Negative experience: Dolphins were not born to be "cute" for humans and push/pull people around. They make the best of their situation but make no mistake, this is JAIL and incarceration for them no matter how nice it looks. Heartbreaking to watch Shame on the whole senseless "marine animals are here for our amusement" industry. Take yourself out into their world(!) if you want to "experience" them...

Fantastic experience: We have visited Dolphin Connection at Hawks Cay several times over the years. Always, without fail, it’s one of the most magical experiences! We have a growing child, so the experiences have evolved but each is spectacular (most recently we chose the royal swim!). The entire staff is always so kind, educational and fun! We especially love that the dolphins are swimming in a natural environment and are cared for due to injury in the wild or other circumstances that would mean they can’t live in the wild. This is a must-do experience if you’re in the FL keys!

Fantastic experience: Such a fun and interactive experience for my family. My wife and girls were beaming the entire time. When booking the attraction there was some confusion as there seems to be both a Dolphin Connection and Dolphin Discovery website that both point to the same experience. After calling I was informed that Dolphin Connection website was the correct booking site. Photos were included with the experience which seemed more than reasonable We arrived shortly after some new dolphins were relocated here from another facility. The dolphin habitat is fed from the sea which allows in ocean fish as well.. Staff was informative, attentive, and fun. Definitely worth the experience if you're in the area.

My autistic son decided he was too scared to get in with us and a few of the staff so kindly kept him distracted for us. The trainer Bree that was working with us even made sure to include him from the pier and that absolutely warmed my heart. I appreciate them all going above and beyond to make it a great experience!

This was a great learning experience as well as a fun experience. The photos are provided at no additional charge. We were able to use a Groupon which made the Dolphin Encounter very affordable.

Fantastic experience: The dolphin discovery class was educational and my son could not stop talking about the experience afterwards. The employees were wonderful and helped us rebook when accidentally scheduled the wrong date. My son learned so much and got to encounter a dolphin, ride a dolphin, touch him and so much more. I highly recommend this experience. I know my 10-year-old son will never forget it! Due to weather conditions our class was cut short and my son was gifted a dolphin shirt which was so special. We couldn’t have been happier.

We chose the Royal Swim Experience, and it was hands down the highlight of our trip in the Florida Keys. The experience was very family-friendly — the staff made sure everyone felt comfortable and safe. The dolphin trainer was very knowledgeable and answered all my daughter's questions. Getting to interact so closely with these amazing dolphins was magical! We got to hug, dance, and even be pushed through the water by them — it was like something out of a dream. These dolphins are so smart and seemed to really enjoy interacting with everyone. The dolphins were gentle, playful, and clearly well cared for. The trainers taught us so much about dolphin behavior and conservation in a way that kept the whole family engaged. If you're looking for a once-in-a-lifetime experience that's fun and educational, Dolphin Connection’s Royal Swim is a must. We’ll be talking about this for years to come!

Negative experience: Let them see the real ocean where they belong! These dolphins are stuck in a small space with oddly warm water. Can't imagine how they actually feel.. Not what we expected

Negative experience: Me and my family have done several dolphin excursions in different places and this was the worst. We paid for the adventure (over $800) and two people in my family couldn’t do the swim part and were told they would substitute something else but they did not. Also the experience was supposed to be 40mins and it was maybe 20mins. The food options were awful, the “Infiniti pool” was dirty and small. Then the photographer was awful but I wanted to at least get a pic of my granddaughter with the dolphin and my sons girlfriend because this was their first experience but they wanted to charge $35 per picture and charge $45 per person for one family picture. It was outrageous! Terrible experience, would not recommend! FYI… this was the Cancún Mexico location

You can feel the love connection with the dolphins and there trainers. Very educational. Our 19 year old son had the royal package and had a full 45 minutes plus in the water with the dolphins.

Negative experience: The experience was wonderful. However, I paid for photos and after the experience, I was told explicitly by a staff member that my photos would be emailed to me when I inquired before leaving. Never received the email. Called and left a voicemails, wrote a couple emails, never heard back.

We did the middle package where you do the one belly ride after the encounter and totally worth it. They also sent us a ton of pictures afterword which is a cool momento of the experience.

Fantastic experience: This was such a fun dolphin experience! The dolphins are well taken care of and have wonderful stories. The trainers are very knowledgeable and have spent most of their lives working to protect dolphins. I didn't realize my daughter was too short to do one of the rides with the dolphins and they made every effort to make her feel included even allowing her to train the dolphin and give her a squish mallow! I really appreciate how they went out of their way to make her feel special! Also, ALL the photos get emailed to you which is amazing.

Positive experience: Took a friend who had never done a dolphin experience the only thing I had issue with is we were with a group that were doing the encounter experience, with the fin rides and had to wait for them to do their extras. While another group which only had our level (blue wrist bands) seemed to have more interaction with the dolphin.

Fantastic experience: Unreal. The trainers are wonderful, thoughtful, and just fun. They were accommodating and made sure we got the full experience. They also care deeply for the rescued animals and it shows throughout the facility and staff.

Negative experience: We never got a pictures from our kids. After almost a 3weeks of texting them, no one has sent us pictures. Very disappointing

Negative experience: This was my sons 4th dolphin encounter so I feel qualified to give an accurate review. There were 7 people in my sons 'group'. There were 2 families (group of 2, and group of 4) and my son . This was the priciest of the swims as it was supposed to include longer time with the dolphin and 2 swims(tows). While I feel the staff was friendly and knowledgeable, they were running late and it showed . I do not feel that there was a genuine concern about the experience my son had. There was definite favoritism to the 2 families. This shows clearly in the 121 photos I received with my son being in maybe 9 or 10 of them. The photos were quite extensive of the others. This was heartbreaking for me as a mom. My son is autistic but extremely high functioning and he was very excited, but clearly let down. Even in the photos you can see him in a corner. He also didn't have his life vest on properly and they did nothing to address it. He is an amazing swimmer but the vest covered his face while he had his first tow. I will never come here again. They should be ashamed of their behavior.

Fantastic experience: Our trainer was 5 years experienced and amazing! I was so impressed she remembered all our names in the group of 9 our session had. 915am show was a little cold with a mild wind a sprinkle so id suggest an afternoon show. Other than that it was a lifetime experience to remember forever. My daughter was in awe and loved how “squishy” Maia was with her winter body. Indie was a sweet boy who looked into my soul. It was so cool to watch him watch me with one eye and the trainer with the other. After a good baby talk he cooed back to me. It was amazing! Worth every penny!

Fantastic experience: Telma, instructor, and dolphins Tsunami and Sotu gave our family a wonderful experience! Telma is so kind and knowledgeable. Tsunami and Sotu were friendly and so tame. We did the belly swim, pictures, and interactive play. Highly recommend this activity for the whole family!

Fantastic experience: Super fun! Booked the platform adventure for two adults and 8+9 yo kiddos. A little disappointing to be grouped with other ppl after paying a lot of money, having to wait for them to do the activities. We were there in winter and smaller kiddo was cold but rest of us thought water was chilly but fine. Dolphin trainer we had was very friendly, personable, and her dolphin love was very apparent. We learned a lot about the dolphins overall! Super cool to have the photos included, easy to get later even though you have to download an app if you want to do it on a phone. Would recommend to all and would do it again, all 4 of us left happy!

Positive experience: Here’s a humorous rephrasing in English: Disappointing Experience at Dolphin Connection Our visit to Dolphin Connection was, to put it mildly, a splash of disappointment. We’re a big family of six, and we snagged tickets on Groupon (a small mercy since their official website prices are outrageously high for the service provided). We bought three tickets for the Dolphin Deck and three for the Dolphin Encounter, both promising interaction with the dolphins and six free photos per package. Sounds great, right? Wrong. We visited on January 13th and called ahead, as we were driving two hours from Miami. The administrator, in her infinite wisdom, asked us to email our vouchers, which we did. We even called back to confirm our ETA at 12:40 PM. She assured us we’d make it, neglecting to mention that the scheduled time was actually 2:15 PM. So, there we were, waiting an hour and a half at the venue—a hotel property with nowhere to really spend that time comfortably. To add to the “fun,” the administrator was downright rude and unhelpful. When it was finally time for our session, we discovered we weren’t the only ones “interacting” with the dolphins—each group had 6-8 people, making any personal connection with the animals about as close as you’d get in a crowded theme park line. The only saving grace? The dolphins themselves—absolute sweethearts. Without them, this review would be a hard 2 stars. Our experience was delayed by 15 minutes, and then we were ushered into a small covered area where we spent 30 minutes being told about dolphins—quickly and without any actual introduction to the animals we were supposed to meet. Two minutes of instructions later, we moved on to the main event: standing waist-deep in water while dolphins performed a couple of tricks and we were photographed. The promised 30-minute session? It was over in about 15-20 minutes. And the photos? Oh, the photos! We were asked how we’d like to receive them and opted for email. Fast forward to January 19th: still no photos. Calls go unanswered, voicemails ignored. In summary, we spent hours driving, waited even longer, and walked away with a sour taste—and no photos to show for it. The kids were heartbroken, and the entire experience felt like a massive waste of time and money. Do yourself a favor: save your cash, avoid the drive, and don’t let this disappointing experience drag you down.

Negative experience: The experience was good, although I have gone other places where they let you do way more with the dolphins. It was a little blah compared to other places. They failed to take a photo of me kissing the dolphin, which is the one I really wanted. When I tried to contact them it took me SIX tries and I still haven't heard back from them. They basically blew me off and never got back to me. Their customer service sucks, so I highly do NOT recommend. I think I deserve a full refund because they didn't give me the photos I wanted. Definitely NOT worth $250. Go somewhere else like Dolphins Plus. More expensive, but also more worth the money.

Fantastic experience: We booked with Dolphin Connections after searching multiple places in the Keys. I chose here due to the Google Maps satellite view showing the clear waters compared to most others, and I was definitely not wrong in my assessment. This place is beautiful and the waters were crystal clear. The booking and check-in process were seamless. Finding the check-in spot wasn’t as easy. You have to enter the resort main entrance, walk through towards the pool, and to the left of the Tiki. Once checked in, the staff were all amazingly friendly, helpful, and informative. The 15 min presentation was surprisingly entertaining and we were able to watch and hear some dolphins that enhanced the anticipation. Once we were in the water (Royal Swim… worth every penny!), the experience was so amazing. The trainers were super friendly, they are humans to the dolphins, they remembered everyone’s name, and they ensured we all had a ln amazing experience We will return

Fantastic experience: The trainers provide insightful knowledge about the dolphins. We enjoyed swimming with the dolphins. My granddaughter started in the water but didn't liked all the other fish swimming around. The trainer had her do special tricks with the dolphins to make up for not hugging them in the water. It was a memorable, bucket list item for the whole family.

Negative experience: The trainer and dolphins are awesome. This is not about them in any way. The customer service given by greeters and front desk is horrible. We were so offended by the way we were spoken to it was almost hard to enjoy the experience. There was absolutely nothing nice about them. It’s a shame. They made what was supposed to be happy, enjoyable and relaxing a stressful situation. I visit marathon every year and bring different people each time I go. I definitely will do a dolphin encounter again however I will not return back to this one.

Negative experience: The experience was great the trainer are amazing. I wish I could give a 10 start, however the Kourtney the Manager was extremely rude. We had to small children and she tried to accommodate but literally just extremely rude to my family. I never ask for a discount. No need to be rude or just nasty towards my family. Again the experience was great but the wrong person for the wrong position.

Someone helped me over the phone the morning of and was an absolute angel, wish I remembered her name! The trainers genuinely seem to care and dolphins seemed happy. Positive experience: My son loved it. There are 2 lagoons, the one on the left has very little viewing area and they did not take many photos. It’s a lot of money for not being able to see my son enjoy it. The last time I did it I got 50 photos- this time I got 12.

Fantastic experience: By far our grandsons greatest experience of our week at Hawks Cay. They did a great job to allow everyone some one-on-one time with the dolphins. A wonderful experience for adults and children. Only downside was that they offered a lot of customized memorabilia for the Dolphins you worked with. Maia products were ALL sold out so my grandsons were really disappointed that there was nothing to take home for their friends to see.

Positive experience: Our kids (15 and 10) did the “swim with the dolphins” experience and loved it! The dolphin trainer was amazing and friendly and made them feel to comfortable. I’d highly recommend this.

Positive experience: Certainly a fun experience. It would be nice to be more interactive with the dolphin without posing for a pic. The pictures are truly wonderful...but you don't really get to experience being with the dolphin when you're looking at a camera.

Fantastic experience: This was an absolutely AMAZING experience! The staff and especially the dolphin trainers are super knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and genuinely care about the animals. This is NOT some over-the-top animal entertainment venue where the dolphins get overworked and mistreated. Instead, this is a great learning opportunity for adults and kids alike to learn about these amazing creatures, the importance of preserving their natural habitat, and interact with them in a way that may very well be a once in a lifetime experience. They take a LOT of photographs which were included with our package. You will definitely get some great shots to add to your memories. My family has been talking about our time at Dolphin Connection over and over since we got done with our session. Truly the highlight of our trip to the Keys. HIGHLY recommend and would do it again in a heartbeat. Edit: Disregard these reviews saying the dolphins are in 90 degree water. That's absurd. 90 degree water is like a nice warm swimming pool temperature, and the water the dolphins are in is the same ocean water just outside of the lagoon. For that much water to get to 90 degrees would require the Earth's atmosphere to be extremely hot all of the time. I was just in the water for our encounter on 3/12/24. The water was definitely NOT 90 degrees!
