Fantastic experience: This is the BEST saltwater reef store in the Greater Houston area. There are other stores, and they may be hit or miss - That Aquarium Place always has an excellent selection of livestock, food, hardware, and please don't let me forget- They have just as much freshwater fish too! Maybe more!!

Fantastic experience: I was amazed by this store. The diversity and variety of saltwater/ freshwater fish is awesome. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for uncommon beautiful and antique fish. They basically have it all. A bit pricey as expected, very much so for saltwater fish. The workers know their profession though!

Positive experience: Said WOW!!! When I walked in, at first you think everything is healthy, and an incredible selection of saltwater and freshwater fish, the location is great too! But at a closer look, it isn't. All of the saltwater fish were either sick, stressed or dead. Only a few tanks were ok. The prices were ok, some were really nice and cheap, but most were very over priced for sick corals. Don't know how the freshwater looked, but it did look good. The tanks on the saltwater tanks were yellow with tanins, ( not harmful but not nice to look at).They have an ok supply for supplements. What made me really dislike them was the fact that the guy that was helping me was rude, he would ask a question and before I even answered completely he would bash me telling me that it was wrong and to buy a better product, saying everything I have been doing is wrong and I will not have success. He also was vaping every other breath. I do not appreciate vape smoke being blown in my face, and all around me( we were also indoors). That alone makes me not want to come back. No one greeted me when I walked in, no big deal, but kinda shows how your customer service is.

Fantastic experience: Everyone was extremely helpful. We didn’t leave with anything but I will be back just because of the service alone. Fish were well taken care of and so many to choose from.

Fantastic experience: I have been using this place for a little over a year now. Been through a lot of fish, coral and fish tanks. I couldn't have asked for a better group of people to help me out while learning - still learning - and helping me get my tanks up and going. They are always there when you need them and always willing to help out. Shout out to; Jamal, Dalton, Bobby and Matt. Really appreciate the great help you guys have been!! I highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend this place!!

Fantastic experience: The store was way bigger on the inside than it seemed on the outside. There was a good variety of both fresh and salt water fish and a nice anemone selection. The workers were nice and very helpful! The store overall was clean and neat I will be returning!

Fantastic experience: They have all the aquarium coop products at retail price at this store!!!! Easy Green and all other products!!! NO NEED TO PAY FOR SHIPPING COST!!! Amazing! Aside from this, all fish, snails, and decoration stones are AAA++++, never had a a problem. My endlers from more than a year ago are still breeding in my tank. This is my favorite aquarium shop in town. Customer service is excellent. They are always offering assistance.

Fantastic experience: UPDATED: bottom I'm new to the hobby because my daughter took some kind of aquatic biology glass and gave me her tank. Since then I have turned into a 6 tank home. 4 aquascape , 1 for plants (grow out clippings) and one breeder tank for cherry shrimp. I have got great advice, great help and kind service. There is great prices and it beats ordering on line anyway to talk to people. This place has become my Saturday routine and at minimum I refill my ROI jug. I advise you to go and look, plenty of choices and the coral is amazing! Maybe someday I will do salt water. Only drawback: I can't come during the week because I get off work at 5:00pm and that's when they close. Update: moved into salt and I have the most amazing nano and lagoon reef tank with corals and maybe 20 fish total. Never been pointed in the wrong direction. Fantastic experience: I'm just getting back in to reef keeping after being out for many years and even back then Jamal and his crew were my go to. He has since grown and has just about everything you could imagine for a saltwater tank and freshwater from the looks! Such a great place to go, his staff is knowledgeable and his selection may even be better! From fish/coral/nems/clean up crew he has it! Prices are affordable, just going to check out his personal display tank is worth the drive. He's done an amazing job with the place, I won't waste time anywhere else! I picked up two bubble tips and two cleaner shrimp yesterday and they are doing great

Negative experience: Third visit to this store! Helpful staff that loves their work and is intense about it! I was excited to return for another visit and made the 45 minute drive. Today one of the reps must have just been having a bad day, just inserting himself into a great discussion I was having with other reps, then oddly questioning me about “eye rolling” after only ten seconds of standing there! This great store doesn’t need reps that can’t read a room and have such poor social skills. Mark me highly surprised and disappointed this time and hoping for a better experience next time.

Fantastic experience: This place popped up on my Facebook feed as a place I might be interested in. I took the hour drive, and man was I surprised! Great selection of Saltwater fish, plenty of variety from Anthias to Tangs! Now the real treat is their coral selection! Holy Canoli! 4 huge coral specific tanks with tons of great healthy looking coral. The staff is great, friendly, knowledgeable and they also have their own personal tanks, so they have experience. I left with way to much, thanks again!

Fantastic experience: By a far degree, the variety of fish and corals here goes beyond nearly any other store I’ve been into at this size. They have all your common varieties but then so many more species beyond that, that I have never seen in an aquarium store. Also they seem to take very good care of their stock and care a lot about their customers.

Negative experience: At first when you walk in your like wow so many options but when you look closer you notice how many fish are dead or dying some fish were eating each other or fighting bc they were over crowded and were a semi aggressive species. The fish looked sick and seemed like they haven't been fed. This is the worst aquarium store I've ever been to. There are so many different aquarium places that are really amazing. Save your time and money don't go here. ESPECIALLY for shrimp as I saw a lot of them had different kind of infections I've had shrimp for a long time and I've never had my shrimp eat each other alive and I'd never seen that happen at any aquarium stores. But they were all eating each other. I know it does happen but there were so many of them eating each other. Save your money and time! Edit : wow what a bad business owner how unprofessional I think this goes to show that you definitely should not go here and how unprofessional to go find my facebook this is not paid as you can go look at my profile I leave good and bad reviews when they are deserving! Why would somebody pay me to leave this review the shrimps I'm talking about were NOT molts I'm pretty confident the positive reviews are fake the shrimps had fungal infections and the trigger fishes lip was rotting off its face same with the starfish with its leg. In every tank the only thing they were feeding they're fish was a piece of cabbage which is probably why they were eating each other. Anybody who knows about fish knows if you are going to give fish that can have cabbage you have to boil it first but from what I saw this guy doesn't care or know ANYTHING about animals or respecting his customers. The cowfish he's talking about has nothing wrong with it as I said he knows nothing about fish he's just trying to make me look bad so he can look good. I'm only posting this because I don't want people to buy a fish and end up having all of they're fish die from spreading parasites.

Fantastic experience: We stumbled upon this place a few weeks ago but we wish we would've found it sooner. They have a large selection of both salt and fresh water fish. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable.

Negative experience: Bought some Cory Doras from here they didn’t last not even 2 days & yes my tank was well cycled , Prices are pretty high expect that , Nice store overall mainly for corals , Wouldn’t return again tho (personal opinion)

Positive experience: I needed filter parts and they did not have what I was looking for. They do have a BIG selection of fish. Freshwater and Salts. Tanks were all very clean. The fish I looked at all appeared to be healthy.

Negative experience: Owner would rather blast negative reviews on social media and hide behind their posse while trying to drag your name through the dirt instead of handling business like a professional. Will not be supporting these practices. Response: the fact that you think any bad review is false is just a testament to your poor business practices. My reviews are honest and unbiased. You do not handle your business properly and your responses show just that. You are a disgrace to the fish keeping hobby.

You can tell when business owners have a true passion for what they do as opposed to just wanting a quick buck. I've bought dozens of fish, plants, and coral over the years here and they are all happy healthy specimens. I even find rare fish here I haven't seen in years! And I love that the knowledgeable staff let's you just wander around without trying to upsell stuff!

Fantastic experience: This store has it all when you are in the aquarium world. Jamal has been my go-to aquarium guy for the last 12 or 13 years. He does the annual anniversary sale every year. He puts it out way ahead of time so you know when it's coming. I have been waiting for a couple of moths because I know there is going to be some awesome livestock at great prices. I even went in the store to get me a sneak peek and start on my list. We get there early stand in the cold, rain and shine. Yea I would like to have gotten some things early at the discount price but you have to wait like everyone else. It you don't like his service don't come back. And if you live in Florida....hell you right by the ocean, you mean to tell me y'all don't have fish stores there. I call BS. Anyway can't wait till Saturday. See y'all in line.

Negative experience: Follow-up to the reply: My 2/5 star review is about the service, and not the low stock of sad looking freshwater crustaceans. I can handle supply chain variability; the service here simply isn't up to par. The fact that my original comments about the service were completely ignored in the merchant reply speaks volumes. Original review: I really wanted to like this place, but it's just not living up to the average review rating for me. On my first visit - the lot and store were mostly empty - I was greeted, but it was more of a "hello" than an offering of help. I had to find someone to help me, the first guy handed me off to someone else without my knowledge. The guy who helped me was nice, but it just felt too much like I had to beg for help than I expected. I purchased substrate, rocks , chlorine treatment, beneficial bacteria, and 5 freshwater plants. I just went back looking for freshwater shrimp, and setup items for a second tank... Waited around looking at employees for help, finally had to ask someone if they worked there and if they could help me with freshwater shrimp. The employee I approached took me to a really sad looking tank of mostly nothing, said "here's our freshwater shrimp" and when I turned around he was gone. I really wanted to like this place, as I'm looking for a place to learn and purchase all of my aquarium needs, but this isn't it. It's clear that this place doesn't want my business. I won't be back.

Fantastic experience: This place is great! Have been to several other shops around the Metro and the aquarium place is definitely my favorite. As someone who is new to the saltwater hobby I was a bit overwhelmed the first time. These guys were extremely patient, informative, encouraging, and friendly. I would say their prices are average. You can probably find other shops that are a little less expensive on some items, but the volume and variety of stock that they have is phenomenal (salt and fresh). Over the last 6 months I found myself saving time and headaches by just coming here first!

Fantastic experience: The nicest aquarium pet store I have ever seen. The fish are just different. They are alive. They are like little puppies or cats in a loving home. Fantastic experience: My daughter and I came in around 1030, and the store was amazing. All the staff asked us how we are doing but not in a what do you need so I can get you out way. Everyone was super friendly. My man with the tattoos helped us out, and he did a great job. Nice, handled the fish well. Overall fantastic spot. Great selection of saltwater and freshwater fish. Will be back for sure.

Fantastic experience: Edit: They replaced the guppies I lost, much appreciated guys! Great selection of fish and good prices - the first two groups of fish from here were great. The last group I bought (about a week after the others) unfortunately most of the fish passed away in the first 24-48 hours in quarantine. Sadly I work 7am-6pm most days so was unable to return them in the 24 hour return window, but that was my own fault for coming on a Sunday when I worked the days after that. Otherwise very happy with my purchases. Employees are very nice and helpful.

Fantastic experience: After failing miserably at the chain pet stores.. I did my research and tried this local store first. I won’t even bother trying the other local fish stores near me. Every employee (& the owner himself), have been tremendously helpful and patient with my 100 questions. I’ve walked in this store about 3 times in the past week or two, and am greeted every time, offered help, and provided guidance with any questions or concerns I may have. I’ve bought supplies I needed, plants, some fish, and some shrimp and they’re all thriving. I have yet to see an unhealthy or dead fish when I walk in here. The employees are always cleaning and it’s clear everyone takes pride in their work. I love this place so much, I’m choosing to spend my birthday shopping here for my last batch of fish. I’m super excited to make this store my home away from home.

Positive experience: Unbiased, definitely one of the largest, most unique selection of fish within a 50 mile radius. They have salt and freshwater fishes, along with a massive assortment of live plants and corals. Hands down best variety nearby. The owner is kind and friendly. He's usually willing to work something out if something goes wrong with one one your purchases, he is very reasonable. The employees are all very knowledgeable about their livestock and tank keeping. Really, you won't find any store nearby that compares when it comes to variety and an all-around fish store. And the best saltwater selection nearby too, which is strangely hard to find it seems. On the other hand, unbiased, some of the fish are in poor condition and health. The water in the front left tanks of the store is a strange brownish hue and that area smells quite fishy. You can frequently see dead or dying fish in those tanks, which really isn't that unusual considering how many fish they have at any given time. Just unsightly. The customer service is also very mixed. Any of them will come up to you and ask you if you need help with anything, multiple employees will. They just aren't very approachable. I want to love this place, I really do; but, when I need to question if I want something in my tank based on the debatable quality of the livestock, I'd rather not risk it. It is without a doubt worth checking out with caution.

Positive experience: We bought 5 cichlids, 3 assorted females, 2 had sunken bellies, which we quickly remedied, 1 did not remedy and she has since died, today, one of the other females didn't make it. 1 livingstoni, he had a slightly sunken belly and was remedied. But is still lethargic and not acting right 1 sulfurhead?, it is not doing well, and we are to assume it is not going to make it. Edit: This issue has been corrected by the very nice people who work here, aswell as the owner. So I am amending my post, I was just upset at the time of posting.

Fantastic experience: Awesome place to get your fish, plants, and supplies. Huge selection and tanks are very clean and all the fish look happy and healthy. You’ll never go to a chain place after going here. Helpful people working there. Friendly and helpful with suggestions and answers to my 20 questions. Only have neon tetras, clown loaches, and the green phantom pleco in the pics. The dragon stone in the pic also came from here as well as about half of the plants. Going back in two weeks for a center piece fish.

Fantastic experience: That Aquarium Place has by far the LARGEST selection of saltwater/freshwater fish and supplies in TX! The owner and staff treat their customers like family and no one can beat their prices. While you’re there, grab some food from This Food Truck on-site!

Fantastic experience: I called before I left my house looking for a particular fish and they held it for me. I live over an hour away from the store. Once I arrived, they had the fish I a tank marked hold so I could observe it. The coral and fish tanks were clean and everything looked great. Thanks again to everyone who helped me.

Fantastic experience: Pretty cool place with various different types of fish. Had some pretty cool tanks of various sizes. The fish were kept in different lights to cater their needs, showing the attention to detail. There was an eel also that looked pretty cool. A great purchase for the house if you want to reduce stress or anxiety. Also a great way to support sustainability of the oceans!

Fantastic experience: I bought a Neptunian Cube L120 lagoon tank from them and had it delivered. Everything went well from the buying experience and through to the delivery and setup. They had a nice selection of corals as well. Update: They recently did a major upgrade of the saltwater tanks. Even more selection of great fish and inverts.

Positive experience: This place had a large selection of salt water fish, shrimp and coral They also have freshwater fish and shrimp. I was amazed at the prices. Guppies were 10/$15, fresh water shrimp were the lowest prices I’ve ever seen in a store. It’s definitely worth taking a look.

Fantastic experience: This place is awesome. They have a wide selection of tropical and salt water fish to choose from. I was very impressed with their large selection of peacock cichlids which that was what I was looking for.

Fantastic experience: Jamal hooked me up with a brand new tank, and when it arrived got me setup with new decor, plants, and sand. Never seen a tank look so good. This is the place to go for your aquatic needs. Crazy good fish selection too

Fantastic experience: Today I saw on fb that these guys carry Red top Hongi mbuna. I made the 45 min drive and it was worth it! Aestically well kept, clean and organized. Very pleased with my visit today. Kevin is an encyclopedia of knowledge
