Fantastic experience: Best fish store in town! Their employees are incredibly knowledgeable and always open to helping you pick out fish, plants, decor, etc.

Fantastic experience: Walked into this store expecting 2 things…fish and freaks… let’s say it did not disappoint. This was the most amazing experience my friends and i have had hands down! The fish were obviously well taken care of and all of the employees were knowledgeable and helpful. Eel was a bit mean, sucker fish a bit sus. Not to mention the fish were all friendly and would come up to the glass to see you, there was a very wide array of fish from all over the globe.

Fantastic experience: Very knowledgeable and the rewards kick back is my favorite part! Actually visiting the salt water tanks in the back is… no actually it’s the used cheap AF equipment garage style in the back middle.. no!! Actually it’s the staff. Great place all around.

Fantastic experience: Great place all around. The staff is always friendly and helpful, whether you're reaching out on social media or calling in. The social media monitoring is clutch. Since it’s about a 1-hour round trip for me, I really appreciate when they confirm they have what I need before I make the drive. Thanks to that reliability, I’ve bought a full Python tank maintenance setup, filter, driftwood, frozen food, and even a brass faucet adapter from them on different occasions. I’d much rather support a local business owner than hand my money to a big-box store or Amazon. What really sets them apart is their responsiveness—most other privately owned shops are slow to reply or sigh am grunt when you ask if something's in stock, which usually pushes me to the big box or Amazon. Not here. These folks make it easy to shop local.

Fantastic experience: Beautiful display tanks and super helpful and knowledgeable staff. Has everything we needed and more. Was almost like going to a big aquarium like at the zoo but better because you could take the fish home!!

Fantastic experience: Anything you ever need to know about fish, setting up a fish tank, what to feed your fish, and how to keep your tank and fish healthy, Fish Freaks is the place to go. Tanks are clean with several different types and sizes. There are so many varieties of fish to choose from. It's great to just walk around and look at their beautiful fish. The tiny frogs are too adorable!! They never rush through helping you. They give you all the time you need to ask questions. Matt helped us yesterday from the time we arrived, made suggestions on what we needed for our new 75-gallon tank, and even took us to the checkout and rang up our purchase. Great customer service! I never knew there were so many things to know and do regarding owning fish and tanks. Great hobby!!

Fantastic experience: Fish freaks is the best place if you’re interested in starting your fish tank or already have fish! They are so helpful in maintaining and caring for fish. They are really experts on management. I’ve called and gone in several times when I’m worried about my fish and they do water tests and help trouble shoot treatments. Everyone is always so kind and helpful!

I came back in today and the tanks were immaculate. The staff were more than helpful and friendly. This place really does have everything you need for your fish whether you're just getting started or a seasoned fish keeper. The staff is also very knowledgeable if you have any questions. They have a good selection of both Salt and Fresh. They have so many different types of fish to choose from. They have odd balls (even Stingrays!) as well as your easy, beginner type fish. This place definitely is worth a look! I'll definitely be back. :)

Negative experience: This 1 star review was given do the fact that we spent a lot of money buying our sons Axolotls food, tank, sand, filter, water structures and finally the Axolotl. We went back to replace the filter since it quits out of the blue, and they would not. We went back to buy plants for the tank after a few months and the plants they sold us killed the axolotl.

Fantastic experience: Matt was so helpful walking with us around the store and showing us fish that would be able to cohabitate in our tank and what rocks and plants we could use. He was very knowledgeable about tank set up and management, and we appreciated his honesty about what fish would be good for our 10 gallon tank. (Goldfish are not good for small tanks)

Fantastic experience: Fish Freaks is an absolute treasure and truly the biggest fish store within an 8-hour drive of Omaha! The selection is mind-blowing, with endless options of healthy, vibrant freshwater and saltwater fish. It’s clear they take great care of their animals, and the whole store is just a vibe! I could honestly spend all day there—it’s that amazing. We were shopping for our 6-year-old’s birthday (she needed new freshwater fish for her tank), and the experience couldn’t have been better. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful, and the owner himself went above and beyond to make her feel special when he found out it was her birthday. He even surprised her with a thoughtful gift on the house, which completely made her day! This place is a one-of-a-kind gem. The personal touches, the incredible selection, and the welcoming atmosphere make it unbeatable. We’ll never give another penny to the big box stores for our fish needs—Fish Freaks has earned our loyalty for life. Fantastic experience: I and my mom were trying to find a place with good and healthy fish and we found fish freaks and this place is so cool and neat and nice we saw some goldfish and tetras and plecos and etc we went there because my fish died and I was really sad but my mom said we can get another and obviously said yes so went there they told us to bring a sample of water to make sure it was safe for the fish and we went there a couple of times they said no but this one time they said it was ready and I was so happy to get a fish and I picked these kind of serpae tetras and there so cute and a couple of days later two of the fish died I don’t know how but I was really sad but the next day we went back and got a pleco and he’s so cute gliding on the walls and the log and his mouth is so tiny and (extra context)my grandma got me the first fish before the other ones and we did it wrong because we got the fish and then got the tank it was a 5 gal tank and we got a half moon betta and we didn’t wait until the water was ready so yeah but he was really cute and he lived a long lasting life but I still miss him his name was Jeffery RIP Jeffery

Fantastic experience: Jerry helped my niece and I pick out some freshwater shrimp for her new microtank. He took the time to make sure we had the right kind of set up, patiently fished out the exact 5, tiny, shrimp and guppy my niece wanted, and suggested a starter food for them until the tank got more established. Jerry was patient, kind, informative, and just a great guy! Wonderful experience, and the shrimp are thriving in their new home!

Fantastic experience: I went here about a week ago after having some difficulties starting to cycle a tank for my daughter. They were insanely kind, understanding, gave me lots of knowledge and provided me some bacterial filter/media along with rewards points and the works. Couldn't be happier with the service and will definitely be back. Great shop and you can tell they truly care.

Positive experience: This is by far the coolest fish store I have ever been to. They have a huge selection and their fish seem very healthy and happy. No fish shoved in tiny cups! The employees seem very knowledgeable, but I'm kinda bummed that they doubted my own research and ultimately made me feel stupid for asking questions. I came in 3 weeks ago to check out fish. My tank has been cycling for a week and a half at this point.. we just wanted to window shop and get some advice. We were told to come back in a week with some water, they would test it to see if the tank is good to go. We showed up, 3 weeks after that first visit with water. My home tests showed our aquarium was spot on, but I wanted to try out their tests because I know they are more thorough. We asked the gal up front about water testing and she said yes go to the back. There, we were told they stopped testing water on the weekends (this was on Sunday). Okay, no big deal. The employee started asking us questions about how we cycled the tank, and ultimately decided to go ahead and test our water because we wanted another fish. We already had one in the tank because my tests showed the tank was ready. He said that a 10 gallon tank takes more than 5 weeks to cycle and it's probably full of ammonia. His test came back perfectly clear. His exact words were "I don't see anything out the ordinary here" Instead of letting us pick out a fish, he said we had to wait a few more weeks for the tank to for sure be stable. The tank has been cycled and stable for over a week at this point. He wasn't rude at all, more of a "matter of fact" kind of guy. I guess it was just disappointing because all the other customers could come in and buy fish, no questions asked. But we keep getting put on hold, for no reason this time. We ended up going to a different aquatic store and left very happy with plenty of advice and tips. I hope that we can come back to Fish Freaks and have a better experience in the future.

Fantastic experience: Great selection of products and livestock, but what really puts this place over is how good their customer service is. They have helped me so much the past few years with their knowledge and genuine enthusiasm for the hobby. They truly want to see everyone’s tank succeed and it shows. I couldn’t recommend them more.

Fantastic experience: I was nervous as I am an amateur fish owner and wanted to set up a Betta tank… the staff immediately took me around and helped me get the proper stuff, and gave me detailed instructions on how to get a great little 3 gallon tank ready for my future betta! The second individual to help us (I last minute decided to get a couple more fish) was very kind to my little boys. Unfortunately I didn't ask names. Negative experience: With great sadness I must amend my review of Fish Freaks. As I said earlier they do have a great selection or coral and product. HOWEVER, customer service is lean. The owner has chosen to give no one there permission to handle anything that might cost him a dime. What should be handled on an in store manager needs to go all the way to the top. It takes far more time than is needed to get an answer and proves that maybe its better to shop local rather than trekking out of town. I personally have spent close to $2,500 in my first month with Fish Freaks. As part of my purchases I bought a smart ATO nano (auto top off) for $150. This item failed in under a week. The receipt (picture provided) states the stores policy is to offer in store credit within 7 days if an item is returned. I followed this rule, and returned the item within the time period. The owner wasn’t present (I’ve been there over ten times and have never scene the owner to date) and since no one there can make a decision without the owner signing off, I was forced to leave the failed item there and the owner was going to get back to me. After almost two months I finally lost my cool and stopped in to force a decision on the returned product. All the staff knew it was wrong to be treated to such a long drawn out process only to be left with no help in the end. Obviously, my time meant little to the owner. Two trips from Lincoln to Omaha, wasted fuel and wasted time, plus the original $150. The money I can live without. I however own a business myself and we take care of customers. We carry product that we stand behind. We set up our customers up to succeed. Good business means honoring your word and standing behind your product. You simply don’t burn a relationship that earned you $2,500 over a $150 item. I will be going to Bulk Reef Supply (online) moving forward. I’ve ramped up my purchasing with them greatly and they have been honorable and easy to work with to date. I’m also testing buying coral online, you will see my reviews in the near future. I wish those of you that choose Fish Freaks for your aquatics needs the best. to the salt water hobby, I was very impressed with Fish Freaks. Everything is available for the aquarium enthusiasts here folks! They offer complete set ups, breath taking displays of colorful, healthy coral, a nice selection of both marine and freshwater fish, and an expansive selection of products to help you succeed. Let’s face it, this hobby isn’t exactly one of your cheaper hobbies. If I’m going to spend that level of coin, I’m spending it with folks that care. Where these folks shine is the knowledge that they share and the enthusiasm with which they share it. Love this store! I plan on making it one of my mainstays as I grow as a reefer. They set up my tanks with the proper equipment. Met my needs when I asked for everything to match. I will only do business with them from now on. I learned my lesson the hard way but trusting another local company. Fish Freaks is the best!

Fantastic experience: Have been in the reef hobby for years and I was completely overwhelmed by this place. It was like Disneyworld! They have so many coral frags, hardware (the good stuff), and supplies I could hardly make up my mind. Everyone who works there is really knowledgeable and polite. Omaha is a 5 hour drive for me, but Fish Freaks makes it worthwhile. Nothing like this in Kansas at all!

Fantastic experience: I ve purchased all my tanks from Mike here and set up by Chase. They did an awsome job of knowing what was needed for my tanks the first time, and setting up my 240 gallon cichlid tank w/sump. In the process of trading in my 75 gallon plant tank for another tank with sump set up. One thing you can count on is they will be straight up honest with you and not drag you along like the other place does. Along with there knowledge of fish I am also working with Jerry there in setting up a shrimp only tank

Fantastic experience: My favorite go to place for all things fish. Tanks, water, chemistry kits for water, corals, set ups, stands, lids, filters, media, cleaning tools, decoration, tropical and marine fish stock, plants, etc. So many great ideas, helpful knowledge to share, wonderfully supported employees. You can easily spend a good hour or more looking at all the tanks and learning about how each one is set up and why.

Fantastic experience: Very neat displays of their fish. Saltwater and freshwater. I really liked the ghost knives. The saltwater rays , eels , clownfish , huge convict cichlids and lionfish are awesome too! Definitely a shop for people interested in aquariums to see and go to! They could supply beginners to professional aquarium artists , aquaculturists and help with servicing tanks.

Fantastic experience: I take the kids there to look at all the beautiful Fresh and saltwater fish they have. It's great way to kill a little time and look what tank options they offer. Staff was friendly and eager to assist me with the questions I had.

Fantastic experience: Fish Freaks has quickly become my favorite LFS. I have a competitor store much closer but I'm more than willing to make the drive out to here instead. This store has the widest selection of product of all the local options and their prices are highly competitive, some even matching Amazon! Good supply of product, fish, snails, shrimp, and plants. By far my go-to LFS.

Fantastic experience: I live in Lincoln and this is my preferred shop. No other shop I've been to in Eastern Nebraska rivals them in terms of both knowledge and stock variety. They also treat their fish with great care and respect. It's rare to see a diseased specimen in one of their tanks and, if you do, they responsibly designate the stock as "not for sale" and keep a dosing schedule for medication written on the outside of the tank.

Fantastic experience: Fish Freaks is the best place in a 30 mile radius. They have great plants, freshwater fish, great saltwater corals and fish. Highly recommend. Veteran owned business.

Negative experience: Take a Number?!? You guys aren't the DMV. Rating would be higher. The young lady who I talked with answered my questions to the best of her abilities. She said she would help me after a water testing. 15 minutes later, you guys get busy, and I have to take a number for assistance. She never said anything about taking a number. So, taking a number is an absolute joke.

Fantastic experience: Man! What a store! Jerry was super helpful and answered all my questions. The staff here seemed super knowledgeable, which is much appreciated. I came in to pick up some Indian almond leaves, and left with quite a bit more. Will definitely be back. I had a great experience here. Only 'gripe' was the pricing for mystery snails. Was told in the back that they'd be a group of small guys for 3.99 but got charged 3.99ea at checkout. I must've misunderstood the snail pricing, but still a fantastic deal for all the stuff I got today. Will be back again soon.

Fantastic experience: Best selection of tank accoutrement in town.... hands down. Owner is a laid back cat who is knowledgeable and loves what he does. It shows in his shop, in his off the beaten path varieties of fresh and saltwater fish, and in the people he employs.

Fantastic experience: First, I have to comment on their incredible collection of fish. They have many species for salt and fresh water tanks. It's pretty impressive. They also sell a pretty decent variety of invertebrates. I was going there specifically for invertebrates, but I couldn't help but go from tank to tank admiring all the species of fish. From what I could tell, the store employees are very knowledgeable and freely share all of their knowledge with customers. The only negative was that had to wait for a little while for an employee, but it was very busy that day, and the delay came from the excellent customer service. Sometimes waiting to get indepth assistance is far more valuable than quick assistance from an employee with limited knowledge or passion for what they do. My snail and shrimp are currently still alive so I at least got somewhat healthy specimens. The rest is on me.

Fantastic experience: Massive variety of aquarium accessories. C02, lower priced aquascaping supplie. Friendly, specialized staff was willing to take the time to answer ANY question no matter how long it takes for you to get what you need and understand it.

My Plecos are doing well and I just went back for some Gourami. If I need anything fish related they seem to have it. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. I'd say this is the best aquatic store in the Omaha metro area. The pictures are of some of the fish I've purchased from Fish Freaks in my home tanks.

Fantastic experience: Wonderful selection of fish and the staff members were so helpful!

Negative experience: Sold a fish that was sick now I’m trying my best to save them with all these medications.

Positive experience: Massive selection, they have everything you could need and plenty of it! I appreciate the used equipment section however it's almost always a mess. Also they sell out so fast on certain species that it's hard to get there when they become available.

Fantastic experience: My go-to place for saltwater aquarium needs. I can generally get helpful information for my questions from the staff that work there. They've helped me keep my tank inhabitants alive for a while now! They have a great selection of fish, invertebrates, and corals....and anything else I need to keep my tank running smoothly.

Fantastic experience: These guys are the best! I was able to find the driftwood I needed for my tank and get plenty of ideas for my next aquarium. Everything is organized and well stocked. The best part is the staff is actually knowledgeable about their products and what will and won’t work together in a specific environment. I will keep returning to this store over and over again.

Fantastic experience: The new location is beautiful! Staff is super friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The selection of tanks available for purchase was downright impressive. Even with a better selection than anywhere in town, pricing is comparable to any of the nearby chain stores but with way better quality of care for the livestock. Heaven for fish enthusiasts of every type and experience level ♥

Fantastic experience: Its a queer friendly store. I have trouble with local store that just not very trans friendly. Today i went in and pick some live stock for my betta tank. I was amazed by a variety of live stock this place carried. I will come here again but not soon just cause its 20 min drive lol. The staff was friendly and helpful to answer my questions about my purchase. Price wise for the live stock,. I would say its appropriate and decent. Not so cheap but not expensive either. Aquarium equipment however is a little higher than other local fish stores and big box stores. But if you have decent pocket im sure you can get some nice thing here.
