Negative experience: I have been a customer and recommending this store for years. I put a large pleco on a 24 hour hold, they took my name and phone number. I came back the next day to pick it up, they recognized me instantly and said they had sold the fish. They did not even call me to inform that I shouldn't make the drive. Horrible service. I will not be returning.

Fantastic experience: I went into this place yesterday, customer service was pheno-menal, the person on the phone was very nice when informing me about their lobsters, and once I got to the store, Mason helped me, and answered all questions I had about caring for my new blue lobster friend. Negative experience: Have bought a handful of fish and each one has died in our tank we've had for 5+ years and we've talked to them and all they have to say is oh there isn't we can do. We do not recommend them or will never buy any fish from there. If you have money to flush down the drain and get treated terribly by their employees go ahead.

Fantastic experience: i've visited this spot a few times now and as a newbie, i always appreciate being able to ask questions from the employees here. shout out to the guy with longer hair and glasses (didn't catch his name!) who helped me pick out some snails and food to go with the gorgeous koi betta i got yesterday. my new pets acclimated easily and look healthy! betta has a good appetite and is very active and curious about his new surroundings. i will continue coming here over a chain store any time! looking forward to coming back for another tank setup or just to check out what's in stock.
Negative experience: We’ve spent a lot of money at this location over time, but after today’s experience, I’m seriously reconsidering that. I’ve never encountered such blatantly unprofessional and sexist behavior from an employee—specifically, the tall man with glasses who assisted my fiancé and me. While I was asking questions, he was condescending, dismissive, and spoke to me like I was clueless. The moment my fiancé joined the conversation, his attitude flipped—suddenly he was respectful, helpful, and all smiles. The difference in how he treated us was not subtle and frankly, it was insulting. If this is the standard of customer service here, especially toward women, then it’s a major problem. This employee clearly needs additional training—not just in customer interaction, but in basic human decency and respect. No one spending their hard-earned money deserves to be treated like that.

Fantastic experience: While there was one female that told me she was too busy to help me as she walked away, two gentlemen seemingly jumped on the opportunity to help me. I needed a complete setup and both gentlemen recommended items. Nothing they offered seemed unnecessary. I spent nearly $150 less than I expected! Kudos to the team there….well except for you, lil’ miss I can’t be bothered.
Fantastic experience: Nice selection of saltwater fish and corals. It's the only place I know of that has live rock. The staff is really knowledgeable and very friendly
Negative experience: Drove down from out of state since this is the closest store with saltwater fish that isn't a Petco. I double checked the stock list in the morning before driving down to be sure they had the fish I was interested in. When we got there almost all of the fish I was looking for weren't there. Furthermore, we were in the store for a full 25 minutes before any employee addressed us and when they did they were clearly not pleased to be dealing with a customer. There were dead fish in at least 3 of the tanks and if it werent for the fact I had just driven 3 and a half hours to get there I would not have gone home with anything. Would definitely not recommend. Update: Both fish are now dead a week after bringing them home. If I could give 0 stars I would.
Fantastic experience: I finally found Red Root Floater. If you're my buddy, I've been talking about finding this plant for at least 6 months but I'm scared of snailing my aquarium. Thanks ❤️
Negative experience: This place used to be pretty great, but that era has long since drown in its own hubris. You literally cannot go in and avoid finding dead fish in almost half the tanks, the wrong species cohabitating with things actively killing them, mislabeled breeds, and even blatant, fully fledged abuse by having massive fish in tanks they can't even turn around in. This place is dreadful. The animal abuse propagated by them is bewildering. They have long since stopped caring for their animals. Then there are the conditions of what sorry fish you do buy. Ick. They always, ALWAYS have ick. Even back when they bothered to take out their rotting fish, everything we get from them always has ick. Hospital tanks are a MUST from this place. Lastly, the people. They are extremely hit or miss. Sometimes they'll be saints, other times they'll be the dregs of humanity. One day they'll tell you they can't reserve a fish that they order in for you, the next they say someone else reserves the fish they ordered in for YOU. Sometimes they'll know plenty about a niche subsect of nearly any species, other times you'll hear them telling parents that a Beta can thrive in a one gallon without a heater or filter. This place is as pompous as it is disastrous. If you're thinking of going, don't let me stop you. Go for yourself. Waltz in and look at 10 different tanks. I'm willing to bet money that you'll see some corpses. I've never gone in and managed to avoid finding one that has clearly been in there for days.
Fantastic experience: This is such a cool store with all types of fish, both fresh and salt water! The price is pretty comparable to someplace like Petco where we've gotten fish for our tank in the past; so glad to have found a local spot instead! The two employees we talked to were super knowledgeable and gave great advice on what fish we should get for our community tank.

Fantastic experience: This store was awesome. I am planning on starting a reef aquarium and these guys are very knowledgeable and very helpful. Unfortunately their saltwater selection is kind of small but they have everything you would need to at least get the tank started and some fish and coral you can put in the tank.
Fantastic experience: Ethan was super helpful when it came time to add fish and shrimp to my new freshwater tank. As a new fish keeper I really appreciate the knowledge and advice the crew provides.
Fantastic experience: This is the nicest aquarium store I've ever been to. The prices on their tanks looked way lower than what I've seen at the big chain retailers, not to mention healthier fish. If you have a sick fish, they carry the treatments that the others don't. Huge variety of live plants, saltwater corals & anemones, and tank decor. Their saltwater display tanks are impressive! The staff are happy to help without being annoyed if you're just browsing. I'm not a fish enthusiast, for the record, but my kid is. It is definitely worth driving past the other pet supply stores to come here!

Negative experience: I don't understand how this place stays in business. I walked into the store ten minutes ago. Tried to make contact with three different employees who were too busy chatting to acknowledge me. I was the only customer there. I would seriously like the owner of the store to contact me. Negative experience: Decent selection of fresh and salt fish and inverts. Though the reason I decided to review if awareness. I started a new tank cycle and only put two live plants I bought here in, nothing else. Since then I noticed two white worms, triangle heads on glass(planaria)that i sucked out and hoping theres no more since its a shrimp and snail tank. I notified them that their live plant tanks had planaria and it was pretty much a shoulder shrug. Just be careful and its up to you the buyer to dip in planaria meds prior to putting in your tank or get infested with planaria. Youre welcome.

Positive experience: Want to preface this review. I am an enthusiastic fish keeper. I have 8-9 tanks up at the moment. I drive all over the front range to different non-chain stores for different fish or equipment. I’ve been to different fish keeping events and gatherings in the past. I still consider my self a newbie-enthusiast. This is my closest non-chain store and I’ve been coming here two years now. The store its self is great. Selection is good, pricing is fair-ish but not enough to shop elsewhere due to the quality of the livestock, drystock selection and it’s a cool place to visit. All that being said, over the past 6mo or so everyone I’ve interacted with has just become cold and transactional, it makes me not want to shop there. Little care in what I was up to, like a Petco transaction. No questions to make sure I’m not about to kill whatever I bought or making sure I’m not about to poison my tank. If I just wanted a transaction I would shop online but I shopped here for the experience, expertise along with the product, this is why I’m willing to pay a little more. Sometimes I don’t know what I don’t know. I’ll continue to shop here, but only when I need to because of location. You guys have done better in the past in my personal, completely subjective, point of view.
Negative experience: Mason was incredibly rude to my daughter who asked for help buying plants. He ended the entire experience by tossing the receipt at her because she didn't put her money back into her wallet fast enough. Obviously we won't be back

Positive experience: Beautiful store, amazing fresh & saltwater displays. Prices on some of the fresh water fish are definitely steep. Other then that very nice store.
Negative experience: Your staff needs to work on being warm and friendly. I thought I would come in and give it another try. Again I was completely ignored and I felt bad for asking a question. This store used to be friendly and helpful. I most definitely won’t ever be going back. I gave the store two stars because the shop has always been clean with lots of good products, but the staff also needs to be more interactive with customers. I didn’t buy anything due to not being helped.
Fantastic experience: We absolutely love fish crew. I go here way too often! They are knowledgeable and take better care of their stock than other fish stores in the area. My favorite to buy are plants for my aquarium. They don’t always have the same things so you have many options to choose from! I love that they have their inventory listed on their website! You can browse and see if they have anything interesting. I would recommend them over any other pet store for newbies into the aquarium hobby. They will set you on the right path unlike the people at the big pet stores.
Negative experience: I've been coming here for two years. The staff is very knowledgeable and they usually have exactly the supplies I need. But I am no longer going to buy fish from them. Twice my fish have come down with a disease after I brought home fish from The Fish Crew. I really should have quarantined their fish. Shooting myself for that. I had not added any new fish or plants into my tank for three months. Then I got Siamese Algae Eaters from them and now my fish have a disease. This is the second time this has happened. I recommend Petsmart. I've never had a problem with their fish or plants.
Positive experience: I came in today to get a betta fish, but I was very disappointed. I usually love this place for plants and schooling fish, and the bettas typically look awesome. when I came in, every single betta looked dull and/ or sick. every betta looked like they had velvet disease, finrot, and/or ich. it was very sad as I was super excited to pick up a new fishy friend

Positive experience: I had a great first experience with Trader yesterday, getting my aquarium fully equipped with live plants, a cleaning crew, 3 dwarf puffers, and 1 dwarf gourami. I got my water tested and was all set to go. Unfortunately one of the puffers died almost immediately, but all the other newer inhabitants are acclimating very well! I had called the store ahead of time to get a full understanding of their return/swap policy and was told I needed "the dead fish body, a water sample, and my receipt." They specified no further. Upon going back to the store with all of the listed required materials, I was met with hostile "customer service" by what I discovered to be THE OWNER. Being very polite I presented my samples, my receipt, and my water test from 24 hours prior. Matt was very quick to dismiss me, and very aggressively. I felt very intimidated by again, THE OWNER who was speaking to me in a very demeaning tone, like I had done something wrong. I tried to explain that I had called earlier and had asked about the policy, and it had not been specified that the body of the fish needed to be separated from the water sample (again, very politely). I was immediately and sternly interrupted and treated like a dumb blonde. The owner just kept repeating "nope, not gonna fly. It's stated CLEARLY on your receipt," exaggeratingly pointing to my receipt as if obviously I should know all the ins and outs as a first time customer. I spent over $100 on all of my materials and fish and was met with less than sub-par quality customer service by owner of the establishment. Trader, Ethan, and Emma provided the best service by far and if I do decide to continue shopping there I will only do so with them. But how I was treated today nearly sent me out the door in tears because of how heavily intimidated I was by the harsh and aggressive verbal treatment of the owner. Thank you Trader, Emma, and Ethan! But the upper management desperately needs to be addressed for their poor treatment of a first time customer. It truly was outrageous. **UPDATE** I returned to the store hoping to get better service and I sure did! The manager on duty, Emma, apologized for the horrific experience and thanked me for returning. Ethan tended to my needs diligently and answered my questions with a surplus of knowledge! Overall, my experience with the crew at Fish Crew has been phenomenal. I commend them for being able to recover such a horrendously fumbled situation bred by upper management. All three of them deserve a raise

Fantastic experience: This store was wonderful. The staff are so kind and extremely knowledgeable. The staff helped me set up my entire tank and gave me plenty of advice and help while gathering the necessary supplies. I asked lots of questions and they were so eager and happy to help. The fish and plants at this store are extremely healthy and well maintained and the prices are reasonable. 10/10 experience.
Fantastic experience: The staff is extremely knowledgeable. I’m a novice at growing aquarium plants I’ve always had plastic ones. They took the time to answer my questions and provide me additional support each time I came in needing additional information. Not to mention that the fish that I’ve gotten from there have been extremely healthy and that hasn’t been the case everywhere I’ve gone.

Fantastic experience: Wonderful fish store. Store is warm, brightly lit, spacious. They also have a small toy section for children and mini fridge with drinks which is nice touch. When you first walk in there is a beautiful fresh water and salt water display tank. Inside the store is a massive display tank with various large fish. Fish are well taken care of. Beautiful plant selection. Decent selection of rocks and driftwood (when in stock, driftwood goes quick!). Absolutely love that their website has their current IN STORE fish and plant list. Makes it really easy to see current inventory without driving over. They also have a reasonable amount of stock. I love that they will wait until a species is gone, before stocking the tank with more. The well-being of the fish is priority over profit. They also have the date listed when the fish arrived on each tank. Over the past few months we have gotten about various shrimp and plants, and 28 freshwater fish, . All healthy, happy and doing well after short bag float/drip acclimation. I believe they do preventative medication for at least some of the fish. I don't have a separate quarantine tank so this is the only place I trust for fish. All staff is polite and helpful. Sometimes they might be busy and can't help immediately but that is understandable at a small store. Knowledge is mixed but they are always happy to direct you to another staff member if not sure. I've never had any issues and appreciate their advice. I've had one member question my fish choice because they were concerned I didn't have a big enough tank. I am so appreciate of that, it really demonstrates care for fish. I wish more businesses would do that. Also, I always judge a fish store by the betta care. Fish Crew does not disappoint! The store itself is warm, and bettas are placed in x-large open containers with clean water. I have never seen one sick or dead. They also have some in aquariums. Personally I feel that they could reduce their betta stock. The large quantity makes it to easy for an impulse buy, rather than researching and cycling minimum 5 gallon tank, with heater and filter. I understand though they are also trying to compete with big box stores so it is a delicate balance. Maybe a sign with proper betta care could be placed next to the display? Good selection of food, meds, filters, lights, heaters, tanks and equipment. They also have a rewards system which gives you a small discount off . Overall, fantastic store which I highly recommend to anyone looking for healthy fish. Also just enjoyable place to visit and walk around.
Fantastic experience: Good in the Fish Crew store is kind of like a field trip to an aquarium. So much to look at! Sometimes we've had to wait our turn to speak to an employee, but -- so much to look at! The employees are very knowledgeable and helpful.

Negative experience: Rude employees that are annoyed to answer questions. For a while I liked coming down to this shop but the last few trips have been lackluster. I’ve never run a planted tank before and the guy that helped me seemed extremely annoyed that I didn’t know how many plants I needed for my tank sizes. I’ve normally just used canister filters for my tanks. This was my first go at building a planted one and boy howdy did you put a bad taste in my mouth. I have no idea how fast they grow, that’s why I was asking for your advice dude. Also was very annoying to get the condescending tone when I asked for two plecos. Yes I’ve had them before, currently I already have one common and two bristle nose. Currently my basement has 6 aquariums ranging from 10 gallon to 220. yes I am well aware of how large they can get. I’m currently running a 220 gallon tank for my bass until my pond is finished this summer. I want large bottom feeders as my bass are around 9in currently and like to eat anything small enough to fit in their mouths. I don’t need you assuming I don’t know anything about fish. This was the last time I shop here.

Fantastic experience: Stopped by yesterday looking for stuff for my new shrimp tank. My Mom recommended it, the store is beautiful, they have good stuff. A bit pricey but that is understandable. Emma was super sweet and helpful. Overall an amazing store. Great for people just getting into fish/shrimp keeping.

Negative experience: Called to see about filter equipment guy was very rood un helpful told me I needed to update my equipment call his competition and they said yes we usually have at least one in stock looks like someone bought it it will be a week before I get another in but hold I think I have a kit that I can take one out of and took it out of the kit a sold it to me if wasn't for the other fish store my 150gal tank probably would be shut down with a lot of dead stock in it so I don't recommend this store to anyone who has a saltwater hobby. Well fish crew is off my list again called asking for advice about hair alage and the worker tells me he doesn't really know what to do about it. I asked what do you do for it when it's in your aquarium. Oh we just tear it down and start over. Hmmm well us customers hobbyists do have that luxury. So once again I recommend going to a different lfs. Such horrible service and no help let me just try to spend your money..

Fantastic experience: Very clean space, nice layout, and the fish look waaay happier than the ones at PetSmart! Didn’t know fish were all that expressive till I saw the comparison, haha. The staff have been super helpful and always present to answer my silly questions. Only two issues: I felt pretty lost trying to cycle my first tank and needed to use YouTube to supplement their advice; and once I got an inaccurate reading on a water test that almost caused me to take emergency measures for a tank that turned out fine. But that may have been due to me contaminating the sample somehow. Overall great shop!
Fantastic experience: I love this fish store. The fish are a bit on the expensive side but it is by far the nicest fish store I have visited. They sell both salt and fresh water fish.
Positive experience: Despite being the only fish store in Fort Collins besides the big box stores, it's a good store. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful and they always seem to be sufficiently staffed so that everyone can get help without standing around waiting for 15 minutes. The selection of plants is phenomenal and their natural decor is nice too. The brands of stuff they sell are high quality. The selection of fish available isn't all that great and some of their prices are ridiculous. Example: $20 for a bala shark. So I tend to buy all my plants and aquarium/fish supplies here but not the fish themselves.
Fantastic experience: Such a great store. They will help you figure out what you need for your aquarium. The giant aquarium is magical to watch. I love watching the eel. I get my plants here and they re-home fish if you seem to have bought a virgin Mary guppy from Petco who pops out fry every month.

Fantastic experience: Best fish store I have shopped at, very knowledgeable staff tons of extra stuff.
Negative experience: Service is extremely slow; nobody is ever at the register and if you ring the bell for service you're still ignored. 2 stars because they stock some decent dry goods and frozen food but need to keep someone at the register for quick purchases. Not everyone is there setting up their first tank. I wouldn't personally buy any livestock there. Fish look direct from wholesale and corals are stressed, look like trade in. Make sure to carefully dip and quarantine livestock if you. There are much better options around town and the area. This is about the same as Petco but without a way to checkout. Serious aquarists will want to go elsewhere or online.
Fantastic experience: EMMA!!!! My husband and I have been going to Fish Crew for a few years now and have always had a great experience! Emma in particular is the absolute best! She is always going around checking on customers, making sure any questions are answered. We will wait all day for her to finish with others, just to get her help with a single plant or fish!! She’s AMAZING!!
Fantastic experience: Great little shop for keep pet fish! Our elementary school sometimes even walks over here for field trips as it feels like an aquarium inside! All the people working there are full of knowledge and helpful. Highly recommend!

Negative experience: Most staff is awesome but, one of them made sure I wouldn't go to this store again. I spent a lot of money in that store (hundreds) and felt well taken care of until the day I asked a guy if they had stock of female bettas, he answered back rudely to the effect that I should check their online stock instead of showing up at the store. I brushed it off and asked if they'd consider trading-in or adopting my Kuhli loaches (had unexpected babies and now I have 50+). He lost it and abruptly interrupted me to repeat "go to the website". OK dude, you don't want me there - I'm gone and my dollars also. Also, I don't give a rat's ash about the google tags saying your store is rainbow-friendly, black-owned etc... I want a Decent-Person-Owned customer service, that's what I need. And I don't care about the color, the look, the smell that it presents. Thank you.

Fantastic experience: When I tell you! I’ve been retired from Freshwater to get into something harder like Saltwater! This store has some of the most detailed and professional art tanks I’ve ever seen in the fresh water hobby! I want to thank the staff yesterday that runs on Saturday shifts for an amazing quick and professional level of action and last minute tear down on one of the displayed tanks for sale! I’ve heard the General Manager/Owner of the store designed this beautiful piece and just knew I had to get it! I want to thank Him and the staff for an excellent purchase! And that’s why it’s called the fish crew! A crew striving for excellence.

Positive experience: The set up is great, you are able to clearly see all the aquariums, but it does not feel claustrophobic like most fish stores do. The only reason this was a 4 star review/visit is because an employee continued to question my choices telling me that I was doing things wrong in my tank at home even though I explained I have multiple tanks more than once. I do not appreciate all my choices being judged and questioned rudely by an employee

Fantastic experience: Had a great experience here! We visited after having a horrible time at petco with rude unhelpful employees, and this experience was the complete opposite. Multiple people offered us help and were knowledgeable and gave us good advice on what to get. Would definitely recommend supporting this store over anywhere else, they care about what they sell and are super friendly.
Negative experience: I've been shopping here since I set my tank up. I just don't know why, but they have the worst fish loss of anywhere I've bought from. I've bought from petco with better results! Since my last purchase there, I've decided that was the last dollar they'll get from me.

Negative experience: We visited this store on a Saturday from WY, since all we have here is Petco (and our Petco is just awful). I looked at the stock list before visiting and so had an idea of what I wanted going in. I've kept aquariums off and on for about 30 years, and I very much wanted to love this store. Unfortunately, the staff didn't seem like they really wanted to help, or were just annoyed that I didn't know what I wanted right away? We were asked if we needed help 2 or 3 times within the first 5 minutes of entering the store, then had to wave some unhappy soul down after we'd finally been given time to browse. The fish stock seemed to be mostly very small babies not showing any coloration, which is why I had a difficult time deciding what I actually wanted. I was a bit concerned how fragile they would be, and they all ended up dying. The freshwater plants I bought from here also haven't done great for me. This store came as a recommendation from friends but, I can't honestly pass that along after this initial experience.

Fantastic experience: I have to agree with all the YouTube videos. They have the best smelling and cleanest fish store I have ever been to. Staff is usually knowledgeable but if they aren't, they won't try to make stuff up, they will go and ask. Really appreciate that from a fish store.

The fish and tanks look very healthy, the employees are super knowledgeable, great selection of plants, fish, snails, shrimp, etc. They will even do a water test on your tank water for a small fee. Helped me identify issues I was having in my tank. Would give 10 stars if I could!

Negative experience: This store has a good selection of fish but the employees are very rude and talk down to you. I’ve grew up with a big fish tank in my house and have a tank now so I’m pretty knowledgeable about taking care of fish and do research before I buy a certain fish but every time I go into this store to get a fish they make me feel like I’m incapable of buying one. I’ve been in this store about 5 times and every time was awful because the employees think they know more than you and talk you out of buying a fish. If this stores goal is to not sell fish then they would get a 5/5 stars. I’ve talked to other people who have visited this store and they have the same experience. Don’t go here if you actually want to buy a fish because they will make up excuses as to why you would be a bad caretaker.

Positive experience: We started up our 55 gal saltwater tank. We have had a 30 gal saltwater tank for like 6 years. We cycled the 55 for months. We've had saltwater tanks for over 40 years. We came in for a specific fish. The employee I had to ask to help us after us trying to be polite was awful. We were one of 2 customers in the store. We were going to buy some snails and he talked us out of them because he knew best. Lost business. Tanner at the register was good however hence the 3 stars.

Fantastic experience: I've been back several times. Freindly, helpful, and knowledgable staff. The store can be busy so I'd call it a popular place. They have salt water and freshwater supplies. They have some amazing tanks to enjoy so plan on a little extra time. They also do water testing if you bring a sample (not a dip stick test but a spin test). They helped solve some algae issues we had with our tank.
Negative experience: I was quoted a price of $75/hour to clean my 35 gallon non-planted fresh water tank. The person I spoke with said that it would likely take less than an hour. Tanner arrived and said that it would be $125/hour but he would give me a slight discount to $100/hour. I had to ask politely for him to clean the algae in the corners and on the gravel after he said that he was finished and was packing up to leave.
Fantastic experience: Friendly knowledgeable staff! Got my water tested with them and got helpful hints to get parameters where I wanted them. Great plant and fish selection. My go to for my aquarium needs.

Fantastic experience: This place has been a tremendous help to me as I began my saltwater journey, some of the employees have become almost like family with their love of sharing knowledge and tips as I navigate the scary seas of corals which has always been a lifelong dream. The store is clean, well kept, and honestly the best you’ll find in northern colorado particularly. I remember vividly my first trip in and (I kid you not I would go everyday of the week while setting up my first tank, particularly since I had just moved to the area) the staff particularly Simon gave me great advice on how to set up a budget friendly reef tank with some outstanding coral recommendations. I’ve never felt pushed or persuaded to buy anything but I love going broke because of this place.
Positive experience: Pretty cool place to go, the employees are nice and try to answer your questions. The website kinda sucks, and the return policy was gone back on because they had shipping issues, which is kinda shady. Nice co2 setups and good supplies. Wish there was more variety of aquascape equipment.

Fantastic experience: Excellent local fish store. The staff are knowledgeable and happy to answer questions or help you find anything you need. The critters appear to be healthy and well cared for, no dead fish floating in every tank like a lot of the chain stores. Good selection of animals as well.
