Fantastic experience: I bought my first saltwater aquarium 1 year ago. I'm a novice when it comes to saltwater. I have a 100 gallon aquarium at my office and Ernest has been so informative- takes his time to explain everything to me. He's always fair and honest. I recommend Reef Architects, Ernest and his team.

Negative experience: Ok today I was not pleased. I came to this store for a watchman diamond goby and I got 2 assorted damsel and what I paid I started the thinking let me look it up and sure nuff the price was way different I almost got emotional but that's ok life in this world is messy. Be careful ladies and gentlemen

One worker showed me his 5 gallon betta tank and went through the plants in that tank and around the store that would be great for my tank! All the workers were very friendly! I will return soon!

There’s a wide selection of both freshwater and saltwater tanks with a variety of corals. The people here are kind and knowledgeable and will help you on your aquatic journey! I am not from Greensboro, but will visit when I am in the area!

Positive experience: My initial experience was great! They ordered fancy goldfish for me and they look healthy. After about 2 weeks I found lice on the fish and reached out to them to find a treatment. I called first and unfortunately the gentleman who answered the phone had no idea how to help. He was googling for answers. My wife texted the owner for assistance. No response and here we are 4 days later.

Fantastic experience: My wife and I visited the store, because we were desperate to get a new pond pump. Ours had gone out, and we felt that we needed a replacement. We didn't want our Koi to die, because it was going to be really hot. We told Ernest what we needed, and he did some checking while we walked around the store. A few minutes later, he came back to tell us the pump we had was most likely blocked. We had the manual, and he showed us what we needed to do to take it apart and check for a blockage. His information was spot on, and I was able to fix the pump. He could have sold us the pump we came looking for, and as it turns out did not need. Still, we would never have known that without his help. Outstanding Service.

Negative experience: Sooooo not happy about my last experience. The sad part is I have been buying fish from this store for years and now they have lost me. (I'm sure he doesn't care) anyway, I bought 3 small fish and a beta fish. The person that was helping me, I asked repeatedly if the beta could be with other fish or is it best to just keep him separate. (I don't know a lot about fish but I heard they were fighters) the worker assured me that they wouldn't be a problem and he beta would only fight other beta fish. The worker even showed me a video on his phone of his beta fish swimming around and minding his business. So I bought the fish thinking it's all good. Lesson learned! Now I'm down to only one fish! You guessed it, the beta! I call the store and asked to speak to the owner because I don't want anyone else experiencing what I experienced. My grandbabies are upset behind this! As soon as I get on the phone speaking with the owner he immediately starts getti g defensive, over talking me to shut me up, talking aggressively, and basically bullied me over the phone saying that I took a chance putting him in the tank and he's not giving me any money back. (He stressed that twice) first off, I never asked for my money back. I simply wanted to tell him him to stop his worker from telling people the wrong information. He was horrible over the phone, and he is not a good person. Not sympathetic at all to customers for him to be such a Godly man, he's terrible! Good luck when you go there, you're going to need it.

Negative experience: One of the 3 fish died in less than 24 hours and basically all I got was an oh well in so many words . $89 and that's all! Then to add fuel to the fire he says call another place and i should be charging you $50 an hour to even talk to me

It is getting harder and harder to find a Fish store that isn’t just trying to push product or give customers things they don’t need / not ready for yet. These guys are hobbyists. If they don’t know, they will tell you and what they do know is profound and worth listening to. Definitely a business worth supporting.

Fantastic experience: Ernest, his wife, and Pops were wonderful! While I’ve researched a fair amount on the trade, I am a complete novice and beginner. I came to browse and get an idea of where I wanted to start and Ernest was nice, personable, and knowledgeable! They are truly passionate about the trade and were constantly checking on the fish and corals. While I’m a novice, I’ve had beginner fish in the past and can tell that the fish and corals were very healthy and happy. There was no visible illness or physical injuries and none of the fish looked stressed. They had a very wide selection and prices were also VERY reasonable. I feel more comfortable and confident in the direction I want go in now and will definitely be back! Thank you for such wonderful customer service and welcoming experience!

Fantastic experience: One of the best place to buy high quality fish in greensboro. The stock is a little limited due to size but I've never been disappointed walking out of the store.

Positive experience: They had a good selection of fish strange store not horrible but weird the owner followed us around like we were going to steal something which made my wife uncomfortable however he was very nice the little he spoke but well priced fish and mostly clean tanks the bettas had some fin rot but everything else looked pretty healthy but very reasonably priced fish with a wide variety

Also passionate about the community and have great values!!! We stopped here today to possibly buy a fish, and ended up staying till passed closing time! I'm gonna say we spent about 2 hours mabie more, just gathering information buy 1 very knowledgeable guy!!! They both are!! Every question was answered, and just outstanding customer service. I'll go as far as to say that more than customer service, they are just incredibly genuinely nice people so it's not a "customer service " if it comes naturally. We stayed and enjoyed conversation with them well after closing and they were not trying to get rid of us!! Crazy how they made us feel like we had known them for a lifetime!! They definitely made 2 new customers today and we will happily drive an hour every time to go see them!! Outstanding business, and genuine hobbyists.

Fantastic experience: Happened upon this store while dropping DH at DMV and literally ran into the store as I live OOT & had been looking for a store like this. I have a RES (well, it’s my daughter’s but you know how that goes) and we’d just recently upgraded to a 65 gal. I was greeted by the owners who happily answered all of my questions and recommend solutions for the presented issues. I’d planned to return to pick up some aquatic plants but did not get the chance to return before my departure. Their knowledge is solid and they are very patient. You can tell they have a love for what they do and the staff they’ve hired reflect that as well. I finally felt confidence in the information I’d been given and it filled the gaps in my own independent research. Although I live several states away, I intend to become a repeat long distance customer. If you have saltwater or freshwater aquariums, or are interested in anything aquatic, I highly suggest you stop by.

Fantastic experience: My husband and I supply healthy axolotls to Reef Architects for their shop. We've always had a pleasant experience with them and our axolotls are well taken care of until they find new homes. Please be sure to do your research. Axolotls take great care. If you buy one from a shop and it dies within days, be sure you've taken all the necessary precautions prior to buying your axolotl. Axolotls are not fish, cannot be housed with other fish and require certain tank conditions as well as decor.

Fantastic experience: I've been knowing earnest and Chris very long time real nice store if they don't have it in the store they can get it for you and a very good at tell you what to put with your fish and what not to put with your fish they even helped me put my new tank together thank you all very much

Negative experience: Went there on Sunday 9-26 and got 2 Axolotos. One of them died Thursday 9-30. Called them and told them what happened the guy said to bring in a water simple so he can test but won't replace the fish. Mind you this fish was $60!! The fish didn't really eat the next day and wasn't thriving as good as the other. The fish shows no signs of being attacked by the other one. Those people are completely unprofessional. When I first went in a week prior to purchasing the fish I was told one price. When I went in a few days later I was told another. Gave them my info to contact me when they got 2 albino Axolotos they didn't. I had called in myself. The person told me they had 2 in. When I got there they did have 2 but one was way bigger than the other so I couldn't put them together and ended up getting a standard color one. DO NOT PURCHASE FISH FROM THIS PLACE!! THEY DON'T HAVE ANY GUARANTEE AND YOU WILL BE OUT OF YOUR MONEY!! $60 spent on ONE fish to live for only 4 days. Every other pet store had guarantee on expensive fish so go else where!!

Positive experience: Very clean and visually appealing black-owned shop. Most of the staff was welcoming and knowledgeable. The coral display is gorgeous although I have a freshwater tank. No sick or dying fish that I saw. They had a decent range of tropical and saltwater fish though I didn’t find the ones I was looking for which neither Petsmart or Petco had either. A teenage employee checked me out, I could tell he was inexperienced but that’s okay. He gave me one of the wrong plants luckily I checked in the car and came back to exchange it, I understand because he was learning but other employees should check behind newer ones. Overall a nice little place with healthy fish, only lost a star because I had to come back to correct my purchase.
