fish and which fish would be happy in my tank. They helped me pick and purchase additional accessories and maintenance supplies. My tank is flourishing with awesome corals and all my original fish! Thank you guys so much for helping me succeed with saltwater!!!

Fantastic experience: This is the best all around saltwater aquarium shop that I have been to. They really do have everything. The tanks are really clean and they have a huge selection of corals in all different price ranges which I appreciated. They have a ton of beginner corals which many shops seem to skip out on to some degree. They also have a great selection of higher end stuff. I thought the prices were fair overall, and better than some other shops in the area. The owner was really helpful as well. I will definitely be returning. They even have reptiles upstairs!

Fantastic experience: I have been to every reef shop there is in upstate New York from Rochester to buffalo and Jason and his team at Caribbean forest by far have the cleanest and organized reef shop, I drive an hour out of the way and have for the last 3 years. They have the upmost professionalism when it comes to customer service! If you have any questions about the hobby or need help in any way they will be more than willing to guide you onto the right path. Overall an outstanding shop!

Positive experience: Decent selection although their live rock is pretty limited at this time (fair amount of manufactured rock though). Fish and tanks generally appear healthy. Hardware selection is a bit less than it used to be but that makes sense with more people purchasing online.

Have yet to buy any corals from them but already have some ideas..looking forward to giving them my buisness. The owners are great and don't talk down to customers as I have experienced at other shops (freshwater). Overall the past 2 visit have been great. Already excited for our next visit as we won't be leaving without a coral.

Very supportive of bioactive setups for their animals. Excellent husbandry. I’ll be coming back here for some new plants and accessories!

Fantastic experience: Went into Caribbean Forest last week looking for pods and came home with so much more. Picked up spare parts, pods, a new copper band and some awesome knowledge. When I asked about the copperband I had them feed it because they are notoriously picky. Staff came right over and fed it and talked with me about it. I will be taking the hour and a half drive more frequently.

Fantastic experience: Beautiful salt water and coral aquariums! All kinds of tropical fish. Eye candy! Loved to take my kids here for them to see the fish and then I would buy them a seashell. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and will share facts about the fish which makes it educational. I myself would love to have a saltwater tank but don't have time to maintain. If I did this would be where I would go.
