Fantastic experience: I stopped by Boardroom for the first time today, after accidentally coming across the name on Google the night before and I'm glad I did. Upon walking in, I could tell this was going to be a good visit. The store has a nice layout with tanks along the perimeter and huge product selection in the center..and I didn't have to walk through water on the floor like every other local store I've visited. The prices are very reasonable, which makes it easy to support a local business. I found a piece of driftwood that I liked for a Cichlid tank that I'm setting up. I had no idea that driftwood lowered pH levels and was told this would not be ideal. Any other store would have sold me the wood to make a sale. You can't beat Boardroom! I will be returning

Fantastic experience: Took my best friend and his three kids here for the first time last week. I just got done shopping there today. I have to say that out of all the reef and freshwater centered aquarium hobby shops in the area; Cape Coral included, this is probably the best shop. Not because they have the best selection, not because they have the highest end equipment. But because they have the best owners, the best pricing and the most patient staff who are actually willing to help you and spend time answering your questions, and will guide you if you’re willing to listen. For the every day hobbyist, from beginner to expert the store has a lot to offer, both in terms of livestock and accessories. It’s not pretentious and it’s certainly not overpriced.

Negative experience: They have a great range of salt and freshwater and overall pleasant people to deal with. Unfortunately I purchased some Jumbo Neon Tetras, a betta and plants recently and I’m now dealing with a bad case of Ich. 4/5 tetras have now passed as well as one of my Kuhli loaches, I’m now trying to save the last tetra, betta and the rest of my Kuhlis. Be careful with fish from here make sure to quarantine them properly before adding to a tank.

Negative experience: I’ve never done this before but this is a time I will. *Long rant coming* When I lived in St Pete I went to my usual fish store to get my saltwater for my tanks. (I have two saltwater fish tanks that I’ve been very successful with.) Before I moved to fort myers I got saltwater from my usual pet store to use when I got down here. Tanks were reset back up. Everything looked great and thriving and happy. I do my water changes regularly for these tanks to maintain the happy environment for my corals and fish. I recently went to Boardroom Aquatics to get my saltwater on 7/19/2024. I did my normal water change as I regularly do. The following day I noticed my octospawn, anemones, and mushroom were all acting weird. I started to do my water tests to see if any of my levels were high to resolve the issue. All tests came back excellent and no levels spiked to cause my corals to start acting weird. The last thing was for me to check the salinity of the saltwater that I just put into the tank. I checked the salinity of my tank and it was WAY too high. The salinity of my tanks sit at 1.024-1.026, the test results were sitting at 1.031. It may not seem like a drastic difference, but it is. I tested the saltwater that they sold me and it was sitting at 1.030 when they GUARANTEED that their salinity sits at 1.024 (hence why I went there). I called Boardroom Aquatics and informed them that the water they sold me was high in salinity and caused my corals to melt away and die. Once again I was told they keep their salinity at 1.024 and that I was doing the test wrong and getting false readings. They informed me to bring in a water sample into the store for them to test. So I did. ‍♂️ MARK started doing his test that I had done prior and got the SAME results as I did INCLUDING the high salinity level. He kept telling me that he was at a loss cause he doesn’t know what was going on in my tank to figure out why my corals have died. He told me there was room for human error, when I did the same I’ve always done when doing water changes and NEVER had any casualties. After going back and forth with the man, I walked out cause I just lost over $700 worth of corals in ONE tank. Mark was talking at me and not to me, he wasn’t willing to accept that HIS business had made a mistake and wasn’t willing to do anything to make it right. He kept trying to push the issue back onto me, when my boyfriends a marine biologist and has told me what to do when it comes to the tanks to make sure they stay happy and healthy. My boyfriends also had MANY saltwater tanks and has even had a saltwater fish business. The level on unprofessionalism that happened today was not cute, cool, or even remotely acceptable. No accountably on his end what’s so ever. Needless to say, I will never step into that store again. I will never recommend that establishment nor will I ever give them a penny. If you know anything about saltwater tanks; corals, fish, invertebrates are NOT cheap. The two anemones that melted and died due to this equal $600. Not to mention the other corals that I’ve lost. Terrible business ethics and unprofessionalism endured.

Fantastic experience: Great costumer service healthy happy fish great prices and great selection they were friendly and even gave me a crab for free I love this fish store and it's my favorite I've been too btw people who go to other fish store go give bad reviews to other fish stores so that's why there are some bad reviews they'll do it for brownie points basically to boost there store and bring others down but all that aside from that this is the best fish store around and it's really nice they even have a station so you can grab rocks and melake your own aqua scape so you know which pieces you want to buy and they also get rare common and just about any fish you wanna find they have the discus cichlids gem tang even i would definitely recommend this store it's awesome.

Positive experience: We went looking for ghost and cherry shrimp, found what we were looking for and more. Helpful staff and a great selection in a "hole in the wall" type place. On a side street, so it takes some looking but it's worth the effort.

Fantastic experience: A year ago I bought a Betta from this shop, Betta is still going strong and has grown. Healthy fish. Beautiful fish also. I switched out to a 10 gallon tank and went into the store today, to pick up some different food for my Betta, and to ask some questions about my Betta, his tank and looked into getting some Loach fish. Josh helped me out big time. Gave me a lot of knowledge about my tank and Betta's. Helped me pick out three loach's for the tank. Talked more about the filter I had, and decided to switch out to a bubbler type filter that sits on the bottom. Works awesome and my Betta loves the bubbles and is more active. Was super easy to set up and Josh showed me how to set it all up., as I'm not use to those type filters. Josh has a very pleasant personality and was very helpful with his knowledge. This is definitely the only aquarium store I will shop. Best place in SWFL surrounding areas. Great prices and nice people. Thanks Josh and Boardroom Aquariums! Would give 10 stars if could.

Fantastic experience: As a new tank owner, it's really comforting to be able to ask a lot of questions! Everyone here is so helpful and patient. Sophia is the go to for freshwater fish, but all of the employees are passionate about fish. You can tell they love their job and it's consistently been the same helpful team!

The team at Boardroom will ask in depth questions and get to the bottom of the problem without the goal of solely pushing their stock. Almost as if they care about your aquarium as much as you do. Probably more. In addition, they have a healthy stock of corals, fish, and any accessories or additives you might need for your tanks. From experts, to new in the hobby, they can help you. Fantastic experience: Recently in town for an installation and I was very thankful to find Boardroom they had almost all the parts I was shorted and a particularly nice selection of loc-line parts. The displays were sweet and so was the staff.

Negative experience: They sold me the 2 plant eating snails with my new plants. My whole tank is ruined. The plants I did buy, delivered tons of baby pest snails. The employee misinformed me on every question we asked. Kinda upsetting. I was hoping to love this place. Two employees told me completely opposite things which I guess is fine because everyone has opinions. I'll do more research myself before purchasing next time. Thanks for listening.

Fantastic experience: I visited every single aquarium store in fort myers and Cape Coral this past week being new to the hobby. All I can say is nothing beats the knowledge the owner mark has to offer. From recommendations on fish choice down to understanding water chemistry that’s safe for fish and corals. Personally I’m the type of person to ask questions and mark offered all of the answers with a smile. Would recommend visiting this place and poking around.

Negative experience: I just left. I stood around for 10 minutes trying to get help to buy a blue African Ciclid,and no one seemed motivated to help. There was a young lady at the register,who looked right at me,but decided not to come over. So I finally just left....And I see a worker outside on his phone. Smh. I probably won't be back. Place is far too expensive to receive shi*ty service. Ill just order online going forward.

Fantastic experience: Great selection of saltwater and freshwater stuff, beautiful clean tanks and healthy fish! Lots of really cool saltwater coral and fish, lots of different types of clownfish and cool saltwater shrimps and invertebrates. They were lacking a bit in variety of freshwater fish but the friendly staff informed us it was because we were there the day before they get thier shipment of freshwater fish in so it was a little picked over. Just wish the prices/names of fish were better displayed so we didnt have to bother the employees so much but other than that, this place is great! Got 5 guppies and they are happy and thriving in my tank!

Fantastic experience: If you have ever had an aquarium in your life, stop in here. Simply amazing to see all of this in one place! I have an older brother who would absolutely loose his mind and quite possibly his savings account here. Knowing that you can build whatever size aquarium you can afford here is tempting but always keep in mind that it requires a lot of attention & upkeep. Just like if you purchased any animal that is relying on you for everything to stay alive and healthy. Cool place & will return when I have the time and means to support a tank full of fishies. Now, fresh or saltwater? Plenty of time to decide. Oh yeah, the people are nice & know their stuff!!

Fantastic experience: Mark and his very knowledgeable staff are always there to figure out any problem and really go the extra mile. I’ve been into fish most of my life, but even experienced fish keepers have problems and I was totally stumped 3-4months after rehoming my discus and setting up a planted 125 gal. They pinpointed my problem with by testing my water with more advanced testing than API test kit and had me up and running in no time. I’ve learned and continue to learn more about the hobby I love. That’s why I drive 50 minutes one way to get there. Mark also drove the 50 minutes to bring and set up my 125 g tank and he is a perfectionist. Would you want anything else when dealing with 125 gallons? I didn’t know Mark very well at their previous location as he was always busy with the salties, but since I’ve gotten to know him, I’ve found him to be honest, well versed in all aspects of fish keeping and always there for me. He once met me on his way home to bring me medication for a sick tank I needed to treat ASAP. I still tease him about the drug deal we made in the parking lot that night. LOL Whether your a newbie, an old salt or somewhere in between, you won’t find a better place than Boardroom Aquariums.

Fantastic experience: I wish I can give more than 5 stars!! I’ve been coming here for over 2 years. The owner is very knowledgeable and has helped me start a freshwater tank and now I have moved onto a saltwater tank. He came to my home to fill up my tank and is currently assisting me on building up my saltwater tank. Every single time I go to his store he gives me his full attention no matter how many people are in the store. I have gone to other local stores and NO ONE else does that or can beat the quality, service and professionalism. The store is always clean no matter what time of day you go. All tanks look healthy and clean. I only plan on going to this store as long as I’m in this hobby.

Fantastic experience: They helped us fix an algae issue in our 125 gallon tank by suggesting a Fosfate remover they had along with some Apple Snails. Their tanks are very clean and well maintained. Highly recommend!

Negative experience: I’m so upset at the Bad service here but Due to COVID they were the only Aquarium place open late and every time I buy something here I always end up with hitchhikers !

Negative experience: I drive here from Port Charlotte because they are the best. Super nice and willing to educate you if you don't know something. Huge selection of reasonably priced corals and fish, both fresh and saltwater. Update 8-6-2020 Recently went back after having not gone for a while to stock a new 230 gallon tank I had set up. Lots has changed, the owner isnt there as often and it shows. Apestasia found in nearly all of the tanks, also didn't notice one of the fish I purchased had ich. My bad for trusting them as I used to and not quarenteening new fish, but the $400 in fish I bought that day ended up dying and wiping out about $1000 in other fish I'd had for YEARS with the ich. So $1400 down the drain. I'll find a new store that has standards and sticks to them.

Fantastic experience: Stopped by today to check this place out. Cleanest aquarium store I have ever been to. I was speaking with an employee who turned out to be the owner. Asked him a bunch of questions and he was enthusiastically interested in helping. Meanwhile the store was packed and he still wanted to help out. I felt bad, but tried not to keep him that long. It’s places like this that we need to support as they are doing the right thing for the fish. Keep up the good work, I will certainly be back.
