Negative experience: We will never be going back and we have been going for years. They are great until you have an issue! We purchased multiple fish at $30+ each and one died. It was "hours" over the 48 hour policy and they would do nothing! The worst part was how rude the woman in the fish department was! She was all nice when we were spending $! Awful customer service! I get the over 48 hrs but the attitude was unbelievable!

Fantastic experience: The best saltwater fish store in the area. After several months of conversations with their fish guy about the hobby I'm sure I'm on the right track with my home reef tank. Fantastic experience: I always go her for my bird's food, only place I will get it, my canary, finches and parakeet seem happiest when I buy it from here. They service is always top notch and they are always friendly here. I have also bought fish from here in the past and they are very knowledgeable about their stock.

Positive experience: Stopped in for the first time today. All three employees I spoke to were kind and very helpful. Very impressive collection of fish! My only criticism is in regards to the reptiles, specifically the ball pythons, baby boa and the large bearded dragon. All of the ball pythons and the small boa had aspen as a substrate. Ball pythons can only be kept on aspen bedding in climates with high humidity, and even then it's not recommended. Low humidity can cause respiratory infections, and aspen bedding doesn't hold humidity at all. This is a bad example to set for customers purchasing these creatures. Also, ball pythons are very shy by nature and need someplace to hide. None of the reptile tanks had hides, a basic requirement. Not having a hide causes distress. The large bearded dragon seemed severely stressed out by his tiny glass aquarium. He was literally shaking while pacing around, something I've never seen a bearded dragon do. He also didn't have a hide to provide him with relief from the patrons in the shop. ***In response to the reply from the owner: I know what I saw. The ball pythons were housed in glass aquariums with aspen bedding and no hides. Please post pictures with the updated enclosures in which you use cypress mulch and give the poor creatures hides. Also if the bearded dragon came from a bad environment give the distressed animal some relief with a hide and a large enclosure suitable for it's size.

Fantastic experience: I stopped in to check out the fish, and also to drop off a bunch of guppies I was given to cycle a new tank. They were polite and helpful, and they have a great selection of fish and absolutely STUNNING corals. They also have some other interesting pets. I didn't buy anything this time, but I'll definitely buy from them in the future.

Fantastic experience: Went there with my wife to look at rabbits and fell in love with this place. They are very knowledgeable and are more then happy to talk with you and answer any questions you may have. We ended up getting a rabbit for my wife and I grabbed some snails for my tank which if your looking for fish They have the biggest selection I have seen in many years. And unlike most store it's not a lot of the same fish over and over but they have a wide selection of fish I had never seen till going there. Definitely will be going back.

Fantastic experience: Best petstore I've ever been to! Often, petstores don't take care of their animals well which cause shorter lifespans as well as overall health. But Animal instincts cares for their animals very well and clearly know a lot about them. The employees are so helpful and kind.

Fantastic experience: This is a late review, but I wanted to thank the nice lady that worked in the fish department. I went there asking for advice for my sick black moor golfish, she was very professional and knew what she was talking about. She recommended me an antibiotic that saved the life of my fish. Thank you!

Positive experience: I do love shopping here when it comes to all of my rabbit needs. However the selection they have for cat food has me disappointed. I wanted to be able to do more shopping here and support them more. However I am not sure considering the selection in cat food.

Fantastic experience: I wanted to thank the coral guy. For months I have been having difficulty with my torch coral. He was extremely knowledgeable, suggested I started tracking mag levels more closely, now my torn is much happier and healtier.

Fantastic experience: Caring. The friends they sell are all FRIENDLY and well taken care of. The staff is very nice and never pushy or on top of you. This is very important when getting a pet so there’s as little stress on the animal or the owner. Nothing worse than a salesperson forcing something so important. These folks care. They’ve let me take all the time I needed observing behaviors and temperaments when buying my family’s rabbits. Big pet stores can be helpful in a pinch but, if at all possible, make Animal Instincts your go to for your pets needs and your animals will thank you. Fantastic experience: I came in for the first time this afternoon and to say I was blown away is an understatement. I have never seen such a wide selection of healthy, happy fish. When someone was available to talk to me, I was carefully guided through all my options and shown the highest level of customer care I could ask for. They weren't pushy or pretentious at all but definitely passionate about the hobby and want you to succeed. They're even special ordering goldfish for me if available, no deposit or commitment required. I walked out with $80 worth of plants, fish, and food (a very reasonable price for everything I got) and a renewed excitement for my tanks. Can't thank you guys enough!

Fantastic experience: Best pet store around! the animal care, the knowledge of the employees, the selection of items and quality is far beyond what you would expect from a local chain store. i recently bought a leopard gecko from here with the help of Anna, one of the employees who has been there 10+ years. she was very helpful and definitely knew what she was talking about. I heard of the place asking around where i could buy dubias for my bearded dragon (the only place around that sells any other feeders that crickets) and after i saw the geckos i knew i had to come back for a certain one i fell in love with. He is absolutely beautiful, acclimated perfectly is in impeccable condition. i also made sure to get some snacks for my dogs, they had an amazing selection of good quality brands i’d never even seen before. So so happy i found this place and my boy!

Negative experience: Horrible place. I had 2 birds die in less than a month of each purchase. They had no compassion whatsoever. I was even asked for the bodies and receipts. The first bird was buried and of course I didn’t have the receipt we had the bird 3 weeks at that point . I still went back and brought another bird because pet smart didn’t have any going against my better judgment I got another one from here . Low and behold it dies also… I find it hard to believe it’s only the birds brought from this store that died . I could have been offered points, treats etc because I definitely wouldn’t want another pet from here . The girl in the store had an attitude because I asked for some credit or something since it’s happened twice . Maybe their system should show what was purchased when your number is entered like other places. Highly recommend NOT buying from here ESPECIALLY birds..

Negative experience: Very over priced on everything I looked at. one girl worked hard to help the customers while the other two employees just talked. Five of the rudest people in FR happened to stroll in while I was there, between talking extremely loudly over each other, and arguing about who's missing more teeth out soundly like they rented the apartments behind the store and the store owner was their landlord. (I could of heard that wrong though as I was distracted by the heavy odor of alcohol coming off them. Did I mention it was a Tuesday at 10:30am?)

Fantastic experience: Animal Instincts is hands down one of the best pet supply stores in the area. We have gotten two amazing Viper Geckos from them and food for our Bearded Dragons at least twice a week. Everyone is helpful and willing to share their knowledge with you. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: It's about time I leave this review . My absolute favorite local shop to go to for my pet needs whether that be my snake or my salt water aquarium . I've gotten to know the employees pretty well, especially Shane in the fish section . He cares about quality rather than just selling items . He convinced me not to buy something because it wasn't quality . Extremely knowledgeable guy and extremely helpful for getting me back into the hobby again .

Fantastic experience: Can't stop coming back here. First bought a guinea pig, healthy and happy, and now I'm addicted to their fish. Very knowledgeable staff and the healthiest animals I've seen available to public. Be prepared to spend a little more than at a chain store, but the quality and peace of mind regarding animal care is well worth it. They can also order in any aquatics you'd need from their own reputable breeders, and the owners often will personally hand pick the selections rather than bulk order.

Negative experience: Conflicting information from staff on setting up a new pet habitat and needed supplies. Prices are super high... $89 here vs $39 at Pet$mart for the same pet. 3 weeks in and a dying pet because 3 workers have all told us different things about what we need and how the others are wrong.

Negative experience: Customer service is absolutely horrible here I have never been spoken to as I was in this store today I will be telling everyone I know just how I was treated if you dont know everything about your pet do not come here they will just give you an extreme attitude!!!

Fantastic experience: I highly reccomend this shop. After looking for a crested gecko for awhile I was told to check this shop out. Very helpful staff!!! The shop is set up nice and not to mention their prices are extremely reasonable. First place I had been to that I did not feel I was being ripped off. Their geckos were all adorable .. Negative experience: Me and my boyfriend have been going here RELIGIOUSLY for a year and a half now and even before we met we both came here for all our pet needs , just recently I purchased fish from them that died within 24 hours i asked for a refund or new fish and got told no. Me and my boyfriend spent thousands in this store we even have given plants & fish to them FOR FREE !! I purchased a fish tank that i over payed for seeing as tho it was used & also couldn’t return that after 1 hour of purchase. the women who runs that place has ZERO customer service skills & i cant name a person who likes her thats met her . extremely rude.. never the less we have always returned until today!!

Negative experience: The ignorant woman with the glasses (Paula) is the soul reason the store is terrible. She’s a miserable woman with nothing going for her in life so she takes it out at her job. I will never spend another dollar in this garbage store establishment ever again. With that being said i highly recommend aquastetics on east main street in fall river! A lot friendlier service, immensely more well kept fish and no ignorant harlequin to insult customers that spend 100$+ weekly in that god awful basement

Negative experience: I bought a hamster here that was twice the amount that I normally get my hamsters for. But I really wanted that hamster so I gave it a try. My hamster is showing signs of abuse and doesn't let me hold him. It has been almost 2 months.

Fantastic experience: The staff was so friendly and helpful. We learned so much and got what we needed for our tree frog. They also taught us about how to enhance our fish bowls with real plants, snails and clams. We love visiting the store!

Fantastic experience: There's a reason they have nearly a 5 star rating with 400+ reviews - this is a great local pet store. Dog/cat, bird, reptile, fish, you name it they have it. They offer much more than just a place to buy your dog food, they give great advice and are happy to help best they can. They work hard and offer a great selection for freshwater and marine fish and are always have plenty of dry goods in stock for whatever you may need. Shop small and support your local businesses!

Negative experience: Very disappointed in reptile staff. I sent my father there to pick up some live feed for my leopard gecko, and my dad ended up looking for a second opinion because my leopard gecko is just a baby and I also just got her. Leopard Geckos may I remind you only eat insects, my father has very little knowledge on that. She swore left and right that she has been feeding her leopard geckos this for there entire lives. Even claiming her leopard gecko lived on this and died at 16. The bag she ended up giving my father is a fruit based powder mixture. I've noticed chewy also says this ok for leopard geckos but it is in fact not. Leopard geckos need live insects to hunt because of the lack of motion they do on a day to day basis. So if you go to this store and someone recommends you this for your leopard gecko. Don't take it because this bag is sure to make your gecko die do to starvation, because she or he will not touch a fruit based substance. I repeat leopard geckos eat insect, they are insectivores. Which means they only eat insects! So do not buy this product for your leopard geckos.

Positive experience: It's a decent shop for general reptile and pet goods. The prices are okay something more expensive then others. Staff is okay mostly same faces.

Fantastic experience: This is a great local shop! Every time I have been in the owner Acknowledges me. He has a wealth of info for the aquarium hobby. The lady who works in the fish area is great as well. I do shop at OSA in coventry for corals from time to time. However, I was really impressed today when I saw the new coral set up and colony set up they are doing. I have purchased some corals here in the past and will be back for more. All my fish have come from here and not one has had an issue. They are also great when it comes to buying RO and Salt water. I bought an awesome 3 head candy cane coral today and it looks awesome in my tank!

He had every nano fish imaginable. Iv had the hardest time finding chili Rasbora online let alone in store. They looked ok in store but ounce I got home and put them in they are the best looking fish I have. Animal instinct has my full patronage.

Negative experience: Wish there was an option for 0 stars. This place is a joke. They have fish that they are charging 70$ for when you can get the same exact fish at Petco for 30$. Then they claim their fish are better quality but in my experience buying from them the poor fish died on the way home.
