Fantastic experience: Great aquarium center to visit. It is free of charge and accepts donations. They do a wonderful job. I wish it were larger. But I guess a large donor could make that happen. It has a small gift store so the children can leave with a souvenir of their experience. Hands-on touching of some sea creatures for the kids is terrific. Great job. Wonderful people work there. Don't forget to take a walk down the walkway to the fish hatcheries. Very interesting. Thank you Sea center Texas. We have visited several times and will be back.

Fantastic experience: Awesome, free conservation and education institution. Largest saltwater hatchery in NA. The very, very kindly docent, Ed, gave us a kid-friendly tour of the facilities. Daughter could have stayed at the touch tank forever. Unforgettable!

Fantastic experience: Mr Gene (most amazing tour guide ever) gave us an amazing tour of the marsh and we saw a few gators and turtles. He was patience and so very kind to our 5 year old with a thousand questions and the 12 year old daughter that thinks she knows everything! Definitely worth the visit.

Fantastic experience: Such a cool place! My son and I stopped by during a quick trip to Lake Jackson, TX. We were originally looking for a place to fish, and the receptionist was helpful in finding places to fish as well as inform us about the Sea Life Center. Staff was incredibly kind and helpful and the aquariums were beautiful! We will definitely be back.

Fantastic experience: We love this place and take the kids all the time. It’s free and the kids love watching the fish. We’ve done the tour through the hatchery as well which was totally worth it.

Fantastic experience: Took the kids to see the fish and was able to get a tour with one of the volunteer tour guides. He was knowledgeable and patient with my 3 year old throughout the tour, and let the kids feed the fish in one of the stock ponds at the end of the tour. All saltwater, no freshwater, in case you were wondering.

Fantastic experience: We found Sea Center Texas online while looking for things to do during our visit from out of state. We were able to schedule a tour a day ahead of time to learn about how they hatch and raise the fish which was very informative. All of the volunteers we interacted with were awesome! Very knowledgeable, very friendly, very helpful. The touch pool was our kids' favorite part and they spent quite a bit of time there. Very clean facilities. Unexpectedly one of our favorite parts of vacation!

Fantastic experience: This place is always a good time. My daughter loves it here. We come here at least once a month and the staff is always super friendly and the tanks are always really clean and well kept. Love going to visit the nurse shark!

Fantastic experience: The Hatchery tour with Mack was very informative, and interesting. He makes a great tour guide, and I would recommend the tour. The tour requires reservations, but those are made easily by contacting the Aquarium from the contact info on the website. I also recommend visiting the Aquarium part where all the native fish are on display.

Fantastic experience: My son loved it!! They taught the kids how the hatchery works, they saw some pretty big fish and some really tiny ones, they learned about conservation, Texas fresh and saltwater and basic fishing skills. The personnel is friendly and super knowledgeable. We had a great day!!!! ♥️

Fantastic experience: I had a great time, the staff are friendly and helpful. You can go for free and look at fish, the touch tank was super fun and it was very kid friendly. They do a lot of activities there and have camps over the summer. I wish there were more places like this.

Fantastic experience: Awesome aquarium+hatchery located close to Houston. It takes 40mins to visit the place. For the hatchery tours ,check the timing and call in prior before visiting. The place closes by 4pm so better plan to visit before 2.40pm. You can touch some of the sea life here.

Fantastic experience: Very cool exhibits including a touch pool. My son loved the different fish and how the aquarium was set up to show the transition from on to off shore environments.

Fantastic experience: Certainly was an educating experience. Words can’t even describe it. Highly recommend visiting here if you’re interested in learning more about Speckled Seatrout, Red Drum and Flounder. I learned that Speckled trout are a very sensitive fish

Positive experience: Super cute and indoor place for kids to learn more about sea life. We’ve been wanting to visit for some time but it is about 45 min away from us. We decided to visit during their Shark celebration event which was super cute for the kids but just a bit crowded. The building itself was a bit smaller than I imagined but still fun for the kids. However, outside of the event I’m not sure my toddler would spend enough time inside to warrant another drive in. Wish there were a free more interactive things to do during regular hours.

Fantastic experience: What a great little gem. Free admission and a LOT of displays. The little nature walk is also awesome - we saw 4 different types of birds in the 30 minutes we walked the boardwalk. Just beautiful. We also did the Fish Hatchery tour which was also informative. Definitely worth a stop!

Fantastic experience: Took the short drive down to Sea Center Texas today. I have been several times in the past and am happy to see the aquarium and wetlands area are still active and well maintained. If you are curious about the ecosystems along the coast of Texas and the Gulf in general this is a great spot to visit. Doesn't take long to wander through and is completely free to visit.

Fantastic experience: While I took my aquatic science students today for a field trip, this is a wonderful place for families as well. This facility has a touch tank, wetlands, a hatchery, aquariums, a gift shop, and more. We had a wonderful time and students were able to have fun learning. The Sea Center provides important opportunities to grow fish fry for release to support our local ecosystem particularly for trout, red drum, and flounder. Our tour guides were full of knowledge and wonderful. Even with little kids this would be a great way to spend a few hours.

Fantastic experience: Great family activity for children , teens, college students , and grandparents. Andy our tour guide was was wonderful and extremely knowledgeable. I was extremely impressed with the aquarium and fisheries. I have lived in Pearland for 19 years and sad that I did not discover Sea Center Texas sooner. Thank you Sea Center Texas for conservation efforts , and providing such a wonderful center to learn in.

Fantastic experience: Each visit there's something different to "sea." The volunteers are polite and knowledgeable, always eager to share. The exhibits are fascinating, especially the jellyfish.

Macie “Al B” Rodriguez 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: Free and a beautiful drive from Houston! They do accept donations which are encouraged but not forced, they do great work in keeping locals informed of what lives in our waters and why we need to keep these special ecosystems protected. The hatchery was unfortunately closed but we will be making a trip back. There is a boardwalk to go down and so much Information! Make sure to read the signs posted and be respectful of the creatures that live there. There are very nice volunteers and even a creature feature feel tank! Make sure to ask questions and again be respectful of the creatures inside. They will inform you of how to do so and what not to do. To make it a full day trip go visit Brazoria county state park before or after your visit! Great place to go after hiking or fishing at the state park down the street to cool off in the summer time! Go nature and learning about our local inhabitants beside the local humans.

Fantastic experience: Pretty cool place where you can check out the few water tanks with small and large fish. They also have an interactive touch tank (make sure you wash your hands and rinse them off really good before you participate). There’s also an outdoor walking area where you can view the outside wetlands. The staff were very nice and courteous.

Fantastic experience: This Sea Center was very nice, and the fish hatchery tour is a must. Our guide gave lots of information about the fish stocking process for the once endangered Red Fish along with others. It has beautiful trails and many programs for families & kids. We really enjoyed our visit and best of all it's Free! I do recommend you call to set up your hatchery tour, especially if you have a large group.

Fantastic experience: FREE admission to this very interesting place. Lots of fish from Texas waters in different ecological areas. A great touch tank the kids loved. Volunteers are very knowledgeable and kind. Dave B. was a wealth of knowledge about the fish and creatures in the touch tank and in the aquariums. He was very kind to my granddaughters and spent a lot of time talking to them about the tank life. We made a donation on the way out. Well worth the 1 hour drive.

Fantastic experience: Free admittance. Super friendly people and affordable gift store. Spent about an hour inside and out. They have replicas of the largest fish ever caught throughout the state of Texas, each species. Great place for kids. Would definitely go back.

Fantastic experience: Great little place to stop in with the family. Hatchery wasn't doing tours that day, which is a shame because I'm attempting to get a job there. On that note, I think this is the greatest place in the world and if I could I would spend as much time there as possible. Local fish and information on each one and their environment. Information on conservation efforts in the area as well.

Fantastic experience: Free admission to Sea Center in Lake Jackson, TX. Santa and his elves were scuba diving to say hello to lots of kids who enjoyed seeing them on this December Saturday.

Fantastic experience: I drove down from Dallas to take the Introduction to Fishing Basics Class. Mason and the volunteers were knowledgeable, friendly, and fun to learn from. The Sea Center does a lot of work to help with the fish population. The tour of the facilities was interesting to go on and learn about the different tasks that go into helping the fish population. There is a catch and release pond where I was able to use the skills I was taught, and I caught four fish. I am happy to have taken this class at this facility,I am hooked! (pun intended) I'll be back for the 2024 season to take the fly fishing class.

Fantastic experience: We were looking for something fun to do with our 9 year old granddaughter and had heard about Sea Center from another friend that took her 3 year old grandson there. We went on a Saturday and were pleasantly surprised. It is definitely small, but it is also free. They have a touch tank for the kiddos to look in and touch various sea creatures. There are a couple of small aquarium tanks with various fish and one with a jellyfish. These things kept our granddaughter's attention. We also had signed up for the fish hatchery tour (email ahead of time), and Dave was our tour guide. He is an older gentleman that volunteers there and is so full knowledge and passionate about conservation. There were about 8 of us on the tour of various ages and he was able to keep both old and young engaged. I highly recommend the drive to Lake Jackson for this quaint excursion. You will definitely learn something!

Fantastic experience: This was a nice place to visit. It was free to go to but donations are appreciated! there's not much else to do in this town so if you have kids it's definitely worth the trip to come see. Glad I went!

Fantastic experience: Fun thing to do in Lake Jackson!!!! You have to get reservations for the fish hatchery part, but it is well worth it! Dave was a great tour guide…it’s free and all volunteer so buy something from the very reasonably priced gift shop on your way out!

Fantastic experience: Lovely place to visit! We got to see the fish be fed and do a touch tank! It’s a small visit when it’s too hot to go out and see the rest of the center but it was lovely nonetheless

Marie Robinson 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: It was my first time there. My great grandson and I enjoyed the entire experience. We bought a fluffy shark because all proceeds go to feed the fish. The scavenger hunt was fun. Their is a tank for touching the different sea live.

Ron Bachman 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: A surprisingly good aquarium for a community of this size. Children flock to the touching experience where they can get very close to tidal pool creatures. There are several large tanks that are stocked with sea life from the Gulf of Mexico. They also have outside areas for a fresh water environment as well as a brackish water environment. There are also several hatchery pools which produce huge numbers of offshore fish each year. The parking lot is near the front door.

Damien Hicks 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: We always stop in here if we’re in the area. For a free attraction it’s really nice. Takes maybe 10 minutes to walk through the whole place, but the tanks are really well maintained, and they do add different small exhibits each time we’ve been. Plus, there’s a touch tank area which is really neat.

Fantastic experience: Amazing place! The place to go for those who love sea life. We went for the shark celebration, and were able to get up close with real sharks and those who study them.

Marycarmen Wallace 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: This place was absolutely amazing. It’s free to get in but donations are appreciated. We waited to do the tour of the hatchery which I highly recommend. There were 11 of us for the tour and we all enjoyed it and learned a lot. It’s amazing to see the volunteer work a lot of these individuals put into the center and the passion they have for it.

Fantastic experience: This hatchery is a nice place for families. There were several tanks with several different native species of fish. The most interactive exhibit included live crabs (spider and hermit). The presenter was very knowledgeable and friendly. The hatchery tour was about 30 minutes long. The tour detailed how the hatchery began and the breeding cycle of the fish.

Fantastic experience: Loved the tour.. decided to become sponsors. A worthy donation and fun exhibits and visitors shop.

Eve B 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: We love going to the Sea Center. It's very small. There is an area where children can touch shells, crabs, and other underwater creatures. This area is fully air conditioned. There is a tour of the hatchery available. I found it pretty interesting. However, my 7yo granddaughter was kind of bored. More talking than 'hands on' type tour. Plus, part of it is outside. Even inside, the hallway is basically the only area air conditioned. It takes about an hour. There is a small Boardwalk through the Wetlands, but it was June and hot, and that's for another day. It's all Volunteer ran and free (although donations are greatly appreciated!) There is a very small gift shop. Bathrooms were spotless.

Fantastic experience: My husband and I were on a mini vacation and found this place on a whim ! We absolutely enjoyed the tour and learned about things we never knew ! The experience was fun and we plan on visiting again on our next trip down !! It is free but they accept donations! Definitely keep donating as their cause to help the ocean is amazing ! We also got to play with crabs and touch things you normally wouldn’t from the ocean

Fantastic experience: The Sea Center is a great place to bring your children and show them some of the fish in ou area. They have a tank for the kids to touch creatures, and some pretty massive fish in the Tanks as you walk through. I cant remember her name but she was so nice asking us if we had any questions and even took some pictures for us. This was one of the best parts of our vacation and we highly recommend it. I may have gotten schooled on what a flounder was but that's my favorite fish now they're too cool! Check out the wetlands outside it's a beautiful scene. Dont miss a chance to see this spot and a do a hatery tour! Also please donate when you visit this place is free and does so much for the community and wildlife!

Positive experience: Make sure to check their hours of operation before going. Not too big but good enough for a venture. No fees, donations are welcomed. The "Touch Tank" should be a hit with the younger crowds.

Kyra Maldonado 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: This place is so wonderful! Magical for wee-ones! My hubby and I love taking our little loves here, it's free, donations are welcomed. The volunteers are always kind and knowledgeable, even if our toddler doesn't yet have the capacity to understand what they're being told at the touch tank, it's still good socialization and educational (who knew when the sea anemone is "sticking" to you thats really it stinging you with microscopic harpoons)! We are all lovers of marine life and though this facility may be smaller, it's full of fantastic oceanic life. I think the Jellyfish are our favorites at the moment, close second to the giant nurse sharks. There's an observation pier outside to walk on and they also give tours of their hatchery, though we haven't done these things yet, they are highly recommended by friends and family. We highly recommend this place to anyone in the area, whether it's a stop on a fun date outting, or to share an awesome memory with your kiddos, Sea Center is a gem! ✨️
